BLACKBERRY (2023) Grade: B-
Entertaining& informative. Matt Johnson, who also directs, has some good scene stealing moments. Good to see a movie about main characters that fail spectacularly.

" The fey are magical, capricious, illogical, and unexplainable. "
𝖎𝖓𝖙𝖗𝖔𝖉𝖚𝖈𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖆𝖒𝖇𝖗𝖔𝖘𝖊, 𝖚𝖓𝖘𝖊𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖊 𝖈𝖗𝖔𝖜𝖓 𝖕𝖗𝖎𝖓𝖈𝖊 . . .
inspired by tinkerbell's secret of the wings && the iron fey series by julie kagawa. an exclusive pair with @storybooklcve's ariella dawn.
. . . . you knew there was a home for out there somewhere. it never felt like yours in the pillars of ice. love is an unknown touch until fingers grasp your own. an unwilling throne, a crown thrown with sweaty, empty hands - the heart will never ache the way it does for the pirouettes of summer . . . .
as the eldest of three, pressure was not uncommon for the young fae prince as he grew up in the winter woods, where the home of the unseelie royalty were kept apart from the rest. queen mab, mother && ruler of the realm, was not known for her kindness; but rather, her fearsome nature and wild antics. she had come to the throne young - and her mistakes along the way had caused the unseelie court to suffer even beyond her walls of steely ice.
from birth, he had been betrothed. queen titania of the seelie court had, mysteriously, become pregnant at the same time as the young queen mab - creating the most fitting opportunity to create a treaty of (hopefully) lasting peace between kingdoms. one unseelie prince for a seelie princess. with true love out of the question for ambrose; he found his sense of purpose in other ways. he tried not to think of how he'd never met his bride-to-be... or how, they would always live apart; how if he dared cross too far into her world or she into his, then harm would befall their wings.
the brothers were inseparable - as the fae of their court && from the summer realm were assigned talents && duties, it was them who took on the role of repairing their mother's mistakes. for ambrose, he shied away from the spotlight, taking to quieter hobbies and tending to his meticulous collections. with tensions low between the courts, morale between the realms was at an all-time high, and it was not uncommon for unseelie && seelie alike to intermingle, and grow bonds together.
of course - not for ambrose, this was forbidden. queen mab still hated the seelie queen, despite the peace treaty, forbidding any of her sons to interact beyond the line beyond absolute necessary. an odd rule to give someone betrothed into the summer royal family, but it made for an easier time to avoid the knowledge of his doomed betrothal. until... someone made it impossible to ignore.
in the end, it was a summer fairy after all that caught ambrose's attention; but she was not of royal blood, no, simply a performer with dance moves that could mesmerize even the coldest souls. he'd had no choice but to pursue her, falling further in love than he ever thought possible. like her name, ariella was the dawn - sun, stars, moon, and more.
but queen mab found out. in order to protect the secret, and end the affair quickly, she ordered him not to see the summer dancer again. it became harder to see ariella, but ambrose never gave up. he would grow more && more daring with his attempts to extend their time, increase it's frequency... pressing the boundaries between sensible && safe until he flew too close to the sun. wings of frost had cracked, leaving his right wing torn and fragile.
for a time, ambrose managed to hide the injury. he thought, perhaps, it would heal - with rest, with ice, with pixie dust. when no improvements were made, and the damaged parts of the wing began to chip off like thawing ice, ambrose knew he had to accept his new reality. with a torn wing, he would never fly again. when he refused to tell his mother what had happened, queen mab's hatred clouded her judgment, and she assumed that the seelie court had broken the treaty of peace.
a wall of ice, unbreakable && thick, was erected between the realms, and a new law was ordered to all. no one crosses the border. no one goes in... and no one goes out. the betrothal broken, ambrose finally had everything he'd dreamed of; the freedom to love who he chose, and roam without pressure to return. without wings, he was useless as a warrior or an icon of power, especially until it was his turn to rule. queen mab cared little about what he did now, as long as it stayed within the unseelie realm, and he caused no further harm.
but without ariella, it was empty && unsatisfying. taking to the workshops, ambrose devised a new purpose. he would find a way to break his mother's ice - and to make living in both worlds possible, once and for all.
“ The faery lords are immortal. Those who have songs ballads and stories written about them never die. "

Could you recommend a biography of Eisenhower please?
