Me: How tf do I make Grunt's recruitment interesting enough to earn the Big Thing I need to have happen there.
Also Me: You mean the krogan mission. Where they find the vat grown krogan that AREN'T indoctrinated and Sam, the lover of krogan, still has to murder most of them? You know, the krogan who were victims of medical experimentation and had no agency? LIKE SAM? Yeah I wonder how we make this interesting.
Me: Oh my god.

the dossier on her tablet is still running, even when shepard sets it down on the table. while not entirely unusual to pick up stragglers [ considering her own hand picked motley crew ] she didn't expect someone else within the alliance. not when she's on this mad, hare-brained idea of hers, any way.
❝ you come highly recommended, moran. ❞

@furyisms: “who did this to you?” | accepting
Scorch marks on armor were all too common a sight. Eron had a mind to ignore the charred part on his left shoulder piece, at least until he was sure he'd swept the place clean. But Alisa's question, their re-encounter in a sealed-off part on the Citadel, made it impossible to keep quiet. He gave it a glance—still the same, smelling of carbon and smoke—then looked back towards her with a half-hearted shrug.
"Just some pissed off merc boss who wasn't too happy I cut through half of his troops." Barely any challenge that he didn't bother relying on his barriers. He did, however, fail to consider the barrage of missiles flying towards him in retaliation, managing to duck behind industrial crates just in time for him to get a clean shot between the eyes. "Or more. Wasn't counting," he continued. There was little to love about the Blue Suns and the less of them roaming Citadel space the better.
"More importantly, what're you doing here?" his brows furrowed, a mix between confusion and intrigue. "Last intel said they saw you somewhere with Cerberus. Didn't really wanna believe it... but, well, you're standing there right now. If it really is you."
#furyisms#answered.#v. mass effect#(maybe for her shep verse?)#(so this is definitely in me2 bc he's somewhat surprised to see her lmao)#(coming in to recruit him if i had to guess)

The Great Urdnot Party of 2155
After the newly named Urdnot Grunt and his krantt (consisting of the humans Astra Shepard and Jack, and the turian Garrus Vakarian (who himself was the first acknowledged turian to be part of a traditional krantt)) killed the Thresher Maw during his Rite of Passage, becoming the first one in centuries to do so, and Clan Weyrlock had been decimated the day before with the survivors being absorbed into Clan Urdnot, Chief Urdnot Wrex declared that it was high time for a traditional party.
The various members of the Normany squad were invited to partake. It took three days for everyone to recover enough for the ship to leave after the party was over.
Some incidents:
Garrus Vakarian became a minor celebrity due to easily taking down an antagonistic, charging krogan without even reaching for a weapon. When asked, he said the krogan wasn't worth the effort, the harshest insult to a krogan.
Jack became an even more major celebrity by being the first human to chug a tankard of ryncol without dying. Three times.
Tali'Zorah gained great respect by shooting a drunk krogan in the eye when he started asking what was under her suit. The female clan representatives at the party made her an honorary member for this.
The only reason Zaeed Massani didn't lose all of his money betting on varren races was because he was too drunk to remember his second bank account.
Halfway through the party, Astra Shepard and Garrus Vakarian disappeared. They reappeared midmorning the next day, with very suspicious bruises and dented armor. Clan Urdnot was impressed by their assumed stamina and guts to have all the sex on Tuchanka of all places.
Jack, who's biotics were pushing through the effects of her fourth tankard of ryncol, and Miranda Lawson, who was probably not as drunk as she pretends, made out. For at least half an hour. Kasumi Goto has photographic evidence. The other two live in fear that she'll release the images.
Miranda Lawson also used her biotics to throw two krogan across the clearing at the same time, gaining quite a bit of respect.
Before disappearing, Astra Shepard had a friendly sparring match with Urdnot Wrex that ended in a tie. Respect for her increased even more, and she received more breeding requests that Garrus Vakarian reportedly almost died laughing about.
Jacob Taylor may or may not have introduced the incinerate ammo power to a new generation of krogan. This was used to great effect during the Reaper War months later and also on Tuchanka to take out a krogan's rival.
Urdnot Grunt headbutted 87 krogan during the party, holding the record for the sixth highest amount during one night.
