So I've been trying out the new Star Wars Hunters game that came out on Mobile & Switch recently!

I haven't played many brawling type games like this so I wasn't expecting much, but I've actually been really enjoying it so far! I've probably put too many hours into playing (especially since I was super sick around launch and didn't have much else I could do), and I hit max level 50 and Kyber in ranked a while ago... (yeah, playing too much, I know...)

Thought I'd share my initial thoughts though, since I've put in the time!

Note: Some folks have apparently been playing the beta version for a while, but I've only started playing since the public release.

Stuff I like about it so far:

-The really creative and fun SW universe characters is the best part. A blind Miraluka sniper? (Diago) An Ugnaught driving a Droideka? (Slingshot) Literally two Jawas in a trench coat??? (Utooni) They're fun and have great personality, you can read their blurbs here. I like how they're all voiced and also all have their own theme songs (which are honestly heckin catchy)!

-Controls are very intuitive. Again, I am not much of a gamer and have very little experience with these kinds of games, but I picked it up quick. I play on my iPhone and it's great.

-The graphics are GORGEOUS. It looks beautiful, everything moves stunningly smoothly. Honestly it's hard to believe this is a ftp game.

-So far it's very much ftp friendly! Most of the money locked stuff are just cosmetics, and even then there are tons of free ones. One of the characters, Aran Tal, is currently behind a not-too-expensive paywall, but he'll apparently be available for free soon as well.

-The skins for the characters are fun and creative! Imara Vex has one that looks like Durge, and Zaina has one that kinda gives me adult Omega vibes. The store has an active rotation of skins that you can buy with either irl money or in game currency, and apparently old event skins eventually end up in the circulation too. Here are just a couple of my favorites:

-I love the locations! Each one is very Star Wars vibes and has lots of cool lil in-universe elements, like pod racers going through Mos Espa (they can run you over). The time period is New Republic era, so everything is relatively plausible for that time period in universe.

-There's a bunch of different game types, so you don't get bored, and they each have different challenges, and different characters who shine in them. It's unfortunately a bit addicting.

-The events aren't too grindy or tedious (so far).

-I really appreciate the different modes you can play on! The main two modes are casual and ranked, so it's possible to play low stakes and just level up your characters in casual, or try to challenge yourself more in ranked. I appreciate how the limited time events that sometimes throw you into random characters you might not be experienced with are never ranked, so it's okay to suck. Character leveling is the same in both casual and ranked. And I appreciate the Training mode too, where you can try out all of the characters so you're never in a "wtf does this do" in a PVP environment. I get so anxious during PVP if I don't know what I'm doing.

Stuff I hope they improve on:

-Playing with people + party invites are kind of a pain. The invites disappear really quickly, so it's really hard to time it so you can actually play with your friends. It's also hard to know whether the party is going to be playing ranked or casual, and if ranked you can't see the ranks of the folks in your party before agreeing to join, which is a little nerve wracking.

-This is less a complaint, and more just general frustration, but ranking up is pretty tedious near the top, which is to be expected I suppose. Through Aurodium, it was generous because you earn so many more points when you win than when you lose, but in Kyber, you win/lose the same amount. You are judged by your team score, so losses bring down everyone's rank, and it feels like you have to take three steps back for every one. Kyber players are comparatively more competent, but I've been in some...unfortunate matchups before. (As of writing this, I'm in Kyber III, but I've been bouncing between Beskar II~Kyber II for the past two weeks...will I ever make it to Kyber I cries)

-I think they started with a decent batch of characters, and I know this game just came out of beta and the team said they'll be expanding on them! So this isn't really a complaint either. But in the future, I hope they add more female characters (currently only 4 female characters out of 13 total, which feels a little skewed), as well as more support characters, who always feel lacking.

I'd love a few more "popular" iconic Star Wars species to have characters in support. Maybe a Togruta apothecary? A Nautolan water medic? A Pantoran doctor? And personally, I'd love a super buff Twi'lek lady as a tank! Either way, lots of possibilities to look forward to, especially given how much I love the characters so far!

So far, I've been playing on my iPhone and it works pretty smoothly, though I've heard of some Switch users having trouble with lagging/connecting. I think I've only been booted out once, and even when I'm forced to pop out of the app for a moment (last night, I got an Amber alert that paused my screen), I was able to continue playing with barely any pause, which is honesty impressive. I've heard controls are easier on Switch, but I think I've been doing okay on mobile.

so he does really take notice so quickly; as soon as he sees you for the first time in your deteriorated state, he pulls you aside gently while motioning to your other team leader to take over in the meantime. he brings you back to the hallway by the restrooms and drinking fountains, where there's more privacy.

"everything okay, sweetheart?" though he already suspects you're burning up. "here, can i feel for a fever?" his hand is so gentle on your tender head, and you're so woozy you honestly just want to lean into the soft, comforting touch. he sees you being lulled a bit by the contact and his face softens. he goes and checks in with the rest of the team for a moment, making sure your position will be covered until you can return. then you start off on the walk over to the cabin. it's somewhat tucked away, on the edge of the group of buildings. "you need me to carry you, honey?" he offers several times, but you're too shy and embarrassed to accept, despite feeling like you could tip over at any moment.

the cabin's interior looks a lot like a school's nurse's office. a few cots lined up with drawable curtains on tracks placed in the ceiling. some medical gear over on a counter with a sink, along with packets of crackers and bottles of water. ari's station is a little desk over by the door. the place looks surprisingly pristine compared to the state of the rest of the facility. "don't get many visitors?" you ask as he guides you over to a bed, laying you down gently after placing a paper napkin under your head.

