gonna submit some zexal characters that i don’t think i’ve seen so far (keeping in mind my memory is atrocious lol)
Ryoga Kamishiro / Reginald Kastle as both gay and trans masc (both non canon) he was one of my gender awakenings so i cannot see him as cis
Cathy Katherine as (non canon) lesbian. a lot of her interactions with Kotori come off as more flirty than teasing to me
Charlie McCoy/McCay has strong bisexual vibes to me (non canon)
controversial but Mr. Heartland is some flavor of queer (non canon)
Kyoji Yagumo from the manga. not even a particular headcanon just his vibes. very “this character is LGBT; what like all at once”
and last but not least, Vector as (non canon) gay and a trans guy. he is like enemies to lovers soulmates with Nasch. also i don’t have it but there’s a frame where he looks like he has boobs so that’s cool.
all ygo characters can be gay if you just believe in the heart of the cards or whatever, but these are the ones i wanted to share
third vote for shark, second vote for vector, everyone else is added!
#Submission#“all ygo characters can be gay if you just believe in the heart of the cards or whatever” made me laugh out loud thanks anon

YGO! Questionnaire
Tagged by @cipher-wise
Pleasantly surprised to be in one of these, so let’s go
Favorite series: *Gestures to icon* Is it any surprise I’ll be picking GX? I love GX with all my heart and soul. The story’s pacing is very good and never feels like it’s dragging its feet to get to where it’s going, most duels are over in less than a full episode with the longest one being three, there are so many good characters to get invested in, and this boy right here is your protagonist.
Look at him blow kisses to the audience after beating Crowler, how could anyone not love Jaden Yuki? I care him so much. Even the filler episodes in GX are pretty fun to watch most of the time, and it’s the good kind of filler that may not advance the plot much or at all, but it’ll give you plenty of good memories to take with you. Who could possibly forget the eggwich thief? Not to mention the soundtrack fucking slaps.
Favorite protagonist: I mean...
Yeah it’s Jaden. GX hooked me immediately when I started watching it because of how much I loved this boy. He’s that perfect mix of cocky and sweet when it comes to dueling because he’s confident in his own abilities, but he never stops having fun and being amazed at what his opponent can do, he cares about all of his friends and does his best to help them with their problems, he’s kind to strangers, and he has exactly half a brain cell.
I feel the gif speaks for itself, but Jaden’s dialogue when he turns around here is “I’m such a sucker for things like this! I’ll help you, ma’am!” Dorothy says “No, you’ll be late... Don’t you have a test today?” And Jaden replies with “Who cares if I’m late? I couldn’t leave a lady in trouble!” Jaden Yuki is my absolute favorite protagonist.
Favorite rival: Oh man is that a tough one. Am I allowed to pick two? It’s a hard call to make between this dumb edgy bitch-
And this dumb gay bitch
Honestly they’re tied for favorite rival in my book. I absolutely loved Chazz when I watched GX, and I thought his arc about breaking through his inferiority/superiority complex and learning to accept loss as a part of life without letting it define him was wonderfully written, and seeing him grow as a person throughout the show just made me feel happy for him. Shark... I really thought I wasn’t going to end up liking Shark at first, but god he just gets so much better as Zexal goes on, starting out as this mean spirited middle school bully in episode one, and slowly ending up as Yuma’s boyfriend closest friend. It’s incredible to look back at how Shark acts when he’s first introduced and compare it to... season 3, I think it was, where just hearing the words “Yuma’s in danger” is enough to send him running to his rival’s side. Chazz and Shark. They are my favorites.
Favorite BFF: Him
Crow Hogan is an absolute treasure and he was my favorite part about watching 5Ds. This little bird man first gets introduced by stealing cards for his kids and clowning on Sector Security, and he’s a source of so much good throughout the show. Excellent best friend (technically brother but I’m counting him), wonderful father, 10/10 person all around. Plus the fact that the only thing stopping him from berating his bitchass brother even more was Yusei having to literally pick him up and pull him away is definitely extra points in my book. What a powerful little bird. His only weakness is people that are taller than him, which is unfortunately most people.
Favorite GFF:
Yuzu. Have I actually watched Arc V yet? No, but I’m still picking Yuzu for my number one here. Tea and Tori are just awful characters, I’m neutral towards Alexis, and Akiza... Did have potential to be something interesting on her own, despite how uncomfortable she made me in seasons 1-2 of 5Ds, but her relevance is alllll downhill from there. I’ve seen one clip of Yuzu yelling at a man eating pie and calling him a 100th rate duelist, and that was all I needed to know she would be my favorite. (Clip here)
Favorite villain: Oh boy
The fuckin carrot is my favorite villain, and I say this as someone who fully believes he didn’t deserve to be in the last episode. Vector did some fucked up shit in his day, and he only continued to do fucked up shit in Yuma’s day, but I have to say he was pretty effective when it came down to his goals. He got things done and went right for what he wanted by taking direct action to seize Don Thousand’s power, and he manipulated Yuma perfectly by preying on his kind nature and love for Astral to use him to further his goals.
...Plus I mean just look at his subbed dialogue God he’s such a slut. Evil slutty alien.
Tl;dr Vector was a horrible horrible person, but he was a good villain, and he was so entertaining whenever he was on screen that it was impossible not to like him. Still kinda wish he got what he deserved though, and what he deserved definitely wasn’t another chance.
Speaking of Don Thousand though, can we talk about how unfairly pretty he is? If I had to pick a runner up villain in terms of looks alone, it would definitely be him.
God it was not fair how pretty the big bad of Zexal was. He’s fucking gorgeous, and in my opinion, the best looking villain at the very least.
Favorite card: *Sweats in Duel Links* Favorite? There’s so many cards out there to pick from, but since I’ve already broken the rules with my two favorite rivals, I’ll be picking two of each card type: Spells, traps, and monsters. One for the aesthetic, and one for how often I make use of it.
First up, the Aesthetics group
What can I say, Vampiric Koala is such a cutie, Dwimmered Path has some really pretty card art, and Rainbow Life is an eternal flex on any heteros I may encounter while playing Duel Links. Nothing better than a gay trap card.
Now for usability
Dragon Knight of Creation is suuuper helpful in any dragon themed deck and has a permanent slot in my decks for Mokuba and Kaiba, PoG is always a fun way to boost up weak monsters to ridiculous heights, and Dark Bribe just lets you block your opponent like “Okay I know you wanna hurt me but I will let you draw another card if you do not do that thing”, and they can’t refuse you.
Favorite episode: I’ll be copying cipher’s format here and picking one for each series, but this will still only total out to five for me since I’ve yet to watch past Zexal ^^; Soon I’ll get to Arc V! One day...
Season 0: Episode 16: Turnabout by a Hair's Breadth - The White-Robed Crisis I’m a sucker for my son Joey, and this was a good Joey episode about him and his sister, plus it was nice seeing that doctor get what he deserved :) Duel Monsters: Season 5, episode 12-14: The Deciding Match for Duel King - Yugi vs. Leon/Golden Castle of Stromberg/KC Grand Prix Ends Probably a weird batch of episodes to pick, I know, but a lot of DM was kinda forgettable to me, and these are some of the few episodes I do recall. I just... really felt for Leon’s situation, and I wanted good things for that boy. I care him. GX: Season 3, episode 34: Dark Fusion! Inferno Wing!! Jim. Jim Jim Jimmmmm. This was the episode that finally made me understand why saviorshipping was a thing because it hits you with all these memories Jim has of Jaden and shows how they bonded before all this Dark World shit happened, and the whole thing was very emotional. 5Ds: Season 4, episode 2-3: Recollections, Entrusted with a Friend's Dying Wish God Crow, my precious bird son. I really liked the backstory they gave him, despite how much it hurt. It was probably the best character development he got in the whole of 5Ds, and let you see a side to him you probably wouldn’t expect. I loved watching him get his justice. Zexal II: Season 2, episode 5-6: Alito the Silent Fighter - Reunion of the Passionate Duelists!/ Be Revived! The Duelist Soul That Transcends Life!! I picked these episodes for Nistro and Nistro alone. He was one of my absolute favorites in Zexal, and seeing how well he and Dextra were doing was good for the soul. Just look at this good lion man right here.
