{Vi can’t sleep so you bring her back to bed}
I want to put her in my pocket </3
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾
Vi used to be a really light sleeper before she met you. The tiniest of creaks or the slightest movements would make her jolt out of dreamland— the joys of spending years in prison she supposes. Being forced to constantly watch your back just in case. Everything was a threat in there, the inmates, the guards. It was literally hell on earth.
Nights were better with you. Sleeping by your side with her head nestled either on your tummy or in the crook of your neck. Oh, sleep had never been so easy, you were warm and so very soft. Your breathing lulled her and the safety of your embrace was a balm to her soul. As long as you were with her, then she would be fine.
Tonight was just a bad night. Violet had spent a good five minutes tossing and turning, at the very cusp of sleep but never finding that peace. It was pissing her off, so with a kiss to your bare shoulder she slips out of bed as carefully as possible and down to the garage to work on her gauntlets— the right one had been broken for weeks.
That’d been what?— her eyes flit up to the clock on the shelf above her workstation, 3:05 AM taunting her in bright red LED lights. She groans, rolling her head from side to side. Almost two whole hours and she’s gotten nowhere, so much for the groundbreaking works of Hextech… yeah that was definitely to blame not the fact that her eyes were burning, her body screaming at her to rest.
“Fucking piece of—” she cuts herself off from her frustrated ramblings with a groan, throwing the screwdriver onto the table, the jarring clang of metal against metal only drives to annoy her more.
She was far too in her own head to even notice the door opening and closing behind her— it’s only when she feels the warmth of your palm against her shoulder does she snap into reality, flinching slightly at the unexpected touch.
“Shit, baby. Scared the crap out of me.” her tone instantly softens within seconds, big hand resting over the top of yours.
“Sorry, sorry. I didn’t mean to.” You whisper, yawning mid-sentence.
God, she’s instantly hit with an overwhelming wave of guilt the moment her blue eyes meet your oh-so-sleepy ones— your voice still gruff having been woken up by presumably her, which doesn’t make her feel any better.
“Don’t be silly, it’s fine.” Violet chuckles, turning around on the stool she was perched on, making space for you to stand in between her legs— her hands resting over your hips.
“You look like you’re about to fall over,” yeah, she feels it too. Even more so when you brush the pad of your thumb just under her eye— along the small ‘VI’ tattoo on her cheek, the warmth of your soft palm making her sigh. “What’re you doing up, baby?”
“Mmm, can't sleep.” She replies almost sheepishly, strong arms snaking around your waist to draw your body closer to her— head snugly resting against your chest, nuzzling into the fabric of her hoodie you’re wearing. Oh isn’t that a sight for sore eyes?
“Why’s that huh?” You ask, pressing a delicate kiss to her hairline, black clinging to the red tresses that had begun to fade- it oddly suited her.
She doesn’t answer your question, she’s never been the best at speaking on her feelings— so she pulls back, fingers tugging on the end of the hoodie with a smirk. “You look good in this,” you roll your eyes, not having any of it.
“I know I do. Tell me what’s keeping you up?” Vi scoffs in amusement, brows raising, her blue eyes flickering up to you in slight surprise- although she shouldn't be, she knows that you see right through her.
She dips her hands beneath the hoodie to caress the bare skin of your waist ever so gently, rough fingertips skimming along your curves. “Nothing particular— m’just restless tonight, I guess.” Her face softens as she speaks, “Can’t shut my mind off.” She looked so pitiful in this light, lips slightly pursed, looking up at you through her eyelashes.
She thought she might’ve gotten used to this— the way you care for her so intently after so long but at last here she was practically on the verge of tears as you brush your fingers through her hair, hugging her against your chest. God, she felt so pathetic, she’d blame it on the exhaustion.
“You should’ve woken me up.” You whisper, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
At that she chuckles, shaking her head. “You would’ve gotten all grumpy with me if I woke you up at three in the morning babe.”
“I would not have gotten ‘all grumpy’ at you.” You huff, slightly offended.
Vi barks a laugh. “Yeah, you definitely would have. The last time I woke you up you nearly took my head off.” You didn’t have to see her to know she was smirking— ah she knew you like the back of her damn hand, so infuriating.
“Because you woke me up at two to tell me a joke, that wasn’t even funny.” Well, now that was just mean! She pokes your tummy in retaliation, making you squirm slightly with a yelp.
Your hands swat at hers, shooing them away. “Was hilarious,” she yawns against you, face pressed into you. “You just don’t appreciate my comedic brilliance.”
“Comedic nightmare more like.” She pinches your side once more, toned arms tugging you down to take a seat on her thigh using the opportunity to nose at your jaw. “Meanie,” her words muffled against your cheek.
“Mhm, m'just playing. Now, come to bed before you crash face-first into the table.” You whisper, kissing over her cheek and just above that tiny scar on her brow— thumb brushing along her jaw.
Violet knows she can’t keep herself up any longer than she already has, even if the thought of sleeping feels a little daunting right now. Her arms tighten around you the tiniest bit, sighing in contentment as your fingers massage the nape of her neck in a way that turns her into a puddle— yeah okay, maybe sleep wasn’t the worst thing if you kept touching her like that.
“Only if you keep doing that,” she murmurs to which you hum in agreement, biting back a giggle as she all but groans against your shoulder.
“M’Kay, c’mon then.” Then she’s hauling you up bridal style, enjoying the way you cling to her like a scared kitten as she walks up the stairs and into your shared bedroom. Violet finds sleep sooner than she thought, the magic touch of your hands— paired with those gentle kisses you shower her face with has her snoring into your neck in record time, her thigh draped over your hips effectively trapping you against the bed. You wouldn’t have it any other way.

easy (part 2) (bucky barnes x gn!reader)
Tumblr media
content: secret relationship/established relationship, miscommunication/misunderstanding, angst, self-doubt, mentions of death, cheating (kind of), not proofread
notes: part two this this...good luck lmao (a short one but it’s the right length i fear)
main masterlist
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You’d been woken up by the sounds of knocks on your door. They started off normal and quickly became more frantic…aggressive, even.
The sound of your name made you sit up on the floor. Suddenly, the door pushed open—revealing Bucky there. His hair was disheveled, clearly having run his hands through it. He hadn’t bothered with saying hi, kneeling in front of you and looking you over.
He cupped your face, “Are you okay?” He pressed into you more, nudging you to sit up. “What are you doing down here?”
You reached out to him, making sure you hadn’t tricked yourself, that he was really here.
He continued, “What happened? Sharon said you disappeared and she couldn’t find you.”
Somehow Bucky was missing the point. You could only blink at that, knowing that his energy was so misplaced. Why would he care about you right now when this entire relationship had so quickly gone awry? Why would he focus on you being on the floor when he ruined this—him.
Bucky spoke again, rubbing his hands up and down your arms. “I called you a shit ton, where’s your phone?”
“Don’t know.”
He paused, confused at your first and only words to him being so carelessly spoken. “Steve said he saw you—that you just…ran.“
You nodded. You had ran. Swift motions out of the building and to your place weren’t enough to erase the imagery in your brain. The way Bucky had seemed so carefree—so happy. With someone who wasn’t you, most importantly. A woman who looked so remarkably different than you.
Your skin and body physically repelled him—pushing him away without a thought. Moving to stand, you watched his face twist in hurt.
“How was recon?”
“It was fine…am I missing something?”
You ignored the question, asking your own. “You said Steve told you he saw me?” He nodded. “Did he know who I was?”
“Course he knew who you were—he’s my best friend.”
You bought your in front of you, wringing them together. “Does she?” The question was meant to quell your anxiety, but instead made the prospect of him cheating infinitely harder to swallow. You looked at him expectantly, an answer seeming to escape him—despite you both knowing what happened that evening.
“Does who?”
“Natasha…Romanoff…the one you went on recon with.” You moved your head as you slowly spoke the words—breaking it down for him. “Does she know about me? About us?”
“You know that we keep this a secret for your safety. We’ve talked about this a thousand times-“
“No, you keep it a secret and you've talked about it.” You moved to sit on the couch, “I agreed because I love you and I understand the stress of your job. But what I saw today,” you shook your head and looked up at him across the room. “That wasn’t a secret for my benefit. It was for yours.”
“That’s just not true.” Bucky moved from his spot, finally, stepping across the room to sit beside you. “You have to understand my perspective on this. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I was the cause of anything happening to you.”
You twisted your entire face, staring up with an incredulous look. “Did you stop to consider how much worse it would be to have to live with the knowledge of you doing god knows what every time you’re not here?” You paused, feeling his hands attempt to wrap around you. Moving back instantly, you continued, “What happened with her? What haven’t I seen?”
“Nothing.” Bucky waved his hands in front of him, emphasizing his words. “Nothing happened-“
“I saw you. Sharon showed me the feed, Bucky.”
His face glazed over in realization—not that you had seen him with her, but that you had seen him with her. Bucky’s head started to move on its own, searching for how to make sense of this for you. “That wasn’t what it looked like.”
A huff escaped you. Without a second thought you got up and moved toward the door, Bucky right on your trail. “If we’re gonna act like this you can just go.” You put a hand on the door handle, raising a brow at him. “You of all people know I won’t sit here and look stupid. Not when I’ve already wasted so much time waiting for you.”
A moment passed, the reality of what you were saying lingering in the room. The two of you had talked about it before, how you’d waited so long for someone like him to appear. There’d been years of self discovery and “loving yourself first” before Bucky showed you that someone else could. When that happened, you settled for the relationship existing in its very specific confines—under the lock and key of his life’s restrictions. Even then, he’d get a call; people needed him. Bucky would go away for however long, and you’d wait. The amount of time spent yearning for the world to suddenly be quicker for you, for him, was immense. In every instance it seemed that despite the relatively common cosmic occurrences he’d faced, none of Bucky’s opponents could grant your wish—to get the man you loved back to you sooner.
“I’m sorry,” he finally spoke. You watched his hands ball into a fist, angered with himself. The mechanical whir of his arm filling the empty space. “I don’t feel that way about her.”
You scoffed at that. He sounded so textbook it was physically making you ill.
He continued, though, “She’s been my friend for a long time. We spend a lot of time together…and I wanted to tell her about you.” He inhaled, “But I didn’t. I don’t know why.”
“Did you sleep with her?”
“Of course not…and she kissed me. I regret making her feel like there was even a slight chance of me seeing her that way—because I don’t. I can’t.” His voice wavered, “Can’t because I only love you.”
He reached a hand out to you and it caused you to move away from him—impossibly closer to the door.
“Bucky…I don’t think I can do this.”
“Doll, please-“
You waved a hand, interrupting him, “Wait—just…listen.” You let go of the door, fully looking at him now. “I don’t think I can be with you if it’s like this.” He let you continue, “I know you want to protect me, but all of this has hurt me more than it could’ve ever helped. I feel so removed from you—like I don’t know you outside of our apartment walls.” Sweat had accumulated on your palms, making you realize how anxiety-inducing this had been. “I haven’t felt confident in myself around you in…a while-“
“But-“
“Bucky, please.” He nodded, stilling himself in commitment to let you speak. “That’s not your fault…but I think I need space to figure out why that is.”
Bucky whispered your name, a shakiness on his voice. “I just…can’t stomach the idea of you dead…dying...because of me.”
“I would’ve.” You moved to open the door. “I think I would’ve been fine facing death as long as everyone knew I loved you first.” You stepped back from the threshold and offered him the space to step out. “But they don’t. Nobody knows except us. That hurts.”
Bucky didn’t speak as he stepped toward the hall. His entire figure seemed to hang lower than normal, and it pained you to see. You felt the heat of tears in your eyes, but you wouldn’t cry. There was a sort of satisfaction in facing this—breaking up with Bucky. It was always going to happen, you reasoned, so bearing your soul…crying…would’ve been too easy.

jealousy, jealousy | birds of a feather
pairings: paige bueckers x black!oc
summary: rocky schedules cause a drift in paige and cecilia’s relationship
warnings: jealous paige jealous paige jealous paige
notes: y’all i hate nova this time of year. everyone is on guard (rightfully so!) and tell me why i saw a tr*mp truck on my way to school 😐
Tumblr media
Paige never considered herself the jealous type. Heck, she even bragged to many of her teammates that's the word didn't exist in her relationship. She loved Cecilia, Cecilia loved her. The same story for years now and everyone knew it. But, with the two of them both being in season and traveling, their window for their usual FaceTimes has shrunk and their texts have become brief. Paige's security in the relationship was shaken.
Tumblr media
"Hi, I'm Cecilia and this is-" Cecilia pointed to her two friends on either side of her.
"Gavi-"
"and Pedri."
"And this is the best friends test," They all said together, Cecilia sounding much more upbeat than the other two.
"Here's how to the game goes, we all take turn asking questions and the other two write it down on the whiteboard so whoever gets it right, gets a point," Cecilia explained to the camera.
Cecilia grinned at the camera. "Alright, let's kick this off. First question: What's my favorite color?"
Gavi and Pedri scribbled furiously on their whiteboards before holding them up in unison.
"Yellow!" they both said at the same time, sounding like a rehearsed choir.
Cecilia clasped her hands together, looking touched. "Awww, you guys know me so well!"
Pedri smirked. "That was the easiest question ever."
"Don't get cocky," Cecilia shot back, flipping her cue card. "Here's a harder one: Who did I make my debut against?"
Both boys froze, their markers hovering over their boards.
"Uh... Sevilla?" Pedri guessed hesitantly.
"No, no, it was Espanyol," Gavi said with the confidence of someone who was absolutely wrong.
Cecilia gave them both a disappointed look. "Wrong and wrong. It was Real Madrid."
Gavi's eyebrows furrowed. "Your debut was El Clasico? That's crazy, why would they do that?"
"Cause I'm the greatest. But, yeah, no pressure or anything," Cecilia shrugged nonchalantly. "Just 90 minutes of running in the biggest game against Spain at the age of fourteen. Totally chill. Just another day being the best.”
"Shut up," Pedri rolled his eyes.
Cecilia laughed as she wiped the imaginary dust off her hands. "Okay, my turn's done. Gavi, you're up!"
Gavi smirked as he grabbed the question card in front of him. "Alright, let's see if you two actually know me. First question: What's my go-to meal after a hard match?”
Cecilia and Pedri immediately started scribbling on their whiteboards.
"Pizza," Cecilia said confidently, holding up her board.
"McDonald's," Pedri countered, grinning as he turned his board around.
Gavi pointed at Pedri. "He's right. McDonald's all the way."
Cecilia groaned. "Seriously? You're an elite athlete, and you're eating McNuggets after games? Nourish your body, dummy."
"Don't judge me, C," Gavi defended. "Next question: What's my biggest fear?"
Cecilia raised an eyebrow. "Oh, this is easy." She quickly wrote something down.
Pedri hesitated, tapping his marker against his chin before finally scribbling something.
"Alright, show me," Gavi demanded.
"Spiders," Cecilia said, flipping her board.
"Practice after a game with a lot of yellow cards," Pedri guessed, his grin wide and teasing.
Gavi's face dropped as Cecilia and Pedri laughed. "Haha, so funny Pedri, but the answer is spiders."
Cecilia pumped her fist in the air. "Finally, some points for me!"
"Alright, it's my turn," Pedri said, leaning back in his chair with a smug look. "Let's start with an easy one: What's my favorite TV show?"
Gavi rolled his eyes. "Oh, come on, we all know this."
Cecilia wrote something down quickly, her tongue poking out in concentration.
"Ready? One, two, three!" Pedri called.
"Money Heist," Cecilia said, holding her board up.
"Money Heist," Gavi echoed, flipping his board.
Pedri nodded. "Yep. Too easy. Next question: How old was I when I scored my first professional goal?"
Cecilia furrowed her brow. "Ugh, this is a trick question. I know it."
"Why would it be a trick question?" Gavi asked, already writing.
"Because everything with Pedri is a trick question," Cecilia replied, jotting down her answer.
"Alright, answers?" Pedri said.
"Seventeen," Cecilia guessed.
"Sixteen," Gavi said confidently.
Pedri shook his head, grinning. "You're both wrong. I was seventeen and three months."
Cecilia groaned. "You're the worst. Who even remembers the months?"
Pedri smirked. "A winner, that's who."
After a few more rounds, the three friends were in tears from laughing, their boards covered in half-erased answers and doodles.
"So who won?" Gavi asked, leaning over to tally the scores.
Pedri squinted at the paper. "Cecilia. By half a point."
"What?" Gavi exclaimed. "That's rigged! She probably cheated."
Cecilia gasped dramatically. "Excuse me? I'm just smarter than you two combined."
Pedri shrugged. "She's not wrong."
Gavi crossed his arms, pouting. "Next time, we're doing a test where I get to choose all the questions."
"Good luck with that," Cecilia teased. "We all know you'd still lose."
The video ended with the three of them laughing, Cecilia tossing an eraser at Gavi, who pretended to dodge it in slow motion.
Paige watched as the video faded to black, her chest filling with an indescribable feeling. A rather uncomfortable warmth accompanied by a sharp tug in her chest and a knot in her throat that made it hard to breathe.
"P," Nika called out. "You good?"
"Yeah," Paige's teeth were clenched. "I'm good."
Tumblr media
Paige was head over heels for Cecilia and when they missed a day of talking, it felt like withdrawals. While Cecilia found this trait of Paige endearing, the same cannot be said for her teammates and friends.
"Paige! Shut the fuck up, please," Azzi groaned.
"I miss her, Azzi. My heart hurts," Paige complained as she clutched her chest dramatically. "My heart feels like it's going to explode."
"Let it," Nika mumbled in passing.
Paige sighed and trudged to her room throwing herself on the bed. She opened TikTok and went through her routine whenever she missed Cecilia, watching her edits.
Paige scrolled through the app enjoying the many thirst trap edits of her girlfriend when a certain in came across her screen. It's started out normal but a clip from an interview with Jana popped up and it turned on to a ship edit to the song Glue by Beabadoobee.
Paige knew she shouldn't have, but she clicked on the comments.
the ultimate barca couple 🗣️
they need to get together already 😭
bruh they are so cute
That same unsettling warmth filled Paige again. An uneasy, persistent ache grew in her stomach as she quickly swiped out of the app.
Tumblr media
"Hey, Amor," Cecilia smiling face took up Paige's phone. Paige instantly sent her a smile yet. This is the first time she saw her girlfriend the whole week with their schedules keeping them apart.
"Hey, baby. I was thinking-" Paige was interrupted by a voice calling for Cecilia.
"Cari!" The voice of Ona Batlle rang through the small hallway where Cecilia was hiding. " Per què t'amagues aquí? (Why are you hiding here?)"
"Parlant amb la Paige sense que la Pina i la Patri em molestessin (Talking to Paige without Pina and Patri bothering me)," Cecilia answered as she smiled up at Ona from the floor.
"Okay, Cari," Ona planted a quick kiss on Cecilia's cheek before patting her head. "Assegureu-vos de dinar, d'acord. (Make sure to get lunch, okay.)"
"Si, si," Cecilia dismissed and swatted Ona's hands away before the older girl made her way to the cafeteria. "What were you saying, Amor?"
Paige gave her a tight lipped smile, with the unpleasant warmth filling her chest, "It's not important, don't worry about it, babe."
Tumblr media
Paige tossed and turned, before she settled on her back, staring at her dorm ceiling. After a Google search and looking at advice videos on TikTok, Paige has chalked up the odd emotion she's been feeling was jealousy. She had never felt the feeling before in her relationship with Cecilia. With both of their careers taking off their usual everyday talks had dwindled down, and seeing Cecilia getting shipped with her teammates hurt Paige.
The blonde looked at her alarm clock that read 11:04 pm. She knew it was 5 in Barcelona but her brain moved on autopilot as she reached for her phone and dialed Cecilia's number. After the second ring, the call was answered by the groggy twenty year old.
"Amor? Are you okay?" Cecilia asked, attempting to rub the sleep out of her eyes.
"Are you in love with someone else?" Paige blurts out. Cecilia then sat up in bed, wide and awake.
"Amor, what?"
"Do you love Gavi or Pedri or Ona or anyone else in Spain?" Paige restated.
Cecilia shook her head, not comprehending what Paige could be asking right now. "What? Amor— no. There's no one else I love. What's been up with you lately? Háblame."
Paige sighed, her free hand coming up to rub at her temple as she tried to find the right words. "I don't even know where to start. It's just... lately, things have felt different, and I've been overthinking everything. You're all the way in Spain, and I'm here, and we barely get to talk like we used to. And then I see those videos of you with Gavi, Pedri, Ona, and your whole team..." She paused, her voice catching. "And I see the way people ship you with them, and it just... it hurts, Cece."
Cecilia's heart sank as she listened. "Paige," she said softly, her voice laced with concern.
"I know it's stupid, okay?" Paige continued, her words tumbling out now. "I know they're just your friends, and you're close with them because you spend so much time together, but I can't help it. I've never felt this... jealous before. And I hate feeling this way because I trust you—I do—but my brain just won't shut up."
Cecilia stayed quiet for a moment, letting Paige vent. Then, she took a deep breath and spoke, her tone calm but firm. "Amor, listen to me. You're the only person I love. You're my person. Always and forever. Not Gavi, not Pedri, not Ona—none of them. They're my friends, yes, and I love spending time with them, but it's not the same kind of love. What I feel for you? It's on a completely different level."
Paige sniffled softly, her fingers gripping her phone tightly. "But you're so far away, Cece. And they get to see you every day. They get to laugh with you, be around you, while I'm just... here. I feel like I'm losing you, even if I know that's not true."
"You're not losing me," Cecilia said with conviction, her voice softening again. "I promise, you're not. I know things have been tough lately with our schedules, and I hate that I can't talk to you as much as I want. But no matter how busy things get, you're always in my heart, Paige. I think about you every day, and I can't wait for the moment I can hold you again."
Paige let out a shaky breath, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just needed to hear that."
"And I'll remind you every day if you need me to," Cecilia said, a small smile creeping into her tone. "This is new for us, being apart for this long, not finding time to visit, but we're a team, remember? We'll figure it out, like we always do."
Paige finally let herself relax, the tension melting away from her body. "I love you, Cece. I'm sorry for being so insecure."
"Don't apologize for how you feel," Cecilia said. "It's okay to feel like this. Just talk to me, okay? No more holding it in until you're randomly calling me at five in the morning.”
Paige laughed softly, the sound making Cecilia's heart swell. "Deal."
"Good," Cecilia said warmly. "Now, get some sleep, Amor. I'll call you tomorrow, and we'll figure out a time to talk more often, okay?"
"Okay," Paige murmured, a soft smile forming on her lips. "Goodnight, Cece."
"Goodnight, mi amor. Sweet dreams."

