Note
I just got to 2x15 and I used to be an ardent defender of The Betrayal™️ like “well DUH it was OBVIOUSLY the right decision to make, Clarke would’ve done the same thing!” which yeah I still kinda stand by canon-wise but like… writing-wise is it just me or is the whole thing kind of dumb 😭 Like they were already winning??? There was no point in not just killing Emerson and Cage and all the others and freeing the Sky People and civilians??? The Sky People have made powerful allies, can cure Reapers, and are the only reason they’ve made it this far and she just leaves them to die??? I don’t know, unless Lexa was like, really fuckin sure that Clarke could handle things just fine on her own, it doesn’t make any kind of logical sense to me if I really think about it for more than a few seconds.
It feels kind of out of character for Lexa too, like the Grounders inside Mount Weather are an army waiting to be set free to defeat the Mountain Men, are likely willing to die for the cause and the greater good (which Lexa literally said in the previous episode that you should be able to tell your people to die for you!) — like, bad thing: many of the Grounders inside the Mountain die fighting. But good thing: the Mountain Men are defeated and in the long run the Grounder suffering under their oppression which has lasted 97 years finally ends. It seems like a worthy sacrifice to me and I just think it’s an odd, contradictory heel-turn for Lexa to suddenly make.
I don’t know am I making any sense here or am I literally the only one overthinking this 😂
Oh bby I have talked about this before
And I'll do it again 🥴
No it really did make no sense beyond juat setting up the adversarial plotline between Clarke and Lexa and furthering the dynamics between Skaikru and the clans.
Realistically, logically, strategically - it made no sense. None. Cuz, even beyond just what you're saying, Lexa taking the deal in turn means the MM keep the skairats. Whom they were harvesting bone marrow from. Which allowed them to walk freely outside.
Considering???? That they had every intention of wiping out the Grounders, whyyyy in god's fucking name would Lexa "I got a phat ass and love stinky blonde bitches" Kom Trikru willingly provide the very key that would allow them easier ability in the future to annihilate her people??
It's? Illogical? And fucking nonsense?
But I'm supposed to believe that she made that choice? I'm supposed to believe that someone who won her conclave at the age of like 11-12, who beat and bartered 12 warring clans into submission, who found her lover's severed head in her bed and then still accepted the murderer into her alliance for the best of her people... I'm supposed to believe she would take such a short-sighted, lopsided deal? Really? Really?
I mean when you look at it from just a narrative perspective, yes of course it makes sense. Sacrifices have to be made yada yada, my people or yours blah blah blah, she loves her but had to choose her people bing bong balsjdjslk. I get it, I do, and it was a very compelling moment to watch. Truly, I love that episode, it was devastating and shocking and they acted it so gd well it still holds up. Like every rewatch makes my lil gay heart clench, and I'm not kidding. But take even one step back and look at the entire picture of the situation and actually who Lexa is as a person and leader, and the whole fucking plot just falls apart

Chapter 5
Summary: After a Halloweenparty Y/N actually didn't want to got to, her life seems to be turned around. The reason is a very stubborn Supe that seems to have her in his visier. Is it just a coincidance or more?
Pairing: Soldier Boy/Ben x Reader
Word Count: 3188
Warnings: 18+ only!!! Smut, some language, more new and overwhelming situations
Song Inspo: (Yup ^^) "Locked out of Heaven" ~ Bruno Mars. It's a first for me too, but I heard it again after a looong time and the song just took me there.
A/N: So... the small flu turned into a big flu. It struck me down more than I'd hoped for. And my periode decided to visit me too. Yay, fun times! But now we're finally here. All mistakes are mine. Enjoy!

"This is not how this is going to be."
"You don't have to decide that, motherfucker!"
"You wanna fucking test me? Again?" Ben challenged M.M. with little to no effort of really meaning it, knowing fully well that he was stronger anyway.
And while he took a hit of his joint, Y/N stood in her living room behind the couch and observed the new situation she found herself in. Mallory had sent some people over to help keep everything in check and to not put her in dangerous situations or to help her out of it if needed. Just like it happened half an hour ago at her work place. It had gotten really scary there for a moment and when she heard the gunshots she had thought it was over.
But then there was Starlight and Y/N knew that she shared the same attitude towards Vought and the supes. So she did not hesitate to follow her out of the store and into the car they came with. M.M. had shot the gun and Hughie, Starlights boyfriend she recognized from TV, had drove the car.
"You had let her go out!" M.M. took a step forward and raised his finger to point at Ben.
"She's her own person." Ben looked over to her for a second, before he kept talking. "And she's the last person to fucking do what I say anyway. That's for sure."
"Guys... can we not..." Hughie tried to intervene, but Ben stopped him.
"Shut up, Rantallion."
"I... that's..."
They escaped the place as fast as they could and took some extra turnes on the road until they arrived at her apartment. On the way there Annie filled her in and told her all about Mallorys plan to have her on watch. That sounded not so bad after all, but now everyone was gathered in her small apartment and it felt incredibly crowded. Annie came around the couch to Y/N and touched her careful on the arm to get her attention.
"You okay?"
To answer that question she had to think about it for a second. "Yeah... in a way. But this..." Now she raised her voice a little more. "This is not going to work out. My apartment is not big enough for you all."
"But we're supposed to look after you. To keep you safe." said M.M..
"I'll keep her safe." Now Ben stepped forward. "You don't need to worry about that."
"As we saw."
"Hey!" Ben pointed at Hughie who was actually just talking to himself, but that didn't seem to work with the supe. "If you don't wanna lick my balls, the peanut gallery shut's the fuck up!"
"WOULDN'T IT BE BETTER..." Y/N tried loudly to bring the attention back to the actual point. With success. "If you watched me... from outside? Keep the streets in check? The surroundings? If you're all in here, that wouldn't be very strategic, would it?"
"That's not the plan anyway. But one of us has to stay in here. Just in case. And it's probably best when we... take turns." Annie looked at the others.
After a moment of silence everyone seemed to agree. They could not all stay in the apartment together and it would also not be good to make the same person come here every day and stay. Not with Soldier Boy already fuming about him being questioned in keeping Y/N safe. So Annie decided to stay the rest of the day. M.M. and Hughie would observe the street infront of the house.
"Where's Butcher? Still after Homelander?" Ben went into the kitchen to get himself a beer.
"No. He's... on a different mission." Hughie answered vaguely but Y/N could see in Ben's face that he tuned into the thoughts of the young man. "Okay! We should go."
And shortly after that, the apartment felt silent again.
Tumblr media
Five days. It's now been five days with Ben and the others in Y/N's life. And it was no fun. Ben had been more grumpy than he already was and when he was not sitting in the living room watching TV and trying to catch up on everything that he missed, he disappeared in her bedroom. The only room Y/N thought she had to herself. And at night, with just her and the fake boyfriend, it felt fine. Almost content even. He never tried to come on to her, eventhough she almost expected something like that to happen. Surprisingly, he never initiated a move. But he didn't talk to her either.
Sometimes she asked him a question. One that sounded easy to answer but surely could've lead into a longer conversation. However, Ben just gifted her with short, confused and annoyed gazes before he gave her a even shorter answer. And he never asked Y/N a question in return. At first she told herself that she just tried to dive more into the whole fake dating thing they were supposed to play out. It would be beneficial if they knew more about each other. If they would get to know each other better. But Ben didn't seem to be interessted in that. Still, Y/N kept trying.
After a few days she realized that it was not entirely because of the fake dating story. Slowly but surely, the man she shared her bed with, started to interest her. Of course she had read and heard storys about him, but once you realize how much Vought lies about their heros, Y/N began to question everything. Maybe that could've protected Jenny... Him on the other hand didn't seem to have any interest in getting to know her. Not that it was important to her. Not at all. But it made her still wonder why he picked her for all of this.
Having Annie all day in her house was comfortable. The women talked quite a bit, while she stayed alert to some degree. Not like Ben, the blonde woman listened and shared her story willingly. They talked about family and how Vought and the supes had changed their lives. But when Annie asked how Y/N found out that the supes were merely real heros, she didn't tell her about Jenny. What had happened to her sister was still so painful and horrific and she was not ready to tell it to anyone. So she just told her, that her wake up call had not been really pleasant, but it most definitley had opened her eyes. Annie seemed to understand and did not ask any further questions. They changed the subject and kept talking about other things. It was really fun.
With Hughie in her apartment it was different. He was around her age, maybe a little younger and still they didn't seem to find something they could talk about. He was not as open as Annie was, stayed mostly near a window and tried to keep one eye on Ben. She could see how nervous the supe made him. Y/N knew that they had worked together beforehand, but during the battle in the Vought Tower the tables were turned and so nothing was sure anymore. That's when Y/N started to cook again, just to stay busy. Ben occupied the TV most of the time and rather than watching one thing at a time he changed channels what felt like evey five seconds. But when the supe smelled that she was cocking in the kitchen, a smile spread over his face.
"Finally you do what every woman should do." he told her. "When are we gonna eat?"
"Who said I would cook for you, too?" she replied after a stern look up to him.
This respones wiped the smile from his face and the dialogue that followed after was one Y/N did not want to think about again. His very old views on women were truly hair-raising and she could not wrap her head around how a man as attractive as him still had those visions. But maybe that was a good thing in the end, because she could never be together with a man like that. Not that she wanted to be together with Ben anyway.
That's why it was good that Ben left the apartment sometimes. Not like Y/N, he didn't need to stay inside. So, Mallory left him Paul and the car to get his weed and whatever else. Sometimes she saw that he used something harder than his joints. But she didn't care, as long as he didn't bring them into her apartment. And so it was nice that he was gone for some time of the day. Especially when M.M. started to stay over for the day.
But the tension in the room, when both men were there, was so strong that it made her really uncomfortable. Y/N had heard from Annie what the business between them was and she could not imagine how Marvin must've felt everytime he saw the man who killed his family. The urge for revenge must've been so strong, that his OCD even took over in her apartment. When he realized that Y/N was watching him quietly, he tried to stop and apologized, but she didn't mind. In a way she understood it and it made her feel connected to him. Every supe-survivor had a package to bare.
This day though was different. As soon as Y/N woke up, she could feel that something was off. Ben was already up and she could hear voices talking with eachother. She got out of the bed and just hoped that it was not Marvin in her living room, but luck was not on her side today. And out of an unknown reason Ben decided that today was the day to talk. With every hour that passed it became more unbearable. At some point Y/N asked him if he didn't want to leave today and Ben just said no and started talking to Marvin again. His responses were short but his anger was evidently shown on his face and his leg was bouncing rentlessly up and down.
Y/N's breaking point came in the evening. The talk between the men became more and more heated and whatever she tried to break it up, it didn't work. Ben had to pick at M.M.'s wounds and the black man fired back, obviously not caring who he was talking to. Y/N had no idea what was happening and why they were behaving like this, but she couldn't take it anymore. From both men unknown she disappeared into her bedroom, changed her clothes and escaped down the fire escape by her bedroom window. It didn't take long to find Paul and the car and so she opened the door and jumped on the backseat. With surprise vivid on his face he turned around.
"Please take me somewhere else!"
"Miss Y/L/N..."
"They're bashing their heads in and it's been almost a week since I saw or heard someone else. I know I should not be out here and it's dangerous if anyone sees and recognizes me, but I can't take it anymore. So, please... help me." she looked at him with pleading eyes.
Paul sighed. "Where do you want to go?"
She leaned back into the seat with relieve. "I don't know. Is there not a club with private lounges or rooms or something? Something where I'm out of danger and still can... forget all of this."
Paul nodded his head quickly and started to drive. The further away he took her, the more freely she felt she could breathe. And that's when she realized how heavy all of this was sitting on her shoulders. One stupid decision could turn your life around and make it better or worse. She should've just stayed at home on halloween. The car suddenly came to a stop and she looked out of the window. They were at the backentrance of a nightclub, where two security guards were standing.
Paul got out and Y/N folllowed him. The three men shared a knowing look and one of the strangers opened the door to let them in. Paul walked her up to a door, opened it and revealed a privat room behind it. A large window allowed a view down into the club and she could hear the loud music blasting over speakers in the room. On the left was a minibar and on the right was a small sofa with a table. She really didn't wanted to know why he knew that a place like this existed.
"You have the room to yourself. Noone will come in here. The window is a one way mirror, so nobody can see you. And I will wait outside to bring you back home."
Y/N showed him a genuine smile. "Thank you!"
Paul nodded again and left her alone in the room. As soon as the door closed, the music got louder and she walked over to the minibar. This was exactly what she needed right now.

"Oh Aaashleeeey!"
The redhaired woman jumped at hearing her name said in a singsong voice by Homelander. She closed her eyes for a second and then plastered a smile on her face. He was expecting some news about Soldier Boy. To bad for her, she had not really anything to say. The old hero was nowhere to find, his girlfirend also did not show and that was not good. Ashley was supposed to bring answers.
"So!" Homelander came around to stand infront of Ashley, crossed his arms behind his back and looked down to the woman infront of him with raised eyebrows. "Any news?"
"N...no... not really. But we're looking into every little hint we get. We tried to follow the car in which they disappeared after the incident in the shop, but... we lost track of it."
This was not what he wanted to hear. He had hoped that there was already more to tell, maybe even a location or at least the neighborhood in which they were hiding. Homelander needed to find Soldier Boy and end him as fast as he could. Or else his dad would end him and if anyone could do that, it was him.
"That is really disappointing, Ashley. You had over a week to get me results."
"I know! I know, but... there is something I can tell you." she stood up and hold up one hand as if she tried to calm the supe infront her down.
"And that would be?" he asked expectantly.
"We're not the only ones who are looking for them." To that Homelander raised an eyebrow again. "Victoria Newman is also looking for him. She's hiding her searchteam in an abandoned building just outside New York."
Now that were really some news. Slowly Homelander turned around to look outside the window again.
"Well.... maybe it's time that I pay our vice-chancellor candidate a visit."

Several hours later, Y/N had no idea how long she'd been here, she felt good, really good. The music was the right mix to let loose and she felt a little tipsy from the alcohol. It was freeing and she really wanted this to last as long as possible. She danced her heart out with the people down on the dancefloor who had no idea that she was partying with them.
But when Bruno Mars started to sing that sex felt like heaven, two strong hands appeared on her hips and a warm, strong body pressed against her back. It startled her for a second, but it didn't take long for her to realize that it was Ben. His scent infiltrated her nose and she closed her eyes with enjoyment for a moment, while his body started to sway with her's. She had not heard him come into the room and it got her wondering how he was able to sneak up to her. Maybe after the last time she returned from the toilette?
"How did you find me?" she just had to ask.
"Paul called me." his deep voice answered. "Just to be sure."
Y/N could feel the bulge in her back starting to grow and a small moan left her lips. Damn, why was this always happening when she had some alcohol in her system? It's like he could sense his oppurtunity and had no problem to take it. But she felt so good right now, that she actually did not care. Y/N brought her arms back to lay them around his neck and pressed herself a little more into him.
That movement gave Ben the freedom to let his hands wander to the front of her jeans and started to open it. Y/N had to chuckle. He really didn't waste any time. Her hands ran through his hair and she laid her head back on his shoulder. Ben placed open mouthed kisses on her neck while his hand disappeared into her pants and his fingers brushed through her already wet folds. She opend her legs a little more and turned her face to him, before she moaned again. But Ben swallowed her moan with a kiss.
While he worked Y/N up with his one hand, the other arm pressed her more into him, so that she could not escape his magical fingers. And even if she could, she was already far to gone in her passion to really leave. The pressure was getting stronger and stronger and with a couple more precise pumps of his fingers inside her she came hard and screamed her climax out. It felt so incredibly good and her legs shaked so much she wasn't sure she could stand.
"Oh god..." was all she could say.
And while she tried to stabilize herself, Ben already opened his own pants to free his aching cock. Y/N turned around to him and when she saw his fully erect dick, she hurried out of her pants and shoes. The damage was already done anyway.
"That's nice, but just call me Ben." the supe said with a cocky smile.
"Just... shut up." she answered, layed her arms back around his neck and started to kiss him again.
The kiss got more and more heated and Ben reached down with his hands to grab the back of her thighs. He picked her up and a moment later she was pressed against the wall. Her legs rested over his waist and with one strong push Ben buried his lenght balls deep inside her. Both instantly moand loud and Ben moved his hips right away in a rough and fast pace. Y/N had to grip his shoulders hard and couldn't contain her screams and moans. It just felt so good.
He worked her up to a second orgams and just befoe she fell over the cliff, Ben himself growled and bit into her shoulder. With a last deep and strong push he buried his cock to the hilt inside her, painted her inner walls white and took Y/N with him over the edge.
It felt like he reached places she herself did not know existed inside her and while she tried to calm her breath she still saw stars dancing around the room.

A/N: Ah, well. 😏 We knew they couldn't keep their hands to themselfs for long, right? 🤭 What do you think? Should we start to inculde Ben's thoughts now? 🤔 Yeah, I think we should.

c2x17 tick tick tick...
RC: ask me why I’m here KB: I ask myself that every day
Ryan’s jacket again looks like one Dirk Gently (or my gay uncle who lives in australia) would wear
She’s so right, it is not her, but since it was Heavily based on her she Should get a say in who plays her. My family has discussed this many times.
This was one of the first episodes I had seen. Actually, it was the last one I’d seen before never watching castle again because we only had four episodes on our TV. Then we got the DVD set & FINALLY I got to see the second part. Yay for two-part episodes...
MR: “you are not another man, besides, I trained you!” (so true bestie) (also, another point for the “rick castle is trans” AUs)
RC: they spell something,, they spell... Kinki :}
I love music sm. I know a fiddle song called calliope house that I can play in four keys & on any string.
Second intro ^-^ I am going to keep this post I think.
Oh right the fbi. I mean cooperation & acab & gizmos & all that good stuff.
He’s like a kid. Excited. Playing with this stuff.  Girl it is BETTER to have a machine to do the work, it is faster, it doesn’t matter.  Rick, ew, you have Nikki Heat & someone called “Rook” (which will get you killed in a chess club if you call it a “castle”) & it’s literally just RPF & you make em have sex. Come on bro, you know the BS she already deals with as a female cop in the early 00s? (& IG 2010s)
Yeah bud the animation sure works like that & it’s just that easy
Agent Shaw & Castle really are a lot like beckett & castle.
She could have said “I will come with one person as backup, I cannot come alone, but I will somewhat respect your wishes” maybe?
I like shaw. We have more people than you do, our goal is to catch the killer. You need to get some rest, I’m a mom, I know that.
“Aha, one of your old wedding videos” he says, about martha rodgers the actress fighting with a guy in a monster costume
OH NO I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART, DOES HE DROP THE BODY OUTSIDE THE DOOR? no wait I think it’s castle. She keeps her gun in a drawer? In Canada you need to have guns locked up, on the farm we would actually keep the gun but lock up the bullets. She doesn’t have it on her, she doesn’t have it locked up, she has it halfway in between?
Yeah data & gadgets are so cool & like... Granted, she does envy that he listens to shaw.
“I will have you know that I sleep with a gun” IS SHE OK? how do you even do that? Is it like bed knife from markiplier?
I like how he just made himself at home & went through her cupboards & all that. Though I’m sad she mostly orders in. It is not /so/ hard to meal prep on sundays,, at least for lunches & then you could order dinner... or maybe you make supper every night (that you are free) & take leftovers to lunch daily. It surprises me how much people don’t cook...
“there’s a body out there I need to find” comedic timing
Ryan how is that relevant??? XD XD ryan chill “what time did you & mr castle go to bed last night?”
Lanie (& literally everyone): So cute the way you do that
It’s neat seeing castle wearing normal clothing instead of his usual style
JS: Ok sweetie, Mommy has got to go arrest somebody now, I’ll be home for dinner. I love you, bye. So cute ^u^
Spoilers for the next episode: Ok but even after watching this I don’t understand. He shot the gun, where did the bullet go? The gunshot is what told the fbi to go in, & he definitely did shoot the gun, but how would it work? Ben conrad had to have been dead on the ground & set up before Scott shot. Once scott fired, he ran & hid in the hidey hole & let the pigs find the body. Where did he shoot?
two-floor apartments are so weird to me. I once stayed in a penthouse mansion in japan four times as big as the floors below, but... it was the entire floor, not double-leveled.
Ok but this trigenerational household is so great!
No but listen. When you shoot a gun or loose an arrow, you usually use the hand that correlates to your dominant eye. I’m left-eye dominant (ish) but right-handed, I learned to shoot with my right hand, & I Really Really Suck. Ben Conrad might have been mixed handed in that way, writing with his left, shooting with his right. Except for them seeing him in the window that is.
Ooh I love a landline -u-
Sure bestie cuz that’s how it worked.
I actually just remembered, I DID see another episode after this on network TV, but it was way in the future & beckett said “I still don’t have a house” & I’m like ‘so she did survive & her home did get blown up, huh’

