oh it is 100% his whole loneliness thing. growing up i was a chronic friend group hopper all the way from kindergarten to 8th grade and then by high school that didn't work anymore so i just kinda didn't have any genuine friends for basically that entire 4 years. so hyperfixating so hard on a character who's basically completely centered around that struggle helped me feel a bit less hopeless about it. the funny thing is i think pre-undertale papyrus actually had more friends than i did back then but like its the little things

that's why this fic that i'm gonna plug again hit me so hard tbh. shit sucks when you're trying so so hard to be friendly and engage in other people and then you get to a point where you have to realize they're not at all interested in returning the favor, even if they're not overtly rude about it or anything, they just don't care to get to know you any deeper than surface level convenience and it gets real hard to not let yourself get angsty about it lmao

i do think that while sometimes i wish i hadn't been given such free internet access as a kid i'm still really lucky that i was able to be exposed to undertale when i was. it's such a unapologetically hopeful game that i'm sure it absolutely impacted the way that i think about things today in terms of optimism and the ability to turn bad situations around, and papyrus plays a huuuge part of that entire message. if it weren't for him, i'm honestly not sure if i would've had the drive to keep trying to connect with other people even when it didn't work for so long.

so tl;dr thank you funny little skeleton man for constantly reminding me that making friends is still possible even when your demeanor is frankly weird as fuck. sometimes you just gotta keep truckin until you find your people even if it takes a while

So I got asked what my opinion on the Pale King is, and I posted a long rambly rant about it (found here) but I was inspired by seeing one of bluegekk0's asks to want to share my feelings on the White Lady, too.

Ready for a Hot Take? She's the worse parent.

We know for a fact that the White Lady was complicit in every single thing that the Pale King did to stop the Radiance. You can argue about whether or not she believed the vessel plan would work until you're blue in the face and it does not matter: she still went along with it willingly.

We also know that she imprisoned herself out of guilt.

But consider what she has to say when she meets the Knight. She very much nudges it to take its siblings place within the Temple of the Black Egg. She continues to treat the Knight as an unthinking, unfeeling thing, dismissing what happened to Hollow as simply a flaw caused by the Pale King rather than a problem with the vessel plan altogether.

Where the Pale King clearly felt some measure of guilt for what was done to Hollow, White Lady very obviously is detached enough not to care at all. She sees the protag of the game as little more than a means to continue that ends, going so far as to get agitated with Grimm (per her dialogue with Grimmchild) for interfering in that.

Of the two of them, if you are going to criticize someone for being an awful parent, White Lady is arguably the one with less moral scruples about her actions.

Consider this the next time you decide to demonize PK.

This is not me attempting to criticize WL likers, by the way, because I think deep down, this is all a defense/coping mechanism for having done something that she can't live with, that she's in absolute denial about. But she's just as guilty as her husband and in many regards, far less apologetic about it.

still thinking about this actually WE WERE SO ROBBED. this would have given some much needed exposition to dedede's role/motives in sse. i could be wrong but i've always imagined he was trying to defeat and put one of his badges on meta knight like he was doing with the other characters, but he sure picked the worst time to start beef lol. judging by the phrase "unwittingly", i assume he didn't mean for meta knight to lose the halberd, but ultimately meta knight couldn't concentrate on defending his ship when he also had dedede attacking him out of nowhere.

screaming crying and throwing up about lloyd being literally javier's weakness i am not even exaggerating for the bit it is absolutely canon and acknowledged in-universe that the best way to get to javier is through lloyd because if you attack lloyd javier will put himself in harm's way to protect him i hate them so much 😭