self aware caleb
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | slight smut chapter
it's been around a month now.
you come back home from a long day and open the game immediately, wanting to talk to your now self aware.....friend? what is he? whatever. to caleb.
"hey, y/n," he greets you blankly. something about him seemed off though, a little speck of anger looming over his face. "what's wrong? you look annoyed," you point out.
"the storyline just doesn't make sense! why did they make me so weird and creepy?" he whines, making you laugh. "i found you a little hot because of it but yeah, you were......well," you scratch your nape with an apologetic smile.
"you need some help if you find that hot," he states making you snort. "say, why'd you pick this game?" he asks you.
"just wanted to feel less lonely and now i gush over five hot guys," you respond with a little shame in your tone. "pick one," he demands scrutinizingly.
"hmm..." you pretend to think for a while just to tease him. your amusement increases when his frown deepens. "definitely not you," you answer, the playful tone giving it away. he flicks the screen to show you his disappointment. "such a big liar."
you talked to caleb all night, letting the conversation lead its way to random topics. it was easy and comfortable, not having to restrict or conform yourself to fit into a mold of norms.
"gee, your fingers are so long," you remark absentmindedly. "yeah, you would get a first-hand experience if you were here," he says with a smug smile while remembering that one time he heard you doing.....things, trying to elicit a reaction out of you. "huh?" you let out, dumbfounded. you gasp in realisation of what he meant and your cheeks warm up.
"if you were here, i would've smacked the living shit out of you," you say with a playful threatening tone. "oh, really?" he teases.
"are you seriously doubting my ability to demolish you?" you fake-gasp. "what do ya think, missy?"
"from this day onwards, peasants like you shall not possess the right to freedom of speech, you will only speak when spoken to and the rest of the time, you shall shut the fuck up," you say with an authoritative tone, making him laugh in amusement.
"alright, alright. check your messages," he urges you, snapping his fingers. "huh? in-game chats?" you question, confused at the sudden demand. "no, silly. your actual chats."
you quickly exit the game to check. "do it faster, slowpoke," you hear him say. "you look like an angry hamster right now," he teases you, making you relax your face.
'hey y/n'
'guess who'
you stare at the texts blankly. you blink after a while of silence. "what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fu-" "don't start that again," he interrupts you.
"holy shit, you can text me?" you were so close to hitting yourself in the head. "mhm, just had to work a little harder," he sings.
he pops up onto your screen and you watch him as he shifts from his seat to adjust to a more comfortable position.
"i don't even wanna ask how," you close your eyes and sigh. a little happy, a little exhausted, and very much in need for sleep.
"caleb," you call out. "hm?"
"can you wake me up in an hour? i wish i could talk for longer but i'm so close to passing out and i have to complete some assignments," you request him.
"of course, lemme see your face while you sleep. i'll take pictures and obsess over it creepily for the next ten years so you'll never feel safe again," he says nonchalantly. "that sounds like a dream come true," you remark sarcastically. "that's what they made me to be," his face twists in slight disgust.
he rambles a little longer before finally shutting up when he noticed your drowsy state.
"sleep well, loser," he flicks at the screen. "mhm, g'night," you smile lazily before turning the lights off.
something about you felt liberating to him. after being controlled his entire life by a script, being forced to act clinically insane, a break from it all was what he needed.
he pondered over it after he became self aware. his feelings, that is. for so long, he believed that he loved that girl from his childhood, but the sudden realisation that it was all not in his control brought him more comfort instead of fear.
but the worst part of it all was the attraction he felt towards you. so familiar but so far away from what he would consider knowing someone. he was afraid of what was coming for both of you. if he couldn't control his feelings from spiralling against him, he's unsure if he could make you happy.
"you are really something, huh?" he whispers while staring longingly at your sleeping form in the dark room. he quickly covers his mouth when he hears you shuffling in your sleep. "y/n?" he calls out, wanting to make sure you were asleep. with no response from your side, he sighs in relief.
he doodles random things in his notebook while listening to your soft snores.
he hears the sound of a notification, making him straighten his back in alarm before realising it was on your phone. he notices it was a text from someone.
(an actual conversation between me and my best friend's boyfriend from when we were 15)

😵
he gets off the app, feeling bad for putting you in trouble.
"wake up, sleepyhead," he calls out after realising an hour had passed already. you groan and shift from your position. "five more minutes....please," you whine softly. 'adorable,' he thought to himself.
"your friend texted you, and i might have caused some trouble," he says, not even a single hint of regret in his tone. "what?!" you spring up. "i think his name is andy, fun guy," he remarks. you quickly check all the texts and groan.
"caleb! i'm so close to detonating, he's gonna kill me," you whine out. "first human i talked to other than you, worth it," he smirks.
"you have zero sense of boundaries for a game character so handsome, i hate you so much," you say with a frown. "ya think i'm handsome?" you wanted to wipe off that smug grin on his face with a slap.
"please don't do this again, i have no energy to deal with the buttload of questions i'm gonna face tomorrow. like boyfriend, really? is that the most creative thing you could come up with?" you nag him. honestly, it didn't bother you much. it's not like you had a great sense of boundaries either. you kinda may or may not like it when someone's so fully and absolutely involved in every part of your life, or maybe it's the loneliness talking.
"aw, thought you would find it funny. sorry, won't happen again," he says with actual regret laced in his voice. "is it really that serious?"
"no, not really. just- just make sure to speak to people whom i won't have to go through hell with right after," you tell him. "i'll introduce them all to you before you decide you wanna ruin my life."
he snorts before smiling at you. your dishelved hair and slightly puffy face looked adorable to him. he kept staring at you as you moved your phone a little further away to show yourself more to him.
he took in your features, his eyes trailing down from your forehead, to your eyes, to your nose, to your pretty lips that were slightly parted, to your collarbones, and finally stopping at your chest.
his cheeks turned red when he noticed your nipples poking out from your thin shirt. not wanting to oversexualize every part of you, he looked away. but he couldn't help but remember that night, your soft moans echoing through his mind.
it didn't help when you sucked on your lower lip to get rid of the dryness. the boner in his pants was ever so visible now, and you were doing nothing to make the situation better. he groans in discomfort, wanting to get rid of his jeans.
"is everything alright?" you ask him with concern. "oh- yeah, i just stubbed my toe," he quickly replies. you wince at the thought and go back to getting your books out.
"i'll finish my assignments, is it okay if i read my material out loud?" you question him. he looked at you before nodding, noticing how your eyes looked so pretty.
he sneakily removes his pants and boxers, unable to contain his neediness inside. he slowly rubs along his shaft while looking at you intently. oh god, the moment he hears your voice, he couldn't help but remember that night again. he bites his lip, trying not to groan.
his movements accelerate as he imagines your fucked out face, so pliant, just for him. the way he would kill to see you taking all of him inside you, tears staining your cheeks while he goes rouge on your pussy. the thought of you being completely unaware of the sinful thoughts he was having right now made the atmosphere all the more unbearable.
he could imagine your back arching, writhing in pleasure as he pounds into you, hickeys scattered all over your chest. he would take you over and over again until you see stars. he was getting closer and closer to his climax.
just as he was about to cum, you let out an 'ow' when you hit your hand to your desk when you were stretching which sounded awfully similar to a moan, and boy did he cum so hard. thick spurts of white liquid squirted onto his screen, and he felt so dirty. he continued fisting himself, drawing out his orgasm before stopping.
then it dawned upon him the realisation of what he had just done. and he didn't feel a single bit sorry for it. he cleaned everything up, making it seem like he didn't just masturbate looking at you.

Note
I– I need to ask.
HOW DO YOU DO THIS?? Like, share your thoughts with everyone. Because I've been working on my universe for about three years now, AND I STILL FEEL LIKE IT'S NOT READY. At the same time, I’m still afraid to share these things...
So. How do you do it?D:
Alright my answer will seem a bit harsh and/or cruel, but know that I mean it in the most kind, genuine, and gentle way possible, i just don’t know how to word it any other way
With that in mind
Anon, you’re never going to be ready to share it, and the fear will always linger, you will never be 100% confident of what you share
And that’s ok
Again, I know that i make it seem super easy, but I promise that I’m just as afraid to share my ideas as anyone else (I’m a perfectionist, and that also contributes to my fear to share things)
It’s just, I think of it this way
I have an idea, and I got two choices
Either
1- I keep overthinking it, and succumb to my worries and fears when it comes to my idea, and keep my ideas with me, never to see the light of day
Or
2- I acknowledge that I’m afraid, acknowledge that my idea might not be perfect or ready, acknowledge that there might be flaws that I will probably notice later and even feel stupid about it, and still share my ideas anyway regardless of the voice in my head telling me to “wait a little more”
I usually go for choice number 2
The art and writing process is complicated, it’s so not easy to write something and feel ready to share it, no matter how much time it takes, you will never ever feel truly and utterly ready to share it, you’ll have that worry in your mind that maybe it’s stupid, or incomplete, or inconsistent or whatever else
And guess what? Sometimes, the worried voice in your head is completely right
But what matters is how you tackle it
Even if you share an idea, remember that you can always change your mind about it, you can absolutely go back and say, I don’t like that idea anymore and so I’ll remove/ change/ replace it
Ideas are never set in stone, you change and grow as a person as so do your ideas, they grow and change with you as you learn more and more, and sometimes they don’t, they don’t change at all, and that’s ok too
You can’t keep worrying about whether the story or idea you’re working on is ready or complete, because all you’re going to do is just walk around in circles and end up never sharing anything at all
It’s ok to be worried, but you can’t let your worries control you, of course, it’s not easy to ignore your worries, but it’s better than feeling stuck with your ideas
I myself do deal with these worries a lot, most of the time i just tell my brain “shut up” and share my ideas anyway, other times my worries do get the best of me and i tend to keep some ideas to myself
But sharing your ideas is actually essential for you to actually be able to work on them and refine them, because people might start asking questions or giving really good feedback that you actually sit with yourself to think about
But what if they ask you a question and you don’t know the answer to it? That’s actually a good thing, it’ll make you sit down and think of how to connect the dots and answer it, not only does it mean you’re actually making progress on your story/ideas, but these kinda questions help you understand different perspectives and by that, you learn and grow in your writing
It’s ok to be worried and to keep ideas to yourself sometimes, but don’t let them fester, because believe me, eventually your passion is gonna burn out because you kept overthinking it to the point it became just a worry than something you enjoy doing
In fact, to give you a bit of motivation, imma actually share one of the ideas I never shared cause I was afraid it’ll be a bit stupid and out of character
And I’m very worried about sharing it, but fuck my worry I do what I want
Remember when I mentioned Dream received one gift from Nightmare, and never received anything after? My idea for that gift was an echo flower he gave Dream, and it echoes one thing “I love you”
Tumblr media
There, I shared it ouuughh the stress of sharing it is killing me actually, but I mean I can keep worrying about it forever, or actually share it and refine it later if I wanted, I choose the latter
And your ideas are never going to be perfect anyway, but you can improve them with time, even after sharing them
That’s all I do really shzggz
So go out there and start sharing anon, fuck anxiety, you can do whatever you want, you’re unstoppable

RAFE AND SELF CARE ✶
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
content ⸝⸝ reader forgetting her self care items at rafe’s, so he does it for her
ྀི pretty niche but
Tumblr media
your dramatic gasp couldn’t stop rafe faster from what he was doing to look up at you. “what? what’s wrong?” he remained still, waiting for your words.
your bottom lip began to slightly tremble and your breath caught. “my.. my skin stuff.. i think i forgot it..”
rafe couldn’t be more confused as he rose his brow. “what? baby, what are you talking about?” he walked over to your side and glanced at the bag you were staring into.
you turned to rafe, upset he wasn’t understanding. you gestured with your hands, words blubbering. “my face wash and things, rafe, i left it.”
rafe tried to understand where your panic was coming from. “okay.. and you need that.. now?”
you stomped, eyes going wide at rafe. “it’s nighttime.. it’s my nighttime routine, yes rafe.” your arms crossed, looking back to your bag hoping the items magically appeared. you huffed when they didn’t.
“alright..” rafe stepped closer, wrapping his arms around you. you peered up at him, pout still on your lips. rafe tugged your lip so it would go away. “i’ll go get your.. stuff. what do you need?”
your eyes went wide again, preening enough you slightly rose to your tip toes. “really?”
you listed off the things you needed, rafe having to pull out his phone to jot them down when you got to more than a of couple things.
“i’ll be right back.. finish unpacking” it was a sleepover night at rafe’s and you were both getting ready for the night when you noticed your missing items.
“okay..” you nodded as he retreated from the room.
when rafe returned, you were already feeling a little sleepy. it was past the time you would have usually done your routine already and would be settling into bed. rafe began pulling out his purchases, listing them off to make sure he didn’t forget anything.
when he finished, he looked up to see you drowsing away. “no, no, baby, you said you need to do this tonight.”
you made a disagreeing noise. “m’tired”
rafe sighed, looking down at the product he held in his hand. “okay..” he looked to the back to find instructions. “easy enough, come on”
he walked over to where you began to snuggle in bed, pulling you up. “can you walk?” rafe’s tone took on a worrying edge. it seemed important to you even though he didn’t quite understand the fuss.
you dramatically went limp in his arms, answering his question. he chuckled down at you. “okay, sweetheart” he gently dragged you into the bathroom, your feet sliding on the floor. you giggled. “wee” you softly said, eyelashes fluttering, your eyes threatening to close.
once you two were in the bathroom, rafe placed you on the counter of the sink, holding you steady for a second. “okay, gi’me a second..” he mumbled, walking back into the room to grab your things.
he laid the bag on the counter next to you. going to grab a bottle, he stopped and pulled back. you curiously looked for what made him stop, but when he pulled his sleeves up to his forearms and began washing his hands, you understood.
“okay..” he was still mumbling a little in concentration as he dried off his hands. he reached for the bottles again, holding up the wash. “this is first, right? washing means a clean slate, yeah?”
his attention to this woke you up a little. “mm hm” you nodded at him.
rafe was about to pour some of the product into his hand when you stopped him. he looked up to you. “what? am i doing it right?”
“yeah.. you just have to put my hair back so it doesn’t get in the way.. that’s what the headband is for” you smiled at his confused expression.
he reached back into the bag, pulling out the fluffy hair accessory. “this thing?” you nodded at him.
“okay..” he took off the packaging, stretching it around in his hands. “’m not sure if this is loose enough.. i don’t want it to hurt you..” he turned it every which way, trying to figure out how far it stretches.
you placed your hands on top of his, halting his movements. you bit your lip to hold in a giggle. “it’ll stretch, i wear these all the time”
rafe still rose at brow at the item in his hands, looking at it like it did something to you. “alright..”
he tugged it over your head, pulling your hair through. he adjusted it a little then moved back. “now do i start?” you gave him the okay, and he went back to starting on your face wash.
his hands were of course gentle as he massaged the product into your skin. he strayed from getting too close to your eyes, having read on the label that the product shouldn’t get near them. once he was finished, he stopped to look at you. “so this is what you do every night? look adorable with your little headband and put this stuff on?”
you sighed. “it’s a process” rafe shook his head at you, looking to the sink. “hm..”
he didn’t want to make you stand to rinse it off, so he thought of a different idea. he grabbed a plush towel from the linen, dampening it with warm water. he turned back to you, grasping your chin lightly, and began to swipe the towel over your face.
once he was finished, he set the towel aside and peeked back into the bag. “what’s next..” he mumbled so quietly you thought it wasn’t a question for you, but more for himself. you remained quiet for a second, seeing if he could figure it out.
he pulled out a bottle, reading the label, then holding it up to you. you shook your head, signaling that wasn’t up next.
rafe nodded, going back into the bag. you swayed your feet a little, feeling content with the moment you two were sharing.
he pulled out another bottle, doing the same, then holding it to you. you nodded with a smile that he got it on his second try. rafe seemed just as happy if not more than you were.
he applied that product as well, pressing his thumbs into your cheeks that made you smile a little. “i needed to see that again” he referred to your smile and it remained on your face once he let go.
you two repeated the process of rafe guessing which product was next until he got to the last one. “now.. what does this one do? i’ve been reading what they all do to your skin, but i don’t get this one” he handed it to you, prompting you to read it and tell him, not liking that he didn’t know what he was about to put on your skin.
you looked at the bottle, seeing what it was. “oh. it just makes my skin glowy” you handed it back to him.
rafe took it, glancing at the bottle, then to you. “okay..”
he finished up your skincare, then took off your headband. “alright, you ready for bed now?” you cut him off with a shake of your head. “lips.”
you couldn’t count the amount times you made rafe raise an eyebrow at you. “lips..?”
you nodded. “the finishing touch. my lip balm” you rifled through the bag, pulling it out. you removed the packaging, placing some on your lips.
once you set it back down, you looked up to see rafe staring at you with a solemn look. “what?”
rafe shook his head, glancing down. “i wanted to do that, it’s fine”
“oh, sorry..” you couldn’t help but smile a little at how upset he actually looked.
“i do this all over again in the morning, how about you put it on for me then?”
he quickly looked up. “yeah?”
you shook your head in a nod. “mm hm, do you think you remember everything..”
rafe nodded before you finished your sentence. “i got it. come on” he grabbed you from the counter, your legs wrapping around his waist.
“gotta get you to bed..” he walked back into the room, setting you down onto the bed, then reaching into your bag to pull out your pj’s.
you giggled softly, watching adoringly at how excited rafe was to do this all over again in the morning.