Look at him!!!
Favorite decks to use: Elemental Heroes, Aromages, Red Eyes, Six Samurai, and Crystal Beasts.
Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, or Link: I’m a simple girl, I love fusion/tributes for how easy they are, but synchro can be pretty fun, too
Years in fandom: ??? Even I don’t know the answer to this one, friends. I used to be in the fandom when I was in middle school, wrote/read a few fanfics here and there, but then I fell out of it for... Well I’m 22 now and only got back into things 6 months ago? I started rewatching the abridged series of Duel Monsters in March, and from there I just wanted to consume actual Yugioh content and never went back.

YGO Questionnaire Part 2 Electric Boogaloo
So, my gf/bf @howaboutalittlehelpneos tagged me to do this again a... good long while ago, and I had wanted to wait until I'd finished my GX rewatch before trying this again. But ouch oof I accidentally also got through all of 5Ds again before getting to this lol
But the 5Ds rewatch definitely reshaped a lot of my thoughts, so... cracks knuckles. This won't be spoiler free, fair warning~
Favorite Series: ugh the formatting killed my original essay on this but okay GX and 5Ds are pretty tied in my book, now-- I love them equally, but in different ways! GX fulfills my love for subversive coming-of-age stories with a heartwarming, humorous, and also soulcrushing touch, and I love how each season brings a new story and new characters-- it's like reading installments of a novel series, and I think the formatting works wonders for it as a whole. It has some absolutely phenomenal character writing, too-- even the characters I dislike are ones I can appreciate for what they introduce to the story! And honestly, not enough people give the first two seasons of GX the credit it deserves: they're half the charm, really. How are you going to feel the full impact of the heartbreaking content in seasons 3 and 4 if you aren't properly attached to the characters?
But on 5Ds's side of things... it fulfills my love for stories with time loops, found family, human nature, and of course, love and death and how they intertwine. I love how the leading characters are just a bunch of broken kids from broken circumstances who all find a home with each other, and of course, how it highlights class disparity and how fucked up the prison/"justice" systems are. Yea, sure, maybe it underwent executive meddling and all, but I genuinely love it for what it is and I wish more people appreciated it... my only problem with 5Ds is the untwist with Z-ONE and then the ending s m h I adore it overall and I could go off for a long while on it. Overall, these are my two instinctive recommendations for anyone getting into Yugioh!
(look at these boys they're so important) Favorite Protagonist: Oh, believe me, absolutely nothing has changed here-- Yusei Fudo is and always will be my favorite protagonist, and my rewatch only solidified that.
I just... love him so much? He's seen so much hell in his life and carries so much guilt on his shoulders, but he still has room in his heart to believe in others and to believe that anyone can defy fate and find hope even at rock bottom. I love that he's initially introduced as this quiet, brooding figure when he really just turns out to be a huge softie who wears his heart on his sleeve half the time and wants to bring about change for Satellite and its people. Plus I just really love that his greatest flaw is something that would ordinarily be a positive trait-- he's Overly self-sacrificial, to the point where he's basically setting himself on fire to keep others warm, and that's not really framed as something Heroic
Just... he makes me so happy. I have two Yusei charms that I ordinarily keep on my keys (one was a gift from Zenzen) and they're a constant source of serotonin for me. He's Peak comfort character for me. Best protag in my book Favorite Rival: Same deal here-- still Manjoume!
look at him he's so important
While he spends a lot of the anime getting the good old damsel in distress treatment (getting suckered into a cult, getting knocked into a coma, becoming a zombie, getting fucking Killed, etc), I still think his character arc is really well-written overall and I only appreciated it even more when I watched GX again. I love the fact that he's got a soft heart he buries beneath the edgy facade, and that he's simultaneously really sharp and also kind of dense lol. He's just a fun character and watching how he evolves from episode one to episode one hundred eighty is such a satisfying journey.
Plus, props to him for being such a versatile duelist-- 50 wins in a row is HARD as is, let alone with a deck full of cards he just found laying around in the Arctic. Three ace monsters, three different archetypes... he's a really good duelist and I'm proud of him for it
Oh, but honestly, I don't really dislike any of the rivals-- I'm neutral towards Revolver and Reiji, but the remaining four (Kaiba, Manjoume, Jack, and Shark) compel me. yes I accidentally wound up liking Jack Atlas shhh Favorite BFF: Honestly, I really like most of the characters who fit this archetype-- Joey, Crow, Gongenzaka, Soulburner... I still lean a little bit more towards Joey, but I really appreciate all four of them. I'm gonna say Joey again, just because I find his evolution as a character the most compelling, but I appreciate the other three a lot. Soulburner has the best design though Favorite GFF: Oh absolutely still Aki, but I honestly... really love most female Yugioh characters? I'm assuming this is lead girls only, but like. I'm dumb and gay and I love Girls so this is naturally the most difficult one for me to answer lol
Aki just resonates with me the most because she's the prime example of how trauma doesn't always manifest in palatable ways-- when we first meet her, she's angry and lashes out at anyone and anything just because she wants the world to suffer in the same ways she's suffered, and then... we get to watch her grow from that, once she's free from Divine and able to heal the way she needs to heal. I know the second half of 5Ds didn't give her character the attention it deserved, but I'm still proud of her for winding up on the path she did-- seeing her channel her power and energy into wanting to heal and help others was just so good and was one of the few things I really Loved about the 5Ds ending.
oh, but like. Asuka Tenjoin and Aoi Zaizen are very close seconds for me!!! Aki just has a vice grip on my heart Favorite Villain: Okay, it's still technically Vector-- I think he's the most entertaining, well-written, and effective villain out of all of the ones we've seen so far, but... I also want to add Takuma Saiou and then all of Yliaster as honorable mentions?
As someone fond of tarot myself, I was naturally pretty intrigued by Saiou the first time I watched GX, but my attachment to him only grew the second time around where I actually got the chance to understand his character better. Plus, like... the visuals with him are fucking astounding and he's always so interesting to watch.
As for Yliaster, I just... really love how the big bad of 5Ds turned out to just essentially be a broken man desperate to save anyone and anything and three robotic reconstructions of the friends he'd lost. I still think the untwist with Z-ONE was stupid and I much prefer the idea of him and Yusei being the same person, but I'm still compelled by the other three-- well. Paradox less so, because we don't get a lot of Paradox lore, but. Aporia and Antinomy for sure.
ugh Yugioh has some damn good villains
Favorite Card: now that I actually play the TCG game...
Stardust is always going to be my favorite of all cards because it checks every box for me (my favorite YGO character's ace monster, space theme, what more could I want), but Aromaseraphy Rosemary has really become one of my aces in my best TCG deck! I'm still mastering irl plays, but I'm happy with my progress and I love my plant gang...
Favorite Episode: alright, here's where there's actually been a Lot of change, so...
Season 0: Episode 16: "Turnabout by a Hair's Breadth - The White-Robed Crisis" -- The more I think about this one, the more I love it; there's a... lot of corruption in the medical industry, and I've seen a lot of it firsthand, so just. Seeing a corrupt doctor get what he deserved at the end was cathartic, in a way? Plus, a Jounouchi-centric episode is always a good time.
Duel Monsters: Episodes 96-97: "Darkness vs. Darkness/One Turn Kill" -- this hasn't changed, I still love seeing Marik and Bakura bitch at each other for two whole episodes LMAO
GX: Episode 152: "Activate Super-Fusion! Rainbow Neos" -- This one hasn't changed and it likely never will-- I take so much pride in seeing Judai push forward, past the fear and guilt he's carrying, all to save Johan... it's cathartic and I never get sick of watching it.
