A rampage, they called it, one of many times in which the word was utilized within the same context as The Hulk. With a noun like that being thrown around, how could Adam have possibly prevented himself from winding up here? A photographer's curiosity is much too lethal, this force which propels them to capture the un-capturable; to immortalize something, a moment in time that only they and a select few have access to. How could Adam, then, not feed into it? Not let himself do what he does best and snoop around - locate said 'rampage' and capture it for what it is? The simple answer is he couldn't - he can't. Especially with the monetary gain of it all - that extra incentive.

But, of course, everything comes with a price. And this time, the price is being swiftly rescued by the Hulk much too soon, right around his discovery that the very noun which had brought him here was nothing short of a stretch.

How frustrating it is - how pathetic it must look - for him to once again have lost mastery of his own fate. To have been rescued, again, from the claws of death. He grunts when put down and sighs when he turns to the other, the burning fire his gaze never quite loses now trailing along his form. The hero looks beat, now no longer 'hulked out'. Should he look beat?

"... You look like shit-" a huff, the very first words spoken to his savior. "Do you-. Are you fine?" Not 'okay', not 'alright', 'fine'. It sounds stern that way. It doesn't betray his admiration for Bruce Banner that way, yet his form is already leaning forward to attempt to aid the man and perch him up however he can.

How is one meant to feel at a moment like this? Adam's almost attempting to distract himself by venturing to answer that question. A motorcycle ride back home would've been the perfect end to a date had he ever managed to get through one. He can picture himself and whatever stand-in hottie with their hair blowing in the wind, making innuendos and talking or reveling in each other's silent company as they cross the road. It makes him sick to his stomach - ties a knot up there which reminds him of his incompetency in relationships and the inevitability of his failure at establishing them. Don't try again. You shouldn't have tried this time. This isn't on you, but it would've been if the guy was decent.

A sigh escapes him as Steve speaks, wandering mind pushing the other man's dialogue into the position of an afterthought. "I bet." he simply responds, not denying the dislike, and yet letting one of his palms strike tighter against Steve's form. Personal dislike be it as it may, he's drained and in desperate need for... anything, really, to the point where he begins to feel guilt over finding a frustrating comfort in Steve's voice when he checks up on him.

"Are you?" he diverts, head sinking down so that his forehead might lightly touch the other's shoulder. Another sigh. "Y've been drivin' for a while now. If y'oughtta stop ta rest 'r gas up 'r somethin' I won't complain... much." he lifts his head up, sliding forward so that not a single speck of distance remains between their torsos. "Y're too fuckin' kind, Rogers."

Steve doesn't fully know how to get Adam to like him. Being himself sure isn't working. The guy's got whole opinions about him that're hard to overturn. "I don't think anyone deserves that type of treatment." He takes back the phone, looking down at the address. "It's okay." It's the other side of the city but he doesn't mind too much. Nothing calms Steve down more than a drive and a chance to collect his thoughts. On the bike no-one can stop him and ask him questions or try to take photos with him.

"Yeah, well - Believe me, it'd be more fun for me too if it was with someone who didn't outwardly dislike me." Steve couldn't help the words muttering out. He'd often thought about how he'd love to take dates out on his bike, drive down along the coast, and pack a picnic. Instead, he's turned into a glorified Avengers Uber service. He kicks up the stand before looking out into the street and taking off. Traffic, thankfully, isn't too busy, meaning that he zips towards Adam's address without too much hassle. "You good back there?"

5. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) 🕷️🕸️

So far, it is the best superhero movie of 2023, with the permission of the Ninja Turtles (do we count them as superheroes, right?). Just as frenetic, ingenious, and spectacular as the previous one, this second installment maintains the freshness while taking animation to another level and continues to play with meta-language with a plot that responds to those who question Morales' choice to lead a Marvel comics adaptation. A strange case of a sequel that does not lower the level of the original.

4. Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (2023) 🥷🏻

It is one of the great comedies of the year. A delightful dose of adventure in the style of 'Indiana Jones', 'Pirates of the Caribbean', or the video game 'Monkey Island'. Absolutely charming, fresh, and playful, it has a charismatic cast that you want to accompany to the ends of the earth. Hopefully, they make another one (at this level).

3. Elementals 🔥💦

It is a beauty, an exciting and very funny story told with the narrative mastery and beautiful animation of the Pixar label. The studio's first romantic comedy is an absolute triumph. It brought a different approach to what Disney was doing.

