LMK SEASON 5

Now that Lego Monkie Kid Season 5 Trailer is out, here is my thoughts on it.

Some of you LMK fans are the worse I've seen on here.

Due to the amount of negativity the trailer got from the fans. It was bad to the point someone send a DM to the LEGO company and I heard someone try to do a petition to get Flying Bark back on the show.

As an Animator it is very disheartening to see your comments on it. I actually cried seeing the comments. Please give the new studio a chance. Wait until the episodes drop this summer, and then see if you guys will love it.

The new studio knows that LMK is a highly anticipated animation, hence the expectations were HIGH. Can you imagine the pressure being put on to them?

Just please enjoy the show. Despite it being a different Studio, it is STILL them. It is still MK, the Monkie Kid. It is still based on the Journey To The West.

Do not go and harassed, ESPECIALLY the Animators about how bad the trailer was. Please be kind to them. They have worked so hard on this for YOU. Be happy that there's even a GLIMPSE of S5.

So what happens when Andan actually succeeds in his goal in fighting essentially god? Whats the next step for him? Its ok if you haven't planned that far, I was just curious if you did have anything in mind! 👀

so this wouldn't have been on the blog itself and the adventures kia and andan went on in their quest to make papa eat shit would have been left largely up to people to think on but i did have an ending for that one as well:

in the end andan would have challenged pp god with kia, but kia throughout their journey would have been researching and developing a spell to help them win it against pp god since it was unlikely they'd be able to pull it off on their own.

except that the spell ends up taking kia's soul and all of his magic and transferring it to andan during the fight, ensuring the win, but erasing kia from the universe's timeline entirely. andan would be the only one who would remember him even if it's fleeting vague memories, and he would replace pp god as the universes god.

(ooc: Okay, Xillia relevant question and ramble under the cut. Under the cut because it's in middle of the story spoiler territory.)

Does anyone else feel like the whole conflict and resolution between Elize and Leia in Kanbalar feels just... off? Elize goes through a lot that puts her in a bad emotional state right before the party gets to Kanbalar. Teepo gets factory reset, Milla refuses to go after Exodus to try and get Teepo's old data back, Elize learns her parents are dead and that she was a part of a booster experiment research thing... and absolutely nobody in the party except for Leia tries to do anything to help her get through this.

The party also acts really surprised Pikachu faced when Elize is understandably upset and unwilling to talk to anyone after the fact. Like yeah, Elize lashing out at Leia when she's only trying to help make Elize feel better is bad. I will admit that. But at the same time, I feel like Elize's feelings are pretty warranted?? She feels really isolated and lonely during this part of the game because her best friend isn't acting like he did for the majority of the game up until this point. She just learned that he was a conduit to her power and that basically she controls how he acts with her subconscious. Anyone would be upset over that, I feel like, especially a lonely twelve year old girl who's been through some pretty bad stuff!

Yet it feels like nobody outside of Leia even tries to understand that perspective. Elize gets scolded for how she has Teepo say that Leia is holding everybody back, and then she runs off by herself. To Leia's credit, she does apologize to Elize and tries to show her that she understands where she's coming from. Elize doesn't forgive her, which... is fair enough, I still feel like she's got some right to be upset. But then Rowen just pushes her to see Leia's perspective and how Teepo hurt Leia? And she gets made to forgive Leia and apologize when she clearly wasn't fully ready to do that??

Worst yet, Milla never has to apologize to Elize when she basically made Elize feel worse about the whole Teepo thing before everybody got to Kanbalar. Milla never once has to try and reconcile with Elize over that. And that just doesn't sit right with me. Leia admittedly did nothing wrong in this situation, especially when she's the only one trying to help Elize, but the conflict seems to primarily revolve around Elize and Leia when I feel like it should have been around Elize and Milla.

I don't know. I've been thinking about this moment recently and it still just doesn't sit right with me after all this time. I love Xillia, I do. Just this one section of the game has never really sat right with me. I'm open to hearing other people's perspectives, though, so if you've got 'em feel free to leave them in the replies. Or DMs. Whichever. Maybe it's just a dub thing and the original Japanese dialogue is different?)

hi, as many of you know, we have a lot of cats... eight, actually. and last month was not the best for us. everyone is ALIVE but you know, one of them is an absolute dork who climbed into a tractor engine as they were working on it and got one hell of a concussion. (he's fine, he's missing a bit of his nose but he's happy and home and healthy and cattin' around!) and then the other, his sister actually, spit up her medicine a few days in a row without us noticing and had a 24hr seizure spree, and then stopped pooping. which, yanno, not great. but things are fine now, she's poopin and taking her meds and she's okay but you know, cats... are something.

There is a huge difference between writing taboo themes and gleefully romanticizing those themes. The fact that incest exists in asoaif is not a shield you can hide behind to write incest smut and ship siblings. I do not have any objections to mentions of incest or exploring how incest impact characters or functions as a theme in asoiaf. Clearly that is not a boundary that prevents me from engaging with the work. My boundary is when writers use the existence of those themes to fetishize and enjoy incest content then act snuggly superior that I do not want to engage in said content. I’m sorry I think that topics like incest require thoughtful, nuanced handling and prefer to be conscious of how these sensitive topics are approached.

Engaging with the source material accurately means acknowledging the damage incest, grooming, and the patriarchy does to characters and the overall narrative. Engaging with the material means understanding the themes GRRM is presenting you with to actively make you think critically about the world he’s created. If you read asoiaf and blindly accept the institutions and cultural norms presented as infallible and correct, then your reading is incomplete. If you think that accurately engaging with the source material means that you can write about incest with glee and revel in siblings railing each other, you’re the one missing the point. And frankly, I don’t care to be condescended to by people who can’t understand that the existence of a taboo topic in a work is not the same as license not think critically about said taboo.

Just wanted you to know I couldn't focus at work yesterday because I came across this blog when I should've been working and immediately got hooked into reading this blog from the beginning when I really needed to be working!!!