"nope, honestly only a few scrapes or bruises here or there. but i don't mind," he tells you as he washes his hands before grabbing a thermometer and returning to you. "open up, angel. that's it," he hums as he guides the covered wand into your mouth. a few seconds later it beeps. "a hundred and two," he tells you with a frown. "poor thing."

he grabs you a water and some meds out of a little safe in the cabinet under the counter before returning to you, "here you go, sweet girl. careful taking those down," he reminds you.

you take them and try to lay back and rest as he tells you, but pretty quickly, you concerningly start to feel worse. a lot worse. you're hot all over now, writhing not from pain, but from something else- some sort of ache, deep in your tummy, you can't quite identify. from his seat at his desk across the room, ari notices your discomfort. subnautica 2!! now lets see how much i can guess right!!

okay so. subnautica 2 news yippee!! ill get right to the point: -ill be talking about what we know, and speculating based off of what we vaguely know. and also giving some opinions on stuff maybe -here be spoilers for both subnautica and below zero. the games story+lore are cool!! trust!! -also the reason its subnautica 2 is because below zero wasn't a full on sequel, it was moreso a really big dlc. like how uh pokemon black 2 and white 2 arent a new generation. anyways.

ill be using info from the steam page, if you're wondering wtf i mean by some things

okay so ... we know early access comes out in 2025, it has multiplayer, itll be a hefty big game with big hardware requirements, and they plan to give it content updates in early access, probably akin to like, slime rancher 2 is doing rn. they say 2-3 years of early access is their roadmap "Throughout Early Access, we plan to release a number of updates that add new content to the game — Such as more biomes, creatures, craftables, features, and narratives." ANYHOO to the juicy stuff. the game takes place on a NEW PLANET and the premise is that... your AI assistant suspiciously tells you "hey go to that planet" even though its uh, allegedly dangerous for humans but we'll get back to that THE BIG GAMEPLAY THING: does anyone remember the old Transfuser concept that was never implemented beyond some models and such in the first game? I think they even tried to bring it back in below zero, but ... they never could quite figure out how to make it work. okay but what WAS the transfuser? The idea behind the transfuser was to obtain DNA from creatures and use them to modify yourself for enhancements, such as mesmer DNA scaring off prey, or jellyray DNA making you glow! They were only basic concepts, the features were never implemented.

But, well... I should call it the Biosampler now! It's real now! and.... It seems its the main gimmick of your adventure in this game! The store page states "The ship's AI insists you carry on the mission. This world is too dangerous for humans to survive… Unless you change what it means to be human." as well as "Use your Biosampler to take samples for study. As you learn more about this world, evolve your genetics to adapt your body for survival." So, yeah! Seems they really were determined to get that concept into something real. and i LOVE it. freakin cool stuff but... thats the main gameplay. im here to be like matpat and say i think ive SOLVED the STORY ALREADY??? REAL?? so, not only is there that big creepy thing dragging the protagonist down in the teaser trailer, but the image of... assumedly the same creature, and is named subnautica_2_keyart_banner

...gives me some vibes that this thing is an important sort of... Big Bad of the game. and yknow what my bold prediction is? "You are a pioneer traveling to a distant world, but something is amiss. The ship's AI insists you carry on the mission. This world is too dangerous for humans to survive…" Hm, an AI giving suspicious instructions. Something is amiss. Listen, I'm not saying its this big squid guy, but I'm saying its this big squid guy. Dead serious, I mean cmon we had a telepathic creature talking to us trying to get us to reach it in the FIRST GAME, and we also had an ALIEN in our HEAD in the SECOND GAME. so i think a reasonable evolution / different take on Al-An, the weird but friendly alien stuck in your head because he didnt think of using your PDA, is... a not so friendly alien creature that definitely does think of using your PDA. I think it'd make a lotta sense, and... while I'm against the idea of having a straight up evil creature in subnautica, since yknow, the game wasnt designed for horror and evil to be its big thing... rather just, natural, primal terror from... creatures just doin' what they do in nature. (Shoutouts to this rockpapershotgun article from after the first games full release) but like... for one, you'd think it'd just want us to die. and could probably do that pretty easily, unless... its trapped. or needs help, or wants something from us more than just Dinner. Yes im saying that the plot is basically fnaf security breach dlc. THE MIMICCC is real, and its a squid now. I could see it being pretty fun if it only had SOMEWHAT of a hold on your AI or PDA... and so you'd sometimes get conflicting information. genuine tips, and then ... "you should go to that freaky deep cave over there haha" but also, it may have reason and capability to intentionally try to get on our good side instead of seeming trustworthy. They do say "What creatures, intelligent or otherwise, await your arrival?" on the steam page. also im just A BIG FAN OF THE TROPE OF LIKE. AN ENTIRE PLANET CRASHING SHIPS DOWN ONTO IT LIKE THAT. SOME SIRENS SONG TYPE VIBES i love the first subnautica and both risk of rain games for being... very similar in uh, being stranded on a planet where, oh hey, it turns out that theres been ships crashed here because, basically no ones allowed here! and theres just, a big history of. mysterious planet with stuff happening around it but just like. okay its just the bermuda triangle but for space lets be real. but now, instead of the planet wanting you OFF of it like in the first game, it wants you ON... MORE speculation: "...diverse ecosystems and unique creatures. But something isn’t right. The world is out of balance. What happened here? What happened to you? And more importantly, where are you?" this is mayhaps the most intriguing line on the page. theres tons of references to Mysterious Lifeforms and even mysterious ancient ruins (yess!!!! love those) but this, feels significant. I think the main story themes will be ... how creatures adapt to their environment (and you yourself adapting to overcome the situation, via awesome dna shenanigans) (the indomitable human spirit as well) and... of the balance of said environments / ecosystems. Why is it out of balance? Well, if they're doing something similarish to the first game, maybe... we could have something akin to the whole kharaa and warpers situation. Remember, warpers were just designed to attack and eliminate anything that was infected. Basically every creature there hates them because of that. Poor things, just doing their job... but... what if... this psychic-squid is trying to use its powers to control more creatures on the planet? Not all of them, of course. Many would just like to kill us because they're hungry. But some... may be brainwashed into disrupting the ecosystem... but also, then that'd kinda confuse me on the motivations of this big guy. Maybe it doesnt have any motives! Maybe it wants help, though ... I think that'd be too much of a repeat of the first game. But maybe they wanna go for that!

pronoun amon here, i didnt phrase my first all well. i moreso wanted to just ask your general thoughts on dean, gender and identity.

i love your analysis posts so i was just wondering if you have any thoughts around dean and his relationship to masculinity and manhood.

