朝飯後の本格的な再始動。

名付け親の旅人さんは元気にしているだろうか？

さて、ジェネラルさんのとこで開催中のボケクエ７に参加することにあたり、まずはそこでの練習お題に挑戦中なのだけど、まあとんでもなくスベッている。

３年前のボケクエ５の時もそんな始まりだったことを思い出す。当時、その後の予選３試合も全く歯が立たず敗退してしまった。

今回はそんな風にして終わりたくない。というか、さすがにここまで戦えないと少し自分にムッと来る。なんとかして力をつけたい。

ここ数年（？）の記録を見返してみると予選敗退だとか2回戦敗退とかばっかりで、まったくダメダメな感じである。

どうしてここまでダメになってしまったのか、原因を考えてみたのだけど、数年おきの参加、かつ２０１７年以降は何かの大会に参加する時以外に投稿など一切していなかったので、大喜利的なものの考え方（勘所）をほぼ忘れてしまっているのが大き��のではないかなと思った。

それならば、予選開始前に可能な限りそれを取り戻す必要がある。

ということで、いろんなサイトの過去ログ（SPM２号館やぼけおめも見たかった）を漁って上位ネタを見たり、あるいは記録をまとめている人のブログ等でツボ上げやお題へのアプローチ手法を見たりして勉強（？）をし直すことに。

また、こういうのは実践あるのみなので、並行して投稿活動もしている。

当初はネタボケライフの参加を検討していたが、レート下げるの嫌だし、あと投稿から結果が出るまでのスパンが長くなりがちなのでやめた（実は第3119回に投稿してたんだけど、締め切り直前で作り直そうと思ってEvernoteにあれこれ書いているうちに寝落ちした）。

それで、どこのサイトが良いだろうと考えていたところ、同じチームのshamanさんから「大喜利茶屋楽しいですよ」という情報を教えてもらった。

なんとなく聞いたことはあったけれど、どんなサイトなのかは知らなかったので覗いてみたら、１日１回日替わりお題が出たり、昼と夜で短時間で投稿と投票を繰り返す企画があったりと、なんとなくネタボケライフやチャットの職人・大喜利PHPの良いとこ取りをしたサイトだった。

数をこなすという点では昼夜の企画に参加するのがベストだと思うけれど、とりあえずは日替わりお題のみに絞って参加している。

ということで、「いざっ！」という感じでやり始めたものの、好成績を出す的をことは狙いとせず、下記の内容を課題として設け、投稿を続けることを目標にした。

投稿は毎日必ずおこなうこと

自分が現状できるアプローチ法を見出し、実用的であるのか確認すること

投稿可能なお題は選択式なので、偏りが無いようにお題を選ぶこと

結果は記事として記録に残す。またほかの人の優れた点を見逃さないようにツボ上げもすること

これらを取り決めとしてみた。

ということで、ここから先はここ１週間の記録まとめになる。

パープルムカデやってよって知らないポーズ言われた

はじめての投稿。

この時点では「とりあえず投稿してみよう」ぐらいにしか考えておらず、特にこれといった要素はない。

とっかかりはやっぱり一番左の女の子になる。

白鳥の湖に出てきそうなポーズをしているので、それに対して何かネタをぶち込む。

あとはネタをセリフ調にするか地の文調にするかだけど、セリフ調は個人的に苦手なので、地の文調で投稿した。

結果は「まあ���うでしょうね」といった感じ。結果には影響ないだろうけど、「ムカデやってよと聞いたことないポーズ言われた」にしとけば良かった。なんでsyrup１６gを使った。

軍用ドローンが並走してきてて、彼ピの話全然入ってこない

パッと見、女性が男性に���けて何かを話しているように見えるけど、サングラスのせいでカメ��に視線を向けているようにも見えた。

そこから「談笑中に何かが目に入って、硬直している」という風に捉えて、ネタ作りを始めた。

最初は「痛車が並走してきてて、彼ピの話が入ってこない」にしていたのだけど、この写真、よく見ると右端に街路樹のようなものが映り込んでいるし、片側二車線でもないのに車が並走するのはちょっと考えづらいと思った。

そこで並走するものを考え直し、ああだこうだして選んだのがドローンだった。これなら違和感も多少減る。

そして今回のネタについては「強化ワード」を要素に入れた。

ドローンは軍用ドローンにして危なっかしさを、彼氏は彼ピにしてバカっぽさをそれぞれ付与している。

過去に投稿したものでも、この手法は何度か使っており、一番印象に残っているのは、ぼけおめBOGでの「まとめブログ読んだぞ殺すからなお前ら」だろうか。確かこの時も「ブログ」ではなくて当時流行っていた「まとめブログ」という単語にして挑んだ記憶がある。