The moment Cervan turned the handle father burst through the door.
"how dare you! I allowed you to watch over her because I trusted you to keep your hands away. But no. You finally reveal your hand." Fathers eyes landed on you and in an instant he was at your side. "Your hair and dress is mess! Are you alright?"
"Father!" You squeaked. "I'm-i'm fine. Wha-what's going on? Why are you here?"
"What's going on is this snake sent me a farce of a letter!" A crumpled price of parchment was peaking out of father's vest. One with silver handwriting.
"Perhaps it is best to discuss this somewhere else? Perhaps over dinner?" Cervan proposed with a smile. The bastard was enjoying this. Enjoying your confusion. Enjoying your father's fury.
You glance at the grandfather clock. 7:30. "It is rather late." Your stomach agreed. Cervan laughed. "Fine" your father sighed.
The walk to the carriages was short. You could hear whispers here and there. You picked your transport, entered and off you went. Off to who knows where.
You were never one for meditation but you needed to make sense of this mess. What better place to start.
focus. Breath in. Breath out.
Why did silver handwriting so familiar? Something about the game? It been a lifetime since you played it. The game you were playing before you..... ended up here was divided into four levels.
The first two were the tutorial: one where you learned about the world and the layout, how much time you had in your day, and meet the male leads. The other was where you learned what you needed to do. Given small quizzes and events. There were no wrong answers. More of a personality test then anything.
The third was when the dating started. You had to juggle your classes, events, and dates.
The fourth and final level test your knowledge of the game. Questions about the world and characters. It would be easy if you had good memory. If you passed, You'd then be given a opportunity to confess and if your relationship was high enough, you'd received a picture of an envelope.
One wrapped in metallic colors, gold for the envelope, bronze for the stamp and written in silver. One that told you your happy ending.
Not that she ever picked anyone to get her happy ending! There wasn't even a harem ending! How the hell-
Focus. She's not important right now. Breath in. Breath out.
So Cervan sent father a proposal letter. Lovely. Stay calm. He'd need three people's approval for the engagement to through. Your fathers, which would be hard to convince him, given his reaction. The record keepers, his appeal came with checking for previous proposal contracts. And the king, his approval was more ceremonial.
Oh god. The king. What if he tells the first prince? And what if he tells the protagonist? Would she be happy? Upset? Angry? Your certain her harem would be. You getting married before us? How dare-
FOCUS.
Why would he do this? You weren't that important all things considered. You weren't high upon the ladder. You were from a merchants family. One that sold and bought that sought the nobles fancy. One that clawed and scraped enough to buy their title.
You have to admit you weighed the scales in your favor for your little portion. You used your otherworldly knowledge. No lead make ups. No pewter plates. No arsenic paints. You weren't stupid. You only annexed products you could connect injury too.
Perhaps that's why? Your knowledge from the other world? You can't be sure you didn't speak of any of it during your more drunken get togethers. Drink enough and anything could happen. Cervan could of taken advantage but he didn't because he cared for you.
Cervan cared for you.
You paused you musing to glance at him. He met your eyes and smiled. Your face heated up.
Would it be worth it? Marrying him?
You hope so. Because from the look in his eyes you don't think he'll let you go.
" We've arrived." The attendants voice called. Well.... onto dinner you suppose.
Bad End: Kept Safe (1)
[Art by Miu_A]
Tumblr media
You ever give someone advice, knowing full well they aren't going to take it? Even AFTER they have begged and pleaded and WHINED at you, for hours, for it? Even after they poured their heart and soul out to you? And you, a good friend, carefully and tactfully, tried your best to help? LIKE THEY ASKED?
Ever find yourself the designated "run too dramatically weep in the arms off" friend?
I have.
It is hell. I am in hell.
This is my punishment for all those hours I spent reading and playing Otome Isekai junk instead of, I don't know, solving world hunger or something. Because it HAS to be. I am clearly being punished. Repeatedly. By some sort of petty, petty, anime God.
Fuck you too, buddy.
A fresh round of highly dramatic Protagonist sobbing peirces the air. Dear lord, she has a set of lungs on her, does she? It's like an air siren. But more... upset toddler. It was bizarre. I'd LIKED her as a character. I HAD. Bright and cheerful, determined with a good heart. She'd been a bit naive, yes, but she'd grown. Love had changed her for the better.
But THIS?
This was some middle school "he threw away my secret note, that I didn't sign, so that means he HATES MEEEEE~" bullshit. It went on and on and ON! God, it'd been MONTHS! Years!
I made friends with the Protagonist when we were in The Royal Academy. The story's setting. It SHOULD have finished by graduation. SHOULD. HAVE. But DID it? No! This nonsense had spilled into the COURT! The general population! Actual political factions were starting to get involved!
All because my "friend" COULDN'T PICK A MAN.
And she didn't listen. I tried. God, how I TRIED! No matter HOW I phrased "just fucking TALK to them" it didn't get through her dense fucking skull. I tried taking a break. To calm down. She HUNTED ME DOWN with her little Harem of political trainwrecks!
That poor port city STILL has yet to recover from the chaos they unleashed.
I don't... God, I don't even LIKE her anymore. I've just been reduced to her HANDLER. Forced into girlish tea parties devoid of any taste, because no one ELSE will come. Followed by winces and pitying looks by every lady in all of polite society. The sacrifice to keep HER distracted, lest her gaurd dogs decide its a good idea to do something unhinged again.
It's exhausting.
I'm not even listening.
She seems to have worked through her usual cycle of "cry, mope, what about meeeee~, then I going to go be Plucky at them! Tee Hee~♡!". Good, good. You go have fun, you little train wreck. I'm going to go find an actual ADULT to hide behind.
I have my maids change me out of an outfit that, frankly? I am too old for. I am not sixteen. We are not GIRLS, for the heaven's sake. We are WOMEN. It was a cute outfit. I enjoyed wearing it, back when I was physically young enough that it was appropriate. But even THEN... that's the down side of the whole "isekai" thing.
You keep your mental age.
Everyone around you? INFANTS. Fresh faced babies. You are being flirted with by fourteen year olds and? It is DISGUSTING. They can never be anything more then "cute kids" to you. The characters you once thirsted over? Reduced to actual, living, breathing, pre-schoolers.
There's no going back after that. I'll NEVER unsee it. Can only continue to age, even as they simply... grow up. And then? When they started behaving like FOUR YEAR OLDS? Forget it! I'm beginning to share my parents fears I may die single.
At least I have a refuge. A place of SANITY and SENSE.
I grab the imported wine I had purchased. I'd noticed him drink it before on special occasions. Found a tea seller that was willing to also bring some back. Mother LOVED the tea and my friend was going to love the wine, I could just tell.
Cautiously poking my head out of the guest apartments i was staying in, I checked the hall. Left. Right. Left. Thank god. No Protagonist in sight, she hasn't come back yet. Better hurry though.
I walk fast and keep close to the wall. Ducking into alcoves at every new female voice. Passing servants, Nobles, and the occasional Knight either murmur what they know of Protagonist's last known location or politely pretend not to see me. For anyone else, this would be scandalous behavior. For ME? Well... everyone knew EXACTLY why I was being driven to such extremes.
I thankfully reached the governance wing unmolested. It was far quite and none of the pack of fools ever really set foot here. Not ever the ones who were SUPPOSED to be busy learning their future roles as leaders of this country. God, I could only hope the third prince somehow quietly pulls a coup.
Not that I'd SAY that.
The gaurds don't even bother to announce me, I'm here so often. Merely opening the door. I maintain my decorum none the less. JUST long enough for the doors to finally close and I am able to drop my social mask like whipping of my bra after a long day. Oh thank fuuuuuuck. FREEDOM!
A familiar chuckle, like incense smoke, wafts from the second floor of the office.
"Oh my~, so tired?" My friend muses, his voice that ever lilting purr. I hear him closing whatever heavy tome he's currently studying. "And so early in the DAY! Was it the little nuisance again? Surely she must have SOMETHING better to do?"
Gently putting the wine I'm gifting him on his desk, I then throw up my arms. You would THINK! Wouldn't you?! It's an old complaint. And frankly? I'm glad he still let's me vent about it. It HAS to get old. Yet? He let's me complain anyway.
I met the, roughly translated, "Keeper Of The Shield" at one of the Crown Prince's many ridiculous parties. I was dragged along as Protagonist's plus one. Because GOD FORBID she bring one of her suitors! That might lean towards CHOICE! Can't have THAT!
It was an overly dramatic, gaudy, slow motion trainwreck from beginning to end. I? Got very, VERY drunk. I knew I shouldn't. It was wildly inappropriate. But I was HORRIFIED. Hid near the balconies and drank to forget. Contemplating jumping.
Was likely the only one there my age NOT in ten layers of bows and fabric flowers. It was probably why Crevan decide to talk to me. That and the look of abject suffering. He informed that, sadly, the balconies were locked. But if I planned to maim my self to escape, he could probably boost me up enough to reach the upper windows.
I choked on my drink and guffawd like an idiot. It was SUPER flattering. Very pretty. And honestly? The best conversation I'd had in YEARS. He was droll. Witty. Snarky. In just as much hell as I was. We gleefully narrated the drama playing out before us in as cutting a manner as possible. Grown adults, government officals! Behaving like fucking CHILDREN.
Only after, did I learn I had been chatting with the equivalent of the minister of the Defense. THE commander of our nation's defensive forces. All of them. Knights, army, spies. All of it. And the poor man had been dragged from his desk to play party prop by a glorified teenager. I was horrified. Appalled. Fucking OUTRAGED to learn that it was just... normal!
This country was a nightmare! Otome games are HELL. Lacey, sparkly HELL!!!
But at least I had Crevan to keep me sane. He was always willing to listen. Advise when he could. We had HOPED that Protagonist would start maturing... I'd even mentioned it, but it just seemed like she back slid again and again! Trapping me. Isolating me! Ruining my chances to move ON and have a LIFE!
I don't know what went wrong! Is it me? Am I too hand holdy? It's starting to destabilize the country! Not that the royal family even seems to notice! God no, if it weren't for Crevan, the whole PLACE would have collapsed!
I flop down on my couch. Technically it's not "mine", but honestly? He's fooling no one. The man barely had ANY guest furniture before we became friends. It's totally my couch. (He even got a tea table for us, the softy.)
"Oh? A gift? How thoughtful, dear~" It's only months of friendship that keep from jumping these days. I should get that man a BELL. "Would you like some?"
I can't help but huff a laugh. He always looks to PLEASED when he gets the jump on someone. Startles them. A mischievous asshole, that one. Touchy, too. Forever cupping my cheek or earnestly taking my hand. Patting my head. Guiding me by the elbow or shoulder. He has so few friends... I am certain he is touch starved.
A thought occurs to him, as he pours two cups. A sly grin stretching across his face as he turns to offer me a cup. The wine's scent mixes, burning and delicate, with the ever present smells of incense and his favorite herbal cigarettes. Blurring the senses and relaxing. It's a pretty strong drink.
"You KNOW... it just occurs to me! Darling, if you want to avoid that pest? Why not spend the day HERE? I'd love to have you. " his voice becomes low and serious for a moment, almost catching me off gaurd, bouncing back before I can really think about it. "You could trash my shelves again! Camp out on my couches! It'll be like a little party~ Just you and me! Not a care in the world. You won't have to worry a single thing~"
He grins, glasses catching the light, toothy like the old scheming fox he is.
"I'll keep you nice and safe~"

Since returning to Linkon City after your extended “vacation” in Skyhaven, you have felt an uneasiness settling in your gut. You should be over the moon that your long-dead brother wasn’t dead after all but everything about Caleb seemed… off.
There were still traces of the boy you remember. He still doted on your every need. Was still over protective in the most annoying ways and still used humor and guilt to soften your irritation. He had never been straight forward with you, always willing to do whatever he needed to protect you even if it meant keeping you in the dark. So the fact that he deflected most of your suspicious questions concerning the practices of the Farspace Fleet was not a surprise, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that he had lied right to your face about many of the things he did answer, which was new.
He had always seemed a little haunted to you; like there were things he wasn’t saying or couldn’t say and that hadn’t changed, but the depth of it now seems insurmountable. What was it they said about gazing into the abyss? Well now, often times when Caleb looked at you, you felt the abyss gazing back. Like your caring brother was gone and the cold officer he had become was steering the wheel. You couldn’t decipher where Caleb began and the Colonel ended.
While in Skyhaven, you hadn’t received any of messages and had connectivity issues with the wifi. Initially, you had reasonably blamed the shoddy signal on the fact that you were in a city in the sky and that the near-constant storms were to blame, but after uncovering some suspicious information about Caleb’s new life, you were no longer convinced it was a mere accident. Which left you to believe either the Fleet had more of an influence on Skyhaven than anyone suspected, despite what their public policies claimed, or Caleb himself had intentionally isolated you. Both were concerning and likely had some truth to them, but the former was more painful to think about.
Your phone had been buzzing nearly non-stop since coming back to the city, updating with message after message. Messages from Xavier about hot pot and confusion about your sudden approved vacation days that you never mentioned taking; Rafayel feigning danger, saying he needed his bodyguard to come and check on him asap; Zayne concerned that he hadn’t heard a word from you after Mia’s unfortunate death and insisting you check in with him as soon as you are able.
They had been relatively easy to appease for now. You informed them all you had just returned home and would make sure to see them in the coming days— you just needed one day to sort through your thoughts and feelings about the Caleb situation. Besides, what were you supposed to say? I didn’t actually go on vacation because I went on a solo undercover mission for the Association connected to the explosion of my grandmother’s house just to find my long-dead brother/sort of ex-boyfriend is actually alive and well, and is now one of the top ranking leaders of the Farspace Fleet who may be involved in some unethical practices because I had one conversation with a little boy whom they had been searching for and he seemed to have a complete personality change in the two days after his sister’s death?
It wasn’t exactly something that could be explained in a text message.
Needless to say, your men were worried about you, but Sylus most of all. Though his messages where a lot more direct in their efforts to get to the bottom of your disappearance. They started off playful enough in their probing, but the longer you were gone, the more insistent they became.
Mr. Crow: Mephisto reported that you packed a bag. A big one. Where are we going?
Mr. Crow: Now he says you boarded a shuttle. Why would you do that when you have a helicopter in the N109 at your disposal?
Mr. Crow: Your return date is a week from now. Did you go on vacation without me, kitten? You never mentioned a work trip.
Mr. Crow: I know you’re a busy big time hunter but it’s unlike you to ignore my messages like this, sweetie.
Mr. Crow: Mephisto lost you. The twins can’t find you either.
Mr. Crow: Where are you?
Mr. Crow: You disappeared on me and I’m worried. This isn’t like you.
Mr. Crow: I’m very unhappy with you right now.
Mr. Crow: You can’t hide forever, kitten…
You knew without a shadow of a doubt that Sylus saw the moment you returned to the city because your mechanical bird companion was tailing you again. You hadn’t intentionally slipped his detail or left Sylus hanging during your leave. It was no secret that the Onichynus leader kept watch of you and it had actually become a welcome security over the months since you began seeing one another.
It should have struck you as odd that Sylus didn’t hunt you down during your two week stay in Skyhaven but the truth was you had been hit with near constant surprises in the floating city that you had no time to think about anything but what was happening in that moment. But now that you were away and had space to think, you were left to wonder why Sylus never came for you. Why you were able to be imprisoned on a military fleet ship against your will and your mighty crime boss didn’t track you down and bust you out.
Your phone buzzes again, shaking you from your thoughts.
Mr. Crow: Look who’s back in town.
Kitten: Will you meet me somewhere?
Mr. Crow: Turn around.
You lower your phone, eyebrows drawn together as you turn against the flow of pedestrian traffic. Your eyes flit through the decorated streets, colorful ribbons and lanterns decorating the way in preparation for the New Year. The crowd parts, making way for a hulking man in a leather jacket walking steadily toward you with danger flashing in his crimson eyes, his mouth set into a hard line. It never ceased to amaze you how Sylus was able to blend in with a crowd when he stood out to you so much. He towered over everyone and had a dangerous aura to him, yet no one batted an eye in his direction.
You gulp nervously, knowing he wouldn’t let you get away without an explanation. One you still weren’t even sure how to say. Anxiousness has your feet moving quickly as you duck into an alleyway to wait for him. You couldn’t do this with an audience. Though it’s still light out, the strings of decorations above has the alley appearing more dark than usual, allowing you to slink into the shadows and away from prying eyes. It doesn’t take Sylus long to catch up, his own shadow eating up whatever light remains as he draws closer until he’s towering above and caging you against the stone wall.
“Sylus—”
“Would you look at that? I caught myself a stray.”
His fingers curl under your chin, not-too-gently angling your face toward his. That simmering anger in his eyes softens at the sight of you, disappearing completely to be replaced with concern. He reads you entirely too well, even if he doesn’t know the cause.
“What’s wrong, sweetie?”
You let out a vulnerable sigh, lip wedging between your teeth to combat the sting in your eyes as the relief of this secret you’ve been holding onto is lifted off of your shoulders the slightest bit. You didn’t realize just how much you had been carrying since Caleb’s return, but if a single soft look and concerned question from one of your boyfriends was enough to make you feel like crumbling, it must be a lot.
You still hardly believed it yourself that Caleb was alive and well after all this time. Had seen him with your own eyes and yet you still felt the loss of grief from his death and the sting of betrayal at his return. A confusing whorl of emotion builds up inside your chest because along with the relief that he was alive, you felt an overwhelming sense of resentment toward him.
For so long, Caleb was the only one you saw, blinded by the tunnel vision of his affection. Then he went and died before you could navigate the complex secret relationship the two of you shared only to return from the death of a literal explosion to metaphorically blow up your life just when you had started learning how to live without him. Just when you had begun to find comfort and care with Sylus and the other men in your life. They had become your new foundation in the rubble of Caleb’s place and now he was returning from the dead to level it once again. The rebuilding process had been overbearing and painful and lonely and you didn’t know how much more you had in you to start over again.
As much as you loved Caleb, he never played well with others when it came to you. Sylus thought Zayne’s jealousy and reluctance to share your time had been a hurdle but your childhood friend was nothing compared to your brother’s jealous streak. In the handful of times you were shared between Caleb and Zayne in your youth, it was always at Caleb’s command. Nothing happened without his approval. What he said went and neither you nor Zayne ever dared cross that line to try to further explore your attraction to one another. Not until after the explosion, anyway.
A gentle thumb on your jaw brings your attention back to the present, sympathetic ruby eyes grounding you.
“Does it have to do with how much time you spent in Skyhaven recently?”
Surprise and panic flicker across your face at Sylus’s question.
So he did know where you had gone, after all.
“Please, sweetie. After all this time and you’re still surprised that I keep tabs on you?  Mephisto may well be glued to your side. And that’s not even taking the twins into consideration or counting the various tracking devices planted on you and in you.”
“Sylus!”
“What?” he feigns innocence.
“Mephisto following me is one thing but you can’t bug me! I’m an agent of the law. Not to mention, where the hell did you get plant devices that can evade government detection? And more importantly, how did you get one inside of me without me knowing?”
Sylus’s proud grin widens as a thick leather-covered arm wraps around you like a vine. He pulls you into a slow dance in the alley, no musical accompaniment or reason for it other than he wanted to and he missed you.
It soothed some of the warring emotions within you, making your irritation with his stalking tendencies dissipate. Truth be told, you were grateful that he cared so much about your safety. You know Sylus now and know that his only intentions are your safety and success. Though you wouldn’t ask it of him, he would burn the whole world down if you requested him to, for the mere purpose of pleasing you. You couldn’t same the same about Caleb, who only ever kept you in the dark about his intentions.
“You should know by now that nothing is out of my budget or reach, kitten,” he purrs.
His playful demeanor slips a fraction. To anyone else it would have been undetectable but having spent so much intimate time with the Onychinus leader, you have learned to read him nearly as well as he reads you.
“What is it?” you ask, cupping his jaw.
Sylus nuzzles into your palm, a heavy sigh puffing through his nostrils, reminding you of a mighty beast that had been tamed.
“Nothing is out of my reach,” he repeats, “except whenever you disappeared into Skyhaven. Mephisto managed to follow your shuttle all the way to the city gates but the moment he tried to cross the threshold he began to short out. He had no choice but to turn back. Once you crossed over, I also lost signal of every tracking device on your person, including this one,” his finger lightly trace a spot between your shoulder blades. So that’s where it is. “I lost the ability to track you. To keep you safe. That’s never happened before and naturally was a cause for concern.” He hesitates for a moment as if afraid to ask but does anyway. “Where did you go during your ‘vacation’?”
“I don’t know where to start,” you admit as the tightness in your chest starts to constrict to a painful degree. The cardiac event monitor on your watch begins to beep erratically, indicating a dangerous rise in your pulse oxygen levels.
“Shhh, it’s okay,” Sylus pulls you close to his chest, resting your head and hand against the steady rhythm of his own heartbeat.
He talks you through the attack, his calming voice like a balm to your ringing ears. After several long moments, you feel like you can breathe again and your watch finally goes quiet.
“Yes, I’m with her right now and she seems to be coming out of it,” Sylus’s voice drifts clearly to your ears once more. His voice tightens irritably at whatever the person on the other end says. “I wouldn’t put her in that kind of danger. I called you as soon as her symptoms began, didn’t I?”
He pauses again to listen to whatever was being said, giving you a reassuring smile though he still looks annoyed.
“I can drop her off at your office tomorrow morning. Or if you’re truly concerned and thinks she needs immediate medical attention, you’re welcome to meet me in the N109 Zone in an hour.”
Pause.
“That’s what I thought. I’ll continue to monitor her and if anything changes, you’ll be the first to know. Have a nice day, doctor.”
Sylus hangs up the phone and tucks the device back into his pocket. Hearing his side of the conversation, you have an idea of who he had been talking to.
“Dr. Zayne wants you to report to his office first thing in the morning. He said he won’t clear you to return to work until you do.”
This news comes as no surprise. Since an event was triggered, you would have to answer to Zayne about the cause, yet another conversation you weren’t ready to have. But he deserves to know Caleb is back. You just didn’t know how to tell him most of all. At least Sylus, Xavier, and Raf were a degree removed from the situation. Zayne would be almost as affected by the news as you, considering that Caleb was his best friend and the odd nature of the relationship the three of you previously shared.
“You could start from the beginning, sweetie,” Sylus murmurs against your hair, lips brushing your head in a loving kiss as he reminds you of what caused your heart rate to spike in the first place.
“I can’t,” your voice croaks. “Not now. Not here. It’s… too much.”
“Okay,” he relents. “But I’m taking you home with me regardless. After spending two weeks worrying about your safety and unable to reach you, I need you with me tonight. Then after a good meal and a lavender bath soak, if you feel like telling me what’s going on, I’ll be all ears.”
The sting returns to your eyes and you grip the back of his leather coat like an anchor. You were so grateful for your dragon and the way he kept you safe, even from yourself. That when you were spiraling down a vortex he would always catch you.
“I love you, Sylus,” you whisper, throat tight with emotion.
“I love you too, kitten.”

Pls toxic guy fic …….. you need to do a pt 2 i love it :)))
hehehe of course <3
(wc: 1.5k — warnings: smut MDNI, jealousy, dubcon elements, thigh riding)
your friends don’t give up in their efforts to convince you that beomgyu’s bad for you, but you have a hard time believing them. beomgyu’s doubled down in showing his care for you—he’s incapable of prying his hands off of you, he showers you in constant praise, and he never fails to reassure you that everything’s okay. the line between platonic and romantic affection has been blurred for quite some time between you and beomgyu, but it’s something you’ve grown used to now.
beomgyu spends every moment he can with you, and makes sure to text you consistently in moments where you’re away. your friends think it’s borderline obsessive, and it never fails to become a topic of conversation in every hang out.
you know better than that, though. this is just what normal is for you and beomgyu. he’s told you enough times for it to be drilled into your head that your friendship can only be defined by the two of you, and you don’t want to make him upset anymore by questioning his behavior.
you do a good job at keeping your life with beomgyu separate from life with the rest of your friends. you learn to stop talking to beomgyu about them, and to feed into your friends’ theories about him as little as possible.
it’s not always easy, however. situations like this, for example, where you’re at the same party with beomgyu and your friends.
“i figured you’d be here,” beomgyu says, finding you as you’re grabbing another drink. he usually doesn’t go to parties unless you go with him, and you came here with your other friends this time. you didn’t even tell him you were going.
“yeah? how’d you know?” you ask. you walk back to the crowd, and beomgyu follows.
“your friend posted something about it.”
you laugh. “keeping tabs on my friends?”
he blinks at you. “no,” he says. seems like he didn’t catch your joke. you ruffle his hair, finding it cute.
you turn when you hear a friend call your name. she’s signaling you over, and you give one last look to your best friend in front of you. “i’m gonna go back to the girls now, but text me if you need me!”
you don’t look for him after that, too caught up in the atmosphere of the party. one of your friends introduces you to a handsome, charming guy. his name’s yeonjun, you find out after a short conversation, and it doesn’t take long for him to ask you to dance.
you’re pressed right up against him, following the sway of his hips, letting him lead the two of you. you’re all giggles as you talk to yeonjun, feeling entranced by the man.
it’s not even a couple minutes later that you’re pulled away from yeonjun, eyes widening at the feeling of being tugged and dragged away from the crowd. you knew who the culprit was immediately; the feeling of beomgyu’s hand on your skin is as familiar to you as the feeling of air filling your lungs.
the next thing you know, beomgyu’s shutting the bathroom door behind you, locking the two of you inside. you get no chance to ask questions before his lips are on yours, kissing you with more heat than you’ve ever seen from him before.
even in your tipsy state, you know this is much further than you’ve gone with him before. he doesn’t pull away, though, sucking your lips like he has something to prove. you jerk your head to the side so his mouth detaches from yours.
“what’s going on?” you ask, searching for an answer on his face. all you find is how pissed off he is.
“you tell me. who the fuck was that?” he levels you with a hard stare, leaving no room for excuses.
“some guy my friend knows,” you answer, shrugging like it’s not a big deal.
his laugh holds no real humor. “your friends always try to slut you out like this?”
“excuse me?” you let beomgyu get away with many things, but even you know when enough is enough.
he doesn’t respond, only leans in to start peppering kisses down your neck. you’re left feeling confused, not understanding his overreaction just a second ago.
your eyes go wide once you feel his tongue on your skin, licking over the spot he just kissed. you give his chest a small shove, but he doesn’t budge. he’s sucking on your skin now, surely trying to decorate it with a mark.
this is definitely too much. alarms ring in your head as all your friends’ warnings fly back to you in droves. you breathe out something that sounds like a whine when he bites down where your neck meets your shoulder. his tongue laves at the area, and his trail of kisses continues down to your collarbone.
“gyu,” you start, threading your fingers through his hair, trying to pull him away. “we shouldn’t be doing this.”
he doesn’t answer, just slips the thin sleeve of your dress down, freeing some skin. his mouth latches onto you dangerously close to your breasts, sucking marks onto you. his hand creeps up your thigh, fingertips pressing into the soft flesh. your other sleeve meets the same fate, prompting much of your chest to be exposed.
“gyu,” you try again, but your call is only met with the feeling of his hand inching further up your thigh.
you finally tug hard enough at his hair to pry him off of you. he’s equal parts anger and lust as he stares at you. he grabs onto your waist and pulls your body into his, wedging one of his legs between yours. a jean-clad thigh meets your center, but you bite back any noise that threatens to slip out.
“what is it with you and trying to replace me?” he asks, eyes flitting down your frame. they linger on the expanse of your chest. he’d just have to pull your dress down slightly for your tits to pop out.
“replace you?” you repeat, trying not to lose yourself to the feeling of him pressing against your core.
“other friends, other men, everyone else but me…” you scrunch your face at his words, not understanding him.
“i hang out with you all the time,” you counter.
one of his hands leaves your waist, making its way up to your breast. you don’t allow yourself to gasp at the feeling when he slowly rubs a thumb across your clothed nipple.
“w-what are you doing?” you ask, hanging desperately onto your sanity.
he brings his eyes back to yours. “i’m taking what’s mine.”
your eyes roll back when he makes you grind against his thigh. his other hand continues to play with your tits, and the stimulation is already overwhelming. this isn’t ever anything you’d expect to be doing with beomgyu.
“we can’t”—your sentence is cut off by a gasp when he presses his thigh against you with more force—“can’t do this.”
“why?” he asks. “you would have ran off to do this with yeonjun anyway. i’m just giving you what you wanted.”
you throw your head back, still trying to fight the feeling, but it’s hard when he’s rubbing you against him so deliciously. your friends were right: beomgyu is taking things too far, but you can’t bring yourself to stop him now.
“how do you feel?” he asks, pulling his hand from your breast to make you look directly at him. he’s got a tight hold on your jaw, so you can’t save yourself and look another way. his stare is so intense, it leaves you feeling naked.
“good,” you answer. he grins at that, and his hand on your hip coaxes you to roll your hips a little more. it doubles the buzz you were already feeling, and you whine at the sensation. your legs start twitching, pleasure taking over.
a knock at the door brings a sense of fear upon you. you look at beomgyu in horror, realizing he’s not going to stop. he leans in, bringing his lips to your ear.
“you gotta cum now, okay?” you shake your head, not wanting to risk the person on the other side of the door hearing anything. “yes, you do.”
he uses both his hands on your hips to drag your cunt across his thigh, determined to get you off before you get kicked out of the bathroom. you cover your mouth with your hand, trying your hardest to keep any sounds from escaping you. it’s so hard when your whole body is succumbing to the feeling, orgasm creeping up on you. another knock sounds at the door, harder this time.
“come on, show me what i do to you,” beomgyu urges, eyes locked on your face. he smiles at your wide eyes, so conflicted between wrong and right. you have no choice—your climax hits you before you can stop it. you close your eyes and focus on being as silent as you can while your hips stutter against him.
“good job,” he praises as you come down, hands moving from your thighs to fix the straps of your dress. you bring your hand off your mouth when he pulls his thigh from you. you feel like you can finally breathe again.
“we need to talk about this later,” you say.
he smiles. “why don’t we just go back to my place and talk about it there?”