5Ds: sweats. still all of Crash Town, but also episodes 137-147-- the Ark Cradle is one of my favorite parts of 5Ds and one of my favorite YGO arcs period, and even though each duel is a fucking gut punch, I love the emotional intensity and weight in each episode... It hurts but in a mostly good way
Zexal: Episode 143: "The Aloof Duelist 'Nasch': The Destined Final Duel" -- this one hasn't changed! Still hurts, still love it, I still weep over Ryouga Shark Kamishiro on a daily basis
Arc-V: Episodes 81-82: "Our Respective Battlefields/The Ultimate Falcon VS The Black-Feathered Thunder" -- Okay, honestly, this was hard because I... genuinely. really don't like Arc-V very much at all lol (it's just not my cup of tea, but more power to those who do like it!), but I thought this duel was a lot of fun! Shun is my absolute favorite from Arc-V and I really like the friendship he struck up with Crow a lot, so here we are
VRAINS (so far): Episode 25-26: "Virus Deck Operation/Three Draws Leading to Hope" -- honestly I am so biased because I just really love Blue Angel and I loved seeing her get a well-deserved victory like this lol. I'm not done with VRAINS, so this is probably gonna change, but anytime Blue Angel or Soulburner are on screen, I'm happy
Favorite Decks to Use: Aromages will always have my heart, but I adore Cyber Angels too! I'm building my Trickstar deck, my Synchron/Stardust deck (just waiting on Dawn of Majesty...), and my Magician Girls deck, too! Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, or Link?: Synchros my beloved... but also Ritual Years in fandom: I've been here for just a little over one year now! and I wuv it... I'm never looking back Who am I tagging: no one I'm too shy

ARC V Anniversary Day 4
Discussion prompt: Who’s your favorite character(s)?
Hoo boy, I ended up making a top 10 because there’s so many lovable characters in this cast and I want to talk about them all... Warning for incredibly long descriptions as the top goes on (I’m sorry for mobile users)
10. Reira Akaba
Look at this precious bab. Right off the bat I knew I would like them — I have a kind of weakness for child characters (Rua is one of my faves from 5DS too for a reason), but I never actually expected to love them as much as I do right now. Seeing this little afraid kid with no sense of self grow into a person of their own and playing a literal key role in the resolution of the final conflict was so satisfying.
09. Ray Akaba
Aand naturally, with me loving Reira it probably comes off as no surprise that I love Ray too. Even with the extremely limited screentime, she shot through the roof as one of my favorites. She was no goddess or super powerful entity that had the equal means to fight Zarc, but she did so anyway. And she won. She’s the porter of an incredibly inspiring message and pretty much symbolizes the core of ARC V’s narrative; she saw trouble and she knew cowering in fear would solve nothing, so she took a step forward with courage and believed in her own worth. POINT IS, Ray is awesome.
08. Rin
Ahh, Rin... It’s one of the few cases where it’s hard for me to articulate what I like about her the most. I actually wasn’t super invested in her when I first finished watching the show, but one of my friends really likes Yugo and Rin and that got me to think more about her beyond her lack of screentime, and I found myself suddenly appreciating her a lot. She has all her pragmatic yet caring personality and goals scattered throughout the show if you pay attention to her interactions with Yugo, and you can actually get a extremely solid grasp on the kind of the person she is — even her deck plays into it (a logical and ruthless Burn Damage deck, which showcases she’s not here for anyone’s bullshit).
07. Shun Kurosaki
Shun is a fairly biased case for me, I’ll totally admit. I didn’t actually like him that much during my watch of the show though, and it wasn’t until the XYZ/Fusion Arc that I looked at the events of ARC V in retrospective and realised how much Shun had been involved in. I’m a sucker for stoic and ruthless characters learning to trust people again, and Shun fit into the mold perfectly. And he definitely did strike me as cool from the first go, with Rise Falcon’s insane OTK against the LDS Trio back in Standard, so even if I wasn’t actively rooting for his character I wanted to see what direction he’d take. Seeing him grow and finally make peace with the Yuto/Ruri situation at the end of the show made me incredibly happy; I think that he could finally start leaving all the bitterness and pain behind and begin a new journey of hope with his comrades.
06. Serena
Another case of me being somewhat (okay, really) gay and biased for girls. I loved Serena right from the first go; her pushy and pretty aggressive personality caught my interest, and we got a glimpse of her backstory with Reiji pretty soon after her introduction, which made me feel connected with her very easily. Yet another misguided Academia student — though her arc is completely different compared to say, Sora’s or Dennis’s. She had even less information about the outside world than the rest of the Fusion gang did, and so of course the key for her was learning the truth. Thanks to Yuzu and Shun she was able to check by herself how horrorific her Academia comrades’s actions had been, and she immediately decides to fight against the injustice. There’s something admirable about her relentless courage and will to do what’s right, and she never stops being herself and fighting like she wants to the very bitter end. Pretty inspiring for me, honestly.
05. Reiji Akaba
And we enter Top 5, starting off with Reiji, who is frankly the trickiest character for me on this list. Unlike many people I know I didn’t ever think of him as an evil or dettached rival, because of... His scarf. Yes, his stupid gravity defying-scarf. Red symbolizes heroism in many Japanese shows, so I had the hunch that Reiji would end up acting nicer than he did at the beginning of show. And boy, did he. He’s an incredibly compelling and well-rounded character who is a clear contrast to Yuya’s bright entertainment, and he expresses his emotions in a very subtle way. He’s an unexpected rival who subverts tropes left and right, just like the protagonist; and while it’s clearly a case of the “I Had To Grow Up Too Early” trope, it’s executed so brilliantly well that you can’t help feel sorry for him, even if you don’t particularly like him. ...Which was actually what happened to me, I barely cared for him in my first watch of the show... And then I loved him and suddenly he was in my top favorites. He’s so great.
04. Sawatari Shingo
I’ll say it right from the go, I didn’t ever think a character of Shingo’s type could get me so interested. From the beginning of the show I saw him as Yuya’s ‘rival’ in a purer sense of the word than Reiji; they’re both Entertainment Duelists and have a more direct confrontation in the championship’s Action Duel. But that’s all he really was to me, another showcasing of Entertainment and a fun character to see when he was on screen, nothing else. And yet I found myself taking a deep liking to him when he finally tried to steer his own path; despite being a loud, kind-of comedy relief character if the situation requires for it (somewhat akin to Jounouchi in DM, perhaps), at the same time he’s a quite talented Duelist who enjoys pulling a crowd’s attention towards him. He wants to impress people and that’s something I could relate to in a very intimate way, as much as I preferred Yuya’s ideology. And he grew so much during the BB Arc with Crow too, it was so cute.
Tied for 3rd spot - Yuto and Yuzu Hiragi
Aka... I tried really, really hard to pick one... But I had to give up. Sometimes I say Yuto’s 3rd and Yuzu 2nd and some other days it’s the other way around, and then sometimes I straight up can’t decide. Like today.
I wasn’t big on Yuto at first at all. He did intrigue me, especially because thanks to him we were introduced to the same-face plot that set off the whole Standard arc in the first place, though that was it. I thought he was cool, a character you can appreciate if he comes up with screen, but don’t actively think of outside of that. Broodingly dark characters tend to piss me off unless they quickly grow on me, which probably added to me not feeling very interested in either him or Shun at the beginning of the show; even with that, I appreciated his rather calm and pacifist nature in comparison to his partner...
And then Episode 37 happened and I was completely thrown off the charts. His desire to bring smiles to people and to not hurt anyone anymore to the point of refusing to attack Yugo pulled at my heartstrings, and I’m a complete sucker for self-sacrificing characters, so when he protected Yuya at the expense of his own soul and entrusted that desire onto him... I was sold. His influence is rather subtle but shows passionately many times, and I found myself falling in love with his character despite the lack of screentime and dubious characterisation that every XYZ character suffers from; I think he’s the best one out of the trio in that matter, though. And his interactions with Yuzu, Ruri and Yuya are so sweet; overall he’s just a character I can find myself easily toying with and I love his role in the show.
What can I say about Yuzu? She’s my favorite female lead from all YGO series. I found her rather annoying but cute during the first... Ten or so episodes. And then I fell in love with her because holy damn, she’s such an amazing character. She actually Duels, has a beautiful and kickass deck and is deeply involved in the plot from start to end (which is already more than can be said for the other shows), not to mention she’s such an inspiring role model. Yuzu always actively worked to improve herself and it’s refreshing to see her be so open with her feelings and caring for people. She’s so strong and I really enjoyed all the bonds she had with the rest of the cast — when you had half of them going through hell and back to help her, it felt legitimately heartwarming and believable, because she always does her best to forge a connection with people and isn’t afraid to say what she thinks.