(For context). Well, I bring a sort of "Wtf does femininity or masculinity or manhood even mean" vibe to the conversation that a lot of conservative christians where I live don't really like. So while I don't at all think that's where you’re coming from, to me gender identity and expression is something that is personal to each individual and so answering about how someone else who's rarely spoken about it perceives their own gender identity just turns my brain to confused static. Some fans with different experiences or expressions of their own gender will feel differently about what can be inferred, or may treat Dean's relationship to gender as an opportunity to explore themselves, and all of that is fine—Dean is fictional. For me, it's as simple as saying that Dean describes himself using he/him pronouns so that is also how I describe him. Whether he does or doesn't engage with some traditionally/socially "masculine" or "feminine" traits or activities is neither here nor there to me.

My only bit of related commentary is that I don't actually think Dean thinks about things in terms of "being a man" as much as some portions of fandom want to think so. The "gendered insults" schtick in portions of Supernatural is something that is often misattributed to be the sole work of Dean, but it's happening all of the time and actually happens to Dean more than it comes from him. It also happens completely in his absence. For example, in 4.22, Ruby tells Sam to "man up" when he starts to question the morality of kidnapping the nurse and drinking from her.

I know that you're having a tough time here, Sam, but we're in the final lap here. Now is not the time to grow a persqueeter.

Examples recently in mind for me are Alastair calling Dean "Daddy's little girl" (4.16) and Bobby addressing his discomfort with Dean sitting down with him and telling him how much he cares about him (even though Bobby appreciates it) by saying "Thanks. Now, we done feeling our feelings? 'Cause I'd like to get out of this room before we both start growing lady parts" (5.07). This isn't something I've been tracking, but @soft-pine (I hope it's okay to link again!) a while back linked at the end of this thread some google sheets counts they're doing of various subjects. If you go to the bottom and look at the tabs and scroll, you'll find one tab called "gender police ?" Showing how often gendered insults are used with the brothers and who's using them and on the receiving end of them most often.

there's a scene in bon voyage s3 e6, when the members were eating and jhope mentioned that tae and jk were sleeping upside down and hugging each other's legs, i found jimin's reaction to the info kinda sus. the scene was overall weird, jimin was sitting down when hobi finished talking, with no apparent indication of standing up, and suddenly they show jimin's reaction and he's like "wae (what)!?!?" but he's standing up, and then another cut to hobi confirming the story, then the camera goes back to jimin who is seated again and says "that's weird". do you think they edited some of the conversation out?

JM going from sitting to standing up without us seeing it happen didn't stick out to me too much only because in content like this (Not just BTS content), editors tend to show multiple viewpoints of a moment and I'm guessing JM stood up when we saw the close up of Hobi explaining what he saw. You can also see Hobi's eyes are looking upwards as he's talking.

What gets me tho is JM's initial reaction to Hobi, going eh?! And then needing to clarify what he just heard lol.

Then we cut to JM saying "왜 그래" with that face and that tone.

Side note: I'm not Korean and I'm not fluent in Korean. I have been learning for a while. I'm somewhere between beginner & intermediate and understand that context, tone, and the words used, explain so much when it comes to the Korean language. That's why I wanted to highlight this next part.

Let's talk about the sub-titles here for a moment.

The translator decided to go with "What's wrong?"

This is correct, but it's not the only meaning of those words. "왜 그래" can also mean the following depending on the tone, context, and intonation (rise & fall of voice): "Why is it like that?" "Why are you like that?" "Why are you acting like that?" "What's going on?"

This is a great post about how "왜 그래" can be used.

IMO, JM's tone sounded like it had a bit of a bite behind it. There was no rise in his voice at the end of the words to sound like a curious question. And his face was a little more on the serious side. Again IMO, something like "Why were you like that?" seems more accurate.

He gave off a WTF? vibe.

Back to the question about edited-out parts

I think it's hard to say if anything was edited out right before JM said 왜 그래 but I definitely think the reaction to what JM said was edited out.

There could have been more conversation, but I honestly think there was probably awkward silence after him saying that. 🤣

Because JK & V were both awfully quiet while Hobi was explaining, other than initially asking "Did we?" "Who did it?" There was no laughing, no smiling.

The one where everything felt surreal

Hi, you're probably reading this because you've read the first one about my labor. Here you'll learn how my birth experience went as raw as I can describe it because I won't sugar-coat anything. I've been lied to about this! Imma make sure that the lies ends here. lol!

Around 9pm, we safely arrived at the hospital. I want to stress out on the "safely" part of this arrival because RJ is just laser-focused on the "faster" part and the rest of the ride was just a bunch of honking. I don't know how many times I've squeezed his arms every time a contraction hits, maybe that's the reason why.

We were settled at the E.R., I was comforted by the sight of my doctor. She said that she just delivered a baby that's why she's there. She sent me to one of her resident doctors to be IEd so she could assess what CM the opening of my cervix is at. Now, I am at 4cm.

I'm like, wtf! Really?! After all that wrenching pain, we're still at 4cm?!

