-This AU primarily takes place within the Kirby gameverse (with a few superficial elements borrowed from external media), the timeline starting many, many decades before the events of Kirby's Dream Land, eventually catching up to and following the main games’ canon (with nods to side games and some unique events added here and there for character flavor). I am trying to stay canon-compliant, but I’m also making things up as I go and changing them as needed, so no promises I won’t just go completely off the rails the more I workshop things, haha.

-I'm leaving ages nebulous in this AU (both because the series itself doesn't really give characters canonical ages and to keep the timeline a bit looser narratively), but - for clarity's sake - we'll say Dedede and Meta are both the equivalent of 7-to-11 years old here, though they first met a little earlier...

-Meta Knight is just called Meta for now - he won’t earn his title until after he starts his overstars military training with the Galaxy Soldier Army (GSA) in his late teens.

-That hammer belongs to Dedede’s mama - a former pro-wrestler - and will someday be passed down to him (once he’s strong enough to actually pick it up).

-The Star Warriors/GSA inclusion in this AU (though crucial to Meta's storyline) is more for flavor than any major role. In this version, they are an intergalactic military group fighting various malignant forces across the universe, their reputation generally positive thanks to a genuine effort on their part to balance acts of war and defense with acts of philanthropy, relief aid, and compassion, well-known enough to reach even distant Popstar. Most known Star Warriors - Sir Dragato, Kit Cosmos, etc. - are either long since passed on or retired somewhere outside of the story (with a few exceptions we may learn about later...). Upon learning of the GSA in his youth, Meta becomes enamored with their deeds and longs to be a knight himself (not yet aware of the hardships involved in becoming one).

-The kids like to spar and roughouse in their free time, but they occasionally get proper training from Dedede’s papa - a retired knight himself with connections to the GSA, who’d settled in Dream Land with his wife just before they had their only son. Meta looks up to him with the same admiration he has for the Star Warriors. Dedede, however, doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with his well-meaning but rather strict father.

-In his early years, Meta is quite shy around people he doesn’t know well. In overwhelming situations, he tends to either shut down and go non-verbal or quietly slip away to recoup. That said, he is much more expressive around those he trusts, listening eagerly and chatting far more than he would otherwise. He also has a bit of an anger streak hidden just under all that resolve, though it takes a lot of prodding to bring it out...

-As a kid, Dedede is impulsive to a fault and likes to make wild plans that tend to put him and his buddies in precarious situations (when he can be bothered to actually follow through with them, that is). Meta is often the first to point out the flaws in said plans (if Para Dee doesn’t do it first) but inevitably ends up tagging along anyway, his wariness easily overturned by his curiosity.

-Meta is sometimes bullied by the bigger kids in the village due to his strange appearance and timid nature. Dedede is quick to step in and defend him, usually getting into scraps in the process. It will be a little while before either of them gain the respect of their peers…

Thank you for the ask! Sorry it took me a bit to answering. And sorry for the word vomit that follows--I realize I wrote a lot for these answers, but I don't want to shorten them.

✨Out of the comments you've received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites? Well, I just got one yesterday on my Avatar story Path of the Lost Men that went along the lines of "Do you enjoy emotionally torturing us?" and this made me laugh, but it is nice to know that my writing can have that effect on people. There was a comment in regards to my story "Taken" for OHSHC where they said something like "This is cool, but why are you telling it backwards, you already know how everything went down" and when I asked them if they knew what was going to happen in future chapters, they never responded, so I was like "Clearly, it wasn't open shut as you thought." One of the nicest comments I've ever gotten, to date, was back when I posted back on FF.net. This person left a long message saying how they had read all the other comments and there seemed to be this one negative nelly leaving bad reviews, but they thought my story was honestly very good and that I should continue writing and being awesome! That is not verbatim, but as a younger writer at the time, this really warmed my heart and made me feel better about my writing and myself in general. I saved the comment in my screen shots so I can look back on it when I feel down on myself. But in terms of comments, I always like the ones where people tell me how it made them feel, or how certain characters come across, or the accuracy of medical illness and or disabilities. These all tell me that I am doing a good job in my writing. 💕What is your favorite fic that you've written?

