DISAPPEARING ACT . rindou often disappears for weeks at a time, showing up at home as if it's nothing. a brief exchange triggers a factory reset in him, but you're not as open to it as he expected you to be...
prompt used "better than me disappearing for good. / is it?"
with married!rindou + fem!reader
warnings cursing. a lot of cursing. angst? rindou is an idiot and possessive.
part two
you never got to see your husband anymore. so much so that you considered the chance of it happening next to nothing. you knew what you were getting into being in an relationships with him; lots of meetings and flights to other cities all meant extended time away from home.
you would've been a little more forgiving had he chosen to tell you these things. but no. morning after morning, you wake up to him gone without a trace, without consideration for how you feel. was he alive? was he with someone else? did he not care enough to call or even send a text?
it was as if you lived alone, and a stranger crashed at your place every once in a while. and while you shared polite exchanges, no amount of small talk could overshadow how bleak your marriage was.
it was eleven days before he showed up again. you were, surprisingly, awake when he returned. he was perfectly groomed, albeit a little jaded, but still regarded you with the same coldness you endured since he started leaving. you missed the warmth of your younger days, where he would hold you close and reassure you that you were meant for each other for life.
you decided today was as good a day as any. heck, he even might be gone tomorrow and it would be like you didn't say anything.
"i'm tired of you disappearing for days and then coming back like it was nothing." you said plainly.
he slipped out of his shoes, looking down at you. rolling his eyes lightly but sighing heavily, he started to pull off his tie. "better than me disappearing for good."
a wry smile spread on your face. oh, if he only knew. "is it?"
those two words sent an arrow straight through his heart.
rindou was silent, pretending as if he didn't hear what you just said. but when you scoffed and walked away, he knew it was too real for him to overlook.
"you don't mean that." it was less of a question and more of a please, don't mean it.
you shrugged and went back to your phone, too benumbed to even look at him.
he stared at you, utterly confused as to how to tackle this. "y/n." he said firmly.
you slowly raised your head to meet his eyes, void of any care. "what?"
"i said, you don't mean that." he stood like a tree in the middle of the living area, palms growing sweaty. he loved you. he couldn't lose you, not when you both went through so much to get here.
"don't i?" you responded, placing your phone beside you. not like i see you anymore, anyway. what's the difference?
"stop fucking talking like that and answer me." he snarled. you rolled your eyes, rising to your feet.
"look, rin. who the fuck cares what i think or say? certainly not you." you sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. "just—just forget i said anything." you turned towards your bedroom. "goodnight."
wait. he lunged forward, grabbing your arm and spinning you around to face him, backing you against a wall. caging you with arms on either side of you, he stared into your soul, hoping to get some sort of reaction out of you.
you just stared back.
his heart clenched. yeah, he was away for weeks at a time. of course he didn't tell you. why would he? why would he burden you with that information?
"you really think me going away forever is better?" his voice was a whisper, but held the sharpness of a knife. "huh? you want me gone forever?"
you sighed. "i didn't say i wanted that. i just meant that, either way, it doesn't matter. going away forever, going away for weeks and weeks but only staying for a night..." your eyes met his, glossy but fierce. "it's the same to me. i don't care what the hell you do anymore, rindou. just let me go to bed."
he studied the person he truly loved for so long, wondering when it all went downhill.
you were impatient, ducking under his arms. "shit..." you cursed, rubbing the back of your neck as you walked away.
he watched you go. and he never saw you come back.
the next morning he woke up, expecting to see you in the kitchen or watching tv, but his house was empty.
"y/n?" he called out. no answer. he pulled up his phone. no texts, no calls. he bustled around the house, looking for some indication of where you went and he found nothing.
he called his brother, thinking that he was the next best person you would've gone to, but ran had no contact from you.
rindou sat on the couch, nothing to do but sit and wait. he looked around. everything was well-kept, pristine, and sanitized. it was like no one lived here at all. no one except a lonely spouse in an eternal cycle of wait for a husband that wouldn't even give them the time of day to say, i'm heading out.
i love you.
goodbye.
he leaned back, closing his eyes. he doesn't even say goodbye.
he hated himself for it.
hours passed and he didn't move from the couch. he knew you sat there for much longer, day after day, waiting for him. no wonder you were uncaring. coming home meant nothing if he would simply leave again.
then he heard the click of the door. he practically jumped off the couch, racing over to the entrance. he saw you with a couple groceries hooked on your forearms, struggling to keep the door open long enough for you to slip inside.
he rushed over. yanking the door open with such force, it slammed into the wall causing you to jump. rindou winced a little, steadying the door from swinging wildly.
you eyes met his and your face immediately scrunched with confusion. "what are you doing here?"
"well... it's my house..?" he said dumbly.
you pressed your lips into a line. "hm."
you expected me to be gone again, he thought bitterly. he cleared his throat. "let me help you with these," he alleviated the weight off your arms, bunching up a couple bags and carrying them all in one go. "you know, you could just order them for delivery."
you sidestepped him and walked to the kitchen. "why would i do that?"
"so you can have them brought to you from the comfort of your home." he responded lightly. following robotically, he was unsure where everything was supposed to be put away.
you laughed, catching him off-guard. on closer inspection, though, he knew that wasn't a genuine laugh. "rindou, do you think i want to stay in this place any more than i have to?"
you said it so casually, grabbing a bag from him and stocking the cabinets and fridges.
his stomach swirled with much more unease than he'd ever experienced on the job. it was the way you simply didn't care anymore, talking about the rift between you and him as if you were reciting the weather report.
fight me, he wanted to say. kick, yell at me, scream at me, do anything at all to show me you're upset. he knows he fucked up. you definitely know he fucked up. so why weren't you telling him that? why weren't you cursing him out for being a bad husband? your nonchalance came from a long time being cast aside, so much so that you expected it to happen; so much so that you gave up on him.
indifference was the final nail in the coffin of your marriage, and you were about to bang it shut.
he observed you, thinking about how many times you'd busy yourself with mundane errands to feel like you were living. how many times you'd come back to this flat, putting away shit you'd probably never touch. how many times you'd listen to the silence ringing off the walls.
he set the bags down and held your shoulders, turning you to face him. "i've taken the next few days off."
you smiled insincerely. "great."
rindou felt like a kid again, when he had work up enough courage to ask you out. "we... we could spend them together."
your eyes squinted. "why?"
he spluttered. "what do you mean, why?"
you swatted his hands off your shoulders. "god, i shouldn't have said anything," you mumbled. "rindou, this is just you feeling guilty because of what i said last night, okay?"
he frowned. "it's not."
your eyebrows raised as you rummaged through another grocery bag. "it is. don't pretend like you're gonna change. what did you think we were going to do—go out together? like old times, when we were happy and in love?"
his face burned. anyone else—if it were anyone else speaking so flippantly with him, he'd have them beat til they're unconscious. and past tense? when we were in love? his brain was doing backflips trying to find a way to salvage the situation. "yes."
you laughed that fake laugh again. it grated on his ears. "that's funny. i was just feeling a little vulnerable last night, is all. had a couple of drinks and maybe was feeling sentimental about the days when everything was simple."
rindou stepped closer to you, ripping the bag away from your hands and towering over you. "it is simple. we can—"
"we can't do anything." you curled your hands into fists, your voice trembling. "can you just..?" go away?
rindou's breath caught in his chest, fully anticipating another heartless laugh.
he hated it when you cried. he hated it when you were angry. he would do anything for your eternal happiness, he realized, and he'd been falling short of his promises for far too long.
rindou leaned onto the counter, bending at the waist. his hand rested on your waist and his eyes were laser focused on your expression, a confusing mix of frustration, sadness, and the will to remain emotionless.
"baby," he whispered.
"don't fucking call me baby." you hissed.
he pursed his lips, unwilling to compromise. "pretty baby. i don't wanna go on like this." his fingers brushed your cheek. "i don't want to you to be sad anymore."
"well, isn't that righteous." you rolled your eyes though your heart ached. it ached for him, for the boyfriend he was and the husband he promised to be.
he glared at you. "would you just listen?"
"no, rindou." you shoved him away from you, despite the overwhelming urge telling you to pull him in and hug him tight. "stop acting like i'm the one making things difficult. like you're being a fucking saint trying to bring us back together when the only reason we're like this is because of you." your voice became watery, growing in volume as you finally succumbed to all the hurt and pain inside you.
"i tried to be understanding." you sobbed. "i did. i tried. you have your work and i know that it's dangerous. but seriously—you promised you'd make time for me. you promised." you sniffed, rubbing tears off your cheeks, ranting without any goal in mind. "you don't even say goodbye."
he stood frozen, your emotions hitting him square in the face and leaving him dazed. it was like the only thing he could do was stand and watch.
"i didn't want to do this." you said tearfully. "i'm sorry i said anything, okay? i'm sorry. just—leave me alone."
his eyes narrowed. "never. i'm never leaving."
your glassy eyes shot up to meet his with a hard look of their own.
"i love you, y/n. and i'm never letting you go." he said firmly, stepping closer and closer to you. he was done beating around the bush; you should know that no matter how many times you push him away, he will never leave you. he'd make up for his mistakes; all you had to do was give him a chance.
you scoffed. "love? you love me?"
he caged you against the opposite counter with two arms on either side of you. "yeah. i do."
you stared up at him, tears staining your cheeks. "you're a liar."
"y/n." he growled—a warning.
"can't go back into the world having the poor little wife weighing on your conscious, is that it?" you snapped. "never stopped you before."
"y/n."
"no." you ducked under his arm, leaving the kitchen. you evaded his attempts to pull you back, running to the closet. grabbing a coat and your purse, you slipped on your shoes.
"where the fuck are you going?" rindou yelled after you. "this conversation isn't over."
"it is for me." you mumbled, throwing the front door open and ignoring the fire in the pit of your stomach. you got into your car and started it up. the garage opened at an agonizing pace, enough time for rindou to come bursting out the door. he stood at your window.
"y/n, you are not leaving. get out of the car."
"fuck off." you grit your teeth, your eyes raising to the rearview mirror to reverse. you screeched to a halt when you saw rindou's purple hair in the reflection. you gaped, rolling down your window and whipping your head to face him. "are you insane? move!"
he shook his head, standing in all his glory right behind the car. his arms were crossed and his weight rested on one hip; the picture of stubbornness. "you're gonna have to run me over."
you scoffed, laughing breathlessly at the absurd situation. "i'll call the police."
"you won't."
you grabbed your phone. "i will, don't try and stop me from leaving."
"you won't call the police, and you wanna know why?" rindou let his head fall to his shoulder. "you love me. i know you do."
you opened your mouth to retort.
"don't even try to deny it." he chuckled lowly. "you're just protecting yourself, baby. you're protecting yourself from the nightmare you call a husband, right?"
your eyes rounded, looking at him with an unreadable expression.
he walked to your side of the car, reaching through the opening to flick the window button. he slipped his hand out as it began to slowly slide back up.
"leave, then. just know i'm not going to stop my efforts to get you back." he smiled as he went back into the house.
the window closed completely.
you were brimming with annoyance, yet you couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache when you pulled out of the driveway, leaving your house—and rindou—behind.
this was so self-indulgent lol. i know they mean well, but when people apologize so quickly and with such intensity, i just get frustrated that i had to get to such a low point to see any remorse or change from them. and of course, i can't argue without crying my eyes out. anyway, do we want a part two?

cw — sfw, fluff, mingi is sick and sulky, reader is smaller than mingi
Tumblr media
It’s not entirely weird for Mingi to be waking up at 11:27 a.m. Sure, he’ll get up at seven or eight on a day full of schedules, but there’s also days where he sleeps until two, three, four p.m whether it’s from jet lag or after staying up late writing. What is weird is the fact that he’s been asleep since eight p.m. yesterday.
A text from your boyfriend is what lets you know he’s finally awake, and you’re up from the sitting room couch in an instant, darting to your shared bedroom.
He’s got the covers pulled halfway up his face with just his eyes poking out to stare at his phone screen and you wonder how a six-foot-something man can look so small.
“Morning, baby,” you say, slinking over to his side of the bed so you can sit on the edge next to him.
“Morning,” he replies, and if it weren’t for the fact that he was quite literally in front of you, you’d be convinced that someone had kidnapped your boyfriend and replaced him with a complete stranger—one with a voice so deep that it rumbles when he speaks.
Your eyes widen and you giggle, but you can’t say you’re surprised at how he sounds. His voice is notorious for dropping several octaves in the morning. Usually it’s sexy, but given that he’d spent the entire day before complaining about a sore throat, you can’t find it in you to feel anything but pity for the poor boy.
“So, I called your doctor and he said you need to stay home for the next four to five days at the least,” you tell him, reaching for his muss of silver hair to tangle your fingers through it softly.
“What-no, I’m really fine!” he whines, pushing himself up to sit against the headboard. “I have to practice for the comeback, I can’t take a break right now.”
“You’re not taking a break, Gi, you’re going on sick leave. You kept me up all night with your sneezing and coughing,” you say, crossing your arms over your chest, only to melt as soon as he gives you his big, round, puppy eyes.
“But it’s just a cold…”
“Well, the doctor ordered it. Besides, I’ve already called Hongjoong and your managers. And I took work off today and tomorrow so I can stay home with you.
For a split second you swear his eyes well up with tears. “You did?”
“Of course,” you tell him. When Mingi is sick, he turns into a four week old puppy because he can’t be left alone, or a newborn baby who needs a pair of eyes on him at all times so that he doesn’t suffocate to death. So when you tell him you’ll go make him some food and tea, he wraps his excessively giant hands around your body and clings to you, like letting go of you would mean he’ll succumb to his illness.
“Gi, you need fluids. Please let me go,” you remind him, but he only holds you tighter and you know it’s partly out of spite and partly because he’s just like this—a velcro boyfriend.
“Mingi, I’ll be two minutes, then I’ll come right back, okay?” you tell him.
“No, you won’t, I know you,” he says, and you don’t have to look at him to know he’s pouting. It’s a permanent feature of his face by now.
“I will! Why else do you think I took work off, huh?”
He’s silent then, and a moment later his arms fall loose, and he lets you go, but you leave a kiss on his forehead as an act of promise to him and shuffle back out to your kitchen.
Spurred by your boyfriend’s neediness, you gather leftover rice from the fridge, chicken broth, and a handful of vegetables with haste and start to boil the concoction that your mother taught you how to make, the one that got you through not just fevers but through heartbreaks, losses, and cold winters.
“The most important ingredient,” she would say, “is a sprinkle of your heart”—though Mingi deserved more than just a sprinkle.
The kettle boils away and your stew bubbles with life in no time. It’s also no time before a giant, warm, sniffling body plasters itself to your back and buries his face into your neck, practically bending in half to do so.
You can’t say you don’t see it coming. Still, the spirit of your mother possesses you when you drag out his name to scold him.
“Why aren’t you in bed, dummy?” you question, though you’re careful not to have any real aggravation in your voice toward him. Admittedly, you adore the way his body heat wraps around you like a blanket, although you’re sure that’s just his fever.
“Missed you too much,” he mumbles, nuzzling his nose and lips against your shoulder.
“I told you I’d be two minutes,” you sigh.
“It’s been more than that already. You lied. I knew you’d lie.”
“It was hyperbole for ‘I’ll be super quick’.”
“Then you should have said that.”
You place your wooden spoon down on the counter, turning to face your boyfriend with a fond smile on your face.
He looks adorable. Unbelievably so. Mussed up white hair, a dusting of pink on the apples of his cheeks and the pointy tip of his nose, puffy eyes that still sparkle at the sight of you. You might be the luckiest human on the planet.
You bring your hands up to his face, grabbing at each of his cheeks and squishing them gently between your fingers.
“My poor, sick princess,” you coo, watching his dimples make an appearance when he gives you a goofy, content smile. “Do you wanna watch a movie? Or a show maybe?”
He nods his head, still smiling so sweetly.
“Go pick something and I’ll finish up your soup,” you offer.
“Can I have a kiss first?”
You stare at him, unamused, though you know this very well—Song Mingi cannot live without your kisses. It’s why he was crafted with the softest, prettiest, heart-shaped lips, so that you could kiss them over and over and over again until the end of time. There are exceptions, however.
“I’m not catching your virus! Is that what you want?”
“No, no, on my forehead again!” he clarifies, his features suddenly muddled with worry because he would suffer from this cold for the rest of his life if it meant you would be healthy for the rest of yours. You wonder, though, if he knows how badly you wish you could take his cold and suffer it for him.
“Oh, well then yeah, duh,” you say, standing on your tip toes and gently pulling Mingi’s face towards you so that you can plant an overly long kiss on his burning forehead and pull away with a “mwah!” that leaves him utterly beaming.
Finally satisfied, he shuffles off back to the room, leaving you to brew his tea and serve up the stew into two bowls.
You grab flu tablets from the medicine cabinet, noting that they’re almost all gone and you’ll need to go to the pharmacy to get more. For today you have enough, so you place them on the tray along with the stews and tea and make your way back to your bedroom.
Mingi is curled up under the covers again and it’s so cute that you hate to disturb him, but he unfurls himself and sits up as soon as he sees you with a tray in hand.
“What are we watching?” you ask, slowly settling on the bed next to him and laying the tray down on the mattress.
“I think Attack on Titan, if you want to,” he says, full of fondness as you hand him two tablets to take.
“Oh, right, you’ve been wanting to watch that! Of course I want to,” you tell him, because you could never pass up the opportunity to see Jean Kirschtein in action again. You’ve missed him dearly since the show ended, though you have no doubt of the sulking and pouting you’ll get from Mingi when he comes onscreen.
Your boyfriend’s eyes go comically wide when he tries your soup and you laugh because he almost chokes on it.
“Is it that good?” you chuckle.
“It’s really good,” he responds.
“Good, because I put all my love into it.”
He hums, his face glowing pink as he eats another spoonful. “I can tell. Thank you for making this. And thank you for taking care of me. And for putting up with me.”
“Anything for my princess,” you giggle. “But I’m not ‘putting up with you’, idiot. Is it hard to comprehend that someone cares about you, Mingi?”
He stares up at you with his shiny eyes as though you hand-crafted the very sun, moon, and stars and placed them in the sky yourself.
“I love you,” he says, a mere whisper. It’s three words he’s said to you a million times, but right now, with his walls down and him vulnerable, it’s worth a million times more.
“I love you too,” you reply, leaning over to smack your lips against his temple. “Now watch the show!”
And he tries, he really does—but your little hospital patient is fast asleep by the third episode.

Wanda paced the living room, worry etched on her face. She glanced over at you, curled up on the couch, and sighed. "I hate leaving you alone, sweetie," she murmured, her voice soft and loving. "But this mission is important."
You nodded, understanding but still feeling a knot of anxiety in your stomach. Being without Wanda for a week felt daunting. "I’ll miss you, Mommy," you whispered, looking up at her with wide eyes.
Wanda smiled gently, stroking your cheek. "I’ll miss you too, my little one. But I’ve made arrangements." She looked towards the door as it opened, revealing Natasha. "Nat’s going to take care of you while I’m gone."
Natasha walked in, exuding confidence and a stern demeanor. She was known for handling the most rebellious subs, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous under her intense gaze.
Wanda hugged you tightly before stepping aside. "I trust you with Nat. She’s experienced and will make sure you’re safe and taken care of."
Natasha nodded, her eyes softening slightly as she looked at you. "I’ve got this, Wanda. She’ll be in good hands."
Wanda had just left for her mission, and you felt a mix of anxiety and determination to be good for Natasha. You stood nervously in the living room, unsure of what to expect.
Natasha noticed your apprehension and decided to start with something simple. "Alright, let's start with some basic rules. I expect you to be respectful, follow my instructions, and let me know if you need anything. Understand?"
"Yes, Ma’am," you replied, nodding quickly.