個人的に良いの出せたかなと思ったけど、結果は散々だった。マジか。

１．ちきちきたさん：イオンが潰れて商店街に…？

もしかしたら同じアプローチを取ったんじゃないだろうか。

実際にそうなっていたら「え？」ってなると思う。

ちなみにこのネタについては「逆」の要素が盛り込まれている。

通常なら商店街が廃れて、その後に大型スーパーが建つといった流れになるが、それが逆になっているので、「イオン潰れて、なんか商店街出来てる...」といったところがおもしろポイントになるのではないだろうか。

２．つくりんさん：地図にない森来た

写真よく見てるなーと思ったネタ。本当によく見ると周り木ばっか。相手の話に相槌打ちつつ「どこ連れていかれてるんだ」と女性が考えていると思うとおもしろかった。

タクシーのメーターが10万円になってて一言

後ろ走ってる探偵君も顔真っ青だろうぜ

このネタについては「役割付加」を要素に入れている。

乗車している人物に何かしらの職業やバックグラウンドを設けることで、ネタ作りの方向性を決めるといった手法だ。

今回は「犯人」という役割を与え、追手から長時間逃げ続けている描写を読み手に想像させるようにした。

探偵もタクシー使っていたら、依頼料以上の出費がかかっていることに青ざめるだろう��、自分の車で追ってても「おいおい、あいつ大丈夫かよ？」と心配になってしまう。そんな感じのネタ。

割と上位だったけど、結果を見ても「あ、結構上の方にいるな」とそのまんまの感想しか出てこなかった。

１．アスパラさん：格闘技の経験とかあります？

この状況をどう切り抜けるかといったアプローチで作ったんじゃないかな？遠まわしに暴力を想起させるネタは個人的に好き。

それ最高だな！この調子でガンガン採用していくぞ！みんな後99個イケるか！？

言い争いをしている写真お題。

これには「逆」の要素を入れてみた。

左の男性が右の男性に向かって怒っている姿を逆に捉えて、賞賛しているような表現にした。

ただ、今こうして見返してみると表現が冗長な気がする。周りの人たちの疲弊している姿も要素に入れたかったのだけど、それでも「それ採用！みんな後99個イケるか！？」ぐらいに留めておけば良かった。

スベッたけど、なんとなく覚悟していたので結果を見てもやっぱり感が強かった。もうちょっとワーディングに時間を費やせば、良いのが出来たかもしれない。

１.ゆうきさん：この状況を作った奴は帰ってる

嘘だろ。めちゃくちゃおもしろかった。

「写真に写っていない人物を使う」というアプローチも秀逸だと思う。こういったものの考え方が出来るってすごい羨ましい。

哲学ミミズさん：もう使った言い訳しかない

右側の男性に焦点を当てたネタ作りなのかな。

ヤケクソ感がすごい。「それさっきも言っただろう」と指摘されているのも伝わってくる。

いずれも自分とは違って短文で攻めて上位だった。これが力の差か。

めでたしめでたしと言われても納得できなかった童話のオチ

オオカミの腹から助け出されたお婆さんはその後、PTSDで幻聴・幻視に苦しみ、また徘徊、妄言、物取られ被害、突��大声を出すなどの異常行動からキチガイとして地元で有名になり、最期は高架下の土手で泡を吹いて死んでいるのを発見され、「あのババアが死んだ！」と小学生の間で話題になりました。

過去にあまり使ったことはないアプローチ「詳細記述」を使った。

大喜利は短文で説明して笑いを取るという、なんとなく暗黙のルールがある気がするけど、そんなものとは真っ向から反対してぶつかっていくのがこの手法。

ただし、本当にその状況を説明するだけでは普通の文章になってしまうので、文中で扱う単語には細心の注意が必要になる。そして、かなり振り切れた表現が出来ないといけないので、博打要素がかなり強いアプローチだ。

一応気に入っている部類ではあるけど、ちょっと不謹慎かなとも思ってしまったり。キチガイとしての行動に入れた内容は、正直キチガイ行動とも思えない部分もある。物取られ被害は外して、徘徊を全裸徘徊にしておけば良かったかも。