She said she'll be back for me in the morning or even before that, anyway she already told her resident doctors to monitor me and my baby.

At the E.R., they attached a contraction and fetal heart monitor on my belly and kid you not, that's when my contraction really up its intensity to x5 and the intervals are just now down to 1-2mins apart! I was just so lucky that RJ was still allowed to stay with me at the E.R. Without him there, I wouldn't know where to get some courage to stay awake through the pain. We were settled at the ER first since my RT-PCR result is still not in, once I get the negative RT-PCR result back, that's when they'll put me on the L&D floor along with the other laboring moms. I let RJ get some power nap because I know it would still take time. This time, I can no longer bear the pain but gladly, my mother and sisters are there with me virtually, monitoring and cheering my soul up. Thank God for the gift of family! It truly helped me divert my attention from the pain. I can still even joke around while messaging them.

I just really wished it's the same environment they allow in the L&D floor.

Around 11pm, RJ told me that my negative RT-PCR results are in. This is where he'd leave me. He'll stay in our room while I will be taken on the L&D floor waiting for my cervix to open, wider enough to deliver a baby. I was not allowed to bring anything even my mobile phone. It was just me and my IV line, in a hospital gown with my huge belly. The orderly who assisted me going up even said, "Oo ma'am, ikaw lang didto. Bawal cellphone. Sunod kita ninyo ni Sir naa na si baby." RJ and I looked at each other and said our goodbyes, see you later.

Little did I know this is where my agony starts.

Before entering the L&D room, they had me remove my footwear and wear the sanitized ones they have. I can already tell how weak the lights are from the entrance. For some reason, that added to my tension. It gives off very despairing vibe which is the very last thing a laboring mother needs. The nurse who met me upon arrival asks me to climb up to the table because a doctor will attend to me in a while for IE. Shet, kaingon gyud ko'g IE na sad?! I hate it when it's the male resident doctor who'd do it on me because he's not therapeutic - at all! Well, guess what, it's him the nurse pulled. It was only postpartum when I realized, I can decline him! We're in a private hospital, I can despise him and ask for another doctor to do it for me. Sorry self, my laboring brain wasn't braining anymore.

Almost midnight, I'm still at 4cm.

As I counted, I am the seventh mom brought in the L&D. At this point, I succumb to the pain. The L&D room of the hospital is not at all mending! The room's lights are dim, it's freezing cold, and the other portion of the room, which beds aren't occupied, had the lights turned off. Imagine how dark it is. I cannot even clearly see the faces of the other moms I am in labor with! If I can rate the pain I am feeling at this moment, it's already 50/10. I felt so off and terrified the moment I was settled on one of the beds there. I can feel every movement of my baby and the contraction is coming in stronger every time. I'm sobbing in agony. I felt so alone. You know, when you're in pain, feeling you're the only one in that room with no one to turn to is adding to the weakness and vulnerability I'm feeling. I've verbalized for so many times that I can no longer bear the pain and it's mostly my back that hurts, not the lower part of my belly - which they always say, "sakit sa may pus-on, Ma'am? Ana gyud na, Ma'am." Like, no, it's my lower back that's in pain, pinching needles kind of pain. But nada! The male doctor from his station even said, "Kinsa manang sige'g hilak diha?" Referring to me, duh! At this point, I'm ready to go out of the L&D room and look for RJ. After that male doctor sarcastically asked, one of the nurses went up to me and ask, again, if my pus-on hurts. Again, I said, I can't feel any pressure on my lower belly every time a contraction hits. I'd feel it in my entire belly. With our without contraction, my lower back hurts and that's the pain I cannot tolerate at this point. She arranged the FH and contraction monitor in a way that it won't squeeze my lower back and returned to the male resident doctor. After a few minutes, that same nurse went up to me and asked me if I'd rather get painless medicine. At the back of my mind, I recalled what my mom and sister said not to get it because it would somehow lose my urge to push. I was confused at this point. I'd want to push naturally but if this pain would continue for the next 3 hours, given that I am still at 4cm, I won't make it. I really won't. So, I asked the nurse, sorry this question I'm about to ask is kinda dumb knowing I'm aware of how this goes because of my medical background but whatever lol, I asked it anyway. I said to the nurse, "If magpa-painless ako, mag take effect yan agad? Or later pa? Kay di nagyud nako makaya ang sakit." She only answered me this, exactly this, "Ay sige lang Ma'am, i-explain mana ni Doc." she then turned her back on me and left. Like, huh?! That didn't answer my question?! Hellooo? Whatever, so, I am still in x100 pain. While waiting for the doctor to "explain" things to me. I have called all the saints there is possible, prayed to God to stop this misery, and I have confessed all my sins over and over again! I have already asked forgiveness to my child I am about to deliver if she lives after this delivery and I won't, she should know that I love her. Yes, I had this entire monologue in the L&D room because of the pain. I don't really know anymore what to do. Again, I am very terrible at handling physical pain. I have zero pain tolerance.

After sometime, one nurse and one orderly went up to me, arranged my monitors and IV in bed, and rolled me going outside the L&D room! Like, hello? Are you even gonna tell me where we're heading?! But I didn't bother to ask, I don't care anymore where they're taking me. I have zero energy at this point. Next thing I know, they're asking me to climb up the delivery table. So we're in the DR now. There I saw my anesthesiologist, as how she introduced herself to me and that she will be the one administering my epidural. Oh, so I'm getting the painless now? Where's the explaining part?! She's a female doctor, by the way. So I asked her the question I asked the nurse a while ago. She answered me in a very comforting way an in-pain and laboring mother can register into her mind. She asked me quite a few times if I am sure. And sorry Mama, but I am getting the epidural.