"Good girl. Now, let's make dinner together," Natasha suggested, leading you to the kitchen. Throughout the evening, she observed your eagerness to help and your meticulous attention to her instructions.
As you sat down to eat, Natasha praised you. "You did well today. Tomorrow, we'll go over a more detailed routine."
You smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Thank you, Ma’am."
==============
The next morning, Natasha woke you up early. "Rise and shine, little one. Let's start the day with some exercise."
You followed her to the living room, where she led you through a series of stretches and light workouts. Natasha was firm but encouraging, and you tried your best to keep up.
Afterward, she sat you down for breakfast. "Today, we'll go over your chores and how I expect things to be done."
You listened intently as she explained your tasks: keeping the living room tidy, doing the laundry, and preparing simple meals. You nodded eagerly, wanting to prove you could handle everything.
As the day went on, Natasha noticed how diligently you worked, always checking in to ensure you were doing things right. "You're doing great, little one," she said, patting your head. "Just remember to take breaks and drink water."
===========
By the third day, you had settled into the routine Natasha had established. She decided to test your obedience a bit further. "Today, I want you to wear this," she said, handing you a specific outfit.
You blushed but complied without hesitation. "Yes, Ma’am."
Throughout the day, Natasha gave you various tasks, each one a bit more challenging than the last. She watched as you completed each one with dedication and a desire to please.
That evening, Natasha rewarded you with a relaxing bath. "You've been such a good girl. You deserve to relax," she said, running the water and adding bubbles.
You sighed contentedly as you soaked in the tub, grateful for her care.
===========
Natasha decided it was time to see how you handled a bit more pressure. "Today, we're going to do some more intense training," she announced.
She led you through a series of more demanding exercises, both physical and mental. You felt the strain but pushed through, wanting to impress her.
Throughout the day, Natasha remained attentive, offering praise and corrections as needed. By the end of the day, you were exhausted but proud of yourself.
"Well done, little one," Natasha said, giving you a rare smile. "You've shown great determination."
==========
On the fifth day, Natasha decided to lighten things up. "You've worked hard. Let's have some fun today."
She took you out for a walk in the park, letting you enjoy the fresh air and the beauty of nature. You felt relaxed and happy, chatting with her about various things.
Later, you baked cookies together, laughing as flour ended up everywhere. Natasha seemed more relaxed, and you felt a growing bond with her.
===============
As the week drew to a close, Natasha sat down with you for a heart-to-heart talk. "You've done exceptionally well, little one. I'm proud of you."
You beamed, feeling a rush of pride and happiness. "Thank you, Ma’am. I just wanted to make you and Mommy proud."
Natasha nodded. "You have. You've shown resilience, obedience, and a lot of heart."
On the final day, you and Natasha spent the day preparing for Wanda's return. You cleaned the house, prepared a special dinner, and made everything perfect.
As the evening approached, Natasha looked at you with a rare softness. "It's been a pleasure taking care of you, little one. You're a very special girl."
You blushed, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. "Thank you, Ma’am. I'm grateful for everything you've done."
=============
When Wanda finally walked through the door, she was greeted by the sight of you and Natasha waiting with smiles. She hugged you tightly, her eyes shining with love.
"Welcome home, Mommy," you said, feeling complete now that she was back.
Wanda looked at Natasha, her gratitude evident. "Thank you, Nat. You've taken such good care of her."
Natasha nodded, a rare smile on her face. "She's a gem, Wanda. You've raised a wonderful little one."
As Natasha prepared to leave, she turned to Wanda with a thoughtful expression. "You know, Wanda, looking after her has been a breeze compared to the brats I usually tame. Maybe I'll stop taming and finally get a cute little thing like her."
Wanda smiled, a twinkle in her eye. "You enjoyed her that much?"
Natasha chuckled softly. "Oh, absolutely. She was a delight. Maybe it's time for a change."
Wanda’s smile widened, warmth and affection evident in her eyes. "Well, you know you're more than welcome to come play with her whenever you want."
You looked up at Natasha, your heart fluttering with happiness. The idea of seeing her again filled you with excitement. "I'd like that, Ma’am."
Natasha reached out, gently ruffling your hair. "I'd like that too, little one."
With a final hug and a promise to visit soon, Natasha left, leaving you and Wanda to enjoy your reunion. As you cuddled up with Wanda on the couch, you felt an overwhelming sense of contentment. The week with Natasha had been challenging but rewarding, and now, with Wanda back, everything felt perfect.
Wanda kissed your forehead, her arms wrapped around you protectively. "I’m so proud of you, sweetheart. You did so well."
You smiled up at her, feeling loved and cherished. "I just wanted to make you proud, Mommy."
Wanda’s eyes softened, filled with love. "You always do, my precious little one."
And with that, you settled into the warmth of her embrace, looking forward to the future with both Wanda and the possibility of more time with Natasha.

To Be Loved | Armand x Reader
ෆ idolized and worshipped by your coven members, alive but not living, things quickly change for you when you move to Paris, and meet your soulmate.
requested via private messages, this was so cute, no manipulative gremlin armand.
Tumblr media
What is Love? A feeling of deep admiration or likeness? Patience, kindness, unconditional forgiveness? It was hard to tell. The emotion had become so distant from you, a faint memory from half of a millennial ago. Love required trust, and you couldn't bring yourself to trust another.
“My lord, the sun has departed for the night,” Demetrius said, making you look up from your lap. Everyone kneeled before you, their heads down.
“You may go and hunt,” you dismissed them, closing your eyes. You could feel their stares lingering, hesitating, as they stood up, leaving you alone in the dungeon.
“How long will you starve yourself? At least feed on the rodents, you look like death,” hearing her voice, feeling her closeness, but refusing to face her, to acknowledge the concerned expression.
“Good, then I’m one step closer to dying for good,” you sighed.
“Y/n, don't be stupid, go drink, it is an order from your maker,” she ordered, making you open your eyes.
“Leave me,” you screamed, facing her, but she was gone.
Cassia, the reason you were here today, the last person you trusted. You were from a wealthy family, and your father, and his father, both swordsmiths, valued, oftentimes working alongside kings and their soldiers.
While he was never home, your mother was too immersed in raising your younger siblings to focus on you, nevertheless, you were loved. On birthdays and traditional holidays, you'd receive amazing gifts of all kinds, praised and advised on everything, you couldn't have asked for a better life. It wasn't until the mysterious young woman, Cassia moved close by, that your life changed.
You had been out later than usual, on your way home from a friend’s house, when you saw her. She stood outside of her house, reaching for the apples on the tree.
“Hey, could you lend me a hand, I can't reach these,” she called out, stopping you, just as you passed her short fence.
“I really need to get home,” you said, apologetically.
“It will only take a moment, please, come,” she said, watching as you awkwardly entered the gate. You didn't understand how she thought you could help when there wasn't a big difference in your height.
Jumping a few times, you managed to knock the apples out of the tree. Picking them up, you placed them in her basket, turning to leave, but she stopped you.
“Bring them in,” she told you, already walking into the house. Glancing down the road at your house, you picked up the basket, and you entered the home. It was much brighter than outside with all of the candles, neatly arranged.
“You can sit them on the table,” she said, turning to face you. Your eyes widened for a moment, she was one the most beautiful woman you had ever seen. Her skin was perfect, smooth with a few small moles, full lips, doll eyes, and glossy soft hair.
“Thank you,” she told you.
“You're welcome,” you said, turning to leave.
“How old are you? I heard your family a few weeks back, celebrating a birthday,” she said.
“Eighteen”
“And you aren't betrothed?” she asked, as she moved closer.
“No, my father will begin looking for arrangements later this year,” you explained.
“Good, whoever has you, will be lucky, you have a heart of gold,” she said, her hand going to your cheek. She was moving closer, making you uncomfortable, an eerie grin on her lips.
“Go, it is getting late, but come back tomorrow night,” she continued.
There was something intriguingly bizarre about the woman because despite how weird she seemed, the next night you found yourself, fidgeting with your fingers, in front of her door, contemplating if you wanted to knock. Just as you raised your hand, the door opened.
“Come in,” she smiled, moving out of the way.
“I don't believe I got your name, yesterday night,” she continued.
“Y/n,” you held out your hand.
“Cassia,” she raised an eyebrow, taking your hand into her own.
Awkwardly staring at your hands, while she gazed at you, she continued caressing her thumb against your skin. Clearing your throat, you took your hand away.
“What did you need?”
“I have a gift, for your generosity,” she said.
“No need, it was nothing-
“I insist, please, sit,” she pointed to the table. Gulping, you went to sit down, something peculiar about her tone sent a chill down your spine.
“I hope you like apples, I made pastries, it has been a long time since I’ve made anything like these, but I know they are delicious,” she smiled, setting the tray in front of you. The slice of fresh apple pie, along with cookies.
“Thank you, this really was unnecessary,” you shook your head, breaking a piece of the cookie.
“You were the first and only to help me, it is obvious that you have been chosen,” she told you, watching as you ate the cookie.
“Do you like it?” she asked, smirking as you nodded. Chewing, you began to cough a little, repeatedly clearing your throat, and staring into the cookie. Standing up, you made your way to the door, stumbling, Cassia slowly behind you, catching you, as you fell unconscious.
Waking up, you struggled to move, opening your eyes, confused to see Cassia, straddling your lap, placing a variety of ointments and oils onto your body.
“W-what is going on?”
“I am preparing your body for your death,” she told you before she started humming.
“My what? Release me,” you wiggled, stopping as her hand went to your throat.
“You have been chosen, do not ruin this,” she snapped.
“Cassia, please, what are you talking about?”
“Those who must be kept were cursed, damned to eternity on earth, and to live off of blood, but the creator showed them mercy, bestowing soulmates. A companionship stronger than any other, the perfect partner, meant only for those with the dark gift. My soulmate, Elias, was weak, he chose the sun, he chose death over me. I’ve prayed and prayed, and I asked for another soulmate, and you have come along, helping me and I have to turn you to ensure we have each other forever,” she said, your eyes widened in fear, shaking your head.
“You're mistaken-
“I haven't been more certain,” she told you, her fingers brushing over your lips before she bared her fangs.
“To us, and an eternity of our love,” she said, sinking her fangs into your neck draining the life from out of you.
Turning you, within a single night, you had lost everything. Your family, friends, life, everyone sensed how different you became. How you suddenly left home and would only be seen with the strange woman. The same exterior, but a different entity possessing the body they once knew. The new social discrimination you experienced didn't help, being shunned for your not-so-obvious relationship with Cassia.
She was a lonely soul and out of your kindness, she convinced herself you were her second chance at love. She would later explain how it felt when you would come across your soulmate. How you would love them no matter who they were, their shade, or where they were from. She didn't realize it until turning you, but she had been wrong, there was no second chance. She would've let you go, to find your way with the dark gift, but she couldn't.
After the side effects wore off, the way you looked at her, your maker, brought butterflies. She knew it was only the gift, bringing on the newfound lust, but she gave in anyway. It was nothing more than sex for you but after centuries of celibacy, it felt like lovemaking to Cassia. On the living room floor, until morning came, then reality came down on you. Pulling away, a hint of disgust in your eyes, she knew then. Running outside, you only made it past her fence, before you fell to your knees, screaming in agony.
“Cassia,” you cried out, confused why this was happening.
Wearing a cloak, she grabbed a blanket and rushed out to save you, carrying you back into the house. From that point, even if you weren't hers, she loved you and felt a need to take care of you. After a few decades together, you eventually accepted her, but she knew it was only a matter of time before you came across your soulmate. That is why, a century into your companionship, she finally surrendered to the sun, leaving everything to you.
The last person to love you had left you alone. Her wealth and dark gifts, she passed, but you were utterly alone. You became a vagabond, you had no one to keep you settled in one place. You attempted to surrender a few times, but Cassia’s spirit wouldn't seem to leave you alone, talking you out of it every time. You formed a bitterness towards her, she claimed to love you, yet she brought you into this lonesome life, just to leave you.
Eventually, you found yourself in Rome, Cassia’s homeland. She and her soulmate were both turned and met here. You acted as if you hated her, but found yourself in the very place she was born. Buying a large home in the countryside, you were satisfied with the large dungeon in the home.
Not long went by, before your encounter with the local vampires. They came to you on a night you stood near a cliff, trying to pray. You had been trying for so long, you didnt have an end solution. For God to make your life less lonely, to bring your soulmate, to help you finally end your life, you were sure he wasn't listening, but it helped pass the time.
As they surrounded you, you didn't bother facing them, maybe they could kill you, but then Cassia came, telling you to show them your power. You had inherited all of the gifts and were much older than them. Begrudgingly, you turned to them, flying above them, watching as they quickly submitted to you. Then, one of them pointed out that you were praying, perhaps you were their saint, a mediator for the damned to god himself.
You denied their claims, but they didn't listen, asking to reside with you, which was the beginning of your coven. Eight young vampires, you grew closest to Demetrius, Jonah, and Marianne. Three centuries came and went and they all remained devout. Even though, for the last few years, you would be off and on starving yourself for weeks at a time.
“My lord?”
“Yes, Demetrius?” you answered, slowly turning to look at him. On his knees, his head bowed, he held a box.
“For you, you shouldn't starve yourself like this,” he said, as you took the box, surprised to see the trapped rats inside.
“Thank you,” you said, grabbing one of the rodents, and biting into it.
“The others are too afraid to mention this, and asked me to bring it up with you,” he said, nervously.
“Well, out with it,” you told him.
“We want to leave Rome, a few locals have gotten suspicious, and the talk has made its way to the city. We could easily kill them, but it would cause too much attention, so we think it is best to leave,” he said.
“Stand up,” you told him. You found it so bothersome having all of them bowing and crawling at your feet.
“The others are aware that they are able to leave this coven, I will not stop any of you,” you told him, as he stood in front of you.
“Yes, but we want you to come, Marianne thinks we will be safe in Paris, but we want you to join us,” he said.
“Go with them, Rome no longer serves you any purpose, you only await death here,” Cassia told you, as you stared at Demetrius.
“How soon did everyone expect to leave?”
“As soon as possible”
“Then we will leave for Paris, and you all can come out from hiding,” you said, watching as your coven members slowly revealed themselves.
“Thank heavens, there is one more thing, Demetrius hasn't told you, my lord,” Jonah said, making you face him.
“And what is that?”
“We have hopes of blending in with society”
“Very well-
“I think they mean everyone”
“I mean everyone, and with the utmost respect, you will also have to adjust, or you will look out of place, Marianne can take care of your wardrobe,” he said nervously, glancing at her.
“Tell them yes,” Cassia said excitedly.
“If these are the plans, you all will need to prepare, as soon as possible,” you said, watching as everyone’s faces lit up, dropping to their knees, they worshipped you.
“This is good, you need the change, you can finally take steps towards living your life,” Cassia told you, as you lowered your head.
Hopefully. How long would your life continue like this? The vain worship, as if you were their god. You couldn't remember the last time someone looked into your eyes and saw you as an equal. Maybe Paris could change the agonizing lifestyle you felt trapped in.
Tumblr media
“I hope I haven't overdone myself, my lord,” Marianne said, her head down, following you into the large castle-style home.
“It is perfect, I can't remember the last time I saw coffins this nice,” Cassia clapped, walking next to you.
“You have done well, everything is pleasant,” you told her, patting her head as she thanked you profusely.
“Amazing, we have our own coffins?” Alexander, one of the younger, newer members of the coven exclaimed. He was also Marianne’s soulmate.
“Yes, I apologize for my negligence as a coven leader over the years, in the dungeon, I felt no need for coffins, being that it was dark, but coffins are much more comfortable than the cold floor,” you told him, you didn't realize until after speaking, everyone stared at you with such admiration in their eyes.
“We chose you as our leader, and we accept any conditions, as long we can stay with you, although we are very thankful for the upgrade,” Jonah told you, everyone agreeing.
“Enough of the praise, there are still a few hours left in the night, go hunt, and travel together, until you are familiar with your surroundings,” you waved them off.
“You're not coming?”
“Perhaps another time, go on,” you told them, turning away, and going to your room.
It had only been a few hours since arriving in Paris, at the large house. Demetrius took care of finding the place, while Marianne furnished it, before your arrival. You couldn't lie, you felt uncomfortable, your usually unruly appearance had been completely changed, replaced by fitted trousers and a soft turtleneck.
You refused to be walking around in the strange dresses of the age and preferred androgynous pieces of clothing.
“Will you hunt tomorrow?”
“Cassia, why is it that even in death, you force yourself into my life, I am not yours,” you told her sternly.
“You are my fledgling, my blood flows within you, I can not leave you to die, not when you have so much potential and when you haven't given yourself a chance to find your soulmate, even in death, I love you more than myself”
“Then why did you leave? All you wanted was for me to love you, and when I did, you left,” you faced her, pointing accusingly.
“I made a mistake turning you, out of my own selfishness you were created. I couldn't keep you, and deny you the vampire meant to be yours. You can hate me, but I knew what was best, and trust me when I say, that coming to Paris was for the best, what’s yours is soon to come, sooner than you think,” she said, vanishing.
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and Cassia never spoke to you. It was refreshing, not having her in your ear. Other than the praise and worship, Paris seemed like the change you needed. No one encountered any other vampires, and they all were beginning to blend, amongst the mortals, as they originally wanted.
“My lord, please help,” Marianne burst into your room. You were levitating, attempting to pray, but opened your eyes.
“What is it?” you asked, furrowing your eyebrows at the blood smeared all over her face.
“Alexander is in trouble; he wandered off while we were hunting and came across a few other vampires, they followed him here and they're much stronger than the others, please do something,” she said, her voice filled with urgency. Nodding, you let your feet touch the ground, before following her.
Just as the door opened, you could see the vampires surrounding your coven, taunting them. Lifting from the ground, with only a flick of your finger, fire sparked around them, making them confusing look around looking up at you.
“Get away from them,” you warned them.
“You and your coven are in claimed territory, you’ve been here for months and haven't made your presence known,” one of the vampires spoke, his back had been turned to you the entire time.
“Careful,” Cassia spoke, you looked over at her. This was the first time seeing her in over seven months.
“I do not answer to other vampires,” you told him, going back to the ground, as he began to turn around.
Fire appeared in his hand, making you do the same, and just as he faced you, both of you froze. His eyes widened, while you shook your head in disbelief. Your heart was racing, goosebumps on your skin, as you stared at this beautiful creature. Your heart was reaching out to him, yearning to be loved and cherished by him, he was your soulmate.
“Enough, let them go,” he spoke to his coven, making them look at him confused.
“We can't just-
“Enough,” he raised his voice, and immediately they stopped, moving away.
Your coven slowly came to you, each of them bowing their heads at you. Alexander looking the most apologetic.
“I am sorry, my lord,” he started.
“You have done nothing wrong,” you reassured him.
“I am Armand, What is your name?” the man spoke, making your eyes shift back to him. As much as you knew for sure he was your soulmate, you refused to give in. To be used for his personal pleasures, like Cassia.
“That is none of your concern,” you said, and immediately he was in front of you. His eyes softened, reaching for your hand, but you took it away.
“You are my soulmate,” he started.
“And if I wasn't, what would have happened? You threatened my coven and me, I am quick to forgive, try again another time,” you spat, turning away, your coven following.
“You're just letting them leave,” Santiago asked, frowning.
“Yes, for now, we must go, the sun will be out soon,” he said, walking toward their bikes.
“Why would you deny him, deny yourself love?” Cassia asked.
“The sun will be out within the next hour,” you announced.
“You would rather be alone, and sulk until you die”
“Stop talking,” you muttered.
“You have followed in my footsteps with your selfishness”
“Cassia shut up,” you yelled, as your coven members shared looks of concern, seeing you yell at what seemed to be nothing.
“Everyone to your coffins,” you said, clearing your throat and going to your room.