こういうネタが得意な人がすごい羨ましい。たとえばこの人とかこの人とか。新人QPさんが【サイコおかやま】呼ばわりしてたのがすごくおもしろくて好きだった。

結果は下位。ただし個人で3票入れてくれる人が二人いてくれた。やっぱりこういうネタって表現を振り切ってしまった方が良い。ツボにはまると票を搔っ攫っていく。

坊や、早く帰らないと◯◯◯

仁王立ちして待つお母さんが次のポーズを考え始める

最下位ｗｗｗ

しかも投票ボーナス無いとぶっち切りの最下位で笑ってしまった。ボケノート、ネタボケ形式のサイトで最下位取るの、これが初めてだと思う。これなら投票しないで最下位取った方が良かったとさえ思った。いや、投票���キチンとしますけど！

これには要素付加は特に無く、題意に沿ってイメージを膨らませて作った。

「早く帰らないとお母さんに怒られるよ」を下地に、母親が怒る姿＝仁王立ちして待つをいじくることとし、「長時間待ち続けて仁王立ちするのが辛くなってきたので別のポーズで待ち構える」、そんな感じの表現を書き起こしたのだけど、まさか滅茶苦茶スベるとは思わなかった。この結果を見て、思わずgoogleで大喜利 コツで検索した。

１．heenaさん：「坊」って呼ぶぞい

ちょっと怒ってる感じがにじみ出てて好き。

お題的に「早く帰らないと～になるよ」といった形式になりやすい中で、その枠組みから少し外れているアプローチだと思う。こういう捉え方が出来れば、ネタ作りの幅も広がりそう。勉強になる。

無人島にいる女の子の悩み

可愛いウサちゃんじゃなくて素早い肉に思えてきた

このネタには「変換」の要素を入れている。

「AはBである」を「AはCである」というものへ切り替えるという手法だ。過去にぼけおめトーナメント2013‐14の予選1回戦目でも使ったことがある。

今回は「ウサギ＝かわいい」を「ウサギ＝素早い肉」と置き換えることで、サバイバル感を出している。

少し話はズレるが、この回はワーディングにも注意した。

最初に投稿した際は「ウサちゃん可愛いじゃなくて素早い肉に思えてきた」と送ったのだけど、読み返した際に違和感があって、少し考えてその正体が単語の繋がりであることに気づいた。

最初に送ったものだと「ウサちゃん（名詞）（は：助詞）可愛い（形容詞）じゃなくて、素早い（形容詞）肉（名詞）に思えてきた」という作りになっており、文として少し極まりが悪い。

そこで形容詞＋名詞の形に整えることにして、上記のネタを送りなおすことにした。

結果は10位。やっと入賞か。

月の瞼さん：自分の中の人は増えてきてる

「無人島にいる」という状況を上手く利用していて、かつおもしろい。「無人島」というワードから連想されがちなサバイバル感では無くて、「無人島で一人」という危機的状況から生まれるサイコ感を出せているのが凄い。当てはめるならイメージを一歩進ませた「飛躍」という要素を使っていると言えるだろうか。

そういえばネタ作りの際のアプローチで「女の子の状況」ををどう捉えればいいのかでも少し悩んだ。漂流してしまったのか、それともこの女の子は原住民であるのかといった具合。

今考えると、無人島な訳だし前者で捉えるのが当たり前か。ほかの人もみんな漂流者で捉えていた。そもそも原住民としてのアプローチでネタ作るの、相当難しいと思う。

といった感じで１週間分の記録を作ってみた。

結果は散々なことになっているけれど、まあその点は正直度外視して挑んでいるので、あんまり気にしないようにしている。とりあえず「大喜利はこうやって戦うんだ」という勘所を掴みたいので、この後も粛々と投稿を続けたい。

あと、可能であれば他のサイトへの参加も検討中。調べればいろいろ出てきたのだけど、どこが良いんだろう？

さて、目標は飽くまでボケクエ７での健闘だし、というか大喜利名人維新終わっちゃうので、有終の美ってやつを飾りたいのだ。今まで名人維新であんまり良い記録残せていないので本当になんとかなってくれ。

