This is a fun bit of consensual brainwashing, even if the tone isn't quite the way I tend to lean with brainwashing. The particular flavor of brainwashing in play leans just a little into what strikes me as humiliation (though obviously that's subjective), and I prefer to avoid that, personally. But even with that, it's just a hot story. If you like stories that lean into brainwashing and control and behavior modification, this is a good one for you. 9/10 spirals

Awww, romantic mind control is always so much fun. And this is so very romantic. Also plenty of heat, though it's a little too much "sex is the point" for my personal preferences. But seeing how our narrator melts into hypnosis, how aware of it he is and how well it works despite (or because of) that? it's right up my alley. There is a bit where a paragraph is mostly repeated a couple paragraphs later, and there's a reason that makes sense, but also it made me do a doubletake, and if you're the sort of person who's sensitive to stuff like that (and I know some folk are), be aware it does happen. 8/10 spirals

This one is interesting, but not quite ... it doesn't get me invested enough to suspend my disbelief. Maybe it's just 'cause art isn't my thing either - I agree with Michelle, a musical would have been better than this. But all the same, seeing the mental effects on Michelle as she examines the different paintings is good! I just can't see still visuals being *that* engaging, at least not to me. 7/10 spirals

I feel like a world in which Girls(tm) existed would be a world where the APA would have standards on using Girls(tm) in therapy. Unless the folk running the show at the APA (and other associations) got Girls(tm) pretty early... regardless. This is an interesting use of the Girls(tm) hypnosis skill, though ethically it's more than a little ... questionable. But hey, I assume the Girls(tm) do understand how pharmaceuticals work on humans, otherwise she wouldn't be talking about a prescription, I think? Even if it's the human psychologist who's officially writing the script.  It's a good story, just I get very distracted by the logistical concerns. 7/10 spirals

I recognize the story she was dreaming about! Even if she doesn't. And there's a fair bit to love in this story, though the serial recruitment twist at the end isn't my favourite. But if I ignore the last couple of paragraphs, it's a story I really can enjoy. Seeing someone so happy in their slavery that they can't imagine the end of The Silver Chair as a happy ending ... well, there's a number of hypnokinksters who I'm sure understand that approach. 9/10 spirals

I love Jukebox's superhero stories, and this one is no exception. Even if I'm over here being *extremely* ace and baffled by a sex dream being all that compelling, actually. Still, it's a lovely story, and I love how Madame Macabre manages to break out of Silas's power and save the day. 9/10 spirals

Well, that's one use for a botany degree, I suppose! I do wonder what the ice cream would taste like (ideally without the mind control effects, as I'm quite happy with my life as it stands :P ) but mostly this story just doesn't hit any of the things I look for in an MC story. Still, if you like science-as-magic, give it a read? 5/10 spirals

Huh. This is going ... somewhere. And I can't imagine it being a happy somewhere, either, but I suppose I just have to wait and see. Poor 4U, dealing with so many conflicting impulses, though. I do hope she gets some time to let her Master smooth those conflicting impulses and thoughts and believes out later - she sure needs it! Still, the plot remains the main draw of this series, and the sex portion is just kinda ... there. 7/10 spirals

This is a really cute scene that could be real - and folk new to the kink should absolutely read it for a sense of how it can go, even if both folk involved are inexperienced with hypnosis. Seriously, this is just good, solid hypnokink and absolutely adorable. 10/10 spirals

Ick, ick ick ick ick ick. I know we're actively supposed to dislike the Boys when compared to the Girls(tm), but this is *waaaay* too close to corrective rape for this ace gal, thanks. I'm not even going to try giving it a fair rating, because of that.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): General Bracket Match 33
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Smeemarm | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Midnight Horizon
Smeemarm was an employee of Crash Ongwa’s security company. Her job was to watch the tunnels under Coronet City during missions. During the entrapment mission against singer Crueefla as part of a wider scheme to discover Nihil operatives in Coronet City, she instructed Jedi Reath Silas through an earpiece. At the end of that mission, she flirted with Deemus Abrus, an inspector for the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts. She played a role in the rest of Crash’s operations in Midnight Horizon and fought in the battle of Corellia.
Caysin Bog/Tam Polsa | Identity: mlm couple | Media: Doctor Aphra comics
Caysin Bog and Tam Polsa are two background characters on Jedha in Rogue One (the latter not even making it into the final cut, but he was also in the background of Solo), but have been given a full story through the Visual Dictionary for the movie and the Doctor Aphra comic series. Tam Polsa was a member of the Milvayne Authority who went rogue to continue to pursue Corenlius Evazan and Ponda Boba, who were kidnapping people to turn into lobotomized cyborgs called decrainiated. Caysin Bog was one such victim, although the lobotomy didn’t take as much as most decrainiated. As Polsa pursued Evazan, he met Bog and the two fell in love, further motivating the former lawman. The two became bounty hunters to fund their search. They were both very legalist as bounty hunters, refusing to kill those who were neither criminals or someone they were being paid to kill. Polsa had a strong sense of justice, albeit restrained by the legal system. Although the lengths he had to go to tracking Evazan and the jobs he had to take recruited constant moral compromise and was sending him down the ‘self destructive noir detective’ path. Polsa was extremely dramatic in his speech, while Caysin showed no outward indications of his decraination effecting him cognitively.
They were hired anonymously by 0-0-0 and placed under the command of Doctor Aphra as part of a mercenary crew to retrieve a copy of his personality matrix. Said mission involved all the twists and schemes of a typical Doctor Aphra arc. Aphra reprogramed Caysin’s cybernetics with an override, which she used to make him walk into the fire of messed up Tarkin Initiative prototypes Polsa had previously refused to kill. Consumed by rage, Polsa slaughtered the prototypes. After the mission, he figured out that Aphra was the cause of his lover’s death, and swore vengeance on her as well.
Imprisoned in Accresker Jail with Doctor Evazan, Aphra called Polsa to break her out of jail in exchange for being able to kill Evazan. He helped save her from some fungus that thought it was a Jedi (long story), before taking a frozen Evazan- not killing Aphra but not bringing her with him anyway. When Evazan was unfrozen, he used a shapeshifting squid thing (long story) to convince Polsa he was a changeling Aphra used to trick him. He returned to Accresker Jail, where 0-0-0 killed him. However, he was intact enough for the fungi that thought it was a Jedi to revive him and create a force-sensitive organism that believed itself to be a manifestation of the Force’s desire for justice. He tracked Aphra back to his home planet, where 0-0-0 killed him for real.

(DN/PIA-OrMin)