“It is not my intention to hurt you, my love, but I don't want you to do this to yourself. If you could have seen from another perspective how he looked at you, he didn't want to harm you, if he comes back, give him a chance, please, for the both of us,” she told you, holding your cheek, before disappearing.
Going to your coffin, you blocked everyone out as they talked among themselves. Whispering questions, and ideas. As the sun came up, you fell asleep easily, all of them leaving your mind as you gave in to the well-needed rest.
Just as the moon covered the sky, you opened your eyes at the sound of a knock on the front door. Getting out of your coffin, you began to leave the room. You could see Demetrius at the door, it was only cracked, but you knew who stood on the other side.
“If I may speak with your leader”
“I don't think that is a-
“It is okay, Demetrius,” you told him, watching as he bowed, opening the door more to reveal him, holding a bouquet of roses.
“Are you sure?”
“I am, thank you,” you said.
“Good boy,” the youthful man said, tauntingly, while Demetrius slowly walked away, growling at him, as he disappeared into his room, as you approached the door.
“Is there something I can help you with?” you asked.
“You told me to try again another time, these are for you,” he said, holding out the flowers for you to take.
“I didn't think you would come so soon,” you said, making them fly across the room, landing on the nearby table.
“You are my soulmate, I couldn't go another moment knowing you are out there, away from me. I apologize for my coven and my behavior, we have been aware of your people for some time now, waiting for any of you to reveal yourselves,” he said.
“I too am at fault, I sensed the presence of another older vampire, but I didn't realize you would be so close,” you admitted, you couldn't decide if it felt odd or refreshing, as he stared into your eyes, nodding after each word that came from your mouth.
“Fate has a way of working, come with me, somewhere more private,” he said, holding out his hand. Hesitantly, you accepted his hand, exiting the house. Wrapping his arm around your waist, he lifted from the ground, flying through the sky.
He didn't stop until he was at the famous art museum, freezing security, slowly lowering to the ground. As your cold feet touched the floor, his hand went from your waist to your hand, leading you up the stairs.
“Your coven, they worship you as if you are their god, Y/n, it took a lot of digging to find out your name,” he started.
“They have convinced themselves I am some sort of saint for the damned, I have denied the title, but now I think they have simply chosen to be loyal to me,” you shrugged.
“And your faithful servant, Demetrius?” he asked in a tone you didn't like.
“What about him?”
“He is only your devout worshipper? He seemed to care-
“He is loyal, but if we had anything going on, it wouldn't be any of your business-
“Y/n, don't act like that,” Cassia appeared.
“Would you be quiet,” you started, but froze, realizing you spoke to her, in front of Armand.
“Are you…alright, darling?” he asked, glancing at you.
“My maker insists on haunting me, to make up for her mistakes,” you confessed.
“Her mistakes….”
“She thought I could potentially be her soulmate, so she turned me, but when she realized I would eventually meet my soulmate, she went into the sun,” you said, as you focused on the artwork along the walls.
“I’m sorry”
“Centuries, I have been alone, honored but unknown to my coven, it was her, who had convinced me to come to Paris”
“Then I should be thanking her, for bringing you to me,” he smiled, keeping his eyes straight ahead.
“Armand, I can’t be with you, I hardly know you-
“You and I, we are more alike than you think, untrusting, hurt, a wall built around us, in hopes of protecting what was once wounded. I’m not asking for you to jump out of your comfort zone, but rather, I’d like to invite you to visit my theatre. You have to get to know someone to decide if they are worthy of being trusted,” he said, making you glance over at him.
This beautiful man, your soulmate, the deepest parts of your soul pleaded to give into his words. Fall into his embrace and exchange your love, but the emotional scars held you back.
Clearing your throat, you walked away from him, towards the next piece of art. “I’ll think about it,” you said, hearing his small chuckle, before he followed behind you.
“Where did you reside, before coming to Paris?” He asked, making you slightly frown.
“Why?”
“I’m only curious to know more about you, your background, how did a woman as beautiful as you, become a coven leader, with such powerful gifts,” he said.
“I could say the same, you look very young, how old were you?” you asked him.
“Ladies first,” he smirked. Looking into his eyes with a straight face, you searched for deception, any reason to not trust him, but you could find none. His body language was completely defenseless and open to you. Sighing, you opened your mouth, starting from the beginning, you shared your story with him.
Tumblr media
From the windows, you could feel the eyes of your coven members. Lowering to the ground, with Armand, you held on comfortably, as the two of you continued talking.
The coven couldn’t deny how different you already seemed. This was the most they’d ever seen you speak, occasionally laughing at whatever the man had said. The sun would be out in less than an hour and here you stood out in the open, with the mysterious man.
“You should go, the sun will be out soon, and my coven, they are watching us”
“Intensely,” he agreed, making you snicker.
“You look so beautiful when you smile,” he continued, watching as you bit down on your lip.
“I have to go,” you said. Turning to leave, he reached for your hand, stopping you. Pulling the card from his pocket, he slipped it into your fingers.
“Come to the theatre, you and your coven,” he smiled.
“Sleep well, Armand,” you told him, walking away. You could feel the wind blow, as he flew into the sky.
Entering the house, your mood changed, seeing your coven shift their eyes from you. You knew it was out of respect, but you saw them as equals, and this was growing tiring.
“If any of you are up for it, we have been invited to Théâtre des Vampires, I’ll be going tomorrow,” you told them.
“And if you expect to blend in, then there will be no bowing or titles, we are going to enjoy ourselves, save your worship,” you said, turning to go upstairs.
“My lord,” you heard, as you were about to enter your bedroom.
“Yes,” you turned, facing Marianne.
“He’s your soulmate, isn't he?” she asked, a small smile, on her face.
“I’m afraid so,” you said lowly.
“Give him a chance, you deserve to be adorned with love and kisses. Just looking at him, I’m sure your heart flutters tremendously,” she said.
“Is that how you feel about Alexander?”
“From the moment I looked into his eyes, I fell in love, and it hasn't faltered since then, please, you deserve this,” she said, for the first time, meeting your eyes differently. Not as a devout worshipper, but a friend.
“Get some rest, Marianne,” you smiled at her, turning to leave her, going into your room.
“She’s right, you know,” Cassia spoke, as soon as the door shut.
“I thought you were done for the night,” you told her, as you removed your clothing, changing into your pajamas.
“I will be leaving you soon,” she smiled, looking down at her hands, two wedding rings decorated her finger.
“Giving me another break?”
“For good,” she said, as you snapped your head her way.
“What do you mean?”
“You have found your soulmate, you may not see it now, but Armand is persistent, and he loves hard. You will give in to his love, and finally, this void within you will be filled. Meaning, my work is done,” she smiled, a bloody tear dropping from her eye.
“Where will you go?”
“I am damned, so I would assume hell, not that it matters,” she laughed, bitterly.
“You don't have to do that, you can stay-
You began to protest, coming up with possibilities, while she stood, shaking her head. Approaching you, you began to cry quietly. You held a resentment towards her, yet you couldn't deny how much she meant to you, at this moment.
“You don't have to go,” you whispered.
“I may be damned, but I’ve done well with you, my greatest creation, my love, my angel — you make the dark gift shine beautifully in the night. You will always be the best thing that happened to me. All I ask is that you live, and continue to flourish, no matter what. No more dungeons, starving yourself, isolating from the world, do you understand?” she asked, smiling sadly, as you nodded.
“Yes,” you managed to speak.
“As much as I’d love to savor your lips, I will save them for your soulmate. Even when I’m not here anymore, I will live on through you. My blood flows in you, leaving a small piece of me with you, for an eternity. Goodbye, my sweet y/n,” she said, slowly fading. As she completely disappeared, you noticed the teardrop blood stain, right where she stood. Proof that she hadn't been part of your imagination, but actually with you, throughout the years.
Opening your coffin, your mind shifted between Armand and Cassia. Love. You still didn't what it was, but perhaps he could be the one to show you — with Cassia gone, what did you truly have to lose?
Tumblr media
“We're trying to assimilate and these pricks are blatantly doing this, acting like it's a play,” you could hear Demetrius grumble, as you all sat, attempting to watch the play. The play that you all quickly realized, was one, terrible, and two, their way of killing humans in front of other humans.
“Exactly, but these mortals are just as pathetic because they find it scary,” Jonah laughed, as the curtain closed. The young girl could still be heard screaming, her voice growing faint.
“I see him,” Marianne bumped your shoulder, making you look over. He sat in a booth, facing you, and as soon as you met his eyes, he smiled. You almost returned the gesture, but instead, you kept a straight face, making his face falter for a moment.
Turning back towards the stage, you listened to Jonah, Demetrius, and Alexander go on about how terrible the play was, going as far as making jokes about the actors. You could feel his gaze, but you ignored it, watching as humans began to leave the theater.
“That was almost two hours of my life wasted,” Alexander whined to Marianne.
“Look who decided to show his face,” the familiar man spat, standing in front of you all, his eyes on Alexander.
“He doesn't want any problems with you,” you told him, as his eyes sharply shifted to you.
“Their dear coven leader, you have all of them afraid of you, but perhaps it's because you haven't met your equal, or someone stronger,” he hissed at you, as you stood up.
“Is that supposed to be you?” you tilted your head, fire sparking from your fingers.
“Enough, Santiago,” Armand spoke up. The man rolled his eyes, but obeyed his orders, backing away from you. The action seemed to catch the attention of all of his coven members, as they stopped what they were doing to watch the scene unfold.
“Y/n is my soulmate, disrespect to her is disrespect to me, and it will not be tolerated. Do I make myself clear?” he raised his voice, and many of the members nodded in agreement. Santiago remained quiet when Armand grabbed him, choking him.
“Do you understand, Santiago?” he asked him, watching him struggle to nod, muttering an embarrassed, “Yes”.
“Good,” he shoved him away, his eyes moving to you.
“Come,” he held out his hand to you, watching as you slowly accepted it.
Looking down at your hands, his fingers intertwined with your own, you looked back at your coven. They smiled excitedly, Jonah giving you a thumbs up.
“I was surprised you came, what did you think of the play?”
“It was awful, but in a good way, I guess. I enjoyed the ending,” you said, laughing at his surprised expression.
“At least you're honest,” he sighed, his thumb brushing against your hand.
“I thought of you throughout the night, I hoped that you would show up,” he admitted, as he led you in the direction of the park.
“Yeah”
“All I wanted was to see your beautiful face again or smell your scent. I’ve never met any-
“Armand, this is difficult for me. I haven't experienced this kind of passion, for over half of my vampiric life. I didn't know how to love, or what it even means to,” you told him, but he only shook his head.
“Do you feel the same way, when you look at me? As if time stops, the compelling force to do or be anything your soulmate wants, as long as they will have you. The elation of just looking at your soulmate, because they look nothing but perfect in your eyes, do you feel this way too?” he asked, relief when you hesitantly nodded.
Pulling you closer, his eyes shifted from your lips to your eyes. He seemed a bit hesitant, making you think of Cassia and Marianne. Their words replayed in your mind, you thought of the same saying from the previous night, what did you truly have to lose?
Standing on your toes, your lips pressed against his own, immediately, his arms were around your waist. Moaning into the kiss, you could feel the almost static connection between the two of you, just as your skin touched for a kiss.
“I-I want this, but I’m not ready,” you told him, feeling guilty, as you pulled away.
“There is no rush, as long as you remain close, we can take as much time as you need,” he said, holding your hand, and placing a kiss on it.
“And our covens?”
“They will learn to coexist, or they are free to leave,” he shrugged.
“I think we should get back, and maybe share this information with them,” you said.
“Anything you say,” Amrnand said, holding your hand, as he led you back to the theatre.
On your back way, you passed through the market, a young girl catching for attention. She stood next to a tent, holding a sign, in front of a crate of apples.
“Would you like an apple, mademoiselle?” she asked, reminding you of Cassia.
“I-no thank you,” you smiled, before looked back at you in confusion.
“You okay?” he asked.
“Yes, we should hurry back,” you said to him, as he continued walking, pulling you close, leading you back the the theatre.
An eternity, you had an eternity with your soulmate. You could see now, that you would enjoy his company, he was protective, considerate, and kind. An eternity of being with Armand, perhaps then you would could finally begin to learn what it meant, to be loved.
i had to end it here bc y'all know i would go on and on 😂

2 months prior.
“Why don’t you stay here for a few minutes,” Chad sneers, pushing his seed back inside you that’s beginning to leak out. He’s not gentle; it hurts, causing tears to prick at your eyes, but you refuse to wince, give my swimmers a few extra minutes to find that egg,” he laughs.
They won’t. The Depo injection you got a few weeks ago at Planned Parenthood after Chad had found your hidden birth control pills will prevent that. It would be a cold day in hell before you brought an innocent child into this mess. The bruises from that beating were nearly healed now.
“Okay,” you reply, cold and numb.
“Dinner reservations are at tonight 6, so I’ll be here at 5:30 to pick you up,” Chad says from the bathroom as he starts the shower, “wear that black dress with the low back I like.”
“I will,” you lie.
If all goes to plan, you’ll be a few hours away by then, where he can’t find you.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
You get up as soon as he leaves, wanting nothing more than to get out of this hellhole but needing to wash the evidence of his abuse off of your body.
Your heart is pounding as you pull your suitcases out from the bottom of your closet, already packed and ready to go. Your sweaty hands tremble, barely able to pick up your last-minute supplies to toss them in a tote.
You lift the mattress and reach under where you made a slit, locating the cash you’ve been hiding there and pulling it out before packing it too.
With that cash and the money you transferred into a secret account when you had been working, you should be set until you find a job.
You set your phone on the kitchen table and take a slow, deep breath before walking towards the door.
The handle turns as you reach out to open it; your stomach does too.
“I’m so fucking glad I installed those cameras last week when you were at Pilates,” Chad chuckles darkly as you drop the suitcase, backing away in terror.
He grabs your ponytail when you turn to run, and you cry out loudly at the burning pain in your scalp as he yanks you back. “You’re not going anywhere. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever,” he seethes in your ear. Your stomach rolls in disgust as you can feel him hard against your ass; he’s getting off on this. “You belong to me.”
He pushes you into the table by the door, causing the flower vase atop it to fall and shatter.
“Stupid, ungrateful bitch,” he seethes, stepping over the mess before kicking your hunched form in the ribs, stealing the breath in your lungs from the sharp, searing pain as you land on the hardwood.
It only takes two steps before he’s on you again, gripping your shoulder and turning you to face him. His eyes are full of rage, his pupils dilated from the line he snorted in the car as he spits, “I thought you’d finally learned after the birth control incident. I should’ve known…”
Your head whips to the side and you taste blood when he backhands you, splitting your lip.
You can’t catch your bearings as you try to appease him with an apology; pain radiating from your cheek and there’s a deafening, high-pitched ringing in your ears, “I’m sorry Chad, let me explain-“
Pain explodes in the left side of your face a second later as he punches you as hard as he can before the world goes dark.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Shae?” says a familiar voice, sounding so far away. “Shae, honey, wake up.”
Your right eye slowly blinks open to the bright fluorescent lights; the left is swollen shut and pulsing painfully. The beeping of the heart monitor increases and the pain in your ribs makes itself known as everything comes rushing back.
The police officers arriving, the EMTs putting you on the stretcher, the chilling look in his eyes as you were rolled past, the favorite doctor you worked for giving you a sedative when you arrived in her ER panicking.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Dr. Akins murmurs, putting her hand on yours, “he’s not here, he can’t hurt you.”
You slowly nod. “Where,” you croak, tongue feeling like sandpaper, “where is he?”
“Sitting in jail,” she replies.
“But-“
“For 24 hours,” she assures you, “even with his connections, he won’t be getting out early.”
You nod, still a little dazed and disoriented as you take a drink of the water she offers. “Thank you.”
“He’s why you quit, huh?” Dr. Akins asks. Not judging, just observant.
You nod again.
“What happened? Today I mean,” she clarifies.
“I was leaving,” you whisper, wincing when you look down from the pain in your eye from the movement. “He came home.”
“How did he know? Did you tell anyone?” She asks gently.
“No,” you reply, “not a soul. He said something about installing cameras last week.”
“That’s not legal in the state of California, Shae,” she says softly, stroking her thumb over your hand, “neither is beating your wife half to death.”
You nod once again, gasping from the pain in your ribs when you sit up, “I’ve gotta get out of here before he’s released.”
“Where will you go?” She asks.
“I’m going to rent an Airbnb in San Diego,” you wince as you try to smile, quickly reminded of the split in your lip, “My parents met there when my dad was in the Navy. I visited after college and fell in love. It was the first place that came to mind the…” you trail off.
“The what?”
“The last time this happened,” you whisper, “he found out I was secretly taking birth control since we started trying for a baby…he thought being a family man would help him get a promotion at work…as if that canceled out the alcoholism, drug use, and anger problems.”
“Oh Shae,” she replies. Your eyes fill as you look away when you hear the tears heavy in her voice.
She stands and gently wraps you in a hug, letting you cry for the next few minutes. She hands you a tissue before taking one for herself.
“So…you’ve got an orbital fracture that thankfully doesn’t need surgery, no concussion but you’re gonna have a helluva headache, 3 broken ribs, a split lip, and a few other bumps and bruises,” she says finally, not sugar coating it.
You close your eyes, knowing they’ll want to keep you overnight for another observation.
“There’s two officers from Sacramento PD waiting to talk with you,” she continues, “but I’ll get you discharged when they’re done. As a nurse, I trust you know what signs and symptoms to watch for?”
You open your eyes and nod, “Thank you.”
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
You’re tight-lipped during the conversation with the officers with the entire police department in Chad’s back pocket.
You do ask for a restraining order, knowing it’s just a piece of paper, but it gives you a little peace of mind. You don’t press any further charges either; nothing will come of the ones already existing and you refuse to add fuel to his fire.
“Here’s your discharge papers,” Dr. Akins hands you the stapled stack after they leave, “and a little something from a few of the doctors here. We haven’t forgotten you, Shae.”
“Dr. Akins, you-“ you start but she interrupts.
“Just be safe, okay? My number is in there too, please let me know when you’re settled.”
“Okay,” you whisper, ignoring the shooting pain in your ribs as you pull her in for a final hug, “thank you.”
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
You try not to, but you can’t help but cry when you open the envelope in the Uber that Dr. Akins ordered. A letters of recommendation from her and two other doctors you worked with also, and enough bills to make you feel light-headed.
“Here’s fine,” you tell the driver when he pulls onto your street and is a few houses from yours.
You feel paranoid, but knowing Chad, he’ll check the Ring as soon as he gets released. If he sees a man brought you home, you wouldn’t put it past him to look up the license plate and have his cronies at the police station pull him over; it doesn’t matter that it’s just the man’s job.
“You sure?” He looks skeptically over his shoulder at you.
“Yeah,” you sigh when you try again to smile, tasting blood again when you open the cut in your bottom lip, “thanks.”
Ed, your sweet old neighbor, comes running when he spots you gingerly getting out of the car. “Shae!” He cries when he reaches you, placing his hands on your shoulders, afraid to hurt you, “oh your beautiful eye,” he whispers, tears filling his eyes as he scans your face. “I happened to see him come home, and I knew he wasn’t happy the way he slammed his car door. I’m sorry I called 911, but I heard you yell and then a crash.”
“It’s okay,” you begin to cry too, hating how distressed he is. You’d had quickly befriended him and his wife, Jean, when you moved in. They reminded you so much of your late parents and that’s exactly why Chad put an end to the relationship. “I’m glad you did, Ed.”
“I’m so sorry about Jean,” you continue, guilt overwhelming you. “I wanted to go to the funeral so badly.”
She had passed away nearly a year ago from cancer. You earned a slap across the face when you asked Chad to go to her funeral.