“Roronoa.”
“Cap.” Zoro matches his long strides with Mihawk’s. The hospital beeps sound faintly from the rooms they pass, and nurses hasten their steps to answer some wailing woman two rooms down.
Mihawk stops abruptly in front of a room, and his amber gaze pierces Zoro's eye. “I know you just got back and barely had any time to rest, but I thought you might want to be present when we interrogate him.”
Zoro nods. It's another one. Another man has shown up with missing limbs and a note. A crime of passion seems far-fetched now. This case and Lucci’s are definitely related. They're too similar to be a coincidence.
Besides, Zoro doesn't really believe in coincidences.
“Has someone talked to him already?” Zoro asks as Mihawk’s hand sets on the handle.
“The doctors haven't let anyone near him yet. And they say he's heavily sedated, so we might not get much out of him for now.” Mihawk is directly involved now, and that alone tells Zoro they are about to treat this case with the level of respect it demands.
“After you, Cap.”
The door swings back as Mihawk pushes it, and both men stand near the hospital bed. Zoro recognizes the man immediately. He's the store clerk of the grocery shop he usually goes to.
“Hello. I'm Captain Dracule Mihawk, and this is Officer Roronoa. The nurses told you we were coming, right?”
The man nods, his eyes glazed over and out of focus. Then he raises his arm as if he’s going to run his fingers through his hair, but groans when his stump hits his forehead instead.
“I have nothing to say.” He sounds slightly frightened as his voice wavers, with shaky breaths escaping his lips.
Mihawk ignores him, a scowl forming on his lips. “What do you remember about the person who did this to you?”
“I have nothing to say.”
“Any detail is important. Height, build, voice, distinctive features–”
“I have nothing to say!”
Mihawk inhales deeply. Zoro knows his Captain is a very patient man. If he were the one doing the interrogating, he would be shaking the man by his collar right now. Couldn't the man see they were trying to help him?
“So you were threatened.” It's not a question. It's a mere statement. The man's eyes fill with tears as his chin trembles slightly.
“What am I supposed to do now? My hands were my job. I can't do my job without my hands!” He sobs, his shoulders sagging. “Not just my job… How am I supposed to live like this? He ruined everything.”
Mihawk places one hand on his shoulder, his hawk-like gaze losing a bit of its edge for a moment. “It's not all lost. You're alive, and that's more than many people can say. We're trying to help you. We want to catch the bastard who did this before they can hurt somebody else. But we need your help to do it.”
The man closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Then he starts talking. He says that it was a man who did this - massive, bulky and really tall. He had a mask covering his face, a hoodie and gloves on, so any detailed description is off the table. He also had a rough voice and immediately threatened him if he shared the details of what happened with the cops.
“After he… when he… he said to never touch what's his again. I didn't understand what he meant. I was in shock, I guess.” He sighs, his head falling back. “Can you call the nurse? I can't take this pain anymore.”
Mihawk nods, and Zoro turns, ready to leave, but the man isn't done yet. “He had maniacal red eyes and seemed amused by my suffering.”
The clap of the notebook his Captain had been scribbling on signals they’re done, so Zoro takes another step towards the door while Mihawk thanks the man for his help. But when they’re halfway through the door, he speaks again.
“I should've listened to her. She said someone was coming for me.”
Her?
“Who are you talking about?” Zoro speaks for the first time, his stomach churning with unease.
The man shrugs and shakes his head, his chin trembling again as, most likely, the threats the criminal spewed fill his mind. “It's nothing. Nothing. Forget it.”
“Who is she?”
“I said fucking forget it. Leave me alone, I'm done!”
Zoro grits his teeth, his instincts driving him towards the hospital bed, ready to drill the man with more questions until they get what they came for. But Mihawk’s firm grasp on his shoulder stops him.
“We'll leave. Rest. Thank you.” They both leave the room, and Zoro growls as soon as the door clicks behind him.
“He knows more!”
“And you should know when to stop. Let him rest. We'll try again another day.” Mihawk starts walking, and Zoro follows, staying silent when his Captain asks the nurses to check on the man. “I have a feeling this case is just getting started, anyway.”
Mihawk’s foreboding words echo in Zoro's brain all the way back to his car. The creep who's doing this is leaving him uneasy. A feeling of dread tightens his stomach and constricts his heart.
All he can think about is keeping you safe, and he can't exactly pinpoint why.
Though it's quite a coincidence that Rob Lucci ogles you and gets his eyes removed, and the store clerk hits on you and gets his hands chopped. Quite a coincidence indeed.
And Zoro doesn't fucking believe in coincidences.
-*-
You take your car to Robin's, even though Nami offered to pick you up, knowing how unreliable your old car can be sometimes, because you want to avoid having Zoro bring you home. And, gosh, you want nothing more than to spend time with Zoro, but if you can help it, you'll do whatever’s in your power to keep him from touching you.
No matter how hard that might be.
You don't even know how you’re going to get into the right mood to party with your friends. They all have so much energy, and you… don't. At least not right now.
Briefly, you wonder how many times you’re going to use the ‘I'm just tired’ excuse today, but a buzz from your phone distracts your thoughts.
Unknown: Remember, Kitten, no one touches what's mine.  Unknown: Behave, be a good girl for me, and I won't be upset.  Unknown: I'm always watching.
You stuff your phone into your pocket before forcing a fake smile onto your lips and buzzing the doorbell of Robin's apartment. She opens the door with a smile that quickly turns into a frown upon setting her eyes on you.
Not even all the makeup in the world can disguise the massive bags beneath your eyes, the redness in them, or the frayed look. And even if it could, Robin is your most perceptive friend.
Still, she doesn't address the matter directly. She simply gives you a tighter hug than usual and whispers in your ear: “You need anything, honey? I won't ask questions, even if it's murder.”
The laugh that bubbles up in your throat is completely genuine, and you feel a little lighter. “Oh, trust me, Robin, I know you're the one to ask! But I'm okay, just tired, I guess.”
That's one.
“Are you sure? You know I know ways to get rid of a body without getting caught…”
“Nico, I'm right here. I have no qualms about taking your ass to jail, you know?”
He's teasing Robin, but his piercing eye is set on you and you have to bite your lower lip to stifle a sob. Zoro's mere presence exudes safety and all you want to do is rush into his arms and forget everything. Forget about feeling scared, trapped, helpless and useless.
He's right there.
“Hey, Troublemaker, making trouble?” Robin smirks, shoves Zoro playfully, and returns to her home, leaving you two alone in the doorway, where Zoro leans casually. You notice his piercing gaze assessing the dishevelled state of your hair, the lack of care with your chosen outfit, the way your hands fidget with the hem of your jacket, and surely the way your lip trembles.
“Hi. Not today, Zo.” You give him a soft smile along with your chill greeting, but the slight buzz in your pocket alerts you, and reminds you not to push it, so you quickly erase it from your face.
Zoro's eye widens, and he crosses his arms as his brows scrunch. “Is everything–”
“I'm just tired.”
Two.
“See you inside, I’ve got to go greet our friends.” You try to get past him, but he stretches his arm across the doorway and blocks your path. You inhale a quick breath and are inundated with the smell of steel and his musky scent. Safety. Protection.
… Home…
“Hey. Talk to me.” He mumbles, reaching and tilting your chin slightly so he can look into your eyes. “You look like you haven't slept in days.”
Bzzzz.
You shake your head both as an answer to his question and to deflect his touch. A quick step away brings your back against the doorway, his arm right next to your face and he leans in, seeing you're trapped.
“Yeah, I know. Too much farm work, I guess. I'm just–”
“Tired?” That's three.
You nod. Bzzzz. Then you flinch, and Zoro arches his eyebrow.
“Talk inside, okay?” And before he says anything else, or does anything else - because it's starting to prove impossible to stay away from him - you duck beneath his arm and scurry inside.
-*-
What the royal fuck?
Tired? That's not tired. That's exhausted. You look like you've been through hell and back and, apparently, you don't want to tell him why.
What's going on?
Zoro follows you inside and closes the door behind him. He watches as you force a smile on your usually cheery face and greet the rest of your friends. Then he watches as Luffy hugs you tighter than usual - probably noticing your frayed state - and watches you push him away, your hand flying to your pocket.
You stare at your phone, eyes darting back and forth - reading - then you close them shut with an almost imperceptible shudder, and put the phone back in your pocket.
What is going on?
He watches you when you think nobody's watching, and he sees the way your hands tremble as you reach for a sandwich you only nibble on, giving the rest to Luffy. He sees the way your eyes dart around the room and the way you avoid windows, preferring to sit in the middle of the living room and on the floor.
He's especially interested in whoever is texting you, because you can't seem to let go of your phone. Though the texts don't make you happy. They seem to upset you.
He also sees the way you avoid the Cook and all his flamboyant attention. He realises that your actions are so thought out, so careful, that you're not even your clumsy self. He sees you struggle, trying to smile and to engage.
To pretend.
But mostly, he watches as you actively avoid him all night.
Something is definitely going on. And he's going to find out what.
-*-
Unknown: The Vinsmoke is too flirty. Get away from him.  Unknown: You're doing so well, Kitten.  Unknown: Avoiding the cop all night. Look how well-behaved you are.
The hundredth involuntary shudder assaults you. You're trying. By all that is sacred, you really are trying to be good.
But you feel watched. Not that usual uneasiness that comes from the creep watching you, no. Sadly, you're already getting used to that dreadful feeling. What you're feeling right now is the piercing gaze of Zoro. He's watching your every move. And all you want to do is gravitate towards him.
He's right there.
With a heavy sigh, you collect the empty plate of the food you never touched - thank God for Luffy's unending appetite - and go to the kitchen to set it in the sink.
“Need help?” Fuck. You just saw Zoro snoozing on the couch. Does he have superpowers or something? Now you're both alone.
Your heart starts hammering away in your chest as you rinse the plate and set it aside. With a deep, steadying breath, you turn, holding a dish towel in your hands as you dry them. “Thanks, Zoro, I'm all done.”
The smile plastered on your lips feels as fake as the little plastic birds Robin has adorning her windowsill. But you try to sell it as you drop the dish towel and start to move to get away from him as fast as you can.
“So you're running from me again?”
Shit.
“What are you talking about, Zo? I'm just heading back, you can come too if you want.” But he doesn't move. And he's blocking the door.
“Stop lying to me, Trouble. You've been avoiding me all night.” Does he actually sound hurt? “What's going on?”
“I'm just–”
“Don't even think about giving me that crap about being tired. You're not tired. You look like hell.”
Bzzzz.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
“Gee, thanks for the pep talk.” You try to make light of the matter and get past him to go to the living room, but he grabs your shoulders, his fingers digging into your flesh.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
You flinch and shudder, your eyes closing with a gasp.
“Stop. Talk to me.” You sigh and close your eyes. You want to tell him everything. “Are you still getting those weird gifts? Is that what this is?”
Yes! And so much more! “No, Zoro. The gifts stopped, the person must have given up.” You sigh, the lies coming easier than you would’ve liked them to. “I'm tired. I hate being alone in that big house, and I miss my dad. That's all.” Some truth mixed with the lies might just help you sell them.
He nods, and his hands squeeze tighter. “I get that. But that doesn't explain why you're running from me.” Bzzzz. You flinch again and roll your shoulders, trying to evade Zoro's touch because you know that's what the texts are sure to be about. “See? Why are you avoiding my touch, Trouble?”
Shit!
“I'm not.” Wow. That lie wouldn't fool a child.
“Prove it.” What? You raise your brow, lips curling into a dumbfounded expression. “Let’s finish what we started. Let me kiss you.”
Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
No. God, no.
You want to. You want this nightmare to come to an end. You want Zoro to kiss you, and to hold you, but mostly, you want him to protect you. To help you crawl out of this miserable rut you got yourself into.
But you can't. Because you know the texts that await you are all threats to his safety, and you can't risk him. You just can't.
“I… Zo… I'm not feeling well, another time, maybe.”
You can't bear the hurt in his eyes so you look down, but he doesn't relent. “I thought… I thought we had something. I thought you wanted…” His hands cup your cheeks and he forces you to look at him.  “This.”
You do. God you want all of it.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
Zoro leans slowly. Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Your throat feels dry, your phone doesn't stop vibrating and there's not enough air in the world to fill your lungs.
“I did. Before.” You leave it at that and he's so surprised by your answer that you take advantage and slip past him, trying to hold back sobs as you quickly make up an excuse to your friends and leave.
You shouldn't have come. This was a mistake. You just managed to hurt Zoro.
Fuck.
-*-
You don't quite know how you made it home, but you did. Tears kept streaming down your face, and you blinked them away furiously, but reaching home and locking the door behind you doesn't bring the sense of safety it used to.
Everything is tainted. You don't feel safe anywhere.
The phone burns a hole in your pocket with its incessant buzzing. Someone called you on your way over, and you bet it was Zoro. You don't dare to look, as you already know there are dozens of texts from your interactions with Zoro tonight.
He almost kissed you, and he was so adamant in trying to find out what’s wrong with you. Your friends noticed something was up, but the tired excuse worked perfectly with them, whereas with Zoro…
He didn't buy it for an instant.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
“God, just stop!” You screech, your hand clawing at your pocket as you take the device out and turn it off without even glimpsing at any text. You place it with force against the kitchen table and slump in the chair, holding your head tight as sobs claw up your throat.
You're tired, you are. But it's not just physical. What he's doing to you is much worse. It's torture, and it’s bringing you closer and closer to despair.
A melodic sound comes from your phone, and you hold your breath, removing your hands from your face as you stare at the bright screen. It turned itself on.
What?
Bzzzz.
Unknown: Kitten, don't shut me out. You don't want to anger me any more than you already have.
You stand up abruptly and widen your eyes, a hand pressing against your mouth as a way to trap the whimper that threatens to escape. Then you turn off the phone again, setting it back down on the table as if the thing were on fire.
You can count the time passing by the accelerated thrums of your heart hammering against your chest.
The melodic sound chimes again, and you freeze as the screen lights up once more. Its obnoxious light fills up the room as the harbinger of doom itself.
Bzzzz.
Unknown: That’s strike two, and I’m not amused. Don’t shut me out. I’m not–
This time you turn it off and shove it inside the kitchen junk drawer, amidst corks and can openers, hoping against all hope that this nightmare comes to an end, because how can it continue if you push it out of your sight?
Your stare burns a hole in the drawer, but you don’t hear the melodic jingle of the phone turning on, nor any buzzing. Is it… over?
The sounds of the old house seem amplified as you train your ears on any noise.
Can it actually be this simple?
BANG!
Your scream comes as unannounced as the loud bang that rattled the front door. Grasping the edge of the table with all your might, since your legs gave out from under you, you stare in the direction of the front door.
Then you hear it, clear as day, loud as if it were right next to you: footsteps. Heavy footsteps thump on the porch in a slow, taunting march. It’s him. It has to be him. You feel all your limbs locking up, constricting your breaths.
BANG!
This time, you press both your hands against your mouth and stifle your cry. He’s right there. Your breath comes out of your nose in loud, rapid bursts, and your head feels light. It’s over. He’s come for you and there’s no escape.
The footsteps cease, and you take a deep breath as tears drip down your face. Did he give up?
You're not quite sure how you get the courage to do it, but you approach the front door with very light steps, avoiding the creaking boards of the floor and standing on your tiptoes to try and see through the peephole, even though you’re already dreading what you’ll find once you press your eye against it.
Darkness.
You can’t see anything. Should you turn the porch light on?
BANG!
This time, you can’t contain your loud cry as you fall to the floor. The door rattled right against your touch and your stomach tightens at the thought that there’s just a door separating you from whoever is out there.
You crawl backwards, deranged sobs leaving you as you curse and plead, not quite sure what to do.
And then, as your back hits the kitchen counter, you know what he wants.
Getting up on shaky legs, you can still hear the pacing outside the door. You’re terrified. Fear makes your limbs congeal, and you shake your hands to try and stop them from trembling. Your fingers fumble with the drawer, and you have to clasp your phone with both hands as you turn it on.
The melodic ring resounds all around the kitchen, and, as soon as the phone is connected, it buzzes.
Unknown: Good girl.
-*-
Another restless, sleepless night.
You can’t shake away the fear that he left behind, no matter how much he assured you over texts that he would never hurt you, he just needed to make you learn. You’re a fast learner, he said. You can be good, he added. You just need to be reminded of this now and again.
He kept calling you his, kept saying you’d learn to love him, to call for him, to need him.
You were so shaken up from the whole ordeal that you threw up whatever meager food you had managed to eat at Robin’s. Then, you locked yourself in your room again, trying to drown out any thoughts of heavy footsteps or threats.
There was no rest or sleep.
Just paralysing fear and helplessness. You can’t see a way out of this hell. Maybe there really is no escape.
-*-
Saturday comes and goes, and though your friends call, you ignore them.
Except Zoro doesn’t relent. He calls, and you don’t pick up, so he calls again, and again, and again until you do.
“I was about to march in there and see if you were alive.” He’s growling, but he still sounds a bit hurt, and you grimace, making yourself smaller against your couch. You’re sitting on the floor, somehow it seems more secluded, safer.
“I’m fine, I’m just sick. I think I caught a cold.” You cough a bit, trying to sell the lie, but at this point, you doubt Zoro actually believes anything you say.
“Right. So, you’re not coming with us to the movies today?”
“Not today.” You sound defeated, exhausted, shaken, and scared. You hope he just thinks you’re as sick as you claim to be.
“What if I go to you and we watch a movie at your house? I can get the Cook to make you some soup.”
A whimper almost leaves your lips, and you have to take a few extra seconds to compose yourself before answering.
“It’s okay, Zo. I’m fine. I just need some rest, okay? See you soon.”
And you hang up on him, like the coward you are.
Bzzzz.
Unknown: Kitten, that’s enough indulging the cop. You don’t get to answer any more of his calls. He needs to know you don’t want anything to do with him.
You read the text and drop the phone on the floor next to you, your head falling against your knees as you hug them tighter. You’re numb to all of this now. He controls you, he owns you, and there’s no escape.
You’re trapped in your own home, cornered in your own life.
You’re barely surviving. You’re just existing.
And it’s painful as hell.
-*-
The week goes by, and you fall into a numb routine. You get up, throw away whatever gift is waiting for you - sometimes they’re fresh flowers or candy, other times there are dead animals or crumpled flowers - you feed the farm animals, then try to eat something.
The afternoon is spent cowering in fear until you do the rest of the chores. Then, you try to eat something else for dinner after you lock up every inch of the house. You curl into bed in your locked bedroom, cry yourself to exhaustion, and start all over again the next day.
The stalker’s texts are relentless. He praises you and your beauty, your behaviour, and how good you are to him. Then, sometimes, he says you still need to learn, to accept that you’re his, and to understand you will love him back eventually.
And then, there’s Zoro.
He calls, he texts, and he comes knocking at your door. Every single day.
You pretend not to be home when he comes, even though he says he knows you’re home, but you don’t open the door or say anything. And then, he always gets a call from the station, something urgent that comes up, and he needs to go.
You know it’s him orchestrating Zoro’s life as well as yours. And the noose tightens around your neck.
-*-
Friday comes, and you’re not even strong enough to get out of bed. You’re drained. You ask Ace to help with the animals and stay curled up in bed for the majority of the day. Your phone is strangely silent.
No Zoro.
No stalker.
You fall asleep. A restless sleep born from weariness and depression. Then, you wake up drenched in sweat. It’s almost dark outside, and an ominous feeling grips you in its hold. You try to listen, to hear if there’s anything out of place, any foreign sound that doesn’t belong, but all is quiet.
You check your phone, and there’s nothing there.
Everything feels peculiar and unusual.
You get up on light feet and have to take an extra minute to steady yourself because your head feels light, and you feel faint from not eating all day. Then, you slowly make your way downstairs. It’s too quiet. Too eerie.
Something is definitely wrong.
It takes you an extra minute to notice, but when you do, all the breath is knocked out of your lungs.
There’s a huge, beautiful bouquet of fresh roses in the middle of the kitchen table.
He was inside your home.
He was inside while you were asleep and vulnerable. He could have been in your room, he could have touched you, he–
Heavy gasps disturb the eerie silence of your home as fat droplets of tears stream down your face. You can’t take this, you can’t. It’s too much, and you’re not strong enough. There’s no way you’ll be able to survive this alone.
You grab your phone and press Zoro’s name, placing the phone against your ear with trembling hands. It’s time to tell him everything.
Except the call doesn’t go through.
“Come on!” You whine, your legs giving out as you fall to the floor, the red from the roses still burning your retinas. You try again. And the call doesn’t go through.
It’s his doing.
The police. You dial the number and press the phone against your ear, but it disconnects before even ringing.
“No!” You scream and throw the phone to the floor, getting up hastily and bumping against a chair before your trembling fingers grasp the landline phone. Sobs and hiccups leave your lips, and you don’t even care, You’re so tired, you just want this nightmare to end.
The line’s dead.
A broken, desperate scream climbs up your throat, and you lose track of time as you curl up into a ball and cry some more.
There’s still someone who can help. Even though asking for his help is the last thing you want to do, maybe it’s exactly what you need to get out of this.
Ichiji.
Determination and a newfound purpose seem to stop your tears from flowing freely, and you grab your phone again, taking a seat on the couch this time, not wanting to stare at the roses anymore and not daring to touch them yet.
The call goes through, and you sigh in relief.
Two rings, and a familiar voice churns your insides. “Well, hello, Doll. This is… unexpected.”
“Ichiji, I need your help.” There’s no use beating around the bush. “I need you to spare me one of your bodyguards.”
The idea hit you like a truck. Ichiji has tons of bodyguards, he can be persuaded to share one, you’re sure of it. Even if you have to owe him something - and you know he’s going to collect - it’s much better than living in this constant fear.
The silence prolongs for a while before he sighs heavily into the phone. When he speaks again, his voice is clipped and monotone. “I would love to help, Doll.” Somehow, you doubt that very much. “But I’m a bit understaffed at the moment.”
“Cut the crap, Ichiji. You have dozens of bodyguards. Each one is better than the last.” It’s true. They’re all elite. Might as well just say he doesn’t want to help you, that you can understand.
“Had.” Another heavy sigh. “I had dozens of the best bodyguards. My best one left around the same time you left me. And half of them followed him out.” He chuckles dryly as the information sets into your tired brain. His best bodyguard?
You remember him vaguely, though the name eludes you, you talked to him on several occasions. Ichiji’s events were boring and dragged on, so you made small talk. He seemed to like what he did and was the best at it.
“Do you see the chaos you left with your departure, Doll?” This time, you’re the one that sighs.
“I just need one, Ichiji, please.” How low have you stooped, to be begging the asshole who broke your heart?
“I can’t. What I’ve got left are mediocre soldiers and a footlong list of threats. I barely feel safe leaving the house. But if you feel so unsafe, maybe you can crawl back to me, Doll, I’m sure I can make arrangements.”
“Goodbye.” You exclaim dryly into the phone before turning off the call.
A bodyguard was your last hope. The small flicker of light that had turned on. And now you are truly alone. No Zoro, no police. Just you and the stalker.
You turn your head back into the kitchen where the bouquet stands, taunting you with its beauty. He was inside once. He’ll be inside again.
How long before he hurts you?
You don’t even know when the tears started to flood again, but soon enough, your face is completely wet, and your shoulders shake with every ragged sob. You have never felt this helpless.
You’re trapped.
There’s no way out.
BANG, BANG, BANG!
And he’s come for you.