*****
Tally marks and nail clippings lined the edges of the basement. The window at the far corner allowed some light into the room, just enough to see him twitch and shiver.
You could hear the wind howling, cars racing past. The city was bustling, unaware of what was going on.
The red smears on the grey wall guided your eyes to the fragile body. The cardboard boxes and metal shelves making him look vulnerable, like a deer caught in headlights.
There lay abandoned, bruised and battered in a pool of blood, your brother.
Jay lifted his head, allowing you to see his watery red eyes. For the first time in your life, you saw fear in your brother's eyes— pure, crisp and burning fear.
He had cuts littered all over his face, blood seeping out of the broken skin. You watched how it mixed with sweat as it made it's way down his cheek.
His arms were tied to the wall, the hard rope tugging at his skin, drawing blood .
You jolted hearing footsteps behind you, as a large shadow came into view.
The man was as tall as the ceiling, towering over you.
His muscles bulged from his arms, shoulders squared with confidence.
Half of his face was burned , the dead skin masking his wicked smile.
Your breath hitched as he took out his gun, aiming it at Jay. The world came to a stand still, your body going into flight mode.
You ran towards Jay, throwing your arms around his neck, "NO!!PLEASE DONT HURT HIM!!PLEASE!!" you wailed, as you sat beside your brother, trying your best to shield him from the gunman.
"Oh, I'm sorry—" he mocked, inching his way towards you,"—I'm afraid your brother has run out of time" he clicked his tongue, shaking his head in disaproval.
You paled at his words. The air around you came to a halt, as his finger moved to the trigger. Your grip on Jay tightened.
Tears rolled down your cheeks, as you tucked your head into the crook of Jay's neck, firmly shutting your eyes.
You were helpless. You had no one to call and no way of saving Jay .
You had one job to do— to keep Jay safe— and you failed.
He didn't deserve this. Your brother had helped thousands of people. And saved hundreds of lives.
He didn't deserve to die.
You didn't know what happened first. You screamt, your tiny body pushing all the air out of your lungs, as the sound of the gunshot bounced off the walls.
The loud bang sent tremors through your bones and in an instant, you felt someone's strong arms around you, manhandling you away from jay.
No, no, no... you had to try to save your brother. What—what if he dies? What if he doesn't make it?god, this is all your fault.
You left out a strangled cry, trying to free yourself from the tight hold. You kicked and punched with whatever energy you had left.
"Y/n!! Y/n!!—" Oh god , he knew your name. How did he know your name? He would come and find you."—Hey , hey, it's okay ..... it's okay , y/n—" Will ? What was he doing here? Was he in trouble too? "—wake up.... Hey , open your eyes for me" Will said, sitting on your bed.
His voice was calm and soothing. You felt your heart rate slow down, letting your body take deeper breaths.
You slowly opened your eyes, shaking your head,"Jay —Will —Jay's hurt—" You sobbed, as you wrapped your arms around Will's neck "—I— I couldn't do anything"
"Hey , it's okay. Jay's okay , y/n. he's fine" Will sighed.
Today was Jay's first day back to work. Almost a week ago he had gotten shot while chasing a suspect. He took one to the shoulder and had lost a lot of blood by the time he came to Med.
The image of him stopping you from running into the OR, was vividly ingrained into his mind. He remembered holding you close and rubbing your back in the doctor's lounge, as you cried to yourself. The two of you spent the night at the hospital, waiting for Jay to wake up.
And just yesterday, Jay had been cleared for desk duty.
"Jay's stuck at work but he'll be home soon alright?" he said, pulling away from your grip.
You knew Will was just trying to comfort you.
You knew that Jay was strong. He was one of the strongest people you knew.
But you couldn't shake off the weird feeling you had. Fear lurked in the shadows. A silent voice at the back of your mind.
"What if he gets hurt again?" you asked, voice shaking with dread. '' what if—''
"Hey ,hey—" Will quickly interrupted, not wanting you to finish your thoughts "—Jay's gonna be okay. He's always going to come back home to us y/n, always.
No matter what happens at work, he's still our Jay. He's still our brother. He's always gonna come back to watch movies with us. He's gonna help you pick costumes for Halloween and braid your hair and tuck you in bed. And he'll come back to us okay? No matter what."
Jay did promise that he'd always come back, and as far as you could remember —Jay never broke his promises.
You slowly nodded and wiped your tears away. You felt a little guilty as you realized that Will was just in his sweatpants.
"Did I wake you up?"
"It's all right."
"You wanna tell me about the dream you had?" He asked after a minute.
"Maybe ....... but can I sleep with you? Just until Jay comes back?"
You didn't want to be alone. You knew that once you closed your eyes, the man would be back, and just like last time you wouldn't be able to save Jay.
"Sure, come on." Will said, as he held out his hand for you to take.
"Jay won't get hurt, right?" you asked, doubt still clouding your mind.
" What did I tell you? No matter what happens, he'll come home."
" Yea ... it's just that Jay doesn't really like hospitals
and I think he's kinda scared of shots"
Will laughed as the two of you entered his bedroom. He would never get used to Jay being so afraid of needles.
He patted the bed and you climbed up tucking yourself under the covers. Will join you after putting a shirt on and switching off the lights.
You snuggled into him resting your head on his chest.
" Are you okay?" Will asked quietly, noting the firm grip you had on his shirt.
"He — he had a gun" You frowned, recalling the horrifying nightmare "He was —he was going to kill Jay" Your breath hitched, the scene still fresh in your mind, like it was yesterday.
You could feel Jay shiver beneath your touch. He was struggling to keep his eyes open.
You were drenched in silence except for his ragged breaths. It was like you could feel the pain he was in.
You flinched hearing a lock turn. Your eyes snapped open, fear overriding your thoughts.
" Hey , hey, it's okay—" Will soothed "—it's just Jay. He's back. He's home"
A huge wave of relief washed over you "Come on, I wanna see him!" you exclaimed, crawling over Will only to step on him in the place between his legs, eliciting a groan from him.
You jumped off the bed heading towards the living room and Will followed you after trying to breathe through the pain "Y/n!!"
Jay closed the door but immediately turned around hearing your footsteps.
His wounds were slowly healing, his left arm was still in a sling and his ribs needed to be wrapped every other day. And after Will's relentless begging, he'd even agreed to therapy with Doctor Charles. All in all he was trying to put his injury behind him.
"Jay!!" you cried as you lept into his arms. He picked you up by only using his right arm, grunting when he put pressure on his ribs.
You rested your head against his shoulder, hugging him tighter . Jay hissed, the muscles in his shoulder were still sore after the surgery.
You immediately pulled back," Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you"
" It's okay kiddo, it's okay" he assured, making use of the breathing exercises he was thought during his army days.
" What are you doing up so late anyway?" he asked, looking at Will.
" She had a nightmare"
Jay sighed. He was almost expecting this.
You were so worried at the hospital, never leaving his side. Will had to drag you out of the room when it was time to eat.
He remembered how you sat next to him on the bed, tracing his bruises and cuts on his cheeks, with your fingertips.
No matter how much Will reassured you that he was fine, you insisted on staying in the hospital.
He could sense that even at your age, you were smart enough to figure out that his job was dangerous.
"I'm here, okay? I'm right here. and you know what.... you can sleep with me tonight. That sound good ?"
You nodded, wanting to stay close to him to make sure he was safe.
Soon , you were waiting in Jay's bed, under his weighted blanket.
Will had wrapped his ribs and cleaned some of his smaller cuts. He helped Jay maneuver into a new shirt while he placed the sling back into its original position and insisted that he get a morphine shot to ease his pain.
Jay stumbled into the room, slowly laying beside you, adjusting himself into a comfortable position.
"C'mere " he said, opening his arm as you shifted next to him, being careful to not hurt him.
A few minutes of silence passed before Jay spoke up.
"I'll be okay, y/n. I'll get better"
You looked at him skeptically, "and then you'll go back to work" You accused. You couldn't imagine what life would be like if Jay died. You didn't want to live in a world where you only had one brother. "and then you'll get hurt again"
The thought of going back to the hospital drove you crazy. You hated the plain white walls and the smell of bleach. You couldn't stand the noises of all those machines you never understood the purpose of.
But the worst of them all was the image of your brother lying on the gurney . You could barely recognize him with all the cuts and bruises and blood he had on his face.
That wasn't your Jay. No , it couldn't be. The real Jay was strong. Was alive. Not laying in a hospital bed, bandaged up and covered in bruises.
No , what you were looking at was the shell of the great man your brother was. The real Jay didn't have so many tubes sticking out of him. He didn't have so many wires plunged into his arms.
" I don't like your job. Do you really have to work?" you looked at him with pleading eyes but some part of you already knew the answer "I don't know what you're doing all day..... and— and I don't know if you're safe!" you tried to argue.
And now more than ever, you never believed he would be safe. He could be in danger with a gun pointed at him..... and you would never know. You would be blissfully unaware of your brother's body hitting the ground.
You would be your happy self. Writing your notes or playing at school.
And you would never know. That shadow of doubt and fear lurked beneath you, threatening to devour you. It was very possible, that one day when you came from school Jay would be gone.
"Hey, hey, look at me." his voice was quiet but stern "you've met Hailey. and Adam and Kevin. and Kim and Vanessa. They all love you, you know that right?" you nodded not understanding how they were connected to Jay being safe "They know that I need to come back home. They know that you will be waiting for me, so they'll keep me safe out there. They'll have my back"
You loved Jay's friends. Hailey and Kim and Vanessa had girl's nights and sometimes they would let you join. And Adam and Kevin were basically your brothers.
You remembered how none of them left Med when Jay was shot and how they sat together in the waiting room until Jay came out of surgery.
But one question lingered on your mind "Then why didn't they keep you safe from getting shot?"
Your words were like a punch to the gut to Jay. He stiffened recalling Hailey's questioning look she threw his way when he walked out of their active crime scene. He remembered her voice calls asking him where he was, and the pang of guilt he felt in his stomach when he lied to her.
"That wasn't their fault y/n. I made a mistake" that almost took me away from you went unsaid, "I didn't tell them I was in danger.........but I should have. I know that now. And what does Will say about making mistakes?"
" That making mistakes are okay, but you have to learn from them?" you recited what your brother had thought you.
" Exactly . I made a mistake and I learned from it. So from now onwards I'll tell my team everything, and they will have my back "
It was like a huge weight was lifted off your shoulders. Maybe it was okay that you weren't always there with Jay. His friends would protect him.
"And you know my team....... they're like my second family. That means they're your family too. So they have your back aswell" he smiled, as he tickled you lightly, making you laugh.
" Yeah , I guess so"
" But you know a lot of people don't have families or friends to keep them safe. That's why I go to work and do my job. I keep people safe. And even if they're strangers, my duty is to keep them safe"
Your eyes widened in realization as you understood the true meaning of his job, looking at him with what could only be described as pure admiration.
" Just like Will and I , the whole of intelligence will keep you safe"
"Really ? All of intelligence?" you asked, surprised.
"Yes , really!" he laughed "I'll be safe y/n. We both are going to be safe 'cause we have a lot of people looking out for us"
He tucked you in closer to him, as you curled into a ball. His arm engulfed you in its warmth and safety, almost like a bubble from your thoughts.
Will was right. Jay was your brother and no matter what happens, he would always come back home to you. You were almost asleep when you felt Jay press a kiss to your head. "I love you" he said but his voice cracked.
Unlike you, Jay knew the truth. There were only so many promises he could keep, and there were only so many lies he could tell you. And lying to you just about this one thing— so that you wouldn't worry so much—was okay.
His job being dangerous was an understatement. Jay knew that he was a simple pawn, in the grand scheme of the universe.
He knew that one day, he would have to think about his mortality, but today was not that day. Not when his little sister was lying next to him, scared of a nightmare which was actually a glimpse into reality. No . today was not the day to think about the inevitable— the simple fact that one morning, he would walk out those doors and never return.
He held you a little tighter, a little closer.

Devil’s Advocate (Tenet) Neil x Reader
Chapter 2: I’ll Try Anything Once
A/N: Hi guys! So this sort of feels like a filler chapter, but I hope you still all enjoy it :) And ps...this chapter is based on I’ll Try Anything Once by Julian Casablancas (it’s derived from one of the Strokes’ demos I think)
Summary: You and Neil land in London to some majorly unfortunate circumstances that are too overwhelming for you to handle, but Neil is done letting you get hurt.
Warnings: Death, guns, gunshot wounds, explosions, violence/murder (implied more or less), cursing, minor angst maybe, and yay fluff!
Word Count: 4,191
Tumblr media
“Hey,” A voice whispers softly; the familiar sound encourages you to lift your eyelids. “(Y/N), we’re about to land,” The voice whispers again as you feel yourself slowly rocking back and forth. You groggily open your eyes.
The cabin of the plane is dark except for a few scattered overhead reading lights. You notice that your head is still resting against Neil’s chest as his warm hold envelopes you, keeping you pressed tightly against him. A tickle twitches in your stomach as you feel the plane drop down closer to the ground. The tickle quickly turns to terror as you remember where you’re headed. You feel your heart rapidly beat in your chest. You take a deep breath, hoping to suppress your paralyzing fears of being back out in the field.
Neil’s calming voice grounds you. “Are you alright?” He asks, his arms tightening around you. The airplane drops some more, causing the tickle in your stomach to continue.
“I’m not sure,” You respond honestly as you try and swallow your fear in your throat. Of course, it doesn’t work. The airplane drops again, and you pull slightly away from Neil to look out the window. Lights twinkle below you, and you can see Heathrow Airport in the near distance.
The seat creaks a bit as Neil moves closer to you. His cheek brushes up against yours as he peers out the window. His closeness was comforting.
Neil sighs. “I know you don’t want to be here, (Y/N),” Neil says as his right arm wraps around your shoulders again, stealing your attention away from the lights of the towns below.  “But it’s going to be okay. We’ll get in, get what we need, get rid of who we don’t, and get out.” He shoots a smirk in your direction.
The plane grows even closer to the ground but the tickles disappear, and nausea fills your stomach. “I think I’m going to be sick,” You complain. Anxiety courses through your veins, worsening your current state.
Neil, with his arm still around your shoulders, shakes his head and pulls you away from the window. “You’re not throwing up here,” He says, chuckling a bit. “Or I’ll be doubled over with you.” You find yourself laughing too, but it’s no surprise. That’s simply what Neil does to you. He makes everything seem like it could be…
Okay.
You were too wrapped up in thoughts of Neil to notice when the wheels of the plane came crashing on the ground. The sound of skid marks screeching against the tarmac gave way for the anxiety to settle back down into your stomach. You shudder, imagining all the things that could go wrong. All the stupid little things that could go horribly, horribly wrong.
You watch as everyone begins to stand up from their seats, walking out into the aisle and grabbing their things from the overhead compartments. Neil gives you a final squeeze before letting go and following suit with the rest of the people on the plane. You look back out the window for a second, contemplating whether or not being in Tenet is worth it at all. There’s so much danger, so much death, so much fear.
And my own father is the enemy, You think.
“Are you ready, love?” Neil calls, breaking you out of your thoughts.
You shrug and stand up from the seat, hunching over ever so slightly as to not smack your head against the ceiling. “I don’t think I’ll ever be, so I might as well just jump without looking, right?”
Neil smiles sadly, almost as if to apologize. “Then I’ll be ready for you, and I’ll catch you when you fall.”
Your heart flutters in your chest at his reassurance, despite the sardonic nature of your comment. “Neil I-,” You say, carefully stepping out into the aisle. “You have no idea how much that means to me.”
“Don’t thank me,” Neil starts, seemingly minimizing his ability to change your entire mood. “This is what friends are for.”
Right, friends.
Neil guides you out of the plane and onto the bridge. After a short walk, you enter the airport.
It’s a ghost town. Some people are sleeping, slumped over in uncomfortable, stiff chairs waiting for their flight. You had forgotten that the time had changed. You look down at your phone to see that your New York time zone has already been switched to London’s.
3:56 AM
It only takes a few shuffles out to the main concourse for you to recognize how exhausted you are in spite of your ability to sleep on the plane. After all, that had been the most sleep you had gotten since the…accident.
You and Neil walk in silence for a while. It isn’t an awkward silence. It’s the comfortable, relaxing kind. It’s the kind of silence shared by two people who don’t need to talk to share how much they enjoy the other’s company. You take in all the shops and food stores as an attempt to keep yourself distracted from the terror of the mission.
You step onto an escalator, and your attention finally lands on Neil’s face. You had studied it a million times, as odd as that sounds, but you couldn’t help it. You liked looking at him. You liked getting confirmation that he was in fact real and was in fact with you.
“Hey,” You finally speak up. “Aren’t we in your hometown now?”
You watch as Neil’s cheeks lift and the corners of his mouth turn up. “Yeah,” He says back. “I guess we are.” His eyes rest on yours for a second before they flicker down to your lips. It catches you off guard, but the moment is gone just as soon as it begins as you’re forced to step off the escalator. You enter the baggage claim area and head straight towards the exit of the airport.
Conveniently waiting outside the doors is a black town car. You look to Neil, making sure it’s the right one. Neil nods, silently confirming that this is a part of the plan. You open the door and plop onto the seat. You hear Neil open and close the trunk before he takes his spot next to you in the car.
“We live in a twilight world,” Neil says. But there’s no answer.
You clear your throat nervously, reaching underneath your black, baggy, menswear dress pants, clutching onto the small revolver tied against your calf. “He said, we live in a twilight world.”
There’s no answer again. You take the revolver out, aiming it at the man. You look over at Neil and notice that his shirt is undone; he had already taken his gun out. He always kept it under his shirt, attached to his chest. He hunches over, slowly moving towards the man through the center console.
The man’s hat is titled over his forehead. Neil takes it off.
Neil parts his lips. “Fuck,” His voice is shallow. “He’s dead. He’s got a bullet in the center of his forehead,” There’s a panic in Neil’s voice.  He looks up to the windshield, and you follow his gaze. There’s no point of entry, no shattered glass.
“So someone else has already been here,” You remark. Neil’s eyes widen as he moves the man’s shirt over a bit.
That’s when the light beeping noise starts.
“SHIT!” Neil screams. “Get out of the car! NOW!” He opens the door on your side of the car and practically shoves you out. You stumble, barely able to catch your balance when your feet hit the ground. Neil sprints to the trunk, opening it up and grabbing the luggage.
You follow behind him, tugging on his arm, trying to pull him away. “The luggage, really?” You shout in disbelief.
Neil secures both bags in his right hand, and grabs your wrist with his left. You both break out into a sprint. “We need to take cover,” Neil says in between breaths, his eyes frantically searching around the taxi area. “Do you see-,”
BOOM!
“FUCK!” Neil yells, practically tripping over his feet as the concrete vibrates violently below. He catches his balance just before he can face plant into the ground.
The car explodes behind you. The heat of the flames radiate on your back. You don’t dare look behind you; you keep running.
You and Neil finally reach a parking lot, and stop for a break.
“What the hell was that?” You whisper, angrily grabbing Neil by the collar and bringing him in between two minivans for cover, just in case anyone had followed you or was planning to attack.
Neil grabs your waist in return, brining you even closer to him. Your breath hitches in your throat as you realize how close you are to him. “They must know we’re here,” Neil says. His eyes are still wide and his breathing is still heavy.
“And the suitcases?” You question with heavy concern, and even frustration, in your voice. “Do you not have firefighters come into your elementary schools in England? Do you not get taught that stuff can be replaced and human beings can’t be?” Your whisper turns into more of an angry shout.
Neil shakes his head in disapproval. “There are explosives in my suitcase, (Y/N). If they detonated we would be dead,” He says, panic still evident in his voice, and a bit of anger as well.
You nod, loosening your grip on his collar. “I’m sorry I just,” You pause, knowing full well what had just come over you. “I just didn’t want anything to happen to you, that’s all.” You feel your eyes becoming glossy. This was the very thing you were afraid of. You were almost blown to bits, and worse than that, Neil could’ve died. The mission was already failing, and it hadn’t even truly started yet.
You shut your eyes tightly, and a few tears roll down your cheeks.
Neil swallows hard, his arms still resting on your waist. “No, I’m sorry. You didn’t know. I shouldn’t have jumped down your throat like that.” Neil pulls you into an embrace.
“It’s okay,” You mumble quietly into his chest.
You let him hold you in silence for a few moments. You needed to process things. You needed to ground yourself. You needed this second with Neil.
You feel yourself dozing off a bit in Neil’s arms. Visions of a bed with a plush comforter and satin sheets play over in your head. It had to be almost 4:30 in the morning at this point.
“How are we going to get to the hotel?” You ask, longing for a good night’s sleep. “And what if they know what hotel we’re staying in?”
Neil pulls apart from you and reaches into his pocket to grab his phone. “I’ll call TP and figure out what we’re supposed to do.” Neil types in his passcode, presses on the screen a few times, and lifts his phone up to his ear.
You look up into the night sky to distract yourself. The stars twinkle lightly, but there’s too much light pollution to get a good look. The cold wind nips at you roughly. You turn to face Neil. He’s pacing back and forth about twenty feet away from you. You try and tune into what he’s saying.
“They fucking know we’re here, what am I supposed to do?” The frustration in his voice is clear. He waits for a response.
“Yeah, she’s alright I guess, but you shouldn’t have forced her out into the field this early,” He pauses again. “No I don’t care that you’re the boss, she wasn’t ready when she left this afternoon and she definitely isn’t ready now!”
Silence, and then another sentence. “No, I’m not letting my feelings get in the way, that’s not what this is.”
Feelings?
“I mean of course it’s because I care about her, you know how I feel…” He trails off, and walks a bit farther away from you. What he says next, you can’t hear.
After a few seconds, he starts to walk back, still keeping a bit of a distance. “Alright, we’ll head over there now,” Neil looks up at you and winks, confirming that there’s some sort of plan set in place.
Neil turns his back to you. “And I swear to God,” He whispers, thinking you can’t hear him, “If she dies, I’m going to kill you.”
A shiver rolls down your spine at his words. You knew Neil cared about you, but you didn’t know he would threaten TP for you, even if it was just a sarcastic threat.
But this wasn’t a joke.
“Yeah okay. Thanks,” Neil says finally. “Talk to you later.” He takes the phone away from his ear and presses the red button to hang up. He walks back over to you. You’re still overwhelmed by what Neil had said on the phone, but you push those thoughts to the back of your head.
You yawn listlessly. “So what’s going to happen?” You ask, ready to crash to the ground in exhaustion.
Neil smiles. He picks up the luggage in his right hand again, and points to the other side of the parking lot. You notice a separate lot filled with rental cars. “TP put in a favor and we’re getting our own car. Looks like you’ll have to deal with my driving.”
You can’t help but smile back at him. You didn’t mind Neil’s driving at all, to be honest. You felt safe when Neil drove. But then again, you felt safe with Neil no matter what he did.
“It’s just on the other side of the lot,” Neil reassures. You roll your eyes at the thought of more walking, but you figured it may be a good time to talk about what you had just heard Neil say on the phone.
Before you can think of something to say, Neil loops his left arm around your waist. His fingers settle on the exposed skin underneath your oversized blazer. Your nerves tingle underneath his touch, and any thoughts you had before disappear from your mind.
After a few seconds, you force yourself to think back to the phone call. “Neil? Can I ask you something?”
“Anything,” Neil says back, smiling down at you.
“The phone call you just had, with TP,” You pause, trying to find the right words.
Neil shakes his head. “Whatever you heard, don’t worry about it, please. I know what I’m doing,” He pauses and pulls you closer to him. "You don’t need to worry about me. I’ll be alright. ” You’re not entirely content with his answer, but it’s enough for now.
After a five minute walk, you finally reach the rental lot. Neil walks over to the man inside of the tiny cube shaped building. You can’t hear what he’s saying, but a set of keys are exchanged, and Neil motions for you to follow him. You begrudgingly pick up your pace to catch up with him.
“What kind of car is it?” You ask. Neil presses the panic button once, and the headlights of a black, Porsche 911 flash across your face.
You go to get into the car, approaching the door on your left hand side, forgetting you’re now in Europe. Neil smirks at you, grabs your hand, and brings you to the other side of the car. He sets the luggage down on the ground, and opens your door, letting you slip inside. Normally, you would have a cheeky response to Neil opening the door for you, but you were too tired now. Neil grabs the luggage, and walks around the other side of the car. He opens his door and puts the luggage in the back seat.
Neil puts the key into the ignition and starts the car. He takes out his phone, and through your blurry vision, you watch as he slides his finger around.
“What are you doing?” You ask. Your voice is barely above a whisper and it’s filled with tiredness. “Just drive,” You order sarcastically, nudging Neil with your elbow.  Your sarcasm melts away when you remember the gravity of the situation. “What if they’re already here? What if they’re looking for us?”
Neil puts his phone in the cupholder, and rests his hand on your thigh. “I’m just setting up the GPS and choosing some music, love,” Neil says. “Take a deep breath. TP just arranged for us to stay at a different hotel, and he has eyes and ears everywhere. We’ll be alright.”
Ten decisions shape your life,
You’ll be aware of 5 about,
7 ways to go to school,
Either you’re noticed or left out.
“I love this song,” You say, struggling to keep your eyes open.
“I know,” Neil says. “Try to sleep, I’ll wake you up when we get there.” His voice is calming, and you almost do as he says, but you remember where you are. You wanted to look at the city. You wanted to see it before all the chaos began. You had been to London plenty of times before, but leaving the United States still excited you, even though you were rarely there at all anymore.
When I said "I can see me in your eyes,”
You said "I can see you in my pants,”
That's not just friendship that's romance too.
You like music we can dance to.
The highway goes on for a while, looking reminiscent of highways in America. Grass and trees line the black concrete. There’s no light save for a few street lamps. Each time you start to doze off, you force yourself to wake up. The feeling of Neil’s thumb drawing circles on your thigh doesn’t make it too hard.
Sit me down,
Shut me up,
I'll calm down,
And I'll get along with you.
The trees melt into industrial areas. Car dealerships, stores, apartments, hotels. And finally, after a few more minutes, you’ve hit Central London. The lights are bright and the buildings are beautiful.
Don't don't don't don't it's not safe no more,
I've got to see you one more time.
Neil pulls into a parking garage and finds an open spot. “We’re here,” He says, squeezing your thigh lightly.
You unbuckle your seat belt, carefully open the door, and slide out of the car. Neil grabs the two duffle bags and gets out after you. You head inside the hotel, and Neil checks in. He grabs the keycard and ushers you into the elevator.
The second you enter the lift, worry fills Neil’s face. His brows furrow and he shuts his eyes as he lets his head hit the wall behind him.
“Neil?” You ask. “What’s going on?” Maybe it was the jet lag, or maybe it was the exhaustion, but you feel more confident than usual. You step towards him and grab his hands in yours.
Neil takes a deep breath. “I’m so sorry we’re here,” He says, his eyes still closed, as if he’s too guilty to face you. “I didn’t want to do the mission yet. I really wanted to wait. I know you aren’t ready yet. I just-,”
You wrap your arms around Neil, and hold him tightly against your body. “I’ll be alright Neil, I promise.” His arms wrap around your body in response. You pull away from him slightly, your heart beating rapidly in your chest. You look up into his eyes, down to his lips, and back into his eyes again. Neil brings his face closer to yours, so close that you can feel his breath against your lips.
“(Y/N), I need to-,”
The conversation is interrupted by the dinging of the elevator and the giggles of a drunken couple as they step inside.
The woman speaks up. “Sssorry for interrupting, loves,” She slurs, cackling a bit. Her boyfriend joins in and cackles with her. Neil politely smiles and nods. He picks up the luggage yet again with one hand, grabbing your wrist with the other. He pulls you outside the elevator and into the hallway.
Your heart is still beating wildly in your chest. “Neil, you had something you needed to say?”
But the moment is over. He shakes his head. “We can talk about it some other time, I don’t want to overwhelm you. Enough has happened tonight.” Your heart sinks in your chest. Neil swallows, glancing back over towards the elevator. “And those people seemed off. We should really get inside the room.” You nod, agreeing, and allow Neil to take hold of your hand and guide you down the hall to the suite.
You finally approach the room.
505.
“This is us,” Neil says, setting the luggage on the ground to swipe the keycard. The door unlocks, and Neil press down on the handle. You enter the dully lit room, and immediately flop onto the king bed. Neil smirks at you from the doorway.
He walks inside, and you sigh in relief. “This is so nice,” You murmur, sliding your black converse off your feet. You push yourself further onto the bed so that your head rests on a pillow.
“We should probably shower,” Neil says, crossing the room. He places the duffle bags on the desk by the window. He takes his suit jacket off.
You chuckle. “What, like, together?” You erupt into laughter. There was something about being so unbelievably tired and jet lagged that made you a completely different person. It was like being drunk.
Neil shakes his head and smiles widely. “If that’s what you want,” He retorts.
Oh? Is he flirting with me? He can’t be.
“I-I think I’m t-too tired for a shower a-at all,” You stutter, not sure what else to say.
“Me too,” Neil says. He begins to undo the buttons of his white dress shirt one by one. Suddenly, his chest is completely exposed. You feel heat rising to your cheeks.
He undoes his belt, unzips his fly, and steps out of his trousers. He’s only wearing his boxers now. You had seen him like this a million times, but it still caught you by surprise. He walks over to the other side of the bed, grabs a pillow, and drops it on the ground. He grabs the throw blanket at the edge of the bed and drops it on the ground as well.
You furrow your brows, confused by his actions. “What are you doing?” You ask.
Neil’s blue gaze meets yours. “Setting up camp,” He jokes, sending a smile your way.
You breathe deeply, still riding out on the confidence that being sleep deprived gave you. “Why don’t you sleep in the bed with me?”
Neil inhales sharply. “I don’t want to bother you. You’re exhausted.”
“I think I’d sleep better if you were with me, actually.” You let the words come right out, no regrets. “You make me feel safe, Neil,” You confess.
Neil smiles and bends down, grabbing the pillow and the blanket, placing them back on the bed. He lifts the covers and slides in. You get underneath the covers too. You don’t realize how close you are to Neil until you turn onto your side to face him.
“I’m glad I make you feel safe, (Y/N),” Neil finally responds. Your heart feels like it might burst. You and Neil had shared a bed in the past, but you had only ever been this close inside of one a handful of times before. “You have no idea how much I care about you.”
“You have no idea how much I care about you, Neil,” You say.
Neil pushes himself up a bit, and presses a kiss against your forehead. You’re stunned. “Goodnight, (Y/N),” Neil says, and he reaches over to turn off the lamp next to his nightstand. The room goes pitch black.
“Goodnight, Neil,” You say. Neil turns over to the other side and you do the same. You stay like that for a few minutes, before tossing and turning a few times. Seconds ago you were comfortable, and now you weren’t.
As you laid alone in your thoughts, your anxieties all began to flood back to you. How the fuck am I going to do this? How is this mission going to turn out? This is going to be absolutely impossible. What if something happens to Neil? Your mind races with thoughts. You turn a few more times before you feel a hand on your waist.
“I thought you were exhausted,” Neil snickers.
“I am but-,”
Neil cuts you off. “But that doesn’t stop your mind from racing?”
You turn around to face him. “Unfortunately, no.”
Neil wraps his arms around you, and pulls you into his bare chest. “Is this okay?” He asks.
“Y-yes,” You stutter, pressing your face into the center of his chest.
And finally, for the first night in over a month, you were able to sleep, nightmare free.
So why not try it all,
If you only remember it once?
Sit me down,
Shut me up,
I'll calm down,
And I'll get along with you.

ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT NINE TEN ELEVEN
You groaned as, once again, you awoke sick for the fourth day.
It had been impossible to keep your breakfast down of late, and more often than not you spent most of the morning with your head in a bucket. You blamed the one week old pizza you had a week before.
That morning, Donghyuck made you your favourite breakfast before leaving with Jeno and you couldn't even have a bite. You were going to throw up again.
“Love, did I leave my phone here? I can't find it anywhere…” You heard him.
Another wave of nausea caught you, and you threw your head into the toilet. You coughed, tears in your eyes as the voice got closer. The dry heaving was almost more unpleasant than the vomiting, you lamented, leaving your throat sore and your voice hoarse.
“I am not dressed yet!” You called, not technically lying, as your pajamas clung to your body with sweat.
“I think we are past all that,” he laughed, pushing the door open.
You adjusted your pajasm as he searched, sensing the rush he was in from his near ignoring of you. "I swear I left it here before I took a shower."
He finally found it atop the mantlepiece, and turned to make a comment on it, when he noticed your appearance.
“Good god, are you okay?”
“Fine. A little nauseous, is all.”
He rushed over to you
“I think I have the stomach flu, perhaps. Stay back.”
“I likely already have it, if it is that,” he smiled. “So there is no further harm.”
"Seriously," you whined. "I don't want you to get sick."
"Are you sure you're okay? You look palid," he cupped your face.
You nodded. "Go. Jeno must be waiting for you."
Donghyuck sighed and placed a kiss on your forehead. "If by tomorrow you don't look better I'm taking you to the hospital, okay?"
"Yes, sir."
Your body ached, more so than when you were PMSing. But not every month was the same, so you thought the pill was doing its secondary effects. You grabbed your birth control pill case and before taking it, you checked your last case and realised you missed a few. You cursed.
You stared at the rows upon rows of pregnancy tests. Did women actually know which one to take? Was it common knowledge knowing which one was the best? You sighed and rubbed your eyes. You were probably overreacting. You grabbed the pink one off the shelf. It wasn’t the cheapest one, but it was a brand you remembered from commercials. You stopped by the snack stand and picked up a bar of your peanut butter and chocolate. You always hated peanut butter. Shit. You dropped the bar chocolate and sat down on the counter. The woman at the checkout rang them through and gave you the total.
You held up your bank card, “Credit.”
She nodded and pressed the button. You inserted the card into the machine, went through the motions of inputting your password and checking the account type.
“Would you like a bag?” The woman asked as you waited for the transaction to clear.
You shook your head, “No thank you.”
She handed you the two items and the receipt. You dropped them down into your purse. You exited the drug store and stood on the street corner for a minute. You couldn’t do this alone. You needed some guidance. You pulled your phone out of your pocket and texted Lena.
Can I call you? You pressed send and began walking home.
You recounted the last few times you and Donghyuck had sex. You ran your fingers through your hair, so many times. Your phone rang in your hand and Lena's caller ID showed up.
You smiled, “Hey girl.”
“You’re pregnant, aren’t you?” She cut right to the chase.
You thought about lying, just to spite her but you two knew each other so well that it wasn’t a surprise that she’d picked up on your worries early on.
“I bought a test.” You explained.
She squealed into the phone and you had to pull it away while she freaked out. You laughed at her reaction. Your nerves settle the tiniest bit. She already had Minah. She knew exactly what to expect. You unlocked your front door and lined it for the couch.
“Ok.” She settled in as you entered your house, “Take the test right now.”
You shook your head, “Isn’t it better to take it in the morning? I swear I heard that somewhere before.”
“Pff if you’re pregnant it doesn’t matter what time of day you take the test.” She explained.
You rolled your eyes, of course she knew best, she was a doctor and a mom after all.
“How am I supposed to pee on a stick and hold the phone at the same time?” You joked.
You heard a door shut on her end, “Put the phone down, pee on the stick and come back.”
You groaned. What if you really were pregnant? You were happy but scared at the same time. This wasn’t something you’ve ever had to deal with.
“Alright.” You said.
You placed the phone down on the table and pulled the test out of your purse. You went into the bathroom, ripped the box open, ignored the instructions and made sure that the bristles were in place. You frowned, this was almost as awkward as peeing in a cup.
You placed the phone down on the table and pulled the test out of your purse. You went into the bathroom, ripped the box open, ignored the instructions and made sure that the bristles were in place. You frowned, this was almost as awkward as peeing in a cup. A shiver ran down your spine as you felt weird about the whole thing. Lena was willingly waiting for you to pee on a stick. You set the test on the corner of the sink, finished your business and pulled up your pants. You pushed the cap over the bristled part of the test and then washed your hands. You grabbed the instructions and test as you went back to the living room. You glanced at the clock. It was only 10:30 in the morning. Donghyuck wouldn’t be home for another few hours.
You picked up the phone, “It’s done.”
“Yay!” Lena laughed. “Have you thought about how you’re going to tell Donghyuck?”
You shrugged, “No. I don’t even know if this is real yet. I could just be overreacting.”
“You wouldn’t have called me if you thought this was a false alarm.” She stated.
You groaned, “Ugh.”
Why was she always right? She laughed again. She distracted you with mindless prattle while you waited the three minutes for the test to finish. You left it sitting on the coffee table, upside down because you still didn’t know if you were prepared for the outcome.
“Three minutes.” Lena announced.
You took a deep breath and gingerly picked up the test. You flipped it over and creased your eyebrows in confusion.
“Uh – it has one solid line and one really faint one.” You told her.
You pulled out the instructions pamphlet and began scanning through. It mentioned that two solid lines mean pregnant but it made no mention of a solid first line and faint second one. Were all the tests this finicky?
“That’s exactly what it looked like when I was pregnant with Minah.” She advised.
You shook your head, “This doesn’t make any sense. The booklet distinctly says that you have to have two solid lines. Not one solid and one barely there.”
She chuckled at your denial, “Y/N you’re pregnant.”
“That’s not what the booklet says!” You fought back.
“You’re pregnant.” Lena said again.
You paused and then all the excitement of being pregnant caught up with you. Tears formed at your eyes.
“I’m pregnant.” You whispered. “I'm pregnant!” You screamed. “Oh my god. Oh my god! How am I going to tell Hyuck?"
“Do something cute, like put the test in a pan and put the pan in the oven.” Lena offered, “Symbolically tell him you have a ‘bun in the oven.’”
You burst into laughter, “Isn’t that sort of stuff reserved for people planning on these things? This wasn’t exactly on our list of to-dos.”
You both broke into giggles. This was absurd and exhilarating all at once. You never expected to ever be a parent. It wasn’t something you thought you had in you. Now that you were pregnant, and with Donghyuck, you’d never felt more ready. The two of you could do this.
You took a deep breath and then blew it out through tight lips, “He’s not going to be home until after 7. I can’t wait that long.”
“Mull it over. He loves you, remember that.” She gave me a minor pep talk, “Oh, and guys handle these things differently. Don’t forget that.”
You nodded, “Alright. Thanks Lena.”
“No problem. You have to call me and tell me how he reacts.” She demanded.
I laughed at her, “I will.”
“Alright girl, I’ve got to go. I’ve been paged five times now.” She spoke swiftly and then hung up.
You dropped your phone down onto the coffee table and turned the TV on. You had no idea how you were going to tell Donghyuck. This was definitely not something either of you had talked about.
(...)
He’d been home for at least an hour now. The two of you were just sitting on the couch, watching TV. You couldn’t concentrate on the show because there was so much going on in your mind. Your face was hot and a blush was covering your entire body. You had no idea why but you felt embarrassed. You hadn’t even said or done anything yet. The tension in your body was building and you were starting to freak out. What if he had a horrible reaction? You never did talk about this. It wasn’t in the plans. Shit! You needed to get out of your head. You couldn’t start making things up. He didn’t even know yet. You tucked your feet underneath you and cradled the throw cushion into your stomach. You felt safer, almost like you were hiding your secret.
“Baby…” You murmured.
He glanced over at you, “Yeah.”
“We need to talk.” You said, immediately regretting your choice of words.
Now he probably thought you were breaking up with him. How did other people do this? This was the hardest conversation you’d ever had to have in your life. He raised an eyebrow at you, waiting for you to speak. You opened your mouth but stopped. You didn’t know what to say. Your heart was thudding in your chest and the adrenaline soared through your body.
"(Y/N)?" Donghyuck kept staring at you. "What is it?"
"Uhm..." you scratched the back of your neck. "I, I don't want to eat shrimp in our wedding."
He stared at you for a couple of seconds. "That is it?" You nodded, swallowing. "Baby, we can eat whatever we want in our wedding."
You hated yourself for lying to him. "I just... heard you say to Jeno you really love shrimp and I don't, so..."
"I don't really mind, love," he pecked you. "If you want to have tacos, then we'll have tacos."
You smiled. "Okay."
"Okay." He kissed you.
You couldn’t do it. You were too nervous.
(...)
You were all together in the cabin you rented, sitting around the coffee table filled with food and drinks.
“So, when's the wedding?” Jaemin asked, having a sip of his beer.
“Uh we still haven't set a date, but I hope it's soon,” Donghyuck replied and smiled.
“Hurry up before my baby bump starts showing!” Lena laughed. "And others things too." She glanced at you. You ignored her.
“Are you pregnant again?” Taeyong looked at her.
She nodded. "Yup, baby number two is coming next winter."
"Hey, congrats," Jaemin smiled. "I bet Hoseok is thrilled."
"He is, he wants twins," Lena rolled his eyes. "As if one wasn't enough."
Donghyuck giggled. "I'd love to have twins one day."
"You see, (Y/N)? Give him babies soon!" Lena smiled.
You rolled your eyes and Donghyuck put an arm around your shoulder. "We'll have kids as soon as we get married."
"You don't even hate a date yet," Jaemin mocked him.
You didn't know when Jaemin and Donghyuck became so close that they would bicker jokingly so often. And you found it funny, but that day you were nervous because you had to tell him you were pregnant. He deserved to know.
Taeyong tilted his head to the side, examining you. You looked different, your body seemed different. And the way you wouldn't look Donghyuck in the eye he could tell you were hiding something.
Then he knew. You were pregnant.
Later that night, you were doing the dishes when Taeyong showed up in the kitchen. He smiled at you as he poured  some water in a glass. He stood next to you, leaning against the counter. “How long are you?”
“Excuse me?” You looked at him.
He cocked his head cutely, smiling. “If I’m not wrong you’re pregnant, right?”
You sighed and nodded. “How did you know? Did Lena tell you? I’m gonna kill her.” You hissed.
Taeyong chuckled and shook his head. “I had a slight suspicion since the last time I saw you.”
You pressed your lips together. “6 weeks.”
“And… are we happy?” He rested his hand on yours.
“I am, I’m just nervous,” you let out an awe sigh. “I know he’s gonna be all happy, but still, it’s unexpected.”
“You’ll be fine.” Taeyong assured you. “Everything will be fine.”
“Promise?”
“When have I ever lied to you?” He cocked an eyebrow.
You giggled. “Never.”
“See?” Taeyong smiled. “Come here.” He pulled you close to him and hugged you. “I’ll always be by your side.”
(...)
“What are we going to do tomorrow?” Jaemin asked.
Donghyuck's eyes lit up, “There are several things we could do, how physical would we like to get?”
There was an extremely varied pool of answers. Jaemin and Donghyuck wanted it to be as extreme as they could get. You seemed anxious about what ‘physical’ would entail as physical usually also corresponded with danger.
Taeyong thought for a moment before recommending, “Why don’t we go down to the lake? It can be as low key or high key as people want, and there are some very pretty places nearby if people would not like to participate in the lake.”
Jaemin nodded, “Sounds fine to me.”
Lena whispered something to you and when they nodded Donghyuck's eyes lit up, “we're in as well.”
The next morning , you decided to make sandwiches for your trip later in the day while everyone cleaned up from breakfast, and then everyone left to go get dressed. Donghyuck put on their bathing suit underneath so he could easily change in and out of it, and grabbed their pair of sunglasses. He went out to the main area of the cabin to gather up the towels.
Taeyong arrived a few moments later, he had a sunhat on with round black sunglasses on. "Is everyone ready?"
Jaemin nodded. "We better go!"
The walk down to the lake was surprisingly calm, it was still morning and the birds were chirping, hidden in the trees, and the occasional butterfly would flutter across their path. The lake was stunning when you arrived. It was a large tranquil body of water which seemed to absorb the sun to show every possible shade of blue, and reflected it at just the right points so the ripples glinted and gleamed.
Donghyuck immediately tore off his shirt and sprinted for the dock as Jaemin and Taeyong followed him. Lena and you sat on the edge of the dock.
In the field there was laughter and joy, the three of them wove crowns and bracelets for each other.
"Why haven't you told him yet?" Lena queried.
You shrugged. "Becuase I'm dumb."
"Yeah, I know," she giggled. "You need to tell him before he realises it."
You sighed. "I'm gonna do it tonight."
She smiled. "Finally!"
"It's so cold." you said hugging yourself tighter.
Donghyuck grinned, scrunching his nose. "If you get in the water you'll get warm."
You rolled your eyes again. "You're not getting me into the lake."
Donghyuck pouted. "You sure, love?" He asked, batting his eyes.
You crossed your arms nodding your head. You didn't notice the way his arms snaked around your legs, having a slightly good hold on you. "I hoped you'd say that." Donghyuck had an evil smile on his face, causing you to look confused.
"I didn't say any- ahh!" Before you knew it, you were pulled into the lake.
When you broke to the surface Donghyuck was already waiting for you. You moved the hair from your face and glared at him. "Hyuck!" You yelled slamming your fists into the water. Donghyuck broke into a laughing fit. You glared at him, crossing your arms and turning away with a small 'Hmph!' Donghyuck was still laughing just a bit, before swimming up behind you. "Aw come on love, you can't be mad at me." He said wrapping his arms around your waist, resting his head on your shoulder. You weren't mad, but you wanted to tease him a bit. "Let go off of me."
"No," you felt him smile on your shoulder before he kissed it.
You giggled and rested your head on his shoulder. "I love you."
"I love you." He kissed your cheek. "I love you more than anything, you know?"
"I know," you smiled, caressing his arms . "But I like when you say it."
"I love you," he turned you and kissed you. "I can't wait for you to have my babies."
"Hyuck..." You looked at him. "You need to know something."
"What is it?" He stroked your cheek.
You opened your mouth but Jaemin called you two interrupted. You shook your head. "Let's go before he goes crazy. I'll tell you later."
"Alright, love."
(...)
"Please repeat again why did we need your private jet to come all the way here, Taeyong?" Lena questioned him.
"It was an 8 hour ride. I was not going to drive," He shrugged.
Jaemin laughed. "I could've drove."
"You're not the best at driving," you teased and everyone laughed.
"I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that," Jaemin rolled his eyes.
You all were in a suv on your way to the hangar where Taeyong's private jet was. You were coming back to the city after spending a few days out of town.
You didn't tell Donghyuck that you were pregnant since you weren't alone and when you have time for yourselves, he fell asleep. So you decided to tell him as soon as you two were home. It would be better.
After you arrived at the hangar destination, you got off of the car and grabbed your belongings. All of you went to the airstrip where the jet was already waiting for you. Everyone started to board the plane when Donghyuck let go off your hand. You looked at him. "I think I left my wallet in the car. I'll be right back."
"I'm gonna wait for you here," you say nicely.
He nodded and walked back in the hangar where the black suv was. He found his wallet underneath the pilot's seat and took it. He started walking towards the plane again and smiled when he saw you on the staircase. God, he was so in love with you.
A deafening sound echoed in his ears.
He blinked.
Donghyuck could you see running towards him - almost in slow motion - you were mouthing something and staring at him with fear, pain and… shock in your eyes.
Why were you shocked?
The right side of his chest felt sticky, and cold but warm in the middle. Weirdly warm. But it was not warm, it was hot and it hurt. Not like a punch. It was more like a pinch, that was blossoming into a cramp - a horrible, numbing cramp.
He was feeling light-headed and the cramp in his chest was getting worse. You were getting closer, but the distance between you two was considerable.
Another bang reached his ears a second later, it was loud, deafening, it made his ears ring. He stepped, no, stumbled to the side. Turning his head to see you, the look of acknowledgement and horror on your face.
He felt his blood on his hands, the heat and pain building up in his chest, the warmth of the sun seeping into his back. His knees gave way and he started falling backwards as his hand stretched out towards you.
His head hit the pavement with a startling thud and it felt strangely numb, he could hear you yelling for an ambulance. He blinked, closed his eyes for a second and suddenly you were there above him. You were cradling his face, saying something, tapping his face too hard.
"Hyuck!"
"-pen your eyes!"
"Come on Hyuck Please! Don't do this!"
"Babe, love, Donghyuck! You're okay, you're alright, you're gonna be fine. Please stay with me."
His back arched and he tried to curl onto his side and make the pain go away. His blood was still pouring out of him like a grotesque tap that couldn't be turned off.
"I-I love s-so m-uch. Y-you're t-the b-est t-thing t-that happened t-to m-me" He rambled.
"Don't do that. Don't say goodbye," you spoke, your voice cracking as a few stray tears fell from your eyes.
The blood that was coating his throat started clogging it instead and he couldn't breathe.
"You are going to be fin-" he choked
"It won't" You cut him off. "Hyuck, please. I'm pregnant, we're gonna have a kid. You're gonna be a dad. The best."
He tried to smile and looked at you weakly. "Take c-care o-of t-them, okay? I-I l-love yo-"
He was cut off by the blood in his throat that he coughed out onto his chin. The pain was spreading everywhere and numbing his brain.
And he took his last breath. He was smiling up at you.
“No. No! I’m not losing you! Donghyuck! I just got you! I'm not losing you! I’m not losing you… I’m not losing you.” You cried as you frantically shook him trying to bring him back to life but to no avail.
He was gone.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this. You were supposed to marry Donghyuck and raise your kid together. And two stray bullets weren't supposed to have struck in your fiancé's chest.
You weren't supposed to be trembling in front of the small white tombstone etched with the name Lee Donghyuck, but it was happening anyway.
You just wanted him to hold you; to tell you that everything happens for a reason, as he always did. You imagined him wrapping his arms around your waist like he always had, the way you now held yourself, alone.
Furiously wiping the tears from under your eyes, you began to make your way to your real destination from the graveyard. As you opened the door to the small doctor’s office, she gave you a soft sympathetic smile.
“Come on in, let’s see how your little bean is holding up.”
You nodded, sitting on the sturdy table for examinations in the back of the small office. You didn’t really notice the colors on the walls anymore, your eyes skipping over the medical tools meticulously lined up in the doctor’s preference of order.
You were four months along.
“Everything seems to be going well with the baby. But Y/N, you know that you need to eat more. It isn’t safe.”
Safe. That word didn’t seem real to you anymore.
“Are you hearing me? Please, I don’t like you living alone.”
You nodded. "I'll try."
(...)
Time went on. You were slowly running out of tears to cry around the eight month of your pregnancy. You still stopped by the graveyard to say hello to Donghyuck.
When she got back to your house, you found Taeyong parking outside. He had always been kind to you, respecting your space and distance.
“Hey you,” he greeted you smiling.
"Hi," you greeted back.
"I brought you some lunch."
You smiled politely. "Let 's go inside. I'm cold."
You got inside your house and went to the kitchen. Taeyong placed the food containers on the table. "How's the baby?"
"They're fine," you smirked. "Although I get heartburns very easily."
He nodded. "I'm glad you're doing better."
You sighed. "I'm... trying."
"And you know I'm here to help."
"I know."
You suddenly let out a low groan. He turned to you abruptly. “Are you okay, is the baby alright?” Taeyong, with a panicked look on his face.
“Umm, I think...I think I’m having contractions.”
It took a minute for this to process with him. "Okay, okay.. Okay, I'm gonna take you to the hospital? Okay?"
You nodded. "Is too soon, oh My God."
(...)
Taeyong ran his hand through his hair for what seemed like the millionth time as he paced in the waiting room.
He glanced down the hall where he knew your room was. He got called by a nurse. He went to your room and saw you connected to a lot of medical stuff and his heart ached.
You were in pain and when you saw him, you reached for his hand. Taeyong, grabbing your hand not even caring about your tight grip as he kissed your head, sweat be damned.
“(Y/N) ...it’s almost time for you to push, waiting any longer will mean an even greater risk for your baby.”
You nodded but let out a shuddering breath.
As nurses started coming into the room, he pressed another kiss to your head.
“You can do this.” He whispered.
Minutes later, you began to push.
He looked back at the baby girl. She was beautiful. And so small.
Taeyong looked up.
“She’s a fighter, just like his dad..”
Tears filled your eyes again.
Taeyong knew he wouldn't go anywhere, not since he had you all from himself and had gotten rid of Donghyuck.
He smiled, holding the baby. He was a dad.
Alternate ending is finally here !!