“It’s okay, honey. She knew you loved her and she loved you too,” he replies, pulling you in for the most gentle, tender hug.
The gesture breaks the dam inside you and you begin to sob; body-shaking, from-the-soul sobs.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Come inside,” Ed asks when you finally relax, “Just for a minute. I’ve got a slice of apple pie with your name on it. You’ve gotten too thin.”
“Okay,” you whisper, letting him take your hand.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Do you have my number in your new phone?” Ed asks by his front door after he feeds you not one, but two pieces of his homemade pie. It was your favorite and yet another thing Chad didn’t let you have.
You insist Ed stays home while you get your suitcases, not knowing the whereabouts of Chad’s cameras. The last thing you want is someone else getting hurt, especially Ed.
You nod, “It was the first number I put it, I still have it memorized. Promise you’ll come to see me when things settle?”
If they ever settle. Your heart sinks with the thought that this mess will never stop; not until he’s in prison or one of you ends up dead.
“I will,” he kisses your forehead, and hands you an envelope from his pocket, “here honey, take this.”
“Ed, no. I can’t,” you argue, eyes widening as you feel the wad of cash inside, “Really, I’ll be okay. I’ve been planning this for a while.”
“It was Jean’s idea,” he smiles sadly, “she knew you’d get out someday and we both wanted you to have a cushion.”
“Ed,” your voice breaks and you start to cry again. Your head was pounding, your ribs screamed with every breath and you were getting more anxious as more time passed.
“Take it and use it,” he says, putting his hand in his pocket so you can’t hand it back, “hire a lawyer, get that dog you always wanted, take a nice vacation, whatever you want, honey. Besides, he can’t track cash like he can a card.”
That thought crossed your mind too before you finally nod. “Thank you,” you whisper, giving him a final hug and heading back to your former home.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
You step over the drips of your blood and avoid the dead flowers and broken glass, feeling nauseous from anxiety and the pain pulsing through your body when you pick up your discarded bag and right your suitcases.
Your lip still quirks in satisfaction when the wheels of your suitcase drag the sharp pieces of glass over the floor, scratching the hell out of the hardwood he loves.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Ed watches from his front door as you struggle to get your suitcases in the back, but you discreetly shake your head when he opens the door to help. Chad is going to take his anger out somewhere, and you don’t want to make Ed more of a target.
You suppress your groan as you lift the floorboard in the trunk to find your secret cell phone hidden by the spare tire and turn it on after plugging it in while you fasten your seatbelt.
After typing in the address into GPS, you take a deep breath and pull out of the driveway, waving goodbye to Ed and starting your new life.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
A few weeks later (current day).
“Friday at 11,” you confirm, “I’ll be there, thank you again,” you say before hanging up with the recruiter.
You smile softly; things are looking up. You have an interview scheduled for a nursing position with a general practitioner at the Naval Base, you secured a nice apartment that’ll be ready to move into in a few weeks and Chad would be served with divorce papers any day now.
With the money you saved, the generous gift from the doctors you worked with at the ER, and the downright obscene amount from Ed and Jean, you didn’t need to rush into finding a job. So you had taken a few weeks to find an apartment and hit the beach while you healed; physically at least.
Emotionally though, you were struggling. Most nights you woke up soaked in a cold sweat, shivering in terror from your nightmares. Loud noises made you flinch. You were constantly having to remind yourself that it’s okay to go out and do what you want.
Dr. Akins checked in with you twice after letting her know you arrived. Ed texted or called almost daily; it was so nice to be able to talk to him freely.
You decide to walk a few blocks to the hole-in-the-wall restaurant you discovered on your first week here for dinner.
Taking a different way back, you come across a large, brown, and white dog tied outside a clothing shop.
The sign in the window above him reads, ‘Dog is for sale. Inquire within’.
His big, fluffy tail begins to wag when he realizes you’re approaching him and he lifts his head when you kneel, “Hi buddy.”
“Hi,” an older woman with a kind smile comes out when she sees you, “are you-“ she cuts off with a sneeze when she gets close.
“Bless you,” you smile.
“Thanks,” she sniffs, “I was trying to ask if you’re interested in him?”
“Oh,” you say, “I can’t…” you trail off as you realize there isn’t anything stopping you. The Airbnb listing said pets were welcome; same with your apartment. “Well…maybe?”
She laughs, sitting on the bench by the door, inviting you to sit beside her. “His name is Hank, he’s a 2-year-old, Great Pyrenees mix. He belonged to my daughter but…she can’t take care of him anymore; she checked herself into rehab,” she sighs sadly, “and will be for a while; she asked me to find him a good home since I’m horribly allergic and there’s too many kill shelters around here,” she answers before you can ask.
“I’m sorry,” you murmur, petting his big head when he rests it on your knee, “he’s so sweet.”
“He is,” she confirms before sneezing again, “he listens well, I’ve never heard him bark and I think he’s house trained-I’ve had to keep him in the garage at my house or I can’t breathe-but he hasn’t had any accidents there. I guess he’s a little leery of men too, but she wasn’t hanging around the best crowd either. I took him to the vet-in my car which was a terrible idea, I still sneeze when I open the door,” she laughs, “but they gave him a micro-chip and updated his vaccines. He was given a clean bill of health, I have his records in the store.”
He looks up at you with those big brown eyes; staring into your soul while tugging at your heartstrings.
“I’ll take him,” you hear yourself saying as you pull out your wallet and pull out all the cash you have in your wallet; around $500. She begins to refuse but you insist, “Please. I know the vet wasn’t cheap, and your daughter will need help getting back on her feet.”
Tears fill her eyes but she eventually nods, “Thank you.”
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
It doesn’t take long at all for you to fall in love with Hank; his personality is as big as he is. He just had one accident the first night and hasn’t barked a single time.
“How do I look?” You ask him, spinning in front of the mirror as he watches you from his spot on your bed. Dressing up felt nice, even if it was just for a job interview.
You did your best to cover the healing yellow bruise under your eye, but it was still noticeable in certain light.
He hops off the bed and nudges your thigh with his head before looking up at you in the mirror.
“Thanks, I think so too,” you smile down at him. “I’ll be back in a little bit, you be a good boy.”
He’s asleep on the bed before you shut the door.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Hi, you must be Shae,” the pretty woman greeting smiles as she offers her hand. “I’m Reese, nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too,” you reply.
“Please,” she gestures to the chairs across her desk as she sits, “have a seat.”
Your eyes squint when the sunlight catches your face as you sit before giving her your resume. “I also have letters of recommendation from my nursing instructor and a few of the doctors I’ve worked with,” your cheeks heat as you hand them over next.
Your stomach sinks as her gaze pauses on your concealed bruise before she scans the information given.
Your nerves settle as she asks questions and gives you different scenarios. Dr. Kerner is confident, witty and you get the impression she doesn’t take shit from anyone; which is needed when the majority of her patients are cocky men.
“Well, I’ve seen enough,” she smiles, “you can expect to from HR soon for the formal offer,” your heart soars and then sinks when her brow furrows slightly when she glances down again at her resume, “Oh, is this current?”
Your nerves come back full force and your hands twist nervously in your lap, “Yes, it’s current.”
“It’s okay,” she replies softly, picking up on your anxiety, “HR will ask why it's been 2 years since you worked last. What should I tell them?”
You feel yourself dissociate as you look out the window. “My husb-I mean, ex-husband…he didn’t want me to work.”
She nods, looking at your healing eye and piecing together where it came from. “Shae?”
You flinch slightly as you snap out of it, before meeting her eyes.
“I’m just going to tell them it was due to family reasons,” she says, watching as you sag in relief. “Are you safe though?”
“I am,” you reply, touching the slight discoloration under your eye, “I am now. He’s…a few hours away, and I have a dog now.”
“Okay,” she replies with a small smile, reaching for a pen and notepad. “Here’s my number if that changes okay?”
“Okay,” you whisper, touched by her gesture. You had very few people in your corner, and they all lived hours away. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” she replies, rising to her feet. “Hope to see you again soon.”
“I hope so too,” you smile genuinely for the first time.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“HR will be in touch soon,” Dr. Kerner says as she escorts you from her office, smiling down the hall. “Have a good weekend.”
“Thanks, you too,” you reply, eyes following hers to two men approaching.
The blonde gives you a friendly smile before locking eyes with Dr. Kerner. While he’s attractive, it’s evident he only has eyes for her.
The darker-haired one with a mustache is downright hot. The way he gives you a quick, appreciative once over before flashing you a grin has you blushing like a virgin.
You quickly head outside, feeling an odd mixture of emotions; unnecessary guilt for looking at another man, excitement that someone so good-looking finds you attractive, relief that you can still feel attraction, and nervousness that you might/might not see him again if you get the job.
Once inside your car, you blast the AC to cool your heated cheeks as you make your way back to your temporary home.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
A few days pass before receiving the call that you have the job and you agree to start the following Monday.
You hardly sleep the night before and arrive before nearly everyone.
Ready for your first day?” Dr. Kerner smiles when she sees you at your desk.
“I am,” you answer, “I looked over your preferences while I waited. It all looks familiar so I shouldn’t have any problem getting caught up to speed.”
“I didn’t figure you would,” she replies, “let me give you a quick tour and we’ll get the day started.”
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
By lunch, you’re already getting the hang of things.
“I don’t know how I’ve survived this long without you,” Dr. Kerner smiles as she checks the time, “seriously, you’re doing a great job.”
“Thank you,” you murmur, flushing as you look down at your shoes, so unused to compliments.
“You’re welcome,” she replies, “I usually have lunch in here with Jake, my boyfriend, and Rooster, an old friend of mine. They’re both naval aviators.”
“Rooster?” You ask, looking up confused.
“Ah, sorry, that’s his callsign,” she laughs, “his real name is Bradley; you can call him either. You’re more than welcome to join us.”
“Thanks for the offer, but I’ve gotta let my dog out. I haven’t found anyone to walk him yet; I’m pretty sure he’d be fine all day but I’m staying at an Airbnb until my apartment is ready in a few weeks so I don’t want to risk any accidents,” you reply. It’s the truth, but you’re still unsure and uneasy about a lot of things.
“Understandable,” she replies, “the offer stands if and when you want to.”
“Thank you,” you reply with a smile of your own.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Some friends of mine are having a get-together for the 4th at their house on the beach,” Dr. Kerner says at the end of the first day, “you’re more than welcome to come if you’d like.”
“You don’t have to answer right now,” she continues when you clam up, “and there’s no pressure, either. You can say no.”
The rising tension inside you falls when she gives you a choice.
“I’ll think about it,” you answer truthfully, “if that’s okay?”
“Of course. There’s no rush; Penny will be plenty of food and drinks either way,” she gives you a reassuring smile as she picks up her keys. “Have a good night, I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Thanks,” you smile back, “you too.”
•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>
The next few weeks pass quickly and June turns to July.
You were still in the rental and hadn’t had lunch with Dr. Kerner yet, but you could feel yourself slowly opening up to her.
“See ya after lunch,” she calls as you pick up your keys to head out, “tell Hank I said hi.”
“I will,” you laugh, “be back in a bit.”
•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>•<•>
Something is off when you unlock the door to the rental.
Hank, who’s normally asleep on the bed, is restlessly pacing.
“What’s up, buddy?” You ask, crouching to kiss him.
He’s distracted though, aggressively sniffing the welcome mat.
“Gotta go potty?” You ask, grabbing his leash, “Let’s go.”
He sits down right beside you when you get to the grass, sniffing the air and looking around.
“C’mon bud, go potty,” you coax.
He eventually takes a few steps to do his business but comes right back when he’s done.
“I’ll see you in a bit, okay? Be a good boy,” you murmur as you close the door while he stands there and watches, again so unlike him.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
“Hey,” Dr. Kerner says when you come back from lunch, looking down at her phone, “the last patient canceled, so we’ll be done early today. How was Hank?”
“Acting a little weird, but good,” you reply, brow furrowed, “he’s usually asleep when I get home, but he was up and pacing by the door. I thought he had to go potty really bad but he didn’t go without some coaxing. Who knows, probably just heard a squirrel or something.”
“Probably,” she agrees, her tone giving away that it doesn’t sit right with her.
It doesn’t sit right with you either.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
After saying goodbye to Dr. Kerner, you head home a few hours later.
Hank is again, or still, by the door.
You order food to be delivered while he eats his, sitting down on the couch with a beer while you wait.
You mull it over in your head before pulling your phone out to compose a text.
Shae: Hey Dr. Kerner, I’ve thought it over. I’d be happy to join you tomorrow if the offer still stands.
But there’s a knock at the door before you send it.
You rise to your feet, Hank gets up too, surprising you as he growls in your presence for the first time.
“It’s okay, just the delivery driver,” you coo before calling, “just a minute,” as you grab some cash for a tip.
“Wow, that was fast-“ you start to say as you open the door, but your head whips to the side. You hear the sharp slap to your cheek and eye before the pain can register.
The force of his backhand knocks you back a step and Chad follows you, gripping your arm so tightly you cry out in pain. He’s full of rage, his breath reeks of bourbon as spits in your face, “You think you can divorce me?! After everything I’ve done for-FUCK!”
Chad screams when Hank latches onto his clothed arm with a low growl. The force of his lunge pushes Chad back into the doorframe but you grab Hank’s collar to haul him off before he sinks his teeth into something more vital.
“Leave,” you say, voice shaking and barely audible over Hank’s snarls, “now.”
“This isn’t over,” he says, holding his arm as he takes taking a step back, “and that dog is dead.”
You slam the door closed behind him, locking it before falling to the floor with a sob.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Hank lays down beside you, setting his head in your lap as he senses your distress. “You’re such a good boy,” you whisper, stroking his soft fur.
But he starts to growl again a few minutes later when a loud knock startles you both.
“San Diego PD, open up.”
You hold Hank’s collar as you crack the door to verify. “Just a minute, I’m going to put my dog in the bedroom; he’s a little worked up.”
The host of the AirBnb shows up shortly after, holding the bag of your forgotten food.
Adrenaline wearing off, your face begins to throb in time with his fingerprints on your arm as you explain what happened to the officers. You feel numb as they take pictures of your injuries, but you don’t hold much hope when the officers say they’ll find him.
The Airbnb host gives you more bad news before leaving too.
You try to compose yourself as you start to pack but hopelessness of the situation begins to set in, and you feel suddenly feel completely overwhelmed. Your thoughts begin to race before you pick up the phone; feeling as if you have no other choice but to turn to the only person that might help.
Your heart races as the line rings.
“Shae?” she answers, “what’s up?”
There’s faint music in the background.
“Hi Dr. Kerner,” you say, trying to sound calm, “I’m so sorry to bother you.”
“Please, call me Reese,” she reminds you gently, “you’re not bothering me. Is everything okay?”
“No,” your voice breaks, “it’s not. Chad…my ex, he found me.”
“Where are you? Is he there now?” She asks, anxious now.
“No, he took off when Hank bit him,” you sniff, zipping one of your packed suitcases closed, “I’m still at the Airbnb, packing my stuff.”
“Okay,” she sighs, her relief evident until your last words sink in, “Okay. Packing your-wait, why are you packing?”
“The police came a few minutes after he left; one of the units heard the commotion. The unit owner came while I was giving my statement,” You answer, walking down the short hallway to the living room, “I guess the other tenants complained to him and are scared-understandably so-but said I needed to be out…tonight.”
“Oh Shae,” she says, “I’m so sorry. Let me come help you?”
“Okay.” Both of you are surprised when you agree.
“I’m at the Hard Deck-which is a bar-with Jake and Bradley. Oh shoot, I forgot we rode together. Hang one sec,” she pauses, “I’ll order an Uber.”
“They can come too,” you say, more anxiety setting in as you look at the clock, “if they want to, I mean. I…I think I need all the help I can get. I’ve got to be out in about an hour.”
“Okay,” she says, murmuring something before coming back on the line, “they’re happy to help, Shae. Text me the address, we’re getting in the truck now.”
“I will, oh…” you cringe when you catch a glimpse of your reflection in the mirror above the couch. Your right eye is bloodshot from the trauma, below on your cheek is puffy and still red, and his fingerprints already purpling your arm. It’s nothing compared to last time, but it’s still startling, “and Reese? I should warn you, I look…rough.”

Hey!! I was wondering if you are taking requests.
If you are, then. Couln you please write and Father Aizawa x daughter in which she is like really really depressed and he is sick worried for her?
Thankss 🤍🤍
Hello! thx for requesting! I'm not sure if you wanted a little story like a drabble or headcanons so I'm just going to default to do a mix of both. I also wrote it with clinical depression in mind I hope that's okay.
TW; clinical depression, angsty shit, I wrote about the symptoms of depression here: if you have multiple of these symptoms please consider getting diagnosed by a doctor. Aizawa had depression, fem reader.
Tumblr media
Aizawa never was good with emotions, he was never the one to express his feelings because he never exactly needed to. Aizawa wouldn't exactly talk to her at first, instead opting to see it as her having an off day.
however, the weeks flew by and he saw less and less of her around the dorms, her friends who once talked to forever never seemed to see her anymore, and her smile. her smile had now been replaced with dead eyes and a soul corrupt.
another week, when disrupted she would bite back. her usual reply to the question "how are you today?" was once "wonderfully really!" about now it was either a comment overflowing with sarcasm or a harsh "leave me alone."
she then start to bounce her leg a lot more, scratch her arms, and doom-scroll on her phone like a life line rather than train to be a hero like she would during her previous years at UA or read her favorite book genres.
and the dead look in her eyes told him everything.
he too had that look in his eyes in his life too.
he had the tattoo of a semicolon with a heart to show for it.
it was the dead of night when he finally approached her, the sun had set and the stars that night felt as dull as her mind. the blinding white lights of the kitchen remain on as she wept amongst her sorrows. sleep deprived eyes turned redder than they already are from the sting of her never ending tears.
she did not deserve this.
the air was cold in that room, clammy hands shaking didn't help much either.
Aizawa said nothing when he saw the slight before him,
he had done the same at one point too.
this situation was delicate glass, for the person before him was not the strong girl he "knew". this was the soft, misshapen, confused, and scared blob that no longer had the hard and heavy armor to protect her.
he wanted nothing more to hug her when she looked at him with scared eyes and a tear stained cheeks.
"Aizawa Sensei I-" she started, the voice cracks made it all the more pitiful.
"I came to get water." his voice unwavering, there was only room for one mentally unstable person in that tiny kitchen and he loved her too much to take the position of being the one crying.
he felt bad, he knew that feeling of either being empty or being overridden with that burden in your heart you don't know the name of. a constant reminder of doom that has your heart in a choke hold.
but this was still as fragile as anything.
he poured himself a glass of water,
the tension was thick and odd.
he sat down,
he could practically feel the labored breaths she took, the shaking, the empty feeling in her chest. like she was dying and from the inside out. the crying must have taken a toll on her too for her cheeks were red from the tears.
he sat next to her, sitting in front of her may make her feel like he was going to scold her.
"would you like to talk about it?"
"...please... no... I don't think I can..." it was hard to believe this was the voice of the girl he remembered so fondly as his favorite student.
I suppose even the moon has a dark side.
"okay, you need to though." voice steady like a rock you trust never to crumble.
"what?" her voice quivering.
"It know it's hard,
I know it's going to take a while,
but you can succeed,
just please let me help you."
the room went silent for a moment, he passed you the glass of water.
"drink, tomorrow, you are spending your day with Hound Dog, you don't have to talk with him about this specifically, just talk with him until we can understand what is actually happening. you need someone to talk to. you can bail at anytime."
"what is happening to me though? I- I don't know anymore."
he knew that feeling so well.
"I'm not entirely sure," those words came from his heart. "but I'm willing to help you through it. we can take you to a psychiatrist to know for sure."
"...okay."