#the three unmentioned squadmates took one look at this and decided to have a quiet night playing cards on the normandy#they were probably the smart ones tbh#mass effect#me2#astra shepard#yes this is 100% canon to her verse even if i may never write it out because i can't do it justice

“Letting someone see you that vulnerable, it’s a scary thing.”
There she is. Oriana. She still has the same eyes as she did nineteen years ago when Miranda held her in her arms, a frail, small infant back then. Looking into the young woman’s face is almost like staring into a mirror; they’re identical. Genetically. But Oriana looks different, regardless, with an expression in those otherwise identical eyes of someone who hasn’t seen the kind of things that Miranda has. Fortunately.
Miranda made sure of that, those nineteen years ago, by saving her sister from her father. It’s a decision she will never come to second guess.
Miranda instinctively smiles as she looks at her sister. And just, like Oriana did as a baby, she returns that smile in an instant. Her adoptive parents are with her, loving parents that Miranda carefully chose because Oriana only deserved the best. She’s done it. She’s given Oriana everything that she could never have. A normal family, a normal life, friends.
Then, she turns to leave. The movement feels as if one of two magnets attracted to each other were pushed back with such force to prevent them from touching. It took every bit of strength she had in her to leave Oriana. Memories of the moment when she, a sixteen-year-old girl, had to leave Oriana behind, come to the surface. It had been the most heart-wrenching decision of her life.
“It’s for the best”, Miranda asserted. “Oriana has a normal life. I’ll just complicate that for her. The less she knows about me, the better.”
She cannot hide that insecurity in her voice. Miranda wants to sound pragmatic, but she can’t. The desire to get to know the sister she had been watching over from a distance for nineteen years is palpable in her voice. Shouldn’t she? Miranda couldn’t imagine the happiness from even just one conversation with Oriana, but how selfish would it be? Once she became part of Oriana’s life, there was no return.
But, if she stayed, she would hurt Oriana sooner or later, wouldn’t she? She wasn’t like her sister. Miranda had a reputation for being ruthless and cold and in a way, it was true. As much as she loathed Henry, Miranda saw parts of him inside her. And she couldn’t let Henry near Oriana. That extended to the parts within her.
Yet, for some reason, her squadmate manages to convince her to talk to Oriana. With a few mere words. Normally, it takes a chain of well-funded arguments to convince Miranda of something, and even that could prove futile. But when Kaidan argues that Oriana should know she has a sister out there who loves her, Miranda merely nods. “You’re right”, she speaks, softly, her voice not resembling her usual tone one shred. It’s strangely tender.
It’s only when she returns, she notices that her cheeks are wet with tears. Had Kaidan noticed? Hopefully not. She wasn’t comfortable crying around people. It’s the reason why she has avoided looking into Kaidan’s face since laying eyes on Oriana.
“We’re done here”, Miranda declares, back in her usual professional, authoritative tone. As if she didn’t just go through one of the most meaningful experiences of her life. “Oriana is safe. My father won’t be able to track her down anymore.” She assured, with her back still turned towards her squadmate. With a subtle movement, she wipes away the tears from her face with the sleeve of her catsuit. Then she takes a deep breath and turns to Kaidan.
She’s about to tell him they should head back to the ship, but then Kaidan speaks up.
“Letting someone see you that vulnerable, it’s a scary thing.”
Damnit. She wants to huff, or roll her eyes, but she can’t. The lieutenant and his tendency to say such profound things in the rare moment where it has the capability to affect Miranda.
In any other circumstances, she would’ve shot back with a witty remark. Something along the lines of her not being vulnerable. But in those very circumstances right now Miranda isn’t able to come up with anything like that.
“I guess so..”, she hesitantly agrees, crossing her arms in defensiveness. “I’m not good with ‘vulnerable’. Typically I can solve my problems through more scientific approaches - or with a simple bullet.” She quipped wryly.
#spaceguard#verse: me2#i decided to set the scene to miri's loyalty mission#because it's rare that miri is vulnerable#but when it comes to ori? she totally is

“ i’ve already dealt with the situation.”
She was doing her damndest to, at the very least, talk to him. Talk. That was all she wanted; to talk. As much as he seemed to claim he’d dealt with the situation, Alisa wasn’t sure that really was the case; even since joining the crew she had now, working under Cerberus, he seemed to be avoiding her. Whether that was because she’d chosen to work with Cerberus, or after what had happened surrounding her death… she wasn’t sure.