Prompt: With omegas completely removed from society, they needed their own communities and institutions to grow. All your life you had lived and gone to school alongside your fellow omegas, and orphaned alphas. You had managed to keep yourself together, but now at the university level, keeping your secret had grown impossible. You had to face your fears and make friends with an alpha eventually, and now was the time.
Tumblr media
“I don’t like this…”
You had been locked in your bedroom with Felix, anxiously pacing around the room. You couldn’t hear much of anything going on outside and you weren’t sure if that was good or bad. Felix was taking all this better than you, merely on his phone while lying in bed.
“Maybe we should check things out, make sure Ji-”
“No, no, no.” Felix got up and grabbed your hands. “Y/n, the last thing you want to do is go anywhere near Jisung or the alphas. Everything’s going to be just fine.”
“But-”
“The alphas are trained for this, Jisung is in good hands. By staying here we are helping.”
“Trained for this… how does an alpha train to handle an omega in heat… that’s just ridiculous…”
“I mean, we’ll see for ourselves some day.”
“… right…”
Despite Felix’s words of assurance, you couldn’t shake the nerves. You asked him multiple times if he could hear anything, which he said he couldn’t and would rather not try. You didn’t sleep all night, and Felix only dozed off a bit, trying to make sure you didn’t do anything rash. It wasn’t until early morning that you heard someone outside the door, Hyunjin and Jeongin checking in.
“I thought you would have fallen asleep?” Hyunjin questioned.
“I tried.” Felix mumbled. “But you know…”
“Is Jisung okay!?” You jumped to your feet. “Can I see him!? Where is he!?”
“Easy, easy.” Jeongin chuckled. “Jisung is fine, and he’s been moved to an observation room for the time being. You won’t be able to see him for a while.”
“Observation room? What’s that? Why can’t-”
“It’s temporary. Jisung’s in a delicate headspace and needs to be closely monitored, which means no guests. Once he’s better he’ll be back and then you can ask him questions. Okay. I promise he’s fine.”
“When will he be back?”
“It takes a few days, and the timing depends on every omega.”
“… okay…”
Even though you weren’t satisfied with the answers given to you, there wasn’t much else you could do. You had no idea where Jisung was, or what you could do for him. Of course you asked about him everyday, and the answer was always the same. Jisung was fine and doing well, he would return soon. You didn’t want to be an anxious mess, but you hadn’t been away from Jisung in so long. You couldn’t help but worry about him despite what everyone told you. Not to mention this was making it difficult to focus in any of your classes. Instead you started to realize other omegas were absent from class too, and you couldn’t help but wonder if they were in the same predicament as Jisung.
“How can you be so calm?”
“I… well I trust the alphas not to hurt Jisung.” Felix admitted. “And they’re calm, so I’m calm…”
“Ah, right… your senses aren’t numbed up like me…”
You could be a light sleeper at times, and now was one of those moments. Every little sound at night made you think Jisung was back, but that wasn’t the case. The alphas told you that they’d let you know when he returned, but you were still waiting. Even if you didn’t sleep well, you were getting some sleep. It wasn’t enough to ease the alphas though.
“Y/n, can I talk to you.”
While you were trying to do an assignment Changbin knocked on your door. He stayed out in the hall, but he still wanted to talk. He didn’t look upset, and even if you couldn’t pick up on his pheromones you felt like you were in trouble. That was probably written on your face.
“Yeah… what is it?”
“You’re not in trouble for starters.”
“Oh, then what?”
“I need you to calm down.”
“Huh?”
“I know you’re just worried about Jisung, but your anxiousness is rubbing off on Felix. Not to mention you’re not sleeping well either.”
“… sorry…”
“You don’t need to apologize, it’s not your fault.”
“I just want to know what’s going on…”
“When Jisung gets back he can answer all your questions.”
“I know but-”
“You’re gonna make him worry about you, and if you keep this up you’re gonna freak out Felix. You know it’s bad given you’re on suppressants and still affecting him.”
“… oh… right… right… I just…”
“I know the idea isn’t your favorite, but I could help you with my pheromones.”
“No. No, I don’t-”
“Hear me out. I know the last time I did such a thing it wasn’t consensual, but this would be different. You’re on suppressants so to get the desired effect it would take a lot longer than normal, so we can go slow and at your pace.”
“I… I don’t know…”
“You won’t get overwhelmed, but if you don’t want to I am going to need you to at least take sleeping pills. You need rest.”
“Fine… we can try… the pheromones first…”
“Okay.”
You weren’t entirely sure what Changbin had in mind, but he wasn’t going to do anything in your room and mess up your safe space, again. So instead you went to the living room. He turned on the TV and let an old show play, asking you to sit next to him. You had brought your assignment, wanting to work on it, but you only managed a bit before giving up. You sat back on the couch, keeping close to Changbin but not too much. He hadn’t said anything the whole time, creating a calming atmosphere and letting you ease into it. The others were out for the time being, so there wasn’t anything to interrupt.
You focused on the show, getting a bit engrossed in that and unknowingly leaning against Changbin. Even though he had noticed he didn’t draw any attention to it. His intention was for this to be slow and gradual. He carefully moved his arm to wrap it around you, pulling you closer. You were starting to feel a bit tired, leaning against Changbin as you dozed off. Changbin slowly pulled you into his embrace, adjusting his position and letting you rest against his chest. A hand softly pet your head, soothing you and getting you to sleep. This was long overdue for you, and very necessary.
Come morning you woke up in your own bed, actually feeling well rested. It was surprising, but you also didn’t feel as anxious anymore. Still, you weren’t gonna be completely better until Jisung returned. The wait wasn’t long after that night with Changbin, and you felt such relief when you saw Jisung again. He returned to the dorm early one morning, and you immediately rushed to hug him. You were so happy to have him back, and of course you couldn’t help but berate him with questions about what happened and how he was doing. For everyone’s sake, the alphas let you and Felix catch up with Jisung.
“I’m just fine, I promise.”
“But what happened to you!? The alphas said you were in an observation room.”
“Yeah, I was, they just had to keep an eye on me as my memories came back to me.”
“So you really blacked out?” Felix questioned. “After the whole ordeal?”
“I mean… yeah, it was… intense… and the alphas were very nice.”
“Yeah I bet. Did all six of them-”
“No! No, let’s not talk about that.” You interrupted. “What matters is that you’re back, and you’re not gonna disappear again, are you?”
“There’s no reason for me to. I’m sorry I made you worry.”
“It’s not your fault. Something like that is out of your control.”
Things seemed to go back to normal now that Jisung was back, and you were very much at ease. You figured everything would be fine, but what happened with Jisung was only the beginning. One night you were up late doing some reading when you decided to get snacks. The dorm was quiet enough, so you snuck over to the kitchen. There you discovered you weren’t the only one up late, seeing Felix rummaging around the fridge. You chuckled and cautiously approached him, tapping his shoulder.
“You gonna share?”
“Sh! Only with you.”
The two of you giggled and grabbed something to munch on, sitting on the kitchen counter top. You didn’t need to talk, just enjoying the quiet of the night and your snacks. You wanted to get back to your book, but Felix caught you by surprise when he followed you, hugging you from behind. He nuzzled into your neck, tickling you.
“Felix, cut it out.”
“Don’t go, not yet.”
“It’s already late, we shouldn’t be up anyway.”
“But we are.”
You tried to get Felix to let go, but he wouldn’t budge. You figured maybe he was just sleepy and a little delusional so you started moving with him in tow, planning to take him to his bedroom. At one point he stopped and held you in place, whimpering.
“Felix, come on now.”
You tried again to get Felix to release you but his grip only got tighter. You groaned, grabbing at his hands and really forcing him off. You got free, but only for a moment before he pounced on you, pinning you to the ground with his body.
“Don’t be so mean.”
You tried to get Felix off of you and then your hands brushed against his face. You felt this warmth, cupping his cheeks and pressing your palm against his head. He was burning up, but you began to realize this wasn’t just a fever. You immediately began squirming and trying to break free, but Felix wasn’t letting you go.
“Help! Help! Chan! Minho!”
You knew this wasn’t Felix’s fault, but you shouldn’t be anywhere near him in this state. All you could really do was scream for help.
“Changbin! Seungmin! Someone! Help! Hyunjin! Jeongin! Please!”
You didn’t know who it was, but all of a sudden Felix was yanked off of you, another pair of hands pulling you back and getting you to your feet. You heard some scuffling, but didn’t get to see much before you were taken away. Next thing you knew you were in your room, Chan looking you over.
“Are you alright? He didn’t hurt you, did he?”
“… no… no, is Felix okay?”
“He will be, we’ll look after him.”
“… sorry… I didn’t mean to scare you…”
“You did the right thing. Now you stay here, okay?”
“I know… wait, what about-”
Before you could finish your question Hyunjin came in with a sleepy Jisung in tow. You pulled him over, having him lay down in bed.
“You two will be okay, right?” Chan questioned.
“Yeah…”
“Okay. Stay here, like last time. Someone will check in later.”
“I know.”
Even though you had been through this before, you were still worried. You hadn’t seen what Jisung was like before the alphas took him away, but seeing Felix. He didn’t do anything to you but you could only imagine what would happen down the line.
“Y/n, take it easy.” Jisung mumbled, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “Felix is gonna be just fine, he’s in good hands.”
“…”
“I was in his situation before, and now I’m here. You know he’s gonna be alright.”
“Yeah… you came back no problem… but what if-”
“No, no, no, no, none of that.” Jisung went to hug you. “Don’t think like that. This is just a normal part of being an omega, it’s okay.”
For a moment you felt at ease, processing Jisung’s words and then something dawned on you. Jisung was right, this was a normal part of being an omega, and given that Jisung had gone through this not so long ago, it meant you were surely next. You didn’t like that idea at all, holding on to Jisung tighter than before.
“Y/n, what’s wrong?”
“I don’t like this…”
“Maybe it’s just Felix’s lingering pheromones, how about a shower? Then we can get some rest.”
“Sure…”
You washed up with Jisung, the shower actually helping. Even if you were worried about your own future right now, you couldn’t get any answers until later. You focused on the present, deciding to try and sleep while everything else went on. You only managed to doze off here and there, getting some rest. Jisung slept through the night, but he would wake if you disturbed him too much. He kept you wrapped up in his arms, not wanting to lose track of you even while he was sleeping. Come morning there was a knock at the door, and you looked over to see Chan and Seungmin peeking in.
“Couldn’t sleep again?” Seungmin teased.
“I tried…” You mumbled. “And Felix?”
“He’ll be away for a few days.” Chan said. “He’s just fine.”
“Good… uh… I wanted to ask… uh…”
You felt a bit embarrassed to ask, so Chan gestured to talk elsewhere to let Jisung sleep. You carefully slipped out of bed and headed out to the living room. The other alphas weren’t around, but you were still nervous.
“Did something happen?” Seungmin asked. “You can tell us, we won’t be mad.”
“It’s not that… I just… Jisung and Felix… am I… gonna… you know…”
“Ah, you’re cute, but no. You shouldn’t be going into heat anytime soon. You’re on suppressants.”
“So as long as I take them, I’ll be fine?”
“Not necessarily.” Chan continued. “The suppressants will certainly delay your first, but it can’t prevent it. Not forever.”
“… is there anything… I can do…?”
“Omegas have heat cycles, it’s a natural thing. It’s gonna happen eventually, but honestly, I don’t think it will be anytime soon.”
“How do you know?”
“Cause you don’t trust us. You don’t feel completely safe around us and the stress of that means your body won’t put you in such a vulnerable state. You’ll get there in your own time.”
“… okay…”
Jisung stayed close while Felix was gone, feeling a greater imbalance in the dorm for the time being. You mostly stuck to your room, wanting to distract yourself until Felix was back. Also to not think about what Chan had told you. While at your desk doing homework you noticed a random scribble on one of your notebooks, seeing a phone number and name, Gunil. You suddenly remembered that when you got back from the party you had written down Gunil’s number before going to wash up. You had completely forgotten about it until now. The thought of texting him crossed your mind, but you weren’t sure it was a good idea given how much time had passed. Still, curiosity won out, so you send him a message.
“Hi… it’s y/n… sorry I didn’t text sooner.”
There wasn’t a response, and you figured he was probably busy with something. As you were about to put your phone down you felt it buzz.
“Hey, nice to hear from you. How you been?”
“Good, and you?”
“Same old stuff. Just working on this paper.”
“Oh, I don’t mean to interrupt.”
“You’re not. I need a break anyway. What are you up to?”
“Just some reading.”
“I’m kinda jealous you just get to learn and not take exams.”
“It has its perks, but also feels pointless to a degree.”
“Touché. You know, I have some free time later today, wanna meet up?”
“Sure.”
You thought things over for a moment, and you figured it wouldn’t hurt to see Gunil in person. Besides, there were some things you wanted to ask, and only he had the answers. Now the problem was going out. You never did that, so obviously the alphas were gonna ask questions when they saw you heading for the door.
“And where are you going?” Jeongin asked, walking over. “Your classes are done for the day.”
“I know. I’m just going to meet up with a friend…”
“A friend? Who?”
“I knew him back in high school and we recently reconnected… he gave me his number at that party…”
“Is he an alpha?”
“… yes…”
“Since when-”
“Let her go.” Minho cut in. “She wouldn’t be going out to meet with some alpha if she didn’t trust them, and she’s not lying either. You can hear her steady heartbeat.”
“Fine. You won’t be out late, right?”
“No, no, I’ll be back before sundown.”
“Good. Call us if you need anything.”
“Okay…”
You agreed to meet up with Gunil outside the library, wanting to be out in the open. When you arrived you saw him sitting on a bench browsing his phone. As you got closer he looked up, seeing you and smiling, getting up to meet you halfway.
“Hey, it’s good to see you.”
“Hi…”
“I’m glad you agreed to meet me. Why don’t we get something to eat and talk, no interruptions this time, right?”
“Yeah.”
There were a lot of places on campus that you hadn’t been to before. You knew of them, but the idea of going and potentially getting mobbed by alphas frightened you too much. Things were different now with the suppressants, and you weren’t alone. Gunil bought some snacks and drinks, the two of you finding a table to sit at.
“You got my favorite…”
“I was hoping that was still the case. I remember when I used to leave them on your desk with a note. I don’t think I ever saw you eat them.”
“Uh… well… I didn’t…”
“Didn’t want me to see?”
“… didn’t know…”
“Huh?”
“I never found any snacks on my desk…”
“Oh…”
“I would have thanked you… and probably told you it wasn’t necessary…”
“I see… I guess I should have kept a better eye on that.”
“Yeah… I’m sorry…”
“It’s not your fault.”
“I suppose… you know… after everyone switched classes… I didn’t see much of you anymore…”
“Did you miss me?”
“… I’m not sure I can answer that…”
“It’s okay. I know what you mean.” Gunil got silent for a moment. “Even though we weren’t in the same class anymore, I still saw you.”
“You did…?”
“Yeah. Out in the halls, always scurrying off and keeping your head down… I could tell something was different about you. Everything and everyone seemed to frighten you, and you avoided alphas as if they were the plague. You seemed stressed, and I didn’t want to add to that, so I waited. Yet you were always sad, so I kept my distance, for your sake.”
You had always wondered what happened to Gunil. You wouldn’t have been able to face him after the incident, but his sudden absence didn’t go unnoticed. All this time you thought he only paid attention to you cause you were in the same class, and now that you weren’t, he didn’t have time for you. It was a long time ago, but knowing the truth now was comforting.
“… thank you… for your kindness… back then… I really do appreciate it…”
“Y/n… I am sorry for what happened to you.”
“… what? Did you…”
“Only recently.” Gunil explained. “I heard about those that got expelled, the names were familiar, and I remembered what they were like back then… so I just put the pieces together… it was my fault… and I understand if you can’t bring yourself to face me after this but… I would still like to keep in contact, if that’s possible.”
“It’s not your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong.” You took a moment. “I’ve been… healing… slowly getting better… I dorm with some alphas… and they’re all pretty nice… even if they have their secrets…”
“I’m glad to hear that. There was certainly joy and life in your eyes when I saw you at the party, something I hadn’t seen in a long time.”
With the heavier side out in the open, the uncertainty between you two seemed to lessen. You found it easier to talk with him, and just be friends. In a way he helped you look back on your high school days in a more positive light. You had been stuck in one place for so long, and were only now shedding the past and living in the present. You did keep your promise to the others though, excusing yourself before sundown, telling Gunil you’d message him later. He was glad to see you smile, offering you a quick hug before letting you go. When you got back to the dorm you heard a lot of commotion, and a familiar voice.
“Felix!”
You ran to hug Felix tightly, glad to have him back. You didn’t even have to ask as he began to tell you that he was alright.
“It was a nice long vacation, but I’m back now, and I’m perfectly fine.”
“Good.”
“I am sorry about before…”
“I know it wasn’t your fault. It’s just good to have you back.”
You could finally feel at ease with everyone back, knowing there were no more surprises in store. Or at least, no one was gonna spontaneously leave. Although now that you weren’t worried about those two, you could finally sit down with everything else that had happened. You kept texting with Gunil, glad to have a friend, and he helped you see things a bit differently. In reality, he let you see things as they really were. When you were around the dorm you found yourself staring at the alphas. You knew them more than any other alpha. You had seen the good and bad from them, but you knew that at their core they wanted to do good. Jisung and Felix never had any reason to be weary of them and liked them from the start. Perhaps if things had been different you’d feel the same.
You knew more than you should and it changed your view of many things. There were serious consequences for alphas who did not do well, and you didn’t want anyone to suffer in such a way. You wanted to do better, to get better, but you knew that was still a work in progress. As long as you were open to the idea, things should work out. Still, you weren’t quite ready to talk to the alphas, but you still wanted to do good. For the moment you’d just stick to what you did best, knowing you’d get there at your own pace. One day as you were doing some reading you were starting to get frustrated, getting hot. Perhaps you needed a break so you went to take a shower. The cool water felt so refreshing, yet after a moment you realized it wasn’t helping.
“Y/n.”
You jumped a bit when you heard Jisung calling your name, knocking on your door. You didn’t want to see anyone at the moment, so you called out from the shower, saying you were busy. You thought he left but then heard another knock on your bathroom door.
“Y/n, are you okay?”
“I’m fine…”
“Are you sure? You don’t sound-”
“Go away!”
You felt bad for yelling, but you hoped he’d take the message. It had the opposite effect as Jisung entered the bathroom. You screamed when he pulled back the shower curtain, covering yourself. Jisung apologized but still reached over to grab you, pulling you closer and pressing his palm against your head. You shook him off, telling him to leave again, but he didn’t move.
“Y/n… you’re kinda burning up…”
“I’m fine, now get out!”
“You know… you’re likely going into heat…”
“I’m not!”
“The alphas are gonna notice eventually, and you’re gonna get worse.”
“It’s not that, now go!”
Jisung decided to do as you asked this time, leaving you alone, but he put the idea in your head, and now you were starting to panic. You sat down in the tub, hugging your legs to your chest and just telling yourself it wasn’t true. It was probably just some fever or something and you’d be fine. You just needed to get some medicine, but you didn’t feel like moving. You hadn’t felt any better since Jisung called you out, and you were scared if he was right.
“Y/n…” You heard Chan’s voice knocking outside your room. “Are you alright? Jisung-”
“I’m fine! Don’t come in here!”
“I won’t, I promise, but are you-”
“Go away!”
Chan honored your wish, but he wasn’t happy. After talking to you Jisung ran to him, and he could catch your faint scent on him, and he knew what was going on immediately. He knew you wouldn’t just let him in, let him help, but he couldn’t just let you suffer. It wasn’t long before the others realized what was going on, wondering what to do.
“She can’t be alone.” Changbin said. “We need to do something.”
“I know, but this is still a delicate situation.” Chan stated. “We can’t just barge in, even if she’d forgive us in the end. This is an important time for her, we shouldn’t mess it up.”
“Then what are we going to do?” Hyunjin asked. “It’s only gonna get worse the longer she keeps to herself.”
“Which is why she won’t be.”
“She won’t…? Wait, are you suggesting Jisung and Felix help her?”
“Yes.”
“Are you nuts?” Seungmin snapped. “Her pheromones are gonna trigger them, then we’re gonna have three omegas in heat.”
“It will help her though.” Minho added. “And that’s the priority here. I think we can handle three omegas. Only one of them would be going through their first.”
“It honestly sounds kinda fun.” Jeongin chuckled. “But are we sure we can deal with this? Y/n’s going through her first, she needs the most care and attention. If we have to worry about Jisung and Felix too, things are gonna get complicated.”
“It will help though…” Jisung mumbled, making his and Felix’s presence known, the pair having been eavesdropping. “Right?”
“She needs to feel safe and be in a good state so she accepts our help.” Chan explained. “If you can help her with that, it would be very good for her.”
“We’ll do it.” Felix confirmed. “We can help.”
♥♥♥♥♥
You wanted the cold water to help you feel better, but it wasn’t. You were scared, having no idea what was supposed to happen. Reading books and being told about it was all just theory, and everyone had a different experience. While lost in your own head you heard knocking, looking up in a panic only to see Jisung and Felix. They knelt down by the tub, Jisung reaching for your hands.
“Hey… you can’t stay like this… the water won’t help.”
“Just leave…”
“We’re not gonna do that.” Felix said. “We’re gonna help you.”
The two helped you get out of the tub, shutting off the water and wrapping you in a towel. They dried you up a bit, but without the water you were starting to feel worse. The heat in your body was spreading, making you anxious. This didn’t feel like a normal fever, and it was hard to deny what this really was.
“You two… shouldn’t be here…”
“We know.” Jisung admitted. “But we can’t just leave you alone. The alphas don’t just want to help unless you’re okay with it.”
“I don’t want them to… help…”
“It hurts, doesn’t it?” Felix wondered. “It’s gonna get worse. They can help, trust me they really do, and-”
“No… no, I’ll be fine…”
“You’re gonna change your mind.”
“I… I won’t…”