Aizawa got up, pushing the glass towards you again, excessive crying often leads to dehydration. and he started doing what his mother would do, he started prepping fruits, in this case it was oranges. he lined them all up on a plate, smiling a little at the thought of waking up from a nightmare as a child and defaulting to devouring blueberries.
he put them in front of you, started speaking as a usual person would, about stupid criminals he had recently put behind bars and crazy super fans that created elaborate photo shopped photos of him and them for social media.
for the first time in a while
the phrase
"are you okay?"
wasn't even mentioned.
for the first time in a while
she felt human.
----------
edit: while writing this I noticed I had a lot of the symptoms, so I went to the doctor and turns out it wasn't just burn out it was severe depression! and asthma apparently...

TAKING WHAT'S HIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word count: 1,462
Warnings: MINORS DNI 18+. Smut. Teasing Bucky
Tumblr media
Today was the day that you were going to tease Bucky. But not in the normal way. Whenever you and Bucky are together, you are always the one to touch his arm or rest your hand on his chest or even play with his hair, and he absolutely loves it. But you want him to make the first move. He's so sweet and caring and doesn't want to overstep. Bucky has already left to meet Sam and Steve to work out at the gym, so you get out of bed and head into the shower where you use his favorite body wash of yours. You're still in the shower when he gets home and he immediately smells the body wash. He comes to the bathroom door and knocks gently "Hey, babe, just got back. I'll get some coffee started"
Getting out of the shower and dry yourself off and apply some lotion. Deciding not to wear a bra, you pull on some white lace panties and put on Bucky's red Henley top. Walking out to the kitchen, you see him taking some cups out of the cupboard. "Hi baby, how are the boys?" Moving up beside him but trying not to take any notice of him. When he turns his head seeing you, your hair still wet, and wearing nothing but his Henley top and panties, he almost drops the cups. "H- hey um, the guys are fine. They both say hi" "Aw, that's sweet! We should have a movie night and order some take out" Leaning over reaching for something making your shirt ride up over your ass.
Bucky starts to stutter over his words. "Um, yeah, we- we could do that" "Yeah, it will be fun! Can I have my cup please?" He's just staring at you. "Bucky?" "Oh yeah, sorry baby" He hands it to you and you get your coffee and sit at the table. Bucky sat beside you but his eyes followed a water drop that came off your wet hair and ran down your neck, your chest, and down in between your breasts. "Bucky? Bucky are you listening to me?" "Huh? Sorry baby what did you say?" "I said we'll have to pick a night for the movie night. I was thinking maybe next week?" "Yeah that sounds good doll, I'll let them know" You smile over at him pulling your cup up to your lips and smirking behind it.
Later in the day the two of you were sitting on the couch together but you were usually all over him but this time you stayed on your side alone. "You don't wanna sit with me, baby?" He asks. "I'm okay over here baby" "You sure? You want a foot massage or something?" "Thank you for the offer baby but I'm okay ." You smile over at him and turn your attention back to the TV but you can feel his eyes on you. Looking at your soft legs. Your warm skin. The smell of your body wash and shampoo. He pulls one of the couch cushions into his lap hugging it. "Are you okay Bucky?" "Yeah I'm fine just wanted to hug something I guess" "Aw Buck" But of course that wasn't true, he was getting hard thinking about your soft skin, your legs, having them wrapped around his waist.
It was killing you to not touch him but you wanted him to just take you. As it was getting a little late, you decided to head to bed. Feeling defeated that you couldn't get Bucky to lose his mind but there is always tomorrow. When you were leaving the living room you said good night to him but didn't kiss him. You let your shirt ride up showing your ass and your lace panties off. As soon as you were in the bedroom, Bucky let out the breath he was holding and collapsed onto the couch. His mind was racing. His cock was rock hard and wasn't going to go down anytime soon. He stayed up trying to think of something else but all that was on his mind was you. He needed to be close to you. Bucky goes to the bedroom door looking in at you sound asleep in bed.
You woke up a little when you felt the bed dip but didn't move. Bucky lays beside you, pressing his chest against your back and breathing in the smell of your shampoo. His hand moves over your hip and down along your ass. You're not wearing any panties anymore and it makes him moan a little dropping his head into the crook of your neck. In your head, you're shouting "GO ON BUCKY TAKE WHAT'S YOURS!". You feel him move away for a moment, taking his boxers off and pressing his chest against your back again. His cock is rock hard against your ass as he moves it against you. In your sleepy state, you call out for him "James? Jamie?" He kisses along your neck, "I'm sorry baby, I'm so sorry. I just need you" Slipping your hand in between your legs, you feel the tip of his cock and you start to rub it.
Feeling him pant against the shell of your ear. His hand gripping onto your hip, hoping there will be marks left to look at later. "Take me, James, take what's yours" He rests his head against the back of yours as you help him line up at your entrance. The moan that comes from his mouth isn't like any moan you've heard from him before as he slowly pushes inside you. You let out a low moan while his cock stretches you. You start to rub your clit in small slow circles. His arm comes from underneath you. His metal hand closes around your wrist pulling it away from your clit. His other hand coming around your body, up over your breasts, and wrapping his hand around your throat. He rests his head against your ear, everything is still for a moment and then he spoke in a low tone. "Mine" His hips start to move slowly, making your breath hitch every time he pushed fully inside you.
"I'm glad you finally come to your senses baby, it's been tough teasing you all day. You're such a gentleman" "No more teasing baby" He whispers as he pulls his cock almost all the way out. "I'm gonna take what's mine from now on and this pussy is all mine" He slams back into you with force, making you almost scream "Yes James all yours! Please ruin me" His grip tightens around your neck as he bites into your shoulder. His cock slipping out of you and slamming back in making you bounce up on the bed and almost lose your breath. His pace getting faster, and he's getting lost in you. "Pussy feels so fucking good baby doll, it's all mine isn't it. Tell me!" "It's yours, James, it's all yours! God, you fuck me so good!" "That's it, baby, taking my cock so well, squeezing me so tight! Fuck! Driving me crazy!"
Bucky's head falls into the crook of your neck and his movements become sloppy. He's getting close. "You gonna cum baby? Gonna fill me with your seed? Make me all round and full with your baby?" "Fuck! Yes, baby! Gonna fill you to the brim with my cum. Not gonna let any of it drip out. Oh fuck! Squeezing me so much baby girl" "I'm- I'm gonna cum baby fuck yes!" You moan as you cum all over his cock. You can hear the sloppy sounds of his cock slamming into you from all your juices. It makes Bucky cum moments later, he's moaning and cursing in your ear as his cock and his cum fill you up. His hand moves from your neck to your chest holding you against him as you both pant. Turning your head to the side to kiss him passionately.
Both of you stay in the same position all night making sure his cock never slips out of you. When you wake early in the morning you don't feel Bucky around. Sitting up, you feel wet under you. Looking down and seeing a big wet patch where you must have leaked out when Bucky left. Looking up at the door you see him "Where did you go Bucky?" "Had to use the bathroom sweetheart. What's wrong?" "I- I uh leaked and wet the bed" "Aw that's okay doll," He says climbing back onto the bed kissing you and laying you back down. "I'm just going to have to fill you up again," He says with a smirk on his face making you laugh. "I won't say no to that handsome"

Tumblr media
You’ve been waiting for Friday all week. You need this. A girl’s night, just you and Melanie, a bottle of wine, a bowl of popcorn, and your favourite nostalgic blockbuster. You even got a brand new pair of cozy jammies for the occasion.
And it’s your first official get together at your new apartment. Your very own. No more roommates, no more arguments over dishes and dust and a shared bathroom. It’s all yours! It’s almost like a housewarming, even if it is just a bachelor suite.
A new home, a new city, and an old friend. You haven't seen Melanie in years. You keep in touch here and there but she always seems to have so much going on. Now you're in the same place, it won't be so hard.
You bounce in the door, excited to get started on your prep. You leave your work bag in the entryway beside your shoes as your mind runs a mile ahead of you. You’ll fold out the futon couch and throw all your pillows on it. And the extra comforter can go on top. And you’ll put a scarf over the lamp, oh, and you got some candy for the spread.
It’s a bit childish but it’s been so long since you could just throw away your daily toil and forget. No overtime, no grind, just a night to reconnect and refresh. You grab your bag from the short hallway and take out the clay masks you bought at the drugstore on your way home, you thought that would be so cute!
You pull out your phone and search for the digital rental on your account, wanting it ready to cast as soon as Melanie’s there. Your screen suddenly lights up with an incoming call, interrupting your browsing. You answer, excitedly greeting your best friend.
“Melly Bean,” you chime, “I was just getting everything ready”
“Oh, really?” Her voice is willowy, “that’s… I’m sorry.”
“What?” You clutch your hand in front of your stomach, your chest filling with dread. You know that tone.
“I totally forgot and I made other plans–”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, I know, it’s shitty but I really can’t cancel and we can do it next week, right? I’ll host. I have a bottle of rose here, or I could make some sangria–”
“Uh, yeah,” you feel like you’ve been punched, “yeah, sure, that’s… that’s fine. Things happen.” You shake your head at yourself as you try to stem your disappointment, “good thing I didn’t even get started…” You look at the futon, covered in pillows and the fluffy pink duvet, “I actually just got in the door, long day at work–”
“You ready?” A distant, deep voice creeps under your rambling from the speaker.
“Sorry, I gotta go,” she interrupts, “I’ll call you tomorrow, okay? Again, I’m sorry. I’m so stupid. I should’ve put it in my calendar.”
“No, no, it’s fine,” you assure her softly, “call me. Talk later, Mel–”
The line dies before you can finish your sentence. You pull the phone away and frown at the timed out call. You sniff and toss it onto the futon. Well, you can still have a good night. Alone. Catch up on a show and pamper yourself. Your skin is getting a bit patchy.
Or just lay here and watch the same thing you watch every night. Suddenly, you have no energy. You flop onto the mattress, the metal frame creaking loudly, and sigh. Another lazy night, all by yourself.
🏙️
Melanie doesn't answer your call on Saturday. You try not to dwell on it but you know she's not working. Her nine-to-five keeps her planted at her desk Monday to Friday, just like you. Well, you can't be mad at her for having a life.
She texts on Sunday. Just a short but sweet confirmation for next Friday. A heart emoji along with a promise that you'll see each other then. You can bring all your snacks and the face masks, and even your cute new pajamas. Her place must be a lot nicer than yours on her executive assistant salary.
A new week begins but Monday isn't as difficult as usual. You have something to look forward to. Again. This time, it will actually happen.
You spend your days with the spreadsheets and menial reports. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday all blend together into an endless slog but Friday comes around with a special shine. It's the day.
You breeze through the day, lighter than usual. You even packed everything up so you could commute straight to Melanie's place. She's been texting, saying she's excited. Well, she sent a message at 10:38am.
It'll be just like in high school, when you sat up all night and giggled. Except this time, you're not too young for the movie you're watching. No, you'll be just like the metropolitan women you watched on the screen, gal pals!
You take the twelve out towards the east side of the city and get off a few blocks from her building, at least according to your GPS. You walk in a full circle before you get your bearings and end up just outside the grated door. You tap the small button to buzz her number and wait. It's a lot fancier than your apartments.
You ring several times without answer, your stomach swimming with nerves. What if she got caught up in something? Could she forget in the  eight hours since her last message? Are you in the wrong place? You check the address again.
You hear someone come up the walkway and sidle aside to let them in. You consider sneaking in after them but you don't know if you should. They might not like that or you might get in trouble. You stand back as the man glances at you and gives a nod. He keys in a code and buzzes himself in. You scrunch your lips, helplessly floundering on the edge of the steps.
"Coming in?" He holds the door.
"Oh, uh," you catch the handle, "sure, I just... my friend wasn't answering."
"No worries, don't look like much of a criminal to me," he kids.
You chuckle quietly, forcing it out nervously as you follow him inside. The entryway is white with silver trimmings and the lobby opens up to a set of two elevators. You look at your phone again, confirming Melanie's apartment number. The man strides on confidently and hits the button, the doors dinging and sliding apart.
"Going up?" He prompts as he puts his hand in front of the censor.
"Uh, sure," you scurry forward. You suppose taking the stairs might be a lot with all the weight in your knapsack.
"Floor?" He trails you into the elevator.
"Um, seventh."
"Ah, what a coincidence," he taps seven and the doors close.
You bring up your chat with Melanie and text her. Hopefully, you're not too early. You don't want to surprise her. You key in that you're there and on your way up.
The door open again and the stranger once more lets you through first. You check the numbers on the plates on the wall; 700 - 710 to the right. You turn and the man heads in the same direction. How awkward. You hold the door to the hallway for him and he catches it, not far behind you. You count the doors until you find 704.
You stop and knock, stepping closer to let the stranger pass. He doesn't. He stops and laughs as he rubs his palms together. You peek over at him. Oh shoot, you have to be in the wrong place. It explains the no answer and you're standing at his door knocking. You must seem like a crazy person--
The door opens before you can figure out what's going on and Melanie's 'hello' goes from a high squeal to dull disappointment. You look at her as her eyes flit between you and the stranger at your shoulder. She laughs and tosses her hair back.
"Oh, uh, come in," she waves you inside, "movie night, right?"
She rubs her neck as she steps aside, your stomach flipping entirely. Did she forget? Really?
"Um, I forgot to mention..." she says slowly, "Clark's joining us. He's never seen the movie before so I thought..."
"That's fine, but er, I can... just go. I thought..."
"I didn't forget," she insists as the man enters with hesitation, "promise, I just... invited my boyfriend."
"Right, boyfriend," you turn to the stranger, Clark, she said his name is, "hi."
You introduce yourself and he repeats his name. He's handsome and tall. As far as you can tell, he's nice too. The cleft in his chin gives him a rugged handsome news and his eyes a bright and blue. He fits Melanie perfectly. She's changed a lot more than you knew.
You give a strained smile and look around. Her apartment is so nice. You're happy she hadn't seen yours after all. As you try to figure out what to do, she approaches Clark and stands on her toes to kiss him. You keep your eyes on the floor and turn, distracting yourself with your shoes as you peel them off.
"I brought snacks," you say as you unhook your bag from one shoulder, "for the movie--"
"Oh, I'm on a diet. No carbs, no sugar... mostly water and lettuce," she trills, "sorry."
"I...It's okay," you try not to wince as you struggle to free yourself of the heavy bag.
"Here," Clark startles you as he grabs your bag by the handle on top and helps lift it off your left shoulder. You pull your arms free and he carries it to the table, planting it on top beside the tall vase of white orchids.
"Thanks," you say as you inch forward, anxious about messing up the unlivable pristine apartment, "you can share the snacks... if you're not on a diet."
"I'd love to," he accepts, "should I make up the couch?"
"Uh, sure," Melanie flutters her fingers at him, "I guess that makes sense."
You notice how she bites into her glossy lower lip and looks around desperately. She's wearing a pretty black dress and there's a sparkly clutch on the half-circle table by the wall. You thought Melanie would be your one piece of home in the city but now you feel even more out of place. Uninvited.
"If it's a bad time," you begin.
"I told you," she snips, "I didn't forget. Duh, you think I'm an airhead or something?"
"N-no--"
"I know you went and got your fancy degrees," she sniffs, "but I don't need paper to tell me I have a brain."
"I didn't mean--"
"Mel, cool it," Clark chuckles lightly, "no biggie. I like a night in," he shrugs, "I'll grab some blankets and pillows. We can have a sleepover."
"Sleepover?" She nearly hisses at him, "well, tomorrow--"
"We'll all sleep in and I'll take you ladies to breakfast. Or brunch," he unzips your knapsack and takes out the tall bottle of wine, "depending on how much you indulge."
"Oh, I can take care of all that," you offer as you near the table.
"You're our guest," he insists as he holds onto the bottle, "hon, you wanna get some glasses?"
You hear the gentle sigh escape Melanie before she replies, "fine."
You wring your hands in front of your chest and hover by the table. You hate this. You feel like you've intruded on their night but you thought...
Your heart sinks as you think of the message; 'looking forward to tonight'. She sent it to the wrong person. She must realise that too.
"Mel will pour us some wine," Clark says loudly, "did you wanna help my grab some blankets and stuff?"
You just nod, thankful for his diversion. Anything to keep you from wallowing in your embarrassment. Everyone there knows you're not supposed to be there. You must seem pathetic.
You follow him down the hall and wait on the other side of the closet door as he opens it. He hands you a folded down duvet. He sends you back to the living room as he goes to grab pillows from the bedroom. You get a glance of the sleek white vanity just as he opens the door.
You turn and traipse back to the front room. You go to the couch and shake out the blanket. You glance over as Melanie slurps loudly from a stemmed glass, the other two are unpoured.
"Really, Mel, I can just go--"
"No, it's fine," she huffs, "I don't want him to think I'm some sort of bitch."
"Oh, I wasn't--"
"You don't call to confirm?" She accuses.
"I texted and I buzzed--"
She shushes you as she hears Clark coming back down the hall. You leave the blanket across the sofa and go to the table. You pour the other two glasses and step back, too uneasy to claim one of your own. Instead, you busy yourself unpacking the snacks but you don't even know if you'll have any yourself.
"You girls sit," Clark insists as he drops the pillows on the sofa, "I'll get everything ready. Oh, hon, you should go put some pajamas on, get in the spirit. You could lend some to your friend too."
"Erm, I brought my own," you offer, "just... thought they were cute."
"Amazing, you two get changed, get cozy, and get the movie going," he grabs the bag of chips from your hands, "oh, and I'll get those kernels popping."
You nod and swallow as Melanie struts out without looking back. You retrieve your pajamas from your bag, brushing close to Clark by accident, and apologise. You quickly flit away to follow her, chasing after her right before she can close you out. You need to find an excuse to get out. Then you can think of how to say sorry for spoiling her date,

you're not alone (arsenal x teen reader)
Tumblr media
I'm back! very sorry pt2 took so long but thank you for waiting :) there will be a pt3 (wouldn't mind people sending some ideas of how it should go) which will try to get done in the next week or 2. anyways, enjoy!
warnings: eating disorders, illusions to throwing up, angst with some fluff at the end (pls let me know if I've missed anything)
proofread: sort of
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The warm water trickled down your body. You were sat in the shower, eyes staring at the tiled floor. Your fingers had started to grow soft and wrinkly. You don’t know how long you had been in there, lost in your own thoughts about dinner tonight. What would you order, what would you wear, would people judge?
Team dinners were nights you use to enjoy, nights filled with fun and laughter, but that was before everything. Now you just felt uncomfortable and awkward, never knowing what to do with yourself. You hadn't attended a team dinner, or any team bonding's that involved food, for a good while. Always coming up with some excuse as to why you couldn’t attend.
Beth and Viv had insisted that you go to this one though, leaving no room for arguments.
You slowly stood up turning the hot water off. Grabbing a towel and heading straight for your room, slamming the door behind you.
Viv flinched at the sound, looking towards Beth who was sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket with Myle. Walking over, she placed a soft kiss on top of the older girl's forehead, sitting down next to her. Beth smiled in return, resting her head on top of Viv shoulder as a comfortable silence filled the room.
The two hadn't talked to you about what happened today, both wanting to wait till tomorrow; when you all had the day off, to bring it up with you. They weren't sure how to go about it, both scared at how you will react, will you accept that you need help? Or will you deny what they both knew was clearly happening and sink further in to the walls that you had slowly started to put up.
The comfortable silence was soon interrupted by your loud footsteps coming down the stairs. They both turned in your direction and taking in your form, you didn’t look great if they were being honest, you looked tired, your lips were chapped, skin pale and dark eyebags plagued your face, you looked sick.
You stood there, awkwardly holding a hairbrush in your right hand and a hair tie in your left.
“Would one of you be able to brush my hair please” your voice was hoarse and scratchy, standing there fiddling with the hair tie between your fingers waiting for an answer.