What she did know was that it hurt. And that any time she seemed to try to talk about the situation, to try and smooth things over with him, he shut her down with that. Maybe it was her that hadn’t dealt with the situation; maybe it was her that was still dealing with the situation. Wrapping her head around her childhood had been one thing, but this? It was a lot to take in.
“You had two years to deal with it. A little more than that, if we want to be more specific. Two years that I didn’t get. Two years that just—don’t exist for me. So while you may have dealt with it, I haven’t, and acting like this whole situation has no effect on me isn’t fair.” She wasn’t about to stand here and let anyone, let alone him, act like everything was okay. Because while it might have been for him, it certainly wasn’t for her; she had feelings on the situation too.

Main Verses:
→ Pre ME2. Likely I won’t be RPing much in this verse, but it will be possible with characters who have met Miranda prior to ME2 (Niket, Lanteia, Liara, Jacob, The Illusive Man, Maya Brooks.)
→ Mass Effect 2. I just love playing Miranda during ME2 while she is still a Cerberus loyalist. I like exploring her growing distrust towards Cerberus and her incredible character development during ME2.
→ Mass Effect 3, preferably as an AU with Miranda on the Normandy.
→ Pirated Normandy ME3 AU. So this is an AU envisioned by the fantastic concept artist Matt Rhodes. Unfortunately it never became canon, but he made a fanart of it. See this post here for the fanart. In this AU, the ME2 crew is flying on a pirated Normandy and they’re both on the run from Cerberus and the Alliance. The ship is being filled up with scavenged equipment and extra bunks are being set up for additional recruits.
I am, of course, open to other AU’s and timelines, just ask. But those are my main verses.

@hopegained asked:
“ we’ve been played. “
Alarms blaring was more than enough to tell her just how screwed they were. Whoever had set off an alarm, Alisa had no idea; she hadn’t set any off crawling through the stupid ventilation shafts, and nothing had been set off from here. There had to be some kind of inside source, someone who had tipped the rest of the facility off to their arrival. It was the only answer that she could think of… and it seemed the rest of her team shared that sentiment.
“Jee, couldn’t tell,” Liss replied sarcastically over the comms, cursing under her breath. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. Here she was, deep in the facility, unarmed, after crawling through the stupid vents, and somehow someone had screwed them over. It couldn’t be one of the scientists; most of them were either dead, or they were cowering in the corner while she did her damnedest to figure out a way for them to get out of there.
Checking the security feeds that she could see, Liss brought up the schematics, checking where the alarms were. Not anywhere near their position, yet there were guards moving in on them. She could see another alarm, near the entrance she’d opened for the rest of their team—led by Eron, no less—to get into the facility for assistance, but right now she felt like she was a sitting duck.
“I hope you’re moving a lot faster than these damn guards are, because if you’re not, I’m about to be up shit creek without a paddle if you’re not!” Not that she couldn’t do anything unarmed—she was a talented biotic, after all—but damn it if she didn’t feel like things were going to be very difficult if she didn’t at least have a gun for the moment she was going to need it.
At least she wouldn’t be difficult to find: the sound of explosions—and not the fiery kind, but the sound of volatile biotic chain-reactions—would be enough of a signal.
#me2. ❖﹙ you were a comet and i lost it ⋄ watching for comets will i see you again? ﹚#ok so i had A Thought™️ since you mentioned him looking into cerberus a lot#cause Lissa in her OC verse does that a lot in the ME2 era#& one of her N7 missions was to lead a team to infiltrate a facility#(it involved her crawling unarmed in a tiny ventilation shaft… he can make fun of her for that later he has full permission LOL)#but yeah thinking maybe he was part of that?#i’m feeling combat vibes sdlkljklf#also i lack her combat icons sdkljlkjf i need to make more for her but it’s fineeeeeee#...i will. eventually. lmao

finally writing out my mass effect verse for vader/anakin. vanguard? why of course he is. or they. the verse might include the twins... undercover cerberus agent!vader? perhaps. wouldn't wanna break his brother's heart 'n all.
the lowdown: slightly canon divergent. reaper threat is mostly left to fester in the background ( pretty canon if you ask me lmfao ). anakin & vader are the first twin spectres. at one point, prob sometime before the events of ME2, vader goes AWOL, much to anakin's dismay. unknown to anakin, he's gone undercover to investigate the illusive man and uh lowkey gets brainwashed? 🤡
anyway, will also include a ceberus aligned!vaderkin & alliance aligned!anakin verse.