She felt like one of the most human characters in the show for me, as her best strength was the power of encouraging and inspiring other people (Yuya, Serena, Yugo just to name a few) rather than being unbeatable or not being allowed to fail. She’s everything and more I could hope from a female lead and she inspires me everyday.
01. Yuya Sakaki
*falls to the ground and sobs*
I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this precious ball of sunshine. Anime protagonists are always without fail a 50/50 chance for me, I either love them with all my soul or I hate them and I’m 200% more invested in other characters. Yuya (un)surprisingly fell into the first category from the very first episode, he’s so adorable and seeing him go on a journey to leave behind his years of bullying and depression and turn into someone he can be proud of is hands down the most inspiring thing in this series.
He genuinely makes me so happy and his character development is the very thing that made me invested in ARC V in the first place, I will never get enough of what an amazing and compelling protagonist he is. His attitude of trying to stay happy and make the people around him happy as well, but ultimately falling victim to his own emotions and crashing hard against reality is so brutally and openly real that my heart aches just from thinking of it. I’ve learned with him as I watched the show; as an audience we experienced the same happiness, sadness and pain that he went through, and I’m so proud of him for getting so far and never giving up despite all the odds always being against him.
He’ll always hold a special place in my heart, he’s so important to me and I’m just really glad he exists!
#arcvanniversary#ygo arc v#yugioh arc v#arc v#long post#i did not mean for this to turn into a essay but once i start talking about this cast i can't stop for a solid 20 minutes so

Thanks to @the-cryptographer, for tagging me for this ship meme~
1) Ultimate OTPs:
Prideshipping and Rivalshipping make my heart glow like no others.
2) A ship you’ll always 💜??
I shipped Daisuke and Ken from Digimon 02 before I even understood what shipping was. Ken Ichijouji and Seto Kaiba were the two characters I gravitated to back then; that YGO and Kaiba stayed a constant for me while Digimon faded away probably speaks to YGO having the stronger cast and story (for myself anyway). But I still have warm nostalgia for Dai/ken.
It’s hard for me to imagine ever falling away from Pride and Rival. They’re special ships to me, and I’ve been using them for escapism for quite a while now. If Dai/ken was my nascent ship, Prideshipping was my first true ship.
It took a while for me to get into shipping, because shipping in the YGO fandom used to be kind of a cringefest. But when I did fall for Pride, I fell very hard and very fast. A few years later I fell for Rivalshipping, though much more gradually. But now I’d say both are about equally lovely to me, in their own ways. Trust/shipping has stuck around in my heart too, but in a more quiet way.
3) Current obsessions??
I’m fixated on YGO because I’m weird. Otherwise, obsession is much too strong of a word. I’ve been browsing the Ryo/kira tags on Tumblr and Pixiv lately. As in Ryo and Akira from Devilman. ::spoilers for a 45-year-old manga:: More so than canon or actual romance, I think I like the ideas swirling inside their relationship. That Satan fell in love with a human, and in his quest to destroy mankind was doomed to also destroy the one he loved. (All the while, if things had been different, maybe Akira could’ve loved him back.) The manga is messy as heck, but that ending had honest poignancy.
A lot of morally ambiguous and ambiguously gay characters can thank Ryo Asuka for their existence, for the better or the worse. (Given Ryo Bakura was named after him as well, and the YGO manga makes a point of contrasting Ryo’s complete disinterest in women with the others acting like horndogs, I do wonder if maybe KT wrote Ryo as a gay man.)
4) A ship you never thought you’d like??
Uh… I got nothing. But I’m happy I dragged you into the Prideship zone, DeLurk. It’s more fun having you here with me.
5) A ship you used to like but don’t anymore:
I got nothing.
6) A ship that should be canon??
I’m with you on Madoka and Homura from PMMM. I don’t even ship those two myself, but the writers are so clearly trying to have their cake and eat it too with them. Nanoha and Fate from MGLN are in the same boat, where the writers refuse to make canon what seems to be canon, for the sake of homophobic plausible deniability.
With YGO, I don’t think any ship should’ve become canon, including my own beloved ships. I’m kind of glad KT has been so hands-off with shipping too.
It was in looking over discussions of ambiguous gay themes in shonen and seinen manga series that I really had to come to the conclusion it was a deliberate choice on the writer’s part to leave DSoD open to the interpretation that Seto has romantic feelings for Atem, while also very decidedly not being canon. They knew they would be inviting that interpretation. I also think it’s incredibly naïve to believe content creators are unaware of shipping culture. But even then, I don’t want Prideshipping to be canon. I can see how precious other ships are to other fans, and I know how important that kind of escapism can be. This isn’t a Homura/Madoka situation where one character is blatantly in love with the other. People will see a special rivalry or friendship between Seto and Atem, and that’s lovely too. My primary reading of the film is one of grieving, fractured bonds, and ultimately friendship. Just don’t tell me they hate each other. You really weren’t paying attention at all if you think that.
7) A canon ship you hate???
A lot of the time, I have little interest in canon ships. I remember finding Harry and Ginny in the HP books bland, most romance films do nothing for me, etc. I think series where romance isn’t a focus allow for more complex and prolonged character interactions, and that’s why shipping characters from those series can feel so much richer than canon romance stories.
8) A ship you shipped for years??
Pride, Rival, Trust. You know.
I’ll have gentle bouts of adoration for Dai/ken, Vegeta and Bulma of DBZ, and for Kyoko and Sayaka of PMMM too.
9) A ship everyone 😍 but you don’t care for?
If it’s not a ship I like, then it’s a ship I don’t care for. I’m not someone to have NOTPs though (unless we’re talking about something like Adopt). I’m very ship-and-let-ship. Just enjoy your ships.
10) Favorite rare pair???
It’s from a series without a fandom. Near nonexistent content.
---
I don’t think I’ll tag anyone today, but thank you for reading.

I’m working on various posts:
The romantic relationships in 5Ds and GX— meaning characters who like one another regardless of whether it’s returned and are consistently reoccurring. I have a few hang ups with most of them, and I’ve always wanted to talk about them. Hoping that it’s not misunderstood as me taking shots at anyone. I just wanna air my grievances with a lot of the writing as I analyze them all.
Kaiba’s strange relationship with Kisara and the BEWD. Again, I have some problems with the writing and really want to discuss these.
Writing decisions made when crafting Kaiba and Atem’s relationship that lend to different takes on their dynamic.
Possibly, a post on the writing of different female leads in the franchise and how Kotori is the most disappointing one thanks to Yoshida while the lead Sevens girl (I’ve forgotten her name already lord help me) has my least favorite design. (Can’t comment on writing as I haven’t watched Sevens). Also, definitely stuff about how often people bash Anzu or use her for terrible NSFW.
Maybe more Kingdom Hearts posts since this blog isn’t just for YGO.
And a post about various Kaiba fans who vary in toxicity, including homophobes who project onto him and abuse Kisara’s character.

Do you ever just hnnhh wanna add things to a post you made? Considering Duel Links already had the sharkbaity scene with Shark acting like it’s a crime for Yuma to smile and be happy, I wonder what else Duel Links will have that’s pretty gay. It could really live up to the Zexal anime in that degree.
On a different note, Shark is pretty much written as a tsundere. Male tsunderes are rare, and Shark basically fits the notes to be one.
While he isn’t cartoonishly mean to Yuma purely from liking him, he does treat him a particular way in his rudeness. He wants to be his friend, but pushes him away quite a bit (as he believes he’s too dangerous for Yuma’s safety).
When presented with others gushing over or simply praising Yuma (like the teacher does when comparing him to the sun), Shark maintains his cool and seemingly careless facade. Only to then in private, show a soft side and fondly think or speak of Yuma. Rio has said he talks about the other boy all the time. He also doesn’t express this fondness so directly until the near end of the series where he gushes to Yuma in the middle of a duel.
In said duel, he uses a line like “worming your(read:Yuma’s) way into everyone’s hearts.”
When Yuma expresses joy and wants to be affectionate towards him for his overt moments of kindness, Shark gets aggressive, denies it, will even curse at him, and even blushes (like in Duel Links).
