Never Good Enough
(Hey so that concept I posted where some kinda neurotoxin leaves Shawn unable to mask his depression anymore? Well I wrote a small segment of what that'd be like. IDK if I'll ever do a full fic so have this for now.)
“Looking at you is like looking at everything I was supposed to be, man. Head detective, follows the rules, can rattle off procedure in your sleep, when I look at you it’s like looking my Dad’s dreams for me in the face. And then you weren’t good enough for him either. You’re exactly who I should have been if I didn’t screw everything up and take everyone down with me, and you still weren’t good enough for him. And I had to realize, it doesn’t matter, it never would have mattered. I could’ve done… everything. Everything, exactly like he wanted me to, for my whole life, down to the letter, and I still… wouldn’t be good enough.” Shawn stares out the windshield, just… still. Tense. Numb.
No-one else in the car knows what to say.
“So what does it matter, man? I’m psychic, I’m not psychic, who cares. You’re what I should’ve been and couldn’t be, I’m what you shouldn’t ever be and get results you should be able to. We’re just- we’re opposites, man. But somehow we’re still friends, and I don’t even know how. I don’t know how anyone puts up with my crap enough to stick around, but I really don’t know how you do. Yeah, you say you hate me, but you don’t. I know that even if you don’t back up my theories or believe in my abilities, I can always rely on you. I know you’ll bust in at the last second before I get shot, and I know that no matter what stupid situation I get myself into you’ll end up there somehow to make sure I get out alive and mostly unharmed.”
Shawn thunks his head against his window. “Just like I know Jules will always back me up when it really matters, when I really need her to. And like I’ve known my whole life that no matter what… stupid, selfish moves I make, Gus will always be right next to me. Even when I don’t deserve to have him there. … Especially when I don’t. I never have.”
“I don’t deserve any of what I have. I’m just… dragging everyone along with my stupid games, like I’ve always done. And no matter how many cases I solve, how much I do right, I’ll never… be good enough. For any of it to make up for… me.”
“... Shawn, why do you think that?” Jule’s voice is quiet, but shattering, the silent tension in the car like glass and her words a sledgehammer thrown from a balcony.
Shawn just shrugs. Stares out the window. “The worst part is I know all of it. Still do it.”
“... You know, Spencer… Sh-Shawn. I’m… glad, that you know you can rely on me. Even if you use it as a crutch sometimes.” Lassiter can feel the ‘not the time’ glare from his partner in the backseat, but he ignores it and keeps going. “And I want you to know that I… enjoy knowing I can rely on you in turn. Maybe not to back me up, we don’t have that… dynamic. But I always know you’ll find the truth of whatever we’re working on, even if it makes you look like an idiot as well as me.”
“I just like showing off,” Shawn mumbles.
“Well… there’s worse ways to do that than solving unsolvable cases.”
“... Sure. Whatever.”
Lassiter shares a look with Gus and Jules through the mirror. He sees equal amounts confusion and heartbreak in both of their eyes. He wishes he could say there was no trace of either in his own, but he knows that’s a lie.
“... I don’t, hate you,” Lassiter begrudgingly admits. He wants it to make Shawn smirk, brag, sing a stupid song about being right.
Shawn barely reacts. “I know,” he mumbles. “... I don’t know why, though.”

The Ying to my Yang
Pairing: Shawn Spencer x fem! reader
Summary: This takes place during season 3 episode 16 when Ying takes Shawn's mom hostage but instead of his mom its the reader.
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
(Y/N) Pov
I just went to use the bathroom! That's it! Now I'm in a car with a bomb in my hands and tape over my mouth!
Santa Barbara's most wanted serial killer is in the car next to me with my life literally in the palm of her hand.
God I just hope that Shawn is close.
.....
Shawn's Pov
'God I'm so stupid! Why did I ever let her out of my sight!'
"It's gonna be fine Shawn, we will find her." Gus tries to reassure me.
"Yeah but what if we don't Gus! I can't lose her! I just can't!" I take the palms of my hands and press on my eyes trying to hold back my tears.
"Spencer! You need to get in here!" I hear Lassiter call from the bathroom. Quickly standing up, I practically run the the bathroom.
On the mirror is written 'YOU SHOULD BE MOVING AS MOST PEOPLE DO, BUT INSTEAD YOU SIT AND ENJOY THE VU... P.S. (Y/N) SAYS HI AND BYE JUST IN CASE'
"Why did he spell 'view' like 'Vu'?" Lassiter ask.
Gus clapped his hands and exclaimed, "I got it! Brendan Vu. From the spelling bee!"
'Vu.. Vu.. Vu.. Why does that sound so familiar?'
"Good guess!" I tell Gus, "but its just a misdirect! I know exactly where he wants us to go!"
.....

At the Vu drive-in theater
(Y/N) Pov
I can hear people yelling at someone to get off of their cars. Only one person I know would jump on a random car and have no shame. Shawn.
'Thank the gods!'
I hear his footsteps running up to the car. I see him squat down to the window out of the corner of my eye. My tears making him blurry.
"Hey, hey I'm here. Okay? I'm here, and I'm not going to let him hurt you. Got that?" His comforting tone makes the tears stop coming.
"See. There you go." He looks around and I know he has found the decoy laser. I see him signal to someone to get down and then turn back to me.
"I'm going to take this off now. Okay?" Leaning into the car, he gently tears the tape off of my mouth.
I try to say his name, but it comes out as a whimper.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm here now." He says as he gently cups my face. Wiping away some of the dried tears.
"Shawn," I say clearer this time, "I'm strapped." His face drops as I look into the popcorn bucket that sits in my lap. The red blinking light of the bomb visible through the kernels.
I see him turn to the person on the ground by the car. "She's strapped, dad." I can hear Mr. Spencer cuss and I turn my head to look at Shawn.
"Shawn. She's in the car next to me." I nod my head to the side a little. He looks at her and then back at me. Cupping my face once more before he stands up and walks over to the car.
I see him walk over and get in her car. They start talking and I can see her hold something infront of him. 'It must be what sets off the bomb.'
After talking for a few minutes, Shawn opens the door and shakily gets out with his hand up. He has the box.
"Clear!" He shouts to the police officers. A few seconds later someone opens my door and grabs the popcorn bucket out of my hands.
As soon as it's out of my hands, I'm being pulled out of the car and into someone's arms. Knowing it can only be one person, I hug back instantly. I start to cry tears of relief onto his shoulder.
"I am never letting you out of my sight again." His voice is muffled by my hair, but I understand.
"That won't matter. I'm never leaving your side again." I say as I raise my head from his shoulder to meet his eyes.
I stand on my tiptoes smashing my lips onto his. Trying to show all of my love for him through the kiss. He stood there for a second in shock before kissing me back just as hard. The past hour long forgotten. All that mattered was me and Shawn.
Eventually we had to break for air, and the circumstances of the situation hit both of us again. The medics put a shock blanket around me and led me to a little bench and telling me to take it easy.
Shawn sits next to me and wraps his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. I put my head on his shoulder in response knowing that I would be safe as long as I'm in his arms.
..........................................................................................
Author note: This is my first fanfic I have ever written and I couldn't have done it without @chaotic-writer-11. They have helped me so much. From editing to writing parts of the kiss scene. I am very grateful for them and I hope you enjoyed the fic!

If I Can't Have You (Hotchreid fanfic, Chapter 1)
Tumblr media
Description: Spencer Reid left the BAU after Gideon. He just didn't want to be there without his mentor, and everyone was very understanding. Even the BAU's Unit Chief, who Spencer had been having sex with, was understanding of his situation. Years later, the BAU is called to help on a case in Las Vegas, one that... involves their former colleague. Stakes are high, but will Aaron and Spencer let their feelings get in the way, or will they ignore them all together. That's the million dollar question. ~~ This is heavily canon divergent. Spencer left the BAU in season 3, right after Gideon, so a lot of things that should've happened didn't. Also Hayley and Jack don't exist... Also, technically Alex Blake should be there, but I really wanted to include Emily and Tara, so as much as I love her, I swapped her.
Notes: Did I take my title from a Shawn Mendes Song? Yes Does it really have much to do with the story? No But I figured there's gonna be a lot of pining and trying to decide whether or not to be in a relationship and i just love the line "Everything Means Nothing If I can't Have You" so...
Warnings: A main aspect of this story is the case that they are working, so there will be talk of murder, kidnapping, sexual assault, and things of that nature, so please be warned. There might be smut in later chapters, but I haven't decided yet.
Full Chapter is below the cut
or
Read on AO3
Spencer folded the letter that he had received from his mentor and pushed it into his messenger bag. He was sitting at his desk, reading and re-reading the letter over and over. He decided to put it away, finally, after the 7th time through. He’d already memorized it and he had just made his decision. He pulled out a pad of paper from his desk and began to write his own letter of resignation. He tried not to think about the others… The group of profilers who would be devastated that he was leaving, especially since Gideon had just left.
He especially tried not to think about the BAU Unit Chief, Aaron Hotchner. He and Aaron had been having a physical relationship the past two years. It was completely unexpected, but oh so passionate. Spencer supposed another reason that he was leaving was because he had started to grow feelings for his boss and he knew that the older man would never feel the same way. He ripped the page out and headed to Aaron’s office.
---
Aaron was sitting at his desk, filling out some paperwork from their last case. Everything had gone pretty smoothly, they had saved the child who had been snatched and luckily they had done so before any harm could come to the child. He was happy that they’d had one with a good ending after so many losses. He had just signed the bottom of the last page when there was a knock on his office door.
“Sir, we have another one.” The BAU’s technical analyst said, peeking her head into the office, “And it's a bad one…” She sighed. Aaron nodded.
“Call everyone back. We’ll gather at the round table in 20.” He said. Garcia nodded and scurried away. Aaron leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath. He picked up his phone to check the case that Garcia had seen before him and looked over the files in the tiny screen of his phone.
---
“So, we have three male victims. COD on all was exsanguination following a series of stab wounds in the abdomen.” Garcia explained, her disgust visible on her face.
“All of them were laid out with their hands folded over their abdomens, face up.” JJ pointed out.
“And they were cleaned and changed into the same white button up with khakis… They almost look ready for their funeral.” Emily said, flipping to look at all the crime scene photos.
“Yes. Each man was taken on a Monday afternoon and all were found the next Monday in the same place they were taken from” Aaron explained, “He then waits another week before taking another. We have only a few hours until he takes another victim. Wheels up in 30.” He said, standing and leaving the room. The others were quick to follow.
“Looks like we’re going to Las Vegas.” JJ teased Emily, bumping the other agent's shoulder. Emily raised her eyebrows at JJ.
“Maybe after the case we’ll get some time to play.” Emily teased right back. JJ smirked and grabbed her go bag. Emily picked up hers and they made their way to the elevators.
“So, will you be meeting up with the former agent that you told me about? Didn’t you say that he moved to Las Vegas?” Dave said, standing in the doorway of Aaron’s office. Aaron raised his eyebrows.
“Yes, he did move to Las Vegas but… I’m not going to see him, I mean… That was a long time ago.” Aaron said, looking at his tablet. He was looking at the photos of the victims and the medical examiner’s reports for the first two.
“Come on, you told me that you had a lot of unresolved feelings and this could be your chance to resolve them.” Dave stated, suggestively. Aaron kept his face hard.
“Maybe, maybe, I will call him.” Aaron spoke, putting a lot of emphasis on the second maybe, “I’m not making any promises.”
---
Aaron was preparing to go home, grabbing all of his personal items and shoving them into his briefcase. He was exhausted and ready to be home. As soon as he got his stuff together, there were three quiet knocks on the door of his office.
“Come in.” He said. The door opened and Spencer was there. He looked as if he was ready to get home as well. His jacket was on and he had his bag over his shoulder. His hair was in the familiar slicked back style, but a few strands had fallen in front of his face. Aaron felt his knees weaken just looking at the attractive man in front of him, “You’re still here? I thought you’d gone home.”
“Yeah, uh, can we talk?” Spencer said, that’s when Aaron realized how nervous he looked. His fingers were drumming quickly on the strap of the bag and his eyes were darting, never looking directly at Aaron.
“Of course, is something wrong?” Aaron asked, his face turning more serious. He knew that the man was still hurt by Gideon’s departure, but he never expected to hear what Spencer said next.
“This is my letter of resignation. It’s effective immediately.” Spencer said, sitting the paper on his desk, “Here’s my gun and my badge.” He set them down next to the letter. Aaron looked at Spencer in disbelief.
---
Once on the jet, the team began talking about victimology. All the men had a similar appearance, so they figured that they were surrogates for the person the unsub truly wanted to kill.
“Well, stabbing is typically a replacement for sexual penetration. Was there any sign of sexual assault on any of the victims?” Lewis asked. From the screen, Garcia responded.
“No signs of… that on the first two victims… The ME is still examining the latest victim.” Garcia explained.
“Well, that could mean that he’s impotent.” Rossi said.
“Okay, when we land I want Prentiss and Morgan at the latest crime scene. JJ and Rossi go to the medical examiner’s office and Lewis, you and I will set up at the local PD.” Aaron said, sitting back in his seat. The rest of the team nodded. JJ got up and moved to the back of the plane, clicking on the contact labeled ‘Spencer Reid’. The line rang twice and then a voice…
“Hello.” The man on the other end spoke softly.
“Hey, Spence, I was just calling to let you know that we’re heading to Las Vegas for a case… Maybe after that we can get breakfast or something.” JJ said. She heard some shuffling.
“Yeah, I’d like that, JJ. Actually, I’m the one that suggested they call you guys. I’ve been consulting on the case.” Spencer told her.
“Oh, it’ll be great to work with you again.” JJ said while grabbing a water bottle out of the mini fridge.
“Yeah, I’m excited to see you guys.” Spencer said, “Listen, my class is starting so I have to get off the phone, but I’ll see you when you land.” the phone call cut off before JJ could respond. She made her way back to her seat.
“Well, I just talked to Spence and he said that he’s consulting on this case.” JJ said, “He said that he was the one to suggest that they call us.”
“So we get to work with the boy wonder again?” Emily said, “I’m glad, I’ve missed him.”
“I think we all have.” Derek pointed out, “I was sad that he left, but I get it. Gideon was his mentor and it really hurt him when he left.”
“I can’t wait to meet Dr. Spencer Reid. I’ve heard so much about him and I think I’m the only one who hasn’t met him.” Tara said,
“He left before I joined as well.” Rossi said, “So I haven’t met the kid yet, either.” Rossi looked over at Aaron, but the man didn’t even glance.
“It will be nice to catch up, but remember we’re also working a case.” Hotch said. The others nodded and continued going over the case files. Rossi finally looked away form Hotch and back to his case files.
---
Aaron entered the local police station accompanied by Dr. Tara Lewis. The Captain met them at the door.
“You must be… Agent Hotchner.” He said, “I’m Captain Smith.” He said, offering his hand. Aaron shook the man’s hand.
“Yes, I’m Agent Aaron Hotchner and this is Dr. Tara Lewis.” He said. The Captain shook Tara’s hand.
“We’ve got you guys set up in the conference room back here. Dr. Reid set it up.” He said.
“Is he here?” Aaron asked.
“Yes, he’s setting up the evidence board you guys requested. Honestly, we’ve been stuck with this case and when he suggested calling up his old team I was definitely willing.” He said.
“It's a good thing you called us.” Tara said, “We believe that he will take another victim sometimes today if he hasn’t already. Has anyone been reported missing in the comfort zone?” The three approached the door to the conference room. The Captain opened the door and there was Spencer Reid, hanging another picture on the board.
“The lieutenant just informed me that there’s been another abduction. His name is Arthur Skinner.” Spencer started, “He was last seen in the lobby of the hotel he was staying at. Someone said they saw another man come up to him but they couldn’t give a description. We should try a cognitive.” Aaron watched the Doctor talk, he suddenly found himself distracted by the way Reid’s hair fell into his eyes, followed by Reid’s hands moving the hair away from his face.
“Ready to get going?” Tara said, looking at Aaron now.
“Oh, yes. Let's go… Reid, are you coming?” Aaron asked. He set his briefcase on the table and waited for the Doctor’s response.
“No, I’m going to stay and work on a geographical profile.” Reid said. He glanced up from the map he had just spread across the table and caught Aaron’s eye right before the man left the room. Reid gripped the pen in his hand and looked back down at his map.