(A/N: So, like I said in one of my last post, I’m trying to start a series so that I will have a reason to post more often and not let this blog die the way I did before. Only problem? This was the first thing that came to mind and I’ve been terrified it won’t do well so please leave feedback if you like it so I know to continue it. This is also my first NCT 127 post so... Yay! Also, I recently read about how taboo a lot of people think the mafia/crime AUs are in fanfiction and I want to be cautious of their feelings in regards to this which is why I also haven’t posted it but I just want to post something while getting out of my writers block. But, again, leave feedback on whether you love it or hate it, leave request if you want, anything’s appreciated.)
Masterlist|Guidelines
You’ve seen elegance but never at this level, eyes glued to the ceiling that seemed to reach heights you could only dream of, not even thirty basketball players stacked onto one another’s shoulders able to graze the top. The sparkling from the crystal gold leaf chandeliers adding to the fairytale-like atmosphere as servers of all kind bustled around you offering food and drinks at any given chance, your hand reluctantly staying at your side as you declined their generosity. You were starving, but you had a job to do and, that job, was Song Minhyun.
He was the newly appointed Don of the Amarillo family, his father passing away from an unknown condition only a week ago but, based on how fast Minhyun made the world aware that he was now in control of all the illicit acts committed in the name of Amarillo after years of having their identity protected and undisclosed, even going as far as to threaten and betray the various families beneath him in an insane power trip, it was clear his father’s death was no accident. But you were never a fan of that man, he was creepy with a bad attitude to match, so this task wasn’t some gesture of vengeance for him, it was strictly about you and your family.
Just like the Amarillo’s, your family went under an alternative name, Nio’s, which closely resembled the name of the pharmaceutical manufacturing company masking it, Neo Tech. It always made you laugh considering no one caught on to their association, given Nio’s were the largest distributors and exporters of controlled substances in majority of the Eastern hemisphere. But joining Nio’s wasn’t a life you wanted to live, you were practically forced into it, but once you’ve engrained yourself into a life of organized crime, it was impossible to leave. You lived every day with the mindset of kill or be killed, Minhyun’s threats to expose your operations to the NIS who, after the death of Nio’s founder, Kim Dongwan, assumed your family officially ceased activity in the crime syndicate, being your main motive for taking him down. Sure, you were ordered to handle the assassination but, considering you could face life in prison simply for everything you’ve done in the name of Nio’s, you were more than willing. There was one problem though, Song Minhyun was an absolute dream.
Your thoughts seemed to fade into nothingness when you initiated conversation, going with the plan to seduce and kill him only to find he was much more enticing than you anticipated. He was a year or so older than you yet spoke like he was some immortal seer, his wisdom and life stories drawing you in and leaving your heart racing. His smile was so wide and gummy but eyes sharp and attentive, never leaving yours even as he drew you further from the crowd which, according to Taeyong, was not part of the plan. And you couldn’t begin to understand how fucked you were.
You didn’t know where he was taking you, too focused on his words while simultaneously adjusting your silky white dress to reveal more cleavage from the already plunging v-neck and your walk becoming sultrier to expose more of your leg from the thigh-high slit.
“You know, you shouldn’t focus too much on your looks when you’re naturally beautiful.” Minhyun spoke, your eyes darting to him as your hands returned to your sides, a shy giggle echoing in the now deserted hallway he lead you through.
“Can you blame me? Standing next to an attractive man can really mess with a girl’s self-esteem.” You admitted, suddenly feeling like some high schooler in a rom-com.
“Well, I can help with those insecurities. Just tell me where to start and I’ll make you feel like an absolute queen.” Your breath hitched as his body turned to face you, hand reaching to cup your neck but it was large enough that his thumb could glide over your bottom lip with ease, smudging your red lipstick against your skin teasingly but still holding your gaze.
His presence, the sheer dominance he exuded made you whimper in a mixture of fear and pleasure. You weren’t going planning to escape yet he made the initiative to hold you close to him, an arm wrapped securely around your waist making a heat rush through you that could only be described as want, no longer aware of your duties and no longer caring. He was perfect, and you wanted a piece of his perfection. Maybe for the night, maybe forever, you decided you’d choose after whatever surprise he had for you was done in the dark office he dragged you into, your excitement blocking out the burning gaze from just down the hall.
Minhyun shut the door, not bothering to lock it seeing that you were so willing and easy to remain with him. He knew who you were and what you were planning to do. You were an orphan taken in by Nio’s, trained to be a child soldier for a man who couldn’t even hold his own against Minhyun’s father, now under Taeyong’s rules and orders. But knowing that his first encounter with Taeyong was less than stellar and the sudden ultimatum to forfeit all their assets to the Amarillos or be handed over to the police for sentences that can range from 50 years to death for each and every one of his precious borgata, the only thing Taeyong could do was kill him and you, unfortunately were just a pawn in those plans.
“You know, your looks are nothing to be insecure about. You’re beautiful beyond comprehension.” He spoke lowly, inching closer and guiding you to his large desk just by the window, the moonlight that seeped through the blinds the only form of light allowing you to take in his features.
You gasped as he grabbed your hips, spinning you and pressing you over the desk. You sighed in contentment at the feeling of his hands caressing up your thighs, dress riding up and slowly revealing the black thong you had, a low chuckle leaving his lips at the sight. Not just because you were practically bare before him, but at the pocket pistol held securely in its holster that you managed to forget about. It was a Glock 42, making him proud that he did his research on you because, if he was in your position right now, and the number of murders you committed were accurate, he’d be a goner already.
“(Y/n), if only you were as smart as you are beautiful.” He said, your eyes widening at the way he spoke but, more importantly, he knew your name. Your real name. Not the one you were given for this mission.
“How’d you-Ow!” You whimpered as he grabbed your hair, pulling you upwards until your back was flush with his chest.
Tears were pricking your eyes, your breathing heavy as you felt a cool metal press to your temple swallowing hard while simultaneously attempting to reach to your thigh discretely to find your own gun, only to find it was the one in his hand.
“When I read about you, I was so intrigued. So curious. You know there’s only one photo of you online and it’s a mugshot from when you were still living on the streets?” He laughed out loud at that, ignoring the way your body thrashed against his in an attempt to free yourself, head leaning further away from the possibly cocked gun in fear that he was finished monologuing already.
“But you’re really weak. And I’d usually like that in women, especially when they’re this submissive but, them wanting to kill me is a deal breaker. So what am I to do if I have the opportunity to murder my would-be assassin?” His lips were pressed to the shell of your ear, your eyes squeezed shut as you tried to silently apologize to the Nio’s. Sorry that you let your guard down, that you let some pretty face turn you into some horny teenager, the only plus side to your death being that it wouldn’t be Taeyong killing you because you knew how much he loved to torture before doing the deed. And with that final thought, you were ready to die, just hoping that someone else could finish the job you’ve failed tonight. And they did.
The sound of the door colliding with the wall was all you heard, followed by two hollow gunshots. Your eyes flew open as you felt Minhyun’s body fall limp against yours, hand slowly releasing your hair until you could move again, quickly shoving him off to adjust your dress to cover yourself before facing your silent savior, your heart stopping at the fierce, angry, “don’t move or I’ll kill you too” gaze Doyoung was giving you.
It was one thing to piss off Taeyong, you knew what to expect, but with Doyoung? He wasn’t a killer. In fact, he was the medic of your unit, coming along in case things went awry and someone needed instant care. He was a gentle person with a snappy attitude, but never one to act on his threats, so to see him with a gun in his hand, a body lying face first in blood from its skull and chest created by the man himself and approaching you with a scowl so deep you thought his baby face would finally start to wrinkle, you felt more fear than when you were almost dead.
“D-doyoung. Thank yo-“ You gasped as your head turned, eyes stinging with tears and cheek burning in both embarrassment and from the harsh impact his hand left.
You slowly peered up, afraid he’d strike you again just to see Yuta and Haechan slipping by silently, giving you a brief glance while collecting to fallen shells and your gun from Minhyun, only to leave you alone once more with the unpredictable aid.
“Doyoung-“
“Let’s go.”
Those were the only words he said before turning to head out of the office, your body immediately following close behind. He was silent the entire time, stuffing the pistol back into his waistband before buttoning his suit’s blazer to conceal it, leading the both of you through the still bumbling party and to the exit. Everything he did felt so tense despite being so normal. The way he spoke to the valets, how he entered the car without bothering to open the door for you, even his group call letting everyone know the task was done felt hostile. But you said nothing, continuing to wait idly by and praying he forgot about the situation.
You were tempted to break the awkward silence looming between the both of you on this seemingly hours long drive but, from the way he was radiating heat from how angry he was, you felt staying silent would be best. But you didn’t want to stay silent. You wanted to thank him for saving you while simultaneously screaming at him for slapping you, but also have one normal conversation with him. It was painful to admit that for the past few years you both weren’t exactly friendly with one another, no one seeming to care as “this was strictly business”, and you hated it. You never said it but you loved the Nio’s members and knew they loved you and each other as well, but for some reason the only two people that kept this family at arms length were the core members, Lee Taeyong and Kim Doyoung.
You knew Doyoung wasn’t a fan of the family ever since his father introduced him to that life, pissed he didn’t follow in his older brother’s footsteps and leave as soon as possible. He was supposed to be the heir to the family and be the boss of the 18 people living under his roof and the 7 working overseas in China to keep production there running and, as much as you didn’t want the responsibility, he was in too deep to run away. He opted to stop training for field work, developing a phony passion for medicine and surgery which led to him becoming the emergency medic for the team and no longer catching his father’s fancy for taking over their empire, leading to his heirship being rescinded. And as for the spot as heir? Doyoung’s father ordered Taeyong to fill. You knew Taeyong a lot better than the others but were utterly shocked to see him take over so easily. He was obviously a natural born leader but he had a habit of complaining about not always wanting to be in charge, using you as his unwilling therapist when he felt like reverting to his unintimidating, crybaby self. But there was no exit at this point, so what more could you do than make the most of a bad situation by befriending one another and having fun when you felt your lives were no longer in danger? And, whether they liked it or not, they were going to have fun with you and the rest of their constantly growing family.
“Y-you know, I was more scared of you then being killed back there. I’ve never seen you so mad.” You laughed, hoping to at least get a smile or something from him, your eyes glancing over to see his grip on the steering wheel tighten at your words. Maybe you should’ve just shut up.
“Doyoung, I’m sorry I put you in a situation where you had to kill, I know you hate stuff like that but, if it wasn’t for you, I’d probably be dead. Besides, it’s kinda like medicine if you think about it. Except you saved a life by taking one rather than just giving drugs to- OW!” You cried out as he slammed on the brakes, the only thing keeping you from flying through the windshield being your hands on the dashboard and the seatbelt crossed over your chest and waist.
“You bitch!” You snapped at him, watching his blank expression as he removed his seatbelt and turned off the car.
“Meet me in my office. You have five minutes.” Doyoung said plainly, your eyes fixed on him in bewilderment as he exited the car with no concern for you.
You let out an annoyed breath, your fear from before mixed with anger as you hurriedly followed his lead, leaving the car and speed walking to the front door he was entering through. To your surprise, most of the guys were there, not sparing either of you a glance as they knew what had happened and knew better than to interfere, but one person didn’t keep quiet.
“(Y/n), what the FUCK did I tell you?” Taeyong growled, your body practically jumping as he cornered you in the entrance’s corridor, eyes burning with anger and panic that you knew he had no way of controlling. He was always a hothead.
“I-I-“
“I’m having the meeting with her, Taeyong. Don’t bother. You have two minutes.” Doyoung spoke, voice fading as he continued down the hall to the small office he typically frequented to buy and sell shipment for Nio’s personal and professional use.
As soon as he was out of earshot, you grabbed Taeyong’s hands, eyes wide and teary as you tried to plead with him to save you.
“You went off where we couldn’t see you and didn’t even complete the mission. You could have been dead by now.”
“I know and you can punish however you want but, Taeyong, Doyoung is pissed, and I don’t know what to do. He already slapped me, now he’s not even speaking to me,”
“He never talks to you.”
“He does sometimes, when he wants to be a sarcastic asshole! But, please, Taeyong, talk to him. Calm him down so he doesn’t hurt me again.” You tried to use a soft voice, hoping to strike a sympathetic nerve in the doe-eyed man.
“(Y/n/n),” Taeyong sighed, cupping your face and making you lock eyes with him.
“You fucked up and made Doyoung do something he’s sworn to himself and us that he’d never do. His anger is justified. But I’ll be there for you whenever you’re in danger, whether it’d be an enemy or anyone living in this house, I’ll never let you get hurt.” He gave a warm smile, your lips curling to mimic his.
“But not tonight. You put us all at risk as you need to face the consequences.”
“Taeyong!”
“I’ll visit you in the infirmary later tonight.” You whimpered in fear as he kissed the crown of your head and pushed you in the direction of the office, heels clicking against the white marble floor as you stumbled to what might be your imminent doom.
You could taste blood in your mouth from the way you bit down on your tongue to ease your anxiety, your once statue-like body moving forward with caution although the chilly air was urging you to retreat. You couldn’t turn back because Taeyong would just escort you to Doyoung himself but if you went straight to Doyoung, who knows what he’d do. You couldn’t even take a second to cry over your dilemma once you noticed the dark brown mahogany door. The office was soundproof, something you both loved and hated. Whatever Doyoung wanted to scream at you would go unheard by the men possibly showering and preparing for bed after a somewhat successful evening, but then they wouldn’t hear you scream for help. It reminded you of earlier tonight, making the situation a bit more lighthearted until you realized you could’ve died then and would possibly die now.
“Oh god,” You breathed out in a whisper, shutting your eyes and taking a deep breath as your hand gripped the steel doorknob, turning it and entering the spacious and organized room.
“Doyoung.” You spoke lowly, shutting the door behind you but refusing to move any closer to him as he sat with an unrecognizable file before him.
“July of 2016, you were assigned to deliver a new batch of amphetamines to Xu Minghao who ran the Chinese operations of Sebong. Instead of cooperating with Weishen, AKA the Chinese sector of your own team, you thought doing the drop off yourself would be fine, only to let your guard down and let it slip that you were in Nio’s which promptly lead to you not only being ambushed, but Sicheng jumping in to save you and being shot in the lower back in the process.” He said blandly, flipping over the page to yet another as you swallowed hard at the memory, accidentally mentioning Haechan’s name and revealing you weren’t just a middle man in their operation but a direct asset, and Winwin payed the price for your stupidity.
“I remember just fine, but-“
“February of 2017, you knowingly entered enemy territory in Kyoto without alerting Yuta who, as you’ve always known, is in charge of our Japanese affairs. He has people over there for a reason, to handle the shit we can’t while we’re in Seoul. But you waltz over there and initiate a gang war that has only now been resolved.” He said, voice growing in annoyance and animosity that was a complete 180 from his once emotionless tone, your voice caught in your throat as you also remembered that day. You were on vacation and thought it’d be fine as long as you went in some disguise, but you were too well known and the fact you couldn’t speak Japanese only made it worse. You even remembered how Yuta refused to talk to you for months as he traveled constantly to fix your mistake.
“I-I know I fucked up that time but I tried to explain and I-“
“And that brings us to tonight! You had to stay in the spotlight with the man threatening not only your life but everyone you know in Nio’s and neighboring groups, and lead him back to the apartment we set up for you for a simple and quick execution, but you decide to go further into his mansion, expose yourself to him, and allow him to nearly murder you with your bare ass out!” His voice was strained as he screamed this time, your eyes watering as he pushed the large leather chair back to stand, making his way around the desk to approach you.
“I’d remind you about what happened in 2013, but I’m sure you’d never forget that.” He said with no emotion once more, your eyes low as you tried to suppress the urge to touch your slightly sunken head. Your our only job was to shoot if you saw someone escaping during an exchange but, instead, you were hit yourself, every medic working hard to keep you from dying and leaving you with a partially shaved head and a new metal plate in your skull.
“But I want you to tell me who saved your ass that time, (Y/n)?” His voice was playful now, emotions changing like an out of control radio station. Sometimes you wondered if he was just as mentally fucked as Taeyong.
You gasped when you felt his hand gripping your face, forcing your head up and back until your eyes met, a fire behind them that made your stomach swirl in fear but enchantment. You almost even forgot about how rough his grip on your jaw was because his hands were so soft, the warmth he let off no longer intimidating but causing you to turn to putty in his hands and wanting to fall against him in comfort and bliss. But the sudden harsh flick to your forehead made you realize he was anything but comforting.
“Stop acting like a touch starved dumbass and answer me. Who the fuck saved you from bleeding out in a filthy warehouse in the middle of fucking Daegu?” He said harshly, your eyes darkening as you tried to keep your composure.
“You did.”
“And you decided that me handling the responsibility of operating on you was some sentimental, heroic act and that from that day forth, you would make it everyone’s job to save you? That it was my job to save you?”
You felt your eyes tearing up again, lip quivering as a sob threatened to escape you and he could only let out a scoff, harshly pulling his hand back as he watched you cry.
“And now you’re crying.”
“I tried to thank you, I tried to apologize for making you save me yet you won’t let me! You slapped me! You’re screaming at me and making me feel bad when I already fucking feel bad. I know I’m fucking up and it’s hard on you guys but I-I just don’t know what to do! I’m tired and sick of having to live every second of my life knowing there is no one in this world I can trust and that I can never leave and that’s all I want, Doyoung! I just want to leave and be a normal person.”
The silence between you was deafening, almost loud in a way, but it was allowing you both to take in the words you said. You could see the look of conflict and annoyance on his face through your tears, a glimmer of what you both hoped and feared was sadness in his eyes as he rolled them to look anywhere but you. And what Doyoung saw of you was a breeding ground of trauma and dysfunction.
You were no different from anyone there, your life story was so similar to most of theirs that no one had time to pity you. You joined Nio’s when you were only 10, hair matted and filthy like the clothes you wore, hands stained red with blood and a look in your eyes that screamed frustration but hopelessness. You were the perfect tool for his father and it was sad watching yet another lost soul fall into this lifestyle. But you proved to be so capable of yourself, strong and competent but, after the death of his father, something in you changed. You were emotional, distracted, constantly agreeing to do task but never fully connecting mentally. He even noticed you screaming in the middle of the night from nightmares. Whether you remembered or not, you and Doyoung were close, so close it managed to shift the atmosphere of Nio’s into something enjoyable and worthy of being part of, but he knew it wasn’t good for you to stay. Not for any of you. So he gave you a chance to leave, a chance to live your life the way you had always told him you wanted, but you didn’t take it. Your reason? Taeyong. You never explained why he was the reason you were staying but the way you constantly clung to their leader like you were his lapdog was all the clarification that he needed. For Doyoung, the closeness you shared and the desire you both had of living normal lives was nothing compared to the same greed for power you shared with Taeyong. So he stopped trying to save you, stopped focusing on how to help you preserve what little of your sanity was left until now. Seeing you at your breaking point made it clear to him that even if this life would follow you forever, letting you go was better than having everyone killed from your mistakes. And, if you left, whatever problems haunted you would be yours to face alone, and he was fine with that.
“You will never be a normal person. And whatever life you choose to live will be as stressful as this one because you’ll spend every second looking over your shoulder wondering who’s out to get you. But, you’re dead weight now, and it’s unfair we’re the ones that have to keep carrying you. I don’t care when or where you go, just leave.” His tone was harsh and cold, the relief you felt at his words not enough to ease the pressure in your chest.
Doyoung’s no longer had power to make these decisions once Taeyong was appointed as leader, so you knew without the boss’ approval his word meant nothing. But, if you had the chance to run, why not take it? Maybe for one day, you could be free, probably take the time you needed to hide away from Nio’s and the crime world you knew all too well. You had no set plan, but sticking around trying to making one would do you no good.
“T-thank you. Thank you for everything.” You said with a small voice and deep bow, Doyoung not bothering to look at you as you hurriedly exited the room to head to yours and pack any belongings you needed for your new life.
You knew this life was hard to leave yet lived with the ignorant optimism that there was always some escape and no turning back. Unfortunately for you, you were simply a butterfly living in an airtight jar and, no matter where you turned, the air you needed was nowhere to be found and, tonight, was the beginning of your suffocation.