いつもの行方

バイト帰り。

俺の一番好きな写真。

3人写ってる写真は少ない。

その中でもこの写真は一人一人の“感じ”が出ているなと思う。

たまにアルバムを遡って眺めてたりする。

さて

ブラック居酒屋でのバイトがつらい。

ほぼ12時間働いて休憩が1時間しかなかったり、

ちょっとのことでめちゃくちゃ叱られたり。

その割に俺が言われたことやってたりする。

は？

あそこにいる大人は誰も信用しちゃいない。

偽って偽って過ごすことに慣れてしまった。

それでもそこにしがみ付く俺の不甲斐なさっていうか、弱さが一番悲しくさせる。

今月、ざっと計算したら23万以上稼いでいる。

バンドマンって金がないんじゃないのか。

たまに終わった後、バイトの人たちで飲んだりするけど、盛り上がるのは店の愚痴ばかり。

流れでヘラヘラ笑っているけど、俺が熱を上げたいのはそんな会話じゃない。

良いのか悪いのか。俺の今の生活の中で、心の置き場所はバンドしかない。それ以外の安心や余裕や楽しみが本当にない。

金稼いでも使いどころがないじゃないか。

友達と遊びに行く余裕もない。まぁ元からそんなに行かないんだけど。

怖いものは無いんだけど、怖い人だらけだ。

シロップのパープルムカデが生活に滲みまくっている。

家に帰り、風呂に入り、カップラーメンと酒を飲んで、寝て、起きたら、またバイトへ。

バンドのこと、馬鹿にされたって、人格を否定されたって、負けるか���

見返してやる。そんな気持ちも起きたら萎れているんだろうか。

逃げ道は自分で作るべきだ。

誰も頼っちゃいけない。

自分で作ったからこそ意味がある。

俺はそれが下手すぎた。

また同じように気づいたら止まったままの心臓です。

あっ、湿っぽくなったね。

『パープルムカデ』は1stシングル。2003年9月17日リリース。シングルと言いつつ、4つの新曲で構成されており、楽曲のインストバージョンの収録はなし。うち半数は、後にリリースされるアルバム『Mouth to Mouse』に収録される。

Purple Mukade is the 1st single by Syrup16g, released on September 17th, 2003. Although called a single, it was composed of 4 new songs and did not include any instrumental versions. Half the songs were later included in the album Mouth to Mouse. (*)

日本のスリーピースロックバンドで、1996年に結成された。2008年に解散し、2014年6月27日に再結成を発表。

syrupは、「ぬるいままで好きな音楽を好きなだけやろうっていう、そういう意味を込めて…」といった理由で五十嵐が名づける。16gは、バンド名を検討していたミスタードーナツでのコーヒーのシロップの量が16gだった事に由来する。

Syrup 16 is a 3-piece Japanese rock band formed in 1996. They disbanded in 2008, but reunited on June 27th, 2014.

The name “syrup” is said by Igarashi to have been chosen “with the meaning of staying lukewarm, and playing the music we like as much as we like.” The “16g” comes from the fact that syrup sweeteners for coffee come in packages of 16 grams at the chain Mister Donuts, where the band first thought of their name. Mukade are giant, venomous Japanese centipedes, one of the most feared bugs of Japan. They like to hide in bed sheets and futons, or as I’ve often found them, around sinks or bath areas. Their bites are painful, so it’s best to consult a doctor if you’re ever bitten.

One bit of mukade lore is that they’re always found in 夫婦 pairs--husband and wife. So if you find one, you should probably keep an eye out for the other...!

This is my preferred brand of mukade traps:

But mukade are so detested that many people often complain about the packaging having pictures of mukade on them. “I’m buying this so that I never have to see a mukade again, so why are they making me look at a picture of one?” Online, even the word itself may be censored as if it is some terrible taboo word: ム◯デ、ムカ◯、 ◯カデ... The word for cockroach is often written similarly (ゴ◯ブリ), though surprisingly not the dreaded suzumebachi hornet.

But the mukade in this song are not literal. Syrup16g guitarist and songwriter Igarashi Takashi has described it in multiple interviews as a metaphor for fallen soldiers on a battlefield. Released in 2003, the same year as the Iraq War, it seems to be in response to Japan’s promise to contribute members of its self defense force despite promises to avoid engaging in combat. But Igarashi remains noncommital on the true message of the song. Below are some of his comments from a 2003 interview in the magazine SNOOZER with interviewer Tanaka Soichiro:

「『パープルムカデ』っていうのは、星条旗の青が、ドーンと田舎かどっかでまき散らされて、その中で、ドロドロの血の中で紫色になって。そういうイメージが。その中で、兵隊がムカデ、あるいは、うごめいているみたいな世界と、今、ここで、取材を受けて、のほほんとコーヒーを飲んでいる自分の感覚というか」 “‘Purple Mukade’ is kind of like this image of American troops scattered with a bang in the middle of nowhere with the blue of the American flag, and in the middle of that, mixing with the sticky blood they turn purple. In all of that, the soldiers are the centipede. Or, as I sit here now at this interview, drinking coffee without a care, I get the feeling that perhaps it’s the world that’s wriggling like a bug.”