“Are you sure?” Aaron asked, “I know that Gideon leaving has been hard on you, but you’re an asset to this team.”
“I’ve been offered a position as a professor at a University close to Las Vegas… My mother has been getting worse and I just need to be close to her.” Reid told his boss matter of factly.
“I understand, Reid. I’m sorry to see you go.” Aaron glanced at the stack of files that had been piling up recently. Reid followed his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Hotch… I know it's going to be difficult for a bit, but I know you guys will find someone to take my place.” Spencer reached across the desk, resting his hand on Hotch’s own folded hands. Spencer wasn’t usually one for touching, but it was different with Aaron. Spencer tried not to think about the fact that he wanted nothing more than to kiss the older Agent, but he couldn’t allow himself to do that.
“You’re going to be a great Professor, Spencer.” Aaron told him. Spencer smiled, his beautiful, shining smile. Aaron wanted to pull him in and kiss him, but he knew he couldn’t.
“Thank you, Aaron.” He said, standing up and exiting Aaron’s office. Aaron sighed and leaned back in his chair. He hadn’t thought about it much, but he knew his feelings for the younger man had gotten to be… Almost too much. Maybe now he could get them to subside.

Black Excellence 365 Spotlight: Jay Reeves
New Jersey's Jay Reeves is a multi-talented actor, producer, and musician currently starring in Safety on Disney+. Growing up, Jay ranked #9 out of 100 in the Western Region of Underclassmen and went on to play at Pasadena City College before leaving to pursue a career in acting. After experiencing homelessness, Jay went home to regroup, eventually studying acting in New York, and debuting as Shawn Scott on The CW's All-American. Jay took the time to chat with us about the making of Safety, his music, and Black Excellence. Check it out:
Which scene from Safety had the most impact on you as you were filming it, and which do you hope viewers pay the most attention to?
The most impactful scene for me was the scene about the custody of my little brother. I mean, I grew up with a single mother most of my childhood, and placing myself in that circumstance, as Ray, was hard for me. A young man who has to rise to the occasion and take custody of his little brother is a difficult situation on its own. But when you add the stakes of having such a life-altering conversation with your mother, now that is difficult. It took me to a level of vulnerability that I haven’t been able to showcase thus far.
You’ve said that “as content creators [we] have the obligation to hold a mirror up to the world.” What do you hope to reflect?
I hope to reflect honesty at all times. That’s whether I’m playing a fictional character or someone who lives on this earth, because people gravitate towards that, people love to feel. Most importantly, there’s always someone who can relate to the truth, and that’s whether it’s my truth or the truth I live through on the big screen. There’s always someone who can relate to the story at hand, so I just hope to reflect enough honesty so the audience can organically connect.
How does your experience playing football impact your approach to acting roles?
My past experience in athletics helps me keep a level of discipline when it comes to acting. Just like any professional level player, in the NFL or elsewhere, we have to work every day and treat our bodies well. That looks like eating clean, being prepared, and knowing when to rest, and that all starts with self-discipline. You have to wake up every morning and want these things for yourself before the world can see it for you. I wake up at 5 AM every day just like I’m in high school or college again playing ball. I truly believe that’s the level of intensity you should bring as an entertainer, athlete, or whatever your dream is to be.
What music are you working on right now, and can you give us a sneak peek or hint about what you have coming up?
I’m working on an EP between acting gigs, so it’s early on in the process—a hint would be too much of a giveaway. But I am working with the same folks I have in the past, Ashton McCreight and Spencer Nezey. It’s early in the developmental process, but I trust these guys, and I can’t wait to see what we can collaborate on and put together. However, I did drop two EPs on SoundCloud this week, so be sure to tune in!
If your life was a choose-your-own-adventure, what decisions would viewers have to make on an average day?
Luckily, I do have a career where I can choose my adventure daily. Being an actor, I find myself studying and always learning about so many different careers and life decisions. What’s also cool about being a filmmaker is you get to play around with different periods, so I’m not confined to a box or any kind of structure. We get to imagine and break any form of limitation.
When you hear the phrase “Black Excellence,” what or who comes to mind?
When I hear Black excellence, I can’t help but think of Issa Rae and her infamous speech of saying, “I’m rooting for everyone Black,” because that is how I feel. Black excellence goes so deep, and there’s enough success on this earth for us all to be excellent. As a Black man, I hope to one day no longer be confined to just having the label of Black Excellence, but reaching higher and achieving overall human excellence as a Black man. My mother’s side of my family came from Monrovia, Liberia. I am my ancestors’ wildest dream!
How did you find your voice?
I found my voice falling flat on my face. I moved to Los Angeles, but things didn’t work out on my first go-around. I didn’t have money, and I lost my support by making dumb decisions, so I went back home and scraped up every single dollar and sent off the most prayers I think I’ve ever had in my life. Doing so allowed me to dig deep within myself and realize my true potential—but without that moment of failure, I wouldn’t have had my back against the wall to do so. If you’re dealing with fear, I encourage you to face it with faith because that is how I found my voice, and I’m pretty sure it’s how you’ll find yours.
You have the opportunity to ask an all-knowing genie one question. What do you ask?
If I had the opportunity to ask a genie a question, I would ask him what stock is going to short through the roof because then I would just dump all of my investments and savings into that and ride the wave. But that might be illegal for the genie to tell me that. As young people, I believe we need to no longer be consumers of a product but be producers and makers of products.
What advice would you give to young Black talent looking to get their first break in the entertainment industry?
Shoot your shot, reach out to these CEOs and ask them for advice. Don’t be afraid to ask questions…look for information, look for a mentor and work hard. Nothing worth it is easy. And you wouldn’t want it to be easy anyway. The person we become as we follow our dreams and hit the ground or backs against the wall is the true blessing. The success is the cherry on top.
How do you practice self-care?
I take good care of myself, and it’s as simple as that. I eat clean, I work out, and most importantly, I feed my spirit daily. Even if I’m not feeling in the mood, I’ll pray, and I take time to give thanks. I do whatever it takes for me to feel 100% because health is wealth.
Thanks for taking the time, Jay! Safety is now streaming on Disney+.

"can you shut up for once in your life?" for psych. I would specify a character but we all know it's gonna be directed at shawn
Despite being an angst prompt, this wound up being not super angsty but oh well. It’s got found family and that was the goal. Set somewhere in late season 4. Putting it under a read more just in case cause it’s like 800 words.
Psych - Angst + #11 "Can you shut up for once in your life?"
He's not really sure how they got into this situation. All he knows is that one second, he and Shawn are sneaking onto the property of a farmer (who Shawn believed to be a suspect), Juliet and Lassie hot on their heels, and the next second they're all tied up in a barn.
Actually, perhaps he does know how they got into this situation, considering the answer is currently running his mouth.
"Soooo what exactly is your plan here? Because you've got two police detectives and two police consultants tied up in your barn here. You're already a suspect. It just seems like poor planning."
Now Gus didn’t think it was a really great plan to provoke the guy who kidnapped them, and who also had a barrage of farm tools at his ready. He didn’t exactly feel like being tortured today. Though, he’d have to hand it to Shawn, he certainly knew how to get under someone’s skin.
The farmer was pacing back and forth, rubbing his muddied hands on his even muddier jeans and muttering to himself. He certainly didn’t look like someone who had a diabolical plan but after four years of doing this, Gus didn’t like to make assumptions.
Well, regardless of Gus’ own thoughts on what Shawn should and should not do, he can always count on Lassie to vocalize them for him. “Spencer, what are you doing?” The lanky detective hisses. Earlier Gus was thankful to have been put between Shawn and Gus but now... he’s not so sure.
“Relax Lassie, I’ve got this.”
“You’re going to get us all killed.”
“I don’t know Carlton,” Juliet finally speaks up, her voice equally hushed, and Gus has to crane his head to see her-- her small body being covered by Lassie’s much larger one. “Shawn has been held hostage a lot, maybe he knows what he’s doing.”
He can’t help but chuckle at that. “I don’t think Shawn ever knows what he’s doing.”
“Gus- guys, come on, what is this? Pick on Shawn Spencer day?"
“And how is that different from most other days.” He can see Lassie smiling to himself out of pride, though Shawn’s voice is quick to wipe that off his face.
“Aw Lassie, you made a joke. I’m so proud of you.” His best friend cranes his head, looking down the row at all of them. “Relax guys, I’ve got this.”
Gus grimaces. That’s exactly what he’s afraid of.
“Excuse me, Mr Farmer Sir. I was wondering if you possibly knew my farmer friend and could call him? He’d help clear up this whole situation.”
The farmer’s head whips towards them. “Be quiet!”
Naturally, Shawn keeps talking. “His name is McDonald, he’s kind of old but he can still get the job done.”
“Oh my gosh. We’re going to die here.” Juliet mutters.
“Regretting vouching for Spencer?” Lassie asks flatly and Gus figures it’s a rhetorical question.
If Shawn hears either of them, it certainly doesn’t stop him. “He’s got some animals. A pig that goes oink oink here, and oink oink there. Sometimes when I visit it feels like here’s an oink and there’s an oink. Oinks just everywhere!”
“I said be quiet!” The farmer shouts, “I’m trying to think!”
“He’s got a cow too.” Gus can practically hear all of them sighing at once. “That animal goes moo--”
The farmer roars and rushes forward, grabbing Shawn by the front of his shirt. Judging by how wide Shawn’s eyes go, Gus has to guess that this was not the intended result. Though he’s not exactly sure what type of result Shawn was hoping to get here.
“You annoying little-” The farmer pauses for a moment, as if searching for the right word and winds up settling on just yelling. “Can you shut up for once in your life!?”
“Hey now!” Gus hears his own voice yell. It’s a little odd, this sudden bought of courage, but then again that is his best friend. Plus he had been shot not too long ago, and Gus couldn’t live himself if anything else bad happened to him. “Shawn may be annoying and never knows when to be quiet, but that doesn’t give you the right to tell him to shut up!”
“Yeah! He may be incapable of being quiet but he’s also the best private detective around here and a great friend!” Juliet chimes in.
Lassie grunts in agreement. “Plus, you’re looking at a pretty hefty harassment charge right there on top of your murder, kidnapping, and kidnapping an officer charges. You might want to rethink this.”
Despite being possibly strangled by his shirt collar, Shawn seems to be beaming. The farmer, on the other hand, looks like someone just knocked the air out of him.
Making eye contact with Shawn, Gus smiles. “Shawn’s an idiot, but he’s our idiot.”