I am getting an epidural for the first time in my life! I knew how it's administered but this is the first time that it will be done on me. My anesth doctor is still preparing the things she'll need for the procedure, while prepping, she keeps pep talking me. She asked if it's my first pregnancy, how was the labor so far, the contractions, and keeps reassuring me that I can do it and that she's seeing a brave woman in me by simply enduring the pain for hours. Literally, an angel in the sick room. At last! Someone who's nice to me through this labor pains! At this point, my contractions are so awful that every time it stops, I take the interval rest so seriously that I fall asleep that quickly, and then wake up again once the next contraction hits! That's how painful my contractions are. My anesth never left my side so she noticed that I fall asleep in between contractions. She's the one who told me that I should always be awake and alert. She gently holds my head and say, "Tel, ayaw katulog, tel. Close lang ug eyes kung kapuy pero ayaw ug katulog ha? Dili dapat ka matulog." And I always answer her, "Doc, sakit kaayo. Lami i-tulog if mawala ang sakit." She bats an eye to the nurses around us and two of them started talking to me keeping me awake. Few minutes from there, I saw a female resident doctor, she came up to me and ask for a permission to do IE before they administer the epidural. Still, 4cm. This is already around 1-2am.

Before they put me on epidural, the nurses attempted to ease my pain, they turned me sideways with a pillow in between my legs. This is not only to lessen my contraction pains, it will also encourage my cervix to dilate faster. They said, they'll continue this 'til 3am and see if my cervix dilates. My pain is not lessen, even a bit! The nurses started to notice that I am already crying. At least I am awake, duh. Every time they hear me sob in pain, either one of them would come up to me and repeatedly tell me this, "Ma'am, ayaw ug hilak, Ma'am kay di mana mkatabang. Mawad-an ra ka'g kusog unya mag push sige ka'g hilak. Oh, uban mama gani hilom lang." Like, wtf!? Hawa mo diri sa akong atubangan! And by the looks of them, they're way younger than I am and their body, from my perspective, it looked like it never had another human being inside it, so uh uh, don't talk to me as if you know my pain. I started bawling my eye out and this time I am intentionally making it louder to release the pain. Idc anymore! My anesth started talking to me again, "Ano man, Tel? Mag epidural na ta?" and I immediately, no hesitation, said yes. Quickly, she had a male orderly help me curl up.

Idk if someone already put this out there, but man! Getting epidural in between contractions is freakin' hell! Imagine, you're in a cold delivery room with only your delivery gown covering you from freezing, on a delivery table with every eyes on you, a male orderly asks you to curl up like a shrimp and he will hold that position for you until your anesthesiologist puts the epidural line in place!? Like, did anyone discuss how was that?! Because for me, it's out of this world insane! The male orderly even have to shout at me to make me stay still. My doctor's hands, even with gloves, is so cold! Every time she holds my lower back, I can feel tingles and it makes me jerk. The male orderly, I can vividly remember told me, "Ma'am, ma'am!! Ayaw'g lihok ma'am kay isulod na ni doc saimong likod, please ma'am please lang ma'am para di naka masakitan." HAHAHA thinking about it now, that was freaking insane and I did that! Holy molly!! After several attempts, I got used to my doctor's cold hands and she successfully put the epidural line in place.

A few minutes after that, I can feel my waist down starts numbing. I told my anesth and she confirmed that it is in fact taking effect right away, I should start feeling numb from the waist down. I can still feel a bit of pain but that should only be the pressure that comes from the contractions. She's still there, pep talking me. It really helped! We've talked a lot of things, but sorry, my laboring brain cannot recall a thing about it lol. I feel at ease with her and from my 100/10 pain scale, it's down to 4/10. Sick, right?! Why did they make me suffer like that for so many hours when I can just have this?! lol. The nurses continued putting me sideways. They turn me to the other side, idk, every 30mins? At around 4am, my doctor arrived. Finally, a familiar face! She IEd me right away, and I am already at 6cm. Thank goodness! An improvement, not a lot but at least there's something happening. I guess turning me from side to side helped. After a while, I started to feel like I'm losing the numb. I can feel all the pain and started crying again. I told my anesth that I'm feeling the pain again, she said, "Tel, everything is okay naman. Anjan parin yung epidural line. Check natin ha?" So she did, and figured that the line inserted to me is dislodged halfway. That's why the pain is back! At this point, I didn't mind much of this pain because I am already feeling alleviated just by the thought of my Ob-Gyne being here. Here's when they ask me to start pushing every time I can feel a contraction. So it started, the orchestrated pushing. 2 nurses by my left side, 1 anesth on the right and 2 OBs by my foot, they ordered me to push for 10 secs. and we're gonna do the same pushing, 3x. And OMG! That didn't even helped her move a centimeter. My Ob-Gyne started talking to RJ outside for a plan B or for worse case scenario. She's letting him know that if ever there's no improvement in the next 2 hours, we'll have to prepare for an emergency C-section considering the fhr. At this point, I'm already getting nervous, scared and in so much pain - all at the same time. I don't want to get a C-section because 1. I wanted to deliver it normally as NSD babies are proven scientifically to be more healthy growing up than c-section babies, 2. I am not mentally prepared for having a c-section, lastly, it's expensive. In between my trial pushes, my OB talks to me, gives me an update what's happening outside. I learned from her that she was able to talk to my mom over videocall. She said that my mom is worried but reassured me that they're with me, whatever my decision will be. My OB is still encouraging me to push and that I can do this via NSD. I do not have an actual problem with that since that's what I also prefer, however, I am afraid this might go south due to my cervix opening not getting an improvement at all. And also, the pain! It's really making me impatient. I just want to get over everything and rest.