“I wonder things like how these young guys who had to become suicide bombers must have felt, even though they were supposed to be born into a world where they can live and think about the ordinary things that they like, think about the girl that they like. You can’t even imagine it, you know. Myself, I feel guilty for doing things so safely commercialized like playing in a rock band, so possibly I wanted to distance myself from that by imagining that kind of other life.”

Even as a rare Syrup16g song that’s about something other than ordinary life, Igarashi still manages to write a song that’s centered on himself, and the discomfort of feeling safe while so many others in the world are going through so much horrendous suffering.

In a lighter interpretation, drummer Nakahata Daiki recounts another possible origin for the song’s mukade in a review for 「パープルむかで」posted on the band’s site:

１６年前のある朝、 ツアー先のホテルのベッドの中で何かがモゾモゾと体に触る感触で目を覚ましました。 恐る恐る布団をはいでみるとそこには毛だらけの大きな虫が這っていたんです。。。！ ぞっとするよね。。。どんな虫だったか名前も知らないけども。 そのホテルにクレームを言う訳でもなくメンバーにそっと朝のさわやかな話題として��供しました。 One morning, 16 years ago, In a hotel bed while on tour, I woke up to the feeling of something creeping along my skin. When I fearfully tore off the blankets, there was a large, hairy bug crawling around...! It makes my skin crawl... I don’t even know the name of what kind of bug it was. That morning I quietly told the other band members, not as a complaint so we could seek compensation from the hotel, but as a fresh topic of conversation.

文法：命令形（Imperative Form）

For polite requests, you'll commonly see the て-form combined with the verb ください (please). However, on the rare occasion when a coarser, more direct command is needed, we will use this conjugation:

る verbs: Replace the る with ろ 食べる　→　食べろ

う verbs: Replace the -u sound with -e 買う　→　買え　　　　読む　→　読め　　　　行く　→　行け 立つ　→　立て　　　　死ぬ　→　死ね　　　　急ぐ　→　急げ 帰る　→　帰れ　　　　遊ぶ　→　遊べ　　　　放す　→　放せ

Irregular verbs: する　→　しろ 来る　→　こい

＊くれる　→　くれ

As usual, する follows the pattern of る verbs, while 来る, the eternal rebel, changes to こい for no real reason. Watch out for つ ending verbs... they may look like て form, but they actually are not.

Note that non-volitional verbs (verbs that are not in the subject's control) such as ある, できる, 分かる, do not have imperative forms (although the classical imperative あれ looks deceptively like it would be).

You’ll most commonly see this on stop signs:

止まれ STOP

As this form is especially rough, rude, and masculine, you should exercise caution when using it. You will see it more often used by 俺 users in movies and anime, or in emotionally intense scenes. You will absolutely see it in shounen manga fight scenes, especially with the type of characters who toss around やろう and てめえ like candy, but it also has it’s place in more ordinary scenes. It may be used between close (usually male) friends or family members, especially fathers to children.

よつば…　起きろ　気球だぞ Yotsuba... Wake up. It's time for the hot-air balloons.

Usually 命令形 should not be used towards your superiors or those older than you, and you won’t find it used by women as often... but of course there’s always exceptions.

〜てくれ

＊ In the imperative form, くれる has its own irregular form: くれ. You’ll often see it tagged onto the て-form of a verb with the meaning of “do this for me.” However, it is less of a command than a request, more comparable to てくれませんか than てください.

気にせずちょっと先に行ってくれ Don’t mind me and just go on ahead a bit.

だらけ, まみれ, and ずくめ combine with nouns, and behave as nouns themselves (If they are used to describe other nouns, they would be followed by the particle の, etc.). They all mean “covered with, filled with, completely,” but their usages and connotations vary slightly.

だらけ

The most versatile, and the most commonly seen of the three. It can be used with nouns that carry a positive or negative meaning, but mostly has a negative connotation. It is not quite as emotionally strong as まみれ.

体中苔だらけの森みたいだ… It's whole body is like a moss-covered forest…

まみれ（塗れ）

Very similar to だらけ, but it’s used exclusively with negative, physical objects, specifically one’s that are superficially dirty or sticky. It comes from the kanji 塗, which means to coat or smear something, and so it’s commonly used with things like dust, blood, sweat, sand, oil, and trash.