There are so many great books of Eisenhower that I'm going to recommend a few of them:
•Eisenhower by Geoffrey Perret (BOOK | KINDLE) Published in 1999, this is one of the best single-volume biographies of Eisenhower, in my opinion.
•Eisenhower in War and Peace by Jean Edward Smith (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) This book is a vast, extensively researched look at all aspects of Eisenhower's fascinating life. It's about as complete of a biography of someone like Eisenhower that could possibly fit in one volume and was published relatively recently (2012).
•Eisenhower, Volume I: Soldier, General of the Army, President-Elect, 1890-1952 by Stephen E. Ambrose (BOOK | KINDLE) •Eisenhower, Volume II: The President by Stephen E. Ambrose (BOOK | KINDLE) This two-volume biography of Eisenhower by legendary historian Stephen E. Ambrose is probably the best-known study of Eisenhower's life. If you're not looking to invest the time that it takes to get through these two big volumes, there is an abridged, single-volume edition of Ambrose's book: Eisenhower: Soldier and President: The Renowned One-Volume Life (BOOK | KINDLE).
•Eisenhower: The White House Years by Jim Newton (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) This is probably the best book focusing solely on Eisenhower's eight years as President. Anyone who wants to know Eisenhower's story almost certainly wants one of the full-fledged biographies covering his military career, but this is a good read for anyone who wants a deep dive on his Presidency.
•Going Home to Glory: A Memoir of Life With Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1961-1969 by David Eisenhower with Julie Nixon Eisenhower (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) Again, this is not a full-fledged biography covering Eisenhower's entire life, but it is a tremendously interesting, intimate, and deeply personal focus on Eisenhower's last years, from the time he left the White House until his death in 1969. What really makes this book different is that it's written by Eisenhower's grandson, David, who spent a lot of time with the former President when he left office and retired to his farm in Gettysburg. David Eisenhower (who is the namesake of Camp David, the Presidential retreat in Maryland) is able to give readers a unique look at this giant of the 20th Century, the former Supreme Allied Commander who helped defeat the Nazis and win World War II before becoming President and is all of those remarkable things but also a grandpa. The book is also notable because it's written with David Eisenhower's wife, who just happens to be the daughter of Eisenhower's Vice President and a future President in his own right, Richard Nixon.

{ henry golding, cismale, he/him } Is that AMBROSE JOW? I heard the THIRTY EIGHT year old is a CO-LEADER of the THE NETWORK. I’d stay away from them if I were you. I heard they were EMBITTERED, but they can also be RESOURCEFUL, so proceed at your own risk.

TLDR
ambrose is the son of one of the co-founders of the network, but he grew up seperated from that lifestyle until he was eighteen and moved to la to be mentored by his father.
he was always quite the playboy type, doing unofficial business for his family and attempting to earn his father's respect. he is desperate for respect from anyone tbh.
four years ago, he came into power, co-leading the network after his father stepped down. this was no easy feat, and required ambrose to act quite brutally in killing his older brother. this is NOT common knowledge.
in general, ambrose is meticulous and ambitious and quite cold to most people. he's obsessive and loves to flex his power, and is still ironing out the kinks about what direction he wants to lead the network towards.

— was that karam (corban) yaxley passing through diagon alley? those close to them say they remind them of cigarettes and black coffee for breakfast, perfectly polished wingtip oxfords you swear you can see a reflection in, a broken gold pocket watch — a token family heirloom always on his person, black smoke streaking a pale dusky sky, icy blue eyes watching and analyzing your every move, hair so white and blinding you recognize it across a crowded room, blood stained lips stretched into garish smiles, a cunning and devious wit hidden behind good looks charm and sophistication, which i suppose seems to fit that slytherin alumnus. they’re actually pretty haughty, blunt, and insincere for a twenty eight year old, but i wonder if it serves them well when working as an undersecretary to the head of the department of international magical co-operation at the ministry. rumor has it that the pureblood is aligning with the death eaters now. i wouldn’t have guessed… but this is a conversation we should be having somewhere else.