Christmas Comes A Knockin'
January 5th, 2019
Dear Eddie,
I know you’ve only just left, but I already miss you. And Christopher misses you. Tonight we made your favourite for dinner and Chris accidentally set out three plates. It was rough, but he felt better after Papa Buck’s special hot chocolate.
You know, I never thought I’d have much use of this notebook you gave me last Christmas, yet here we are.
Anyway, missing you. Stay safe.
Buck
January 30th, 2019
Eddie you jackass,
I don’t know how to send you letters. They told me you’re on some sort of highly classified mission and there’s no communication. Seriously? Some secret military black ops bullshit and you didn’t tell me? If you die on me, Edmundo Diaz, I will kill you. You hear me? I will fucking kill you.
Buck
March 23rd, 2019
Hey Eddie,
Chris got his first ribbon today at the science fair. He’s so proud and we have pictures that we’re saving for when you get back. I know he’s not supposed to get cookies and hot chocolate before bed, but I figure we make an exception for a special night. Hope all’s well.
Missing you.
Buck
April 1st, 2019
Hen and Chim can walk off a cliff, together. They’re too damn old to be playing April Fools tricks on me! I’m going to be eating glitter for days. Days!
Anway, missing you. Loving you.

April, 16th, 2019
Feliz cumpleaños, mi amo! See, I’m learning! Chris helped me make you a cake. It’s chocolate and we ate a slice on your behalf. Wherever you are, I hope you’re celebrating.
Missing you. Always missing you.

Chris was called into the principal’s office today. The other little fuck face claims Chris tripped him on purpose with his cane. His bitch of a mother wanted a written apology and one day suspension. I can’t even right now. Why are people such assholes? Chris says he didn’t do it and I believe him. God, I hate people sometimes.
I don’t know how much longer I can do this without you.

May 13th, 2019
Chris and I went to the pier for his birthday. It’s kinda special and it felt easier being there when it’s just us. We had churros, cake, lemonade, and maybe that was a bit too much sugar, but he’s passed out now. Yay sugar crash.
He says you owe him a birthday present but I got your back. Now you owe me for being so brilliantly considerate. I’ll be collecting when you get home.
Loving you,
Buck
June 28th, 2019
I heard gunshots coming from the cemetery while we were answering a call. I don’t know if it was a military funeral, but...they’d call me if something happened, right? You’re not so off the grid that I’ll be left wondering for the rest of my life? I’m you husband. They can’t not tell me, right?
Eddie, please, I miss you so much.
Buck
July 3rd, 2019
Chris gave me a miniature fire truck for my birthday. He’s the sweetest child a man can ask for. Really. The gang got me a cake and Chim shoved my face in it. That asshole. It’s a good thing I love him.
It’s not the same without you here, though. I hope you’re thinking of me.

July 16th, 2019
We went to the aquarium today. They played Baby Shark on repeat and now all I can think about is baby shark do do do do do do do and it’s driving me nuts. Chris thinks it’s hilarious. I may or may not have thrown an octopus plushie at him over it.
Anyway, we saw all sorts of crazy stuff, and Chris loved the dolphin show. We’ll have to go again when you get back. The mango slushie at the cafeteria is magnificent.
Missing you always.
Buck
September 15th, 2019
I miss summer vacation. I know, getting child care is always a pain in the ass, but I loved hanging out with Chris. When I’m with him, it’s like being with a small piece of you, and that made things a little easier. Now that he’s back in school, it feels like you leaving all over again.
It gets pretty lonely at night sometimes. Stay safe and come back to me. To us.
Loving you.

November 11th, 2019
We’re thinking of you. All of us.
Love,
Buck
November 28th, 2019
I made us Thanksgiving dinner at the station. Chris had a blast and the guys loved having him there. We’re both so stuffed right now we’ve not left the couch even though bedtime was half an hour ago. Chris wanted to say hi, he says I can write for him while he talks, so here goes.
Hi Daddy,
Papa gave me the biggest slice of pumpkin pie tonight, and it was so huge I almost didn’t finish it. But I did. Denny and I got to ride in the fire truck and it’s so cool you get to ride it every day at work. Papa says it’s time for bed now, I love you Daddy, and I miss you.

December 5th, 2019
Why are Hallmark’s movies out already? I’m not ready. We don’t have enough tissues at the house. I need to buy more tomorrow because I used up the last box watching The Knight Before Christmas.
Wherever you are, have a pumpkin spice latte for me.
Buck
December 5th, 2019
Eddie I couldn’t sleep, so I stared at the ceiling talking to myself, pretending you’re here next to me. Remember when you first kissed me? I thought I was drowning and you kissed me. I know it wasn’t a real kiss, you were trying to keep me alive, but our lips touched, and it brought me back, you know? You brought me back when I thought I was dying. When I was ready to give up.
You’re not here to kiss me now, but I’m not giving up. I’m going to wait until you get home to me, to Chris, and I’m going to kiss the shit out of you.
Always loving you.
Buck
December 16th, 2019
Chris had his Christmas concert at school today. The whole unit came to watch. Mama Grant had a camera so we can record it for you. She’s really good with that thing too, even ran to the front of the stage so she could get some closeups. Chris was fantastic. Voice of an angel, I swear. We all went for ice cream after, and no, Edmundo, it’s never too cold for ice cream.
We put up the tree last weekend, and Chris came home with these cookie ornaments they made at school. There’s one for you, too, with your name on it, so come get it, big boy.
Cap says we’re going to have our Christmas party on the 23rd so people can go home and celebrate with their families for actual Christmas. Carla offered to watch Chris, but I’m considering taking him with me. It’s a family friendly party, so maybe Denny will be there too.
Anyway, this is getting long. Loving you,
Buck
December 23th, 2019
Gonna take Chris to the party with me. He’s pumped. Who knew being a parent could feel like this?
I’m always so grateful that you let me into your little family. You gave me Chris, and he’s the best present a guy could ask for. For every Christmas for the rest of my life.
Loving you.
Buck
===
Buck closes his notebook and tucks the pen into the elastic loop attached to the cover. His finger twitches, and he wants to open the book and write our every little thing going through his head right now. Every emotion. But he can’t. It’s too damn painful. And Eddie’s not here.
“Papa?” Chris calls from the bathroom. “Can you help me?”
Buck scrubs a hand down his face and clears his throat, willing the prickle of tears to go away. “Yeah, bud, be right there.”
When he pops his head into the bathroom, Chris is struggling with his bowtie. Buck wanted to get him a pre-tied one, but Chris insisted on the real deal. There’s a little card that came with the tie with diagrams on how to make the bow. Buck studies it, tries and fails a couple times, but eventually he gets a semi decent looking bow that sits snug under the collar of Chris’ shirt.
“There you go,” he says, patting down the lapels of Chris’ suit jacket.
“Thanks, Papa.”
Buck’s chest swells, like it does every time Chris calls him Papa. It started as Papa Buck, but somewhere between Buck moving in and his and Eddie’s wedding, he became just Papa. It was a little strange at first, but it didn’t take long before Buck forgets that Chris isn’t his biological son. He loves Chris the same way he loves Maddie and his parents, but even more so because he never knew he could be so fiercely protective of a single human being.
Some days, Buck muses he loves Chris more than he loves Eddie, and that’s saying something.
Buck stares into the mirror, his eyes meeting Chris’, and they both smile. “Ready?” Buck asks as he straightens his tie.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Chris leads the way, and Buck follows him out of the bathroom, through the living room, and out the front door. December in LA is mild at best, but Buck shivers as he helps Chris into the car. He looks behind him, then around, but there’s no one there.
“Hm.”
“What’s wrong?” Chris asks.
Buck looks over his shoulder once more, then shakes his head. “Nothing, little man, let’s go.”
The drive to the station is uneventful, but Buck can’t shake that weird feeling swirling in the pit of his stomach. They pull into the parking lot just as Hen, Karen, and Denny pile out of their car, and Buck’s glad he decided to bring Chris afterall.
Bobby’s whole family is here too, along with Michael, and as the spiked eggnog got passed around more than once, that uneasy feeling dissipates into something warm and fuzzy. Buck’s a little buzzed, but only enough to take the edge off.
Chris, Denny, and Harry are off playing somewhere. Buck finds a spot with line of sight to the children and takes a seat, cradling his overstuffed stomach. He doesn’t know why he does this, but he just can’t stop himself from overeating when it’s a holiday. It’s a good thing he’s surrounded by LA’s finest paramedics incase he keels over from too much turkey.
The upstairs lounge is buzzing with people. Firefighters and their families, and Buck tries not to let Eddie’s absence dampen his Christmas spirit. The rest of his family is right here, and he loves and cherishes them, and having Chris here makes up for the fact that Eddie isn’t.
And that’s enough. It has to be.
Buck contemplates a third eggnog, but decides against it. They still need to get home after, and Buck will be damned if he puts Chris’ life in danger just because he’s feeling a little maudlin and a lot lonely. He heaves out of the chair and heads for the trays of cookies and pastries laid out on a long table. If he can’t drink his sorrows away, he’ll just eat his feelings tonight instead.
Somewhere behind him, Chris gasps. Buck’s heart drops through the floor and he spins to find Chris making a mad dash for the stairs. He acts before he’s had time to process, and he’s running up behind Chris, who’s half way down the first flight of stairs, before he sees what Chris is running towards.
Or who.
Down in the engine bay is a lone figure dressed in army fatigues with the brightest hazel eyes Buck’s ever known. His heart jumps into his throat, and the hubbub of the party fades as his eyes meet Eddie’s for the first time in what feels like a lifetime.
They stand there, frozen, staring at each other, and a million things pass in that wide chasm between them. A whole year’s worth of fear and sadness and loneliness. Of love and longing and hope. Buck gets a little lightheaded, and that’s when he realizes he’s been holding his breath. He huffs, and with that single breath, every doubt he’s had this year flows out of him.
Eddie’s lips twitch into a rueful smile, that smile splitting impossibly wide when he sees Chris coming around the corner and down the second flight of stairs.
“Daddy!” Chris’ jubilant shout breaks the freezing spell Eddie and Buck are under, and they move in sync.
“Christopher, mijo. I’ve missed you so so much.” Eddie’s muffled voice drifts up as he clutches Chris to his chest.
When Buck finally, finally makes his way down the steps, he stops just short.
He’s dreamt of this moment, played it in his head over and over and over, imagined every possible way it could play out, but everything he imagined pales in comparison. Buck’s chest aches in that bittersweet, delicious way he never knew he could feel, and bites the inside of his cheek to keep from crying.
Don’t fucking cry. Don’t ruin the moment. Just don’t, Buck.
Eddie looks up over Chris’ head, and his red-rimmed eyes glisten with unshed tears. And that fucking does it. Buck’s eyes burn, and his nose stuffs up even more as he heaves for breath. His vision blurs, and everything turns into a watery mosaic. Eddie reaches for him, Chris still tucked against his chest, and Buck steps into the embrace like his life depends on it.
When Buck’s arms wrap around Eddie’s actual, solid form, every dam he put up breaks, and the first of many sobs heaves out of him. Chris turns around, wrapping his arms around Buck’s neck, and then Eddie’s lips are on his skin. Warm, dry, and a little chapped.
They’re on the floor, and Chris is in Buck’s lap, and Eddie’s hands are cupping Buck’s cheeks and Buck can’t fucking breathe. Can’t fucking see because his eyes are leaking like broken faucets. But he doesn’t need to see to know Eddie’s here, in his arms, and his presence is answer enough to all of Buck’s unanswered letters.
“Hey, Buck,” Eddie rasps, his lips hovering on the corner of Buck’s mouth.
Buck wants to say something, anything, but all that comes out is another sob. Eddie chuckles, then his lips press against Buck’s in a soft, chaste kiss. “Evan, Ev, I’m here. It’s okay.”
“Papa missed you,” Chris pipes up between them.
Eddie’s eyes mist, and his arms slip around Buck’s shoulders. “I missed Papa too. Missed you both so, so much.”
“Are you coming home, Daddy?”
“Yeah,” Eddie says, and his bright eyes lock on Buck’s with a conviction. “I’m coming home. For good.”

Chapter 8
Tumblr media
Gloria was sound asleep in her cell, her back to Daryl as she lay on her side, her front side facing the wall on the inner side of the bed. His arm was draped around her waist, spooning her close to him as he slept peacefully by her side. Their slumber was suddenly interrupted by distant screaming and gunshots firing within the prison. Daryl jolts up at the sound, startling Gloria awake at the sudden movement. She rubs her eyes of sleep with the back of her hand then looks to Daryl as he gets up from the bed.
“Get to the infirmary.” Daryl orders her as he picks up his crossbow and bolts out of the cell.
Gloria complies with his words, throwing on her army green jacket and equipping herself with her belt of daggers, she rushes to the infirmary. Seeing that a woman and her daughter are already there waiting for her in tears, Gloria ushers them into the infirmary, sitting them down and checking on them. They had minor scrapes and cuts on their arms and legs but nothing life threatening.
“What happened?” Gloria asks once she’s done patching up the two.
“Walkers...” the woman chokes out.
Her answer earns a baffled look from Gloria. How could walkers get into the prison? They’d cleared out the prison and blocked off any possible entrances, there was no way walkers could break into the walls, at least not without anyone knowing. After making sure the two are fine, she sends them off to the main area to find Rick, telling them that he’ll know what to do. A few more people come to the infirmary, Gloria recognizes them all as residents of Cell Block D. Now knowing that there was somehow a walker attack, she checks them all for bites. Fortunately, she only finds minor injuries, some worse than others but not a single bite. Gloria tells them the same thing she had told the woman with her daughter, to find Rick in the main area. Moments later, Hershel and Caleb meet Gloria at the infirmary.
“Hey, I heard there was a walker attack in Cell Block D.” Gloria states, concern evident in her voice, Hershel and Caleb both nod at her, “how’d they even get in?”
“That’s the thing, they didn’t.” Hershel starts, “one of the kids, Patrick, he died overnight because of a cold and turned.”
Gloria feels the blood drain from her face, “P-Patrick...? I saw him yesterday... he barely had a cold, how could he-”
“This is something that progressed extremely fast, it’s not your fault.” Caleb jumps in before Gloria could finish speaking, “none of us would have been able to see the signs.”
“I just told him to rest and drink lots of water and to see one of us in the morning if he doesn’t feel better...” Gloria slums down in the chair, looking down.
“We would have told him the same thing, Gloria.” Hershel tells her in attempts to comfort her.
Caleb nods, “we wouldn’t have seen his symptoms and think of them as deadly.”
Gloria sighs, her eyes welling up with tears, “I should have just given him antibiotics, then none of this would have happened, he might not have died...”
“Judging by how frail he was and with his immune system, antibiotics might not have done anything for him.” Hershel reminds her.
Accepting that there was nothing that she could have done, she nods and looks up at Hershel and Caleb, “so, what’s Rick’s plan?”
“How are we doing with antibiotics?” Hershel asks, gesturing to the bins, “if anyone else is infected with the cold or whatever it is, we need to be prepared.”
“The last time I checked, we were running low.” Gloria says as she gets up to check the bins where they kept the medicine, then sighs, “we don’t even have enough for even one person if they end up sick.”
Hershel purses his lips in deep thought, “we’re going to hold a council meeting tomorrow. For now, anyone who was in Cell Block D will be going to Cell Block A to be quarantined just in case.”
Gloria frowns at the mention of Cell Block A, “that’s death row...”
Hershel chuckles softly at her, “that’s the same tone Glenn used when Carol mentioned it earlier.”
“Are you sure you two aren’t twins?” Caleb jokes, grinning at her.
Gloria rolls her eyes playfully at him. The two other doctors take their leave as Gloria starts to tidy up the infirmary. As she’s putting back bins in their proper spots, Maggie appears at the door carrying Michonne with Carl beside them. Gloria looks at them and frowns.
“Are you guys okay?” she asks.
“Michonne hurt her ankle.” Maggie tells her as she lets the other woman sit on the patient bed.
“I’m fine.” Michonne grumbles but lets Gloria take a look at her ankle anyway.
She kneels in front of her, gently and carefully moving her ankle to examine how bad the damage is. Gloria takes notice every time Michonne tries not to let show that it hurts. Maggie had left the infirmary, telling the others that she needed to help Glenn and the others with the fence that was caving in from walkers.
“How bad is it?” Carl asks, standing beside Michonne.
“It’s sprained, not too badly though, but you should keep off it for now.” Gloria says, getting up to go to one of the shelves, “I’ll put a compression wrap on it to help it feel better”
Michonne nods as Gloria fishes out a package of compression bandage and goes back over to her. She kneels down again and starts to treat her ankle.
“Just like how you had to keep off your ankle for a month back at the farm?” Carl teases Gloria.
Gloria scoffs, “yes, exactly like that.”
“What happened?” Michonne tilts her head, slightly amused.
“I fell down a hill and sprained my ankle real bad. Daryl found me and took me back to Hershel’s farm.” Gloria squints at Carl, “and that’s where I found out that you got shot.”
Michonne gawks at Carl, “you never told me that.”
“Of course he didn’t, he only tells stories about when he looks cool.” Gloria teases back, earning a giggle from Carl.
“That’s not true! I told Michonne about when you took out that herd in the cabin even though you were really hurt because of Nina.” Carl retorts.
Gloria smirks at that, “thanks for spreading the word about me being a badass.”
Carl rolls his eyes and Michonne laughs, “I was sure Daryl would have killed her for that.”
“I thought so too, but thank God Rick was fast enough to hold both him and Glenn back.” Gloria says, then looks up at Michonne, “did you see her out there, by the way?”
Michonne sighs and shakes her head, “no, I didn’t see anyone out there, no Nina, no Governor, just walkers and trees.”
---
That night, Gloria was in her and Daryl’s cell sitting on the bed thinking about everything that happened that day and her mind drifted to her conversation with Michonne and Carl in the infirmary. She had taken off her jacket and was wearing a black tank top, her arms fully revealed to anyone who walked into the cell. Gloria hadn’t really thought about the incident, she just pushed it to the back of her mind since it was over and done with. Her hands wandered to the deep scars on her arms from when Nina had cut her to draw blood as a distraction for the walkers. They were the reason she never left her cell without a jacket or wearing a long sleeved shirt anymore, she needed something to cover up her scars. There wasn’t much she could do about the scar on her chest that always poked through the neck of her shirt, but she hated her scars on her arms. They gave her an insecurity she never felt before, and she wasn’t sure if she hated the feeling of being insecure more or her scars.
Daryl walks into the cell and sits beside her on the bed before letting himself fall back. Gloria glances over at him and smiles softly, subconsciously covering her arms with the blanket.
“Tired?” she asks.
“Exhausted.” he grumbles, his eyes closed, “Rick had to kill the pigs... needed to distract the walkers from breakin’ down the fence.”
Gloria sighs, “poor Carl... he was getting attached to them.”
There’s a silence between them as Daryl takes a long pause, “someone killed Karen and David.”
“W-what?” Gloria stares at him in shock, she knew that David and Karen had caught whatever influenza that killed Patrick and had them in another cell block away from the others, but she never thought anyone would ever think to kill them.
“Tyreese went to give Karen flowers but saw a trail of their blood... then found their bodies burnt to a crisp.” Daryl sighs.
Gloria didn’t know what to say, she could never imagine how Tyreese would be feeling. She wraps the blanket tighter around her arms, as if that would make everything better. Daryl opens his eyes as he notices her silence. He looks at her and sees her all wrapped up in the blanket. He lets out a breath, he never brought it up to her but he noticed how she became very insecure about her arms after her incident with Nina. He hated it. Daryl always saw her as beautiful, flawless, perfect. Even with her scars now, she was still perfect to him, but now those damn scars would prevent her from seeing it herself and that angered him.
Daryl sits up on the bed and moves closer to Gloria, tugging the blanket off her shoulders and wrapping his arm around her lower back, he plants a lingering kiss on the tip of the scar on her upper arm. Gloria looks at him and a small shy smile tugs at her lips. She reaches over to hold his hand that’s resting in his lap. Daryl moves up and kisses her shoulder then leans in, gently kissing her lips.
“Ya okay?” Daryl whispers on her lips.
Gloria nods, caressing his face with her other hand, “yeah, you should rest, you had a long day and there’s a council meeting early tomorrow morning.”
Daryl sighs at her reminder and nods. He shifts to lie down on the bed, pulling Gloria into his arms, causing her to giggle slightly as he holds her close, snuggling her as he drifts off to sleep.