What’s it to you?
*Long post ahead
There is something on my mind. It’s called Occam’s Razor. The definition I know is, or rather the interpretation in my head is, it’s a gray area, a fine line. So for example, when it comes to Buck and Eddie, I do believe they play right on the Occam’s Razor. The fact that they could be this or they could be that, riding that fine line, which one is true?
Picture this and imagine you’re seeing jealous Buck:
Tumblr media
Option 1: Jealous Buck idea pushes the razor to the more romantic, buried feelings thing we Buddie clowns are thinking about.
Option 2: If you don't view it that way, you could then simply see Buck maybe panicking because of his abandonment issues. For example, Buck’s reaction face becomes more like heyo Eddie doesn’t just get to so easily partner off with another firefighter outside the 118 like that [in this case being him or Hen as Eddie’s only option Buck accepts] until they finally ease into helping the 126 with these fires, Buck himself even.
Option 3: We’re speculating our asses off no matter if you believe in option 1 and/or 2, and we do not yet know what’s going on in this scene...
Therefore we’re split down the razor’s edge. Then I also think of this video. The fact that Buck and Eddie fall under the “just let the bromos be homos?” category. They have the cooked up potential for something more and not to just remain a “healthy male friendship.” When we have proper queer representation in combination with “healthy male friendship” then we can talk about the latter. I’m trying to rack my brain for healthy male friendships, but I come back to that video and the laundry list of mlm couples in the just let the bromos be homos category. My brain wanted to say FinnPoe from Star Wars as a healthy male friendship, but then that’s still part of the same category and all I can hear is Oscar Isaac praising the notion that these two characters could be falling in love during wartime...but apparently Disney/the world isn’t ready for that...?
The problem is I cannot think of any representation for healthy male friendships. I keep thinking Shawn Spencer and Burton “Gus” Guster from Psych, but even then there were definite issues surrounding their friendship...if you watched that show. Now, with that show I did believe that Shawn Spencer is bisexual, but I don't headcanon that his awakening happened with Gus. It just happened and he’s known about it for most of his life (like since 18 probably) and Gus knows it too. But again it’s never explicitly made so, it’s always hinted at though. Also, don't get started on Teen Wolf if you’re thinking about that one. I don't pay any attention and maybe it’s because I may not be seeking it out...but I cannot think of a single thing I’ve watched with healthy friendships, save for perhaps in Thor Ragnarok the trio that is Hulk/Banner, Thor and Valkyrie when they’re not fighting each other. Though, there is the case of Gary and Miranda in the BBC show called Miranda. They could’ve had a good run as just friends, but clearly it wasn’t unheard of to think of a hetero pairing starting off as just friends to become more, obvi. Back to 911...
As we teeter this Occam’s Razor, all I ask for is explicit admittance from Buck that he is bisexual. Just for him to say it to close friends and family.  For him to feel okay with the fact that he likes boys too. So yes, he has little or no experience, but he can’t help but feel attracted to men as well. Banking on the South America exploration/runaway to expound on this some more. That yes, Buck has known about his bisexuality and does know how he truly feels, but for whatever reasons he’s not ready to show/tell those true feelings to anyone else. For whatever reasons he had to build/hide behind the chaotic sex addicted punk persona that he named Buck 1.0.
I also don't believe that everything needs to be boxed into a corner. 911 was the show that sparked a procedural TV drama to life and thus it created 911 Lonestar as a way to probably showcase a different state and how they handle these emergencies/fires. Who the hell knows, perhaps it’s just for more money? It’s just I don't think it’s a matter of 911 is the mostly “hetero show” whereas 911 Lonestar is “the show for the gays” because it has the canon gay couple. Well, for the record 911 also has a canon lesbian/gay couple; Hen and Karen. What I mean to say is that irl there are LGBT+ folk everywhere, therefore more of them can appear as characters in 911, or even in Lonestar as well. LGBT+ people live in CA and TX; sometimes 911 did the peripheral gay couples who found themselves caught in an emergency situation (the boy with the crush outside the coffee shop, that couple in which one of them had tapeworm and Buck nonchalantly just yanked that thing out...and then of course the older couple who were so graciously paralleled to Buck…). Oh, you can’t forget Josh in 911, who also seemingly thought Maddie was once setting him up with Buck. Also note it wasn’t written as Buck denying Josh on that thought. He just ran with it, no qualms, and we didn’t have some unnecessary “no homo” backlash which leaves room for us to say wait, a gosh darn minute? Are we still leaving room for Buck figuring something out and/or coming closer to accepting himself? Ps. It also wasn’t written for Maddie to decline the notion either. She of course jokingly said her brother wasn’t good enough for Josh and honestly, I think we got {Oliver playing} Buck as a bit offended by Maddie doing that.
Buck is also a double edged sword. So is Eddie. You have two men presented as so strong, so masculine that the instant it’s thought they might like men, it’s damaging to their masculinity somehow. That’s called toxic masculinity which is something Buck and even Eddie occasionally fall into. I think they’ve definitely grown out of that with the help of others and each other even, but I think this is why us crazy shippers wanting Buddie and/or Buck revealed as bisexual is so jarring to others- Toxic masculinity? Fragility? The fact that if men like Buck and Eddie are viewed to be gay/bi then it hurts this notion of what it means to be a strong man. But let’s box it into a corner because 911 Lonestar is the gay show and thus we think less of the characters TK and Carlos because they are gay- not all equivalent in strength to the “healthy male friendship” that is Buck and Eddie? When in fact the four of these characters have similarities? TK and Buck are so very reckless, dive in no questions asked kind of thing and it seems to me that Eddie and Carlos would be the take orders kind of men. They will fall in line with the occasional reckless decision...so therefore they have more similarities than just the four of them belonging to the LGBT+ community...or regardless of if they do all belong in that community together- the whole point is that in real life the Buck and Eddie dynamic of a friendship (or the possibility of something more, as one or both characters coming to terms with their sexuality) exists in the same world with relationships that are similar to TK and Carlos’. So the two supposed bromos (just friends) exist in the same world as the homos...therefore unboxing the shows from their corners entirely.
Another thing that I think this thing around Buck is falling prey to, is that bi guys are just faking it. It’s one stop on the way to figuring out that “they’re actually just gay.” Except no that’s not the case with bisexuality. For some people, it could be, but from what I see with Buck it’s not that at all. He’s bisexual, that’s that.
Also, most everyone thinks those who ship Buddie want Buck revealed as bisexual to only be with Eddie and to see two sexy men get it on. Honestly, 911 Lonestar did provide sufficiently with that, because them TK and Carlos scenes are downright drool worthy, but that’s not all I came for. Anyway, I clocked Buck as possibly bi in season 1- the full moon ep, where yes he’s getting closer to Abby, but damn does he get on well with that gay guy who had tapeworm. Well, shit. Then after Eddie’s introduction they go on to parallel Buck to that older gay couple...anyhow, it’s just why keep putting Buck in a queer space and then not run with that? Yes, sure there are strong straight allies to the LGBT+ community, but Buck doesn’t read heterosexual ally to me, it feels more like the LGBT+ community is where he belongs. I’d say Eddie Diaz belongs there too, but he’s like a mystery on this front. I think he understands his feelings/attractions towards men and he’d respond like yeah, sure, they’ve been there, but I haven’t done shit about them and I haven’t labelled them [gay/bi]. What’s it to you? And if eventually this involved Buck, he’d be like yeah, so I’m head over heels for that smart and lovable reckless idiot, what else do you want me to say?

Hey there! Could you maybe do Headcanons about Reader being Peters best friend and outing themselves as Genderfluid? Thank you so much
hihihi!!
I think he knows how much it means to you that you’re able to come out to him
He’s really really happy that you feel comfortable enough to
He’s an idiot really supportive friend
But sometimes he messes up pronouns
He tries his hardest that’s not the issue
It’s just a force of habit for him
But every time that it happens
He apologizes profusely, restates the sentence with correct pronouns, and won’t bring it up again unless you ask to speak to him about it
He makes sure to note that it’s not because he truly sees you as whatever gender he’s just misgendered you as
It’s just that head empty
No thoughts
Wbk he trips over his words a lot and I feel like that’d come back to bite him in that situation because he goes too fast
He feels really bad every time but you understand that it’s a bit of a  change and because he’s so respectful and polite about it
You don’t get angry
You can tell that he’s trying and that he loves you :’)
This situation really makes him think more before he speaks though because he cares a lot about you and wants to make sure that you know that
I think that he’d ask you from time to time (or every day) how you were feeling
He wouldn’t treat you any differently based off of your answer
But he just wants to know
If you want him to, he’ll use pronouns based off of what that day/week/month/etc is like
Which is why he asks
He won’t correct people that use the wrong pronouns unknowingly
Because he doesn’t want to come out for you
So unless you publicly come out he won’t do anything
But he will grab your hand and squeeze it if someone misgenders you
If the person does know and uses the wrong pronouns
Accidental or not
He will cut them off, correct them, then let them continue
If you ever need to borrow some of his clothes he is 100% down
and if you wanted to go shopping for new clothes just bc you feel like you need a change
He’ll go with you
Stark pays well
if he goes out and sees a product relating to genderfluidity like a lil button or something or a tiny flag
It’s coming home with him
He finds a lot of funds and donates
You have like 0639769376 buttons that you don’t know where to put
You managed to cover an entire backpack with them like not even just a pocket or something like no the whole thing
seriously he’s draining his bank account one pocket sized flag at a time
overall just 10/10 supportive
:’) Congrats on coming out love, if you’ve just done so, and even if you haven’t, I’m still really proud of you <333

Psych whumptober day 2
Shawn awoke with a start on the uncomfortable hard bed, in the cell. Backtracking Shawn swept his environment, again to make sure. Slowly his memories of the previous night came back to him the bitter truth that had come out.
The fact that he was indeed a fake psychic.
He regretted what he had done, regretted lying about a month after he initially did it, but it was not like he could tell Gus or his father, they would not understand. He was met for the open road, for freedom, so in his attempt to stay out of jail he had ended up in jail.
To be fair this was a few years down the line, from when he had originally started working, as a “psychic” detective. He had still ended up in jail again for the first time in seven years unless he counted the brief stint he did in Mexico, but he was choosing not to.
Leaning his head up against the wall, feeling the cold stone, that helped ease his throbbing head, Shawn let out a sigh. Standing up he asked the unrecognizable person, who was sitting there watching over the holding cells,
“Can I…”
“Spencer, good you are awake,” Lassie said strolling into the room with a grin on his face, probably mainly from the fact that he was right all along, that Shawn Henry Spencer was a fake.
To be completely honest, he was almost happy that he had been caught, but he would never tell Lassie that. It was just getting tiring in Santa Barabra, claustrophobic too. He wanted to feel the open roads again, and he would after this whole thing was over. Longed for the wind in his face rushing through his leather jacket.
“Spencer, you have no idea how long I have waited for this,” Lassiter said rubbing his hands together.
“753 days, 2 hours 34 minutes 45 seconds and counting,” Shawn said carefully, looking over at the clock by the desk, making sure he got it right.
Lassiter gave Shawn an incredulous look like Shawn was crazy to be quite honest there were times where Shawn was not sure he was sane himself so it was not like he could blame lassie.
Opening up the door to the cell, lassie, grabbed Shawn’s hands cuffing them, and leading him to a room that Shawn had been to dozens of times before. The stark silent interrogation room. Shawn sat in the suspect's chair, a chair he had not been in for 753 days 2 hours 47 minutes and 11 seconds. Sitting down Shawn looked around and waited for Lassie to sit in.
Once Lassiter had sat down Shawn uttered a single word, a word that Carlton hated with a burning passion.
“Lawyer.”
“Okay spencer we will get you a public defender,” Lassie said begrudgingly, but knowing that Shawn could not afford an actual lawyer.
“I have a lawyer I just needed to call her,” Shawn said nervously, fidgeting around slightly knowing that there was a strong chance she had changed her number and that she might not want to talk to him.
“Wait Shawn Spencer, who I am pretty sure borrows most o his rent money from Guster can actually afford a lawyer,” Lasiter said not keeping the shock out of his voice, “He is probably the cheapest lawyer that there is.”
Looking hurt at first but then grinning slightly Shawn Cheekily said,
“She is actually not super cheap.”
“Whatever, Spencer I will have Buzz bring you a phone,” Lassie said leaving the interrogation room.
Buzz, who happened to be waiting out there, probably slightly out of it due to the fact that his idol was currently arrested for allegedly not being a psychic, handed the phone to Lasiter who immediately when back in and set it on the table.
“Here call her,” Lassiter said stepping away from the table, as spencer who somehow got his hands out of the handcuffs, like Lassiter knew he would but did not care enough to do anything about it picked up the phone and put in a number, holding it to his ear.
“Jade James, how may I help you?” Jade said cheerfully.
“Ah listen, Jade, I got into some trouble and I need a lawyer,” Shawn said his eyes flicking over to Lassiter briefly before returning to look at the table.
“Spencer, define trouble,” Jade said anger leaking into her voice.
“well currently there is a detective who hates my guts staring me down so…” Shawn said trailing off.
“Fine where are you, this does not mean I forgive you,” Jade said
“Santa Barbara,” Shawn said.
“Okay give me five hours,” Jade said abruptly hanging up the phone.
Shawn handed the phone to Lassiter, who asked,
“So is she coming,”
“Yeah, she will be here in five hours,”
Walking out the door to the other side, Lassiter looked at Juliet, and Chief Vick, who looked concerned and slightly worried. Mainly for the future of the department.
Lassiter could say that he had no regrets in arresting Shawn Spencer.
Karen Vick regrets were not about Shawn’s arrest, but for even letting this situation happen in the first place.
Juliet had no regrets for a change, she had every reason not to have any.
Gus had regrets about how this all ended.
Henry had regrets about how he had raised Shawn, not that he would ever tell him that.
Shawn had regrets so many regrets…