GENERAL
FULL NAME: Karam Corban Yaxley NICKNAME(S): Corban or Yaxley by most, Junior by his father, Karam/Kam by close family and friends AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: 28, c. 1950 GENDER: Cisman PRONOUNS: He/Him HOMETOWN: Upper Flagley, Yorkshire, United Kingdom BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood HOUSE: Slytherin ALIGNMENT: Death Eaters
BIOGRAPHY
Triggers: Death, Blood Supremacy, Child Abandonment, Child Abuse
You may be naive to believe that the first day of his life began at birth, but that was not quite the case. Karam Corban Yaxley’s life began in 1974, when dressed from head to toe in the finest black suit money could buy, he stood above the casket housing his cousin Emrys Yaxley. Dearly departed. As winter blue eyes took in the scene, a great and powerful family mourning the loss of a life taken far too soon, what the young man remembered most was the steel-like grip of his father’s thin hand on his shoulder, and his sour breath on his cheek as Corban Yaxley Snr whispered, “Now it is our time, boy. Now you can finally rise to the greatness I always envisioned for you.” And it would be. As the grief swept through eldest son Ambrose Yaxley’s home, his younger, and often forgotten, brother, Corban Snr, had made plans. Under the guise of a loving and tender relative, he seized the Yaxley family seat in the Wizengamot, appointing himself as the political patriarch of the family. He then used his new influence to take his son, at the time just a lowly investigator in the Improper Use of Magic Office, and elevated him to be an Undersecretary to the Head of the Department of International Magical Co-Operation. The first step in the elder Yaxley’s carefully curated plan to set his eldest son on a path of greatness. He bought the young man a position of power, waging both coin and parliament support in exchange for ensuring his son would hold a lucrative title. “Doors will open,” he said. “And it’s only a matter of what you do when they do. The sky is the limit — this is just the start for you, Junior.”
In the twenty four years that preceded that grim and dreary day, Karam Corban Yaxley had been for the most part a normal boy. At least, as far as normal pureblood boys were concerned. Born into a lap of opulent luxury and with a silver spoon nestled between pouty lips, Corban, as he was most widely known, was the eldest son to the second son in a wealthy Pureblood wixen family — the kind with an undisputed and detailed lineage, proud enough to be considered among the Sacred Twenty Eight of pure wizarding families. For all his life, he wanted for nothing; a spoiled little prince that his parents doted relentlessly over. For a moment, he felt like the heir presumptive after all — his uncle Ambrose, the head of the family as birth order dictated, hadn’t had children yet, with Corban Snr practically racing to the alter with a Lebanese witch he didn’t know well aside from her impeccably pure lineage. So his father instilled in him an inflated sense of self importance. When Winifred came a few years later, and became the actual heir, she was saved somewhat from being his natural enemy on the virtue of being born a girl, and therefore being “unimportant” in his father’s misogynistic gaze. But Corban Snr’s “victory” would be short lived when just two years later Ambrose and his wife Elizabeth welcomed Emrys into the world.
The birth of Emrys, 6 years Corban’s junior and now the next in line to be head of the proud Yaxley family, seemed to be a herald of dark times for Corban Snr’s Scion. Just 8 months later, his wife Khadija had given birth to a second child, another son she named Amir, after her own father. And nobody loved Amir more than his older brother, who he would refer to as Karam while the rest of the world called him by their father’s name. While their father’s insolent sibling rivalry with their uncle often times isolated them from their cousins, the brothers had been extremely close, being each other’s only confidants and close friends for much of their youth. Amir was so beloved, given a special place in their father’s heart by having the same misfortune of being a second, and therefore less advantageous, son, his warm and sunny presence almost made up for how swiftly they became second rate on the family tree as Ambrose’s family continued to grow and flourish. Even as the births of sisters followed Amir’s entrance into the family, they all found a deep love for the second son. And it seemed that nothing could ruin the bliss the family had found as the children began to grow into their individual, unique personalities.
That was until the first signs came up.
Corban Jnr had always been gifted — curious, fiercely intelligent, and with a great natural inclination towards magic — it was clear from a young age he would grow up to be a great wizard. Amir in this regard seemed less promising, but their parents had chalked it up to being a late bloomer. Khadija swore a relation of hers took a while to show signs of magic, but that it had shown just in time for their first year at wizardry school. Amir would follow suit. Corban Snr’s patience ran thin, and as the boy was getting closer to his teens he felt compelled to bring in healers and experts and finally ordered a magical competency assessment. The results were damning, the darkest spot in the family’s history. A Squib. The second Yaxley boy had been born a Squib, with no potential towards magic.
