去年のロイヤルホストの紅玉フェアの焼きリンゴ。ぜひ今年のも食べたい。

キャラメルアイス：塩味が強い。苦味と塩味と甘み。単体だと恐らくスイーツとしては甘み少ないけれどもに下のどれかと合わせるとまぁ素晴らしい。

クレームブリュレ：生の林檎入り。飴の食感はあまり感じなかったけど、トロトロのクレームブリュレと生の林檎のシャキシャキが楽しいし、味も甘さとそれに負けない甘酸っぱさの林檎。

焼き林檎：紅玉の面目躍如。しっかりした肉厚の感触と甘酸っぱさ。これが紅玉林檎だよ……紅玉林檎のお菓子好きぃ……って改めて感じた。半玉あって、クレームブリュレと合わせたりキャラメルアイスと合わせたり、下のクッキー生地と合わせたり複合したり出来るのも、はたまた大きめに切って『焼き林檎』を楽しむ事も出来るのもとても良い。

ザクザク生地

砕いたクッキー……ビスケット？生地にバターキャラメル混ぜたのかな。ザクザクしてて甘いけど、甘ったるいわけでもなく。この手の食感とても好きなので嬉しかった。果物やクリームでは出せない歯応えが楽しい。

上の4層が重なっていて、どこからどれをどう食べても美味しい。

焼き林檎を楽しむ為に焼き林檎の形を保ったパフェ。器に入ってないからどの組み合わせをしてもいいのも嬉しい。あとこれにキャラメルソースが別添えであって、掛けることが出来る。

El color del momento en el que la noche se acuesta antes de la mañana se superpone con el humo azul de un 14mm.

フェンダー編第262回：「艶色、キャンディ・アップル・レッド、ってこんなこと」

これまた少し前の休日のお話ですが、『シン・ウルトラマン』を鑑賞して参りました。

幼き日に『ウルトラマン（初代）』、『ウルトラマンセブン』、『帰ってきたウルトラマン』を観て育った自分としては大変胸が熱くなる作品で、 特に物語の佳境で「ウルトラマンに変身し巨大化する際の演出（いわゆる”ぐんぐんカット”です）」が出てきた時には無性に泣きそうになり、 やはりウルトラマンは無条件で格好良いなと再認識した次第でございます。

故きを温ねて新しきを知る、 ある意味オールドファッションだと言われてしまいそうな伝統手法は、フェンダー・カスタムショップでも多分に健在です。

著名なカスタム・カラーの一つである「キャンディ・アップル・レッド」。 実はフェンダー社が初めて”調合した”、初のオリジナル・カラーであることを皆様ご存知でいらっしゃいますでしょうか。

その昔、フェンダーのオリジナル・ファクトリーはフラートンというエリアにあり、車関係の工場が近隣に存在していた由縁でカスタム・カラーの多くは車用のカラー塗料で塗られていました。

ダコタ・レッドやバーガンディ・ミスト、シャーウッド・グリーン、ダフネ・ブルー、ショアライン・ゴールド等々、様々な車メーカーに倣ったカラー展開となっていたのですが、 1962年に登場した「キャンディ・アップル・レッド」は、出来合いの塗料缶を用いた着色ではなく「ゴールドの下地を塗った上でレッドを重ね塗りする」というレイヤー手法で独特の艶感を演出したフェンダー自慢のオリジナル・カラーだったのです。

事実、レオ・フェンダー氏にお気に入りのラインナップ・カラーを尋ねると『キャンディ・アップル・レッドだ』という返答があったという逸話もあり、 62年以降のカタログには、ジャズマスターやジャガー等の高級モデルでキャンディ・アップルの写真が掲載されています。 大半のカスタム・カラーがカタログ掲載終了となった1972年時点でも、レイク・プラシッド・ブルーと並んで掲載されていることから、ブランドとして相当に思い入れのあるカラーだったと言えるのではないでしょうか。

今日（こんにち）に於いては、「キャンディ・アップル・レッド」という出来合いの塗料缶が調合されている為、普及価格帯ラインナップでは「既に調合された状態の色」で着色が行われていますが、 フェンダー・カスタムショップでは古き良き伝統を守り、ゴールドの上からレッドを重ね塗りする本来の手法を採用しています。

まさしく林檎飴のような、艶々とした立体的な発色はレイヤード・カラーならでは。 ご覧頂く角度によって表情を変える艶やかな色合いをぜひお楽しみ下さい。
