Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): General Bracket Match 35
SK-620 | Identity: non-binary (droid) | Media: Galactic Starcruiser
SK-620 is an astromech walk-around character in the ultimate LARPing experience sold as a luxury hotel known as the Galactic Starcruiser (set to be closed down). They are consistently referred to by cast members with they/them pronouns, although some merch (and most guests) use he/him pronouns. Secretly working for the Resistance, they are caught and captured by the First Order at the end of the first night. The main bulk of the Resistance mission during the second day, out in Galaxy’s Edge, for guests is finding things to help free SK from the restraining bolt, both because of the data they carry and for their own freedom. They are set free during the afternoon of the second day and hidden, making it the priority of the First Order to find them. Because of the improv aspect of the experience, specifics will vary. They’re a pretty standard good guy’s astromech, lacking the shear drive for chaos droids like R2 or Chopper have. If you’re a guest, you will packbond with it. So far, they’re the only non-binary character with merch.
Aytar | Identity: mlnb | Media: The High Republic Midnight Horizon
Aytar was a young acrobat for a traveling circus. He was so skilled it almost looked like he was Force sensitive. One day he met the Jedi padawan Kantam Sy when the circus visited the planet Endovar. Kantam became infatuated with Aytar, and the two began a whirlwind relationship. Kantam decided that they would leave the Order to be with Aytar, which was something the man wasn’t sure he wanted to happen. When Kantam did leave, Aytar felt terrible, not wanting the burden of Kantam having thrown away everything they ever known for him. Kantam realized they did this for themselves as they were confronted, allowing their whirlwind romance to continue. For a time, Kantam traveled with the circus, until one day they realized they wanted to explore the galaxy on their own terms.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 2): General Bracket Match 11
Kaeden Larte | Identity: queer | Media: Ahsoka novel
Kaeden Larte was a young farmer on the isolated moon of Raada. When she was fourteen her parents died in a farming accident and she was given special permission to take their job. She also became the guardian of her younger sister Miara. When Ahsoka arrived on Raada, Kaeden was quick to welcome her and developed a crush on her. When the Empire arrived, Kaeden joined a resistance cell. Their attack on the Imperial garrison failed, and Ahsoka to save them, was forced to reveal that she was a Jedi. Feeling betrayed that Ahsoka kept such a secret from her, she abandoned their hiding place in the caves and was captured by the Empire. They tortured her, but Ahsoka was able to rescue her. When Ahsoka left Raada to get help, Kaeden was captured again by the Sixth Brother to lure out Ahsoka. When Ahsoka rescued her again, she confessed her feelings, which Ahsoka gave a noncommittal answer to.
After Ahsoka’s battle with the Sixth Brother, the residents of Raada were welcomed to Alderaan. Kaeden eventually went to medical school and afterwards joined the Rebellion as a medic. If she ever reconnected with Ahsoka is unknown. She was present at the medal ceremony at the end of A New Hope.
The episode “Resolve” from Tales of the Jedi is based on the same episode concept as the Ahsoka novel, and thus has potentially retconned Kaeden and replaced her with a white man. However a reference book has attempted to establish the two as just coincidentally similar separate events. The identity “queer” is based off E K Johnston’s statements regarding what orientation she imagined Kaeden with.

Svi’no Atchapat | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Midnight Horizon
Svi’no was a member and the biggest star of the Atchapat family, a family of Correlian musicians who repopularized the local galan-kalank genre of music, which were labor songs composed to the sound of factory equipment (basically We All Lift Together from Warframe). She was a friend of Alys “Crash” Ongwa, but when Crash inherited her mother’s security company, she became too emotionally distant. Svi’no continued to hire them, including for staged stunts to increase her popularity. Despite such things, she didn’t let the fame go to her head and was kind to people she could interact with outside of her fame.
She ended up assisting Crash’s company and a group of Jedi padawans investigating the possibility of Nihil operations on Corellia and their infiltration of the government. This forced Crash to confront her feelings for Svi’no, and after Crash’s arc and decision to stop pushing people away, they were likely got together.

