@adcraball's burnet walked in slowly: She overworked again! Coming back late, she carefully opens the door, peeking in as she notices the lights are still on, just to sigh at the sight of her sweet husband and their child fallen asleep in front of the TV, the only sounds being the laughter coming from the show and th le soft snoring of the two.

It's sweet.

Softly, she brings Lei in her arms, giving her beloved a small kiss on the nose to wake him up tenderly before bringing the toddler to the crib, slow and silent to make sure his slumber won't be disturbed before returning to her sweetheart.

"Lau?" she calls in a whisper, bending over in front of him "Honey? I'm not carrying you to bed too, darling'

kukui doesn't notice movements in the apartment until burnet calls for him in a sweet whisper. he mumbles, struggling to open his eyes over the haze of sleep, his arm instinctually moving to hug lei a little tighter, just to feel nothing. he yawns, tiredly glancing at the crib and seeing her there, and smiling as his eyes return, lovingly, to his beloved so close to him.

« we fell asleep during the pikajoy funhouse marathon... shame. » he jokes in a low voice. « you've lost some great action, love. very emotional moments, what a masterpiece. »

he rubs his eyes, yawning again.

« but you do carry lei to bed... ». another tired joke, before a small realization hits him: it's dark outside. very dark. « wait, what time is it? » he mumbles, looking for the clock. « you overworked again? have you eaten something? there are some leftovers from our dinner... wait, i'll heat them up. »

kukui feels guilty for everything that has happened to guzma, since when they were kids. his guilt is so strong that he tends to not care about himself, and let guzma push him around, getting as far as to never report him to authorities and avoiding hospitals when he hurts him.

he also feels responsible for any trauma the mc has gone through, as he felt too powerless and cowardly to help the mc himself.

his parents have always insisted he moved from alola, but he has never accepted it. their relationship eventually worsened, and now he barely talks with them.

he has no ill feelings towards guzma, and even less towards his skulls: while being fearful anytime he happens to be near them, he never considers them at fault and, if they let him, is happy to help them.

[ @adcraball ! Burnet for the hubby ] Here comes a gift! It's a big kissy and a certified Ugly Mewmas Sweater, with WORLD'S #1 DAD written on it and a funny Delibird drawn right under it, all in red, green and white.

PRESENTS! he loves presents! christmas is the family holiday and yadda yadda yadda, he agrees, but presents surely makes it even better, a little bit.

especially when the first part of the present is a big, lovely kiss from the most perfect and beautiful woman in the world, a kiss he makes sure lasts as long as possible for the both of them to enjoy as much as they deserve. kisses are good and always and forever appreciated, haha.

the sweater not only comes next, but as the lab coat is thrown aside, it is put on IMMEDIATELY. saying he loves it is reductive, it makes him smile and laugh happily, despite he can already feel just how much he's going to sweat in it. wearing shirts is already rare for him, but a sweater? maybe the love of his life is secretly trying to torture him, actually. but who cares. he simply adores it!

and thus, it's only fair that he starts giving her his first of many, many presents, read as: a new, long, lovely kiss back, during which he also picks her up to spin with her, just a little bit. he's happy, let him enjoy his happiness in his own little silly way.

what would you consider the saddest part of your muse's life? ( for any muse you'd like )

( heheh, i want to talk about kukui for once. )

my version of kukui is... probably a bummer? maybe i’m just a bit too concerned or self conscious of just how much canon divergent i’m making him, but the happy go lucky façade you see on him for the entire game is, well, that. a façade. my kukui is very tormented all the time, feels guilty and coward every two seconds, is directly cause of at least part of the mc’s traumas they go through the game... he’s. not exactly the happiest character, for me.

so, the saddest part of his life, when everyday has a little bit of sadness to throw on him at least once per day?... i think it’s the part that started all of this. his guilt senses, him feeling a coward, his constant self-sabotaging, all of it. the day when his parents told him to stop seeing guzma, because they were afraid he would bring their son down with him, and he felt forced to turn his back to what was his best friend, gaining his hate for life. it wasn’t really his own decision, but he didn’t fight against it, even if he wanted to. because... they were his parents, he couldn’t argue with his parents, he couldn’t lie to them and make guzma’s position even worse! but does it matter?

he ran away that day, and nothing changes that fact.

oh, he could see she was exhausted from a mile away.   even when they got closer to each other for their usual hug, regardless of being in the middle of her workplace, she was moving much slower, much more weary than usual. she hasn’t been stopping for a moment in the past days, despite the worried words of everyone around her, and now...

feeling her weight on his arms as she suddenly goes limp makes his heart stop for a moment, his hold on her growing stronger to support her. he looks down, watching her visage with worry.   « h-hey, honey? h-honey! ».   no answer, but as the entire room falls silent, he can hear her silent, slow breath, and her heartbeat, regular on his arms. he lets out a deep sigh of relief. she fell asleep. nothing to worry about.

moving her carefully, he takes her legs and lifts her in his arms, moving her to the break room and gently placing her on the sofa there. halfway moving to get her a blanket, he stops to give her a soft caress through her hair.   « ... don’t scare me like that again, love... » he murmurs, with a smile of relief. he bends, leaving a gentle kiss on her cheek, before standing to get her that blanket.