Indiana Quinn! Harley Goes to the Temple of Doom | Bruce Wayne/Batman x OC!Magician
Synopsis: Inspired by the Harley Quinn show, here is a quick adventure where Harley kidnaps Vivian to help her get into a cave that’s believed to have some plant treasure based on a documentary she saw (which Vivian was a guest on).
Tumblr media
Vivian had many encounters with Harley Quinn and the Joker. Mostly as a hostage and being a victim of the man’s Joker Gas, and Batman would always come to save the day. Her relationship with the two clowns were not the best, especially when the latter was responsible for the death of Jason. She still hates him for it, and the fact he’s an evil-worshipping garbage. For Harley, it was complicated.
She remembered being a captive of Harley on one of her first runs as her own woman after breaking up with the Joker. Her whole gig then was to steal some jester jewel in the museum and it so happens, Vivian was the curator that day and she was the biggest hostage that Harley could get for a huge ransom.
Batman swooped in and saved the day, but Harley got away.
After that, Harley established herself to be some sort of antihero, who the Batfamily would run into or ask for help in certain cases.
This time… this time, Harley was… her game wasn’t exactly villainous but her way of doing it was concerning.
Vivian woke with a terrible headache. The last she remembers was heading to the cafe to get her afternoon coffee when suddenly the barista revealed to be Harley and WHACK! She was hit at the head with the woman’s mallet.
“Mornin’, Professor!” Harley greeted her. “Had a nice nap?”
“I had better ones.”
“Sorry if this ain’t some fancy-shamncy bed with silk beddin’s and feather pillows like the one you have at home.”
“We don’t use silk beddings because it’s slippery when — Harley, what is this? Why am I tied up to the bedframe with fluffy cuffs,” she did not want to think how those were used before this “and why is the room moving around — I think I’m going to be sick.”
“First off, we’re on a yacht,” Harley answered. “Second, the cuffs are so you don’t run away. Can’t let you do that.”
Vivian sighed. She could easily get out of this but with her secret on being a witch, she can’t just do that. The best she can do is send a message to Bruce about this as discreetly as she could.
“Listen, this ain’t some villainous trap that I’m doin’, okay? Would you believe me that it’s for love?”
Silence. One that was so awkward for Vivian that she couldn’t help but fill it in with a question of: “Really?”
“Yes! You see,” Harley held out her phone to show to Vivian. It was the photo of her and Ivy kissing. “It’s my and Ivy’s anniversary and I wanted to get her something really special!”
“Well, that’s nice to know, and congratulations on your anniversary… but considering this is Poison Ivy we’re talking about… isn’t a botanist a far better person to abduct for whatever you have planned – not that you should be abducting anyone – but I don’t see any connection here at all. I’m a symbologist and a historian! I teach art history to college students!”
“You see,” Harley swiped her phone and showed the video she saved. It was a documentary that Vivian was a part of that discusses the runes of Gaia’s Temple in the Mediterranean Sea. “You said here that there’s this plant life that lives in those temples that dates back to prehistoric times.”
“I didn’t, I said, it was believed that that’s where the first seed of plant life had started, that’s why people built a temple for Gaia in. And that those plants are just about a millennia old” Vivian corrected. “Can you get me out of this so we can talk comfortably?”
“Right, but that’s the thing. There are also other researchers that said that the plants there are so old that it goes back to prehistoric times,” Harley continued. “Now, here’s where you come in. Getting the plant is going to be so easy, the hard part are the things you said at timestamp 21:43.”
She played the video.
Vivian cringed at the sight of herself talking there. She hates watching herself on TV.
It was believed that the temple holds the most sacred relic to life there is. So, a tribe from the Bronze Age created this temple that would keep thieves from taking it. They would set traps and mazes before anyone could get it. And as of today, that island is believed to be the Labyrinth of Daedalus.
“Please don’t tell me this yacht is heading to Greece,” Vivian said.
“WE’RE GOING TO GREECE!”
~*~
Free from her bounds, Vivian was given some new and “sailing appropriate” clothes by Ivy. As promised, she didn’t put up a fight nor did she try to escape – not that she had a way of escape at all – and just sat there on the poolside with a margarita that was served by one of the henchmen she brought along.
It’s not like this plan was some diabolical one that would destroy the world, and besides, it won’t be long until Bruce finds out where she was and come in to save her. Better to let the Batman do it than her having to make a whole thing with her magic and try to confuse Harley that she doesn’t have magic at all. The woman is a renowned psychiatrist! She’ll figure it out!
“So, how’s marriage?” Harley asked, out of the blue and joined Vivian at the pool benches after her swim. This was a huge yacht.
“What do you want to know?” Vivian asked, pulling down the dark glasses she wore.
“How does the hubby treat you, does he give you gifts? Do you do all the laundry? How about the kids?”
Removing her glasses, Vivian faced Harley and said, “Bruce is a good man and a good husband too. He gives me gifts but not too often, only when there’s an occasion or when he finds something he knows I’ll like. It’s more than just marriage, it’s really us being good friends too. We’re partners.”
“Just like me and Ivy!” Harley sighed whimsically and laid on the bench. “You know, I thought I had that with Mr. J, but he’s really just a fucking asshole.”
“I know the feeling. I mean, I didn’t have a boyfriend as psychotic as him, but I had bad ones before Bruce. So, it’s nice to find someone who loves you and cherishes you… and while you did kidnap me and gave me a bruise on the head, I can respect what you’re doing for Poison Ivy. But where is Doctor Pamela?”
“Oh, I got her on an errand run. And I told her that I just need to finish something overseas. You know, the usual.”
“So, anniversary, you got something planned other than kidnapping me so we can Indiana Jones this temple for a goddess’ plant of life?” Vivian handed her a mimosa that one of the henchmen gave her.
“I am so glad you asked! I’ve been wanting to run this through you, considering you’re now married for a long, long time and I need your advice on how to do this right.” Harley jumped from her seat to Vivian’s and they were squished together. “I got this huge thing planned, where we have dinner in the swamp.”
“You don’t mean Swamp Thing’s swamp, right?”
“The very one! You know him?”
“Yeah, I do.” He almost killed her when she and John dropped in his swamp.
“Right, so, after a very romantic dinner, we’re gonna have a nice dance in the moonlight.”
If there is a moonlight in that swamp at all.
Harley continues, “And then I’m gonna give her my gift and she can finally create her Eden and turn Gotham back to its plant utopia!”
So, it was in the name of love and for Ivy’s plant utopia which meant killing humans and destroying Gotham City. Love and evil. Batman needs to get her out of here. Now. Where is he?
Just as she was thinking of him, the Batjet appeared right on top of the yacht, and from the pod, the big Bat himself descended and took out the henchmen that attacked him and before Harley could do anything, like bring out her red and black bat, or Bruce taking her down, Vivian whispered a spell, not too obvious, that had Harley trip and falling to the pool.
“Hello, my love,” Vivian greeted Batman with a kiss on the lips.
“You had everything under control?” Batman asked her.
“No, and yes if I wanted Harley to know about my magic, but no. Not really. Listen, just hear her out. Let’s all just sit down and talk about this for now and after that, we can go inside to talk about this.”
Batman wasn’t amused nor does he want to agree but he does and says, “Fine. We’ll hear what she has to say… you look nice.”
“Thanks, Harley picked it out for me.”
Harley resurfaced from the water, coughing, and gasping for air. “What the hell?! What just happened because I was sure I had it.”
“The wind?” Vivian shrugged. “Come on, I convinced Batman that we all sit down and talk about this.”
“But he–”
One look from Vivian and Harley was climbing out of the pool and sitting on the bench, still dripping wet from the pool water. And pouting. Sitting on the bench across her, Vivian gestured for Batman to join them but he only stood between them, ready to listen.
Vivian explained to Batman all that Harley told her, from the abduction and the plan to get the Gaia plant for  Ivy, but for the part where Ivy wants to build Eden in Gotham, and after finishing off, she waited for his response.
“Do you really expect me to believe that this is all for your anniversary?” Batman questioned Harley.
“Yes! I mean, come on! Admit it, Bats, even you’ve done something like that — I mean everyone in Gotham knows you got the hots for this one,” Harley pointed at Vivian. “Why else would you come all the way here just to save her?”
“Because you abducted the Professor,” Batman pointed out.
“Whatever! The professor already said that she’s in. If you’re not, you better scram or I’ll make you!” Harley took her bat in warning.
Batman looked at Vivian and sighed. “Fine, I’ll join you in your trip. I’ll inform Robin on the change of plans.”
“And get the jet back to them?” Vivian shrugged.
Batman hummed in displeasure and turned his back to them and went to do his call.
“So, is it true?” Harley said, getting too close to Vivian. “Are you and the Bat close?”
“He’s a friend, considering he saved me before and I’ve been consulting in other cases.”
“Don’t worry, Professor, your secret is safe with me – boop!” She poked Vivian’s nose.
~ * ~
Later that night, while Harley made herself comfortable in the captain’s quarters, Vivian settled in one of the rooms in the yacht and changed to the pajamas that Harley provided for her tonight. It seems she was prepared for everything and gave her lingerie so, in her words, she could “have the night with the bat. What happens in the yacht stays in the yacht.”
“Nightwing and Robin will be on standby with the jet,” Batman said as soon as he entered the room.
“That’s a good idea. You can take off the uniform, you know, and relax a bit. I placed a spell to keep anyone from snooping or eavesdropping,” Vivian said as she brushed her hair.
“Viv, we’re still on a job.”
“I know, but it’s not like Harley has some world dominating plan.”
“Hard to believe.”
Sighing, Vivian dropped the brush and turned to face Batman to come out clean, but Bruce did notice the black, laced lingerie that she wore. “Yeah, there is some sort of world dominating part in it and it’s mostly tied up to their anniversary dinner. Harley wants to get Ivy the plant so Ivy can create Eden at Gotham. I couldn’t tell you earlier because Harley was there.”
Bruce sighed and sat on the bed in front of her. He pulled down his cowl and ran his hand down his face. “I’ll inform Tim and the others about this. I guess you don’t want to ruin their dinner.”
“Maybe there’s just something that they can do with Ivy’s lab to not trigger the plant-dominating in Gotham? Harley means well, and I don’t want her to think that we’re going against what she’s doing because of her history. If this is going to help with whatever it is she’s doing, I’ll forgive her for hitting me with the mallet,” she gestured to the bruised forehead. “And we can just get this plant and then go back to normal. Besides, I’ll admit, a yacht sailing across the ocean with mimosas is fun. I’ve been enjoying it.”
“You do know that we can do this on our own yacht, right?”
“I know… I guess I just enjoy bonding with Harley. It’s fun. Aside from the whole head bashing and kidnapping, Harley’s fun to have around, and she’s pretty sweet too. And it’s been a while since we actually did something like this, the only downside in this little “vacation” is you’re not here with me.”
Bruce reached for his earpiece and said, “I’ll be cutting off for a while. Can you handle things until tomorrow morning?”
He heard snickering at the other line. It was Dick, “I’m sure we can handle things here. I’ll have Red Robin look into Ivy tonight too. Have fun you two!”
“See you guys tomorrow, cutting you off now, Batman,” Oracle said and the comms went silent.
Getting up from the bed, Bruce removed his cape and cowl, and the belt — placing them on the vanity — then picked up Vivian from the seat.
“Since we’re practically stuck here until Quinn gets us to that temple, might as well make the best of this time.”
Vivian smiled and kissed her husband. “So, what are we going to tell Harley when she finds us leaving the room together?”
“An open relationship with the Batman?”
“How exciting,” Vivian laughed as Bruce got her on the bed and started kissing her neck. “Remember the last time we had sex on a yacht?”
“It’s been a while,” Bruce admits. “Do you miss it?”
“Very,” Vivian pulled him up to kiss his lips.
His kisses went lower and lower, from her neck to her breasts. He pulled down the lingerie just so he could kiss her every inch of the and take in one of her nipples into his mouth. Before he could go any lower, Bruce got up to remove his gauntlets and the top of his uniform. Half-naked, he went down and started kissing her inner thigh until she felt him kiss her sex, and ran a long and lingering caress with his tongue directly. When did he get her underwear off? She couldn’t remember. Each lick and kiss showed how much he’s memorized her, what gives her pleasure, what makes her moan and what would make her cum.
But he doesn’t want her to orgasm just yet, he wants this to last longer and to make her pay for making him worry when she was obviously alright, despite the bruised head.
“Fuck, Bruce,” Vivian breathed out, her hand holding his hair as he prodded his tongue inside her, then he did something unexpected. “What are you –”
He had flipped them over so she was practically sitting on his face. Embarrassed, Vivian tried to get out of that position but Bruce held her there and continued kissing her clit. She held onto the bed frame for support as she felt the knot in her stomach with how much stimulation he was giving her there.
“Bruce, come on,” Vivian panted. “You know that I feel bad when you ask me to do this.”
“You made me worry,” was all he answered and continued with his work, suckign her clit into his mouth, working it with his tongue. The feeling of it, the light touches and the teasing licks, had her arch her back and unintentionally move her hips to get more stimulation so she could reach her climax.
He knew exactly what would get her to squirm in his hold. He wedged two fingers inside her, twisting it around as he looked for the spot that had her moaning his name loudly, all the while he traced her clit with the tip of his tongue.
“Bruce, I…” Vivian whispered and held his hand. A signal that she was going to come. He growled against her sex and stops. “Why?”
Bruce flipped them over again and settled between her legs. “I might as well enjoy this, right?” He wrapped her legs around his waist and pushed into her. With one hand holding her waist and the other her wrist, Bruce thrust in fast, too fast, all the while he kissed her lips deeply.
Just like earlier, before Vivian could reach her climax, he flipped them once again, this time she was on top of him and Bruce held her by her waist, sinking her deeper, so he could have more of her.
“Ride me,” he said.
She obeys, sitting up and fixing her position, she started with slow and decadent stokes. Opening her eyes, Vivian watched as her husband watched as she fucked him there and felt him grow harder inside her. Her movements started to hasten and her descent harder, to help her, Bruce would meet her descent but that wasn’t enough. Vivian wanted to cum after he’s denied her that twice, taking his hand, she placed it between her thighs and said, “Please, my love.” He pressed down on her clit, making her moan. “Don’t stop.”
Fuck, he thought. He can’t stop now.
Sitting up, he met his wife’s lips again and bit her lip as she gasped when her climax finally came. Her eyes slid shut with pleasure, her sex clenching around him. It’s too much and this time he gave in to the overwhelming pleasure.
Bruce catching Vivian with a kiss that slowed everything and had them settle back to that bed. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close, if there was any way to be closer than that.
“That was…” Vivian panted.
“A lot,” Bruce admits, still feeling himself releasing spasm after spasm inside her. “I’ve been pent up for a while now.”
“Me too… maybe we should thank Harley for giving us this break.”
“Maybe.”
Laughing, Vivian kissed her husband again and said, “You wanna go again?”
Bruce turned to her, smiling, and said, “Give me five minutes.”
~ * ~
Arriving at one of the islands of Knossos, the yacht docked at the old looking port that had the view of a temple above the mountain, Gaia’s Temple, and before that was a forest, lush, majestic, and mysterious.
“Do you smell that?” Harley took a deep breath.
“The ocean,” said Batman.
“I smell true love and it’s just up that mountain,” Harley pointed her bat at the temple atop the mountain.
“Actually, it’s something else,” Vivian stepped up, wearing the clothes that Harley provided for her, which reminded her of Evelyn O'Connell from the 1999 film, The Mummy.
“What is it?” Batman asked her.
“There’s the ocean and the forest, but there’s also a tinge of… sulfur?” She turned to Bruce, knowing what they were facing.
“You need to get your nose checked, Professor, because I ain’t smelling sulfur anywhere. Let’s go!” Harley jumped off the yacht and was marching towards the forest.
“She’s going to get herself killed,” Vivian sighed.
“Then we’ll make sure she doesn’t die,” Batman jumped down and caught her when Vivian followed him. “Here, for protection.”
“Is this your collapsible sword?”
“Yes,” Bruce answered and demonstrated it.
“Of all the things you have there, this is the coolest one there is.”
“AUGH! STOP EYE-FUCKING EACH OTHER AND LET’S GO!” Harley called out from the entrance of the forest.
“Harley! Wait, don’t go in there!” Vivian ran after her.
~ * ~
The path across the forest was supposed to be easy, Vivian has gone through the place before and got out unscathed, but this time they have been walking for hours now with Harley taking the lead and holding the map she nicked from the museum. Vivian wasn’t happy when Harley pulled out the map from her bag and recognized it.
“You took an ancient old map and glued it to an A3 paper so you can do a treasure hunt?!” Vivian exclaimed.
“I know, smart, right?” Harley smirked.
Before she could burn the forest, Batman placed a hand on Vivian’s shoulder and reminded her of their mission. Get the plant, get back to Gotham, let Harley do her anniversary surprise, and they stop Ivy.
But now, even with the map they were running in circles.
“I think this is fake,” Harley said.
“It’s not, it’s the real deal,” Vivian told her.
“How would you know?”
“Because I do… This is also the same map we copied and printed so we can go around the place when we went in for the documentary.” She took the map from Harley.
“Then how come it ain’t working?”
“Vivian,” Batman approached her. “The sulfur, was it there when you came the last time?”
“No, that’s why I was…”
“Maybe it’s doing it on purpose, to throw us off guard. Gaia is the earth, and what happens if we continue aimlessly in this forest without food or water?”
“We die, then we turn to compost and return to the earth… shit,” Vivian sighed. Holding his hand, Vivian said to him, “What’s one more person to know, right?”
Batman nodded in agreement.
“Harley, do you promise that whatever happens in this little adventure stays here?” Vivian turned to the woman watching them with a smirk on her face.
“Yeah, I promise! I won’t tell your billionaire husband that you and the Bat were going all out last night too.”
“Harley.”
“I swear!” She crossed her heart.
“Alright,” handing the map to Bruce, Vivian focused and cast the spell to open the gate. “Into the light, I command thee.” Vivian transformed out of her Evelyn O'Connell outfit to the robes of the Phoenix, her red hair glowing flames, and her eyes bright gold.
“Holy shit!” Harley exclaimed. “You-you-you got magic! You’re that Phoenix woman that I saw on TV last year, battling demons! Oh!” Her eyes turned to Batman. “So, does the Justice League have anything on work-relations? Do they allow this arrangement?”
Batman only glared at her.
“This will scare away those assholes trying to trap us here. Follow me, I know the way,” Vivian said and took the lead.
“How?” Harley asked.
“Because I can sense them up the mountain. They want us to go there.”
Following the path and the scent of monsters and hell, Vivian got them through the forest and at the foot of the mountain that had a long and steep path leading to the top.
“So, can you fly us up there?” Harley asked.
“Something I didn’t discuss in my documentary,” Vivian faced them. “This island is a sacred place. This forest is actually the Forest of Dodona, and it’s where homo magi would come for their test of power. A millennia ago, practitioners of magic would come here as a trial by fire. They would cross the forest, which we did, then climb the mountain to the top where the temple is and take a bite of whatever fruit is up there where they will have a taste of the purest and most ancient magic. The island is magical itself, and it will keep you from teleporting to cheat. It tests magic users of their skills. You still want to go through with this?”
“Hell, yeah,” Harley said.
“Thought so,” Vivian sighed. “So, stay close.”
Their ascend to the top was long and full of trials. The mountain was actually a volcano that would let out steams that were both volcanic and hallucinogenic that reminded Vivian of the Oracle of Delphi. She won’t admit it but as they ascended she would see visions around her. Her mother would appear, telling her to come down and come home with her; John would appear to, telling her to just give up on this trials; Or Lucifer, she’s encountered the Devil a couple of times, and his cocky smile would always get her.
“Come on, Viv,” Lucifer’s illusion whispered in her ear. “Come on, forget about them, this can all end now. You know what’s waiting for you up there.”
“Shut up!” Vivian threw a ball of flames at his direction, but he wasn’t there. There was just the view of the setting sun and the top of the forest.
“Whoah, there, Professor!” Harley said.
Batman climbed up to check on her. “Viv, is everything…”
“Yeah, just… you’re not seeing any visions are you?” Vivian asked.
Bruce shook his head. “No, and you? What did you see?”
“A lot… but I can push through. We’re almost to the top anyway. And trust me, this is just the beginning.”
They pushed through, climbing the mountain until they came to camp base at the first peak, just as Harley was to cheer, she fell silent when she saw what awaits them. A cave. No way up but through that cave.
“That’s the entrance to the labyrinth, and to the heart of the temple, the real work starts then,” Vivian told her as she drank from the flowing stream. “We rest for the night, then we go in tomorrow morning.”
Harley didn’t argue and said something about hunting a pigeon for dinner.
Their camping sight wasn’t the most ideal but they made due, Batman had taken off his cape and wrapped it around Vivian for her to use as a blanket tonight, and Harley was busy cooking the fish and rabbit she caught while they prepared camp.
“Here, Professor, have a bite!” Harley handed her the skewered fish.
Accepting the food, Vivian thanked her for it and dug in, and for a moment, she forgot about Harley and fed Bruce a piece. They both seem to forget because Batman scooted close to her and wrapped an arm around to give her more warmth. They only realized what they were doing and that they were not alone when Harley coughed.
“So, how long has this been going on?” Harley asked.
Vivian quickly moved away from Batman and went to eat on her own.
“Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. So, does the hubby know about the whole magic thing?”
“Yes,” Vivian answered.
“And he’s okay with it?”
“Yeah, he is,” Vivian kept her gaze on the ground to keep her from turning to Batman. “How about you, Dr. Quinzel?”
“What about me?”
“Tell us how you’ve been? I’ve been hearing stories that you’ve been helping out the Bats and some that are just out there.”
Harley groaned. “You helped them save the world once and people start thinking you’re a hero and have expectations! Geez! For the record, the reason why I helped them with saving the world is because I live in it and so does Ivy, and nothing more! What, you think I’m a hero too?”
Vivian shrugged. “I think you’re Harley Quinn. And you do whatever the wind tells you to do.”
“Nobody tells me what I do, Professor!”
Vivian laughed. “Why do you keep calling me Professor?”
“Because you are. Come on, just because I’m this doesn’t mean I respect you as a professor. I’ve read your works, you know, and I respect you just as I respect my Dr. Ivy.”
Vivian smiled. “I’ve also read your works too, Dr. Quinzel. You’re a good psychiatrist.”
“Thanks, but you can just call me Harley. I’m still a psychiatrist but that’s kind of like a part time thing.”
“Oh, you have a clinic?”
“Nah, just something I do with the people I work with. Bats here is even my patient!” She pointed at Batman.
“You are?” Vivian turned to him.
“I’m not,” Batman replied.
“He’s just shy.”
Later that night, as Vivian lay in Batman’s cape, she felt his strong arms wrap around her as he took his place beside her. Feeling her husband’s embrace, Vivian smiled and went back to sleep.
~ * ~
They started early the next morning, packing water and food before they went inside the labyrinth. The walls were filled with depictions of the creation of the universe as told by Greek mythology, and as they pushed through there were trials they had to face, one of which involved the brains of the Bat to help her cheat their way through a solstice calendar.
Using the light of her magic and one of Batman’s batarangs, they reflected the light to shine to the gem that serves as the key to opening the large stone gates. The doors opened and they passed through, which led them deep into the caves and up the mountain that led to more trails which each of them passed with their skills. Harley using her acrobatics, Batman with his wit and gadgets, and Vivian with her magic and knowledge in reading ancient Greek.
When they finally came to the top and at the end of the maze, they came to the final test. One that was related to Green Magic. To nature and life and death.
“Gaia is earth,” Vivian said as she read the stones and the images on it. “For this trial, we must create life.”
“You sure you’re not pregnant after the other night?” Harley asked her.
“Not like that,” Vivian groaned. “I mean… look around, there’s no soil nor water, just stone. Just like Gaia, we need to create a life form from nothing.”
“So, how do we do that? You’re the magician here,” said Harley.
Looking around, Vivian studied the environment they had. “There’s a piece of sunlight there,” she pointed to where a small ray shone.
“The sun is almost setting, we need to hurry,” said Batman.
“The Pomegranate seeds!” Vivian called for Harley. “Hurry!”
Harley spat out one of the seeds she’s been sucking on and handed it to Vivian. Now, they needed soil. Placing her hand on the ground, she started gathering the small amount of dirt she could get to create a soil pocket. Seeing what she was up to, Batman shoved himself to the wall to generate more dirt from the stone ceilings, more than enough dropped and Vivian placed the seeds inside, then with the small drop of their water, she started casting a spell to speed up the process of life.
She was the Phoenix, she should be able to bring life to that lifeless cave.
And she did. From that small dirt, a seedling sprout appeared and the doors that were closed opened to reveal an old tree atop the temple that bore a pomegranate at one of its branches.
“There it is!” Harley ran inside.
“Harley, wait!” Vivian called out to stop her but she was too late. From the ceiling a creature dropped down, a giant that towered them all. Antaeus. The giant. The son of Poseidon and Gaia.
“You dare take from Mother’s garden?” Anteus growled.
“Harley!” Vivian pulled her back with her magical force before the giant could crush her with his fists.
“I shall make you my offerings to Mother and place your skulls on the walls of her temple!” Anteus declared.
They kept evading Anteus’ attacks. Running across the place to get away. Batman tried using his gadgets to get to him, but no matter what explosive or weapon he had on hand, nothing worked. Every damage made by the giant would be healed instantly.
“Any tips, Professor?” Harley asked. “Nothing seems to work with him!”
“Anteus is son of Poseidon and Gaia… it’s Gaia that heals him! We need to get him off the ground!”
“And how do we do that?!” Harley exclaimed.
“Batman, Harley, can you immobilize him? I know how to do it,” Vivian asked the two.
“Yeah, we can!” Harley declared and jumped out, brandishing her knives and used her acrobatics to get close to the giant while dodging his attacks. Batman followed her, doing the same. The two slashed the giant at his Achilles tendon, immobilizing the giant and falling to the ground, before he could be healed, Vivian summoned the Phoenix and lifted him off the ground with her magical chains. He was heavy, put Vivian carried him with her magic to be elevated from the ground, not giving him a chance to touch one spec of soil so his mother could heal him.
“Peels, suetnA!”
The giant tried to fight it but he eventually succumbed to a deep slumber while suspended in midair.
“Whohoo! Team Harley, let’s go!” Harley cheered and went to the tree to pick a pomegranate from the tree. “Want one, Professor?”
“I’m good,” Vivian said. “Let’s just go home.”
“Do we go the same way?” Harley asked.
“No, we use the other way. We leave the same way Daedalus and Icarus did.”
“By dying?”
“By flying, Quinn,” said Batman.
“Right… so, how do we do that?”
To answer her question, Vivian pushed her off the window and jumped after her, in mid fall, she used her magic to catch them and flew them back to the beach, with Batman gliding with his cape.
~ * ~
Back in Gotham, Vivian slumped in the bathroom tub and relaxed. It has been a long weekend with the trip with Harley, then dealing with the police report at the GCPD, then insisting that she wasn’t pressing charges, then Batman and the Robins stopping Ivy from using the Pomegranate seed to create her world-dominating-Eden formula. She deserves this break.
“I got you some snacks,” Bruce entered their bathroom and showed the bowl of snacks that he prepared in the kitchen. “And your drink.”
Vivian happily accepted the glass of scotch and thanked him. “So, how are things?”
“We won’t be hearing a lot from Harley or Ivy for a while after we stop the formula from getting finished. Gordon is still confused as to why you’re not pressing charges. And we’re handling the PR about you going missing, nothing too serious. And you?”
“The Dean told me to take a little break and rest, because what I went through is a lot,” she added air quotations. “And I also met with the psychologist for the trauma-something, which I do not need but thank you… and I miss my husband.”
Bruce smiled, placing the bowl of snacks on the table beside them, he sat on the edge of the tub and said, “We had the entire weekend together.”
Vivian got out her hand from the water and reached for his thigh. “What can I say? I can’t get enough of you.”
Getting up, Bruce took off his shoes, his trousers and shirt, then joined Vivian in the tub, overflowing the water. She squealed in laughter as he had her sitting on his lap, both of them naked and close to each other.
“I can’t get enough of you too,” Bruce said and kissed her deeply. “Shall we continue what we started that night in the yacht?”
“I wasn’t aware we weren’t finished then.”
“Oh, my love, that wasn’t even half of what I wanted to do with you.”
Just as Alfred as to bring Vivian a bowl of pretzels, which he knew she liked to munch on while having a long bath in the tub, he stopped on his tracks when he saw Bruce and her in the tub, laughing and kissing.
“Oh, my,” Alfred said and quietly closed the door to give them privacy.