He constantly turns away from Yuma when deep down, he deeply desires to protect the boy as clearly evidenced multiple times in the show.
More than once, Shark can be seen not-so-subtly staring at Yuma from a distance. One time it’s focused on by the camera. The next, he’s sat in the background, watching the other very closely. It almost feels like a different display of his literal watchfulness.
He puts up a huge tough guy act that’s not even how he’s always been. Underneath it, he’s got a certain softness and need to protect anyone he truly cares about.

RGG: Majima and Toxic Masculinity
It's really not like the writers themselves try desperately hard to force the audience to see Majima Goro as a totally heterosexual and completely straight acting man. However, some circles of the audience haven't gotten the memo and will harshly defend the honor of a man who's not real. As much as I've easily come across those that are accepting and fans that are queer themselves, I've also crossed paths with loud bi/homophobes who try to attack or pester those that don't see him the same way they do. In truth, I've never seen such a large concentration of people who are starkly against the notion that a fictional character could be bisexual or gay. (With a concerning amount of people who seem to outright refuse to believe bisexuality is even a viable orientation. He must be one or the other). And as I stated at the beginning, the writers aren't giving him a new girl every game. He's had less romantic interests of the opposite sex than Kiryu- a very un-horny man who's had at least four(or five) if you want to include his place in spinoff games Kenzan and Ishin.
It's nothing new to any fandom (and it's nothing new for me to bring it up), but it can still be upsetting and frustrating to watch bigoted people parade around a specific character in a series you enjoy. All while claiming they know them better than anyone else. I go through this with Sora from Kingdom Hearts who's another character that isn't exactly the poster child for traditional masculinity, and other characters of that specific variety.

So, there’s normally an obligatory scene of the protag holding the rival after they lost a particularly grueling duel (or vice versa or something similar with two other characters instead). In Zexal, Yuma does it to Kaito if I’m not mistaken, but with Shark...?
There’s this scene after Yuma is presumably trying to hug him after Shark is caught doing something nice and caring for him. But Ryoga is trying to literally run away from it. Though questions have been raised about why he’s only holding Yuma’s face back.
And then there’s another scene after Shark suffers a defeat. Yuma is running towards him, and for some reason Shark just dramatically turns over, getting on all fours to totally hide his face.
I just. What. Shark what are you trying to do. I have so many questions about both moments.

It’s both amazing (in a non-positive way) and pretty sad what the Kingdom Hearts and YGO fandoms have in common with each other.
There’s one side of both fandoms teeming with homophobes ready to leave hateful comments on gay content of any sort.
This was on an image of a gay pairing. I included the first one since I view it as an unnecessary statement to make, especially when the pairing they bring up hasn’t actually been canonized. The second one does the same thing. The bottom two are not only disgusting for the first portion of what they said, but also because they dare to tack on a compliment. It’s incredibly backhanded. “I find the content horrific, but it’s so pretty lol.” Don’t do things like this. Another common comment is “This ruined my childhood.”

For the yugioh ask meme - 9, 13, 18, 23, 31!
Thank you!! 9 and 13 got answered already. In my ‘ask’ tag if you’re interested x’)
18. A random headcanon
Ah, I have so many at this point, lol. A lot of them really kind of spring up in the process of writing fic, andwhat I think makes sense and carries weight for that story so *shrugs*
There are some things I more or lessaccept as permanent facets of the characters, hmm:
Things about how Jounouchi’sgang life with Hirutani went, and how it ended. And how Jounouchi feels aboutthat, and how Honda helped and encouraged him in this huge way that Jounouchi couldn’t even acknowledge at the time and still struggles with acknowledging during canon. Experimental sexual encounter with Honda inmiddle school is also one of a few things about Jounouchi’s sexual history that’skind of permanently burned into my brain at this point as something that definitely happened.
Things about how Seto’s relationshipwith Gouzaburou went. I guess you could say I’ve crafted headcanons about how andfor what purpose Gouzaburou intended to mold Seto, and how and where heundermined his own motivations, but still ultimately succeeded. heh, I keepimagining Gouzaburou sitting on a recliner in hell, watching Seto build andopen Death-T and just shaking his head with such disdain. “What is all this? A death theme park? How is this going to monetiseproperly? How is this going to sustain Kaiba Corp? Seto. Seto. Papa taught youbetter than this~”And Seto’s just like, “fuckyou, I can build a death theme park and wear belts on my arms and piss awayyour whole estate and die penniless in a ditch if I want to – you can’t stopme.”Caught between a rock and a hard place, Seto. If you succeed at lifeand work you’ll only be doing what your abuser wants, but if you fail you’llonly be miserable. It’s your choice, with only your life on the line here :v
And, I guess Yami Malik not beinggone from Malik’s psyche post-canon is a headcanon? going from what canon’s seemingintent is in how it presents the end of Battle City, I think we’re meant to thinkthat Yami Malik is and Malik’s hateful feelings are gone(?) But I’m not surehow seriously anyone takes that? idk, I certainly don’t take it seriously.
None of these are fun headcanons, lol. idk, it can be a headcanon that Mai comes into town and treats everyone todim sum, right? Just imagine the whole gang eating dim sum. Imagine Jounouchiand Honda and Shizuka having a chopstick battle over the last shrimp dumpling. And then continuing to fight, over the gai lan this time, even though Honda doesn’t even like it.
31. Favorite duel
Isis vs Seto. It’s just… socathartic, omg. I have so many feelings about what this duel meant for both thecharacters. I like how it really ricochets through Seto’s fears and hubris anddownfall and resurrection, against Isis’s stony and completely assuredconfidence that they are utterly powerless. And how Seto ultimately believes inthe power of something more personal and connecting than just raw strength, andhow that becomes the power to decide your own destiny. It’s just- very good.
The Atem vs Seto duel from Duellist Kingdom, and the Atem vs Mai duel are second and third runners up.
23. NOTP
Ah, I still don’t really think I have any? I have prettynarrow preferences regarding a number of ships, but there’s not really anythingI think in abstract I’m really never up for seeing some portrayal of? In termsof ships I see regularly enough on trips around tumblr and fanfic land that I’mkind of full of mixed feelings on… the rest is under the cut:
I can’t say I find myself super interested in Atem/Yuugi. I don’t reallyunderstand myself, but I’ve even kind of been randomly and viscerally squicked at times byportrayals of them kissing or preforming sex acts on one another (as opposed topreforming sex acts on someone else in each other’s general vicinity, lol).Which is really bizarre, since I’m a big fan of emblematik’s fic and own agrand total of one R18 doujin about them. So, idk, there’s nothing objectionable about it in the slightest. But I seem to heavily preferAtem and Yuugi being platonic in most cases for some reason?
I’m also not really fond of the vast majority of Ryou/YamiMalik interpretations. I’m not really that fond of Yami Malik in a completelyseparate body and as a completely separate entity that’s not at all amanifestation of Malik prime’s emotional needs (or vice versa, really). I kindof consider Malik and Yami Malik a package deal, so I’m not really especiallykeen on seeing one ship dealt with in absentia of the other. And, even if I was,I kind of think Malik and Yami Bakura are better developed characters that canbe used to cover a lot of the messy Ryou ship dynamics, well, better. But- I really, reallylike (platonic or nonplatonic) angstshipping, and I do consider (platonicor nonplatonic) Ryou/Yami Malik a facet of that. A facet that can reap reallyinteresting results. And so I want to see a lot more of Ryou and the Maliks butmaybe not in the way I see the fandom usually be about them.