2. Barbie 👄

It is a very ingenious comedy that plays with expectations, exudes a love for cinema, and above all, takes advantage of a great cast eager to laugh and have a good time. Of course, it delves into the debate of sexism in society with a perhaps questionable discourse for a Hollywood blockbuster, but it does so with a sense of humor and respect for its characters.

The problem, there, is that the therapist's smile almost throws him off. An improvement from stoic-ness or a completely and total demotion? Adam couldn't have possibly guessed with just the expression on its own. The words, though, and the deepening creases between his brows at them, seem to point to the latter reception. No pretty smile in the whole wide world could ever make up for the sheer disgust he feels right now - towards the other, towards the - in Adam's eyes - plastic, impossibly mundane perspective which he's chosen to voice.

Adam looks him up and down. Judges, tucks his head in to judge, even, all throughout every little word meticulously cascading his way, finally clicking his tongue when yet another question foots the dialogue. He's decided he hates Jonathan Crane - he's much too conventional in his professionalism. "You're such a turn-off." he decides to very eloquently voice it.

"See, I'd answer that, but you're not givin' me any reason to." he shrugs. "You can't seem to answer your own questions with anythin' more than a stupid, fuzzy generality. Why should I bother givin' 'em more than that, then?" a beat wherein he debates leaving it at that. - Yeah, not going to happen. "Seein' ain't the same as feelin'. That's external. Would you get yourself fixed, doctor? Did you before? Will you now? " a slight narrow at his gaze. Everyone is sufficiently fucked up. Some more than others, but the consensus remains. So how, then, does this alleged 'mender of minds' before him deal with its application on himself? Can he self-therapize? Sounds unlikely. "And don't give me that..." nose wrinkles, "smile 'n a cushy 'well anyone certainly includes me!' Pretty 'n mock-perky don't work on the fucked, 'm afraid." a shrug, but the stiffness of it betrays the sheer frustration of the man, who then decides to perch his whole form up over the desk in a swift flip up and sit cross-legged, tabletop items be damned.

"You want me to cooperate but you're not givin' me incentive." he angles his head down to look at Crane, "'n it's kinda stupid of ya to expect me to be the only pathetic one in this room. Answer your own questions right 'n I'll consider doing the same. I'm primal like that. Monkey see, monkey do." And to tack another idiom on: misery likes company. Although Adam remains doubtful that any misery contained within this room could ever exceed his own.

he's astonishingly self - aware for someone so otherwise foolish. adam talks and talks and talks, yet it all seems to serve the simple purpose of a cover. a colorful performance meant to disguise something deeper. of course, it's all too common for patients to reject help of any kind ( or reject being fixed, as adam so plainly put it. ) but there are methods for handling that. calculated inevitabilities.

as the younger man steps closer, crane slowly breathes in, his cold gaze darting from adam's hand — pressed, filthily, against his notebook — to his animated face. the doctor caps his pen and waits for adam to finish speaking.

then he smiles.

❛ well, i don't think anyone is beyond helping. i, myself, have seen firsthand some of the most hurt, suffering people make the most remarkable progress. ❜ it simply depends on how one chooses to define the word progress. he leans forward with the ghost of a smile. ❛ i believe in you, adam. ❜

he lets the moment hang in the air before crossing his legs. ❛ but, please, ❜ crane says, leaning back against his chair. ❛ let's shake things up, if you're so curious to do things differently. you're clearly imaginative. tell me, adam— what would you do to ruin yourself? ❜ he voices the question softly, but there's something keen and sharp in his stare — as if he's daring adam to speak openly. don't hold back.

despite everything, crane somewhat understands him. there is something uniquely demeaning to unpacking unspeakable pain with a mere stranger. if anything, he's right to fight back. but it won't do him any good. crane remains focused on his ultimate goal — the continuation of his research, and, preferably, new information on this jigsaw figure. it's so close, nearly in sight. he just has to reach out and snatch it.

Not quite as harmed as the civilian that Adam is, but enough to warrant medical attention.

Adam clicks his tongue, not quite liking the implications of what's being said. So, he fussed a little over him when he saw him fighting some big-shot villain and then followed and snapped a few shots of the guy when he escaped. So, he's here to hand them in for free. That doesn't mean he's got a heart! He's just doing his due diligence so the cops will leave him alone. He does have some 'petty theft' and a couple 'possession of illegal substances' waiting to happen if he doesn't buckle up and take suspicion off of himself. That's what this is.

"Oh, don't let one act o' kindness fool ya, Rogers. I left that thing back in the womb." he tells him, placing the pictures on the table. "There's one there of you fightin' 'im. Couldn't resist snappin' there cuz the angle was just right." he then says, finally meeting his gaze. "All yours. Memorabilia or whatever."