At the time of this revelation, Corban the younger had been away at Hogwarts, a proud Slytherin student well into his third year. He had made the Quidditch team, they were doing great in the House Cup and he even better in classes, he was eager to come home for the holidays and tell his little brother all about the wonderful year he’d been having. But when he got home for Yule, taking the spiral staircase two steps at a time until he was pushing into Amir’s bedroom, he was shocked to not find his brother in his messy childhood room, but instead to see his mother seated at an easel, paint stained apron on as she lazily brushed colors upon a canvas. Not his brother’s room, but her new studio. “Where is Amir?” He had asked, and his mother had only given him an unreadable glance before stepping from her stool and crossing the room. The slap echoed through the airy hallways of the family manor, Nocturne Hall, leaving a stinging red imprint upon his cheek. “Don’t you ever say that name again,” was the only response he had been given, no proper explanation until later when he would find the test results in his father’s study. Amir was sent away shortly after, before Corban came home from school, to live with distant relatives of his mother’s in her homeland. Never to be seen again.
The reveal of a Squib among the family was a fact that had tarnished the family image, meaning for several years the Yaxleys had to do their best to hush all rumors as to what happened to the second son, and to bury him to the point where people had almost forgotten there had been a second son to begin with. Almost. While other families seemed to humor the Yaxleys by not acknowledging the blemish on their family tree, it didn’t mean they hadn’t still gossiped about it behind the family’s back. The whole situation changed a lot of the dynamics within the house. Where there once was endless love had been replaced with cold blistering hatred. Their father blamed their mother for the situation, blamed it on her frailty and lack of strength of character. She blamed it on him, claiming his cruel heart had planted a crueler seed in his genetics. The fighting drove them to separate bedrooms in separate wings, fracturing the family. Corban now bore the weight of a broken home, and decided then to do his best to make things easier for his sisters who were too young to understand what was happening.
Corban changed drastically upon returning to Hogwarts. After his third year, he quit the quidditch team, despite his talent on the broom, and withdrew to the library where he threw himself into his academic pursuits. If he would not have power afforded to him by being the eldest Yaxley of his generation, he would earn it and create a safe environment for his sisters. He’d leave Hogwarts in a few years with perfect marks, a lucrative internship at the ministry, and a reputation for being the best of the brightest wixen in his class. And he’d get his own home and take his sisters there, so they didn’t have to witness their parents’ marriage breaking apart.
He had done exactly what he said he would — as intelligent as he was charismatic, Corban Yaxley had excelled in academics, had a robust social life, and earned a reputation for being among the smartest of his year. He had even been assigned Head Boy his final year, and his professors were all too eager to write letters of recommendation for any job he planned to apply for after graduation. A close bond with Professor Slughorn, being a member of his exclusive Slug Club, had earned him a letter of recommendation which went straight to the then Head of the Improper Use of Magic Office, who had taken Corban in as an intern in the office before eventually giving him a post as an investigator. The job wasn’t much, mostly desk work and the occasional field excursion to confront and bring in underage wix or those rare occasions where an adult was attempting to expose their kind to the muggles. But it was good work, one he earned for himself. And it had been going well… Until the news came.
The funeral had come and gone in a haze, his father’s careful plans following quickly after. Within a year from his cousin’s death, Corban had packed up his desk at the Improper Use of Magic Office and traded it for a private office — just off to the side of the one held by the Head of the Department of International Magical Co-Operation. “Let’s make some foreign friends, Mr. Undersecretary,” they had said when on the other hand of Corban’s firm handshake. Undersecretary. Undersecretary Yaxley. It had a nice ring to it. Almost immediately things had changed at home. His parents were no longer at one another’s throats, their imagined transgressions forgiven if only to redirect their energy into the immense pride they had for their adult son and his fancy new title. Nocturne Hall had been alight again with that joy and happiness that had been missing for several years now. With the elder Yaxley holding a seat in the Wizengamot and the younger Corban in his lucrative position, the family morphed quickly into the perfect, sophisticated political dynasty it has become known as.
Personable and charismatic, the Yaxley men made themselves known in all corners of the Ministry, not just the chambers they served. Corban in particular was known for never forgetting a name or a face, always saying hello with his firm handshake, pearly white teeth smiles, disarming icy blue eyes and warm laugh. He never forgot a birthday and always had a well picked gift on hand, constantly paying for lunch or covering a round of drinks at the pub for his colleagues. If a coworker brought up their Hogwarts bound child had made the quidditch team, then the next day he arrived with the latest broom model, decked out with a black velvet bow and the student’s name engraved on the handle. Or if someone made a comment about always wanting a pet, this comment was almost always followed by being gifted with a cruppy from the latest litter of the Yaxley family’s beloved show crups.
