“Why not?” She’d turned him down when he’d wanted to love her for the rest of his days. It felt odd, unfair, for her to show up like this and ask him to do such a thing.

He continued before she could make her case. He can be unfair too. Often he was.

“I’m not.” I can’t. I can only be in love with you, and you- If possible, his frown deepened.

“I’m not in love with anyone.” He gripped the door and set his jaw. “Is that all you wanted?” He hoped for more, and then buried that hope so he wouldn't be disappointed.

He couldn’t be disappointed. He was trying to move on.

The dates with Gwen weren’t the best nights of his life, but she was... nice. It made him feel warm when he’d felt left out in the cold. He wasn’t in love. Hell, they’d only been on a few dates, hadn’t even kissed, nothing official. But it was... nice.

They hadn’t spoken since breaking it off. Zelda must have seen them, or she wouldn’t be here. Still, it begged the question. Why?

Gwen wears a lot of shirts with puffy, frilly sleeves. They’re long enough to fall over their hands, but ones with open, lacy parts on the back or shoulders are always a favourite as well. This paired with a corset, perhaps a pair of tight pants, and heels is always their go-to combination. It’s the highest quality, they make their own money, so why not spoil themselves.

This will change, of course, if they have an event or meeting to go to, but this is generally what they wear. Maybe a few tweaks here and there, but that’s the general idea.

His back was aching so he was lying on his stomach on top of his bed. Couldn't be bothered to get under the blanket. It was warm anyway.

Surprisingly awake, he just laid there. But the silence only lasted so long.

His mind wandered to Gwen. It'd been a couple of months or so, since breaking up with her.

She just called it quits one day. They weren't going anywhere, and she had plans for her life. Big plans. And he just wasn't making himself a part of them.

They hadn't been dating long but... It'd been nice.

He tried. He tried not to get mad like he did. He tried to keep his cool. He tried to be better than he was. Take care of himself the way she encouraged him to. He wanted to be good for this. Maybe not for her. He wasn't in love. This wasn't the girl that changed him. But he wanted to be good when he's been so wrong for so long. When he's been so wrong and lost the love of his life probably. He wanted to be good for something good in his life for once.

He tried for more time but the whole thing unraveled, slipped through his fingers.

He felt his anger rise at the memory. So what? He didn't fit into her plans, so she'll stop caring about him? Still want to be friends. He scoffed to himself. Yeah. She'll still be his friend. Sure. He huffed and deliberately face planted into his pillow with a grunt. His hands gripped at the fabric of his blanket.

He was so mad. She was a nice girl and betrayed his heart, his trust, this way. Dropping him when he wasn't what he'd never been. He'd never led her on with being more than what he was. Why didn't she figure it out before it all that he wasn't what she wanted? It's been staring her in the face this whole time.

Why had he put all this genuine effort to avoid this if only to end up here anyway? Why did he let her in?

He forgot to lean out.

Gwen’s home is actually pretty monochrome. The colours of furniture, countertops, and appliances being a combination of cool grey and black tones— But they do have plants placed throughout the space, so it brings in a bit of colour! Given that it’s an apartment, though, they can’t change too much. The space itself is large, as far as apartments go, so Gwen has space to move around in. Bookshelves are lined with different books, journals, and whatever other knick knacks they could find. They don’t really do much here; aside from working, sleeping, and sketching if they have time— they mostly try to keep themselves out of the house, if at all possible. But its still good to have their own space.

As for clothing, they store each piece separately. Their room is one of the bigger spaces in the apartment, so they took advantage and filled it up. Their closet is filled with all kinds of pretty shirts~ From lace, to ones with frilly sleeves, to a combination of the two. They have a dresser for socks, underwear, and any other miscellaneous items (including corsets :3). Then a completely seperate one just for pants. They have a bad habit of buying clothing when they don’t really need it, but if it’s pretty then they’re buying it.

They actually cut they’re hair! On their 19th birthday, they decided to give themselves a haircut— call it a fresh start of sorts (fitting, given they were born on New Year’s). It’s a shorter hairstyle, one that doesn’t go past their neck. They’ll either just wear it as is, or have a ‘half up-half down’ vibe going for them. They’ve decided now they don’t have as many appearances to hold up, they can let their hair rest in its natural state, and take care of it way better than they had been.

They’re generally dismissive when it comes to stressful situations. So they never really actually deal with them, but just tell themselves that ‘It’s not stressful,’ ‘You aren’t actually stressed,’ or ‘This is normal.’ But if it’s an emotion that’s causing them stress, they’re evasive. Running and hiding until the feeling goes away. If stressed enough, though, they might breakdown. They push and compact everything into such a tight box, that if something’s just a little too much, or their general ‘tactics’ don’t work, they fall over the edge.

Gwen doesn’t like alcohol, they hate the substance actually. Given their position, they kept having drinks shoved in their face, with no choice but to drink, from a very young age. Alcohol’s known to affect a child’s brain development. (there are drinking ages in place for a reason.)This, along with the negative feelings they have associated with it, make them physically ill whenever it’s mentioned or offered to them. But there are cases where they have to keep up appearances, or just have no other escape, where they may drink enough to numb their senses. They don’t take any drugs.

As for health, though— they have a few conditions, so they take medications. They have anaemia and asthma, those are the biggest ones; so they have iron supplements and asthma medications, as well a nebuliser and inhalers if the need calls for them. HRT is also a treatment they’ve committed to, though they prefer gel treatments rather than injections or pills. After their incident with Richter, they were on several different medications for heart complications, and so it could beat correct, but they no longer take them. (as for previous procedures— they’ve had top surgery >:3, but the scarring was minimal, and healed up nicely.)

Their voice drifts between feminine and masculine a lot, and it’s actually hard to put into words how I’ve been imagining their voice sounding?? So I have voice claims! The voices for both female and male Altmer in Skyrim both fit Gwen quite well. (because of the fluctuation, punctuation, and accent— and because one of Gwen’s parents was an Elf T~T)

I’d say for their normal, run of the mill speaking voice, it’s a mixture/in between of the two. But depending on the situation at hand, it drifts more towards feminine and masculine.