I don't know if I have a top favorite. There are several that I would label as a favorite. If I think back to the earliest stuff I wrote on ao3, "There For You" and "No Such Thing As Normal" for The Umbrella Academy fandom are still some of my favorites because I can still re read them and laugh at them. My Snowpiercer story titled "New Home" is my longest one shot to date, but I really enjoyed writing it too. And then I have my story "Taken" for the Ouran Highschool Host Club (OHSHC) fandom, which is still ongoing--this story came from a dream, it is dark but I enjoy it (And I really should update it....hehe....). Most of my Newsies stories I've also enjoyed writing. "A Sleepwalking Spider" for the Avatar fandom was fun to write. And with my current WIPs, I am enjoying "Path of the Lost Men" for the Avatar fandom (although the last chapter is giving me some issues) and some other Avatar related WIPs that have not been posted yet. There are other WIPs for different fandoms (Encanto and Total Drama Island) that I would label as favorites because I love the storyline/story idea) and I really should finish them so I can post them... 🎨If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see? Hmm...well, I would love to see a scene from my story "There For You" for TUA, where Klaus, Diego and Five are sitting outside a diner and Five ends up falling asleep after the adrenaline rush calms down and someone comes along to take their photo and then emails this to them. Or maybe one of the scenes in Path of the Lost Men, where Mansk is sitting with Lortireu, watching Ralu dancing, or the scene of Lyle at the end of the adoption ceremony where he is full on sobbing. Or either one of the scenes where they are visiting the other Recoms with the Tree of Souls--I get a lot of cool visuals with that when I think on it.

✨Back home after a walk, Levi looks into Hange's honey-brown eyes, runs his fingers tenderly through their messy hair & puts one of their locks behind their ear

✨Hange sits on the couch, exhausted by the walk. Levi goes to the kitchen to put the flowers they picked in a vase, then comes back with a cup of hot tea for them. He takes off their shoes & starts a foot massage for them to relax

✨After Levi's gone, Hange puts on the sweater he left on the armrest of their sofa. They wrap themself in his warmth & scent, because the evening's chilly & take their cat on their lap for a cuddling session

✨Later, remembering they won't see Levi before next week-end, Hange rushes to the fridge, grabs something inside, drags themself painfully to the couch & slumps in it ; they end up eating a whole chocolate chips & vanilla ice cream pot out of sadness

✨As Hange's going to bed, head down & dragging their feet, their phone rings : Levi wishes them good night in his deep & soft voice & tells them 'I love you Hange' before hanging up the phone. Hange's gonna sleep well & dream about him, that's for sure 💖

His heart seemed to be throbbing in his throat as he heard Hange’s voice coming from the corridor over the hubbub of the concert hall. He wondered what was wrong with him these days; he felt so oddly different. Something had changed and he didn’t know what.

No Name was becoming more and more famous within their high school and even outside. They already had several shows booked and they were playing their third tonight.

« Levi! You’re already there! » Hange and Mike finally entered the dressing-room, laughing like dorks as usual. He mumbled a vague hello, turning to them. Mike whispered a polite good evening and took his drumsticks, then joined his girlfriend in the corridor. « Still eating candy, Four-Eyes? You’re gonna get sick and stain your white shirt, tch… » Levi replied, wrinkling his nose in disapproval. Teasing him, Hange stepped forward and he felt her warm and sugary breath on his face. « You know I need that before going on stage! Calms me down, you see? And makes stage fright go away » she said in a bright smile.

Coming closer to him, licking a huge lollipop with an exaggeratedly greedy air, she offered « Want some, Shorty? » Levi froze. He was fascinated by her glistening lips covered with sugar. Blushing with embarrassment, he abruptly turned his gaze away. Mike stuck his head through the half-open door to tell them it was time to play, giving Levi the opportunity to recover. Hange put her lollipop aside for later and grabbed her guitar.

So far, their performance was amazing. The concert hall was crowded but they recognized their friends among the wild audience. Many were jumping, dancing and fangirls were shouting Levi’s or Hange’s names, making them smile back seductively.  Song after song, they were getting more confident and connected, and flirted playfully with the audience. But all good things coming to an end, it was time for the last song. They had decided beforehand to play Levi’s mother favourite song to close the gig.

Levi’s deep and soft voice begun to intone « She floats like a swan, grace on the water, lips like sugar, lips like sugar ». Enthralled, the fangirls shouted his name, but, called on by the word ‘sugar’, all he had in mind was Hange’s lips. He shook his head to let the vision go away…  Then the lyrics went « She’ll ask and you’ll give her » and Hange came by his side to get closer to add her voice to his. They both leaned to the mic, their faces so close to each other he could feel her breath on his face again and they sang the chorus together « Lips like sugar, sugar kisses »… Levi couldn’t help staring at Hange’s soft sugary lips and froze once again, mesmerized. The world blurred around him and nothing else remained except Hange’s fascinating lips moving as she sang.

It lasted a few confusing seconds, but it was enough for him to feel his heart beating faster and louder and his face violently blushing. He sang the song to the end as if he was in a dream, wrapped in cotton, removed from any sensations other than Hange’s presence near him, singing the chorus with him again and again. Suddenly, it was over and they waved the audience goodbye as they went off stage to get to the dressing-room, Levi still feeling dizzy and uncomfortable.