#( . for some unfathomable reason‚ i've done actual art for this AU but never once thought to include it on my rp blog#( . idk wtf i've been thinking as i've clearly put more than enough thought into it#˒ *・゚⨯ ( musings ) *・゚✧ ⎸ 𝙵𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃 𝙸𝚃‚ 𝚃𝙰𝙺𝙴 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙿𝙰𝙸𝙽—𝙸𝙶𝙽𝙸𝚃𝙴 𝙸𝚃.#˒ *・゚⨯ ( ooc ) *・゚✧ ⎸ 𝙸 𝙰𝙼 𝙽𝙾 𝙹𝙴𝙳𝙸‚ 𝙻𝙸𝙺𝙴 𝙼𝚈 𝙵𝙰𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝙱𝙴𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙴 𝙼𝙴.

And your biotic skills are exceptional.
They were. At her young age, Jack had been in an unbelievable number of fights, taken so many lives. Sometimes she had biotic opponents. Most of them had been asari, who represented the most powerful race when it came to biotics, though she had not yet encountered a single asari that equaled her when it came to biotic power. Despite her lack of combat experience with tactics, her raw power had already been enough back when she was starting that she had almost always had the upper hand in a fight. But at the same time, it was all she had.
“I’m just surprised Cerberus would pick me of all people. I’ve killed their agents, I’ve blown up one of their facilities, vandalized their shit”, she confessed, expression stony as she pondered why the hell they’d want her aboard. Was she really that special? There was no doubt about the amount of biotic power she had been abnormal for the standard of any species, but..
“The Illusive asshole has so many credits, why not recruit a bunch of high-ranking asari Eclipse commandos or some shit.”
Maybe she didn’t feel like she had a place here. Not that she’s felt at home anywhere in a long time.. but this was just another ship where she felt like she was going to be burdened with the feeling of not belonging.
She refrained from commenting when Shepard said this wasn’t another prison. Anything was better than the last prison she’d been in — Purgatory, but that was a painfully low bar.
Suffocating — that’s the word she would use to describe the sensation of being aboard the Normandy as well. Maybe Shepard wasn’t with them (but maybe she was trying to mess with her and manipulate her, a voice back in Jack’s voice reminded), but the others..
“That makes two of us. Glad to have someone aboard who wouldn’t lick his boots.”
She wasn’t sure if Shepard was being truthful, but she sure would have an easier time dealing with her than those two agents she had encountered when she was recruited and first came aboard. Miranda and Jacob.
THEY DO STICK THEIR NOSES INTO EVERYTHING. cerberus certainly did. they'd put all their resources into bringing back a life she hadn't wanted in the first place and be thrown back into the fight because no one else could do what she did—or so they said.
even with the VPN, shepard had a strong feeling cerberus would find out anyway. she had the not-so-kind reminder of that very fact every time she sat at her cabin's desk. the picture frame that already existed on the ship, for reasons calliope eluded. the easiest explanation would be for her morale, but shepard worried the reasons were more... complicated. a warning that they knew everything about her. or serving as a deterrent of double-crossing them, now that they knew her weakness.
her attention shifted back to jack, at just the right time to catch the disgust on her new squadmate's face. there was a past there that shepard wouldn't poke into yet. however, if she managed to gain her trust, it would make things easier to end this... less-than-ideal partnership with cerberus.
and the threat... well, it meant little to her newly resurrected psyche that still battled whether she wanted this second chance. " each of you was picked for a reason, " she answered, avoiding to clearly answer how much say she had in the matter. " we need trouble if we have any chance of beating the collectors. and your biotic skills are exceptional. " belatedly shepard wondered what kind of training it took for such power. she would bet it wasn't anything pleasant.
