Btw I fucking hate that queer media is so oversaturated with tragedy and misery that people feel comfortable saying that queer joy is “unrealistic” as if that isn’t overtly homophobic. Never mind the fact that the “unrealistic” story in question has multiple portrayals of homophobia and the mental health issues that come from a childhood of being bullied for your sexuality. But no, experiencing happiness even once is too much for queer people to ask for. Having a happy ending and the boy you love loving you back has never happened for a queer person once ever. And you’re an ally—ok.

I think that part of what like. kills me about the whole media literacy and critical thinking aspect of enjoying media these days is that people refuse to like. contextualize that

A. Bad media can still hold significant meaning to people

B. Media made for a demographic you aren’t apart of is not inherently bad media

C. Media made for and consumed by the opposite demographic is not inherently shallow or flawed nor is it above criticism for its media tropes either.

St. Elsewhere season 1 it's 1983 so his face and voice is absolutely fuckin Amadeus, and and Denzel Washington's character is amazing and he keeps calling him "boy" but Tom is literally a year older than him it's ridiculous, and and it's all so fuckin emotional... He gets shot and has memory loss and and oh the voice cracking, choked out words "I want to die" and I wanted to die myself because look at them both look how pretty he is ohmygod and his lush fluffy hair... i swear to god All i wanted, was just to happily enjoy watching this damn thing and make gifs... I was not expecting all this pain, I am torn

Daniel’s waiting out in the parking lot, leaning against Johnny’s car as he waits for him and the rest of the Cobra’s to come out from the competition.

He had seen Johnny win, third time champ and looking so unbelievably happy about it. Daniel had wanted to run onto the mat and congratulate him, wanted to jump into his arms and kiss him stupid while their friends laughed and made fun.

But Daniel couldn’t do that, not in front of all those people and in front of Johnny’s sensei. He knew the man meant the world to the blond and if he lost him because Daniel couldn’t help himself… well he didn’t wanna think on that.

He snapped out of his thoughts when there was raucous laughter and cheers from the entrance. Daniel looked over, smiling wide as he spotted the guys all pushing and shoving each other, Bobby holding a second place trophy proudly.

(I had a thought that Johnny could walk out with Ali under his arm and either Daniel gets the wrong idea and runs or! Daniel suddenly remembers that they made a deal that their relationship was just for convenience, Johnny using him to make Ali jealous and Daniel taking the chance to at least have a memory of being with him.

So he smiles and waves, ignores the panic in Johnny’s expression to congratulate him and then Ali when she reveals she might give Johnny another chance. The guys knew about it of course, look between them all awkwardly for a long moment as Johnny tries to figure something out and Daniel looks for an escape. Dutch, surprisingly, is the one to give it to him, offering him a ride home. Johnny gets jealous despite knowing he has no right to be.)

Johnny comes out last, looking around the parking lot as if searching for someone. When he spots Daniel a wide smile breaks across his face, already jogging toward him without a care for what his friends are saying.

Daniel expects him to come to a stop in front of him, pat his shoulder or show off his trophy or something. He certainly doesn’t expect the hands on his waist lifting him up and spinning him around, loud laugh escaping them both as it happens. Johnny puts him down but keeps close, the happiness rolling off him absolutely infectious as Daniel smiles back.

Johnny’s the one to initiate the kiss, not paying a single mind to anybody in the parking lot or the way their friends whoop and holler like a bunch of children. Daniel smiles through it, hands wrapping around the taller’s neck as he feels fingers dip into the back pockets of his jeans.

I know Vanessa learned that the games were just a cover up for real events in HW1, but I love the idea that Gregory and Vanessa shit on the old games because the lore is "super unrealistic and totally bullshit", only for them to realize later that the "lore" was real life and everything that happened in them actually happened
