a friendly reminder to pagans & witches:

it is okay if you weren't productive today.

it is okay if you didn't do any spellwork.

it is okay if you didn't pray.

it is okay if you didn't offer something to your deities.

it is okay if you didn't learn anything new.

it is okay if you didn't feel like doing something related to your craft.

it is okay if you didn't have any motivation to do anything.

it is okay.

your path is yours and it should make you comfortable.

perhaps you had planned many things to do, perhaps you wanted to learn more, perhaps you wished for some time alone with your deities; or perhaps you were looking forward to something else.

it is okay if you couldn't do it — whether you weren't feeling well, you had other things to do or you just didn't want to.

your practice should be something that is useful and helpful, something which you should benefit from. take this into account when you are in your spiritual space <3

. . . Who is Lady Mnemosyne?

In Mythology & cult worship:

Lady Mnemosyne is a titaness, daughter of Ouranos and Gaia, mother of the Mousai. she is the goddess of memory and remembrance, preserver of oral tradition before written record, creator of language. she was said to aid worshippers in the remembering of visions and in the recall of poetry, prose, or song for performers.

as a daughter of Ouranos, and goddess of remembrance, Mnemosyne also has a role as a minor goddess of time. memory transcends the present in recalling the past - and her role in prophecy provides an element of the future.

the Mnemosyne pool (which is also sometimes called a well, and other times a river) in Hades allows those who would drink from it to recall their past lives rather than to drink from the river Lethe to forget. this led to the pool's involvement in Orphism - to drink from it in Hades, Orphics believed, facilitated the end to a cycle of reincarnation.

but the waters of this pool also exist in tandem with the waters of the river Lethe. at the Oracle of Trophonios, an oracular temple, one seeking to receive a prophecy was to first drink from the waters of Lethe (to forget, to clear one's mind), and then from the waters of Mnemosyne (to recall, to receive the new memories). in this role she can be seen to become a minor oracular goddess as well.

dedicated worship of Mnemosyne was sparse, partially due to the fact that as a titaness her role amongst the gods was diminished following the titanomachy; but images of her could be seen alongside the Mousai, her daughters, and in the cult of Asclepius due to worshippers seeking cures given by Asclepius in dream-form - Mnemosyne was called upon to aid with the remembrance of these.

In my practice / UPG:

as goddess of remembrance, I thank Lady Mnemosyne for my continued recollection of memories and moments which are meaningful to me.

as preserver of memory and mother of language, I call upon Lady Mnemosyne's aid in academic situations: when writing a paper, I may pray to her facet as creatress of written word. when preparing for an assessment, I may pray to her facet as goddess and overseer of human memory.

as mother of the muses and the arts, I call upon Lady Mnemosyne, and her daughters', aid in creative pursuits. when composing poetry or prose, I may pray to her.

in accordance with her role in tandem with Lady Lethe, I thank her for giving to me memories from this life & from others, just as I thank Lady Lethe for cleansing from my memory that which troubles me in this life.

your faith and path are completely valid no matter the amount of time that passed since you chose to pursue them. you don't need 14+ years of research and knowledge to consider yourself pagan.

you do not need to have had “pagan signs” since you were a kid to become pagan; you do not need to have always known paganism's existence in modern times to call yourself pagan; you do not need to look for things you did in your childhood to “justify” your path.

you can be pagan even if you spent the past years without thinking about paganism, even if your religious (or non-religious) background was so different than what you believe in now.

if you feel at home and comfortable with this path, you are pagan — no matter if you discovered it a week ago or more than four years ago.

i see you and i support you; your beliefs are valid and they cannot be taken away from you by someone else.

sometimes learning about paganism and witchcraft can become incredibly tiring and occasionally even terrifying, especially when you haven't lived in a pagan and/or witchy household (but not only in those cases).

there are so many concepts to grasp, so much new information that it becomes overwhelming to see all those things that you think you should know immediately — and overall there's a lot to unpack, be it skepticism or religious trauma or anxiety or any other thing.

i'm here to tell you that it's okay. it's okay to be scared and insecure about all of this, it's okay to have doubts, it's okay to struggle.

my advice is, as simple as it might sound, break down what you'd like to know into small categories, and start focusing on only one thing (if it works for you — everyone learns in a different way!).

you're getting overwhelmed with so many notions about herbs, crystals, pantheons, witchcraft history, etc? choose one topic and start from the basics.

there are many different sources, which can be contradictory — use them all and confront them.

and remember, take it slowly. your practice is yours and it should accomodate your needs. <3

loneliness can be a common feeling among those people who have to hide their practice and beliefs from others — for fear of judgement, harassment or something else.

there are many who can't share their faith with others; i'm one of them myself: i know how scary it can be to navigate a path without being near people who know and respect what you're talking about, without friends who share your same beliefs.

you're not alone. although it can feel like it many, many times, there are people who feel the same — who know and understand what you're experiencing. what you're feeling is completely valid; but remember that there are other people who are walking the same path, people who do comprehend your struggles and share that sense of despair.

i'm so excited because from tomorrow to wednesday i'm going to celebrate, respectively, hekate's δειπνον (deipnon), νουμηνία (noumenia) and αγαθός δαίμον (agathos daimon) for the first time ever 🥹 i can't wait to experience them

it warms my heart whenever anxiety about my practice takes over me, clouding my judgement and beliefs — and, then, i receive reassuring signs from the deity i'm worshiping and working with.

i'm specifically referring to those moments when you're noticing some unusual things and you ask a deity for additional signs, to see if they're reaching out to you or if you are mistaken.

so you're left with anticipation, waiting and waiting for signs — but the thing about signs is that they come when you least expect them, or at least this is what happens in my experience.

at some point you're starting to doubt your abilities, thinking that maybe those weren't signs of a deity, perhaps you were just looking too much into them... and, suddenly, when your thoughts drift to an entirely different topic, the sign you specifically asked for appears in front of you.

you're surprised but also excited, you can't believe what just happened, you're so unbelievably happy — but then, you feel like it could also just be a coincidence. so you ask for that same sign to appear again.

and it does; it does so multiple times.

it is something that makes me so happy and glad, something that makes me feel safe and not alone.

of course not everything is about signs and people do not necessarily receive them immediately; you're free to reach out to a deity if you would like to build a connection with them — but in this post, i'm talking about those times when you have asked for a sign and received it.

i'm deeply grateful and thankful to deities for all the things they do for us.