And then there were the parties — the lavish cocktail hours or five course dinners at Nocturne Hall, dotted with the who of who in the Ministry and some of the nobodies who had been lucky enough to secure an invite. Parties where the irritably charming Yaxleys showed off their world renown kitchen staff, and their impeccable English countryside manor house. Where they hired the best musicians for private concerts, acting troupes to debut operas ahead of their theater opening dates, exotic entertainment from across Europe and Asia showcasing never before seen talents. These parties were so extravagant and opulent, so full of magnificent displays, most hadn’t even noticed the lack of muggleborn colleagues in attendance. It was all a ploy, networking, the Yaxleys extending their influence and power by making friends in all circles of the Ministry, of the Wixen Community. Anyone who could be useful would be there, their friendship being bought with bold displays of wealth, to be put in the back pocket until they were needed.
With a hunger for power and a drive for excellence, it’s of little surprise to those in the know that Corban Yaxley has found himself seduced by the Death Eater cause. After what had happened to his brother, Corban spent extra hours every night pouring into a fruitless study on Squibs and what had lead to the lack of magic in even a proud lineage such as his own. He could never forget Amir the way his parents wanted — he had loved his brother more than anything in his life, and when he was able to find the exact address to where his parents had sent him, he even began writing to his brother in secret. Sending what little money he could scrape off the top of his inheritance and wages to ensure his brother had a comfortable life. More than that, he wanted to find a cure — to find a way to restore the magic that belonged in Amir and to bring his brother home. When he first heard the propaganda, about the muggleborns who had no magical lineage and yet used magic freely, how they stole magic from true wixen such as himself, he grew angry. The reason his dearest brother was the way he was, after years of research bringing nothing up, was surely because of the mudbloods, the thieves who did not deserve the magic they wielded. It rooted a hatred within him, which inevitably lead him to join the ranks of the Death Eaters, alongside his uncle and some of his extended family. He fervently believes in the Dark Lord’s cause, would put down his life for it, but has found himself mildly restricted.
While his father shared the values of the group, he fears radicalism and how it can affect the dynasty they are building together. He would rather Corban spend his nights schmoozing those currently in power, than working with a fanatical organization. He doesn’t want Corban to show biases in public or at work, to threaten what they have. For his father’s sake, Corban remains unmarked, and has instead offered his political position and skills to the Dark Lord, to be used in whatever way he fancies. He continues to grow his connections within the government, hoping to someday serve the Ministry to his Lord on a lovely silver platter. He is still willing to pull his wand out in the Dark Lord’s name, to do what will be needed of him to further the cause. But for now he is comfortable where he is — in his cushy job bought by his father, with his surface level friendships and shallow connections across the Ministry, and his influence ever growing. Who would complain, when it feels like they’re only a few steps away from being at the top of the world?

I’ve been reading a biography of St. Augustine and I’m really struck by the lack of oversight on his philosophical and religious “conversions” and epiphanies. Of course he questioned a lot but in the end it seems that he came to a lot of conclusions on his own which otherwise would have been “corrected” (as Ambrose later would do)—and in the end he became an important philosopher and theologian. I suppose the lesson is not to rely so much on authority. But for a person so obsessed with books (like myself), my immediate reaction to a question about the nature of the soul or the universe would be to read on it, rather than to go down some winding philosophical path that leads to some wild ecstasy in a garden. But then again, times change, I suppose.

normally the biography on Theodosius costing $50 (making it out of my price range for something that’s currently a casual curiosity) and not available through other means would have me go ‘alright! We’re done here, back to Valens!’ however the Subleyras painting with Theodosius and Ambrose has me feeling some kind of way and what is usually an insurmountable obstacle is like. nbd. improvise, adapt, overcome. I will simply have to eat Theodosius.