Opposing Gangs Part 6
Surprise Update!!! part 5
Tumblr media
Tagged @shawn-youth
Entering the school halls on Monday morning does nothing to help my mood that has plummeted since Friday night. My weekend was dealt with a gruelling workout session with my dad which was made worse when he noticed the hickey littering my neck.  After a hurl of verbal assault at one another I had left the house and was eventually dragged back by a very annoyed James. After another verbal argument doors were slammed and a glass had been broken when I had thrown it down the stairs to the floor.
So as I slammed my locker shut and adjusted my sleeved shirt to hide the bruises Shawn had caused it wasn’t just at the fact that I was already sweating in the long-sleeved shirt, my short skirt only slightly cooled down me down but my knee high boots didn’t help much more.
“Someone is mad today?” Maddy says leaning against the locker I had just slammed shut. Glaring at her I readjust my books in my hands. “you wanna tell me why? Or are you just gonna brood and swallow in self-pity and anger?” she asks moving off the locker as I start walking.
“I did something I wasn’t supposed to and now I’m mad at myself” I grit out.
“what weren’t you supposed to do?” she asks as we round the corner and I walk face first into someone, knocking my books out of my hands. I huff out in straight annoyance.
“Do. You. Mind?” I say angrily.
“No, I don’t” the deep voice washes over me as I glare into his eyes. Starring into his eyes and his very kissable lips I feel an anger boiling inside of me. I drop down to pick up my books. “let me help” he says crouching down.
“I don’t need your help” I grit out.
“why are you so mad?” he whispers to me.
“no reason” I say standing back up.
He begins to lean in and my body tenses, leaning down to my ear, his lip just brushing the lobe I stop a shiver. “does my very presence set you on edge?” as he leans back purposely brushing his teeth against the shell of my ear. I glare in him.
“yes it does” and as I respond I can’t help but kick him in the shin. As he groans in pain I shove past him.
“now that was uncalled for” he shouts as I walk off. My shout of annoyance follows down the hall back to him.
Skipping first class I sit out in the bleachers calming myself down.
“you good now?” Maddy voice almost makes me jump.
“god! Don’t scare me like that” I say leaning back down against the bleachers. “what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in class?” I say stretching my legs out in front of me.
“aren’t you?” she says sitting down next to me.
“touché, but does any teacher want an angry Carter in their room?” I respond.
“you going to tell me why you are mad? Does it have something to do with someone you kicked 30 minutes ago” she says bumping my shoulder. I just sigh.
“I just had a really big argument with my dad over the weekend” I say crossing my arms over my chest.
“and?” she says spinning her hand in front of her as if to tell her that she is aware I am leaving something out.
“what my dad does not know is that I hooked up with someone I shouldn’t have on Friday night” I say looking at my feet.
“Shawn?” she asks.
“yep” I say bluntly. “and the thing that is pissing me off is that I want to do it again, but clearly that cant happen. And my dad doesn’t know who it is and decided to call me every name under the fucking sound” I say starring out at the field to the elective sports class.
“ah so that’s why you’re wearing a long sleeved shirt in this heat” she says nudging me again.
“when I say it was good, I mean rough” I say laughing.
“okay so why’d we kick him then?” she asks laughing.
“because if someone finds out about this, him and I are dead, and we had agreed that morning we would stay one another and that night he’s holding me against the wall by the throat. And he is setting me on edge” I say huffing.
“I could imagine, with those smouldering eyes, those perfect lips, big hands, oh and don’t forget those muscles.” She says so close to my ear.
“don’t get me started” I say shoving her.
“okay” she says hands up laughing. “but would it be so bad if you two did get together?” she asks. Standing up and collecting my stuff.
“it would be bad. Like very bad, like could be disowned, could be war. But also the fear of not being caught is sort of exciting” I say giving her my hand to help her up.
“you are playing a very dangerous game” she says grabbing onto my hand and pulling herself up.
“don’t need to tell me twice” I say hooking arms with her. “so tell me what is happening with you and James” I ask as we walk towards class.
“it’s going, he doesn’t want to say anything to anyone, but its going” she says. Both of us smiling we make our way to class.
“ah glad you two could grace us with your presence” Ms Spencer tells us.
“Oh miss, the pleasure is all mine” I say holding my hand up to my heart.
“well with pleasure you two are now in after-school detention” she gives us a sickly sweet smile.
“ugh” I say dumping my stuff down at my table.
“if you want to skip next time, maybe don’t come halfway through class.” She says.
“Be glad I even rocked up to this stupid fucking class.” I say dropping into my seat.
“excuse me?” she says.
“Do you really want to deal with a pissed off Carter?” I ask. “because I am pretty fucking pissed off today” I say leaning forward in my desk.
“how about you go to the principle’s officer?” she asks.
“how about… no?” I say crossing my arms.
“now. Miss Carter” she says.
“how about this? I’ll leave but im not going to the office because you know they’ll just send me back here. So I’ll just go for a walk” I say standing up. “James or Maddy be a dear and take my books to the next class” walking to the door.
“wait. If you’re going to leave then someone needs to go with you. I do not trust you to not wreak havoc if you go by yourself” she says.
“fine, I’ll take Maddy or James” both go to move.
“no. you’ll take… Jayne” she says.
“if I go with her the second we walk out of this door I will break her nose” I smile.
“fine. Shawn go with her” she sighs.
“he can say goodbye to ever being able to have children” I smile brightly now.
“as if I’d allow you to get close enough for that to happen” he says standing up chucking his books on to Marcel’s desk.
“all my years in being a teacher and I have never dealt with someone so disrespectful” Ms Spencer grunts out.
“you’re welcome for the learning experience.” I spin on my heel and exit the classroom.
Walking through the halls off the school is almost comforting. Almost.
“so do you want to tell me why you kicked me in the shin?” he asks from behind me.
“because you irk me” I say matter-of-factly.
“and why is that?” he asks slightly closer.
“why are you standing so close to me?” I ask turning around as he almost collides with my chest.
“does it irk you?” he says leaning down. Lifting my foot up I stomp down on his foot. “my god you are acting like a child having a temper tantrum” he says groaning through the pain of my heel hitting his foot.
“I don’t understand why you won’t stay away from me. We had a deal” I say turning back around.
“that was broken the minute you straddled me in gym class and the minute you said agreed to sleep with me” he says walking back into me as I halt my walking. “god can you stop doing that!” he almost shouts.
“why? making you uncomfortable” I say putting my hands on my hips.
“slightly!” he says running his hand through his hair.
“and why is that?” I say pushing him in the chest.
“you know exactly why. You think you’re on edge I am in the exact same situation!” he pulls at his hair.
“why do you have to keep being everywhere I am!” I say shoving him again. “why do you have to be here right now!” another shove. “and why do you have to be so god damn fucking present!” I say shoving him again. He grips onto my wrist.          Pulling me against him.
“calm down” he says, his lips so close to mine. “take a breath” he says wrapping one arm around me. “now tell me what is really bothering you” he says his other hand goes to the back of my neck.
“I- just” taking in a deep breath of him I relax into him, fisting my hands in his shirt as he just holds me. “god I just wish this could be real without any consequences” I say holding onto him just slightly tighter.
“me too, Noora, me too” he holds onto a tighter. “you know you don’t make it easy in that short skirt” he says squeezing me tighter.
“me? It’s not my fault that there are hickey’s all over my neck and bruises over my throat and wrists” I scoff.
“have you not seen my neck?” he asks pulling his collar to the side. I can’t help but laugh.
“that is nothing look at these!” I say shoving my sleeves down and pulling my collar to the side to show the bruises.
“you did want it rough?” he says trying not to laugh.
“good point. You better let go before someone sees” I say resting my head against his chest.
“just give it another second” he says holding me tighter. We stand like that for longer than a second. But we jump so far apart when a throat clears behind us.
“what the fuck is this?”

If you haven't ever watched Psych about a fake psychic detective, please...do so. You have no idea the laughter that is missing from your life. If you are a fan of delicious flavor, then read on.
I have no idea who to tag other than my other fellow Psych lover, @hopelessromantic1352
Masterlist
History? What About Her Story?
"My love, have you seen the book you gave me on our wedding day?" Liam walked along the shelves of the palace library, searching each brown leather spine.
"No. I don't believe I have seen it since the reception." Riley set her book down and began to help him search. "Did you allow someone to borrow it?"
"No." He frowned and called for Bastien. A search was conducted with no results.
"It has to be somewhere in here." She muttered.
Maxwell and Drake joined them, bringing Hana and Olivia. After much discussion, Maxwell offered to call in a favor.
"I know a guy who is able to solve these type of mysteries." He pulled his phone out and scrolled through his contacts.

Santa Barbara, California
"Chief, the psychic realm is buzzing with gossip and a little ethereal bird told me to stop by." Shawn announced, bursting in on a meeting between Chief Vick, Head Detective Carlton Lassiter, and Detective Juliet O'Hara.
"Mr. Spencer, I don't know what birds are whispering in your ear but they need to remind you not to interrupt a meeting." She said in a frustrated tone.
"Sorry Chief, but when they tweet, I must answer. Usually with hashtags. Right, Gus?" Shawn turned to his best friend and partner.
"It's true Chief. He uses an unusual amount of hashtags." Gus added.
"Dude! You know my Twitter followers need to be in the know. I can't just offer a thought without a dozen or so carefully phrased hashtags to explain it's significance." Shawn reached over for Juliet's doughnut and was immediately batted away.
"Jules! Sharing is caring." He reminded her.
"If there are doughnuts, we need to be made aware of their location." Gus searched the room and looked out toward the main room of the police station.
"Enough!" Carlton yelled. "Spencer, you and Gusster go find a doughnut and leave."
"Come on, Lassie. Don't you want to break bread with us. Or a doughnut as the case might be while we discuss the next step in our investigation?" Shawn tried to secretly slide Juliette's doughnut his way, earning another slap.
"I would rather go to a hot yoga class with McNabb." Carlton uttered in a deadpan voice.
"Well, I for one am ready to find this Corduroy antique." Shawn said sitting down and propping his feet up on the table.
"Cordonian." Gus corrected.
"I've heard it both ways." Shawn quickly repsonded.
"Shawn you didn't even know it was a country." Gus added.
"Gus, I can't help that the psychic tweets didn't give a geography lesson with the message. There's only a limited number of characters allowed." Shawn argued.
"Gentlemen!" Chief Vick interrupted. She stared pointedly at Shawn until he took his feet off the conference table. "Due to the international attention you and Lassister and O'Hara have gained with past investigations, the King and Queen of Cordonia have asked the four of you to come help find out what happened to one of the king’s prized possessions. The mayor insists you go to show how Santa Barbara is keeping up international relations."
"The tweets never lie." Shawn said, a smile lighting up his face. "What type of clothing should we pack?"
"It's in the Mediterranean." Juliet told him.
"So, snowsuit?" Shawn asked.
"Be ready to leave first thing tomorrow morning. King Liam is sending his private plane for you." Vick flicked her hands for them to leave.

"Gus, I was meant for this lifestyle. Private planes. Servants. Ruling over a small country. Adored by my people." Shawn reclined in the Corinthian leather chair as the plane flew over the Atlantic.
"Dude, your people would overthrow you within a week." Gus muttered.
"And what a glorious week it would be." Shawn replied.
Gus glanced behind him to where Juliet and Carlton were sleeping. "What did Maxwell tell you?"
"Some brown book filled with the country’s history is missing. The queen presented it as a wedding gift. Who gives their spouse an ancient book as a gift on their wedding night? Do you think there was underwear in it? I bet--"
"Shawn." Gus attempted to reign Shawn's ramblings in.
"Anyway, they can't find it. So it is up to us to find out who took it, why they did, and where it is now."
"Great. Did Maxwell offer any leads?"
Shawn frowned. "No...but how many people actually were in a small palace of a tiny country?"

Liam and Riley walked with Maxwell down the corridor. "A psychic?" Liam asked again. "I can't believe we invited a psychic detective to assist in this."
Maxwell nodded. "Shawn isn't some run of the mill psychic. He has solved numerous thefts, murders, even stopped a notorious serial killer. I think he will have this book back in your hands by this evening."
They walked into the study and warmly greeted their guests.
"Maxwell!" Shawn walked up and fist bumped him. "How long has it been?"
"Um...I want to say a two months since I was in Canada. The whole book tour being interrupted by Pierre Despereaux's thefts was when we last met." Maxwell explained.
"Thefts?" Riley asked.
"An international art thief, your majesty." Juliet explained, dropping into an awkward curtsy.
"Please, there is no need for any of that." Riley said with a smile. "I'm still not used to it. Every time someone needs a refill on drinks, I hop up to get it."
Juliet laughed and clapped her hands. "Your story is the stuff of dreams. I love how you and King Liam met."
"O'Hara." Carlton muttered.
"Right. Sorry." Juliet straightened up beside him.
"Can you tell us if you have any new staff, possibly seen anyone suspicious around the book?" Carlton asked.
"No, most have been here for years. The ones visiting the palace are nobles and friends that have never caused a problem of this sort." Liam explained.
"Of this sort?" Gus repeated. "So there have been problems?"
Liam shared a loaded glance with Riley. "I recently created a council of both nobles and commoners to help my queen and I rule to the best of our abilities. After the terrorist attacks from the Sons of the Earth, I wanted to try and not allow a situation like that to develop again."
Shawn raised his hand to his head. "I'm sensing that there were a few who did not agree with this."
Riley nodded, eyes wide. "There were some, one in particular, Lord Neville."
"The singer of Tell It Like It Is?" Shawn asked.
"That's Aaron Neville." Gus corrected.
"Right, the quarterback for Green Bay." Shawn asked.
"That's Aaron Rogers!" Gus exclaimed
"Right. Love his neighborhood." Shawn put his hand back to his head. "I'm sensing that Lord Rogers--"
"Neville." Gus whispered.
"That Lord Neville might wish to get back at you. Mayhap even--" he turned to Gus. "Did I use mayhap right?"
"Yes." Gus answered
"Too pretentious?" Shawn furrowed his brow.
"A little bit." Gus shrugged.
"It's this setting. I mean look at this place. Velvet sitting chairs. Who has this? Really, even velvet drapes? Does Elton John visit?" Shawn walked over and lifted the red drape.
"He has..." Liam replied, trying to keep up with Shawn's thought process.
"Is he planning on visiting soon?"
"I--" Liam shrugged. "I don't think so."
"Hmm. To solve this mystery, I am going to need to become one with this palace. I am going to need to eat what you eat. Sit where you sit. Touch what you touch." Shawn winked at Riley, earning a smack to the back of the head from Carlton.
He glared at Shawn before turning to Liam. "Rest assured that O'Hara and I will do all we can to solve this for you."
"If you wouldn't mind, we need to speak to your head of security." Juliet added.
"Of course, right this way." Liam and Riley walked out with the two detectives.
Maxwell grinned. "Alright guys, show me that magic you did in Canada."
"Oh you will see the magic." Shawn promised.
"We got magic for days." Gus added.
"At least for a couple of hours." Shawn corrected. "Maybe an encore card trick or two."
Maxwell chuckled and finger gunned them on his way out. "Great. Let me know if you need anything."
"Magic for days? Really Gus?" Shawn shook his head and left the study.
"What? The man asked for it. What was I supposed to say? Shawn!" Gus ran after him.

