for cognitive impairment that stems from malnutrition the most obvious step is to eat sufficiently. and if you are not looking to enter a bodybuilding or weightlifting competition, you do not have to care about macros ever in your life. even fast food is nutritious to a decent extent. if you have been eating properly for a few months already, you can get bloodwork done to see if there is something that still needs a little extra lovin'
exercise is the best thing you can ever do for your body (and your brain) to retain a baseline level of strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health. a bit of walking (or cycling!) outside is already very, very beneficial for your circulation
brains adapt to whatever you are occupying yourself with, so if most thoughts are focused on body image and food, other topics/mental skills will get diminished over time (which also contributes to that feeling of cognitive impairment). i had to actively redirect my focus and get my brain re-acquainted with more complex and constructive thoughts by reading, participating in discussions, solving puzzles, learning new skills etc., and this definitely felt frustrating because i was foggy and slow and i knew it. but brains are awesome and they will submit eventually