Reyé Hollis | Identity: mlm | Media: “Luke on the Bright Side”
Reyé Hollis was a Naboo Alliance Special Forces sergeant who worked with Luke Skywalker to help build Echo Base. At first he didn’t have a high opinion of Luke, seeing him as a dumb kid getting special treatment for being a “hero” and Jedi and the Force as worthless, due to their failure to prevent the rise of the Empire. Despite having a crush on Luke, he resented having to be his “babysitter”. When the two of them get lost in the tunnels of Echo Base, they have to work through their differences and come to understand each other's perspectives to get out. They also have to hold hands and connect to each other through the Force. After that…who knows.
An extra who appears in Empire Strikes Back was identified in Legends as Reyé Hollis. Sam Maggs says that she intended Reyé to be an extra that appears in the film, however his physical description in the short story doesn’t match the extra.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): General Bracket Match 33
Smeemarm | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Midnight Horizon
Smeemarm was an employee of Crash Ongwa’s security company. Her job was to watch the tunnels under Coronet City during missions. During the entrapment mission against singer Crueefla as part of a wider scheme to discover Nihil operatives in Coronet City, she instructed Jedi Reath Silas through an earpiece. At the end of that mission, she flirted with Deemus Abrus, an inspector for the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts. She played a role in the rest of Crash’s operations in Midnight Horizon and fought in the battle of Corellia.
Caysin Bog/Tam Polsa | Identity: mlm couple | Media: Doctor Aphra comics
Caysin Bog and Tam Polsa are two background characters on Jedha in Rogue One (the latter not even making it into the final cut, but he was also in the background of Solo), but have been given a full story through the Visual Dictionary for the movie and the Doctor Aphra comic series. Tam Polsa was a member of the Milvayne Authority who went rogue to continue to pursue Corenlius Evazan and Ponda Boba, who were kidnapping people to turn into lobotomized cyborgs called decrainiated. Caysin Bog was one such victim, although the lobotomy didn’t take as much as most decrainiated. As Polsa pursued Evazan, he met Bog and the two fell in love, further motivating the former lawman. The two became bounty hunters to fund their search. They were both very legalist as bounty hunters, refusing to kill those who were neither criminals or someone they were being paid to kill. Polsa had a strong sense of justice, albeit restrained by the legal system. Although the lengths he had to go to tracking Evazan and the jobs he had to take recruited constant moral compromise and was sending him down the ‘self destructive noir detective’ path. Polsa was extremely dramatic in his speech, while Caysin showed no outward indications of his decraination effecting him cognitively.
They were hired anonymously by 0-0-0 and placed under the command of Doctor Aphra as part of a mercenary crew to retrieve a copy of his personality matrix. Said mission involved all the twists and schemes of a typical Doctor Aphra arc. Aphra reprogramed Caysin’s cybernetics with an override, which she used to make him walk into the fire of messed up Tarkin Initiative prototypes Polsa had previously refused to kill. Consumed by rage, Polsa slaughtered the prototypes. After the mission, he figured out that Aphra was the cause of his lover’s death, and swore vengeance on her as well.
Imprisoned in Accresker Jail with Doctor Evazan, Aphra called Polsa to break her out of jail in exchange for being able to kill Evazan. He helped save her from some fungus that thought it was a Jedi (long story), before taking a frozen Evazan- not killing Aphra but not bringing her with him anyway. When Evazan was unfrozen, he used a shapeshifting squid thing (long story) to convince Polsa he was a changeling Aphra used to trick him. He returned to Accresker Jail, where 0-0-0 killed him. However, he was intact enough for the fungi that thought it was a Jedi to revive him and create a force-sensitive organism that believed itself to be a manifestation of the Force’s desire for justice. He tracked Aphra back to his home planet, where 0-0-0 killed him for real.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): New EU Overflow Round
Alys “Crash” Ongwa | Identity: wlw | Media: Midnight Horizon
Crash Ongwa was the head of a Corellian based personal security company. Only seventeen, she inherited the company from her retired mother and ran it well, with the employees as a found family. She was attracted to the music star Svi’no Atchapat, but only at the end of Midnight Horizon is she willing to be vulnerable enough to have a relationship with her. Crash assisted the Jedi investigating possible Nihil infiltration of Corellia. At the end of the book she realizes that the best way to help Corellia wasn’t to dispassionately protect its powerful, but to fight for the entire planet and hold the powerful accountable. Her rallying caused all of Corellia to fight against the Nihil attempting to take over their shipyards. Very skilled at social engineering, she is best described as “What if Nathan Ford from Leverage was a teenage lesbian?” If it wasn’t for out of universe norms, she would probably be an alcoholic at the start of the book.
Raz | Identity: nonbinary | Media: Jedi Survivor
Raz is a non-story bounty hunter boss fought in the Forest Array on Koboh. They are a bounty hunter droid. All that is known about them is contained in their database entry: “RZ-12 - ‘Raz’ - began their career as a bunker buster for a small insurgent cell on Ruusan, but when the coffers ran empty, Raz betrayed and collected bounties on several of their companions. Sorc Tormo used this as leverage to pull Raz into his employ.”

It is implied that they died during the Night of Sorrow.
Kho Phon Farrus | Identity: nonbinary/nblw | Media: Doctor Aphra Comics
Kho Phon Farrus is a non-binary archeologist specializing in the Ascendant and a university friend of Aphra. The Ascendant were a group of people living under the ancient Sith Empire who developed technology that mimicked Force sensitivity, their ultimate weapon being an AI/memory echo known as the Spark Ascendant. Their quest for the Spark Ascendent ended up with Aphra being possessed by the entity. Before joining Sana’s team to save Aphra, they were recruited by Qi’ra into the new Crimson Dawn to help her use a dark side artifact known as the Fermata Cage to trap Palpatine and Darth Vader in TIME PRISON.
Farrus has a flair for the dramatic and an obsession with the Ascendent, leading them to cosplay as a dark side adept using their artifacts. They have started a relationship with Detta Yao, but we still need to see how that goes.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 2): General Bracket Match 6
Kinni | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Convergence
Kinni was the eldest member of E’ronoh’s Thylefire Squadron, a squadron led by the heir to the planet Xiri Al’baran. She trained the younger members of the squadron such as Xiri, before retiring to become a mechanic. With the resumption of hostilities between Eiram and E’ronoh, she reenlisted as Thylefire Three. She is a pretty minor character in Convergence, but because she references a wife, she’s here.
Deemus Abrus | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Midnight Horizon
Deemus Abrus was the chief inspector of the Coronet City chapter of the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts, which somehow gave her law enforcement powers. She was involved in an entrapment scheme by Crash Ongwa’s security company where they provided the famous signer Crueefla a sapient Bonbrak to eat, as she had a history of eating endangered animals alive. Deemus arrived to arrest her right as she was about to do the deed.
A Twi’lek, Deemus was described as portly. While arresting Crueefla, she made sarcastic jabs at the singer. As she left, she flirted with Smeemarm. At the end of Midnight Horizon, she returns to pledge her help to Crash and her company to help them prevent Ovus, a city father who was helping the Nihil, from consolidating power over all of Corellia.
