Honestly, fuck Netflix. I liked Netflix when it was just DVDs in the mail. I liked Netflix when it started streaming shit. I didn't like Netflix when the website started getting redesigned and harder to use. I didn't like Netflix when it started promoting shitty original shows that sometimes weren't shitty but still there was a lot of bad ones. And I don't like Netflix as it has become a cynical beacon of assholery, aka capitalism.

♻️ A scrapped idea for your current WIP

As far as Ideas, capital I go, I feel like I haven’t scrapped very many—they’ve either stayed the same or did not previously exist and have needed to be developed. Where the big changes have tended to be is how the ideas are executed. I previously shared a idea of form/style here. But I do have some additional baby ideas, lowercase i, that got cut that I can share!

baby idea: The Gotei dress code does not govern jackets.

Rukia’s first and only autumn at the Academy, what she learned in her lessons and in the schoolyard had coalesced around a half-explanation of this: By and large, Soul Society functions under the assumption that if you matter enough to be known, everyone should know exactly who you are, and where you stand in relation to them. However, there are instances where to be clandestine is a benefit, and the further you get from the center, the more likely that is. The average Hollow doesn’t care about the difference between an unseated shinigami and a captain, much less their color-coding. But where the monsters are older, and smarter, camouflage becomes powerful in ways that announcing rank is not.

This had felt immaculately stupid back then, because even with all the students dressed like confetti once winter rolled around, even though no one was “ranging” anywhere, it was still obvious who everyone was, and how they felt you stood in relation to them. But there hadn’t been any enemies in the schoolyard; just each other.

This was basically just lead-up to the idea that Rukia et al are off on a mission in the mountains in October, and it’s going to be cold, so they’re all wearing jackets, but the jackets are a bunch of random colors that don’t correspond to the usual/easy white/black Gotei dichotomy of color, because out in the mountains there’s no one to signify to, really. Which is all well and good, but the jackets just aren’t something any of the narrators care to remark upon, and people keep whipping them off to fight Hollows and leaving them places. And this whole reflective mode was off the pace of where the narrative was at here. Most importantly, I could not fathom why Rukia would be pulling out Academy memories at this juncture (or perhaps at any juncture), so it didn’t make sense for her to frame her observation in this way.

I think in the final version Rukia’s just like, yup, they’re in jackets and everyone looks like shit!!!

Actually, wait, here's the final version of these paragraphs, which I will include because the last sentence is definitely a dig at DiamondDust Rebellion, lollll:

Lena wakes up the morning of Wednesday, December 28th with two hundred and twenty-seven new Twitter followers and over three thousand mentions. There’s also a 2am text from Kara, just Good night, Lena <3, which does nothing to explain Lena’s sudden surge in social media popularity but does serve to warm her cheeks for a minute or two. She's a fool. A simple good night, and it has her blushing like a schoolgirl.

It takes a little digging, Lena still propped in bed in soft pajamas under an even softer duvet, but eventually she finds the source, a tweet from Kara's official publicity account, timestamped 2:17am:

Daniel, her Foundation's head of publicity, calls at 9:30, barreling past Lena’s apologies to assure her that he's thrilled to trade in a couple of his vacation days to help navigate this sudden windfall.  After that, she migrates from her home office to the Foundation office and spends the next few hours on the phone with department heads and her research team strategizing ways to capitalize on the good press wrought by Kara's tweet. By noon, Daniel has fielded calls from twenty-six news outlets, local, national and international, and issued a press release thanking Supergirl for her generous endorsement and directing interested parties to the Foundation's robust website, white papers, and quarterly reports. 

"Want me to help craft your personal response?" Lena's social media manager, Rochelle, is on the phone now. Lena's name is trending, for a good reason for the first time in forever, and she's long since stopped trying to keep track of her mentions. 

"Pardon?"

Rochelle had been typing in the background of their call, but now the clacking pauses. "I had your Foundation account respond several hours ago, but I imagine you want to respond personally, too. Right?"

Oh. Of course, Lena wants to respond personally, but none of the things she's thinking are fit for public consumption. She's pretty sure a declaration of love would shift the conversation in counterproductive ways, for example. Same with asking Kara via tweet about last night's kiss. And then there are the things she wants to say but can't put into words. A wellspring of gratitude. Overwhelming affection. Anxiety about living up to Kara's public declaration of support. Confusion over Kara's decision to tweet that support to the world and to call on her followers to do the same.

"Thanks, Rochelle. Everything you're doing is great. I've been swamped, but I absolutely plan to respond. I think I can manage to come up with something on my own. Is there anything else? I have another call."

"All good, Ms. Luthor. Let me know if you change your mind."