And, idk, it seems like I’ve had a lot of salty af feelingsabout Isis/Mai. I don’t know. I am (1) very overly invested in Mai being reallytraumatised by Yami Malik’s behaviour towards her, (2) very overly invested inMalik being held accountable as (at the very least) complicit in Yami Malik’sbehaviour, (3) very overly invested in Mai being allowed to never forgive Malikever, and (4) very overly invested in Isis and Rishid being there to supportMalik and be on his team basically regardless of how bad he’s fucked up ateverything ever. These four points feed right into so much that I love aboutBattle City and DOMA, and somewhere in them is a pretty big conflict ofinterest that kind of prevents Isis/Mai and Mai/Rishid from not being superfucked up on some level. And, idk, I don’t really see a lot of super fucked upportrayals of them? Which is fine, I guess? I think my four points up there areperhaps overly specific readings of the text? But they all kind of lead me tohaving a kneejerk reaction against the ships bc my insect brain goes: ‘this ispressuring a woman to get over her abuse and pretend it didn’t happen’. Whichis something I’m familiar as with per my personal life, which is kind ofuncomfortable. Which makes me want desperately to read a Isis/Mai fic aboutgaslighting, and them dealing with dissimilar approaches to their own abuserecovery and erroneously expecting the other to be on the same page, and eventually beingable to understand each other and knowing their relationship needs a lot of distancein places and that’s sad but it still might be something worth holding onto? SoI guess I’m back to shipping it again, except I have to write it myself orsomething, idk.(except i also understand that everyone i unabashedly ship Maiwith is a tiny baby and that has its own potential problems – just ones ihaven’t had to live with? idk, why doesn’t ygo canon have any passionate,hot-blooded adult people i want to ship Mai with? Vivian, you are my onlysalvation.)
idk, I don’t like Mokuba/Shizuka either. except it might befine if somebody convinced me Mokuba and Shizuka could connect on a meaningfullevel that wasn’t just ‘making JouKai drama happen’. and i don’t likeHonda/Shizuka either. except i do like it, because I like Honda/Otogi/Shizukatriad. except I’ve never read any Honda/Shizuka by itself that wasn’t justuncomfortably assuming that Shizuka would get with Honda and not dealing withthe fact that Honda is an entitled lying liar who should question just what it ishe feels entitled to, and why. andwhat kind of relationship he’ll be participating in, and why. smh.
And I have a hard time seeing Atem being attracted to Anzuin canon, so I’m not big on shipping them, but it wouldn’t drive me away fromsomething either? Anzu/Atem: why not? and i used to feel sort of ‘why not?’ but not super interested inAtem/Kaiba. but then I gotangry at antishippers and then I talked to rainstormcolors too much, and now Ikind of ship it. Except I still get the feeling that most people who ship itaren’t really looking for the same dynamic in it that I’m really looking for.Which is, when I think about it, the exact same problem I have with JouKai(except slightly less bad, bc JouKai is much trashier). So I’ve done a 180degree turn here from notp problems to otp problems because for me they are thesame problems. always the same problems.
ETA: Itoccurs to me I probably could have added Seto/Shizuka to this list. Myunderstanding of Seto is that he’s someone who wouldn’t be at all compassionateabout her no-money, abuse, and disability problems. And my understanding ofShizuka is that she’s someone that would take that keenly to heart in arelationship. But, oh noes, once more I have read at least one fic for thisship that I liked. And I kind of like the idea of fucked up Season Zero Seto/Shizuka a lot too ;_;
Thank you again for the ask x)

Honouring my childhood Part 2 - A Live Reaction
Not ML related, as with *Part 1*
*Spoilers inbound for YGO Dark Side of Dimensions (duh) as I watch it and reaction with pictures. I love pictures.
As with anything that does not have subtitles, excuse what I don’t hear properly, or not at all. Though seriously, what is up with dub being first? Not that I mind, hell, I get to see this movie!!!
I hope that there are scenes I pray for. Like, you know, Atemu coming back, that’ll be grand.
Anyways, Onwards!
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW KAIBA BUILT A SPACE ELEVATOR?! I guess I have two hours for this movie to explain it. (Wanna explain why he has the Puzzle as well?)
I can’t see my house from there, internet lies.
Look at all the pretty gold particles. Cute. But why? There’s a need apparently. Are we suffering from something? The logo does gold particles as well.
Ah. Egypt. That’s Ceremonial site. Are they...? Oh god WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!
Kaiba. You understand and know the Gods exist...Yet--- Hell! Who CARES! Let’s go ahead and desecrate this place! NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG!
BABY PANDA ALERT! Holy crap he’s grown. O_o
Tea? Who’s--? *second later* RIGHT! English. English names. Holy crap.
RUN LITTLE BABY PANDA RUN! Don’t be late for school!! --And get distracted by a cat. Nah, that’s cool. -_-
I have nothing to say for this, but holy crap I keep calling her Anzu, and expect them to call her Anzu. Whoops.
Height. Little height difference. Wow.
Anzu: sorry I kept you waiting. Yuugi: You didn’t! That might be because you’re late too, doofus!
IT’S THE BOYS! Well, one of them, at least. Still haven’t changed duel discs, huh?
Did I just hear a non-name Japanese word? In a 4Kids movie?! Jou tried!
Officer: Don’t you know the speed limit! Jou: Nope! Going too fast! Probably means you’re going too fast, rofl XD
Bakura has fans? Okay then.
CAN NO ANIME BE WITHOUT THE MAIN PEOPLE BEING LATE TO SCHOOL?! >_> They made it by their skin!
The hell are they eat--- RICE BALLS IN A 4KIDS MOVIE!
Don’t make me cry, Baby Panda! You’re starting to act/look like Atemu! Cute. But sad.
I have no words for what the hell is going on here.
Duelling is apparently a way to make money.
Math teach apparently took Jou’s duel disc last week. But he had it on his bike that morning. O_o? Confused.
Yuugi wants to create his own games. Naw. Those who haven’t read the manga / watched season 0 have no clue why.
Anzu, if you say “believe in your friends” one more time, I will find a way to hurl you off a bridge.
The hell is going on with the group’s memory? They can’t remember the Egyptian kid. Uh-oh. Never good. Spending time on this means bad stuff will happen.
RUN KIDS RUN! THE TEACH IS HERE!
Jou got his duel disc back. ‘Kay then.
BABY PANDA IS SAD!! NO!!! DON’T BE SAD! Yuugi: Just thinking back. ‘Bout Him. Anzu: You mean Atem? Damn it I’m crying now. +1 for name dropping. Yuugi: Sorry! Forget I said anything! Jou: It’s okay! You guys shared a connection. Gay. Jou: Totally makes sense you miss him sometimes. Yuugi: Not sometimes. ALL the time. So gay.
Yuugi: You left us. You left me. Forever. T_T
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BRING UP THE LAST DUEL, DAMN IT MOVIE! YOU DO NOT NEED TO BRING UP THE LAST DUEL, DAMN IT MOVIE! (But daaaayum those graphics looking good XD) There goes the Puzzle, and dat shinny particle effect again.
Whelp. Aigami, or however you spell his name is getting the ever-loving crap beaten out of him. And at times like that I remember Jou used to be in a gang rofl. My hot film on bullying? Seriously? Jou can jump off bridges and not kill himself. But remembered to bring his duel disc with him rofl. He knows better by now! Where’d he leave his bike?
And Aigami is creeping me out he legit looks at Yuugi and goes You! You’re Yuugi! In a darker voice than a second ago. Creepy.
If he sends people to the Shadow Realm, I quit.
KAIBA HAS A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY AND IT HAS A LITTLE BLUE EYES WEARING A HARDHAT!!!!!
And you showed up Aigami...why?
Aigami is laughing. That’s creepy. Stop laughing!! God damn it he’s gonna send people to the Shadow Realm, isn’t he? Guess we can’t have a YGO movie without Shadow Realm being a thing. Excuse you, where’d you pull out a CUBE THAT HAS THE EYE OF WEDJAT ON IT FROM?! Answers! I need answers. He has purple followers. And they’re all dead. 4Kids! well done! GOLD PARTICLES EXPLAINED! It’s what the people dying leave behind. IS THE SCENE FROM THE LEAKED PART! I remember I screamed so much seeing Atemu Kaiba said something about making sure his hair was right. Gay. And he fired whoever made the bottle.
Mokuba found the pieces of the Puzzle. THIS IS A GOOD THING, WHY?!
I don’t wanna be a furry.
This scene - aka where the main characters learn the movie plot with the help of a news article, while Furry prances around in the background.
Bakura is scared of fangirls.
Kaiba likes broadcasting he has events coming up, huh?
HOLY CRAP, JOU IS THE FURRY!!!