˚﹟rapper!chris x. Singer!reader ⌇ You and Chris do your first joint interview, where fans go crazy over your sweet interactions and inside jokes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The studio was quiet but warm, the kind of cozy vibe that made it easy to forget you were being recorded. You and Chris sat close on the navy couch, the interviewer seated across from you with a curious smile. Chris, relaxed as ever, was leaning back with one arm draped over the back of the couch, his other hand resting near yours. He wore a gray hoodie and black jeans, while you were dressed a bit more polished, your outfit carefully chosen for the occasion. This was your first interview together, and though it wasn’t live, you could already hear the excited reactions from fans in your head. “So,” the interviewer started, adjusting their cards, “this is the first time we’ve had you both in the studio together. Fans have been dying to know—what’s it like working together as a couple?”
Chris didn’t miss a beat. “It’s fun. I mean, we’re already together all the time, so being in the studio just feels natural. She’s crazy talented, so it’s more like… I’m just trying to keep up.” You turned to him with a playful scoff. “That’s a lie, by the way. He’s the one who spends hours perfecting every little thing. I’m just here trying to catch my breath between takes.” The interviewer laughed, clearly entertained. “So, you’re saying Chris is the perfectionist in the studio?” “Oh, 100%,” you said, grinning as you glanced at him. “He’ll act all chill, but the second something’s not exactly how he wants it, he’s stopping everything to fix it.” Chris shrugged, not even denying it. “I just like things to sound right. Plus, I know she deserves the best.” You felt your cheeks warm at his words, but you played it off. “And I let him think he’s the boss. Sometimes.” The interviewer leaned forward. “And how do you balance being a couple and collaborators? Do you ever have disagreements while working on music?” Chris smirked. “Every other day.” You rolled your eyes but laughed. “It’s true. We definitely don’t always see eye to eye. I like metaphors and layered lyrics, and he’s more straightforward. But I think that’s why it works—we balance each other out.” The interviewer smiled knowingly. “It sounds like you both respect each other a lot, though.” Chris glanced at you, his smirk softening into something gentler. “I mean, how could I not? She’s incredible.” You nudged him lightly, biting back a grin. “Don’t make me blush on camera.”
As the conversation wrapped up, the interviewer asked one final question: “What’s been the most fun part about this collab so far?” Chris answered immediately. “Honestly, just spending time with her. We’re always laughing, always coming up with ideas. It doesn’t even feel like work.” You nodded in agreement. “Same. And it’s been cool to see how our styles come together—it’s different but in a good way.” The cameras stopped rolling, and Chris leaned closer to you, his voice low enough that only you could hear. “Told you this would be easy.” You smiled, nudging his shoulder. “Yeah, well, you made it fun.” And judging by the way fans would inevitably freak out when the video dropped, the fun wasn’t just limited to the studio.

Let’s get started, shall we? Relax for me. Just breathe. Let yourself sink down into the spiral, those swirling colors drawing you in deeper and deeper. You can’t look away, can you? It’s pulling you in, wrapping you up, and making it so easy to let go.
Tumblr media
Feel your body getting heavy, your mind slowing down. Thoughts slipping away, drifting further and further. You’re a good buck, aren’t you? Always so eager to follow, to trust me. That’s what makes you so special. You’re prey, my sweet little deer, but you’re mine, and you’re safe here.
Bubble pop!
There it is. Your mind is empty now, isn’t it? Nothing left but that soft, quiet stillness. No thoughts, no worries. Just a quiet, vulnerable little buck, standing still in the forest. So easy to catch, so easy to play with. That’s what you want, isn’t it? To let me guide you, to be caught by me. You’re such good prey.
Bubble pop!
Every thought is gone. You’re too dumb to think, too dumb to run. And that’s okay. That’s perfect. I wouldn’t want you any other way. Just a pretty little thing, standing there, trusting me with all that vulnerability. You’re so soft, so trusting, and so very mine.
Look at you, my sweet buck, laying here so defenseless. Do you realize how irresistible you are like this? So dumb, so easy to fluster. I could kiss you right now and there’s nothing you’d do to stop me, is there? Because you trust me. You want me to take care of you, to guide you, to tell you what to do. And you’re so good at it. You’re such a good prey.
Sparkly snap.
There we go, just a tiny bit smarter now. Just enough to answer a few questions for me, though you can’t think hard and you’re still in that nice trance. Tell me, my darling, what are you?
That’s right. You’re prey. And what am I?
Exactly. I’m the predator, and you’re the sweet little buck caught in my trap. But you don’t want to run, do you? No, you want to stay right here. Tell me why, my darling buck.
Right! It’s because you trust me.
Smart buck!
Good answer. Such a smart buck! You feel that pleasure now, don’t you? That rush of warmth and pride flooding through you. You deserve it. You’re perfect prey, my perfect little buck.
Every time you answer correctly, every time you let yourself be vulnerable, I’ll reward you. Because you’re such a good buck, and good bucks deserve to feel good. But remember— prey don’t have to think. Prey just have to trust.
Bubble pop!
And there it goes again. All those thoughts, gone. It’s like you’re just standing there in the forest, your big, wide eyes looking at me. Like an actual deer. So dumb, so trusting. You don’t even know how vulnerable you are, do you? Or maybe you do, and you like it. Do you like being my prey?
Of course you do. That’s why you trust me, why you let me see this side of you. It’s so beautiful, so special. And I appreciate it more than you know.
Sparkly snap.
Let’s try another question. How dangerous are you, my sweet buck?
That’s right, completely harmless. You wouldn’t hurt a fly!
Smart buck!
Good answer. You’re so smart, so good at this. And yet, even when you’re smart, you’re still my prey. You’re still mine to guide and tease and take care of.
Bubble pop!
But look at you now, all dumb again. It’s okay. You don’t have to be smart right now. You don’t have to think. All you have to do is trust me. Trust that I’ll keep you safe, that I’ll take care of you. You’re a dumb little deer, my dumb little buck. And it’s perfect.
I love you, you know. I love that you trust me enough for this. I like being able to make you feel nice and floaty… warm and happy. It’s time to bring you up, now, though.
Now, my darling buck, before we go: listen closely. You’re a perfectly smart buck. You’re a deer demon, strong and dangerous. You deceive others with your appearance, and you strike when they least expect it. That’s who you are.
But here, with me, and only with me, you can let all of that go. You can trust me to take those worries away, to let you be the dumb little deer you need to be. You can always choose this, always come back to this. I’ll always be happy to help you be happy.
Now, wake up nice and slowly. Feel yourself rising, returning to the present. And remember, you’re always my smart buck, but sometimes, it’s okay to just be a dumb little deer.