#I do want to read that biography tho#the title fucks but I will mark it down for something to look into later in the year#it’s Theodosius and the Limits of Empire btw#I’m definitely going to mark it down for something to try and purchase later this year if it shows up on a used book site or a sale

hello! :) i'm working on a bob fanfiction right now, and i wanted to know if you had any tips for aspiring bob fanfic writers (or if you had talked about this before?) i'm especially curious what you have to say about balancing the historical accuracy of the story vs deviations from history, as well as how to weave an oc into the original plot of the show while still keeping the content fresh and (somewhat) original
oh! and also how you go about doing your research (if you do any)
your writing is a huge inspiration to me, so thanks so much!! i hope you have a good day :D
Hi Anon! I answered something similar here if you want to check that out
Aside from just going for it and having fun with it, I do have some thoughts (everybody act shocked), but I'll try to keep it concise 🤗
Balancing historical accuracy with fiction
First and foremost, I feel like it's helpful to point out that Stephen Ambrose made some mistakes in BOB. Not trying to disparage his name or anything, just to be clear! Several of the men (Speirs, Shifty) pointed out mistakes he made about them in the book.
Why am I mentioning this? Because I'm a historian and I'm annoying about it lol Because the historical narrative we're drawing our inspiration for fics from isn't a narrative that everyone agrees on -- then again, good luck finding one that people do, but I digress -- I think it gives some wiggle room for bending the story a bit to make it work for the narrative that we as writers are trying to create
Similarly, I feel like it's important to invoke the disclaimer that many of us put on our fics: these stories about fictional representations from a show (though it is based on real people and events)
In the end, we're all taking liberties with the narrative for the sake of our writing. Most people in the fandom probably won't bite your head off if you use plotlines that are alternate histories because most of us are doing them, too -- and a lot of writers here have some very cool ideas and plots with alternate histories that are really good reads!
At the end of the day, don't feel pressured to stick directly to the historical narrative. After all, we're writers -- having imagination is what we do
Weaving an OC into a well-known narrative
Oh boy. I'm not sure if there's a great way to answer this. Personally, I knew who my OC was, what her background, wants desires, etc. were, and then I just sort of . . . set her free into the story? There are moments directly from the show where I wove her in and made her a part of that scene, and then there are interactions and plotlines that I came up with myself.
Honestly, it probably depends on your plot and your character. No one really wants to read a re-write of BOB -- after all, that's why we're all out here writing fics with our own ideas and stories. However, if you feel that a certain scene would further your plot/advance your character, and that you can weave them into it, then go for it! It's all about how you write and what feels right to you for your story.

Have I abused some of my historian privileges during my time in this fandom? Perhaps 👀 But if you don't have university archival access, never fear! There are still lots of good ways to research
In terms of background, I found that reading the memoirs and biographies of the Easy Company men was really helpful when figuring out how to write them. It was also good for learning stories and experiences that did not make it into BOB. Watching interviews with them on YouTube and watching interviews with the actors was also extremely helpful for things like speech cadence, mannerisms, etc.
Definitely branch out, though! I was lucky in that I had to do some projects about WW2 around the time that I joined the fandom, so researching different aspects of the period was helpful for me when I started writing. Don't feel like you have to rush out and read every WW2 book or watch every documentary, but it can definitely help with learning different perspectives and experiences, as well as providing context.
If you ever want book recommendations, feel free to reach out! Especially if you need book recs about paratroopers in general, because I have a whole shelf space dedicated to those haha
Lastly, thank you so much for the lovely compliment, Anon -- and thank you for trusting me enough to reach out! 🥹 Feel free to reach out if you ever want to chat, and I look forward to reading what you write in the future 💕
(Other BOB writers feel free to add on!)
#'just go for it' I sound like the Nike catchphrase and I am sorry for that - but also not really because that is my writing philosophy#band of brothers#writing advice#asks#anonymous

1, 3, 22 for the HBO war ask game
1. What was the first series you watched and how did you find out about it?
It was Band of Brothers! I’d already heard about it but very vaguely, but I especially found out about it thanks to a dear online friend of mine. It was a longtime favorite of hers so I finally decided to check it out in January of this year aaaaand it got me completely obsessed.
2. Have you read any of the books related to the series?
I’ve read the original Ambrose book, Band of Brothers, Dick’s war memoir (Beyond Band of Brothers) and his biography (Biggest Brother). I’m currently reading Robert Leckie’s Helmet for My Pillow and loving every second of it 🥰
22. If you could make HBO create another series, what would it be about?
Ooh I love this so question. There are so many different interesting angles to WW2 they could tackle with another series, but as an Italian the one I’d be more interested to see is about the various resistance movements that happened all around Europe at the time. The Italian Resistance movement was really instrumental in liberating most of our country from nazi-fascism and the same can be said about many other countries so I think it would be cool if they put more emphasis on that. It would also certainly make for thrilling, tension filled narrative.