"We start with the list Maxwell gave us of those that are normally in the palace." Shawn explained. "From there, we can easily say Neville did it and we receive some kind of royal award, like a spare chest of jewels or a quick swim in the gold vault."
"Liam is not Scrooge McDuck." Gus reminded him.
"Are you saying he doesn't have a gigantic money vault that he secretly swims in while wearing a bathing suit from the turn of the century?"
"Yes. That's what I'm saying."
"Well, that's disappointing." Shawn muttered.
The pair stopped by an office and knocked. When they opened the door they saw a petite, strikingly beautiful blonde filing some papers. "Who are you?" She asked, eyes narrowing.
"My name is Shawn Spencer and this is my partner, Sir Spinsalot. We have been asked to assist in locating the King's missing book."
Madeleine sat down behind her desk. "And?"
"We were wondering who you suspected." Gus leaned closer. "A lady of your talents of changing the minds of the people should have a few suspects in mind."
A proud smile formed. "When King Liam chose an American waitress as his Queen, there were some that were less enthused with his choice."
Shawn zeroed in on her fingers tensing, the old issues of magazines behind her desk, and the faint tan line on her ring finger. There was also a flyer partially hidden with the word rebound on it. A sticky note had a m and a f with groups of numbers listed. 1728 and 1817 were written down. "I'm sensing that these nobles preferred someone else. They wanted you to be queen."
She momentarily stilled. "Yes they did. After my upbringing as the Countess of Fydella, I was the natural choice as queen."
"I bet they were disappointed when Liam ended your engagement." Gus added.
A hard glint came into her eyes. "I suppose so. Who wouldn't wish for one trained since birth how to run a country and interact with nobles and dignitaries around the world without an entourage to constantly tell her what to do?"
"Good to see you're not bitter." Shawn stood up. "Thank you for your time."
"Do you think she did it?" Gus whispered as they walked down the hall.
"Nah. She has moved on with this new position. Plus it looks like she is getting some type of rebound counseling after being dumped. She's the kind that has to be needed." He explained.
"I think I could need her." Gus grinned, brushing his thumb across his nose.
"I say this with all the love in my heart. Something is wrong with you." Shawn stepped outside.

"He did it." Shawn nodded toward a man dressed in a demin shirt talking to Juliet.
"What? That's the King's best friend!" Gus exclaimed.
"Doesn't matter. He did it." Shawn persisted. "Only a thief would flirt to distract the investigation."
"He's not flirting. Juliet is." Gus pointed out.
"Man." Shawn shook his head and walked over.
Juliet was smiling. "....I named him Sprinkles because of his dappled coat."
Drake's smirk appeared and he looked up as Shawn and Gus approached. Juliet turned and introduced them.
"Drake, this is Shawn Spencer and Burton Gusster."
He nodded to them. "How's the investigation going? Any leads?"
"It's going." Shawn answered. "I'm not at liberty to reveal any parts."
Drake cocked an eyebrow. "You're not at liberty?"
"That's right, Jack! The psychic's relationship with the visions he is given is precious. Has to be nurtured. It's a circle of trust and it gets upset when I share its secrets with suspiciously handsome dudes that flex their muscles in a barn. Or stable. Is this a stable?" Shawn pulled the door open.
"It's a stable." Gus decided.
Juliet looked up in silent frustration. "Thank you Drake for your time. Guys, I will see you back at the palace." She walked away.
Shawn noticed Drake checking Juliet out and spoke harshly.
"So what do you do here?"
"Er...I do...things." Drake muttered.
"What type of things?" Gus asked.
"I...you couldn't really put a name on it. I do a variety of...stuff." Drake stuttered.
"Is theft of antique cornucopia history--" Shawn began.
"Cordonian." Gus corrected.
"Cordonian history rank as one of your things?" Shawn asked.
Drakes eyes narrowed. "What? Are you actually accusing me of stealing from my best friend?"
"No!" Gus said while Shawn said, "YES!" At the same time.
Drake glared at them and stormed off.
"What's his problem?" Shawn asked.
"Shawn, you just accused the man of stealing. What did you expect?"
"I don't know. Maybe point me toward the most likely suspect. Didn't he seem a little more secretive than one would normally be?" Shawn asked.
"Maybe. Why?" Gus watched Drake walk into a hidden side door.
"I think he's hiding something." Shawn motioned his head in the direction Drake disappeared. "We need to keep an eye on him."

"There has to be food somewhere in this joint." Shawn muttered.
Gus threw his arm out, stopping Shawn. He took a sniff and turned down a hallway.
"Super sniffer activated. What!" Shawn exclaimed following his friend.
"Do you smell that?" Gus asked, stopping again.
Shawn took a deep breath and let out an exaggerated moan. "It smells like heaven's bakery: one filled with cinnamon, sugar, chocolate, and our third grade teacher Ms. Ferguson wearing that sundress on field day."
Gus closed his eyes in memory. "You know that's right. Every teacher should look like her."
They stepped into the kitchen and watched a lady in a pink dress remove a tray of snickerdoodles from the oven. She brushed her long dark hair back and began to place the cookies on a cooling rack.
"I'm in love." Gus whispered.
Shawn nodded at the vision before them. He walked up to her with a look of wonder on his face. "Excuse me, but are you an angel?"
Hana looked up and giggled sweetly. "I know you! You're the private detectives Maxwell called in." She wiped her hands before holding one out. "I'm Lady Hana Lee."
"My name is Shawn Spencer and the suave gentleman stealing cookies is my partner, The Duke of Earl."
Gus quickly swallowed and gave a slow wave. "Hello."
Hana's grow furrowed. "The Duke of what?"
"Earl. But you can call me Slade." Gus replied with a seductive look.
Hana nodded and motioned toward the counter covered in sweet treats. "Please, help yourself. I tend to overdo it when I bake."
"That is impossible." Gus muttered. He took a bite of a still warm brownie and rolled his eyes in pleasure. "I'm proposing to her tonight." He whispered to Shawn.
"Tonight? I'm proposing marriage this afternoon. She can't be real." Shawn filled a plate with a variety of sweets and sat down. With a mouthful of food and a few moans of pleasure he began to question her. "Lady Hana, have you noticed anyone acting suspicious lately?"
She poured them each a glass of milk and chewed on her bottom lip. "No."
Gus slapped Shawn's hand away from his plate. "Stop playing Shawn!"
"Come on son. You grabbed the last of the macarons! The least you can do is offer one or two."
"Not my fault you took your time with the magic bars." Gus countered.
"They literally have magic in the name. They taste like what I imagine Siegfried and Roy playing with baby tigers feels like." Shawn reached over again and shook his head when slapped. "I can't believe how greedy you're being."
"I don't care." Gus replied in a high pitched voice.
Hana laughed and went over to one of the containers filled with more macarons. She offered it to Shawn and blushed when he exclaimed over her. "I don't care what you say, I can see your wings and halo."
"This is what nice people do Gus, they give." Shawn held up the cookies Hana handed him.
"Suck it Shawn."
"You suck it."
They began to talk quickly over each other and suddenly stopped. Shawn took a drink of milk and focused on Hana. "I'm sensing that you have seen someone you are close to acting odd recently."
Her lips parted in surprise. "Yes, I have. But he couldn't have taken the book! He is much too loyal to ever do something against Liam."
Shawn placed his hand to his head, closed his eyes and slapped Gus for trying to take another brownie. "I'm sensing that the one you are worried about is Drake."
Hana gasped. "Yes! Maxwell told me you were the real thing, but I couldn't believe it."
"I am merely the vessel," he slapped the back of Gus's head for trying again, "that the visions use. Now, would it be too much trouble to find something we can use to carry all of this with us?"
______________
“I don’t like this.” Gus whispered as he crept behind Shawn through the dark palace halls.
“Drake wasn’t in his room. It’s two in the morning. Where is he?” Shawn responded. “I’m telling you, he is up to no good.”
“You’re just jealous that Juliet was flirting with him instead of you.” Gus muttered.
“Please. Me? Jealous? Just because Jules basically giggled like an eighth grade girl over that ridiculously good looking man means--” He held his hand up and stopped Gus. He pointed down another hallway where he could see Drake standing in front of a door.
“What’s he doing?” Gus asked.
Shawn moved in an exaggerated manner to hide behind a suit of armor. He motioned for Gus to follow. He shook his head no. Shawn began to motion faster while Gus silently argued back. They did rock, paper, scissors three times with Gus losing. He snuck over.
Drake looked behind him before knocking in a strange pattern. After a few moments he tried the pattern again, his brow furrowing with the continued silence that followed.
Shawn went to move to another suit of armor, only to end up frozen with a sword to his throat.
“One more move and you and your little friend will be a shish kabob.”
A sultry red head moved out of the shadows and narrowed her green eyes at the pair. “What are you doing here?”
Drake turned around and glared. “It’s those psychic detectives Maxwell called in.”
Olivia kept her sword against Shawn’s throat.
“You would need at least three more.” Shawn suddenly said.
“What are you blabbering about?” Olivia demanded.
“For kabobs.” Shawn continued. “Everyone knows that you can’t just have two things. You need something to make the kebobs pop, like onions, tomatoes, something green. Most add some zucchini yet I think bell peppers add more zing--”
“SILENCE!” Olivia said over his ramblings. “Why are you following Drake?”
“Could you lower the sword?” Gus asked.
She dropped it down. “Now talk before I change my mind.”
“We are searching for the cornstarch--”
“Cordonian!” Gus corrected yet again.
“Cordonian history book.” Shawn finished.
“They think I took it.” Drake folded his muscular arms across his chest.
“Why would Drake steal the book? It is only about nobles and ancient scandals. I think one of the last entries was from 1817.” Olivia noted.
Shawn thought back as his brain flashed to that post it note with that particular year listed. He raised his hand to his temple. “I KNOW WHO STOLE THE BOOK!”
________________
Everyone gathered half asleep in Liam’s study. Shawn stood in the middle of the room. “I’m sure you all wonder why I asked you here.”
“Cut the crap Spencer.” Carlton replied. “We know you have some half cocked theory that will somehow be correct.”
Gus shrugged when Shawn turned to him.
“Really you too?” Shawn asked.
“It’s late Shawn.” Gus countered. “We flew across the country and the Atlantic ocean to get here. I haven’t slept in thirty-six hours. You know how I get without sleep.”
“Gus, don’t be that can of Coke Zero. Bring back the sweetness.” Shawn pleaded.
He turned back to the group. “This missing piece of history isn’t filled with only boring facts. No! I sense that it is filled with the dirty secrets about what goes on in the unknown, deep, dark recesses of this palace.”
“It’s actually pretty bright everywhere.” Maxwell spoke up with a yawn.
Shawn ignored that. “Even though the scandals go back thousands--”
“Hundreds.” Gus whispered.
“Hundreds of years.” Shawn repeated. “They are still ones that some will want to remain in secret.”
“Who wouldn’t want that?” Drake muttered.
“Someone wanted to erase these recorded memories. Someone who has already gone through humiliation. Someone who doesn’t want their name added to their ancestors’ naughty times. Isn’t that right...LADY MADELEINE!”
Madeleine paused yawning. Her eyes widened for a moment. “I beg your pardon!”
“I can see it all now.” Shawn stood over her. “You were already sick of seeing your name in the magazines as the jilted fiancée of the King. When Riley asked you to be her publicist, it was a slap in the face for a Countess and former Queen in training. But you took it, because your family name was on the line. You had to correct your image somehow. What better way than to appear not only fine being pushed aside, but also being magnanimous to the foreign interloper.”
Madeleine stared silently at him as he continued.
It was going well until Riley decided to present Liam with a rare and very odd wedding gift. Seriously. Naught underwear is what all men want for gifts.” Shawn turned to Riley and Liam. “Back me up on this guys.”
“It’s true.” Drake muttered.
“Drake!” Riley exclaimed.
“No, he’s right, blossom. It is all we want.” Maxwell added.
Riley blushed and turned to Liam. “Were you disappointed?”
Liam shook his head. “Of course not. I love everything you have given me.” He frowned at Shawn, Drake, and Maxwell. “Proceed Mr. Spencer.”
“If only Riley had not found it.” Shawn continued. “You didn’t realize what it had until you flipped through it. Then you saw what your ancestors did. It wasn’t just on your mother’s side in 1728 that your people got into trouble, but also on your father’s side in 1817. After a little bit of research and the help of Olivia’s memory of your father being from England, it seems the former Duke of Karlington was involved in trying to overthrow Queen Charlotte. Couldn’t have that be discovered, could you?”
Madeleine glared at Olivia. “I should have known that a descendant from traitors would make certain to point out other decent noble’s despicable relatives.”
“You took the book and decided to have those pages removed. But how to do it in a way that Liam wouldn’t notice?” Shawn interrupted before Olivia could retaliate. “You needed to have the book taken apart by a specialist and then rebounded. Simple glue apparently wouldn’t do with the old leather. That’s why if we go to your desk we will find a brochure for a book binding place called Rebound.”
Madeleine paled. She stood up and lifted her chin. “Yes, I took it. If I refuse to recognize my ancestors that betrayed their monarchs then no one else should.”
Gus and Shawn shared a fist bump as Liam had Bastien lead Madeleine away.
Once she was gone, Shawn turned his sharp eyes on Drake and Olivia. “I see what the big secret is. I wasn’t sure which John Hughes movie you were. I thought maybe a gender switched Pretty In Pink. But now that you are all together, I see you guys are The Breakfast Club.”
“What?!” Everyone exclaimed.
“Olivia is Molly Ringwald. She’s rich and fallen for the less economically sound tough guy, Judd Nelson or Drake in this instance. Liam is Emilo Estevez. Nice. Popular. Everyone likes him. I guess that means Riley is Ally Sheedy. Hmm. Hana doesn’t really have a character. We could make you the principal but that just seems mean. Maybe the little sister to Anthony Michael Hall...but you’re too sweet for that too.  Maxwell...you’re Anthony Michael Hall but way cooler.” Shawn pointed at each one. “And just like in the movie, Molly and Judd are meeting in secret to be together.”
Everyone stared at the duchess and the commoner that were both speechless at their secret being discovered.
“And my work here is done.” Shawn exclaimed, rubbing his hands together. He walked over to the door. “If you will excuse me, I’m going to catch up on that sleep everyone was mentioning earlier.”
_____________
“I am going to miss this country. After Hana refused my offer of marriage, I guess this will only be a fond memory.” Shawn said as he boarded the plane with the others.
“I’m just glad she made us going away bags.” Gus opened his and frowned. “Shawn! Where are my cookies?”
“Hmm? Seems like another mystery.” He held tight to his bag as Gus demanded he either share what he had or return what was stolen. “Man, I didn’t take your cookies.”
“You must be out of your damned mind if you think I believe that.” Gus argued. The best friends began to talk over one another, bringing up the great cupcake incident of fifth grade.
Juliet sighed as she sat down with Carlton. “It’s going to be a long flight.”
Carlton nodded. “Good thing I stole Guster’s bag of baked goods.” He offered a cookie to Juliet. She glanced at Shawn and Gus before biting into a chocolate chip cookie.