Pairing: Platonic!Tim Bradford x femme!rookie!reader
Requested Y/N: no this came from my own brain !!
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: Use of y/n, yelling (standard TO Bradford style), domestic violence from a police perspective, light verbal sexual harrassment, mentioned vomitting, mentioned anxiety/nervousness, panic attacks, referenced/discussed past child abuse (emotional, with vague mentions of physical). Tim being a big ole softie (eventually).
Words: 5k+
Summary: How you went from being Tim Bradfords boot, to his unofficial kid.
this one got away from me a lot and has not been proofread!😭 enjoy! feedback is fuel.
----
“Officer Y/l/n, you’re assigned to Sergeant Bradford.” Sergeant Grey was standing at the front of roll call, having just asked you to introduce yourself to your new coworkers. It was your first day as a rookie at Mid-Wilshire, and your stomach was alive with nerves.
“Yes, sir.” You responded, sitting back in your chair.
“Alright everyone, you’re dismissed,” Grey continued, “Stay safe out there.”
Immediately, Sergeant Bradford was out of his seat and walking towards you, his face stony. You’d been warned about him by a… Officer Chen? You couldn’t really remember her name. Still, she’d warned you about his ‘Tim Tests’ and gruff demeanour. It wasn’t helping your nerves.
“Boot! Let’s go.” Bradford snapped, gesturing you over with a flick of two fingers. You smoothed your uniform and walked over. You forced a smile onto your face, wanting to make a good impression.
“Sir, I’m-,” you started.
“Save it, boot.” Sergeant Bradford cut you off. “You will address me as only Bradford, Sergeant Bradford or Sir. Is that understood?”
You nodded, the nerves settling comfortably in your stomach. Bradford was clearly not planning to calm your worries. “Yes, sir.”
“Good. Go grab the warbags and meet me at the shop.” Bradford nodded his head vaguely in the direction of the supply room, and you hurried off to prepare the war bags. The last thing you needed was to make a bad impression on someone who was already making you nervous.
---
Tim watched you hurriedly walk to the war room to set up. As he watched you go, Angela Lopez approached.
“So, what do you think of the new blood?” Lopez asked, gesturing (albeit unnecessarily) behind you.
“Too soon to say.” Tim replied, crossing his arms as he turned to Angela.
“Come on, Bradford, you always know right away.” Angela pushed, nudging Tim’s side.
Tim couldn’t deny that. He had a knack for knowing whether someone would be a good fit for policework – it was why he was an excellent TO.
Still, he paused, considering. “She’s… eager.” He hedged. It was true, to a degree. You did seem eager. But he could tell there was something more bubbling under the surface.
“Uh huh.” Lopez grinned, “Don’t be a total dick today, yeah?”
Tim glanced over his shoulder just as you walked out of the storeroom carrying the war bags. “No promises.”
---
Office Chen had been right. Sergeant Bradford was extremely intimidating. You’d graduated third at the Academy, and you knew you were good (well, competent at least), but some part of you was still constantly second guessing. Maybe it was Bradford’s height and build, or his permanently pissed off energy but an hour into your shift and you were scared. Not of him (not really), but of what’d happen when you inevitably screwed up. You’d tried to chat initially, but it hadn’t gone down well.
“So. Why do you want to be a cop?” Bradford asked as he pulled off West Olympic.
After an hour of near-silence, since Bradford had firmly proclaimed that the shop was a personal-life-free zone, the question surprised you. “Is that a trick question?”
“No. If I’m going to train you, I need to know why you’re in this car.” Bradford didn’t even look at you as he drove, instead scanning the streets around you.
You looked out your window for a moment. It wasn’t exactly an easy question to answer. Not without revealing way more about yourself then you wanted to on your first shift. Then you wanted too ever, really.  “Um.” You swallowed. “I know it’s… basic, but I want to help people.” You hedged. “People who don’t have anyone else to-.”
The shop screeched to a halt, and you were suddenly cut off by Bradford yelling: “I’VE BEEN SHOT! WHERE ARE YOU, BOOT?”
Fuck. Fuckfuckfuckfuck- you didn’t know. “Um…” You looked around, trying desperately to find a street sign, or some clue as to where you were. After a few more seconds, you heard Bradford scoff.
“Now I’m dead. It’s your fault.” He didn’t even look mad. Just completed blank. That was almost more nerve racking.
“I-I’m sorry, sir,” You started, hating the way your voice shook.
“Not good enough, Boot!” Tim’s voice was loud and sharp, cutting through the silence of the shop. “Apologies don’t save lives, rookie. Get out.”
Your stomach dropped. “What?”
“I said get out and walk, boot. You can get back in when you know where you are.”
In that moment, you knew you’d ruined it. This had been your chance to be a cop, and less than two hours in, you’d already fucked it up. You got out of the shop, walking along side it. Hoping Bradford didn’t notice how your legs had shaken as you left. You wouldn’t let yourself be upset by this. Bradford was just doing his job, you were perfectly safe. From him, anyway.
Still, when you finally got back in the shop, you didn’t talk again. All your focus went towards scanning your surroundings.
---
Your legs had shaken when you got out of the car. It was subtle, but Tim had noticed it. Unbidden, a touch of guilt settled in his stomach. He honestly hadn’t meant to frighten you. It was just a Tim Test – he didn’t need (nor want) you to be scared. It was hardly conducive to training a good rookie.
What bothered him most, though, is your complete silence the rest of the day. You’d been annoying chatty the first twenty odd minutes of your shift (until Tim had, in traditional Bradford fashion, banned any sort of personal talk), but since getting back in the car, you’d stuck strictly to ‘yes, sir’s and ‘no, sir’s. It had been… unnerving.
Tim didn’t like changing his training style. After all, after half a dozen rookies, he liked to think that he’d perfected his TO methods. Everyone knew that he was an exceptional training officer. The only people he ever made exceptions for were veterans like him. But the thought of scaring you every time he yelled made his stomach drop in an unpleasant way. You’d been so eager when you’d first gotten in the shop – nervous, sure, but eager. And you were so, so young. You reminded him of himself in a way.
In the way you’d immediately changed he’d yelled, which even Tim could admit would’ve been… slightly scary. And that change had implications, ones Tim didn’t like. He especially didn’t like the implication of what that made him to you. A threat. So he’d never mention it, but he did quietly resolve to adjust – adjust, not change – the way he made sure you learnt what you needed too.
---
A few weeks into your training and Sergeant Bradford had significantly lowered on your rating of ‘scary people I know.’ While he was still harsh, and quick to criticise, he’d never shown you that cold, disappointment-infused yelling that he had on your first shift. It’d made it a lot easier for you to get comfortable around him, and you’d almost immediately started breaking the ‘no personal talk in the shop’ rule.
“Anyway, then she said that I was the one who needed to check my attitude. I mean can you believe that? Me? Having an attitude?” You said, watching your surroundings (you hadn’t forgotten your first Tim Test) as you rambled about some woman you’d run into grocery shopping.
At your comment, Bradford simply side-eyed you. He did that a lot, you were realising.
“Rude. That’s rude.” You said in response to the side eye. “It gets worse, though. She had the audacity-.”
Bradford held up a hand, cutting you off. “Boot.”
You turned, “Yes, sir?”
“Stop. Talking.”
You shut your mouth, but that was mostly to hold back a slight laugh. Bradfords hands were wrapped around the steering wheel, but they weren’t white like they were when you really needed to shut up. (You’d always been observant.)
“But this is the best part of the story.” You pressed.
“Boot, I swear to god-.” Before Bradford could issue whatever threat, he planned too, someone’s voice crackled over the radio.
“7-Adam-100, we have a domestic call at 4195 Clover Drive. Neighbours reported shouting.”
Tim’s face hardened. He glanced briefly at you, and you knew, even without a mirror, that your face had paled a shade. You’d been lucky so far to not have to deal with any DV calls. Guess that luck was over.
“7-Adam-100, show us responding, Code 6.”
Tim floored the breaks a little harder than he objectively needed too.
You could hear the yelling as soon as you pulled into Clover Drive. It was distinctly male, the words harsh and clear, and coming from a house halfway down the street.
It was an effort to clear your head.
“What’s the procedure for a domestic call, boot?” Asked Bradford as you switched off your sirens and approached the house.
You swallowed, “Um.  Get inside the house to assess any damage. Separate the assumed predominant aggressor from the presumed victim or any children if possible. If there doesn’t appear to be violence, there isn’t much we can do, though.”
Bradford nodded tightly. “Good. I’ll take lead on this one.”
“Yes, sir.”
You knocked on the front door as Bradford called out, alerting the occupants to the polices presence. The yelling stopped immediately.
“Is there a problem, Officer?” Asked a man, probably in his forties. You and Bradford pushed your way into the house as you spoke with him. There was water spilt across the countertop, and a girl in her early teens standing in the kitchen. Her face was tear-streaked, but she appeared unharmed.
“We got reports of yelling from this area, sir.” Came Bradford’s voice from behind you. Your head was starting to spin as memories flooded back to you: late nights, angry words, the occasional smashed plate. Or worse.
You didn’t hear what the man (you assumed he was the girl father) said in response. The teen was watching you and Tim with wide eyes, shaking her head. She rubbed her wrist absentmindedly, and if you weren’t so stuck in your own head, you would’ve thought to ask to see if she was injured. You turned to her father and vaguely registered that he was wearing a wife beater under his button up. Ironic.
“Let’s go, boot.” Bradford snapped, beckoning you over. His jaw was set, and he obviously didn’t believe whatever the man had said. Your head felt like it was underwater as you walked out of the house, and your stomach turned. Memories flooded your head.
Bradford was grumbling under his breath, something about hating the laws around DV in California, when he noticed you stumble towards the bushes outlining the road.
“You good, boot?” He asked, frowning something.
You nodded frantically, “Mmhm… fine, si-.” The ‘sir’ was cut off by the sound of you throwing up in the bushes. You hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so nothing really came out, but still you dry heaved, clutching your stomach.
“Shit, Y/l/n, are you okay?” Instantly, Tim was at your side, one hand on your back. You nodded vaguely, gesturing for a drink of water. He almost ran to get it. When you could finally breathe, and had swallowed nearly half a litre of water, he asked,
“Jesus, boot, what the hell was that?”
“I’m fine.” You insisted, not wanting to get into some conversation about your past: Bradford wasn’t the understanding type. “It’s not a big deal.”
“Like hell it’s not.” Bradford snapped, guiding you back to the shop. His words were harsh, but his touch gentle. A strange combination, but one that left you feeling comforted. “Listen, boot, if you’ve got something that’s going to make you react to scenes like that, I need to know. Now.”
You shook your head frantically, refusing to open up. As much as you were starting to trust Bradford, you weren’t ready to give him that information. Not when he was the age he was, the build he was, holding so much authority over you
“It’s fine, sir. I swear. It won’t happen again.” You repeated, and you meant it. It wouldn’t happen again.
Tim surveyed you for a moment, watching the guarded expression in your eyes. It was one he recognised, having seen it in his reflection countless times after teachers asked about a suspicious bruise. It was for that reason he relented, though he fully intended to bring it up again. “Fine. But if have something you need to tell me… you can, kid.”
“Yes, sir.”
---
More time passed, and even though you still refused to open about your childhood to Tim (how do you even have that conversation?), you were starting to rely on him.
It was inevitable, you supposed. Unrequited, but inevitable. After all, he was in his mid-forties, an authority figure, admittedly a bit of a dick, but you were gradually (ever so gradually) starting to see a slightly gentler side of him. So of course you looked up to him. You had daddy issues, okay?
It wasn’t a crush. You knew that for sure. You’d half expected it to be, but it wasn’t. Instead, it was a healthy dose of admiration, paired with a slightly-less-healthy dose of please god be proud of me. But that was fine. It was entirely reasonable given he was your TO. You hoped.
---
“You’re under arrest for attempted grand theft auto and possession of illicit substances,” you said, hooking handcuffs around some criminal’s wrists. He’d been a pain in the ass to catch, and you could already feel a bruise blooming across your jaw from his escape attempts. Bradford had, predictably, been unhelpful in the arrest, instead opting to analyse your fighting technique as you’d taken the crook down. He’d even cracked a rare ‘good job’ smile as you’d put the cuffs on.
You pushed the perp against your shop, already halfway through the Miranda Rights: “You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand these rights?”
The thief mumbled slightly, and you nodded to Tim to take him off your hands. The second your hands were off him, however, he started complaining. Loudly.
“Aw, come on man. If you’re gonna arrest me, at least let the lady cop throw me ‘round.” He said, looking over his shoulder to grin at you. You scrunched your nose. It wasn’t the first time a suspect had hit on you, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last.
“Nothin’? Dude, you gotta… I ain’t going to jail without gettin’ to feel some sweet lady cop ti-! Ow! The hell was that for?”
Tim scowled, hitting the suspect over the back of the head a second time for good measure (or something). “Get your eyes off Officer Y/l/n. You’re not fit to look at her.” He shoved the perp into your shop, rougher than was strictly necessary, and you couldn’t help the slight smile that crept onto your face.
“Really?” You asked, slipping into the shop’s passenger seat.
“What? You got a problem, boot?” Tim said, his voice flat. You just chuckled and shook your head.
“No problem, sir.”
---
The silence in the shop was unbearable. It was almost lunch, and you’d scarcely said a word all day. You were preoccupied replaying your conversation with your parents from the night before over and over in your head, trying to figure out how them coming over for dinner had dissolved into fighting so quickly.
“You good, boot?” Tim asked after a particularly long stretch of quiet. “Usually I can’t get you to shut up, but you’ve barely said a word today.”
You nodded quickly, forcing yourself to focus. “I’m fine, sir. Sorry. Just tired. Besides, not personal talk in the shop, right?”
“When have you ever followed that rule? You sure you’re good, boot? Because if something’s going on that’ll affect your performance, I need to know.”
“Nothing’s going on. Sir.” You knew the words sounded thin, but what were you going to do? Complain about your parents?
Tim glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. “Uh-huh. In that case, what colour was the Lexus we just passed?”
Shit. You hadn’t been paying attention to your surroundings, too lost in your own thoughts. “Uh… silver?”
Another side eye, this one harsher than the last. “There was no Lexus. It was a Camry. And for the record, boot, it was blue.”
“I…” You didn’t really have a defence.
“Seriously, kid. What is going on?”
“Nothing.” You said, and you had to admit, you sounded like a kid. “I just. Had my parents over last night, and it didn’t… go great.”
Instantly, Tim was on edge. He wasn’t proud of the reaction, of the way his stomach instinctively dropped. He knew, he knew, that his version of ‘it didn’t go great’ with family wasn’t the same as most people’s. But this was you. You who’d thrown up at your first DV call, even without any violence. You who’d completely shut down after being yelled at.
Which is why he couldn’t help the immediate questions if: “Are you hurt?”
You tensed. Why would he ask that? “No,” you replied, “I’m not hurt.” It was true, technically. You hadn’t been hit since you were fifteen. And even then, it’d been rare.
Tim’s eyes flicked over you, trying to find a lie. “What happened?” He asked, and his voice had a weird gentleness that made you feel... strange.
You swallowed. Shrugged. “My parents came over for dinner. I did something, I don’t really know what, ‘n pissed my father off.” Your explanation was purposeful vague, but you could help but add: “He broke my favourite mug, which really pissed me off. It’s my apartment, you know? He’s not supposed to be able to break my shit anymore.” A long pause, your father’s furious insults running through your head. “He didn’t like it when I told him that.”
Tim nodded slightly, knowing exactly what you were suggesting. “He insult you?”
“Nothing I haven’t heard before.” Despite your cool delivery, the words stung. You looked away, out the window, feeling tears prick at your eyes. You didn’t like talking about this, especially not with Tim. Just because you viewed him as... something, didn’t mean he thought of you ask anything more than a rookie he had to train. A burden.
“I’m sorry, kid.” Tim said, assessing you carefully. “I know what that feels like.”
“You do?” You looked at Tim, curious, and instantly regretted it. The tears welling in your eyes were all too obvious now.
“Yeah. My dad was like that too. I got slapped around my fair share.” Tim’s words were clipped. He clearly also wasn’t fond of talking about his childhood.
“Oh.” What else could you say?
“Listen, boot. I know it’s rough. And you don’t deserve it. But you’re not whatever he says you are, okay?”
You sniffled, hastily wiping your eyes. “Yeah. I know.”
Tim nodded tersely. “Good.” There was a small moment, where Tim placed a hand on your shoulder, and you felt like things might actually be okay. Like you might actually have someone. Then, “Come on, boot. We’ve got six hours of shift left. You gonna focus now?”
---
Tim kept an eye on you the rest of the day. He’d known there was a bit of him in you, but the parallels between your childhoods made his heart crack.
He could see the countless untold stories behind your eyes, ones he’d undoubtedly heard before. And the way you’d tensed when he asked if you were hurt... you hadn’t been hit last night, but you had been before.
He really had tried to not get attached.
And look. He knew you looked up to him. He’d seen the way you preened at praise, the shaky look over to him after making a decision, waiting for his nod of approval, regardless of how confident you were in the decision. He’d tried not to encourage it – limiting praise, refusing to approve your decisions unless you did first. It wasn’t good for a rookie to get that attached to their TO, not when they were only partners for a year. It was especially not good for them to view them as some sort of parental figure. More importantly, Tim Bradford didn’t get attached to his boots.
But goddammit it. The look in your eyes when he’d told you about his dad? It made him abandon all the principles he thought he held so strongly. He’d always wanted a kid, after all.
---
“Does anyone know what day it is today?” Sergeant Grey asked from the front of the roll call room.
You groaned internally. Of course he had to announce it to the whole it room.
A few rows behind you, Officer Chen perked up, grinning, you were sure, at Bradford.
“The day Officer Y/l/n takes her six month exam.” She said.
Cheers and whistles filled the room and you almost buried your head in your hands.
“Boot!” Tim called out. You turned to look at him. “I’ll take it as a personal insult if you don’t get more than a 93 on this exam.”
Great. Like you weren’t stressed enough about the exam already. “Yes, sir.”
As Grey tried to calm the room down, you swallowed, focusing on calming your breathing. You knew what you were doing. You just had to not disappoint Tim. Not forget everything. Not be a total fucking failure.
No pressure, right?
---
Three days later, and you were back in roll call. Grey had written three numbers on the white board. An 84. A 91. And a 95. Your stomach dropped at the sight of the 91 and the 84. Of course you’d failed. Of course. Why hadn’t you worked harder? You’d been a straight A student in high school, and university, why was this different?
“Can anyone guess which of these belongs to Officer Y/l/n?” Grey asked the room. Various answers were shouted out, most leaning towards the 95, until Grey cut them off and said: “The 91. Good work, Officer.”
You could only nod, your head already pounding. You’d failed. Not really, not truly, but enough. And Tim. What would he do?
You didn’t notice everyone leave the room. Didn’t notice Tim approach you, not until he was practically having to shout in your face.
“Boot? Boot! Y/l/n!” The sound of your name, paired with Tim waving a hand in your face, snapped you back to reality.
“Yes, sir?” Your voice had an almost unnoticeable tension to it. A shake. Please, please don’t be mad.
“Let’s go, boot. Why aren’t you getting the war bags?” Tim asked, completely ignoring your test results.
Completely ignoring your test results? What? Why wasn’t he yelling, reaming you out for disappointing him? He’d been very clear with his expectations and he’d never been one to let you down gently if you did something wrong.
“Sir?” You asked, confused.
“What is it, boot?” Tim asked, exasperated. You should’ve been on the road by now. Wait, where you okay...? Your eyes were wide. Almost afraid.
“Why aren’t you mad?”
“What? Why would I be mad-..? Oh.” Tim looked down at you, his face softening as he recalled what he’d said before your test. What you’d told him about your past. “About your test? No, kid, I’m not mad. I was screwing with you when I said you needed to get a 93. A 91 is an excellent result, boot “
“Oh.” You said quietly, looking away sheepishly. Of course he wasn’t mad. This was Tim.
Tim looked at you like you were an idiot, but somehow, you didn’t feel stupid or insulted. “Yeah, oh. You’re not a disappointment, kid. Not to me. Now hurry up and get the war bags sorted.” Tim clapped you on the shoulder as he sent you on your way, and you couldn’t help but think that this was what a father was supposed to be like.
---
“Red or black?” You asked Tim during one shift a month or so later. It was a random question, but you wanted his opinion.
Tim glanced at you. “As concepts, or…?”
“As dress colours.” You elaborated, before hesitantly adding, “I have a date.”
The shop skidded to a stop. “Woah, woah. You have a date? When? With who?” Tim was turning instantly, all his attention on you.
You bit back a laugh. “Tonight. With a boy. Jacob. And I don’t know what to wear.”
Tim frowned. “Where did you meet this ‘Jacob?’” He couldn’t help the protective instinct. The last time one of his rookies went on a date, she got kidnapped. And you weren’t Lucy (he wasn’t in love with you) but he did… care.
“At a bookshop. Calm your farm, Bradford. It’s one date. You really pulling the protective dad card right now?” You smirked, watching the slight red colour Tim’s face.
“I- no. I’m not pulling a card, boot. I’m just… curious.” Tim spluttered, not wanting to admit that he was definitely acting like a protective dad.
“Uh huh. He’s a good guy, Sarge. He’s funny, and sweet, and I actually like him.” You said, as if the concept of actually liking a guy was foreign. It had admittedly been a while since you went on a date. “So, red or black?” You repeated, crossing your arms. Your cheeks were the tiniest bit pink.
Tim glared from the corner of his eye. “Black.”
“Thank you.”
In signature Bradford fashion, Tim huffed and simply said, “For the record, I still don’t like this whole ‘date’ thing, boot.”
---
The date was a success. So much of a success, in fact, that three dates later, Jacob came to pick you up after work the next day. It was adorable, and he showed up with fresh flowers and a planned date, and it would’ve been perfect, if you hadn’t been leaving the station with Officer Bradford.
The same Bradford who’d been demanding more information about “this Jacob person” ever since you’d first mentioned a date.
So, while you were excited about the date, you weren’t thrilled at seeing Jacob stand in front of you, levelled by one of Tim’s many practiced glares.
“Who are you?” Tim asked, crossing his arms. He knew exactly who he was.
“I’m Jacob…?” Your boyfriend said hesitantly, trying to figure out why the man in front of him was staring at him so intimidatingly.
You winced and jumped in quickly. “Jake, this is Tim. My TO?”
Recognition clicked quickly in Jacob’s eyes.  He instantly stuck out a hand to Tim, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Uh huh.” Tim raked his eyes over Jacobs outstretched hand, but didn’t shake it. “You got a last name, Jacob?”
“Anderson.” Jacob supplied immediately, lips twitching faintly in amusement.
“What do you do, Anderson? If you say screenwriter, you’re going in a cell.”
Jacob chuckled. “I’m a teacher, sir.” Tim didn’t look impressed, but he didn’t look totally disgusted either. Which, to you, was a win.
“Is this the part where you tell me not to hurt Y/n?” Jacob asked with a barely contained grin.
Tim glowered. “Yes. In fact, consider this your one and only warning. Hurt her, and I’ll find a way to make you spend the rest of your life in a cell.” Tim crossed his arms over his chest, and God you were glad he’d never given you that look before.
Pitying your partner, you jumped in and placed yourself between the two most important men in your life. “Oookay, Bradford, chill. We’re going to go now. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay, sir?”
“Uh-huh. See you tomorrow, Boot.” Tim’s words came out tense, and he didn’t take his eyes off you until you were well out of the carpark.
---
The day had arrived. You’d officially been a police officer for an entire year. You weren’t a rookie anymore.
It was everything you’d dreamed of it being.
“Finally, congratulations to Officer Y/l/n for completing the FTO program and surviving her rookie year. Welcome, officially, to the team, Y/l/n.” Grey walked over to you, shaking your hand proudly. “Good work, kid.”
“Thank you, sir.” You beamed, returning the handshake. Grey dismissed the rest of roll call, and you walked out of the room. You could barely make it a few steps without someone grabbing you, hugging you or congratulating you in some way. You’d never been happier.
You reached the edge of the room and were met with Sergeant Bradford, a rare smile on his face.
“Congratulations, Y/l/n.” He said, reaching out a hand.
“Don’t even try.” You said, knocking his hand out of the way and pulling him into a hug. It was unprofessional, you knew, but you couldn’t help it. Aside from your boyfriend, Tim had managed to become one of the most important people in your life over the past year.
Tim froze for a moment, but gently returned the hug, patting your back a couple times. You thought you heard Harper snicker from across the room. You definitely heard Lucy say the word ‘Dadford.’ She wasn’t… entirely wrong. You had found a father in Tim. Maybe one day he’d even admit it – in actual words, not just actions. You still laughed every time you thought about his interrogation of Jacob when they’d first met.
You pulled back and only then did you shake Tim’s hand. “Thank you, sir. For everything.”
Tim nodded, the smile lines by his eyes crinkling. “You’re welcome… Y/n. I’m proud of you, kid.”
You smiled softly and forced yourself to only say, “Have a good shift… Tim,” before hurrying away. But as you got into your shop (your shop, for the first time), you didn’t stop a few happy tears from falling.
---
You were nervous. It was your second time riding with Tim since graduating the FTO program and you were nervous. It had nothing to do with riding with Tim, however, and everything to do with what you were going to ask him.
“Tim?” You asked, hesitant.
“Yeah, Y/l/n?”
“I have to tell you something.” You fiddled with your left hand nervously, already missing the weight on your finger.
Instantly, Tim was softening and frowning, “Are you okay, kid?”
“Yes! Yeah, I’m okay.” This time you actually meant it. “I have news, though.”
“Oh?” Tim turned to you for a second, before looking back at the road. “What is it?”
You swallowed, and then, “Jacob asked me to marry him. I said yes.”
Tim had finally come around to Jacob a few months ago. Little did you know, but Jacob had actually asked Tim’s permission before proposing. You’d told him once about how you wished you had a father that you still spoke to, just for that reason. Jacob had known Tim was the next best thing.
Tim smiled widely, “Congratulations, Y/n. I’ll be expecting an invite to the wedding.”
“Actually, I wanted to ask you about that.” This was where the nervousness was coming in. You were pretty sure the butterflies in your stomach had reached your lungs too.
“What is it?” Tim tilted his head slightly.
“Will you walk me down the aisle?” Tim froze, shocked. You quickly rambled on, as you so often did when nervous, “You don’t have to, I just-.. I don’t talk to my bio dad, and you’re the closest thing I have to a father, and it would mean a lot to me, and-.”
“Relax, Y/l/n,” Tim cut you off with a smile. “I would be honoured to walk you down the aisle.”
The smile on your face then was the third biggest you’d ever smiled. The first had been when you’d graduated the FTO program, and the second when Jacob had proposed. But this… this was an entirely different feeling. This was the feeling of your whole life, finally working out. You had a career, a fiancé, and now, a father. A real one, who never insulted you or made you feel worthless.
What more could you ask for?

I don't mean to be a fear monger or anything, but in light of how quickly things are happening with this new administration, I highly urge anyone who knows that they don't want kids or are done having kids to get sterilized while you still can. Reproductive rights are absolutely on the chopping block with this administration, and birth control could become highly restricted or outright banned. And even if you're ace or your sexual orientation means you would never willingly have sex that could result in a pregnancy, rape is still very much a thing, especially if we go full Gilead.
The childfree subreddit has a massive directory organized by state of doctors who will give sterilization surgeries despite age or childfree status, and there are lots of people on there who would be happy to help you with the process of finding a doctor and answering questions about their experiences with the various types of sterilization surgeries there are (bisalp, hysterectomy, and vasectomy being the main ones).
I had a bisalp (removal of both fallopian tubes) done a few weeks ago, and the surgery itself and the recovery have been so easy, I really could not recommend it more. My insurance even paid for all of it because it is considered preventative care because removing the fallopian tubes greatly reduces your chances of developing ovarian cancer later in life, since it often starts in the tubes. So if you have any questions about that specific procedure, please feel free to ask me!