It's a lie. There's no other call, but she needs a moment to think. She needs to talk to Kara. Not tweet at her, just talk. 

Almost immediately, she loses her nerve, the possibilities of all the directions their conversation could go swirling in her mind. Texting seems like a safe compromise, although she bungles it pretty much out of the gate.

Sorry I didn’t message before now. I’m being besieged with tweets for some reason.... 

The reply is immediate. Oh no. Are you mad? 🥺 I just wanted everyone to know how awesome you are. And I wanted you to hear it from them, too, since you never believe me when I say it. 

Lena is not very good at this–gratitude or friendship or whatever social minefield this is that Kara is clearly so much better at navigating. The idea that Kara could possibly think she’d be mad for something so sweet hurts her heart. 

Not mad at all! Sorry. That text was supposed to be – What? Coy? Flirtatious? Funny? It was clearly none of those things; she lands on – thankful. I was just so surprised.

A good surprise?

A lovely surprise, yes.

Lena allows herself a few minutes, then, just to sit and text her best friend, without worrying too much about everything else. She tells her about waking up to the Twitter mentions, about the new investments, about how Daniel and Rochelle were so excited they both offered independently to defer part of their vacation time to help her wrangle media requests and publicity. She doesn't tell her how warm the messages from thousands of people made her feel, that those completely unknown to her might be affected by what she’s done, for good this time, that other people might actually have cause to like and respect her. 

In the end, she settles for a Streetcar Named Desire joke.

I have never depended on the kindness of strangers, Kara.

Kara doesn’t miss a beat. You don’t strike me as a Blanche anyway. Did it feel good, this one time?

Leave it to Kara to cut to the chase.

Lena’s phone beeps. Daniel needs her to talk to some new potential investors in a half hour and has sent along their portfolio.

Ppl reallllllly need to design make n test their shit for a diverse range of bodies, not just some 'norm' -- whether that means ppl like them or some genuine average. ‼️‼️‼️I don't think I can be much shorter than the world average height for an adult so like... Who is determining what counts as normal? Where is this stuff being made?? Do all office chairs come from the netherlands or some shit????

I do sometimes see v tall ppl suffering in similar situations eg not being able to fit anything from the neck up into train carriages comfortably & feel some degree of empathy for them, but then I'll try to live my life and find im being kicked in the ankles and smashed in the umbrella all day long by Talls who seem to have developed v little spatial awareness bc the world is designed for them while I'm trying to reach something in an ill placed cupboard or w/e & im back to being filled with rage 😅

So the solution probably is largely to end capitalism so ppl aren't just rushing shit things out plus if ergonomics & design etc can't engage w/ the fact that not everyone has the same body we probs need to dismantle those whole frameworks tbh. shitty (disgusting) chain pet stores that promote animal abuse. you know half the fucking (figuratively) animals fucking die before they even get to the store with [insert chain pet store] and most of the ones in there are sick. they tell you improper care instructions and sell you overpriced equipment, a lot of which isn’t even appropriate for the animals you’re supposed to be caring for so your animals will die quickly and you go buy a new pet. i hate that shit (disgusting exploitation of animals). i wish the route that had been taken was selling at least good products and proper care instructions. sure, they might not be able to sell animals so cheap, but they could’ve fucking made it popular to buy expensive and fancy equipment for their pets. i hate how the attitude of small and plasticky enclosures got so popular and people keep pets in what should be temporary carriers. or poison them with improper diets. it leads to the normalization of animal abuse and its so disgusting i hate it. if you have a pet, you should cherish it. that is the living creature you brought into your goddamn home. don’t give into the bullshit tiny little reptile enclosures or fishbowls or calcium sand or parrot seed or rabbit food or hamster balls. fuck all that shit (garbage). do research and don’t trust chain stores.

Na última terça-feira (13/06), participei do workshop "Engenharia Hospitalar: Oportunidades no Distrito Federal" promovido pelo Crea-DF. O evento foi ministrado pela talentosíssima Maruska Holanda, que é coordenadora do Grupo de Trabalho para Construção de Unidades Hospitalares do Distrito Federal da Companhia Urbanizadora da Nova Capital do Brasil – NOVACAP e conselheira e diretora de planejamento do Crea-DF. 👏👩‍🏫

Durante sua apresentação, Maruska expôs um panorama geral dos hospitais públicos e das necessidades de leitos no Distrito Federal. Destacou também três grandes projetos em andamento no DF: Hospital do Recanto das Emas (HRE), Hospital Clínico Ortopédico (HCO) no Guará e Hospital de São Sebastião (HSS) e seus requisitos para os processos licitatórios. 🏥