okay you seem really nice lol, but idk if you take random prompts and its fine if you don't but i've really been feeling a "they get tied together and derek is in the back with stiles pressed against him omg-" fic ever since i saw a fan art like that for one of my other otp's,, so like if you could??? thatd be great
Oh heck yeah, I’m always down for a random prompt! And oh my gosh, this one is absolutely fantastic.
- -
Stiles thought this sounded like the beginning of a bad joke.
Two people get tied together back to back— an Alpha werewolf and the local token human— and one tries to get loose and accidentally ends up in a compromising position. What happens then? Absolutely nothing good for the innocent teenager that said Alpha werewolf is currently pressed up against.
Stiles hated everything sometimes.
It started when Stiles had been used as bait for the newest threat of Beacon Hills. He thought hunters were a little tiring, especially because they’d just come off of a bloodthirsty witch and that had been the ride of a lifetime. So when Jackson offered him up to be the hook, line, and sinker, he didn’t even try to argue. Their pack could handle a few hunters, after all.
Stiles had been wrong before.
He decided later, with a bloody nose and black eye as he lied tied up on the cold floor, that he hated everything. Hunters, werewolves, all the jazz. Stiles just wanted a nap and then maybe some curly fries.
After this, someone was buying him curly fries.
Stiles tried not to wince as he heard the sound of approaching footsteps, trying to draw into himself as much as he could. But the hands bound behind his back didn’t help. Nor did that fact that his entire body screamed in pain every time he dared to move an inch.
The hunter knelt down in front of him and Stiles got an eyeful of brown teeth.
“We’ll ask you one more time, boy. Where is the Hale-McCall pack?”
“Dude,” Stiles said, trying to roll away. “Breath freshener, whitening toothpaste, or something. Please invest.”
Stiles’s words were rewarded with a kick to the ribs, which he really should have expected. That didn’t change the fact that his breaths leaped from his lungs, though, or how he curled in on himself even more, choking out a small cry of pain.
Brown-teeth sneered down at him. “Wanna try that again?”
“I thought you were only asking me one more time.”
Stiles got another kick, harder this time. He tried to bite back his noise of pain but it came out anyway, more of a whine than a cry through gritted teeth. Laughter rolled around the room and Stiles gasped welty into the floor, tasting blood in his mouth.
“Come on boy,” the hunter said, crouching down again. “Is the pain really worth protecting a bunch of mutts? Tell us where we can find the Hale-McCall pack and we’ll let you go.”
“Minty gum works too,” Stiles said in a gasp. “With the stench at least, if you’re too lazy to brush.”
“Mouthy little shit—”
Before the hunter could strike him again, a loud roar filled the air. Stiles’s heart leaped and he tried to look up, only to groan and curl back in on himself. His everything hurt and honestly, he was surprised he was still conscious right now.
He heard… a growl. A single growl. Nothing else, no resounding howls or thankful sounds of rescue. Stiles blinked a few times as a gunshot filled the air followed by the sound of cheers.
Stiles’s heart plummeted. In five seconds, someone was being tossed next to him and he didn’t have to look long to realize who it was.
Stiles swallowed the taste of blood in his mouth. Derek laid next to him, a glowing bullet in his shoulder while his chest rose and fell in pants. Slowly, despite himself, Stiles raised a brow.
“Hey there, Sourwolf. You come to save me?”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“I’m feeling very good about this entire situation right now. Thanks a ton.”
“Stiles.”
There was a footstep right behind Stiles’s head. He winced and cursed as brown-teeth leaned down again, glancing between them. Derek snarled weakly and Stiles only rolled his eyes.
“Well,” the man said. “The Hale Alpha and the pack human?”
“I never get a cool title,” Stiles grumbled. Derek gave him a red-eyed look, which Stiles pointedly ignored. He was aware of a hand on his arm, yanking him up, and his entire body screamed in pain at the sudden movement.
He didn’t mean to make a noise, but it just slipped out. Derek snarled again and the man laughed, dragging Stiles to his feet. But he didn’t make it all the way before his world was dipping in and out of darkness. Stiles tried to stay conscious— he really did.
But it was a losing battle from the start.
By the time Derek was trying to rise to his feet, only to get kicked back down again, Stiles had given into the black. He heard the man call his name, was aware of the floor coming again, too fast this time. And then… nothing.
Nothing.
Stiles thought that right now, he liked it better that way.
-
So where was he? Oh yeah, the beginning of a bad joke.
Stiles woke up with his hands bound behind his back. The first thing he thought was that his head pounded. The second was more along the lines of how hot he was— and not just to the eyes. Stiles felt like he was being pressed against a space heater.
His third realization was that he basically was.
“Stiles,” Derek said, shifting carefully. “Are you awake?”
“No,” Stiles whined. “Or at least, I don’t want to be. Knock me back out again, please.”
The man sighed.
Glancing around, Stiles realized they were alone. He didn’t know if that was a good thing or not, attempting to shift in his bonds only to groan. The pain pounded through his head and rippled all the way down the rest of him, like a full body ache he couldn’t escape.
Until Derek caught his hand, that was. Then slowly, some of the pain ebbed away.
“Okay,” Stiles said tiredly. “What now?”
“Someone will find us.”
“Someone like Scott? Who occasionally gets lost trying to find his own shadow?”
“Someone like Lydia,” Derek said. “Or Boyd.”
“Yay for Lydia and Boyd.”
“Would you rather be stuck alone in this?”
Stiles thought about that for a moment. Derek growled at his silence and Stiles couldn’t help smirking a little, feeling much better now that the man was taking some of his pain. But then Derek pulled away and Stiles whined again.
“Hey, no, dude, put your hand back on mine. I hurt!”
“I have a bullet in my shoulder, Stiles.”
Oh yeah. That was a thing too.
“Well,” Stiles said, refusing to be cowed. “That’s usually what happens when you come bursting into a hunter’s safehouse alone. What the hell is even with that anyway? Why didn’t you bring the rest of the pack?”
“I didn’t think I’d need them.”
“You didn’t— oh my god, Derek, I hate your Alpha ego sometimes.”
Derek only huffed. Stiles really hated him.
“Fine, is there anything you can do? These are ropes, have you tried like, chewing your way out of them or something?”
He was pretty sure the man tried to shoot a glare over his shoulder. “Wolfsbane infused, Stiles.”
“Well, that’s just fantastic.”
“Your comments aren’t helping.”
“Should I start screaming for help instead? I mean, that might end up attracting the hunters, but I can scream pretty loud when I want to. The pack might hear if we’re lucky.”
“No, Stiles,” Derek said, sounding pained. Stiles sighed.
“Fine, but neither of us are dying here. Not you and your stupid shoulder wound or me and my stupid everywhere else wounds.”
Derek tensed against him. “Are they bad?”
“They?”
“Your injuries, Stiles.”
“Oh,” Stiles said, shifting a little bit. “Okay, no not really. Just a bruise or two, a black eye and a split lip. I think brown-teeth might have cracked a rib but—”
“Brown teeth?”
Stiles grinned, despite himself. “Am I wrong though?”
Derek huffed.
“Okay,” Stiles said. “What if one of us managed to wiggle out of the ropes. I mean, I could probably do it. I’m small and wiggly and—”
“And you have a cracked rib.”
“I should’ve known not to tell you about that.”
Derek sighed. Stiles squeaked in surprised as the man was suddenly moving, and then the ropes across his chest were twisting and moving along with Derek’s attempts to break free. In a matter of moments, Stiles realized the man was in a whole new position, but it was definitely not free.
“Derek,” he said, blinking at the opposite wall. “Please tell me you didn’t.”
The man didn’t answer. Stiles glanced to each side and nodded as he spotted the large legs straddling him. Because yeah, this was just his luck. And things couldn’t get any better.
“I swear to god,” he said, wishing Derek could see the venomous look currently on his face. “The next time you don’t let me do the wiggling because of a ‘cracked rib’, please remember that things like this happen.”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“I’m just saying,” Stiles said. “This right now? This should count as a cruel and unusual punishment.”
“I could make it cruel and unusual.”
“Please don’t say things like that when certain parts of you are literally pressed against certain parts of me.”
“Stiles.”
“What, Sourwolf, are you going to tell me to shut up again? Because I’ll have you know I’ve had just about enough of that and you and— Derek.”
The man didn’t answer, but he’d gone rigid pressed up against Stiles’s back. Stiles closed his eyes for a long moment and took a deep breath, trying to calm his sudden rapidly pounding heart. It didn’t help much.
“Derek,” he said, voice cracking. “Stop that.”
“I’m not doing anything.”
“Some part of you is doing something.”
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“Why, is me talking a turn on? Oh my god, me talking is totally a turn on. Derek! Stop that!”
“I’m not doing anything,” the man snarled, breaths hot against his ear. And suddenly, Stiles’s heart was pounding for a whole new reason. This was so totally not fair.
“You are doing everything right now, asshole.”
“Then stop talking!”
“I always lived under the impression that my talking was a boner-killer, not the magic spell that brings one to life!”
Silence fell over the warehouse. Stiles’s face was red and hot and he forced himself not to shift, trying to relax against Derek’s chest instead. But then Derek made a small noise at the back of his throat and Stiles realized that wasn’t an option either.
“Okay,” he said softly. “How did I never know this was possible until we were literally sitting on death’s door?”
“I hate you.”
“Clearly, not all of you does.”
“Stiles, I swear to god—”
“Okay, okay,” Stiles said. “We don’t know how much longer we have until the hunters come back. Now, as terrified as I am that they come to kill us, I’m even more terrified of being caught in this position right now. So can we please try to figure out how to get out of these ropes?”
Derek didn’t answer for a moment. Then the man sighed. “I can’t break them, but maybe you can.”
“Maybe I can? How.”
“I don’t know, Stiles, use your teeth or something.”
“You want me to bend over,” Stiles said, his heart thudding against his chest even harder. “And attempt to chew through the ropes.”
Once more, Derek was silent. Stiles scoffed.
“I thought so.”
“So you’d rather we just wait here to die?”
“I’d rather we not be in the position at all, Sourwolf!”
“Oh, it’s that bad, is it?”
Stiles clenched his jaw and didn’t answer. He glared at the wall for a long moment before glancing down at the ropes circling his chest. He supposed he could try. After all, what dignity did he really have left?
“Okay,” he said quietly. “If I try this—”
“You don’t have to, Stiles.”
“I’d rather get out of here alive than dead, Sourwolf.”
Derek sighed, breaths warm on the back of Stiles’s neck. He still shivered, despite himself, and then tensed even more when he heard the man murmur a quiet “sorry”.
“Uh, dude? What for?”
“I don’t,” Derek said, and then cursed. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“Oh,” Stiles said intelligently. He blinked a few times before it really sunk in. “Oh. I mean, dude, I’m a little hot right now. You radiate warmth like a space heater, you know that? And the ropes are rubbing a little uncomfortably across my chest—”
“Stiles.”
“Okay,” Stiles said quietly. “You’re not making me uncomfortable. I just… didn’t realize?”
“Realize what.”
“That clearly, dude, you’re all about this hot bod.”
Derek’s sigh was one-hundred percent pained. But Stiles grinned a little bit to himself, wishing he could meet the man’s gaze. He startled as Derek rested his chin on Stiles’s shoulder and the man’s lips brushed against the shell of his ear, making him shiver.
“Stiles,” Derek said softly. “Get us out of these ropes.”
“Oh my god,” Stiles squeaked. “Right away.”
Except, before he could even do anything, the door across the warehouse burst open. Stiles startled so hard, he spilled sideways. Faintly, he heard Derek shout his name, blinked as the world started to tip, and then they were both crashing hard against the floor, the impact making Stiles feeling like he’d cracked another two ribs or so.
“Oh,” Stiles said, voice cracking. “Ouch.”
“Dammit, Stiles.”
The sound of laughter filled the air as a couple pairs of footsteps approached. Stiles felt his face go hot and fixed his gaze on the floor, even as brown-teeth stood over him.
“Trying to go somewhere, boy?”
“No,” Stiles said. “Just, uh, hanging out. You know? Having a hell of a time right now.”
“You amuse me. I might kill you last.”
“... Is there any way I can dissuade you from killing me at all?”
The man chuckled and grabbed Stiles by the hair, starting to tilt his head upward. But suddenly there was a bang, a crash, and then a series of howls that struck the air.
Stiles had never felt so relieved.
Brown-teeth let his head fall back down and Stiles grunted in pain. But he’d take the stars flashing before his vision if it came with a rescue. Derek shifted against his back and Stiles felt warm breaths against his skin again.
He tensed as someone moved around the room toward them. Stiles snarled at the back of his throat as a shadow fell over them again but then Erica laughed and Stiles went silent.
He turned his head upward, blinking at the beta. She was smirking from ear to ear, eyes flicking from Stiles, to Derek, and then back.
“Well, it looks like you two got in a messy situation.”
“Erica,” Stiles groaned. “Just get us out.”
“Hm,” she said, glancing at the ropes. “That’s wolfsbane. Have you tried using your teeth?”
Derek growled, but the beta only smirked wider. Stiles had to remind himself that murder was illegal and he was the Sheriff’s son.
Still, relief crashed over him like no other when Allison came running across the room. Stiles had never been so happy to see another pack human in his entire life.
Allison glanced over them, shared an amused look with Erica, and then dropped down, slicing through the ropes. Stiles slumped forward, wincing a little as the extra weight was put onto his rib cage. In a moment, Scott was moving across the room toward him, but Stiles waved a hand through the air, gesturing toward Derek.
“He’s the one with a wolfsbane bullet embedded in his shoulder.”
“No,” Derek growled. “He’s got a cracked rib.”
“Two now, I think,” Stiles said in a groan. “But that won’t kill me, asshole. Stop trying to be heroic.”
“You stop—”
“Okay,” Boyd said, cutting in. “There are more of us than you. Derek, do you need Deaton?”
“I need a bullet. And Stiles needs a hospital.”
“Oh my god,” Stiles said. “I hate you so much sometimes.”
“Lie.”
“Shut up.”
“Um, alright,” Scott said. “We’re going to do one more sweep of the warehouse. You two… figure this out?”
Stiles gave his best friend a withering look but Scott only smiled apologetically and backed away. As the rest of the betas followed, Stiles turned the look toward Derek. But at the man’s sweeping gaze over him, with concern in his eyes, any and all irritation melted.
“So,” Stiles said. Derek rolled his eyes, shifting a little with a grunt.
“Shut up, Stiles.”
“What, are we just never going to talk about this again?”
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” Derek mumbled. Stiles looked at him for a long moment before cursing everything. Why was Derek always so difficult?
A spastic teenager and an emotionally constipated werewolf try to admit their feelings. Sounded like the beginning of a bad joke.
“Derek,” he said softly. “You don’t make me uncomfortable.”
The man eyed him dubiously. Still rolled his eyes.
“Okay, but not in a bad way. Only like, when I’m trying not to get an inappropriate boner during shirtless trainings, or when you give the betas red-eyed looks, or when—”
“Stiles.”
Stiles frowned. “The point is, I’m—”
“A teenager.”
“Eighteen.”
“Who can’t control himself, but I should be able to—”
“Derek, shut up.”
Derek gave him a sour look. Pushing himself up with a grunt, Stiles leaned forward and cupped the man’s chin, studying his face.
“Is this control?”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it.”
“This,” Stiles said. “Is control. And this,”  he leaned closer, touching his lips to the man’s forehead, “is proof that maybe I would like to lose it sometimes, but in every good way possible—”
Derek cut him off by turning his face upward and catching his lips. Stiles grinned and hummed his approval, making Derek growl.
They were cut off by clapping behind them. Erica looked smug, the other betas looked uncomfortable, and Scott just looked a little confused. Derek glared but Erica only grinned wider.
“Too bad all the hunters are dead. I totally would have thanked them.”
“Erica.”
“I mean all that unsolved sexual tension—”
“Erica.”
But Stiles only grinned back at her. Because a werewolf and a human get tied together; sounds like the start to a bad joke. That’s what he thought about three hours ago, at least.
The punchline though? Stiles supposed it was satisfactory in the end.
To say the least.

Bucky Barnes: Hurt [pt.1]
Part 1 | Part 2
Tumblr media
PLOT:  You had been abused at home, and when you finally decide that you’ve had enough, you run away, quickly finding yourself at SHIELD Headquarters.
•••
I sat on the corner of the couch once I had put the disk in the CD player. The movie starts to play and I lean back a little further into the couch, reminding myself that they aren't here and that I can relax.
World war 2 was a time of distraction and misery for the people living in it, although you could come out as a man, you could also die for your country. Either way, you would still be a hero, thanked by many people for your hard work and dedication.
It had always intrigued me WWII and so that's why when I found it lying in a pile on the ground I had too watch it.
About 1/4 of the way into the movie, the real exciting bits come in, explaining Germany and America fighting and how as they call him Captain America fought for his country alongside his best friend James Buchanan Barnes.
"Move!" I hear him yell, instantly, I get up and move off the couch, letting my father sit down. He had a bottle of whiskey in his hand and I take a deep breath remembering the previous night where he had repeatedly bashed me because he was drunk. My mum shoves past me while smoking some sort of drug and takes a seat next to my dad, handing him the cigarette.
"What are you doing dog? Go and finish the chores, and for the love of God, turn this shit off my TV!" My father yells and I scramble quickly to turn the CD player off. Another TV show comes on and I step aside.
I play with my fingers debating if I should tell him that I had already done everything. He should be happy that I've done everything, right? "I finished everything." I say quickly and he glares at me.
"Did you just back chat me?!" My dad yells, I gulp. Never mind, he isn't happy at all.
"No, I was just-" I stop myself realising I actually was back chatting him now. He stands and pulls a gun from his pocket, my eyes widen with fear and he points it at me. I was frozen to the stop as he stalks towards me hitting me with the back of his hand.
I gaps and fall to the floor, blood filling my mouth. "I'm sick of you back chatting me animal! You should learn to respect me!" My father roars and points the gun to my head. I start crying. He kicks me in the stomach and in the ankle, I hear a pretty loud crack and cry out as excruciating pain burns through my ankle and foot.
He loads the gun and is about to pull the trigger but I move back and the bullet hits the wall, the sound ringing through me ears, I can't hear anything. I see his mouth moving, he's yelling at me, but I can't hear.
His presses the barrel to my head again but I stand and push him before running out of the house, towards the woods. My hearing comes back all of a sudden and I hear a gunshot, it misses me but I keep going. I wasn't going to stop, even if my ankle was killing me.
I don't know how long I've been running, or where I am but I see lights. My feet burn, begging for a break but I won't let them. As I got closer to the building I start screaming for help.
As I reached the steel doors, I bang, bang for my life. "Let me in, let me in!" I repeat screaming. Headlights shine behind me and I hear my father yell.
"Someone help, please let me in!" I scream louder then ever, he was stalking towards me when suddenly something flies and kicks him in the head, my father growls and stands up. The doors open then and I scramble in, falling to my hands and knees. Whatever had kicked my dad was gone and he walks towards me again.
"No, leave me alone!" I scream.
"I won't let you touch her." Someone says behind me, I look up and see a women around my age with red hair. Someone's hands touch me arms and I flinch.
"Shh, your going to be okay." They say. I look up and see Captain America... wait, Captain America? "Just stay here." He says.
He moves forward in front of me and so does the women. Suddenly a man with wings stands in front of me too.
Oh God, I'm dreaming... or dead.
"Come on guys, that's my daughter. My lovely daughter, I'll be needing her back now." My dad says.
"Not happening as long as I'm standing here." Captain America says. Suddenly, another person grabs onto you and you squeal as they drag you back.
"Hey, hey. I'm going to help you, just let me take you inside." They whisper. Everything start spinning rapidly as you fall back and hit your head on the concrete floor.
"If your not Ed Sheeran I'm going to be disappointed." I mumble seeming I've seen Captain America and a winged man, what's the chance of meeting Ed Sheeran?
My eyes flutter closed as they carry me inside.
- A pain shoots through my body and I let out a scream trying to move away. "Please stay still." A man speaks, I whimper as they rub on my ribcage and I open my eyes. The man smiles and turns away from me, going back to a bottle putting on some lotion and turning back around.
"Please don't hurt me." I whisper, my fear strong and my body aching.
The man sighs and takes a seat on the stool, "I'm not going to hurt you, I'm here to help. My name is Bruce, Bruce Banner. Although I'm not specialized in this type of area, I can help you out."
I continue to stare at him not quite trusting him, but he steps closer and rubs the cotton ball along my rib cage again. I hiss out and whimper loudly.
"You've been shot, it only scraped across you ribcage though so it should heal quickly and properly." Bruce says and smiles sadly at me. I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
The door then opens and someone steps inside, "how is she Banner?" They ask, another male. Yay!
"She is doing fine, other then the torn ligament, sprained arm, fractured ribs, bullets wound and multiple bruises along her body." They say.
"So... she's not well at all." They laugh and I open my eyes...
"You have go to be kidding me... I swear I'm dreaming... now its Ironman?" I sigh and wince at the pain.
"Hey kiddo, how you going, pain wise?" Ironman says overlooking the screen.
I stutter among my words, "probably l- like a 8ish." I say slowly, closing my eyes. "Out of 8."
"Let me get you some painkillers." He says and exits the room. As he exits the room Captain America walks in... yep, of course. He sets his shield down and walks over to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"You alright?" He asks.
I'm dreaming, holy shit. I am dreaming...
"Uh, yeah, I'm fine. Are you real?" I ask as the man walks back in again.
He chuckles and nods his head, "yes, I'm very real. This isn't a dream."
"Good. I don't want to be dreaming, cuz it means I'd still be... there..." The word comes out cold and feared. "Um Capta-"
"Please, call me Steve." Steve says and I smile at him.
"Steve, why are you and the other people helping someone like me?"
Steve smiles at me and I feel safe, "because, no person such as yourself should go through that."
I smile weakly and Bruce gets a needle, "alright. I'm going to give you some anesthesia, when was the last time you slept?" He asks.
I try and think the last time I slept, "umm, maybe 4 nights ago, even then I slept for about an hour."
Bruce nods then shakes his head sadly, "when's the last time you ate?"
"About a week ago..." I mumble.
"Do you remember what it was?" Bruce puts down the needle and grabs a notepad and pen.
"A piece of toast." I say.
"How about the last time you stepped outside, your very pale, I'm not sure if that's because you are naturally this pale or..."
"What month is it?" I ask, I didn't know the month and Bruce looks up at me almost shocked.
"March."
I struggle to remember when the last time I stepped outside other than running away from my family. "Well, my cousins birthday was August last year and I had to clean up the table... That's the last time I stepped outside I'm pretty sure."
Steve shakes his head and so does Bruce.
"Okay, were going to give the anesthesia, when you wake up we'll give you some vitamins, food, shower... anything you need." Steve says and I smile.
Bruce comes near me with the needle and it pricks my skin slightly. "Sorry." Bruce mutters.
"It didn't hurt." I laugh a little. My first laugh in what feels like forever.
The drug quickly starts over taking my body and I smile."Thank you guys, for everything." I whisper as I let myself fall deep into sleep.
Never had I known it to be so peaceful...