みどろ is identical, but less commonly used, and more restricted to mostly sticky things like mud and sweat.

＊　借金まみれ　⇒　racked with debts An exception to the “physical” rule, and perhaps comes from the image of your debts following after you. Even if you pay them off little by little, they still stick with you.

惚れた女に別の男とかけおちするための金を貢がされて借金まみれになった俺を 助けてくれたしね!! Because, when I was drowning in debts from financially supporting the woman I loved just so she could elope with another man... he saved me!

While there’s often a lot of overlap with だらけ, using まみれ emphasizes the speakers’ negative feelings of disgust. まみれ also emphasizes the smallness of the objects it’s describing: when talking about dust, for example, ほこりまみれ more concerned with a finer coating of dust, while ほこりだらけ would describe giant clumps of dust bunnies.

Since ゴミ (garbage) usually indicates a certain amount of volume, it’s usually more natural to use だらけ than まみれ.

But while まみれ has more of an “ick” factor than だらけ, it can also be used playfully, like by cat-lovers describing a swarm of cats, or ...:

チョコまみれ　ぬぅ〜〜〜〜〜ん なんてったって　チョコ量２倍！ Drenched in Chocolate　!!! No doubt, that’s TWICE the chocolate!

(Recently-released Country Ma'am cookies. Country Ma’am is a brand famous for their soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies; this is the chocolate-covered version.)

ずくめ （尽くめ）

The most limited of the three, ずくめ describes the entirety of something, like “from head to toe” or “from top to bottom.” It is often used almost exclusively with colors to describe people dressed entirely in that color. Other than colors, it can combine with こと, or else it sticks to more idiomatic phrases.

Can alternatively be written as づくめ (and ずくし／づくし), and the choice of ず versus づ seems to be up to the speaker.

文法：〜き／〜しき（Classical い-Adjectives）

Wading into all the technical nuances of classical conjugation always gives me a headache that is not worth the effort for a grammar that is rarely encountered in modern use. Still, 〜き／〜しき endings on い-adjectives pop up occasionally in modern Japanese to do nothing more than give a phrase some traditional flair. Aside from classical literature, you may also see it used in ceremonies, in omikuji fortunes from shrines, on advertisements trying to sell you nostalgia, or in the speech of anime/manga characters who are speaking in an intentionally archaic way. So I’m not going to get into all the crazy jargon here, but give a light and easy breakdown so you can recognize them when they do deign to appear.

In classical Japanese, there were 4 types of adjectives: -なり adjectives (like 静かなり, which evolved into modern な-adjectives), -たりadjectives (which more or less faded out of modern Japanese), く-adjectives (like 赤く, which became modern-day い-adjectives) and しく-adjectives (like 美しく, which became modern-day しい-ending adjectives). く- and しく-adjectives are known as the “pure” or “true” adjectives, and we’ll focus on those here.

There isn’t too much of a difference between く- and しく-adjectives. Most く-adjectives tend to be subjective and based on observations, while しく-adjectives tend to be objective or emotional. Many く and しく-adjectives find their origins in primordial verbs, although some く-adjectives also originate from nouns.

The く and しく-endings come from the 連用形 (Conjunctive form), which is essentially the base form of a verb or adjective, what I was always taught as dictionary form. There are tons of other conjugations that are not in use or not differentiated in modern Japanese, but adjectives mostly were used in two forms: 終止形 (Conclusive) and 連体形 (Attributive). 終止形, as the kanji suggest, is used to end a statement. 連体形 is used to describe or modify a noun. In modern Japanese, these two forms are identical, so we could use the same 美しい for both この眺めが美しい and 美しい景色 even though those sentences use the Conclusive and Attributive forms respectively. In classical Japanese, these adjectives would have taken on different endings to reflect the difference in their usage.

The endings for both types of verbs across all three conjugations would look like this:

Notice that the ending conjugations for these two types of adjectives are almost identical! The only difference is that しく verbs avoid adding an extra -し to the 終止形.

If you have a good grasp of Japanese adjectives, you’ll probably recognize them and guess the meaning on sight alone. Occasionally you might see some that use more antiquated spelling, such as をかし (おかしい). Sometimes the meanings of words may have evolved over time, so be wary of projecting modern preconceptions onto words--like をかし again, which originally meant “zestful” rather than “strange”!