" we need you, but this ship is not another prison, " she said, especially with the odds against them. but it was not entirely true. shepard often felt cornered against a wall with no way out. slowly suffocating like she was still floating over alchera. but she wouldn't let the same feeling fester on the crew. if jack resorted to threats, it could mean that she was closer to that threshold. trust though, had to be earned. " i'll deal with the illusive man if it comes to that. " the only card she had against him was the fact that he spent an overwhelming amount of resources on her, and she wouldn't be expendable until they reached the collector base.

VERNE DANIELS.
age: mid to late 20s, verse dependent gender: cis female pronouns: she/her orientation: lesbian species: human, biotic occupation: systems alliance vanguard face claim: frankie adams
from the time she remembered herself, verne always felt like she was gushing with energy. 'she's a handful' her mothers used to say fondly, while they ignored the creeping dread of what might come with it. not much is known about human biotics while she grows up, and then, news start coming in about L2's and their side-effects. her mothers keep trying to bury her very nature, in hopes that she gets to grow up without the complications of her powers. in the end, they flee to one of the newfound colonies, hoping the scarce population would make it easier for verne to fly under the radar. so they move to new canton.
verne learns to keep them hidden, as close to dormant as she can get, and to cope, she throws herself into sports and manual labor around the colony. it helps to keep her extra energy at bay and is an outlet for the constant buzzing she feels. but during a heated fight in her late teens, her biotics flow out of control causing a bookcase to collapse on her mother. after the incident, she reaches out to the alliance in hopes of controlling what she has always been. she's put into a biotic training program first, gaining an L3 amp, and then she joins the military when she turns 18 as a vanguard.
biotics: is the ability of some lifeforms to create mass effect fields using element zero nodules embedded in body tissues. these powers are both accessed and augmented by using bio-amps. biotic individuals can knock enemies over from a distance, lift them into the air, generate gravitational vortices to tear obstacles or enemies apart, or create protective barriers. vanguard: vanguards are the front line of the squad. they focus on combat potential, using biotics to disable and soften up their enemies while shielding themselves from return damage long enough to dispatch foes in a hail of gunfire.
MASS EFFECT 1.
01. verne can already be a part of the normandy during the events of mass effect 1.
02. alternatively, shepard can be given orders by hackett to investigate new canton where geth are trying to take over an abandoned science station. upon landing the commander can meet verne, who's visiting her home while on leave and has been trying to gather an alliance team to come to their aid. at the end of the mission, shepard can either recruit verne or let her return to her alliance posting.
(if shepard has the spacer background, daniels will mention having served under their mother on the SSV kilimanjaro.)
MASS EFFECT 2.
shepard can meet verne on the citadel, having a conversation about the collectors hitting her homeworld and losing contact with her mothers. depending on shepard's reasoning of joining cerberus and their words, daniels can either reject or accept shepard's offer of joining the sr2 normandy. (note: her answer depends on if verne believes shepard is who they say they are. bringing up something personal cerberus has no way of knowing does the trick.) if she accepts she makes it clear that her loyalties solely lie with the commander and the aid of human colonies.
MASS EFFECT 3.
due to her involvement with cerberus, verne is not given a posting in the alliance after the events of me2. she runs off, without purpose and no family anymore, working as a mercenary. when cerberus begins to attack human colonies, she catches rides to investigate what is going on while protecting civilians where she can.
shepard can welcome her back to the normandy and the alliance by either coming across her on benning or using their spectre status to have her reinstated to the crew like donnelly and gabby.
MERCENARY AU.
similar to her early me3 verse, after the collector's attack on her homeworld, verne becomes disillusioned with the alliance and becomes a mercenary. more tba.

Whatever OC is spinning in your brain the most at the moment!
🍎🍉🥭
Ok so this got buried in my inbox for weeks and I finally have the gumption to answer. Sorry for the delay! I do really truly appreciate the engagement regardless of my tardiness. Thanks @finchmarie I'll answer for Johnny Shepard-Itou.
🍎 [RED APPLE] Who does your OC value above all else?
- Johnny values his personal connections above all else because often he feels so disconnected and isolated from the world around him. He knows he's a little different and sometimes dissociates. So the people that love him most and keep him grounded mean the universe to him. His dad and mom, his love interest and his handful of closest friends. It really depends on the 'verse. That said, I would say he has a really special bond with his dad.
🥭 [MANGO] What colours best represent them and why? Does this differ from their favourites?