2 hours, that's my deadline. If we go beyond that, we're gonna prepare for C-section. I have been crying intently at this point because of the pain. I can almost feel everything. It also added some pressure on me when I noticed I was actually facing a huge glass window and that it's almost sunrise! In my cloudy head, I said to myself, I've been here before midnight yet it's morning now and I am still stuck here, very pregnant! I'm already very tired and in pain - the pain is just so awful that I can only open my eyes halfway. I glanced at the clock, it's past 6am when they started to move rather quickly, I glanced on my right to check my baby's heart rate monitor and it's already noticeably low. I said to myself, oh, that's why they're moving now. I looked at my Anesth and she's already communicating to my OB. My OB started ordering the nurses to prepare "faster." This time, they're finally telling me my baby's heart rate is low so we need to get the baby out, ASAP. My Anesth and OB are still talking since I'm crying that I am in so much pain, I can't concentrate pushing with this kind of ache. They agreed to put me on another dose of anesthesia before pushing. I gave my consent. I glanced at what's happening around and it took me a while to contain that this is really happening, at any moment now, I'm gonna see my baby. I can still see everyone's game-face on beneath the masks they're wearing. I started to calm down knowing that they got me. My OB started commanding everyone to focus and acquainted me on pushing. "1,2,3 push and then mag count kami Tel ng 10 seconds, push for 10 secs. Repeat natin 'yan 'til lumabas si baby. Okay?" My anesth is holding my head and shoulders - an actual safe support for me while pushing.

In just two cycles of pushing, I heard, "Baby out!" and with my eyes half open, I saw them putting my baby on my chest but then taking them away quickly because she's not crying!

SaL anon here friend, stuck somewhere between cheering "We're back baby!!" and "WTF was that 😳😳😳!!!???". We've got the firefam back and going strong in every way, be it collectively or with their partners, and the vibes have been sorely missed. On the other hand exactly how are we supposed to interpret Buck and Eddie's relationship other than exactly what you're putting on the damn screen Tim??!! There's literally only one logical conclusion to completing the Diaz family once Eddie is asking Buck directly to help him parent, and it sure as hell isn't Folger's coffee Marisol (or KR's mom's best friend). Also when the stage direction for these two is apparently "make a lot of sexual innuendos but with only facial expressions" while Ryan's direction in the Marisol scenes is "act like she's present" 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Anywho, loved this start to the season, it ranged seamlessly from deeply personal to jello talk (to the very non subtle Natalia bashing) and if this is what we're in for I'm very much on board, so cheers friend and let's welcome our show home!!

Yooooo! How are we feeling after that episode?! It was WILD, right? Hands down the best premier episode they've had since season 3. Plus, the emergency for the next two (!!!) episodes looks like it's going to be the heart-pounding and engaging action that actually hits some emotional beats that we've sorely missed! Tim is bringing that sweet, sweet, firefam energy and it's PALPABLE in every scene where the heart of the show lies, and that is with our mains. (We didn't get a lot of Hen, but I feel like she's going to be featured more heavily next week which we probably wouldn't have noticed if the show got a 2 hour premier like the big emergencies used to get.)

The Buddie stuff was....whoo boy. Having the blurry background gf for the flashback to the date, but Buck being the one Eddie goes to when an issue comes up? LOUD! Buck being asked to step in and co-parent when the difficult conversation needs to happen? LOUD! Having Buck and Shannon sit in the same place on the bed to "talk" to Chris? LOUD LOUD LOUD! At the end of the day, I'm just happy we're getting to see Buddie have scenes together and actually SEE that they are best friends and in each other's pockets. But also, like...how are you going to establish that there isn't anyone who can co-parent with Eddie like Buck can and expect anyone to root for either of them forcing some rando into that space?! And don't get me started on that weird serial killer grimace smile Marisol has painted onto her face. She had a blip second of screentime and it was already SO cringe. Can we just be done with that now?

Speaking of done, I am STILL laughing at Tim coming in like, "The death doula was STUPID, it wasn't at ALL what Buck would need or want, and we aren't gonna do it! I planned a scene, but actually we have more important stuff to do!" Meanwhile, the "more important stuff" was Eddie being shirtless while Buck ogles him, Eddie putting his hand on Buck's pulse again while Buck blushes and smiles, Buck talking about sexual tension while walking towards Eddie dick first and holding a fire extinguisher hose in front of his crotch and proceeding to spray it, Buck and Eddie co-parenting seamlessly, and basically Buck and Eddie making heart eyes at each other any time the other did anything. If nothing else, Tim has a WEALTH of info to point back to as signposts if anyone wants to try and argue that Buddie came out of nowhere, like DAMN. Get a ROOM you two!

ANYWAY. I'm stoked for next week! I am ready to see Bobby and Athena going through it while the firefam are fighting to get to them! I am READY to see more Madney being adorable and heartfelt and their scenes being funny while not just being played off for laughs (not that KR was ever able to keep Kenny and JLH from bring the feels in every interaction because they're actually good at their jobs, but you know what I mean). I am dyyyyying to know what Hen and Karen are up to right now, and I am ready to see the whole crew back at work! (I'm also here for any more shade Timmy wants to throw around because some of the comments, and some of the lines in the show have got me like 🤭🤭🤭)

ABC came out swinging with all the promo and having EVERYONE doing interviews (god bless, Oliver needed a break), and the premier episode absolutely backed up all that work and money they put in. I am cautiously optimistic that, at least as far as getting the show back on track to those early season vibes, we are in for some good times and delicious drama that is still human and centered instead of OTT soapy. Cheers and fingers crossed this momentum keeps up and gets people engaged so we can get a full season 8!

EENE Episodes:

5. Smile for the Ed ; I know it's a contentious episode, but I like some of the insight we gain IRT Eddy and his mom. And even though Eddy gets mistreated hard in this episode, the way it's presented ostensibly takes Eddy's side and really makes you feel for him. He didn't do anything that would warrant how he's treated, illustrating that the kids kind of just suck and almost certainly contribute to how he reacts to them in some of his less glamorous episodes.