A1 and C5 for ALL OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL OCS
ahhh thank youuuuu (all of them??? holy crap,, okay let’s do this)get ready for a big dump of overly-detailed stuff
A1. What are you oc’s natural abilities, things they’ve been doing since they were young?
Owen: he’s a bit of a rule-follower, but not blindly. he’s very good at maintaining a good attitude, aside from the fact that he tends to prioritize everything else over his own wants/needs. he’s also a pretty good painter, and he plays ukulele really well since he had something similar growing up!
Mallory: she’s great at feelings (usually). she doesn’t see it, but she’s also a very good leader and negotiator. she gets better as the series goes, ofc, but even from the beginning she has a knack for understanding and empathizing with people, which helps her see both sides of most conflicts.
Trash man (O&M): this dude thinks on his feet. he’s incredibly good at talking to people, in a kinda con-man-ish way? think the way shawn spencer just gets himself into exclusive stuff by just acting like he belongs there, y’know? he’s also innately charismatic and eloquent. he knows just what to say and when to say it to get what he wants. if he used it selflessly, he could be an incredible friend.
Library kid (700below): my boy can clean! he’s a pretty organized person in general, but since he cleans/dusts for his job, he likes to put things in an order that makes sense to him.
Fluffy boy (also 700b): he’s great at staying positive. he’s always been a hopeful person, even if that skill didn’t come naturally at first.
Princess girl (700b): she’s intuitive and resourceful. she’s great at working with what she’s been given, especially under pressure.
Ethan: Ethan can sleep anywhere. it’s actually incredible how effortlessly he falls asleep in literally any environment. if he’s recovering from a stressful situation, though, this secret superpower of his gets ramped up by 300%. it doesn’t even matter what’s going on, if he’s panicking or in a lot of pain or anything, the moment the adrenaline is gone, he is out.
Maja: she’s incredibly resilient. when things change, she’s quick to adjust, and keeps herself open to whatever comes her way. she’s very spontaneous, too!
Jett: Jett’s really great at climbing, since he used to climb trees a lot with Lucy. he also has a lot of grit. he’s someone who just keeps going— keeps pushing forward— even when things are rough.
Lucy (Jett’s lil sis): she’s an excellent climber, too, which is why she wears her little clips to keep her hair out of the way.
Zeke: Zeke’s one of those people that’s just,, naturally good at weird stuff. like, he’ll fall on his face at most ordinary things, but he’s either okay or downright excellent at niche tasks like crocheting or sharpening arrowheads or rollerblading.
Citrus: she has a knack for influencing people for good. people are drawn to her bold personality and her headstrong attitude, so she always tries to make sure her decisions are the right ones.
Lisa: she’s basically the opposite of zeke. she’s fantastic at daily things, especially stuff around the house like cooking, cleaning, ironing, sewing, etc. she’s also really good at gardening!
Mateo: he can run like heck. his funky spring shoes definitely help, but even without them, he can run and jump super well.
C5. Who is the best at comforting them when they’re down?
Owen: Mallory, no question. she’s always there to listen to him, and she seems to know when he needs a little pick-me-up. he really admires that about her, too; she has a talent for soothing everyone’s worries.
Mallory: Owen! she doesn’t know how, but he just has this warmth that always helps her breathe just a little easier. he gets to know exactly how she thinks and how to help override some of those overwhelming thoughts. he can get to the reason she feels the way that she does before she even realizes it.
Trash man: so far, he really doesn’t get comfort. he’s on his own in this world, and he knows it. anything that upsets him gets either shoved under the rug or quietly unleashed in solitude. if things were different, i’d like to think Mallory would be the best at getting through to him.
Library kid: fluffy boy and princess girl are both really great at comforting him, but who he goes to depends on what he feels like he needs. fluffy boy will usually help most if he feels helpless/hopeless, but princess girl is the best at listening when he needs to let it out; she tends to understand his struggles the best.
Fluffy boy: library kid has this energy that just kinda brings his feelings to the surface and evaporates them. he’s not sure why, but he always feels like he can be the most open with him. not that he’s not open with princess, but there’s a sort of weight keeping his feelings below the surface that simply disappears when he’s around library kid. since princess has known him longer, though, she’s the best at knowing what he needs to hear, even when it’s hard to say.
Princess girl: fluffy boy’s been her friend for a while, so he’s sort of a go-to for her. the more time they spend around library kid, though, the more they realize how effortlessly he cheers them up. as far as her more deep worries, fluffy boy has heard about them and he’s good at helping her through them, but library kid kinda.. gets it. he’s pretty oblivious to the things he doesn’t tell him, but he really understands the worries she does share.
Ethan: Jett and Ethan have been friends for forever so Jett’s really good at comforting him, but for some reason, Maja has a special touch. the things she says aren’t always what he needs to hear, but when they are, they have an effect that no one else has on him. even when she’s not the best at comforting him at first, she really tries, and that makes him smile nonetheless. (also she gets a lot better at it as she gets to know him better, then it’s like she reads his heart like a book)
Maja: nobody really comforts her the way that Ethan does. when she actually tells him what’s wrong, he knows exactly what to say. even when he doesn’t really understand how she’s feeling, he seems to know that sometimes a silent moment— just a simple reassurance that he’s there— is enough to make things better.
Jett: for whatever reason, Citrus is always his go-to whenever he needs to take his mind off things. she has a way of inspiring him and helping him see things from a different perspective.
Lucy: Jett knows her like no one else. they’ve always had each other to lean on through thick and thin, so Jett knows exactly how to comfort her.
Zeke: Zeke gets his best comforting from Lisa. she’s just so down-to-earth, it just brings his heart back to the ground. she has a way of soothing his heart anytime he’s overwhelmed.
Citrus: her nickname is a great example of Jett’s comforting, actually! he knocks her out back to reality whenever she’s looking at things too fatalistically.
Lisa: the more time she spends with Zeke, the more she looks to him for inspiration and motivation. she gets easily discouraged, but Zeke’s outlook really helps her get back on her feet.
Mateo: Mateo resists coming to anyone for comfort, but Ethan always seems to just be there when he’s near his breaking point. he’s not the best at comforting Mateo, but Ethan’s his introduction to the world of supportive friends. after a while, though, Maja gets really good at lifting his spirits.