Spoilers!!!
This is a big dump of some of my thoughts while I watched the finale. I have a lot so I thought it might be better to just write it all down incoherently in one post.
I’m keeping this 90% positive because I really did LOVE the finale!! It was so good! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I laughed, I cried a lot, a smiled so much. It was great and I wanna talk about it.
For the most part I loved the finale. There are only a few things I’d change.
1. I’d cut out the last 5 minutes. There’s no appearance by Catherine. Steve said his goodbyes, left, boarded the plane and got the text from Danny. He smiles looks out of the window and that’s it. No Catherine.
2. I’d give that extra time to the Danny and Steve goodbye but I felt a bit disappointed by it.  I think if there was more “I’ll be back before you notice I’m gone” type of banter and some heartfelt hugging between both of them and Danny wishing Steve well and telling him he’d better come back soon then I’d be 100% content. Maybe even Danny coming back inside the house with Steve cause he knows the team is coming next and his boy is gonna need some support. I can picture him just sorta of hanging off to the side while Steve has his moments with the team. Then they ALL say goodbye as he leaves. That would have been perfect.
3. I also didn’t like that Steve left only a week after Danny almost died. That’s crap. He’d leave while Danny is still healing? Yeah right. Could have at least made it a month. I could have been happier at that.
With that said, here’s my live reactions as I watched:
Flashback with Victor and Wo Fat planning the pilot!! WHAT!
Oh shit Daiyu Mei is watching them at the cemetery from last episode. Ahh yes see Steve did drive to the cemetery. It's like people forgot he has a truck and doesn’t always drive Danny’s camero.
LINCOLNS CONTACT ISN’T CATHERINE OH THANK FUCK!!!! I was so sure she’d pop up and be in the whole episode. Phew!
Okay Steve looks kinda nostalgic but not quite wistful over her. Good, good.
HAHAHA!! Steve immediately said bye and pulled out of there to go save Danny, not even telling the contact anything. Gotta go save Danno. Sorry dude.
Also, love that Danny was in trouble with the tail and thought "I need my husband. He'll take these guys out" and calls him.
Oh fuck! Steve's face!! Hes so worried! The gunshots and Danny not answering! Ahh!
STEVE RUNNING STRAIGHT INTO THE FIRE BECAUSE HE THINKS DANNO IS IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve: "Danny Williams. You know who he is. My partner."
Even kidnapped and tortured Danny makes a joke about his car and exchanging insurance information 🤣
STEVE IS PUTTING THE ENTIRE POLICE ON FINDING DANNY INCLUDING EVERYONE WITH A BADGE AND EVERY HELICOPTER!! IM DYING!!!
I LOVE THIS TROPE!!!!! The bad guy calling the loved one and showing them a video of whumpee in chains covered in blood. So fucking good
"I HAVE THE ONE PERSON THAT YOU CARE ABOUT MOST IN THE WORLD”    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
“Don't make the same mistake as you did with your father”  !!!! Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!
Dammit Adam of course Steve is going to follow her directions and go alone. He'll do anything to save danny.
No messing around. Get the address, confirm hes alive, give the cypher and hes out
Danny telling the bad guys he better call his family and say goodbye because he has no idea what's coming for him is AMAZING!
OH FUCK DANNO YOU FUCKING BADASS!!!! LOOK AT YOU!!! HOT DAMN!!! Climbing up the chains like spiderman and breaking them off and then killing nearly every bad guy!? Fuck!
Oh shit!!!! Theres the shot!!! Danny’s down!!!
Ahhhh everyone's here now!!
STEVE IS CARRYING DANNO OUT!!! AND SPEAKING TO HIM SO SOFTLY AND GENTLY! "You gotta crawl in there buddy"
HES CRADLING HIM IN HIS FUCKING LAP!!!!!! IM NOW OFFICIALLY DEAD!!!!!
IM CRYING!!!! He wants so desperately to go in the room with him 😭😭😭
MY HEART!!! IM SCREAMING!!!
Oh my god hes praying. Steve is literally asking God to not take Danny. "You want someone you take me. Not him. You take me"
FUCK ME
Steve’s heartbroken. He doesn't care about the cypher. Not with danny in the hospital
Oh I love lincoln. Hes a good egg.
"That was very mcgarrett of you" HA!
Ohhh here’s the doctor. “Hes not out of the woods yet” “Can I see him”
MY HEART CAN’T TAKE THIS!
OH MY GOD YOU’RE KILLING ME WITH THE INA PAHA SONG RIGHT AS STEVE GOES IN TO SEE DANNY!! AS HE SITS DOWN AND TAKES HOLD OF HIS HAND
I CANT TAKE IT
Oh no Lincoln’s contact is dead. That means Catherine right? Well fuck. Shit. No. Dammit I don’t want to see her.
Yay! Danny's awake!! Did he just say something along the lines of “why’d you stop holding my hand?” CAUSE IF I HEARD THAT RIGHT I’M SERIOUSLY GONNA EXPLODE
“If I had a dollar for every time you've saved my life I'd have like 20 bucks” DANNY!
“Reminds me of what I went through with my dad” Oh Steven you’re making me cry babe.
NO CATHERINE SO FAR!! YES!!! They cracked the cypher and still no her!! Woo!!!
Ugh. Of course something was hidden in Doris' crypt. Keeping her bullshit secrets until the end. I hate her so much.
The is the most romantic McDanno episode I've ever watched.
I’m always here for a badass ohana shootout scene and this did not disappoint. I screamed when Lincoln took down that guy. So fucking badass.
Ugggghhhhh fuck doris. Wo Fat really is her son. So dumb!!!
These flashbacks are awesome. Wow. John talking to wo fat was crazy.
That goodbye with Danny was shit. Super shit. I do love Danny saying that he loves hawaii now and blaming Steve for it but the rest was bleh. Danny was so angry and sad that Steve is leaving that they didn’t properly say goodbye. At least Steve said it's not forever and that Danny has a phone.
The goodbyes with everyone else made me sob like a baby. That was 100% the cast saying goodbye to Alex wasn’t it. Cause that shit hurted. Started sobbing at Lou’s goodbye and I’m still sobbing now as I type this.
"Missing you already" MY HEART!!! THAT’S SO CUTE. LOOK AT STEVE’S SMILE. It’s like Danno went “shit I can’t let him go thinking I’m mad at him. I know. Let me send this true but kinda funny text.”
Fuck its Catherine. Fuck. That sucks. SO MUCH! WHYYYYYYYY!!! WHY IS SHE HERE!!! At least Steve didn’t expect her or call her or something. She wasn’t on his mind. She just wormed her way back into his life like always. God I hate her. And I hate Lenkov for having a hard on for this ship.
I generally thought that Danny was gonna sit down next to Steve on that plane up until we saw Catherine’s hair. Even when he got the text from Danny I still thought maybe cause that’s something Danno would pull but nope. I’m a clown. 🤡
Just gonna pretend those last few minutes didn’t happen. The show ended with Danno’s text.
Annnnd I’M A FUCKING MESS OF TEARS!

Nanase Riku: Wonderful Octave Rabbit Chat Part 3
7: Sorry to make you wait! We finished the presentation.
5: Sorry that it took some time. I got the OK from Tamaki-kun so my request is okay as-is.
T: Good work! I’m glad the presentation was a success!
7: Since it’s a request corner, it’s better if everyone enjoys it!
4: Rikkun, you promised to definitely do a funny story,
4: And if it’s too scary, So-chan said he’ll plug my ears
5: It’s unreliable just with earplugs, so I’ll pat his ears.
8: That’s a solid guard (lol)
4: [Punching Pudding Stamp]
100: Sougo, you are a genius! If you use that, maybe we could do a horror movie night with Yuki too?!
1000: Can I close my eyes during the whole movie?
100: It’s fine! I’ll stand in front of the TV and be the wall! \(`・ω・)/
3: The meaning of watching it together lolololol
7: Oh yeah, there are a lot of people who are bad with ghosts huh… But they are unexpectedly frank if you talk to them!
1: They…?
9: Riku was liked by a lot of people since the past.
10: Tenn, somehow you seem happy!
T: Since Sougo-san’s request was decided on safely, I’ll start managing the chat again! Mitsuki-san, can I ask you?
3: OKAY! From me it’s, “Tell us which IDOLiSH7 song you like the most!”
3: I wanted to ask what our center thought of the songs we’ve sung until now!
7: Uwaaaah! That’s a super hard question..!
7: Because I like all the songs. The songs where I’m the center, the songs where I’m not, I’m attached to each song, I don’t think I can decide!
5: Memories exist in the songs huh. Like the feelings will come back just by listening to the songs.
7: Right! No matter the memory, they’re all special and I want to treasure them preciously.
7: Does it have to be one song…?
3: Certainly, I also can’t pick just one song. It was too hard of a request huh!
3: Then, I’ll change it to “Which IDOLiSH7 song makes you cheerful?!”
7: If it’s that, I can choose! Hyped up songs like Joker Flag and Monster Generation might be good!
10: Songs that make you dance huh. It fits this season too!
100: It makes me want to do a live together~ (δ≧∀≦)δ
7: Ah, but, I can’t ignore Fure Fure! Even though it’s a unit song...
7: And we definitely have to sing Nanatsuiro!
3: Riku, you’re not choosing at all! lol
1000: You want people to listen to any songs right.
7: Yes! But I was a little bit too greedy lol
7: Mitsuki, I’ll think about it properly until the on-air!
3: Please do!
T: I’m looking forward to Riku-san’s recommended hyped up song!
T:  Next is the request from Yamato-san please.
2: From me it’s “I want a morning voice that I can calmly wake up to.”
7: You want to wake up with my voice?!
2: Right right. I want an alarm that wakes me nicely.
2: Because my alarm is violent.
6: What do you mean?
7: Maybe it’s loud!
4: Yama-san, you should buy a new one.
3: Yamato-san, don’t mind it! They aren’t understanding it at all lol
5: I’m sorry! I thought waking you up at once with a strong impact would be efficient...
2: I’ll work hard to be able to wake myself early...
1000: So IDOLiSH7’s alarm is violent huh
8: Yuki-san is also bad with mornings huh. What do you do?
1000: I’ve woken up in the car or arriving at the studio. Maybe there are dwarves near me.
100: v(`ゝω・′)
Okazaki: I’m the second dwarf.
10000: That’s a superior dwarf lol
T: Waking up early is hard huh! Next is the request from Yaotome-san please!
8: My request for Nanase is, “If you were to play with us, what would you want to play?”
7: Eh! You’ll play with me?!
8: Yeah. This is a job project but this kind of thing would be nice right? Plus occasionally I want to go play with Nanase.
7: Waaah! I’m happy!
7: [Spinning Pudding Stamp]
9: Riku, don’t follow everyone.
1: He would follow a stranger by being tempted with a single candy...
7: I wouldn’t!
8: Anyways, Tenn and Ryuu would come too. Because it’s a request about playing with “us.”
10: Take care of me, Riku-kun. Going out with everyone seems fun!
7: I’m happy! Please take care of me too!
9: I haven’t heard about that. Don’t involve me on your own.
8: Don’t say something picky. I said it now right?
9: [Glaring Pudding Stamp]
7: Tenn-nii, you don’t want to..?
9: Riku, that’s not it. If you pick Gaku’s request, we’ll go out together.
9: Because this is a radio show project, this is part of the job.
7: A job..?
7: Right.
7: Because Tenn-nii won’t come play with me if it’s not a job.
9: Riku
9: That’s not it, calm down.
9: That’s not what I want to say.
9: I’ll Rabbit Chat you later.
7: [Turned-Away Kinako Stamp]
9: Takanashi-san, please continue with the requests.
T: Y-Yes! Right!
T: So then, can I ask for a request from Tsunashi-san?
10: Yes. From me it’s “Tell me what you want to try during the summer.”!
10: Don’t you want to try something new in the hot season? Maybe because it makes me feel like I’m open-minded?
7: There’s a lot of things I want to try! Even though it would be difficult to do an intense exercise...
7: Actually, I want to try fishing. It will be cooler if it’s a mountain stream, and it would be delicious if we eat the fish we caught with everyone!
10: If it’s fishing then I’ll teach you! I’m better at sea fishing, but I did river fishing too.
7: Yay! Thank you!
3: Ooh! You got a great teacher!
100: I’m good at fishing too(*>▽<)ノ
1000: Because Momo procured food from the river nearby before.
100: I fished and Yuki collected wild grass! That neighborhood riverbed helped us a lot.
100: Even though the children playing there watched us with suspicion lololol
1000: That brings back memories. Living in poverty was fun when I was with Momo.
100: If Yuki’s there it’s 100% HAPPINESS  っ。゜(。>ω<。)゜。
7: You can eat grasses from riverbed?!
5: It’s depend on the grass, but it’s mostly fine somehow. You can eat anything if you carry soy sauce.
T: Soy sauce…! I take my hat off to you for your hardworking…!
T: Next up, can we hear the request from Momo-san please?
100: Got it! From me it’s “Flirt with people using a romantic line!”☆
100: Because Riku’s charm is about your fresh straightness, so I thought a heart-pounding request would be nice!
7: Romantic huh… I’ve said it in dramas but...
100: Will you try practicing so you don’t fail on the real deal? At first, isn’t it less embarrassing in a chat than out of your mouth?
100:  Plus I’m interested in what you think is a romantic feeling!
7: R-Right! I’m nervous but… I’ll try a little!
7: Hello! I’m Nanase Riku!
4: I knoooow
1: Everyone knows that.
7: Thank you for listening to the radio. I love everyone’s cute smiles!
7: I’ll work hard to be loved by everyone from now on too. Please always watch me!
7: How was that?!
100: Pure type is favorable! But I think I want something more drastic?
7: Hmm, that’s hard! Ah, then, I’ll do something different!
7: Ban!! [T/N: Japanese SFX for “Bang!”]
100: Ban????
1000: Ban, he’s calling you.
10000: What is it, Riku-kun?
7: Th-That’s not it! It was fanservice! A gunshot-like bang…!
7: [Pudding Peeking From Behind A Door Stamp]
100: I see! It’s not a line tho lol. But this is cute, so I think it’s okay?
7: Yay! Thank you!
T: If Riku-san shot through people’s hearts, everyone’s heart will be throbbing!
T: Lastly is Yuki-san please!
1000: It will be a tip-off from me.
1000: I’ll talk about when I saw Riku-kun at TV studio’s green room one day.
7: Eh! In the greenroom, when was it?
1000: Last week, when I was called onto IDOLiSH7’s show. It seemed Riku-kun was alone in the greenroom tho.
7: Ah! Perhaps it was when I was talking on the phone...
1000: You remembered?
7: You overheard?! That’s embarrassing..!
1000: That’s why I’ll talk ^^
8: To be that embarrassed, what were you talking about?
7: I had time so I was reading a script! I wanted a partner so I was talking on the phone…
7: Their off responses were funny, so I started to talk to the phone…!
7: Waaaah! Actually, won’t you do something else after all?!
1000: It’s fine. It was interesting and cute.
7: [Sweating Pudding Stamp]
3: If you’d asked me, I’d have practiced with you lol
T: I wonder what you were talking about..! Lol Yuki-san, thank you for the interesting request!
T: So then, that concludes the requests. Everyone, thank you!
7: Thank you!
100: So then, next is the request from Riku to us right?!
6: Riku’s wish, I’ll grant it no matter what it is.
*T: Do you have a request for us?
7: Do you know what a secret takoyaki party is? It’s takoyaki where no one will know what’s inside! Let’s do that with everyone!
100: Riku, you’re cute after all huh (。>∀<。)
8: Since it’s your birthday, you can say more lavish things.
7: This is my number one request right now!
10: So then, let us celebrate your birthday with our all!
10: It’s a little early but, Happy birthday! Let it become a special year. Let’s go fishing together okay!
10000: Happy birthday, Riku-kun!
100: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO (σ>∀<)σ RIKU♪
1000: Happy birthday. Have a good year.
Okazaki: Happy Birthday!
8: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Nanase! Let’s work hard together.
Anesagi: Happy birthday. I found a honey that’s good for the throat, so I’ll tell you later.
9: Riku, Happy birthday. Take care of your body.
T: Happy Birthday Riku-san!
7: Everyone, thank you!
7: My birthday’s a little ways away but I feel like I’ve received a special present. I’m super happy from the words of celebration and the requests!
7: We followed our senpais’ backs till now but... I want to become an idol everyone can rely on from now on!
7: I’ll give my all for “Twelve Hits!” I’ll make it a fun radio so please listen to it!
V2:
6: Riku’s wish, I’ll grant it no matter what it is.
T: Do you have a request for TRIGGER-san?
7: Please let me do a survey about what you’d be happy to receive on your birthday!
100: Riku, you’re cute after all huh (。>∀<。)
V3:
6: Riku’s wish, I’ll grant it no matter what it is.
T: Do you have a request for Re:vale-san?
7: I want you to teach me how to do fanservice well! Because I couldn’t do it well earlier...
100: Riku, you’re cute after all huh (。>∀<。)

HERE BE SPOILERS!! SPN S15 E2 - Raising Hell
Tumblr media
(gif by @sasquatchandleatherjacket, thank God for you. If you want me to remove this I will, but I honestly felt the way Sam looks right now)
Ep 2 -
Additional chess pieces: Rowena, Ketch, Kevin, Chuck, Amara
New enemies: Jack the Ripper, New faceless female demon?!
Mysteriously missing out on the fun: Woman in White, Bloody Mary, Gacy Clown
Short Version: Leader Sam is not acting normal; Jack the Ripper was annoyingly cool; Civilians are infinitely stupid. Someone tells you it is dangerous to go somewhere and you go? You could ask the people keeping you safe to go get the shit you need for emergencies, but no. Useless Angel is again useless and getting more useless, also arguing with the heroes with no solution for his damn self.
---
So yeah, the first thing we get is a surprisingly creepy start, middle of the night, human disregarding the rules, get killed by what looks like a person she knows. Oh but wait, he was possessed. Very interesting ghost, psychotic, scary actually.
Angel being useless arguing with Sam instead of making himself useful. He is stronger than the humans, so shouldn't he be on patrol?? Even shouldn't he go looking for the missing ppl?
Oh Sam, How I wish you would have just snapped a little bit harder. Why not "When we say do not go in, you do not go in! Now someone's missing, isn't that a clue? Thank you for making our jobs that much harder! Now, if you need emergency items, we have ppl to help with that who know what they are doing. Stop trying to end up dead, and do as I say!"
Oh, the new HGIC is Jack The Ripper? Oh shit.
Oh great, stupid people not listening, yet again!
Oh so JTR has trouble getting attention too. Anyway, this mofo seems to be no joke.
Civilians stand there and breathe after you heard gunshots and growling, and see dead ppl, no don't run. Yah great.
Cass, argumentative as usual. What exactly do you expect Sam and his hunters to do since they are already busy? YOU go look for stupid humans who don't listen, just like yourself.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to play: Bobbing for guest stars! Rowena sweeps in and flirts with Cass. Ugh, why?
OK, SO 12:30 SECONDS INTO THE WHOLE 45 MIN SHOW AND WE FINALLY SEE SAM AND DEAN ON THE SAME SCREEN! Yah great.
Shoot them, my guys, I am pretty sure it will hurt less than what I am afraid will happen! YEP I. WAS. RIGHT!!!!!
And the brothers' scene together is over at 13:36 for commercial but resumes at 16:30 and goes through 19:00… so far. Total of about 5mins, 30secs. Anxiously waiting for more…
Guest Star # 2! Ketch is in the line-up!
OH! And a gun that shoots Iron Flakes. (in Bobby's voice)Used to be when you needed to get a ghost outta ya, you'd take a hit of rock salt. It would hurt like a bitch, but you'd live. And these two maybe wouldn't have gotten their guts ripped up waiting on Ketch's appearance with his new convenient toy!!!
Meanwhile, what a convenient way to bring up a new demon. Female named Ardat. GREAT…
Chuck and Sissy sitting in a tree, A-R-G-U-I-N-G. Why do they sound like an old married couple already? Oh yeah, because apparently, it is better to be hetero and incestuous than… NVM won't go there.
ANYWAY… 6th grader 'does so and so like me' bullshit from Rowena, I can only guess that is coming up on Ketch's side. Poor Dean. Then USELESS wants to try to start a convo Dean definitely doesn't wanna hear. And why is he trying to preach that all of this is supposed to happen like this anyway! That's life let's just move on?! Are you fucking serious?! Oh and that supposed inspirational, but actually desperate grab "We are" was so damn stupid. Like I keep saying, USELESS.
Oh and their screen time in case no one cares: 20:50 through 23:15. Total less than 2mins, 25 secs. And it was a painfully dry conversation I could well have done without.
Was so very right about the 6th grader bullshit! Oh great, instead of Salt hula hoops and gun bungees, we get loose ass chain links of iron around the neck that can fall off at any time! Tell me Mr. BMOL, how come you don’t have a convenient better-thing-than-an-iron-chain-link-necklace!!!!
Hello, 'nother guest star. It's Kevin Tran, everyone! Thanks for conveniently saving the moment again. And after the demon kid tells you multiple times that the wards are temporary, KEVIN tells you once that it is weakening and yay! It hits home. Don't get mad at the demon for not listening.
Chuck and Sissy sitting in a tree, A-R-G-U-I-N-G. Again. Little retreat? Priceless relationship? He wants to deepen what they have? Start a new species?! GURRL JUST SAY NO! Ohh but she figured him out, so now the trouble starts. He's low on power, he needs her help, he's scared.
Brother time! 34:10 through… hold on while I catch this, why is it always Sam to give away a secret? And why is Belphegor being a snoopy little sneak? Oh and suddenly he makes more sense than experience?! They cannot get Kevin to heaven cuz Chuck isn't their friend anymore? I am sure spells still work... 35:30…
OOH! Break for shoulder issue… and back to bros at 35:38-ish and back and forth for a few secs again because Chuck is freaking out. It is like the deity has never felt pain before. But that would mean he forgot when Amara punched him in his figurative balls last time huh? You 'member, when he almost DIED?
So Dean is worried again, but Sam refuses to even acknowledge it (kinda badass, kinda stubbornly stupid). OK, Bros done at about 35:58. Another generous minute and some. Geez.
Whoops, Kevin forgot that he could leave the way he came in. That was a mistake.
Oh, macgruder here we go with the only female on the team must help the men repopulate the earth or at the very least be raring to go because what? She's a newly free feminist with all the power over her cooch so the first thing she does is wanna give it up? Ketchwena? AWKWARD. Yah great.
Rowena had to take the long way thru the badlands to get the new weapon, also temporary, to the boys. It isn't tested, so instead of testing it out on the fucking ghost who would definitely deserve it who caught up to you before your destination, let's allow Ketch to play jealous new suitor and knight in shining armor! Oh and then he gets put in a vulnerable position! Yah great.
Segway back to… Why is it that because Rowena is the only female POA (piece of ass) on the team, she has to flirt with Cass, then Ketch, AND she has a history with Jack the Ripper? And yet, she treats Sam like he's a naughty kid she's babysitting, but ppl want to ship them two like the fucking Titanic!
Oh right back to Winchesters. Actually, the whole team is here now. Yah great.
ANYWAY… How TF and when did JTR get in Ketch between his stand-off with the Winchesters, trying to consume Kevin and the new untested weapon finally being TESTED! Only to find out it ain't as badass as the first one!!!!! Convenient. Yah great.
Don't think I forgot… The fucking force field spell thing is a one-off?! BOO newbie! So now it has a weak spot and everyone conveniently knows where it is.
So, did anyone else see the Ketch thing coming? Why TF did he need to have Rowena's back from so close? Yeah, I saw that flinch JTR! Why oh why did Dean shoot his load into the hundreds of ghosts when he had limited ammo and was apparently the ONLY one allowed to sneak in ammo?! Again, USELESS is in the background, useless. He can see a demon's true face, but can't tell when someone is possessed by a ghost?
So what if Dean wouldn't hesitate to shoot Ketch, couldn't one person, or useless fucking Angel bring the Iron Frosted Flake Gun? Oh but the Angel can heal, right? No?! Seriously WTF!!!! DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES FOR HIM ANYMORE SAM!
LITERALLY ALL OF THIS SHIT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED!!!! I agree with conflict for building, enhancing, and developing the plot, but fucking really?!
EWWW Ketchwena again?! OK, but also, Ketch flirted with Dean more than the useless Angel supposedly did.
And WTF is this?! NOW we are gonna listen to a demon when he says Kevin cannot be returned to heaven? Before, no one could be bothered to trust Belphegor's uncanny wisdom. ARE THEY FUCKING FORGETTING THAT THE SAME SPELL THAT SENT BOBBY UP FROM HELL SHOULD WORK ON KEVIN? AND ISN’T IT MORE WORTH IT TO TRY THAN NOT?!!!!!!
Oh, but then let's let Kevin out a little hole in the electric fence and have it take long enough that no other ghosts happen to sneak thru. Oh, they are that scared of Belphegor? Really? So he should have been the one on patrol AT ALL TIMES!!!!
Chuck and Sissy sitting in a tree, A-R-G-U-I-N-G. Yet again! Geez, dude get a clue!
BECAUSE LOOK NOW! THERE ARE TONS OF GHOSTS STILL COMING FROM 'SOMEWHERE'! SHOULDN'T WE BE TRYING TO GET TO THAT SPOT AND SHUT THAT SPOT DOWN? MAYBE? AS A START?
WHAT THE FUCK DO I KNOW? I'VE ONLY BEEN WATCHING A SHOW THAT SHUTS DOWN HELLMOUTHS AS A HOBBY FOR FIFTEEN FUCKING YEARS!