*dies of laughter* throwback, much? XD
They lose their power over the whatever it's called if Atemu decides to not be dead. Kay. That means he can come back! WOOHOO! Master Shin is a cultist. Aigami can activate hieroglyphics. Children moving around by phasing is creepy. ...Who’s in Domino? Who is he talking about?! Yuugi? He’s looking at Yuugi. Uh-oh.
Kaiba still flys around in a toy plane.
And can apparently jump out of said toy plane without breaking his legs.
I have a bad feeling about this.
YOU DON’T NEED TO KEEP REMINDING ME WHAT HAPPENED IN THE LAST EPISODE, MOVIE!
Kaiba senses a disturbance in the force. He...wants to reassemble it. Mokuba: It took Yuugi eight years! Kaiba: That’s because he’s a simple minded child. And he was getting beaten to death on a regular basis. But whatev. (YOU’RE THE SAME AGE AS HIM!)
The disturbance is Aigami. Not good. Totally not good. ...How does Kaiba know his other name? Um. They’re gonna fight over the Puzzle? Shouldn’t Yuugi get a say in this? Apparently not. THERE’S AN ACTUAL GUN IN THIS MOVIE! NOT A DRILL! This series has come so far. Whelp. Purple kids are back. And that guy is dead. Kaiba doesn’t give a frak. Knew digging the Items was a bad idea. DO NOT TAKE KAIBA! HOLY SHIT! WHAT?!
O_O --- Nevermind he played a trap of Blue Light, or something that sends Purple Kids back. I don’t know why I was ever worried about you. Aigami: I cannot let you resurrect the Pharaoh. We established we know he has a name. Use it! Kaiba: Please. You can’t stop me. wow. Look at that ego fly. LET’S DUEL. The cube thing is a duel disc. Okay then. Hi there gaping hole of doom in the ceiling. Those are never good. Dimension Summon. Okay then. AKA Let’s scream our hearts out to beef up our monsters. Aigami’s monsters that have weird names that I can’t hear have a lot of eyes that don’t belong in places. And Kaiba summons dragons. That rust. Uh-oh. Dimension Summon all the Blue Eyes. It doesn’t work. Great. Cube this, Cube that. It’s all math to me. Buh-bye dragons. Kaiba: This isn’t how it ends! Not after everything I’ve done. Not when I’m so close to reviving him! Gay. Whelp, Kaiba’s as good as---
EXCUSE YOU, WHAT?! HI THERE, OBELISK WHO DOESN’T HAVE A CARD! Dem cards went out with Atemu, apparently. Aigami: Your monsters can’t use their special abilities! Kaiba: It’s not monster. It’s a GOD. No explanation. It’s just there rofl. Oops. Time’s up. Security is done. Imma take a piece. LOL. MOKUBA USE HEADPUNCH! It’s super effective! Leaving now.
Did you leave a piece behind? The hole is glowing --- O_O that’s the Ring! Mani or whatever your name is, don’t touch that!
The hell did Jou make is on the blimp? It’s not a pillow rofl. Kaiba isn’t your pillow either. (Subtle ship reference?) These guys are apparently graduating? Okay then. Honda needs tissues. Aigami has two pieces, gives one to his sister, so Atemu won’t come back. Kay then, still have hope that Atemu can come back. Aigami you wanna do WHAT?! Take out Yuugi?! There’s one way to anger a person who might as well be a god.
YUUGI, DO NOT GO NEAR HIM! -- Why are we bowling? RED EYES sighting! DON’T GIVE HIM DUELING TIPS!
Still don’t get how the space elevator works. Or why there is a need. Whelp, another duel tournament incoming. I’m sure there’s some highly advanced science that makes this space elevator work, but I’m not sciencey. Yuugi took eight years. Kaiba takes five hours, with a machine. Cheater.
Aigami’s with Bakura and Jou. Bakura just mentioned his father. This won’t end well. DON’T MENTION EGYPT! Aigami: Tell me more. Eeep. Don’t die. DO NOT KILL THEM!
Where’s grandpa going? Yuugi isn’t wearing his school uniform! PUZZLE BOX! It’s also a relic that Egyptians use for containing their shadows after the Pharaoh’s go to the afterlife. But you know. Egyptian stuff. Atemu’s shadow is always with Yuugi. Naw. Creepy. But AAAWWW.
I think they changed Mahadoo’s card. Don’t like it. Miss the purple. WHERE THE HELL DID SERA COME FROM?! Girl, it’s not a golden box. It’s a Shadow Box. I legit just explained this rofl. And Yuugi keeps his precious duel cards in it. NAAAW! Sera! You can’t just randomly say you know about the Pharaoh, (HE HAS A NAME GOD DAMN IT!) and not expect Yuugi not to react! Whoa, whoa, whoa, WHOA! Shin = Shadi?! ARE WE SERIOUS?! Apparently. Imma take you on a soul journey, brb. You’re used to these, right? -_- And I’ll explain this movie to you. Give me subtitles god damn it. AKA if we don’t do something, everyone is going to die. Whoopie. Yuugi! You’re my only hope! And she’s gone. SHE JUST GAVE HER PUZZLE PIECE TO HIM! I know that bing anywhere!
Kaiba, you know you’re speaking to a computer, right? BAKURA NO! Leave Bakura alone! He’s been through enough! (I swear he keeps saying placenta. But I doubt that.) ....where’s Jou? O_o Jou’s gone! JOU COME BACK! YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED TO DISAPPEAR!
Yuugi on a motorbike alert.
Didn’t know I needed that!
*screaming*
Aigami’s laugh is scary. Aigami: This place only exists as long as your memories do. We’ve gone into the Kingdom Hearts universe!!! RUN, JOU, RUN!!! KEEP RUNNING FROM THE DOOM HOLE THING!
Aigami: Farewell.
*cries*
BAKURA NO! NO MEMORY OF YAMI BAKURA! THAT’S A BAD! Fear turn into hate? Hate leads to suffering. Shadi is Yoda. Bakura’s dad was hurt/killed(?) by Yami Bakura and Shadi was killed by Yami Bakura. (Did this dude ever have a name?)
Baby Evil Bakura with a British accent is scary. Also Why So Serious?!
Okay, now is Aigami gonna let Bakura explain, or nah? Going with nah.
Tears help? Still going with nah. Or maybe not. Cube isn’t glowing anymore.
JOU!!! JOU! RUN! RUN!!!! DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS BE DREAMS! DON’T FALL!!!
MANI TOUCHED THE RING! BAD MANI! DOWN! Goes straight for Bakura, of course he does-_-. And he drops him! FIGHT THE RING! Oh jeez, never mind, he’s dead. A lot of people are dying in this film! Applaud! Aigami don’t touch the ring! - Hello Yuugi screaming for Jou. Everyone’s gonna die.
WELL, SHIT! I DIDN’T ACTUALLY MEAN IT! HOLY CRAP! Bing? There’s a BING! I KNOW THAT BING!
EXCUSE YOU, WHAT?!
And he’s SAFE! Now we just gotta worry about Bakura. Aigami split. ...Are we gonna mention that Jou saw Atemu? No? (FUCK!) It’s just HAS to rain!! Whelp. Kaiba caught up to Aigami, with an impressive show of private police force. Kaiba isn’t doing his usual job of “this all magic mirrors and bullshit” and goes with the whole “I understand this is magic” Wow. Kaiba you move fast!
Yuugi: What are you doing here?! Kaiba: Good to see you too, Yuugi. LOL! No buts, take part in my tournament. Now.