MY OTHER GARVEZ STORIES
UNDER PRESSURE
They talk, they talk, they talk, they say that I dream, but they lie, they lie...
The woman drives away the frustration while her eye burns them terribly. She throws the contact lens into the appropriate container and finally wears the old and beloved glasses again. Forced to be who she is not, for almost ten hours a day. Yes, it's true that she always had to put a good face on it, but not with them, not with her team.
No, she doesn't have to think about it. It was the initial mistake, that of wanting... everything... everything...
This is her life now. Probably it will be until she takes her last breath. She rinses her face with cold water, remove any layer of makeup. She looks in the mirror and doesn't recognize herself. Those short hair don't belong to her.
I resemble the world in many aspects and in its most evident faults...
She sits on the bed. She removes the shoes, only five centimeters high heel, black paint color. She throws them into one side of the room. She also removes the suit. Beige. It's the only nuance that is not good for her, it is unshakable, it has no personality. She is depriving her of her way of being, as if it were the wedding garment that Medea has given to her Jason's bride, to take revenge. Or the robe worn by Heracles, soaked with the ointment that the centaur Nessus gave to Deianira, succeeding in this way to kill one of the greatest demigods of ancient mythology... ok, she reads too much, in the evening. She has too much free time available.
I made too many things wrong, roads, I entered a few churches so rarely, tomorrow I will leave even if you don't want to...
She also removes the bra, while she laughs alone. Her laughter spreads across the room, bounces off the walls and comes back. The emptiness surrounds her and soon, will be able to incorporate her, make her disappear. She will become one of the many who work without passion, without knowing why she do it. She will repeat the same gestures indefinitely, until she becomes not even more aware. Soon there will not be much difference between her and whatever piece of furniture in her office.
Your life will not pass, it will not pass, it will not pass, I will not give up your life at every failure ...
She wears a pink nightgown, decorated with various images of unicorns. She closes her eyes and tries to feel that scent, something, anything that she remembers who it is. But she doesn't hear anything.
The vibration of the cell phone on the bedside table makes her jump. She grabs it by praying that there is no case. Once (and yet it has been two months since that day, it seems 2 or 20 years) she would have been happy to have to run to work. Because here she would find...
She reads the name in the sender. Cool Hand Luke.
Another giggle escapes from her, then she wonders why he texts her. Will he have a wrong number? Something will not happen to JJ or Matt or... She opens it holding her breath. I entrust your life to the wind, which changes the terms and derails them, takes people and dazzles them because often the world makes mistakes...
Hey, Garcia, how are you? I hope I'm not bothering you. I wanted to ask you if you want to get some tea. I should talk to you about something. She smiles, her lips bent gently upwards. Only he could be so careful to detail. Not a coffee, but a tea. Damn Newbie. She sighs and stares the screen until it turns off.
Hey, obviously she omits answering his first question, ok, is it something serious? When would you like to go? She deletes the last sentence. In this way it seems like a date, while it's simply about... it's definitely about work. She sees no other reason why he should contact her. Damn, they have not seen each other for two months. Two months. No one in the new workplace has ever looked at her like him, in this time frame. No one called her chica, nor even flirted just for fun with her. Nobody ever told her she did a great job. She deletes the entire message.
Has something bad happened? Don't make me worry, Alvez. She presses send before changing her mind again. As if she were on a precipice waiting for the right moment to throw herself. What a bad image.
No, not really. Are you free, then? Tomorrow night? The man' response arrives very quickly. As if he were in front of the screen, as if he were waiting... she is going too many mental journeys. This haven't stopped, at least some things don't change.
Yes, if I don't have a case. Same goes for you, I guess. I'll let you know at the time. This time at least one-minute passes before the screen lights up again.
Ok. From O'Keef at eight? Reading that name destabilizes her much more than everything else. It's a happy place, full of good memories, carefree evenings...
No, please, let's choose another place. Any one, but not that. I'm not ready. Now, that she doesn't see him every day, it's useless to keep showing herself cold and indifferent, not allowing him to glimpse not even a small part of her weakness.
Of course, Penelope, there is no problem. I know a nice place, very colorful and noisy. I'll send you the address tomorrow. Good night. He manages to snatch almost a moan from her. How the heck does he is so sweet and so smart to guess always? Why can he understand that what she needed was noise, confusion, something that didn't make her feel the weight of the loneliness she brought with her from that blessed day?
Thank you. Night.
They talk, they talk, they talk, and they say that I dream, however, they lie, they lie...
The man opens the door of his apartment and enters. The sheepdog runs towards him, showing him how much she missed him. -Hello, girl, I know, I missed you too.- he kneels, crouching to sink the face in the thick fur of the animal and inhales her scent strongly. This gesture has always calmed him, ever since he came back from Iraq and he never stopped doing it, every time he found himself in crisis, he risked to relapse... for example after seeing Penelope in tears for Reid and having had two small talk with Shawn. Or after seeing Scratch falling without doing anything. And surely when he found out that a bastard had shot Garcia during a date. And from that day, when Linda Barnes had decided to destroy everything... well, it had become increasingly necessary.
I'll go back, when I want, because you know, who doesn't have a life... dreams...
The jet landed at six in Quantico. He has all the time in the world to get ready. She has already assured him that the coast is clear, nothing fish to fry. She tried to show the usual Garcia, but she didn't succeed very well. He understood that there is something different, that she is forced, yes, even by the way she wrote those texts. Not that before (as it sounds, even in his head, this adverb of time, as if it were about centuries ago) had exchanged who knows how many messages. But those few times she didn't miss an opportunity to prick him, just a little. To provoke him. And he certainly didn't pull back. Yesterday evening, instead...
Yesterday she has sounded shut off. She even showed herself to be weak, telling him she didn't want to go to O'Keef. It was obvious that she would not like it, he had to guess it. What a fool!
I mistook day and night by dreaming and I can't sleep ...
He pulls himself up and prepares Roxy's dinner quickly. Another gesture that calms him, because so habitual, so reassuring in its repeating smoothly. Here it can't happen that a Linda (Spencer was right, Linda was a problem) suddenly arrives and destroys everything in her path. Two years of hard work wiped away in a second, to be able to integrate himself, to trust others...
He goes to the bathroom and gets naked, getting rid of anxiety alongside sweaty clothes. First, he removes the boots, putting them on the side, then the shirt, the red one amaranth, the dark trousers, the underwear and the white socks. He opens the water and slips under the jet of hot water, the steam rises, enveloping his body. He grabs the shampoo bottle and puts some liquid in one hand, rubs his hair, long as when he had known her, he closes his eyes and tries not to tremble at the thought that, in less than an hour, he'll see her again.
Two months, sixty days without a misplaced joke, a zinger, eyes turned to the sky, unbecoming nicknames... even if the last time she had called him cool guy. Yeah, he had made progress. Finally, she realized that he wasn't the playboy she wanted so much... and Barnes had to intrude herself by sending everything to hell. Thank you very much. But perhaps something positive could sprout from this mess.
While passing the sponge on the back and chest he remembers the dialogue with JJ. She had told him that she hadn't talk to Penelope for a century. She was practically gone. The same was true of Tara and Emily; the girls had tried to invite her to one of their women' nights, but nothing, she hadn't even answered, if not the next day with I’m sorry, I was overworked. Overworked. Not a term she would use. Obsolete and weird, yes, but not in the sense in which she usually expressed herself. Not even Reid, who found the experience of teaching rather formative (more humanly than unprofessionally), or Rossi, engaged in the drafting of a novel where the supreme head of a team, a bureaucrat without the slightest training on the field, she went to a lot of trouble... but even Matt was no longer able to contact her.
He had been thinking about it for a while. All this mysterious situation had made him definitively worry. They were in the same damn building and they had never even crossed their streets. Not in the parking lot, not in the elevator, nothing. He knew in which unit she had been transferred. He had heard about it. And just he couldn't imagine her among those people, each interested exclusively in their careers, to add a plaque on the desk.
That's why he was surprised, yesterday, when she answered him. Why he and not the others? Maybe he just caught her at the right time, for once. He decided he wanted to believe this.
It's made of prohibitions and all of our things, life is always beautiful because life doesn't rest...
All the foam flows in to the drain. He closes the tap and goes out, grabs a towel and puts it around his waist. He threads a pair of terry slippers, walking towards the bedroom. He opens the wardrobe and pulls out a shirt. Blue. This time he doesn't need to ask for a second opinion, that of Roxy, of course. He knows (without knowing why) that this is the right choice. When he thinks he is dry enough, he puts on a tight white shirt. It's not too hot outside. But not even inside (inside him). Another pair of trousers, not jeans, without front pockets, clear, which stand out the muscles of his calves. And casual shoes but not completely elegant.
Back in the bathroom, he looks in the mirror. He passes a hand through his hair, already dry. He combs them quickly, glances at the clock nearby. He has still just five minutes. He puts on his wrist the bracelet that Phil gave him. Spray deodorant and even a scent, but delicate and almost imperceptible.
He grabs the jacket, then changes his mind to the last and opt for the denim jacket. Better.
He sighs, takes wallet, house keys, car keys and cell phone. The bare minimum.
I'm leaving home now. Are you already there? He is afraid of receiving in reply that she will not be there, that in the end some unforeseen will prevent her from reaching him, that he has only deluded himself... instead, quite the contrary.
No, but I'm almost there. It's not even from her, to be on time. There is definitely something wrong. He turns to Roxy. -Hey, girl, now I have to go. But if all goes well, I will not go back alone.- the dog almost seems to nod. -I bring Penelope back home, I promise.-
He enters in the bar and looks around. He immediately meets the gaze of a blonde woman, as confused as he is. He approaches frowning. -Garcia?- now it is certain, it is her. The hair is short, very short, smooth, cut into an almost military bowl haircut that leaves uncovered a good part of her neck. She wears a strange, dark suit that makes her look like a lawyer. The make-up is light, no eyeliner, not even lipstick. And no colorful glasses; probably she wears contact lenses. He had never noticed before how big her eyes were.
-Luke.- she doesn't move, doesn't stand up to greet him, she just looks at him. It is however strange and significant that she decided to call him by name. He takes off his jacket, leans it on the chair and positions himself in front of her. -I'm sorry for the clothes, but I just got out of work. A colleague of mine left early and I also had to finish his part. I didn't have time to change. I hope you don't mind.- the really Garcia, two months ago, would have known how to make some good joke from a situation like that. The woman who is before him now, however, limited to expose her justification with a flat and aseptic tone. She, who cared so much to every detail, who personally chose every accessory to wear combined with the clothes...
-No, it's just that... You're... you're so... weird.- the truth escapes from him, he just can't hold it. His upheaval certainly doesn't go unnoticed. The woman finds herself giggling and shaking her head, as if he had made a joke.
-I'm with you from a second, and I already seem to be back home.- here, this looks even more like the original Garcia. But still, her eyes are definitely less bright and lively, less mischievous. -So... what did you want to talk to me, cool guy?- she had say it again. She used that nickname. Penelope bites her tongue, cursing herself. But the impact wasn't strong just for him. Luke is beautiful, as always. But there's something strange about him too. He didn't shave perfectly, he cut his own cheek, if she'll put her finger on his skin, she could follow all the way...
-Nothing, it's just that... you're disappeared.- he decides to go slowly, to not did further pressure to her. After all, she is the one who was thrown in the middle of the sharks without life preservers. She is alone, but she has to continue to do what she did before, without being herself. -We work in the same building but never see each other.- he is aware of what may seem, what truly is, but he doesn't want her to know and he's hurry to continue -I mean, also with JJ and Matt.- he can't prevent his cheeks from turning red. -It's not strange? I know that you don't even be in touch with others.- at the end he says everything, without filters. It seems as if he is blaming her, that he is accusing her of something. At least it is in this sense that she perceives it.
-Well, I've been very busy.- she justifies herself by crossing her arms over her chest. It is certainly the first time that not even a small part of her breast is exposed to sight. He gives himself to the maniac, but that thought doesn't leave him free anyway. The woman notices the insistence of his gaze, but the war is temporarily interrupted by a very attractive waitress who takes their orders. Luke ignores her almost completely.
-Do you like what you do? How are you?- he asks as soon as they are alone again. He was right, the place is very welcoming, there is a strange atmosphere, as if time were suspended; the tables are all wooden, the walls covered with posters that date back to the late 1980s, a persistent music fills every empty space. And then there is the cheerful voice of other people. As he speaks, he approaches her a little.
For a while, she seems not to have heard the two questions. -Oh, Newbie, I missed your interrogation!- she is happy that he didn't ask her why she clearly avoided talking to others. And once again she wonders why she has answered him affirmatively, why she is here. Should not. This goes against the pact that she was forced to sign. She lets the nickname slip on her tongue as if she couldn't avoid it in any way. She smiles almost maliciously. -Anyway... it's not that bad. It's not the first time that I collaborate with a different team.- she adds in a professional tone, not without some uncertainty that leads man to understand that she is lying, or at least omitting part of the truth.
-I missed being called in this way.- he says this purposefully. In another situation, if they were in their offices, miles away, one in a country and one in another, this could also seem like a joke, a flirtation to ease the accumulated tension in trying to save as many human lives as possible.
But she deliberately decides to ignore these implications. -What do you really want, Alvez?- the waitress returns and settles their drinks on the table. -You can't have called me just for a chat.- she decrees, raising an eyebrow. -Do you feel lonely? Lisa is not enough for you?- here, he seems to feel a tiny pinch of jealousy. Luke chuckles, because he doesn't see Dr. Douglas from that date when they have play at the foosball table a century ago. Yet, she didn't seem particularly worried when she broke their first date. Of course, she had begun to deliriously as usual... but this is not all that significant.
He sighs and leans a hand towards the mug of beer. Look at the yellow liquid, similar to the color of the hair of his ex-colleague. -It didn't work. But basically, it's better this way.- the pure truth, nothing more and nothing less. The tone of man is not displeased, it shows no shade of sadness, although this implies exactly what Garcia has asked him, only to provoke him: solitude.
-Oh, I'm sorry.- she's honest too, and he believes her easily. The lips, so clear in their natural color, bend slightly downwards and a wrinkle appears on her forehead. But he can't stop staring at those brown eyes. Yes, they are definitely big, huge. -How is Phil?- apparently the interrogation has turned over. Now she is the one who asks the questions. -And Roxy?- hearing the name of his dog he can't help but smile gently.
-Phil is fine, he's making some progress...- he says before taking a sip of his beer. Bitter. But perhaps it is he who perceives everything in that perspective, since the hag had cast her spell. -And Roxy...- he hesitates a moment, but then he remembers the promise made to his girl. -...why don't you come see her? I'm sure she'd like it...- using his dog has always been the best way to get positive attention from the blonde. A bit 'sneaky and even incorrect, but he cares little.
Garcia takes an eternity before opening her mouth again. He watches her drink her drink, turning the little colored umbrella, pulls it out to use it as a toothpick and sticks the lemon slice, then she brings it to the mouth and suck the liquid, without producing any vulgar or annoying noise. He remains as enchanted by these simple gestures. -No.- she finally says. -I don't think it's the case.- her lips are wet from a few drops of lemon.
Who knows what flavor they have, if they would have had a bitter taste too. -Is that all you had to tell me?- he is silent. She finishes drinking and puts the empty glass on the table. -Then, I have to go.- she stands up and turns to take the jacket. At that moment Luke notices two things at the same time: first the shoes, black and without heel, well, only a few centimeters, practically slippers for the computer technician's standards; and then he notices how much she looks smaller, in those clothes so unusual for her, she also lost weight. Stress, definitely.
In a second, he is standing next to her and his fingers wrapped like coils, like handcuffs, albeit gently, around the woman's wrist. -Hey, wait.- Garcia looks at him but without protesting. -The unit needs you, Penelope.- this is only the easy half of the matter. -I, I need you.- he finally exclaims, emphasizing the personal pronoun. She almost abandons herself on the chair. He too returns to settle in front of her. The mug is still half full. He feels like freed from a burden. BAU needed Penelope Garcia because no one had her abilities, her speed in identifying the right information. About this no one would have nothing to say.
-You?- her huge brown eyes, doe eyes (he must have read this in some novel, such kind of expression, but he had never happened to apply it in the real world) are opened, exactly as when this wild animal at night is on a dangerous road and the headlights of a car illuminate it before the possible impact. -Why?- Penelope falters, her head spinning and the whole room becomes blurred. Damn contact lenses, she hates them. If at least she was able to remove...
Luke decides that by now he did the first important step, he can't hide his hand after throwing the stone. So, he reaches out and grabs her hand, without even looking. His body automatically moves in the right direction, almost guided by a superior force. -This job is empty, without your jokes that have nothing to do with the case.- well, it was just this. Newbie lacked someone to joke with, someone who could smile despite everything, nothing more. This, she was for him: a fool who made a clown.
Penelope feels anger increasing and clenching her throat, tears sting her eyes and wet her eyelashes. She can't cry, not only because Luke is in front of her, but mostly because the damned lenses get dirty, if she does. -BAU also need Reid's intelligence, Rossi's experience, Emily's loyalty, Tara's insights. Not just my jokes.- she growls, listing the other members of the team. It's immediately obvious to the man that she misinterpreted his sentence. She felt diminished, while his goal is to make her understand how important she is, but not just for the team.
Luke shakes his head, annoyed. -It's not just that, you know what I meant...- he looks at her directly in the way he has always looked at her, his hand still on hers, even the partially intertwined fingers, although she tried to get rid of it, but he is too strong, or the woman's attempts have been weak. -However, you're right.- he doesn't made any effort to admit it. Garcia doesn't smile in a victorious gesture. -But I, I only need you.- again that underlining. -Before, I was a loner, I thought it was better this way, it was simpler, nobody worried about me, but now I love this group, we are a family, I love everyone, but I love you a little bit more.- he's never let himself go with her so much on such a subject. She had sensed something when she had met Phil. From behind the column she had heard him explain to his friend how hard it was to start a normal life again, after returning from Iraq and how much Roxy had helped him. Because he needed a reason for wanting to live. Before this, she had never really thought, that Luke could have such pains within himself. Her ingenuity and her security system prevented her from getting there. She couldn't really imagine him, in a context like war. She had wondered what kind of thoughts could ever crossing his head in such a period. And how much lonely he was felt. And now he is clearly saying it, he is writing black and white that, apart from Lisa's parenthesis, he has neither wanted no one for a long time. And that now he is ready to have it. And he wants her.
The clarity of this thought strikes her like an invisible fist in her stomach, stealing the air from her. She nods and grabs the man's glass, taking a sip, before Luke's uncertain gaze. She's not a beer-type, but she needed to swallow that lump in her throat. -Why are you telling me these things? Why exactly now?- one question after another, to silence the thousand voices in her head. Her voice sounds like that of a child. Finally, she manages to free her hand and carried it on her ribs, as in the period shortly after she had been shot. -The team is gone, Luke. It's over.- she almost hears a crack as she says it.
Your life will not pass, it will not pass, it will not pass... your life will be stronger, of what they sometimes told you... -No, look at me, Penelope, please.- when she executes that simple request she realizes that even the Luke's eyes are shiny. The last time she saw him like that, it was at Walker's funeral. -Do you remember what I told you when Reid was in trouble?- he asks in a caressing, delicate, low, and extremely deep voice. And sexy. Damn it, how can he be so exciting in such a dramatic moment? Such an intense gaze like his should be forbidden. -that we will get Reid through this, we will have managed it, and so it has been.- he answers by himself, then he observes the mug and end its contents in a single sip. He stands up, wears his jacket and is imitated by a completely distraught Penelope. When she's ok he takes her by the arm and heads for the bar to pay.
Only when they are out in the cool evening air, she seems able to talk again. -It was different, he was innocent, while we...- she silences, shakes her head and looks around, as if she were looking for someone or something. An escape route.
-What is it that you don't want to say?- Garcia doesn't answer. -There's something you didn't tell me, I see it.- he reads in her big eyes how much she hates the fact that he's a profiler. But work has nothing to do with it.
Finally, like a dormant volcano that has managed to convince everyone that it's non-dangerous, she suddenly erupts. -Ok, all right!- she shouts loudly. -If you really want to know... Barnes made me promise to close relations with all of you. Well, it's not that she really made me promise, let's say she has "warmly" recommended me...- for a moment she loses herself in trifling matters, like her usual did, before that day. -If I hadn't, she would have sent me to prison. And she would have forced all of you to leave...- she didn't want that he discover this part, but she didn't make it. She can't keep secrets or things of this kind only for herself. They also made fun of her for this. But she doesn't want to be a martyr. She absolutely doesn't want his compassion and even worse his pity.
-In prison?- finally he is the one seriously upset. She enjoys the triumph in silence. -What?- man can't conceive of such a possibility. Or the reasons why a person like Penelope can end up behind bars. For excess of sweetness? Behavior too uninhibited? Illegal distribution of tea? And then, late, the other consideration also hits him. She sacrificed herself for them. She couldn't talk to them, with any one of her old team, she was forced into exile. And this is not absolutely right.
Penelope emits a bitter laugh. -I'm a hacker, Luke.- she decides to be magnanimous and not wait that him arrives on his own to the right conclusion. He could very well do it, she knows how clever and perceptive he is, more than she wanted to admit. But for certain things, he seems almost as naive as she is. All the pieces find their place in the man head. -How do you believe I know certain tricks? Why do you think I ended up working for the BAU?- this was really a too loud bomb and she shot him straight in the face. Despite the jacket, the woman getting cold. She shudders only a little.
-Penelope, you can't carry this weight alone.- a third question enlightens his mind. Why had she decided to break that sort of contract and see him, why him, the one who had known her for less time, and not the others? A slight flame is re-ignited. But she is quick to turn it off.
-Never mind.- she shrugs like if it were nothing. She has always done so, grin and bear it. When Reid was arrested she and JJ carred about his mother's, she worried that she always had a hot meal, to cite just one example. - Now I have to go.- again that phrase, which breaks into his thoughts.
-No.- he stops her only with that monosyllable, without needing to grasp her physically or add more. -Are you dating anyone?- now that this threshold has passed, he can afford to be jealous of the idea that she, in these two months, has found someone else. And maybe right at work. Perhaps one who didn't limit himself to sraring her as if she was a miracle on this earth, but has found the courage to ask her a date, without fear of ending up incinerated like Anchise with Aphrodite.
-This argument has never been your business.- she defends herself as she can, but she no longer has any strength. She's about to give in, it's obvious now. Luke approaches her a step. She hears the slight rustling of his shoes, it's still early but few cars pass by the street. She has her eyes closed. She can't cry.
-Unfortunately you're right, could you answer however?- she feels his breath create like a cloud of steam that comes directly into her face. The heat is too much, the last straw. When she tries to lift her eyelids, she realizes that he is much closer than she believed. She never got the chance to observe his dark eyes at such a distance. She takes advantage of it to capture a thousand details, nuances. She is so close to that scratch on his cheek... just a caress, just one...
-No, I'm not dating anyone.- she responds without being able to look away from the male. She's like hypnotized, in a trance. -My life is work, Luke. It will always be like that.- she explains. But the words don't agree with the subdued tone. She sees the great hands of him rise and reach her cheeks and she knows in advance what he is about to do. She literally abandons herself, allowing him to grasp her lips with his own, to slightly bite the lower one, to the point of shaking her along the spine, to make her mouth open to intrude his tongue in and start a wild fight with hers.
Yet she is conscious of every action of her own, she doesn't lose the sense of reality. She feels her own arms moving, a hand resting on the man's back, on his shoulder blade and bringing him closer to her, as if she needs more heat. The other instead ends right on the cheek of the man, she feels the roughness of the shaved beard hairs and she identify the scratch, following the path.
When he detaches her lips from the female ones, exclusively for lack of oxygen, he still can't stay too far from her. He lays his forehead against hers. Since Garcia doesn't wear her usual stilts, the difference in height between them is even more noticeable. -If I managed to do this, all together we can save the team, don't you think?- he tries a joke, but he is extremely serious.
-Starting a clandestine relationship that goes against the regulation, is not v the best of the ideas you've had, Newbie.- and she seems to understand it, because she responds in the same way. As if Luke's lips had been able to restore her true essence, what she was beginning to forget. He wiped out all the beige with a single gesture.
-That means that you liked the others?- that grimace, that crooked smile, all leaning to the left, the white teeth partially visible. How much did she miss it, without realizing it? She also had the courage to wonder why he and not the others.
-You always twist my words against me!- but it's a protest for play, to see how far he can get, to pretend that the BAU is still together, that she shouldn't return in the cold, cold and impersonal apartment that they had gave to her. Where cats aren't allowed. It was the last time she saw Emily, when she gave Sergio gave back to her. Heck, how much she misses everyone.
-That's why you like me so much, don't you?- he satisfies her, answering her jokingly and as their noses touch, before a second kiss, Penelope realizes that even if they were to get married, this thing will not change between them. They will continue to prick each other even when he has to help himself with the stick and she will be almost completely blind and maybe even deaf as a post.
It was absolutely not a rational thought. They aren't even together, and she already imagines their eternity? The man realizes that one of the moans is too much like a sob. -Luke...- she is crying. Her whole body is shaken by unstoppable sobs.
Luke puts a hand on the woman's back and pushes her against his chest. She puts her head in but doesn't stop sobbing. -Sorry, I didn't want to make you cry, I'm so stupid.- he believes it's his fault. She enjoys those caresses on the hair, behind the ear (how the hell does he know it's one of her sensitive spots?) and on her back.
-It's not for you, it's ... this whole situation.- finally she manages to calm down enough to formulate some coherent and meaningful sentence. -I kept the pain inside for these two months, I didn't allow myself to cry even a tear, because then I would have admitted that it was really over. I missed all of you, so much, yes, you too.- they laugh together. A few drops also fall down from man's face, until the scratch, then on the neck, left naked by those too short hair.
Even when they shout to you, run, bastard, run, your life stays in here, I defend it, I defend it...
-You missed me too, Penelope. I can't imagine you in another team, all alone. Dressed like that... I guess they don't even allow you to make your own jokes.- she doesn't detach herself from that embrace that they both pursued at least from the trial for the detention of Reid, certainly since he had found her in tears in her office. She wraps her arms around Luke's mighty back.
-The paragon of professionalism.- words that seem to come from another timing. -Luke, you have no idea. She forced me to wear civilian clothes because... because I also have to take care of the support of the victims' relatives. I can't do everything, I can't do it.- he's about to open his mouth but she raises her head in his direction making him understand that she hasn't finished yet. -She also forced me to put these damned contact lenses, which my eyes deeply dislike. And... I live in a tiny apartment, in a complex, very close to the office, because at least in that way I can't be late.- another sob, though no more salty drops growing in her eyes. She sinks her face into Luke's jacket and inhales his scent. -I had to give up Sergio.- a phrase that corresponds to a long groan.
-Oh, baby, we'll get through this.- he takes her face in his hands and she gets up on the tips to reach his lips in a kiss less passionate than the first two, but decidedly more intense and full of responsibility. Both linger one suspended on the other's mouth. -You will not have to endure this situation for a long time. Do you believe me? - the mind rationally should suggest her to respond negatively.
Instead for the first time it agrees with the heart. -Yes.- he smiles, still holding her in his arms. They need both external and internal heat.
-What would you like to do now? Do you prefer to see others or...- there has never been a quicker and simpler answer to give. Of course, as they both said, it's not just him who needs her back in the BAU, but the whole team, who they consider as a family. This is absolutely true. But then there are only them and they can't see beyond their noses.
- Well, you don’t told me that Roxy misses me...?-