here is a WIP that i will never finish
------
"Excuse me, but I happen to think Mávri gáta is hilarious. Those puns are spot on."
Aria opened her mouth and paused, before closing it again.
"Zào Fortuna has got spots right?."
"Wait were you trying to aim a pun at her, but then forgot if she had spots?
"Uh, maybe..."
"Dude, you're an idiot in every sense of the word."
Aria hung her head.
"...I know."
"That's nice."
Aria threw a pillow at her before exploding in a fit of giggles.
"Mooncaaaake! You're supposed to give me a hug and say sorry!"
Marinette sighed and blew her nails before turning to look at Aria.
"We both know how that goes down."
Aria sighed and stood up.
"Have you heard from Adrien in the past few days?"
"You know what? I haven't."
"Last time I talked to him, he told me he got a boyfriend."
"He did? Why didn't I know about that?"
"Babe, weren't you on the other line?"
"Uh... I think I fell asleep."
"Wow. You really need to stop staying up all night on commissions."
"Speaking of, any news about that stuff?"
"Well, from what I've heard, my little sister from another mister is traveling to Gotham because her fashion business has taken off. 'The mysterious designer MDC has bypassed Gabriel Agreste in the polls!'
"Well, what you heard is true-'
"I also heard that you get to stay in Wayne Manor and bring a friend. Maybe Sabine?"
"What? And risk her finding out that I parade around the city in spots every night? No thanks."
"Hm. Chloe?"
"The invitation would be wasted. She's already going to Gotham with her mom."
"What about Alya?"
"Since 2 heroes will be out of commission, Rena is going to be needed here."
"I don't know."
Aria collapsed on the bed with a groan before sitting up and smirking.
"Lila."
"Okay. Your guessing privileges have been revoked."
"Noooooo! How else will I find out who you're going to take?!"
"By asking. Like a normal person."
"How dare you assume that I'm normal."
"Now I'm beginning to wonder if I should actually tell you."
"Okay, okay! I'll shut up! Just please tell me who, so I don't have to stay up till 3, guessing."
"I wanted to ask you."
"Uh, I will give you an entire list of reasons why I shouldn't come. Plus, I don't really think they'd let me bring the cat."
"I'm asking right now, and if they say no, then I'll politely decline the invitation."
"I don't want you to miss out-"
"They replied!"
"What? Let me see!"
Aria scrambled off the chaise and scurried over to Marinette, tripping in the process.
"Wait! Let me get up!"
Aria jumped up and stumbled into the desk.
Marinette clicked the email and recited it aloud.
"Dear MDC, your friend's cat will be allowed. If you need to arrange anything to bring your cat on the plane, please do not hesitate to ask.
 Aria squealed and hugged Marinette.
"Ok. If we can start packing now, I'll come with you."
"Why do we have to pack now? The trip isn't until Saturday and it's only Wednesday! Can't we just enjoy the first sleepover we've had in a month?"
"Babe, please? I hate procrastinating."
"What are you talking about? You love procrastinating!"
"I don't love it, It just happens to be my default."
"Same difference!"
"Um, no, not the same difference."
"Nyah."
-------
"Dante. I am begging you. Don't turn off the computer yet."
"Aria. it's almost 1 A.M and we both have class tomorrow."
"I knoooow! But I put my fucking heart into this, and if you turn it off right now, it will delete and I have no way of saving it."
"Aria. Go to bed now."
"Nooooo! I have to finish it!"
"Fine. But as soon as the clock gets to 1. I'm turning everything off. Just because you're my favorite doesn't mean I'll let you get away with anything."
"Boi! I let you get away with so many things! Can I not just stay up for another hour to finish a damn design?!"
"Aria?"
"Hi, Minette."
"Are you gonna stay up again while binge-ing on coffee?"
"Maybe..."
"Marinette. Please tell my idiot sister that she needs sleep too."
"Aria-"
"Noooo! My favorites are teaming up to defeat me!"
"Aria. Go. To. Bed."
"No!"
Aria jumped up, seized the computer, shot into the bathroom.
"Ha! Now you can't stop me from finishing this!"
"Okay. I give up. Marinette, she's yours now."
Dante slowly backed out of the kitchen with his arms raised.
"Aria. Come out. Please. It's not a sleepover if it's only one person. Plus I need someone to binge-watch movies with!"
"...What kind of movies?"
"Um, MIB International, Charlie's Angels, Hanna, Atomic Blonde, La Femme Nikita-"
"I'm in. Just give me a second."
The sound of shuffling around could be heard in the unusually silent house. The bathroom door opened to show a dark room a few seconds later, and Aria emerged holding a closed laptop.
"I thought it wasn't going to save?"
"Yeah uh, I lied. I just wanted to keep working."
"Geez. I bet you'll be the only person in Gotham like this."
"Well, I do try to be unique!"
"Okay, we need to finish packing."
"But what about the movies?!"
"We'll watch them while we pack."
"Yay!"
-------
Five movies and two panic attacks later:
"Mooncake! Do you know where my-"
"Beanie? Downstairs in the tardis."
"Oh my gosh, thank you! I need to take a shower, are you almost finished packing?"
"Yeah, two more outfits and I'll be done."
"Kay. My phone is charging next to the window, the password is 314159, the flashy purple app turns on the TV."
With that, Aria walked out of the room and shut the door. Not even 2 minutes later, the sound of running water could be heard, along with the song 'Consideration' blasting through the house. Marinette shook her head and laughed.
"Geez Ari. Too loud."
Marinette folded the last outfit and placed it in her suitcase. Walking over to the window, she was attacked by Aria’s cat.
“Ack! Get off!”
Marinette started to try and shake the cat off and Kiro released her leg. She jumped onto the bed and yanked her legs up to avoid any further scratches. The door slammed open to reveal a soaking wet Aria in a towel. She still had soap bubbles in her hair and it had stuck to her face while she was running.
“I heard a screech! Is everything okay?”
Marinette stared for a second longer before laughing so hard she fell off the bed.
“OH MY GOSH! Did you just- holy crap! The cat just jumped on me!”
“...are you freaking kidding me? I literally jumped out of the shower to see what in the world was going on. I thought you were being abducted.”
“I’m so sorry! I just-” Marinette collapsed into another fit of giggles.
“Okay, since you’re obviously fine, I’m gonna go finish my shower. Next time, don’t screech unless it’s an emergency. Now my clothes are wet because of my idiocy. Goodbye, Little Missy Macaron.”
Aria walked out of the room, leaving Marinette to try and clean up the water mess. She just threw a towel over the puddle.
Aria walked into the bathroom while shaking her head slowly. She picked up her phone and pressed shuffle on her playlist. Once again, a song started blasting through the house.
————
Marinette grabbed Aria’s phone and unlocked it. She pressed the purple icon that Aria had told her about and clicked the red power button at the top. Nothing happened.
Right. The TV is downstairs.
Marinette sighed and checked under the bed before leaving the safety of the mattress. She picked up her two suitcases and took them downstairs. 5 minutes later, the sound of gunshots and suspenseful music coming from the living room rivaled the pop music coming from the upstairs bathroom.
—————-
Dante, Evita, and Armando came home to three girls shouting and running around, with another standing off to the side and filming. Chloe and Alya had come over to help after Aria had gotten out of the shower. Though it quickly turned into Chloe chasing Aria around and trying to get her to put on some clothes that weren’t covered in paint, and Alya filming Marinette freaking out about losing her deodorant.
“Dante! I stole your Pikachu boxers because they were in my drawers!” Aria ran past him, a disgruntled Chloe in hot pursuit.
“Why do I care?”
“Just thought you should know in case you start looking for them while I’m gone!”
“Speaking of being gone, shouldn’t you guys get going? Your flight leaves in 4 hours.”
“Crap! Evita! Do you have work soon? Can you drive us to the airport?”
“Can’t you guys just bike?”
Aria stopped and stared at Evita incredulously. Chloe didn't slow down quick enough and slammed both girls into the ground.
“Okay, we have like, 4 bags each, and the airport is like 45 miles away. ”
“Okay. I’ll take you, but I do have to work soon so we have to go now.”
“Okay. Akiv! Stop! Do you have your bags?”
“Yes, Ari.”
“Mooncake! Are you ready?”
“I NEED DEODORANT.”
“We can get some at the airport.”
“GAH! Okay, fine. Let’s go.”
The three girls ran to give Alya a hug before they left.
“Bye Als! Love you!”
“Adios, Vixen! Te Quiero!”
“Salut Alya!”
——————-
ONE EXCRUCIATINGLY LONG CAR RIDE LATER:,
Marinette, Aria, and Chloe stepped out of the Envoy and took their bags out of the trunk.
“Zai Jian, Evita! Wǒ ài nǐ!”
“Adios Mija! Te Quiero mucho!”
Aria gave Evita a hug before slinging her book bag and purse over her shoulder and pulling her suitcase over to the entrance. The girls watched the car drive off before turning and walking into the airport.
“Ay Dios Mio…”
“What?”
“Look at the lines!” Aria gestured over to about fifty people standing in front of a counter.
“Oh, mon Dieu.”
“Um, no. Look at your tickets. We have first-class. Which is the line over there.” Chloe pointed over to a short line with only a few people.
“Oh, thank goodness.” Marinette sighed as she scanned over her plane ticket.
“Wait, really?” Aria scrambled for the small slip of paper in her wallet, accidentally dropping it.
A young male, probably around 15, picked it up. He smiled and held it out to her.
“Here you go, m’lady”
“Thanks, bro,” Aria grunted.
The boy froze for only a second, but it was long enough for her to pluck the leather contraption out of his hand and walk away with the other girls. When they were out of earshot, they all burst out laughing.
“Oh my gosh! Did you see his face when you called him ‘bro’?!”
“That was hilarious,” Aria wiped tears from her eyes.
“Welp, now we know how she keeps guys away.”
“Who knew it was so simple?”
“No. It’s simple for me. I am the Goddess of repellent. You two are mere mortals.”
“She’s right! Oh, Great One! We are unworthy of your presence, but we beg to learn your ways!” Marinette got down on one knee, with one hand over her heart and the other being held out to Aria.
“Oh, get up Mooncake. They’re looking at us crazy again.” Chloe pulled the smaller girl onto her feet and ruffled her hair.
Marinette giggled, then bowed and took Aria’s hand.
“I am forever indebted to you for teaching me.” She kissed the brunette’s hand before standing up straight again.
“Mooncake, I love you, but that was the weirdest thing you’ve ever done.”
“Thanks, Abelle.”
“No problem babe.”
Aria rolled her eyes.
“Next!”
The girls looked up to see it was their turn in line.
“Please place your bags in the designated area.” The lady behind the desk gestured to a wire container.
Marinette looked to the side and placed her suitcase into the basket. The other girls quickly followed suit.
“Names?”
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng.”
“Aria Couture.”
“Chloe Bourgeois.”
The lady typed their names into the computer before waving them away. Marinette saw the dull look in her eyes and pulled out 3 macarons before whispering something and smiling.
“Excuse me, Madame? Here are a few macarons. I hope you have a nice day!”
Marinette picked up her bags and walked away with her friends. She didn’t miss the small smile that appeared on the woman’s face.
“So, what’d you do to the cookies?”
“Let’s just say the rest of her week will be much better.”
“Minette, I have absolutely no idea what you're implying, and at this point, I'm too scared to ask.”
————
“This is why I hate flying. I’m already exhausted and we haven’t even been at the airport for 2 hours.” Marinette groaned.
“We’re done with all the security stuff, and our suitcases are already boarding the plane, which basically means we can currently do whatever we want. And don’t you still need deodorant?”
“Ugh. You’re right. Let’s go.”
Aria grinned and walked towards a sandwich restaurant.
“Aria, where are you going? The toiletries place is over there.” Marinette pointed to a little kiosk next to the bathrooms.
“Come on. You didn’t really think we would get deodorant before we got food, did you?”
“...I am kind of hungry…”
“Let’s go then!”
Aria grabbed Marinette’s right hand and Chloe’s left hand and yanked them over to the restaurant.
——————
“Flight Number 763, First class, Now boarding.”
Aria jolted awake at the sound of the announcement. She looked over at Chloe and Marinette sleeping peacefully and contemplated waking them up. She'd rather not lose an eye, or two.
Chloe woke up as the brunette picked up a small pink bookbag.
“Good morning Chlo,” Aria yawned.
“...hi Ari.”
Grabbing all of their backpacks, she took the tickets and passports out and walked over to the admittance booth.
“Tickets please."
“Here,” Aria handed him all three tickets and passports.
Aria looked up at the man in the booth.
“Can we go in or do you need sleeping beauty over here to confirm something,” Aria pointed at Marinette.
“Um. You can go in…”
“Thanks, have a nice day!”
The girls walked to the plane and found their seats quickly. Chloe helped Aria set Marinette down and put the carry-on bags in the capsules above them. Both girls fell back asleep about 10 minutes after they buckled up.

Prompt: “Marry me?”
Tsuna to Kyouya: “Marry me?”
.
.
If Kyouya were a lesser man, the expression on his face would be described as flabbergasted. But Kyouya was not a lesser man. He glared instead.
"Herbivore, start making sense," he snapped.
Tsunayoshi, the bane of his existence ever since the Herbivore noticed his weakness for cute and fluffy things, blinked his large doe eyes and snuffled.
“Marry me,” Tsunayoshi repeated. “Please?”
Not even a blink. He was secretly impressed by the Herbivores nerves.
“Nevermind that we are not of age yet,” he said dismissively. “Why?”
Tsuna's eyes gleamed with unshed tears. It stuck on his eyelashes like diamonds. Kyouya's breath caught in his throat.
“Please?” he asked with a wobbly voice.
Damn.
.
.
Tsuna absolutely did not want to be a man.
Ever since his father’s last visit, it’s the only thing he can think about.
If being a man meant being an unreliable person like his dad, he most certainly did not want to be a man. Women were nicer. They wore nice dresses, cooked amazing food and people wanted to protect them.
When he explained this to Hana and Kyoko, they both giggled but didn’t disagree, which meant he was right. Technically, he was only half right. Hana told him that women weren’t that protected. If you wanted to have a constant protector, you’d have a husband.
A husband, Kyoko explained, had to be strong. It wasn’t really Tsuna’s Mama’s fault that she chose an unreliable husband. So Tsuna had to choose someone better than his father.
This sort of logic leads him to try finding one, but all men he would meet as he grew up weren’t strong.
Then, he met Kyouya in Middle School.
(“Tsuna, NO”, Hana hissed under her breath
“Tsuna, YES,” Kyoko laughed.)
.
.
Kyouya had relatives. He had a lot of relatives. If the world really knew how many Hibari's there were in the world, they would be a lot more nervous. A lot of those Hibari's dabbled in both sides of the law.
That’s why it’s very easy to get married illegally. A single phone call to one uncle, another to a distant cousin and the paperwork is faxed to them within the day.
Meanwhile, Kyouya’s Mother found out and there is a wedding.
There’s even no mention at all of the courting period. Nobody mentions that at all. Just going, “Aww, what a lovely couple.”
This was why Kyouya has lost faith in humanity. UGH.
Still, it’s not a hardship to marry the Little Animal.
Marriage meant someone cooking for him, and cleaning the house and taking care of the garden so he didn’t have to ask Kusakabe to do it.
(“Kyouya, do you really think that’s all I do?” his mother asked with a smile full of teeth.
His father, tellingly, does not answer.)
.
.
Weirdly enough, there were no overt signs to point out that both of them were married.
Kyouya found that wearing rings impeded with his ability to punch people if he lost his tonfas. Tsuna was too clumsy and was smart enough to realize that if he did wear his ring for longer than an hour, he would likely lose it somewhere.
Still, there were perks to being married.
Nobody could bully Tsuna anymore. There were always eyes watching him now. Always. Anyone else would have filed for a divorce already and moved to another country (which wouldn’t have done them any good, there were Hibari’s everywhere), but Tsuna just nodded and smiled.
And Kyouya had someone soft to cuddle to. He could grab Tsuna anytime during lunch breaks and have somebody warm to sleep with who didn’t make any noise. Tsuna was a very soothing presence.
Though neither of them really noticed it, Kyouya had an overwhelming amount of Cloud Flames. He used it to unconsciously propagate his strength, but the Cloud Flames felt the smothered Sky Flames and worked away at it with every opportunity.
With every cuddle, Tsuna woke up better and more refreshed.
That’s why, when Reborn finally arrived in Namimori, Tsuna’s eyes gleamed Amber.
.
.
“The seal is gone,” came the report.
“…what?”
“It’s gone,” was repeated. “It’s like it was never there in the first place.”
“How can that be? And how has he not been found if that’s the case? He was leaking all over the place when I arrived!”
“…I’ll investigate.”
.
.
Kyouya took one look at the baby on the doorstep, narrowed his eyes and said, “No.”
He closed the door. He did not worry, the guards always took care of unwanted guests.
Because you see, long time ago, the Hibari’s had an uncle.
That’s it. The Hibari’s still do have an uncle. Except, he doesn’t come anymore to family reunions and the glimpses they do catch of him mark him as diminished. Cursed.
The Hibari’s had an uncle who turned his back on them. On Family.
Any of their cursed ilk was not welcome.
.
.
Reborn approached Tsuna in the street, because anywhere else was too well-guarded.
Then he told him, “You’re going to be a mafia boss,”
Tsuna, having grown up with only Kyoko and Hana as friends, smiled. “A mafia wife!” he said with a smile. “How lovely. My husband will be very pleased.”
Actually no, Kyouya will not.
Reborn doesn’t splutter, because he’s too dignified for that, but, “I said a boss. Are you deaf as well as stupid, Dame-Tsuna?”
There’s a gleam of Amber, a satisfied smirk, before Tsuna started crying. Within seconds, Hibari guards descend on Reborn.
.
.
Reborn has to call back-up.
He called Fon.
That was a mistake.
.
.
“You didn’t tell me you had family,” Reborn said accusingly.
Fon shrugged, patting the smoldering remains of his shirt. “They’re…complicated. You simply don’t leave the Hibari. They’re everywhere. You can’t avoid them. But they love strength. My form is much changed. They would have hunted down the Man in the Iron Hat and burned down the world. My family is a bit excessive when they don’t care of the collateral damage.”
Reborn blinked. And he thought he had a complicated family.
“Have they forgiven you, do you think? I really don’t like to break contract and Tsunayoshi is living with them,” Reborn muttered.
Fon stumbled. “What?” he asked. People don’t just live with the Hibari.
“Tsunayoshi?” Reborn clarified. “Sawada’s son. I’m supposed to teach him to become a mafia boss.”
Fon sat down in a hurry. “Reborn,” he said urgently. “Tsunayoshi? Yay high, fluffy hair, big smile? Reborn, he’s married to my many-times grand nephew. On record, he’s officially Hibari Tsuna.”
The implications finally hit Reborn.
“..He said he would be a mafia wife,” he muttered. “He’d…put his husband in power?”
Fon wanted to crawl away and die, but that would be beneath his dignity. He just smiled vacantly, imagining his cute little Kyouya with all the feral strength that marked Hibari’s and backed by the monstrous reach of the Vongola and the Hibari Clan. His eyes glazed over.
“I’m going to take a vacation,” Fon said faintly. “I’m fairly certain I’ll be fine in the Sahara.”
.
.
“My Tsuna-fishie is married??” Iemitsu wailed.
Nonno blinked. “Oh. Is the girl a suitable wife.”
Reborn twitched. He had gone to Italy himself to deliver the news, mostly because there were some news people should hear in person. Honestly though, he just wanted to watch the chaos happen.
“You misunderstand me,” Reborn said. “Tsunayoshi married into the Hibari Clan. He did not marry a girl. In fact, from my surveillance, I’m pretty sure he’s the girl in this equation.”
Iemitsu’s wailing reached a crescendo. Reborn’s eyelid throbbed. A beat, then he finally draws his gun.
Nonno’s mouth hung open in shock. Ganauche behind him choked on hysterical laughter, offset by a background of gunshots.
.
.
In the Hibari house, Tsuna snuggled into his affectionate husband.
“Is it really alright not to welcome your Uncle home?” he asked. “It’s the first time he’s been seen in years, right?”
Kyouya pouted. He did not want to talk about other men in his bed.
“He’s not yet apologized,” Kyouya sulked. “Or groveled enough. Mother worried.”
Tsuna conceded the point. “It was nice of Reborn to drag your uncle here though. And to give you guys exercise!”
Between the two Arcobaleno and the Hibari, it had indeed been an exercise. An exercise in restraint. If they hadn’t, more than an acre of forest would have been destroyed.
Kyouya huffed and cuddled his Tsuna into submission.
It was a cute domestic scene. Both of them were utterly oblivious to the chaos happening outside their house.
.
.
I...I’ve run out of ideas. It was supposed to be a simple prompt fill!