“OfCourse love” Beth said, sitting up straight from Viv's arms, lightly patting the floor Infront of her.
A small smile graced your face as you mumbled a quiet thanks and shuffled your way towards her. sitting down with your legs crossed handing her both the hair tie and brush.
As Beth started to slowly detangle the ends of your hair, your mind started to wonder again. You thought about the events that took place earlier that day and guilt quickly started to spread across your body. Why had you yelled at Caitlin like that? All she was doing was checking in on you and you had gone and snapped at her Infront of your teammates.
“I'm sorry about today” you whispered out. Beth stopped her movements for a brief second before continuing as she spoke.
“it's okay love, but it's not us you need to be apologizing to” She was almost surprised, not expecting you to apologize so fast.
“I'll apologize to her tonight, it's at her and katies places, isn't it?” you asked, turning around to see both women nodding their heads.
It was silent again after that. The only sounds coming from your tangled hair as Beth tried to run the brush threw it as gently as she could, not wanting to hurt you. You sat like that for at least half an hour while picking at your nails; an unhealthy habit you had picked in your early teen years.
“How do you want your hair liefde?” Viv asked while switching spots with Beth. Viv had always been better at doing hair, she braided it for you on most game days, but she wasn’t as gentle as Beth when it came to brushing out the tangles.
“Just a half up half down, please”
Viv nodded and got straight to work. As soon as your hair was finished you rushed up stairs to put on outfit, opting for a pair of baggier jeans and your arsenal hoodie. Both the older women waiting for you by the door, Viv jiggling the car keys in her hand.
“Ready to go then?”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Katie and Caitlin's house were already packed with cars out the front when you arrived, with most of your team already there. You got out of the car and waited for Beth and Viv before walking up to the front door and knocking 3 times.
You stood behind Beth as Caitlin opened the door, ushering you all in and giving each of you a short hug. Beth and Viv both made their way to the living room, Caitlin quick to follow them but before she left, she felt your hand clutch around her Rist.  She turned and looked towards were you held her Rist with furrowed eyebrows and then back to you.
“I- uh sorry” you said while dropping her hand “I just wanted to apologize for today, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that Infront of everyone. I was in a horrible mood today which isn't an excuse, but I still wanted to apologize” you rambled as you played with the sleeves of your hoodie, eyes looking anywhere but at Caitlin, feeling too guilty to look her in the eye.
“Hey, it's okay, I get it we all have bad days” she pulled you into another hug “thank you for apologizing though.”
The two of you walked into the living room where everyone was spread out. Your eyes searched the room trying to find Beth or Viv, they soon settled on Beth who was arguing with Krya over what movie they were going to watch during dinner, Lessie being stuck between the two girls.
“you two are children, honestly” she said while snatching the remote out of their hands and putting on Beths choice. You walked over and sat next to Beth, resting your hand on her shoulder.
“where's Vivi?” you looked up towards her.
“She in the kitchen helping with dinner, pretty sure were having some form of pasta and salad.”
You gulped at the thought, you hadn't eaten pasta in a while and the thought of eating it in front of the team made a shiver go down your spine.
Maybe you could just have the salad? That won't hurt, you thought while picking at your nails, Beth took notice and grabbed your hands.
“You know, you always complain about how your nails never grow yet you still continue chew them off every chance you get” she let out a soft chuckle “what's on your mind love.”
“I apologized” was all you said to the women. You felt her lightly kiss the top of your head before pulling you into a little side hug.
“Good job, I'm very proud of you” her words brought a genuine smile to your face, Beth was always good at that, even on your toughest days she always seemed to find a way to but a smile on your face, even if it was just a small one.
“Alright everyone dinners ready! Come and serve ya selves” the soft moment was interrupted by katies loud voice calling out to everyone.
You all made your way over to the kitchen, grabbing bowls and plates, everyone putting the food of their choice on their plates. As you went to grab your own you were stopped by someone calling your name, turning around to find Viv already holding a bowl out for you.
“I got all your favorites” she said with a smile while handing it to you. She was right, it did contain all your favorite, cheesy pasta, 2 pieces of garlic bread and a bit of Caeser salad. You mumbled a thank you while walking back towards the couch and squishing yourself as far as you could into the corner of it.
You moved your food around with your fork for a bit before bringing a small amount up to your mouth, hand shaking slightly, you took a deep breath hesitating slightly as you put it in your mouth, chewing slowly. You could feel the tears well in your eyes as you took another small bite, hands getting shakier and shakier every time you brought the fork to your mouth. You felt a tear fall down your face slightly, quickly bringing a hand to wipe it before anyone notices it.
Someone did though. You didn’t know it, but you had several eyes watching you as you ate your food. Leah, Viv, Beth and Alessia had all been taking glances at you throughout dinner. Your shacky frame and tearful eyes didn’t go un-noticed by any of them.
As everyone got up to put their dishes in the sink, you took the opportunity to sneak off to the bathroom, leaving your half-eaten dinner on the arm of the couch.
You turned the light and fan on when you entered, locking the door behind you. As you kneeled in front of the toilet you tied the rest of your hair back taking a deep breath.
Alessia hadn't watched you go to the bathroom, but your absence didn’t go un-noticed by her as she looked towards your now empty spot of the couch and your barley eaten dinner left on the arm. She wasn’t sure where you had gone but she had small hunch she knew where shed fined you.
You jumped as you opened the door, almost falling to the ground, Alessia was standing right Infront of it with her fist raised ready to knock. She too jumped back surprised. She stood there awkwardly playing with her fingers starting at you, thinking over what she was about to say to you.
“Do you need the bathroom? Or…” you spoke breaking the awkward silence.
“Oh ah, no sorry” she took a small step back “I was just wondering where you went, you were gone for a little bit.”
“Well, I was in here, no need to worry” you gave her a tight-lipped smile while awkwardly raising your hands. You liked Alessia, you had only met her a few months ago when she signed for arsenal, but she was a kind girl and in the short time Shes been here she had already felt the need to look out for you as most of the girls did after they met you, perks of being the baby of the team.
“Look, I know you're sick of people asking this but are you sure you're, okay? You barely touched your food, and it looks like you’ve been crying” she tried to look at you in the eyes but yours were looking anywhere but her. “it's alright, you don’t have to talk to me about it, but I am here if anything's bothering you” she said while ducking her head down to finally meet your eyes with a soft, warm smile.
You took a deep breath “there's nothing to talk about, I just ate something before we got here, and it made me feel a little sick is all.’’ You picked at your nails while you talked.
A silence fell between the two of you again as she looked at you. She took in your watery eyes and the way the rest of your hair was tied behind your ears now.
“Can I go now?” you huffed.
She stood there for a moment contemplating whether or not to say the next words that were about to fall out of her mouth. You tried to get past her, but she stopped you with a hand on your shoulder.
“what's really going on y/n?” she questioned and when you didn’t answer she took it as an opportunity to push you a bit further. “Talk to me love”.
You don’t know why, maybe it was the comforting hand of your shoulder or the way she spoke so softly to you, but you felt tears well up in your eyes. She noticed to and quickly pulled you in the bathroom again and locked the door, pulling you in to a tight bear hug. That’s what really got you crying, your faced and Alessias jumper quickly getting soaked.
“it's okay” she was lacing her fingers through your hair, rocking you side to side in at a comforting pace.
“I'm sorry” you chocked out, burying your face into chest more while sobbing.
“You don’t have anything to be sorry for love, okay? I  ju-” she cut her self-off before continuing “we, just want to help you, okay? But we can't do that unless you tell us what's going on” she spoke, still playing with your hair softly.
“You won't be mad?” you sniffed, finally taking your head out of her chest and looking down at the tear-stained patch that was left behind.
“Never” she said while holding your face in her hands, gently wiping the tears away.
You fully pulled back from her now, moving over to sit on the toilet. You sat there for a while trying to gather your thoughts and were to start, your leg was bouncing up and down while you were lost in thought. A soft hand on your knee brought you back.
“Whatcha thinking?” she asked, her fingers rubbing soothing circles on your knee.
“I don’t know what to say” it came out as a whisper and if less wasn’t as close to as she was right now, she's sure she would have missed it. “Everyone just been so mean since I came back…I mean I knew I had gained a little weight, but I didn’t think it was that bad” you took a deep breath “but then everyone started pointing it out online, so I turned my comments off on Instagram but then they started saying stuff on our official Instagram and then on twitter and…” you trailed off.
“And what?” she pushed.
“I don’t know why I read them in the first place” your eyes started to sting again “it just started off with missing breakfast and few extra trips to the gym but no- now I can't stop” you broke down again, clutching on to the girl Infront of you as she wrapped her arms around you for a second time.
“I didn’t mean for it to go this far” you sobbed out.
“Shh, it'll all be okay, okay? We’ll get you the help you need alright love.”
“No!” you shot out of her grasp “no you can't tell anyone" You looked at her with pleading eyes.
“y/n, you can't keep doing this to yourself, it's dangerous, really fucking dangerous.” Her voice was stern this time “I've been in a similar position to, and I can assure you that I was not strong enough to perform at the level that we do, and if I wasn’t strong enough then you definitely aren't.” She sighed looking at your tear-stained face. “You need help y/n, I know it's scary to ask for it, but I promise you no one is going to judge you for needing it. We’re all worried about you love, Beth and Viv especially” you nodded with every word she said, just staring at the floor. You had never meant to worry Beth and Viv; you hated it when they worried about you.
“I’ll talk to them tomorrow” your voice was horsed and sore from crying.
“I'm so proud of you for saying something, I know that wouldn’t have been easy for you” less stood up bringing you up with her and pulling you into one more hug.
“you're not alone in this” she whispered.

“Get out of my room,” Nat laughed, causing you to jump a little. This was the first time anyone had ever kicked you out right after sex, but you obeyed. You grabbed your clothes off the floor and made your way to your own room. You fought off the tears that were threatening to fall, wanting to get in the shower first, just in case Nat came out of her room.
This was the third time the two of you fucked this week, and each time Nat was meaner than the last. You had no problem with it; you just wanted more than sex. But, if that was all you could have with the blonde, you would take it.
After your shower, you laid down, quickly drifting off to sleep in hopes that maybe Nat would want more tomorrow; although, deep down, you knew it was just wishful thinking on your end. And you hated yourself for it.
You woke up alone in the apartment, assuming that Nat had gone to a class of hers. You didn’t have any today, happy to have some time alone so you could think.
Dragging yourself out of bed, you grabbed some clothes and took a nice, long shower. You weren’t sure what you were going to do, sending a text to your group chat with Taissa and Van, asking if they wanted to do something. You had finished all your projects and assignments, so you had the whole day to yourself.
When you turned the water off, you heard the front door shut. You shook the thought away, deciding that you had left the TV on instead of pausing it like you thought you had. You got dressed and as soon as you opened the door, that’s when you heard it.
”Fuck, Lottie please,” Nat moaned, just as her bedroom door slammed shut.
You bit your lip, unsure of how to react. Did they think that you weren’t there? You decided to just grab your stuff and spend a few hours at the library. As you left your room with your things, you jumped when Nat stopped you.
“Where are you going?” she asked as you turned around to look at her.
You felt your face heat up when you noticed that she was naked. You bit your lip, trying to not look at her body. “I’m giving you and Lottie space,” was all you said, but Nat shook her head, opening the door of her bedroom so you could see Lottie, sitting at the edge of the bed completely naked.
“Now why would you leave when you could join?” Lottie smirked. “I’ve heard a lot about you and how you’re such a good girl for Nat.”
Your eyes widened, looking between the two of them. Was this another joke of Nat’s and Lottie was in on it? You took a deep breath, trying to calm your nerves as you sat your backpack on the ground.
Walking into Nat’s room, you jumped a little when she shut the door. “So… how are we going to do… this?”
Nat chuckled, licking her lips. “Strip.”
You do as you’re told, taking off your clothes and setting them on the ground in a pile.
“Good girl. Now get on your knees on the edge of the bed. Right in front of Lottie here,” Nat instructed.
Without a single thought, you do as she says, getting on your knees right in front of the brunette, who wore nothing but a very large strapon. It was a lot bigger than the one that Nat would use on you.
“Are you going to be a good girl for me? For Nat?” Lottie asked, leaning down so she was face level towards you, “Because if you think Nat can be mean, I can be meaner.”
You nodded in understanding before Lottie pushed your head down onto her strapon. You gagged as the tip of the strapon hit the back of your throat. You tried your best to relax, squeezing your eyes shut and breathing through your nose. You gagged again right as Lottie pushed you off her strapon.
“Nat can take my cock much better than that,” Lottie commented. ”Pathetic.”
“Watching her gag was the hottest thing I’ve seen,” Nat hummed, getting down on her knees right behind you. “Keep making her do it while I fuck her, Lot.”
“Wait-“ you began.
“What is it?” Lottie asked, her voice soft as she wiped the drool off your chin. “Everything okay?”
You nodded, “Just never…”
Lottie slapped you across the face, “Finish your sentence. Just because Nat’s about to fuck you doesn’t mean you can go stupid on me.”
“I’ve never done this before,” you whispered, looking down at Nat’s floor. Before you could elaborate, Nat pushed her entire strapon into your pussy.
“Oh-“ you cried out as she started at a rough pace. You had taken her strapon so many times, but you still weren’t used to the size right away. “Please!”
“Please what? What do you need from us?” Nat asked, breathing heavy as she continued to fuck you.
“Want your cock in my mouth again, Mo- Lottie.“ you begged, opening your mouth in hopes that Lottie would give you what you want.
“Yeah? You want my cock in your mouth again? Do you deserve it?” she asked. Lottie grabbed your throat to hold you in place as she brought her free hand to your mouth.
Lottie pushed two fingers into your mouth, she pushed them further down. You gagged as Lottie held her fingers in place. “You throw up on my fingers and you’ll regret it,” she threatened.
“Every time you make her gag she pushes out my cock,” Nat huffed, leaning down to wrap her arms around you. Biting your shoulder, she continued to fuck you - holding you in place as Lottie fucked your mouth with her fingers.
“Are you complaining, baby?” Lottie asked sternly.
Nat whimpered, shaking her head as she let go of you. “No, Mommy,” she moaned as Lottie leaned in to kiss Nat.
“Good girl,” Lottie praised, pulling away from the blonde to bring her focus back onto you. “I’m going to push my fingers down your throat one more time and then I’m going to give you my cock. Are you ready? Answer me.”
“Yes, Lottie,” you nodded.
Lottie held you in place with her fingers in your mouth, bringing her other hand up and slapping you across the face. “That’s not what you’re going to be calling me from now on when I’m fucking you. So correct yourself with my fingers in your mouth.”
You corrected yourself, trying your best to say “Yes, Mommy” with her fingers in your mouth.
“Hm,” Lottie hummed, fucking your mouth once more with her fingers. “You look so pretty with tears in your eyes. It almost makes me want to hurt you more; I can see why my girl over here likes you so much.”
“I told you,” Nat laughed, slapping your ass. “She’s so much fun to fuck with.”
“Yeah she is,” Lottie agreed.
She grabbed the back of your head with her free hand, holding you in place as she pushed her fingers down your throat. “You can gag, but remember what I warned you about,” she reminded you.
You gagged, the tears running down your face. Lottie removed her fingers, grabbing you by the neck and licking your tears off your cheeks. She licked her lips. “Your tears make me fuckin’ wet.”
Nat laughed, pulling out of you. You sat down on your ass, turning to look at the blonde who was taking off her strapon. “You don’t get to come this time,” she stated, grabbing a pair of handcuffs. “Do you want a pillow for your knees?”
You nodded and Lottie handed you one. Moving back onto your knees, you placed the pillow underneath you, so that you were more comfortable. “Hands behind your back,” Nat instructed.
You did as you were told, jumping as the blonde handcuffed your hands. The cold metal causing goosebumps to form on your skin. You bit your lip, looking between Nat and Lottie, unsure of what they were planning to do.
“You’re going to sit there and look pretty while Lottie fucks me,” Nat said as she looked at Lottie, who moved further onto the bed on her knees.
Nat climbed up onto the bed, getting on all fours right in front of Lottie. She turned to look at you, “If you grind we’re going to punish you, and you’re not going to like it.”
You nodded, watching as Lottie slipped a finger into Nat. “You’re so wet, and all for me, huh?” Lottie teased.
“Yes, Mommy, (Your Name) could never get me this wet - even if she tried,” Nat smirked, looking at you.
“Wait-“ you began, but Lottie shot you a warning look.
“You’re pathetic, (Your Name),” Lottie laughed, not bothering to look at you as she slid two more fingers into Nat’s pussy. “It’s honestly really cute. You’re not good enough to get anyone off so you’re just good for one thing.”
You hung your head, unsure of how to feel about what they were both saying to you. The ache between your legs was growing stronger as Lottie continued to speak.
You finally looked up just as the brunette slid her strapon into Nat. “Crawl closer,” Lottie said, not looking at you. You did as you were told as best as you could and as soon as you reached the edge of the bed, Lottie pulled out of Nat.
“Suck,” Lottie ordered, getting closer to you so that you could reach the toy. You wrapped your lips around it, taking as much as you could into your mouth. You hummed, wishing you could taste Nat more. Before you could enjoy it any longer, Lottie pulled it out of your mouth.
“I have a better idea,” Lottie commented. “Nat, help get (Your Name) on the bed.”
Nat got up and off the bed, helping you to your feet. The two of you looked over at Lottie, who had smirked at you.
“Lay her on her back,” she said. Nat did as she was told. “Are you comfortable? Do you need the handcuffs off?”
“I’m okay for right now, Mommy,” you said, trying your best to look at Lottie while you talked.
“Let us know if you need them taken off, okay?” Nat said.
You nodded.
Lottie bent down to kiss your forehead. “Good girl. Back into position.”
Nat got back on all fours on top of you. You licked your lips realizing now that Nat’s pussy was above your face. You lifted your head, giving her clit a light lick - causing Nat to spank your pussy.
“Who said you could do that?” Nat asked, slapping your thigh as she waited for you to respond.
“N- No one, I’m sorry,” you whispered.
“We’ll forgive you this-“ she cut herself off as Lottie slipped inside of her once more, “Time, next time it’ll be more than two slaps. Understand?”
You watched as Lottie fucked Nat, biting your lip as hard as you could - fighting off the urge to eat her out as she was getting fucked. You closed your eyes, feeling the mess Nat was making get on your face. You were close to coming just from that, but you held yourself back, unsure if it was allowed.
“Gonna come, Mommy,” Nat moaned.
You whimpered as Lottie sped up her movements, causing you to jump when she spoke up, “You want to help Mommy make Nat come? You wanna be useful?”
You nodded, “Yes, please.”
“Use that mouth of yours on Nat, then. Go on, be a good little slut and make Nat come with me.”
You wasted no time, alternating between licking and sucking her clit. Nat came quickly, falling on top of you, not bothering to move as Lottie pulled out of her. Nat got up, “So maybe your mouth isn’t as useless as we thought it would be.”
You licked your lips, “C- Can I come now?” you asked just as Lottie got off the bed.
Lottie got back on the bed between your legs, rubbing the tip of the strapon through your folds, “Do you want me to fuck you, baby?” she asked, her voice was soft as she pushed the tip in.
“Please, please, I’ll be good,” you pleaded, eyes widening in hopes she’d give in and give you what you want.
“No,” Lottie said, tapping your thigh before getting up from the bed. She helped you sit up, uncuffing you before letting you lay back down.
You huffed, looking up at the band poster that Nat had on her ceiling. You closed your eyes, a wave of tiredness hit you and all you wanted to do was sleep. The ache in between your legs was the only thing keeping you from drifting off.
You flinched as Lottie brought a wet washcloth to your thighs. “I’m just cleaning you up a bit while Nat gets a few things,” she explained, bringing the washcloth to your face. You closed your eyes as she wiped your spit and Nat’s cum off you.