4. Dueling Eds ; It's another good Eddy episode and just fun all around. Still gets a laugh out of me when Edd just Dies at the end. Also I adore when Tony's Canadian accent slipped in when Eddy was apologizing lmao.

3. A Fistful of Ed ; Great Edd episode and just well written and fun all around. I think everyone is characterized really good here, and it's one of those nice rare occasions that it's not a downer ending.

2. Dawn of the Eds ; Ed3 friendship at it's best! It's an early episode, but their dynamic here is so fun and IMO at its strongest. It's probably the episode I rewatch the most besides...

1. Big Picture Show ; I KNOW this isn't an episode, but I love the movie so much. I adore the set up, the genre deconstruction, and how it basically constitutes as an Eddy redemption arc of sorts. I love how dark it is, especially in retrospect. I love how it recontextualizes the show as a whole. Just... chef's kiss.

(If you only wanna count episodes and not the movie, number 5 would be May I Have This Ed and the others would shift down uwu).

Songs I like atm:

5. Happier in Hell by Royal & the Serpent. Relatable and makes me feel bad, but in a good way if you know what I mean. Cathartic I guess? "Maybe you're not sad enough" has me in a chokehold.

4. Spit by Poppy. It's better than the original full stop. She is such a good screamer I can't!!!

3. LosT by Bring Me the Horizon. Oli Sykes said he can just do whatever the fuck he wants and make a mid-2000s esque emo song and y'know what? He's so right.

2. Half by PVRIS. I really vibe with this song. Excellent representation of what having depression is like. Another one of those feel bad, cathartic songs I dig.

it's about time i write at least some semblance of a review for gadzooks volume 2 rather than continuing to throw out vaguely incomprehensible text posts about it so. here goes

SO it feels weird to say that ANYTHING is better than volume 1 bcus I have such a deep deep love for that album it almost feels like a betrayal. but objectively 2 IS better it takes everything from 1 and builds on it. every single thing caleb releases manages to be better than the last even when the last one has had you for months like "this is the best album in the world". like it absolutely has the same vibes as 1 and feels like how a volume 2 of something should feel yknow but it also feels like. tighter & slightly more cohesive without losing that experimental wandering feeling that 1 had. & I feel like 1 was such a departure from the mother stone and then 2 kind of brings some elements from tms back around like it had those moments that feel dark and sweeping in the way that only tms does.

yknow how people do those web weaving posts collecting artwork or quotes I am mentally doing that w music all the time & it's like this album takes the best of both the previous albums like. touchdown yolk is in between a venn diagram of you're so wonderful and this won't come back. obviously not like its just a mix of them both but like i fewl elements of each in it & like. those are mt absolute big favorites on both albums so of course thay ends up my favorite on this ine. near the end of the album it's like you get the vibes from little planet pig but also for a short time. love how opening with croc killers 2 followed by little lion kind of mirrors the never wet + yesterday will come combo as opening up volume 1. & I've always felt like one of the strongest & most interesting things in his songwriting is the way a song will like go in and out of different parts then bring another part back & loop around and you'll almost forget how the beginning started but then the same elements come back around & thinking about that interview where he says it comes from writing songs mentally while on set so he's not recording or writing them down really just keeping them in his brain for months where they grow and warp & blend and how obstacles and challenges are where creativity really shines through. & I feel like the shanty shine achieves this more strongly than anything since you're so wonderful. (WAIT california also does this extremely well to a smaller extent) but THEN just a few songs later slink on fido does it just as well.

i also love the way vocals are used so many songs out there feel like it's just about the vocals & the music is just there to support it but with a lot of Caleb's stuff it feels more like the voice is just another instrument that weaves in and out, sometimes it gets more focus but sometimes not there will be times where it feels more like strings or drums are the star of the show and I love love love that. makes all of his songs feel so thought out and cohesive and more like the vocals are PART of a song & other things aren't sacrificed for the sake of vocals. so much stuff I'll listen to an instrumental version & be like wait you can't even hear that sound, you never even notice that in the version with vocals, wtf, & wish there was more balance between the two. I feel like his stuff does that balancing act extremely well. 

& ik I had previously said idk if croc killers 1 is as strong of a closer as this won't come back but at that time I hadn't realized that the entire last 8 mins of the album was all that song so I'm going to amend that statement. when comparing just the VERY end like final minute of each song's ending twcb will always win out over anything that final minute is like The Finale To End All Finales. to me. I've already talked to death about that so I won't go on but otherwise. yeah croc killers 1 is just as strong an ending if im being objective & putting aside twcb being so special to me personally. OH & I didn't even touch on the more abstract synesthesia stuff like I meant to but yeah it goes back to 2 feeling a bit tighter & more cohesive just looking at what colors tend to pop up like 1 goes through such a journey from skies and grass & light colors to reds & pinks & blacks then to a mix of both & back & forth while 2 feels much more consistently jewel toned. crimsons at the start & orange and green & mostly darker throughout the later songs. while I feel like it absolutely sounds much more like 1 with some of the elements of tms brought back in my minds eye it's colors are much closer to tms than vol 1 which is inch resting. anyway. I didn't even get into lyrics bcus I still feel like I haven't spent enough time with the album in isolation to dive into looking them all up & figuring them out for sure yet.