Sensing what was going on around him, Mike pretended to be thirsty and headed out towards the bar, leaving Levi and Hange alone. « You look so weird today, Levi! What’s wrong? » she asked, licking her lollipop again. « You want a hug or something?» she offered, coming closer, so close now he blushed and mumbled « I… the last song, it… ». But he couldn’t utter a word anymore. Staring at her lips, he imagined their sugary taste and how soft they should be against his own lips. « Levi, what are you looking at? » she said. He couldn’t wait longer and, putting his hand on Hange’s waist, pulled her into him, bringing his lips close to hers. She leaned towards him and they finally shared a soft kiss, sweet as honey. They both closed their eyes as for the first time they tasted each other’s lips. « Lips like sugar, sugar kisses ».

Books that I wish I could get my money back for

((Tbh it’s true, you’re better off 🏴‍☠️🦜⚓️ing and then buying if you actually like the book. That way you’ll save so much money and you won’t have the negative energy of bad books/authors you don’t like polluting your shelves. ))

So anyway, the books I’m thinking of decluttering are: (contains spoilers)

🌳🏹🐺ACO/TAR: the main characters have become unbearably arrogant and hypocritical. Also the covers are very bright and noticeable and I kind of hate that they’re the first thing you see on my bookshelf. Like do you think people will see the books on my shelf and just immediately discredit me and think I have bad taste? Idk. I also feel like I can’t take selfies in front of my shelf because the ✨faerie p0rn books✨ are just too recognisable.

The only characters I like will never be treated the way they deserve, and once the author puts the spotlight on them she will inevitably ruin them for us anyway lmao. It’s hard to go on with a series when you hate almost the entire main cast. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, fuck the inner circle.

🌑☀️🦴the gri/sha trilogy: squandered my dreams of a dark/light romance, terrible MC with no character development. I’m just saying, if it had been written a little differently we could have had an awesome villain/hero couple.

Also the ending trope of women giving up their autonomy/power needs to go. I don’t care if it’s what she ‘wanted’, it just shows how little development she got bc she is fundamentally unchanged at the end from how she was in the first chapter.

The oppression of the gri/sha continues and Ali/na washes her hands clean of her gri/sha identity so she doesn’t have to deal with the issues/mistreatment of the gri/sha anymore. Yay??? What was the point of her powers if she didn’t want them and the world remained fundamentally unchanged? No wonder the powers-that-be snatched those chosen-one sun powers back at the end. ((I’m keeping six of crows though))

💀🐍kingdom of the w/icked: wtf even was this. The ‘prince of hell’ literally had no personality whatsoever. For a literal demon prince, he had the personality of a piece of cardboard. MC was also a useless dumbass and had no chemistry. The fanart is lying guys, this book is trash. The ‘big reveal’ sucked and was super underwhelming too. Crappy ending. ‘Demon prince’ my ass. He was a watered down generic YA ‘bad boy’.

📚🧪poi/son study: super let down by this one. Good start but sort of sharted itself out along the way. Love interest was lowkey spineless and boring, MC had no personality outside of being a victim of abuse.

I really hated that the love interest was such a damn bootlicker. He was powerful and all that, but you can’t just make a character powerful, y’know? Like make us believe it. He was so far up the dictator’s ass, even at the end. His love confession made me feel nothing too🤷‍♀️ And that’s how I know a romance flopped for me. If I’m just like ‘k.’ at the big moment then the author fucked up

The world/setting was also really weird and vague. It was like a dystopian fantasy historical dictatorship? It’s very vague and lacks a clear identity. It felt like a bunch of half-formed ideas slapped together. And mind control chocolate? Really? That was the best thing the author could come up with?

🦷🦴and daughter of sm/oke and b/one: awesome concept, terrible execution. The romance was very ‘twi/light’ (romance is just them constantly gawking at and mooning over each other) but with none of the nostalgic charm that twi/light has. I also wasn’t a fan of the reincarnated lover trope, hated the flashbacks, and yeah. I just wasn’t invested in the romance, which was such a shame. The chimera and magic were cool but not enough to carry such a crappy romance and lame recycle-a-bitch trope.

Also her human life and friends were very cringey and pretentious. The author tried wayyy too hard to make them hip and funny imo

And last but also the one I’m most unsure about:

🪞📚Mem/ory of Babel and The Storm of Echo/es (last two books in the mirror visitor quartet):

It would be really weird to dump half the series and have an incomplete set. But I was so let down by the last two instalments (especially the last one tbh), and they are so tonally different and had such a dramatic dip in quality that it was like they were from a different series. The supporting cast and awesome setting/atmosphere? Gone. Poof. Here’s 500 pages of repetitive, whack-ass pseudo-science explanations that the author pulled out of her ass as she wrote it.

The issue here is that I was an IDIOT that loved the first two books and trusted Dabos enough that I bought the hardcovers. So I can’t just throw them away but I also hate looking at the last two books. I don’t think I’ll feel bad having an incomplete series because as far as I’m concerned it ended with Clairdelune anyway. The endings are identical (SPOILER A cliffhanger ending with Thorn and Ophelia separated) We have to imagine our own ending either way so it’s not even fundamentally different🧍‍♀️