Nat came back with three waters, handing one to Lottie and another to you. “You can leave my room now,” Nat said when you sat up, opening your water.
”Natalie,” Lottie warned. Nat rolled her eyes.
“You can stay and watch a movie with us.”

✿ PROMISE? ✿ PART NINE.
ʚ♡ɞ 𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓 | 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 | 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 | 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 ʚ♡ɞ
Tumblr media
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: chris x fem!reader
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: another invite to a party was not what you were expecting from your former crush…
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: SMOKING WEED, mention of intoxication, swearing
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 1,652
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞: you guys must hate me right now😂
i promise (lol) i’ll have a fic out soon! i’ve been struggling so that’s why i haven’t been as active, but i’ll try my best to be :)
Tumblr media
“𝐈’𝐌 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐘,” 𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐆𝐄 says, waving at the smoke that exits her mouth.
“paige, it’s fine. the pits were three weeks ago. i’m over it. i’m alive, aren’t i?”
she frowns with a nod. paige wanted to hang out with you today since you didn’t have anything going on, so you planned a sleepover with just the two of you. her dad is out of town with her brother, leaving her alone for a few days. you guys are sitting in her living room at the moment with the TV portraying a shitty netflix movie she clicked on, even though you aren’t paying attention to it.
after a second puff, she hands you the blunt. you inhale deeply, the smoke flowing through your body with ease. “anything new going on? more specifically chris related?” she smirks.
“no,” you reply, narrowing your eyes at the girl. you told her about what he did the night of the pits, and she's not letting go about how she thinks you like him.
you don’t.
“that’s boring.” she mumbles. “anything else? not chris related because you’re lame.”
“my cousins are coming tomorrow; my mom told me this morning. they’re staying with monica for a few weeks, who is their best friend since they’re close in age. she lives right next door to us.” you start, putting the blunt between your lips once more. “she’s a family friend i’ve pretty much known my whole life.
“hm.” she hums, falling silent and looking around the room before speaking again. “are you sure you don’t have at least a little feelings for chris?”
“no. we just started being friends again!” you argue. “ask that again and you’re earning a slap across the face.”
she laughs, adjusting herself to where she leans back on her elbows. “is that kevin butler texting? i remember you having the fattest crush on him when we were in middle school.”
confused, you stare at her to see she is looking at your lit-up screen on the coffee table. “shut up.” you snarl, rolling your eyes intensely. “i bumped into him at the pits.”
she gasps, sitting up as fast as lightning. not going to lie, it made you flinch a little. “do you like ryan again? or is this like a love triangle? now things are getting good.” she props herself on her knees to feed into the gossip.
“no, i don’t like kevin.” you say, which is somewhat of a lie.
“please, please, please answer it.” she begs, handing you the phone. you can tell the drug you two inhaled is starting to take over. you snatch the phone from her and open up the message.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“i hope you know i’m coming with you to that party,” paige says, peeking over your shoulder.
“chris is going to hate me.” you say lowly, locking the phone and placing it back where it was before.
she knits her eyebrows together. “why? he doesn’t control you.”
“i know, but i don’t want him to drag me to his house again.” you bite your lip to nibble on it. “that’s embarrassing.”
“chris doesn’t have to find out. you are your own person and you make your own decisions, no?” she says, patting you on the chest.
𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 afternoon the next day. when you get there, you see two recognizable cars in the driveway. you sprint up the stairs and enter through the front door, to be greeted by numerous voices overlapping each other. the pitter-patter of paws slam against the wood floors when you shut the door. “oh!” you say in a startle as chichi jumps onto his hind legs to put his front two on your thigh. his tail wags as he greets you with smothers and barks while you pat his head.
peering around the wall, chichi zooms back into the living room. your cousin bethany — who gave you your journal all of those years ago — and her husband dillon are sitting on the floor in front of where your mom and dad are seated. your other cousin amalia and her husband james are on the other couch, their six-year-old twins playing with toys on the coffee table. “y/n!” oliver, one of the twins, exclaims. he runs over to hug you.
“hello, people. fancy seeing you here,” you say, sitting on the floor alongside bethany and dillon.
when your mom said everybody, you thought she was exaggerating, but she meant everybody.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓, 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀𝐑𝐄 scurrying through your closet to try and find a perfect outfit for tonight. you usually don’t care about that certain thing, but you have a good feeling about kevin’s party in less than two hours. you groan loudly as your bedroom door opens. “is everything okay here?” bethany asks, peeking her head in.
you nod. “yes!”
“alright, then. i was sent to tell you that dinner’s ready.”
“i’m not eating right now. i’m going out soon.” you exhale sharply, still tearing your closet apart.
she raises a brow, intrigued. “where are you going?”
“out with friends.” you smile nervously, rubbing the sweat off of your hands on your pajamas, looking in the pile of clothes some more to see if a decent outfit will magically appear out of thin air. she gives you a suspicious look, checking to see if anybody is around before closing the door. “who’s the boy?”
“there is no boy.”
“you don’t get dressed up to ‘go out with friends’.”
you sigh in defeat. “fine. i was invited to this party and i want to dress nice, but all i have is bum sh— stuff; and i’m running out of time. the party is in less than two hours.”
she brings her finger up to her chin to think for a moment. you can see a lightbulb go off in her head. “let me make a call.” she pulls out her phone, her nails clicking against the screen. “monica works in fashion. she’ll have stuff to fit, i’m sure.”
speaking of the devil, monica appears at your house in minutes. it’s like you blinked and here she is, her tall figure kneeling in front of the bag she places down and pulls out two dresses. “you don’t seem like the type to wear fancy shit, so i brought these that i know you’ll look good in.”
the dress she is holding in her right hand is a red silky v-neck with stitched openings going up to the stitching that separates the chest from the bottom. the other one is a simple dress that is holographic. you tilt your head to think as you look from one to the other. “my mom is going to kill me if she sees me wearing one of these.”
she giggles, her long hair with blonde highlights falling over her shoulders when she does so. “oh, we got that covered.” she says matter of factly, pointing between her and bethany.
“hence why i am going to help you leave without her seeing, and covering up for you while you’re gone. you’re nineteen years old. you have to live a little, but safely. even if you have to lie from time to time.” bethany says, eyeing her best friend.
“just out of curiosity, does your mom know you snuck out?” you say because this plan seems too good to be true.
“oh, god, no. i’d still be grounded.” she shakes her head and you laugh out loud. “amalia and i used to have each other’s backs all the time when we were your age, younger, even. now, it’s time i have yours.”
you smile at that. she’s so cool, despite her being in her early thirties. amalia is a few years older. after some consideration, you point to the red dress. “that one.”
“good choice.” monica starts. “go to the bathroom and put it on.”
you get up from the floor and go to the restroom which is only a few feet away from your room. taking off what you’re wearing, you slip into the dress. you hum, checking yourself out in the mirror for a few seconds. it fits your form perfectly, your body looking better than it has ever looked in your nineteen years of living. you smirk at this boost of confidence. the more you look, the more you realize how short it is. the weird thing is, you don’t mind.
you look phenomenal.
walking back to the girls with a twirl, you hear bethany audibly gasp. “holy shit. you look stunning!”
“i feel it.”
“ooh, la la. what’s going on here? a secret fashion show?” amalia chirps while coming up behind you, cocking an eyebrow slightly. she goes over to monica to greet her before continuing. “it’s not that you don’t look gorgeous, but why? you got a date?”
“y/n here is sneaking out to go to a party.” bethany grins, patting you on the shoulder.
“no fucking way.” amalia gasps. “y/n, my most introverted little cousin, is sneaking out to party?”
“please don’t tell my mom,” you beg with a hint of worry that she’ll snitch.
she scoffs. “who do you think i am? this is a very special occasion i have to take part in… ‘cause girl, you are rocking it in that dress.”
you giggle as bethany sits you down at the vanity. she grabs her makeup bag that’s in her purse and leans in front of you. monica is scavenging your bedroom to look for jewelry, and she finds some that can match. amalia hovers above you and her sister.
bethany finishes the makeup look after a few minutes and monica hooks you up with a matching necklace and earring set that is silver, all of them giving an approving look. bethany looks at her watch and smiles. “you made it just in time. have fun.” she winks, ushering you to the entrance of your house.

JJK - SEVEN (JK POV)
Tumblr media
Summary: you know it isn't healthy, you know you should leave, but you can't and neither can he.
Genre: angst, hurt/comfort, kind of toxic relationship.
A/N: there was a slight demand to see jungkooks pov and I thought I’d indulge it! I will be updating all other stories in the next month please bare with me! Once again be kind, I tried to write this as best as I could I tried to think how my ex would be.
BTS MASTERLIST
READER POV
Tumblr media
He’d been stuck on this song for weeks, and what had started as a moment of inspiration to create fizzled out into nothing more than an unfinished track giving him a headache.
He felt his phone buzz and he knew even before checking that it was you,
Baby 🖤: I’m home, will you be here for dinner?
He sighs, leaning back in his chair. Realistically he could go home, relax and eat a home-cooked meal with you but then he would have to come back here tomorrow and he really didn’t want to do that. Of course, he felt like an asshole always being at work but that wasn’t something he could control and he knew that you knew that.
He shook his head as he typed his response.
Him: No. Working late, don’t wait up.
Baby🖤: Okay, Love You
Him: Lo- “Jungkook?”
Jungkook was startled at the sight of Yoongi leaning against the door, closing his phone before answering him. “What’s wrong Hyung?”
“Mingyu is here asking for you.”
Jungkook frowned, the other hadn’t called him to let him know he would be coming by. “Why?”
Yoongi shrugged holding the door open for him. “I don’t know, just said it was important.”
“Oh, thanks Hyung.” Jungkook smiled at him before they went their separate ways,
Yoongi turns off into his studio and Jungkook to the waiting area.
“Jungkookie” he was met with the sighs of a sniffling Mingyu, he had clearly been crying.
“What’s wrong?”
“Can we get a drink?”
Jungkook sat next to him, shaking his head. “I’m supposed to be working, I told YN I wouldn’t be home so I can finish the song today. You can talk to me if something is bothering you, I have a little time.”
“I don’t wanna talk about it right now I just don’t want to be alone.” He paused, eyeing Jungkook before continuing. “If you’re busy I understand.”
He should go back to the studio, he should tell Mingyu he has to work but he doesn’t. He doesn’t because he has to be a good friend, he can come back tomorrow and work because he has to be a good employee and then he can work late to complete his weekend work so he can take the weekend off so he could be a good boyfriend. Jungkook always had to just be good, he had to do everything perfectly.
“It’s okay we can, let me just get my jacket and shut everything off.” Jungkook smiled, patting Mingyus's leg before going to finish up.
It doesn’t take him long and soon enough he is in the passenger seat of Mingyus's car on the way to whatever restaurant the other had chosen.
“How are things between you and your girlfriend?” Mingyu questions.
“It’s good I guess.” Jungkook sighs, not really wanting to open that can of worms. “I’m not giving her enough.”
“What do you mean?” Mingyus eyes flicker to Jungkook before focusing back on the road.
Jungkook leans his head on the window, sighing. “She needs so much attention and reassurance. I know I’m supposed to be the one who gives that to her but I can’t, I don’t even have the time to reassure myself everything is going to be okay. I keep thinking about how easy it would be to break it off and just go back to focusing on work with no distractions.”
“You seem pretty set on that idea.” Mingyu responded. “Have you spoken to her about it?”
“No.” Jungkook huffed. “I can’t, if I do she will just shut down her own needs to try and support me. It makes me feel worse knowing she ignores the things she wants, needs and deserves just to keep me happy. I don’t fucking know what to do.”
“Why don’t you ask for a break?” Mingyu suggests, pulling into the carpark of their usual hangout. “I’m sure she would understand.”
“I can’t do that if I want to leave then I can’t keep her hanging on to hope that may never come. She deserves the world, I just can’t be the one to give it to her.”
The car turns off and it falls silent before Mingyu clears his throat, leaning a little closer to Jungkook. “If you know you can’t give her what she wants then let her go.”
Jungkook didn’t reply, he couldn't. Mingyu was fucking right and he hated it more than anything in the world because she deserved better, deserved the fucking noon and the stars but he couldn’t fulfil that but he also couldn’t leave because as much as he could talk shit about whatever issues they have he loved her to his core, depended on her in so many ways he didn’t know who he would be without her.
Even if he should let her go he won’t, because he can’t stomach the thought he of being alone without the love of his life. He can’t stand the idea of someone else loving her, touching her, being the reason for her smile.
The time flew once they were inside the restaurant come bar, drink going down with a burn enough to make him forget about his inner torment regarding his relationship. Mingyu dropped him home with the promise of seeing him again soon.
Jungkook fumbled with the keypad a few times before getting it right, he wasn’t drunk just a little buzzed.
He was taken aback by how dark everything was, usually, you’d still have at least the kitchen light on. He frowned slipping his shoes off and heading straight the the bedroom. Maybe she had gone to sleep? He frowned again seeing the sheets untouched.
“Marco?” He called out, knowing if you were in the apartment it would get your attention.
He couldn’t help but feel a warmth in his chest and the memory of teaching you the child’s game. “Polo” he heard you call back.
“I thought you were working late?” She frowned, holding out a hand to him.
Jungkook groaned, not ready for a scolding as he slouched against the couch. “Yeah, well we finished around 7 so Mingyu asked if I wanted to get drinks.” He shrugged. “Don’t get all mad.”
“I’m not mad kook.” She was quick to reassure but Jungkook knew her better than that, she wasn’t mad she was upset and that was far worse. “I just missed you.”
And just like that he was sober, the fuzziness shrouding his brain courtesy of the alcohol he had ingested cleared up instantly. “Fuck I know okay, I know but I don’t need you putting pressure on me too I’m already working hard twenty-four seven, you want me to come home and be the perfect boyfriend to you but where is my time? Where is the time for me? It’s selfish of you to always put your wants first.” He knew he should shut up, knew none of that was true but he couldn’t stop himself.
“No I just meant that I missed you I didn’t-“ she sighed, the argument dying on her tongue. “I’m sorry.”
“You always say that. You just ruined a good day…god” he huffed, a hand running through his hair.
The second the words were out of his mouth he felt a twinge of guilt pang through him. Everything had come out wrong he should have been apologising but all he could feel was anger, anger at himself for being a fucking awful partner even though she had only ever been good to him and for whatever reason he still hadn’t figured out himself he found it all too easy to take it out on her.
“I’m going to shower and then I’ll sleep.” He knew walking away wasn’t right, they should talk, and he should apologise but he couldn’t look at her when she had that glimmer of hurt in her eyes, especially because he’s the one that put it there.
He stepped under the water, his head thrown forward as he let it wash away his worries. As much as he tries to focus on the sound of water pelting off the glass he can’t stop thinking about what just unfolded.
He should walk away, he should let her go so she can find someone who makes her happy but he won’t, and he knows deep inside she won’t leave either, no matter how much of an asshole he is.
He’s sad, although not surprised, to see the bed empty. On days like this, he knew you chose to wait up until he slept and he wasn’t going to interrupt that so he slid under the covers, bordering on that space of awake and sleep until he felt you slide in beside him. He pulled her closer to him, needing your touch before whispering an “I love you.” Placing a soft kiss on your head.
There was so much more he could say, so much he should say but he settled for the three words.
The next morning Jungkook woke up first which was a surprising occurrence but he decided to make the best of it. He quickly showered and got dressed before setting off for the kitchen. Making breakfast although a small act of love was where he decided to start making amends.
He flicked on a playlist of songs Taehyung had made him before letting himself be carried away by the copious chopping and frying.
He noticed her hovering in the doorway. “Good morning baby.”
Jungkook swore his heart grew at the sight of her smile. “Good morning.”
“Come here.” He called out, turning down the stove before opening his arms. He felt himself relax once his body was pressed against her as though it was made to be there. “I’m sorry for last night.”
“It’s okay.” She whispers but he knows it isn’t, regardless of what she says it isn’t okay, and it will never be okay.
Jungkook pushes her back a little, taking in her forced smile before asking “Is it really? Do you forgive me?”
“I’ll always forgive you.” She responded without any hesitation, that was a true answer as unhealthy as it was he knew she meant it with her entirety.
He knew he wasn’t worthy of you, knew that you loved and cared for him far beyond that which he deserved so he promised, he promised himself he would try, he would try to be better, be a fraction of the person she deserved and even if he couldn’t he knew it would be okay because they would always be there, needing one another.
“I’m in love with you.” Jungkook breathed, shifting his head and tilting her chin up to kiss her.
“I’ll love you for the rest of my life.” She mumbled back, a bright smile on her face.
And just like that everything fell back into their normal.

Just a coworker
Dr ratio x g/n! reader (i tried)
Part 1, Part 2
cw. angst, super slow burn, they eventually get tgt, hurf/comfort, jealousy brr, reader is unhinged, mentions of drugs, kinda cringe but who cares I've written worse, not proofread, dr ratio is a pussy
a/n: i js wanna say fck SCHOOL FOR GIVING ME 6 PROJECTS DUE TOMORROW. THIS FIC IS MEH BUT TRUST IT GETS BETTER (hopefully…)
Tumblr media
Veritas Ratio is a lonely man. Only having his books and his sculptures as friends— regarding the rest as no use for him.
Up till now, you've been nothing more than the pest who waves hi at him every morning, bringing him coffee every now and then. You must be scheming something, there's no way someone could ever be this nice without asking for a favour.
“Dr ratio!”
The alabaster headed man stared at you, even with that stone head of his, you can clearly feel his piercing gaze.
“What is it?”
Veritas groans in annoyance, what is it again?
Lately, you've been struggling to teach this subject. As well-versed you were in topics such as literature, history and the likes, it was true that you were above average with maths.
“I've been tutoring this kid after classes and well…”
He doesn't move, just listening intently.
“He's been asking about quantum mechanics and I don't know much about the topic so…”
“so?”
so?
“I was wondering if you can teach me it.”
God damn it, he has better things to do.
“Then read a book about it”
His eyes were trained on your figure as he saw you tense, just why him of all people?
“Dr ratio, just this once. I just need to learn the basics once and I won't bother you again!”
He closed his codex and turned the other way, ready to walk away from conversation.
“I have better things to do than humouring your foolish antics—”
“Please.”
Your hands fidget nervously as he paused before looking back at you, pondering whether to do you a favour.
“I'll think about it.”
By the time you blinked, he was gone.
The next day passed, you were at his door, clutching your teaching materials as you waited for veritas’ class to end.
He scrunched nose as annoyance rose in him like a tide, he could see you waiting at the window and checking the time every now and then.
“That ends our discussion for today.”
His voice echoing on the walls as the bell rang, his students already out the door.
After a good 10 minutes, most of the students were out the door as he was left alone with himself (+ those eyes of yours that never seem to leave him alone)
“It's rude to stare.”
His comment caught you off guard, the corners of your lips twitching nervously as you hid behind the wall again— shit, he caught you staring…
Veritas let out a sigh before cleaning his desk of the sparse test papers he's collected last week.
A moment of silence passed before you mustered up the courage to enter the spacious room, it was… quiet to say the least.
“Dr. Ratio—”
“I'll tutor you but with one condition.”
Sweat trickled down your forehead as you nervously anticipated what he's about to say. (Did I mention he paused to rile you up?)
“You,”
A click on his cabinet was heard before he turned at your direction to get a better look at you.
“That I won't have to tutor you again next time, just this once”
It was odd, a teacher asking for tutoring from a fellow teacher? It wasn't uncommon but it certainly irked him of the thought. You could just read a book about it but you'd rather take his precious hours in his day for something you could do yourself.
You let out a sigh of relief.
“whew… I thought you were going to refuse.”
“Do you want me to?”