OOO PLAYBOY IS ANOTHER I KNOW and love a lot. i mentioned once that i love the exo version but i always wished there was an official recording by jjong since both have different energies. i could go into it but i think jjong's live version he did once felt more... smooth? while the exo version feels a lot more playful and teasing. both are so good in different ways. it works so well with their voices imo but god i can only think of jonghyun when i hear it. it feels like such a Him song to write. i'll stop talking abt him but know that i do love the way EXO did the song.

my recommendation is to write your answers to some interview questions (particularly the past conflict resolution and weaknesses ones) down somewhere you'll be able to reference them - you're allowed to bring your own notes into the interview to refer to, which can really help if/when your brain goes blank from nerves. just try to find the balance between referencing off them so you're not a stuttering mess and and sounding way too rehearsed and coming off as disingenuous - dot point prompts would be your friend here.

when they ask questions like "what is your weakness", make sure you have a solution to compensate for this weakness - for example, i have memory problems that mean i can be prone to forgetting verbal instructions, so prefer to receive instructions via email or to write them down as the person is giving them and read them back to them afterwards to ensure my understanding is correct.

similarly, for the problems in the workplace question, as the graphic says you should be able to say that it was resolved positively and quickly, but you should also give details on how it was resolved, particularly emphasising your role in the resolution.

if they ask you how you would do xyz and you don't know how, say that you don't know but then explain what you would do to find out (troubleshoot, refer to pre-existing manuals, google, ask for help). it makes you look proactive and tells them you won't give up at the first sign of a hurdle (and that you won't bug them with easily answered questions).

with regards to your questions at the end of the interview, there are a number of threads on r/askreddit about this topic - just search 'job interview' in the subreddit, and one should come up pretty quickly. some questions i have ready to go (which you should tailor depending on what has been said already) include:

was this position just created, or will i be replacing someone? - this is to get an understanding of what sort of environment you're walking into, as well as an idea of the potential for growth within the company (if you're replacing someone who's gotten promoted, they're likely to tell you).

can you tell me about the team i will be working with? - similarly, helps you understand the dynamics you're walking into, how large the team is, and hopefully at least a vague idea of whether it's an 'everyone's friends with everyone' vibe or if everyone puts their head down and does their work.

what does a successful employee look like in this position? - gives you an idea of the expectations of the role, and can be helpful once you're already in it and are like ...wtf do i actually do here, again?

in addition, at the end of the interview, if they don't mention it, ask when you should expect to hear from them - this will give you a rough timeline of when you should start getting antsy if you haven't heard from them, plus it makes you look eager to work with them.

So I have a few questions, is your next chapter going to be MiF or SiC? And if its MiF where are we in the timeline? And whose Pov?

Question 2! So we, as readers, know that Brian thinks that Dom is the best thing since sliced bread. No, wait since Easter. But does Dom know this yet? Beause I'm still getting some 'I can't fuck this up vibes' everytime that Dom has to bring up something even a little uncomfortable, but in Brians Pov hes giving Dom a gold star at least once a day.

Its my headcannon that eventually Brian pulls a Dom and buys some stars and starts handing them out for every worthy event. But it's not just gold stars, it's the whole bronze, silver, and gold range! I just know that Dom would be genuinely touched while the team would be having a 'WTF is going on' moment the first day

I also have another headcannon that Brians not just slipping his gold stars in his drawer, but he accidentally made himself a star chart by getting himself a journal and putting his newly earned stars in there and making notes about how/why he could have earned this one. He would be acting like a criminal investigator trying to solve a mystery. And if Brian would start gifting some stars, Dom would be doing the same thing. Every star would be an absolute mystery to him, and he would need to figure it out so be could earn more, but Brians reasons would be so off the wall to him. There would be mass confusion.

Another question... what are the personalities of the Kelly Clan? (I saw this name in the comments, and I fell in love, lol) I know that Brian should probably get a break, but the angst would be too good if they weren't. Also, I definitely know that they would not be ready for the feral disaster that Brian is. The team has had more than two years with Brian, and they still get surprised by him constantly. The Doyles could not handle the chaos.

I also kinda wanna see the Toretto Family (the aunties and uncles) going absolutely feral at the idea of someone trying to take away Dom's skinny white boy. My heart would attempt to burst if the entire family showed up to some official type of meeting for moral support or something...

Re: MiF or SiC - Definitely SiC, I have another story posting right now so there won't be any MiF until I finish that, so minimum a few weeks. I have a few options for what it could be so I'm unsure. Dom's POV or non-Dom's POV to be contemplated. If you have feelings on that feel free to weigh in (no guarantees, lol, the muse goes where the muse goes, especially when the muse in question is supposed to be blessing me with editing powers).

Question 2 - All of the revelations in the hotel after the punch definitely helped Dom understand that a shift has happened in Brian regarding his trust in Dom and his (un)willingness to leave. Though we haven't had a Dom's POV of this post-punch shift yet we're seeing Dom acting with this in mind in SiC - for instance he pushes Brian to read that letter and buy the clothes when before he might have done more tiptoeing around it or backed down if Brian got mad. So he definitely understands that in Brian's eyes he's doing a lot better than Dom often thinks himself. Debatable if he agrees but still a balm to the weary soul.

Stars - I live for all of these stars thoughts! Especially the bit about Dom having to figure out his stars. If he started getting told about (or handed) his stars then he would definitely be confused by some of them. Brian hands them out for some offbeat things sometimes lol. We will continue to see the stars being awarded mentally and literally! We perhaps might even have things coming that are relevant to your interests... ;)

Kelly Clan - Technically they're the Doyle Clan lol but I like Kelly Clan too. I WANT to talk about them but alas even though I'm cool with letting little spoilers slip on tumblr, the big spoilers must remain unspoiled. Also, I want you to wonder about them and their intentions just like Brian is. An immersive experience, if you will ;) That letter won't be the last we see of them though!

The Torettos - Unfortunately we aren't going to see loads of them in SiC but I do love writing for them. I have some MiF I'm working on that includes them more, including ones we haven't seen in the main story yet, so hopefully I get those finished to share :)