-Johnny's favourite colour is a vivid banana leaf green. I do think this suits him to a degree because he does have a certain verve for life. I would say yellow is what suits his personality best though, he's like a little ray of sunshine, especially when he gives a genuine smile, instead of his masking people pleasing one
🍉 [WATERMELON] What will your OC take to the grave?
- at the end of ME1 he takes his mostly completed report for the captain that abused him since his first year joining the System's Alliance to the grave. During the time he's dead pre-ME2 his parents become aware of it and start to advocate for better reporting systems. In ME3 Johnny doesn't file the report until post war after grappling with the decision. But when he finally does follow through with it he's able to affect some change.

As Shepard asked if she thought he wasn't cut out for the lifestyle, she narrowed her eyes in thought, as if reconsidering her words. "I'm still figuring you out", she noted. She didn't know shit about him whereas he had probably dug up all the files he could find on her. "The lifestyle can get tiring, though", she admitted, unsure why she was bringing it up. She refused to elaborate on it, however - the thoughts of how excruciating the constant fear of someone stabbing you into the back never formed into words.
They were my ticket to get out and off-planet. Damn, did that sound familiar. For as much pride she seemed to have in what she did, in what she had become, someone intimidating, powerful, independent - it had never been a choice for her. Not even remotely. For people with a normal, safe upbringing, it was easy to look down on people like her and judge them blindly without having the faintest clue of what it's like to spend a day not having anything to eat or anywhere safe to sleep. When it came to survival, people were willing to cross some lines - more than they would have thought once they found themselves in a situation where their lives were actually on the line. Jack was no exception. And neither was Shepard, picking the risky Alliance lifestyle to escape whatever shit life he had. As she took another bite of her meal, he mentioned that being biotic had convinced them.
"I guess mom must've been proud that his boy made it into the Alliance, huh? I hear that the Eclipse is happy to recruit human biotics, no matter what their background is. No tests needed."
A jab. Jack knows he might not have a mom, or maybe not a mom that was proud of him, given that he mentioned a rough upbringing. But damn, does she like hitting sore spots sometimes - it made you get a better read on people. And she wonders if he would've taken the merc path had the Alliance not accepted him.
At the mention of batarians and pirates, it was her turn to let out a huff. "Batarians are to blame for a lot of shit for sure, but the Alliance must be beyond stupid if they think it's slavers and pirates. They probably don't want to cause too much public panic. I'd love to see you try to convince the Council though."
" eventually. can't hurt. they've probably already figured out we've tossed half their bugs at this point. " If the Illusive Man is willing to let him push this far, then Shepard clearly matters too much for him to cause a fuss over a little bit of privacy. Shepard suspects that Cerberus' official response will be to let Lawson handle the quiet replanting of the bugs, but she's got a tough job ahead of her; Mordin's not easy to hide anything from.
(And good for Mordin, too. An ongoing project to keep him busy, after he resolves... whatever's going on with the scale itch.)
He makes himself a bowl, skipping the stove in favour of following Jack to the mess. He works at his own cold meal in silence as he lets her eat — he'd be surprised if she wasn't half-starved after that explosive performance on Purgatory — until she feels like striking up conversation again, though he lets out a huff of amusement at her choice of wording. "Really. What, you think I'm not cut out for the lifestyle?"
He supposes she might be right about that. The Alliance offered easy pay, roofs over his head when he needed them, and guaranteed meals. A basic system of support — that was all he really needed whilst he pursued his rather limited personal interests. The mercenary lifestyle, if Zaeed was anything to judge by, required more of a streak of independence and a great deal more personal desire. (Then again, it wasn't as though Shepard all that great an Alliance soldier, either. He was a touch too defiant... just a little too self-interested.)
"... yeah, you're right. A little over a decade" — shit. He knows he hasn't changed things up for a while, but it feels different saying it aloud — "with the Alliance, up until a couple years ago. Things got a little rough for me, coming up on Earth, and they were my ticket to get out and off-planet. I enlisted as soon as I was legally allowed... my test scores didn't really make the cut but, luckily, being biotic did. Stuck with them since."
He chews thoughtfully on a tough spoonful of cold calamari. He finds suddenly that it's lost its taste, and that's nothing to do with the new-and-improved Gardner.