You shook your head no, gripping your satchel tightly.
“Tomorrow at the faculty room after classes—”
When you blinked, he was already behind you. Was he a magician or something?!?
“—Don't be late.”
Then, the door closed abruptly, now it was only you in the room.
The next day, classes already ended and you cleaned up your desk to get to the faculty room.
As you slid the door open, he was already waiting for you.
“What're you doing?”
Veritas moved another chess piece on the board, eating the white team's queen.
“What does it look like I'm doing?”
Why can't he just be nice for once?
“Whatever, so… do we start reviewing?”
You pulled the chair opposite to his and sat down. He didn't reply, only tapping his feet.
“Your turn.”
“Do I just?—”
“Just move a piece.”
Fine then. There were barely any pieces left on the board, leaving you with no other choice as you hid your king at the corner of the board.
“Checkmate.”
There was a visible annoyance on your face, making veritas chuckle.
“Seriously? When are you going to start tutoring me? I came here to learn something— not some stupid chess game”
“First of all, chess isn't stupid”
Before you knew it, veritas flicked your forehead.
“Second of all, learn patience.”
“ow!”
Veritas hid away the board and grabbed all the books needed, pulling out some notes and highlighters for you.
“Read”
The man in front of you flipped the pages and pointed at the highlighted paragraph for you. Was he making you read out loud? Were you 10 or something?
“Do I really have to?”
His fingers tapped aggressively on the board, his patience was thinning and you weren't even past the first page yet.
“Just do it.”
Who could've guessed two hours later you would be in tears, notes sprawled all over the table and veritas shouting at you.
“Idiot.”
He commented on your work before rewriting the entire thing for you and repeating it again.
“God dammit we're not even past the 20th page yet you're here crying like a child.”
Sniffles echoed in the room, only his lamp illuminating the room. You checked your phone and it was already 8 pm.
“Now read.”
“Q-quantum mechanics…”
He clenched his jaw, raising his voice at you before you could continue.
“You imbecile, not that— can't you read?!? Its wave function!”
“Whatever!”
Before he could react, you stood up, bag already in hand and walking away.
“We're not done yet.”
“I don’t care.”
Just like that, you were gone.
Despite you running off yesterday… There you were sitting on that same chair with the alabaster head man right in front of you.
“Again?”
You bit your lip nervously before tightening the grip on your pen.
“Yeah.”
Veritas nodded as he placed down his codex and walked to the sprawled shelves at his desk, his fingers tracing over the books (those books were rotting on those shelves, too dusty he had to wipe them)
“here.”
He took the book off the shelf and thrusted it into your hands.
‘The nonlinear schrodinger equation’
“Let's start with the ‘weakly nonlinear dispersion relation’ topic.”
Time flies by as he explains each term to you, giving definition after definition about each equation in front of you.
“Here, page 24.”
He pointed at the first equation but your eyes couldn't leave his stone head.
For an intimidating man, he's getting quite patient with you.
“— and let's compute the coefficients, after that,”
You couldn't stop wondering what he looked like under that stone head. It's hot out here, he must be sweating a tsunami in there. Is he handsome? or maybe he's wearing that stone head because he looks that bad?
“—the quantum mechanical pressure becomes negligible in the ‘semiclassical’ where nabla and—”
He hit your head with a codex, with no hesitation at all.
“ow!”
Oh shit— he must've noticed you staring.
“What were we reviewing?”
uh…
You gulped nervously, looking down at the page, you guys were already at page 26?!?
“0 points.”
He smacked you but with less force, though enough to leave a bruise.
“that hurt…”
“Then listen, don't waste my time.”
Under that alabaster head of his, a small smile formed from the corner of his lips due to the amusing sight before him.
“You're annoying, let's go over the fluid-dynamical form again.”
You weren't that boring after all.
You both were already at page 31, which was slow progress (at least to him, he can finish the book in under 3 hours.), yet still progress nonetheless.
“Do you get it now?”
It was already 9:58 pm, shit. You both got carried away…
“Yeah.”
Veritas handed the book over to you and hid away his highlighters.
“Go review at home— you better finish page 40.”
You nod, shoving the book into your satchel and your water bottle.
Today was… fun.
As you walked outside, one foot already out the door, you looked back.
“What?”
“and…”
There was a moment of silence, none of you moving before your voice shook,
“Thank you.”
He didn't say anything back, only putting back his folders in his bag as he removed his attention from you. You shook your head and just walked home.
It was the third day of him tutoring you, you were getting quite good.
“And how do you do the hamilton equation?”
There was a weird habit you did, you would bite your pen or sometimes click it nonstop due to stress (which you did now, don't do it too much though, you'll piss off veritas.)
You let out a soft hum before confidently writing the equation, no error in sight.
“And these quantities are called?”
“They're uh… momentas, right?”
“20 points— you're getting good at this.”
Receiving praise from others came by often, but to get one from the Dr. Veritas Ratio himself? You could wish.
Your eyes were glued at the scratch paper, unable to contain your smile; the aeons definitely smiled down on you and blessed you with his attention for today.
He takes note of this, but doesn't comment on that any further, only flipping the pages.
The fourth day. It was 2 pm, 3 hours earlier than the usual tutor hours. A new coffee shop opened in the food court at the university, which turned into the new buzz (the old coffee shops were shit.)
The line was long, your legs were about to give up but your students would occasionally suggest this shop, saying it's definitely better than the instant coffee at the teacher's lounge.
After 5 more minutes, it was finally your turn to order.
“Good afternoon! What can I get ya?”
The menu was definitely diverse, candy corn flavoured coffee? That's new.
“I'll take your special cappuccino”
The cheerful cashier jotted down your order, asking for your name then running to the back.
You sat down at some table and took out your laptop, fixing your schedules for this weekend.
“For ___?”
Eh? That was fast. It only took them 3 minutes to make your order despite the heavy line? Impressive.
“Thank you.”
You smiled and snatched the cup from the counter and walked back to your seat.
It tasted funny. Coffee jelly in cappuccino with sprinkles on top? At Least it tasted good.
“And here I was wondering where you are.”
“ack!”
You looked up and saw veritas in front of you, looming over you with his codex behind him after he hit you.
“that hurt…”
He sighed and sat down next to you while you rubbed the bruised area.
“Stop hitting people with your codex damn it!”
“I find it far more interesting to use my codex to get your attention.”
“Weirdo.”
He chuckled at the way scoffed, sipping your coffee and typing some requirements on an excel sheet.
“Anyways, why were you looking for me?”
He leaned back on the couch, before responding,
“Nothing, I was just wondering where the idiot was.”
“You little—”
Only a soft sigh left your lips as you continued to type, veritas beside you reading his codex and none of you saying a word.
Though this peaceful moment was short lived as the bell rang, signalling that the two of you had to go back to your respective classes.
Veritas sat up, closing his book.
“It's time for me to go.”
“Oh yeah.”
Veritas was gone in a blink of an eye, what's up with him disappearing so suddenly 24/7?!?
5 pm.
You were patiently waiting in the faculty room, what was taking veritas so long?
“You're late”
Veritas rolled his eyes— wait.
His stone head was… was this really the veritas ratio? He had nice purple hair, his eyes, he looked so… beautiful.
No way.
“When are you going to stop staring?”
“Oh— uh.”
You chuckled nervously before forcing a smile as he sat down in front of you.
“Let's continue where we let off.”
The sound of flipping pages reverberated across the room, your eyes locked onto his face. He would occasionally click his tongue at some parts of the book, guiding you through each equation as his face was close to yours; enough to feel his breath on your skin.
“—because its transformation φ is a symmetry and thus preserves the Lagrangian L and the action ,S=∫L”
Veritas ratio leaned closer to you, your hands touching as he got closer,
“Do you get it now?”
You didn't. You were too focused on his face, with every wrinkle of his brows, the tiniest details of his jaw and hell, even his eyes. How could you even focus? With his face inches away from yours? No way. The man right next to you stares at you, tapping his fingers on the mahogany table; he repeated himself.
“I said, do you get it now?”
Like the air was sucked out of your lungs, your last card was to lie but he was smart enough to not fall for that.
“Y-yes”
“Then what were we reviewing just now?”
He rolled his eyes hearing your mind blank out and confused ‘uhhs’ escaped your lips. You flinch from his harsh tone, as the cold stare turned into a glare.
“We should be reviewing the noether theorem, not my face.”
He made you solve equation after equation, his gaze not leaving you once as he crumpled your papers even after one minor mistake, “Idiot”, “Do it again.”, and “Are you really paying attention?” Constantly rang in your ears, you were not sure whether you asked for a tutoring session or a three hour insulting session from the revered professor.
“I'm sorry.”, He sighed at your visible frustration as you apologised through gritted teeth. He started to pity you when you struggled with just the terms at the next lesson. Was this theorem that hard? He dropped his pen and closed the book.
“Let’s end today’s session.”
A look of relief appeared on your face as he said those words, clearly, he’ll give you a break—
“Just read this book instead. It gives a more in-depth explanation”
— or not. He thrusted the book in your hands and put on his alabaster head, making you raise an eyebrow,
“What? You can’t seem to focus without this on”
You laughed an awkward chuckle while sliding the book in your satchel, a small squeak was heard when he stood up and moved his chair at his desk.
“Tomorrow again?”
“Sure.”
Veritas tapped his feet aggressively as time past by, you were late by 20 minutes, by now he would've left but for some reason he's feeling nice today that he'll wait for you.
The faculty room door slid open as light footsteps entered the room.
“Sorry ‘m late.”
You smelled different today. That would sound creepy to the average person but despite the tight alabaster sculpture that covers his face, he could smell your perfume and that he's gotten used to your scent by now.
“Did you wear something new?”
“Come again?”
He took one glance at you and shook his head and shifted his attention to the complex arithmetics on his codex.
“Hey, what did you mean by that?”
It was hard to ignore you as he tried to mute your voice but he let out an inaudible sigh before taking a quick glance at you.
“I meant your perfume, idiot.”
“No need to be rude.” you scoffed and placed down your bag at your desk.
He finds himself eager for a response as your right hand shuffled in your bag looking for the perfume bottle,
“I just tried something new.”
“Oh?”
He leans over the table to take a closer look at the bottle, inspecting it with a skeptical look one he's glad you cannot see through his sculpted head.
“It was a gift from one of our coworkers here”
There was a loud slamming sound that rang in the room when you dropped the materials Veritas made you read, it was a pain highlighting everything.
“From who?”
Why was he suddenly interested? He's not one to ask about anyone's affairs so suddenly, not that he'd care about something so miniscule about you like perfume yet you humour him.
“From Amir, the history prof guy?”
“I see.” For some reason, he finds himself feeling annoyed after hearing who you got it from. Why would you accept a gift from that idiot? He's a far better history professor, definitely? definitely.
Hours passed yet he couldn't concentrate. Not with that foul stench of your new perfume of yours.
Dr. Ratio scrunched his nose in disgust as he continued to guide you through each and every lesson, harsher than usual— you didn't know why.
“Wrong answer, 2 points.”
Veritas smacked your arm with his heavy codex and snatched your answer sheet, crumpling it and tossing it in the bin.
“Do it again.”
This fucker. You were starting to lose your resolve but you do not falter under his scrutinising gaze.
Again and again. Another 30 minutes yet your answers didn't seem ‘perfect’ enough.
Veritas clicked his tongue in annoyance as you failed to answer another simple question again
“Are you even paying attention?”
“If you didn't yell at me every minute I would've”
You continued to write more equations as he rolled his eyes at your reply, his eyes scanned your work and it was okay (atleast to his standards).
His eyes squinted, looking for any mistake but there was none, he gave up.
“50 points”, he spoke in a defeated tone.
“Just 50?”
“0 points then”
“Oh come on.”
It was hell getting tutored by him.

I had a job interview today. I live in a slightly more affluent area right now. I go in after preparing for it and I'm told that the position has already been filled. The manager takes me to the office and reiterates that the store is no longer hiring. She says I should have been notified by email (I wasn't). I'm looking for work but that would have been a perfect position. I'm tempted to call back tomorrow in my most alabaster voice and ask if there are any positions open and record the phone call. But aside from that, starting next week I'm going to be alone at my dad and stepmom's house for 2 and a half weeks while they leave the country with very minimal funds or support from people like friends of family and I'm anxious about it. I need money to get by while I'm there. I'm looking for work and need money for food, transportation, and just relief in general for my situation. They won't be back until mid September. I'm incredibly anxious about the situation. If anyone can donate to me while they are absent it would provide me a sense of security and I'd be able to take care of myself. I'm in a neighborhood where I stick out like a sore thumb and deal with racism quite literally every time I step outside. It's agonizing. I know that help is there, don't scroll past. Please, I implore you, give it if you have it or tell the people you know to help. This is how you do work as an ally. I'm applying for food stamps and I'm without resources until I get benefits from my county.

Fighting
A)n: Heyyyy... I'm back :)
Warning: none, angst, yelling, arguing
Gn reader Masterlist
Steven
He doesn’t yell
But it’s that exactly that makes it worse
He refuses to yell, but he’ll be a sarcastic little shit
“Oh really? How lovely.”
“Oh my dearest apologies, my liege, I didn’t realize I had to agree with everything you had to say.”
Steven won’t back down, he’ll keep this energy until he’s done talking about it and then he’ll ignore you
He won’t ask how your day's been, he won't hug you, he won't even look at you
And it’ll drive you crazy
The only reason this started was because Steven missed a date and didn’t acknowledge that he would be late or wanted to cancel
He was working late for Donna again, but this time it just set off something in his head
Normally you wouldn’t be too upset about him missing a date, seeing as he’s got other people to take care of and he’s got a shitty boss, but when you asked him about the date, he blew up
“God, it was one date, why do you have to nag me about it?”
“Excuse me? I wasn’t trying to nag you, Steven, I just wanted to know what happened.”
“You’re not my bloody parent, you don’t need to know!”
“Take that back.”
“No.”
And now you're in your room and Steven's sleeping on the couch
That night will give him time to realize he was in the wrong and he'll feel super guilty
When he wakes up with a stiff back and sore neck, he'll think he deserves it
He'll wait until you come out to get up
And then he's following you around like a lost puppy
He won't say anything, but he'll look so sad and just be following you everywhere you go
It would be cute if you weren't upset with him
You'll have to be the one to start a conversation, but as soon as you say a single word to him, Steven's apologizing faster than you can process
"Love, I'm so so sorry. I was an absolute knob, I was so stressed and upset yesterday and I know that's not a reason to treat you so terribly, but it was such a bad day. I promise I'll make it up with 3, no, 5 dates! We can do whatever you want today and tomorrow and all week! Please forgive me, darling. I know I don't deserve it, but please just give me another chance."
He looks like he's about to burst into tears and kneel for you
(Which would be hot in a different setting)
Depending on how passionate you feel about this, it might take some time to forgive him, but he's there every second of the day
Or if you want him to leave you alone, he'll respect that
You'll find little notes of lovey poems around the flat and your favorite snacks littered around the living room
He honestly feels like a terrible partner so when you do decide to forgive him, just give him a kiss and hug him
He'll cry and apologize a bunch more so just pet his head and tell him it's ok
He'll genuinely sit you down and ask if there's something he can do to get his 'anger issues' under control
Poor baby doesn't have anger issues, he just has a shitty boss <3
Marc
He yells
He yells loud and painful things
He doesn’t care, he can’t bother to care
He’s angry and that’s all he feels
He can’t think past it, it’s like he sees red
He’ll shout until his throat is raw, but he’ll get as many insults and sarcastic comments he can before that happens
He knows what he’s doing is wrong, he knows the only reason you’re arguing is because of him
But he’s not backing down
He wants to hurt you and he does
And it makes everything worse for at least a week
Marc came home absolutely wreaked from a fight and refused your help, preferring to drink and just sit there
If you weren’t so upset at the fact he refused your help and instead wanted the help of alcohol, you’d yell at him about staining the couch with his blood
You’ll either have to deal with Marc breaking out into an argument after the initial one, or leave to stay somewhere else
If you come back the next day, Marc will still be upset
He won’t start yelling at you again, but he’ll ignore you
And it really just stops there
It’s the silent treatment for a week
He'll make dinner for you and all that, but he won't talk to you
He'll stare at you, wondering if you'll be the one to apologize
Or he'll be staring at you to see if you're watching him
You're not
He'll stay silent for an entire week, festering in his anger and guilt until it overflows
And when you come back home from work or being out late, he's waiting for you
And he looks like a kicked puppy
It was no surprise Marc had no idea how to apologize and admit/accept his feelings but at this moment, none of that mattered
His guilt and the feeling of missing you outweighed his discomfort of voicing his feelings
He'll start with an apology, saying how sorry he was and how terrible he felt
He didn't give any excuse or reason for his anger, he just apologized and stood there
He expects you to yell at him, leave him, insult him
Just gently take him in your arms and kiss his cheek
You don't even have to tell him anything, he'll promise to never yell at you like that again
"If I do, you can hit me as hard as you want."
Marc will say, though if you did actually hit him, he'd probably cry
He'll be so genuine with his words and.the nail in the coffin was the fact that he promised
Marc never makes promises, even if he knows he can fulfill them
But he swears up and down that he will never yell at you again
And he does everything in his power to reverse or heal the damage his words did to you
Even going out of his comfort zone
He loves you so much and he doesn't understand why you're still with him, but he thanks every God and Goddess that you are
Jake
He’s dangerously silent
He’ll stand there completely blanked face, eyes set in a slight glare as you argue about something that was definitely his fault
Maybe he missed a date and didn’t bother to let you know he wasn’t coming or wrote off your worry about a few injuries and called you ‘clingy’ and ‘overbearing’
Either way, he doesn’t respond to your anger, just standing there like he didn’t care
And it hurt
Once you were done explaining how you felt or what Jake did wrong, he’ll roll his eyes, pull out a cigarette and sit in the couch
He’ll play the baseball game he may have missed or just watch the news to really set in that something that boring was more interesting than your feelings
“Do you seriously find the news more important than our relationship?”
He won’t look at you
“I can’t believe this. If you care so fucking little, then why are you still here?”
“This is my house.”
“Then maybe I should go if it’s just your house.”
“You should.”
And you do
You go to a friends house, or a hotel, somewhere that you can rest for the night because you’re obviously not going to get anywhere with Jake and you can’t stand his attitude
The second you’re out of the room, Jake curses and throws the tv remote at the wall
He throws everything that he can without any worry of breaking something or getting a noise complaint
He'll throw bottles, plates, pillows, books
Once he's run out of steam, he'll shamefully clean up everything, throwing glass away and putting pillows back
That's give him the time he needs to realize 'oh shit, I fucked up'
He won't come out and admit it instantly, no
He'll fester in his guilt and figure out what exactly he should say
He'll even plan out when he should breathe during his apology
And when you get home, no matter when that is, Jake it waiting patiently with breakfast, lunch, or dinner
He'll give a nervous smile and walk up to you, giving you a hesitant kiss on your cheek before pulling you to the living room couch
Your plate of food is already made and somehow still warm despite Jake no knowing when you'd be back
He'll give an awkward apology, explaining how he's still not used to being something more than a protector for Marc and Steven, how he's still learning to let people in, how he loves you with all his heart despite being such a monster
He might start crying, but he'll try not to show you
He doesn't want to show vulnerability, but he knows it's important in a relationship
So he'll just ask very quietly if he can hug you
Is you say no, he'll nod in understanding as tears fall into his lap
He'll quietly mutter another apology and just sit there, unsure as to what to do
If you say yes, however, he'll gently wrap his arms around your waist and bury his head in your neck
He'll silently cry, muttering 'i love you' over and over again until you say it back
Just rub his back and kiss his head, tell him you forgive him or need time to forgive him and he'll understand either way
He loves you with his entire being, almost like he lives off of loving you