Screw the rules, I completed the Puzzle! (Yuugi reacts appropriately) Yuugi: How did you get it!? Kaiba: That’s not important. Um. Yes. YES IT IS! THAT’S VERY IMPORTANT! DUDE! HOW DO YOU KNOW YUUGI HAS THE PUZZLE PIECE?! Yuugi: What are you after?! Kaiba: What I’ve always been after. I’m the greatest. You WILL wear the puzzle, and you WILL summon him! Then I WILL defeat him! I know you want to see him too. Where did the “I don’t believe in this magic bullcrap” Kaiba go?! XD! This whole scene is gay! XD
IS IT SUCH A GOOD IDEA TO LET AIGAMI DUEL JUST BECAUSE HE HAS THE OTHER PIECE?! Such questions. No answers. At least Kaiba is consistent with what he wants, at least. -_- The fuck did the shadow box get HERE?! IT’S GETTING WET! (lol) CARS! CARS! WATCH OUT FOR THE CARS! DON’T LET THEM FLATTEN THEM BOX, DAMN IT! WAIT! I TAKE IT BACK! DON’T GET HIT YOUR-SELF! DON’T YOU DARE DIE ON ME YUUGI!!! THAT’S A TRUCK HEADING STRAIGHT FOR YOU! ---And you’re saved, thanks to Sera. OWE HER! Sera: Those who are lost, don’t always need to stay that way. ...Does that work for the Afterlife, too? If so, I’m down for that!
FLASHBACK NO JUTSU! Mokuba the interrogator. Let’s play cat and mouse to who knows more first about who has the last puzzle piece. (THE HELL IS THAT CUBE THING CALLED?! I CAN’T HEAR THE NAME PROPERLY!)
THAT PLANE IS GONNA CRASH---FUCK YOU KAIBA FOR FREAKING ME OUT! DID YOU JUST KILL A MAN TO SHOW OFF BLUE EYES?! There are way too many screens with Kaiba’s face on it. This is going into YGO VR realm. KAIBA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT SHIT!? -_- Of course he is. Kaiba be like I’mma fight Aigami now. And Yuugi is like fuck you, I fight him! (You’ll do anything for a friend, huh? How ‘bout go into the Afterlife, and get Atemu back? That sounds like a good idea. Let’s do that!) Aigami and Yuugi fight? Don’t die, Yuugi please! FUCKING DIMENSION DUELING! AGAIN! Yuugi, crash course, GO! There’s something I didn’t know, Yuugi can scream loud. That can go a lot of ways! LOL. Bah, there are those Cubic Way Too Many Eyes And Weird Names monsters again! Shit! How’s Yuugi gonna far, when Kaiba needed Obelisk?! DON’T KILL YUUGI DAMN IT! GET UP!!! Aigami, if you say your duel monster turned into a God, I will fuck you up sideways. No? Good. Kaiba doesn’t give a shit. Wonder if he knows that if Yuugi fucking dies, Atemu can’t come back. Well, hi there Gaia Knight! YOU DID JACK ALL!!! He’s done to 950LP!! Not good!!! Aigami: If you have any sense, you’ll give up. Yuugi: Then, I must not have a lot of sense. I will never give up! Yuugi, you’re gonna die! DON’T ACCEPT HIS OFFER!!! Yuugi: I’ll never join you. Hi, Star Wars reference. FLASHBACK NO JUTSU AGAIN! FYI, Shadi just killed a man. Did you just summon Osiris--? Nope. (FUCK! That would have been awesome!) Gaia now has a dragon. (Is he saying Planner?! IS THAT THE NAME?!) Yuugi just summoned a sphinx. Legit makes a loop like the one from Waking The Dragons season. Aigami lost! WOW! GIVE BAKURA BACK!! And Aigami’s DEAD?! PUZZLE PIECE! Kaiba still don’t give a shit. BAKURA’S BACK! YAY! Complete the Puzzle, complete the puzzle, complete the puzzle!!! Kaiba: You will bring him back!!! Yuugi: I know how much you want to battle Atem (NAME DROP!!) I do! More than you know!! (IT’S THAT SCENE FROM THE LEAK!!!) Kaiba: If you won’t release him willingly. I’ll just have to force you. Uh, HOW?! And Yugi is duelling. Again. He’s got to tired. Poor Baby Panda. He...He summoned a marshmallow. A pink marshmallow. Um. Okay, Yuugi. Kaiba, predictably, summons a Blue Eyes. Bye blobs of pink. Yo, Mahaado. Kaiba: I look forward to destroying him. Dark, Kaiba. Dark. Yuugi summoned a castle. A FUCKING CASTLE! PUNCH THAT BLUE EYES ALEXANDRA! Kaiba don’t use Atemu’s words without his permission, damn it! ((is “Play Time is over” AKA “sore wa dou kana”?)) Alexandra didn’t last long. Damn. DON’T CRUSH YOUR USER DAMN IT!!! Bye, Mahadoo! You died, as you lived! Yuugi: You haven’t beaten me yet, Kaiba! Because, like Atem (YAY!!!) (DON’T SHOW THAT SCENE!) always taught me: I duel until the end! NAW!!! There’s...there’s an apple flying. Okay. Now it’s like Mana’s sister. Or something. Whut. Kaiba: YOU FIGHT ME WITH FRUIT?! My thoughts exactly. Yuugi made a lemonade joke. MANA!!!!! Buh-bye another dragon. What was like three? Four now? Kaiba: You really hate dragons, don’t you. -_- LOL!! And there’s another dragon. FFS. This guy and his dragons.
(Is it just me or, does this dragon have a Stargate on his back?) Yuugi’s only got 600LP! O_o Not good. Yuugi summoned a dragon. Woohoo! DON’T TAKE THE ARENA WITH YOU! And they’re both no more dragon. Kaiba: Do you see now?! Nothing will get in my way to resurrect the Pharaoh. Yuugi: What if it’s not up to you, or me for that matter? I tried to tell you, but maybe I’ll show you. PUT THOSE PUZZLE PIECES BACK!!! Yes, yes, yes, yes YES!! -clink- What...? Nothing happened. Nevermind! Sup Aigami! Wandering the Shadow---NOT THIS, AGAIN! DON’T TOUCH THAT STUPID RING! Fuck. We’re doomed. Sera: The Pharaoh did not return. Yuugi: He’s gone, Kaiba. Gone forever. I’ve known it deep in my heart since we said goodbye. He’s no longer inside the Puzzle. It’s not easy. It still ISN’T easy! But I had to let him go. And you have to as well. I’m sorry. Well fuck me sideways, I can see that, you don’t need to punch me in the face repeatedly!
Stupid movie. I just want Atemu back, is that too much to ASK?! T_T
And there’s the Kaiba we know! Kaiba: I’ll beat him out of you! Still wondering how that will work, bro. And back to the duel! HEY MAHADOO’S BACK! KAIBA’S DOWN TO 100LP?! Laughing.....There’s laughter. Aigami?! (and the Puzzle drops to the floor. Uh-oh) And we didn’t notice the manic laughing cube, ‘TIL NOW?! IT HAS THE RING SYMBOL ON IT!!!
Not good, not good, not good!!!
Well. I’ll be seeing THAT in my nightmares!
You wanna know what’s coming out of the cube? Nightmare fuel. Mokuba. Nightmare fuel.
Kaiba: Oof. He’s looked better! THAT THING IS GOING TO EAT YOU, AND YOU’RE SASSING IT?! Whelp. Sera’s dead. TAG TEAM DUEL GO!!! More god damn cubic weird eyed monsters! IT’S A FUCKING SHADOW GAME!!? HOLY CRAP NOT GOOD!! Seriously, what is Kaiba’s deal with dragons, aside from Kisara, that is? This one looks like a dragon, but sounds like an elephant! And again with the screams to power up monsters. That didn’t work, bro. Try again. And more cubic monsters. Yay. Lol. Kaiba’s tired of him laughing.
Because I won't’ be seeing this in my nightmares, right? Dark, 4Kids, dark.
HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED SO FAR?! Evil guy: Now which of you will I destroy first? I choose Yuugi! O_O Are we serious?! Kaiba: Oh, no you don’t! Your attack switches to me! Yuugi: You won’t survive this! HOLY SHIT WHAT?! Yuugi: Why did you do that?! Kaiba: Take this. *the puzzle* Bring him back.

Okay, we got progress, Happy Panda Yuugi nodded!

...And he’s gone. And didn’t say anything. What.
Jou: You actually saw him?! You kinda did too, but hey. Yuugi: Yeah! And it was great seeing him again! Would have been better had he talked! Anzu: How’s he doing? Besides being still dead, you mean. Yuugi: Good! He wished us well! HE DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING!!! HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW?!
And they’ve graduated. Whoo.