"... until two years ago. My ship — the original Normandy — we were hit by the Collectors. The same bastards we're tracking now, the ones behind the colony abductions. Blew her to pieces. Scattered my people across the galaxy while I was lying on a bed in a lab." The words are like sandpaper in his throat. He swallows the bitterness that came up with them, digging fingers into his hair to put pressure against the ache that rose at the memory of it. It was still like yesterday... bridged by a sea of months-long dreams (roaring in his head like static. he was drifting through the stars, already a corpse. there was pain. his ribs burnt; his chest felt as though it were collapsing. there was no air in his lungs. each passing moment an eternity. how long could this go on?), punctured in between by moments of muddled waking. Despite how long his dreams had felt, it was still like yesterday.
Like yesterday that he'd yanked Joker from the pilot's chair, forcibly dragged him to a lifepod amidst the fires and the wreckage swallowing their ship. Still like yesterday that he watched the pieces of the Normandy piercing the atmosphere of Alchera, bursting into flame (and he remembers thinking that it was kind of beautiful — like the glow of falling stars), as he listened to the dying of his heartbeat pounding in his skull.
He shakes the thoughts away, pulling his hand away from his head. There's not enough time that he can afford to waste it reliving dead memories.
"The only reason Cerberus has any say in how I handle the Collectors is because they're the only ones looking into this. They're funding this mission... they brought me back, built me a new ship. Still — the second I could, I went back to the human embassy on the Citadel. Figured maybe I could find a way to get back into the Alliance... maybe get some backing from the Council, get some real traction there on the missing colonists.
"But... batarians and pirates." He shoves his bowl aside, leaning an elbow on the tabletop to press a calloused palm against his mouth. It's the only way that he can shove down the spiteful laugh that would've otherwise burst. "That's what they're blaming all of this on. What a load of horseshit."
As if they were doing anything about that presumption, either. What had they done for all the colonies in the Verge, all those years before the Blitz?

clint's au verses + notes
as a general rule of thumb, @/thefleetfinest regardless of verse or ship, mel's leonard mccoy is clint's sober buddy/sponsor always. assume he is in all of these verses. Or if i have written him in / if he is referenced like an npc assume it's mel's leonard. // mass effect and dragon age may go single ship as well to be determined
star trek // to boldly go // single ship: @/crisispider
Set in the Kelvin timeline
One of five helmsman on the Enterprise, he is typically Sulu's alternate and typically takes the night shift
Post Beyond, he is contemplating a career change from pilot seat to being a security officer thinking his skillset may be better used not glued to monitoring flight controls (actually its the paranoia and trauma)
He doesn't join Starfleet Academy until he is 33, after being an entertainer from the age of 14 to 32 when he got a divorce
He's an odd one, not the most authority friendly
Manages sobriety alongside Leonard Mccoy after an incident with John Walker in the final year of academy before the Nero crisis
Divorced and sad except now he is a committed relationship with engineer Peter and he makes him happy
Friends: Leonard, Uhura, Carol, Peter and Linda. Iowan Alliance with Jim
wastelands // you can run on for a long time sooner or later god'll cut you down
Can follow either the comics or the podcast for plot and canon in terms of events
Drinking again
An absolute disaster and bastard of an old man
Blind from glaucoma
wastelands inspired au // something in the orange tells me we're not done (single ship w/ crisispider)
features my "oc" ashley parker barton, blood related to barney barton, adopted daughter clint barton and peter parker (he is married to peter) as well as peter and mj's daughter mayday
Sadly, he and Leonard are no longer sober
Currently on his revenge quest to kill the T-Bolts and everyone responsible for V-Day
Can be deterred from this suicide revenge quest because well his family is alive
the more fun version of wastelands and more flexible with plot
mass effect // a spectre. smoke and dust and shadow nothing substantial until i chose to be
Canon flexible/divergent setting of the main trilogy // time blind
One of the first few human spectres to come after Commander Shepard (this can happen in the two year gap when shepard is "dead" in me2 // happens post any ending of me3)
Barney and him got off planet of earth when he was only 12 years old, where they both ended up running with a bad crew
That causes a lot of trouble for Clint, but also makes him the best marksmen you could ever pay for
After Barney dies from injuries on a job gone wrong, Clint flips his tune and starts to go after gangs like the gang he ran with (turn vigilante)
There was one specific take down of a splinter pirate crew, that had lead to Clint meeting and working with high ranking Alliance officer Steve Rogers and engineer Tony Stark (not just a phony tony stark; but the Tony Stark of wealth and fame)
The meeting of these two, would later prove beneficial, when Clint would be set up by ex partners-in-crime and would lead up to arrested on the Citadel, awaiting Council judgement
Rogers and Stark had apparently been keeping an eye on Clint, and not only bailed him out with the Council but pitched and vouched; that the Citadel instead turn Clint into one of their operatives. he's got skills that are hard to teach, scary accuracy with any weapon in his hand.
That's how Clint went from orphan to criminal to vigilante to one of the Citadel's few human spectres
Clint has a small crewed ship named the BROKEN ARROW with a varying crew (some details will be static if verse goes singleship)
BROKEN ARROW has two doctors, leonard mccoy (@/thefleetsfinest) and (my) linda carter who specializes in medicinal care for biotics and xenology
Sobriety comes with being a spectre, wanting to be and do better; actually take this seriously as a way to do good in the universe
working an andromeda verse as well
the last of us // had to fight like hell until fight like hell made me one hell of a fighter
Clint's one of the original fireflies; when the group started to rise up in the world
He's always been a resistance guerilla fighter of a guy; doesn't approve of some of the ways that fedra control affected the world
Incredibly resourceful and an invaluable survivalist, almost exclusively uses a bow and arrow
As the fireflies start to lose sight, or as clint finds out about some of their not-so ideal ways of helping people (he is a huge help people guy) he starts to turn away from being a firefly or being the first guy to call them out
dragon age // i will wear the title oathbreaker with pride for no more false demons shall be slain
a born ferelden-er
Has a mabari named lucky
ex templar archer turned mage rights activist
orphaned at age seven with his older brother and became a templar alongside him as the chantry orphanage put pressure upon them that becoming a templar was the maker's intended path
was a mage hunter (and good at it)
quits the order as he finds himself ill with what circles have become, as the chantry does cuts him off from lyrium
turns to alcohol to cope with lyrium addiction and withdrawal
centered around the inquisition timeline, with clint joining up with the inquisition at haven ; favors mage-friendly inquisitors and anti-chantry followers most
can splinter off into two additional verses with one being clint becoming a warden in for da:o / da:a or be a companion for da2
616 // all he ever needed was to trust his own wings
Currently part of Mayor Cage's Thunderbolts
Working on amends with all the Avengers (and hopefully be an Avenger again)
Managing his sobriety well which came about after he was outed as Ronin and events of freefall
He and Kate have reconnected, and he'll usually turn a blind eye for her (sorry Luke and Helen; hawkeye fam always comes first)

Sunday Snippet
Got a bit of an idea in my head this morning for something in Caleb's ME2 'verse. Here's a bit of what I've been able to capture so far...
~~
How she ditches Shepard on Omega is a mystery she’ll never solve.
Melting into the crowds is easy if you dress right…but her street clothes are more suited to Rio or New York than the run down, dingy districts of Omega. And Shepard is excellent at sifting out what does and does not belong. If anyone is going to spot her, he will.
I stick out like a sore thumb. Why did I think Omega would be a good place to meet?
Abby darts to her left, disappearing into the shadows of an alleyway behind one of the more popular eating establishments. A brush of her fingers across her omni-tool helps minimize even the subtlest of movement for the next few minutes.
She’s going to owe Kasumi big time for this upgrade. Hopefully, the results will be worth it.
Cautiously weaving her way through the back streets, she makes up for lost time. She should have been at the rendezvous point by now but slipping away from Shepard’s party without being seen had taken far longer than she had planned for.
Ahead of her, a silhouetted shape steps between her and the orange and green shop sign at the end. Sucking in a quick breath, Abby flattens her back against the building and waits.
Not one of your brighter ideas, Abbs.
Abby swallows tightly and counts to fifteen. Not NOW, sis!
You are supposed to be his friend!
Abby bites her lip, and the silhouette takes two steps in her direction.
Why are you going behind his back?
I am doing this because I am his friend!
The dark shape pauses, glancing back over his shoulder then retreats.
Abby sighs out her breath softly and waits another twenty seconds before moving forward.