Psych 2: Lassie Come Home Review
https://ift.tt/3iLcMjF
Psych: The Movie, when it was released in 2017, was clearly a love letter for the avid Psych-Os missing fake psychic Shawn Spencer (James Roday), his platonic life partner Burton Guster (Dulé Hill), and the rest of the Santa Barbara Police Department after the series wrapped in 2014. From a David Bowie-loving villain to a #TeamGrimmie T-shirt, it was the best kind of fan service. Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, then, is undoubtedly a love letter from the cast and crew of Psych to one of their own: actor Timothy Omundson and his grouchy yet heroic alter ego, detective Carlton Lassiter, both undergoing recovery for a stroke. Psych 2, which premieres July 15 on Peacock, is a surprisingly poignant example of art imitating life while still ushering a crew of beloved characters through personal and professional life changes.
Because of the timing of Omundson’s stroke prior to shooting the first movie, Roday and series creator Steve Franks quickly rewrote that script to build in reasons for Lassiter’s absence: transplanting the mystery from Santa Barbara to San Francisco, and bringing in Lassiter for a late-stage pep talk for his former partner Juliet O’Hara (Maggie Lawson). The scene was staged in such a way as to not necessarily acknowledge that anything had changed in the character’s life. But three years later, with Omundson still relearning how to walk, the writers (Franks, Roday, and Andy Berman) leaned in to the actor’s real-life situation and constructed an entire Hitchcockian whodunnit around his recovery:
Someone shot Lassie! Recuperating in Santa Barbara, the usually sharp detective, his senses dulled by pain and meds, nonetheless notices a series of strange happenings in and around his recovery clinic: catatonic patients walking the halls, bleeding strangers lurking on the grounds at night… possibly even ghosts. With potentially supernatural happenings afoot, clearly this is a case for a fake psychic and his many-nicknamed-associate. And when it comes to Lassie, Shawn and Gus are more than happy to return to their old stomping grounds, slurp some Jamba Juice, and unravel this eerie case.
But here’s the rub: What if it’s all in Lassie’s head?
In addition to meeting Omundson where he’s at, the Hitchcockian plot smartly turns the series’ original premise on its ear: Instead of Shawn being the one that people struggle between debunking and believing—no one moreso than Lassiter—now it’s Lassie as the unreliable narrator. While Shawn’s lies ballooned to so precarious a point that he could lose all credibility if punctured, Lassiter arguably has more to lose should his peers decide that he’s “crazy”: Not only could be he forcibly retired from his job, but he’d lose the respect of the police department and (he believes) wife Marlowe (Kristy Swanson) and their daughter Lily.
You can hear the genuine warmth and affection that everyone involved has for Omundson. In the scene when Juliet tells Lassiter, “You are the strongest person I know, and I am watching you get stronger every single day, and I love you, and I don’t know what I would do without you,” it’s also clearly Maggie Lawson talking to Omundson, and probably even also the series engaging its fans, especially now.
These highly emotional stakes ground a mystery that often veers into the ludicrous, even for Psych. There are hospital hijinks involving dismembered hands and foot tickling; another bonkers Mary Lightly (Jimmi Simpson) hallucination that outdoes its Psych: The Movie predecessor; a shootout at a Viking-themed ice bar; and exhaustive travel back-and-forth between Santa Barbara and San Francisco. At the hospital, Richard Schiff plays a suspiciously uptight doctor, while Sarah Chalke is a beam of sunshine as basically a more put-together version of Elliot from Scrubs, with a smile for Lassiter and an eye for Gus.
The one major downside of the Psych movies is that they lack the tight structure of a 42-minute TV case. There’s still all the same crime-solving plot beats, but you trade that briskness for a bevy of witty references, as if the characters and the stars would rather spend ninety minutes catching up on the last three years of pop culture. To be fair, they are great; where else would you see The Force Awakens and This Is Us get equal play? (And they’re both stories where fathers come to tragic ends! It all fits.) But the joke-spackling can’t entirely disguise the holes in the narrative.
Shawn and Gus’ penchant for puerile humor also grates a bit in this installment, especially when one of the movie’s central themes is manning up and getting more serious. The aforementioned foot-tickling scene felt out of place even for these two. When it’s just the two of them being handsy and inappropriate, it’s comedy gold; when they bring in a play partner, it just gets uncomfortable.

Psych 2: Lassie Come Home Stars on Hitchcock Homages and Special Reunions
By Natalie Zutter
But it’s not all rehashing old bits, as Shawn muses to Gus in an especially meta moment; Psych 2 also offers small but pivotal moments of growth for the major characters. One of the movie’s biggest treats is watching Jules be the one to sneak around Shawn’s back investigating the identity of Lassiter’s shooter, instead of their usual status quo in which she’s the straight man to his risk-taker. Even more fun is that she gets a temporary partner in Gus’ girlfriend Selene (Jazmyn Simon), who initially races down to SoCal to investigate Gus’ potential love interest but winds up joining the hunt for a missing bullet and a shadowy motive.
Even the supporting cast who get only a few scenes are standouts, from Chief Karen Vick (Kirsten Nelson) staring down a life-changing job interview to Woody (Kurt Fuller) in a disguise that’s just this side of offensive to Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) continuing his absurd Boomer hipster ways while also managing to have an actually heartfelt conversation with Shawn about fatherhood.
Absent fathers loom over Lassie Come Home, from Shawn in a sitcom-y plot involving a pregnancy test to Carlton’s meds-induced hallucinations of the Lassiter family patriarch (Joel McHale), a ghostly manifestation of the detective’s self-censure about manliness and what recovery looks like. Psych 2 never sugarcoats Lassiter’s recovery, adeptly balancing hope and pessimism, hero worship and regret.
The mystery resolves in an uneven fashion, with a few too many red herrings and new characters and settings that you could tell it was fun to set up, if nothing else. But let’s be real, we weren’t here for the who or why of Lassiter getting shot; the movie’s heart is in what he does next. That resolution is handled so thoughtfully, in a simple moment that resonates for both Lassiter and Omundson, and every (not-a-dry) eye watching.
Psych had already proven with its first movie that it could grow and change with its fanbase, but this latest installment commits to putting each character on a new path, even if it’s just taking one step. Here’s hoping we’ll get to keep revisiting Shawn and Gus à la the BBC’s Sherlock and Watson every few years—for a new mystery, sure, but really just because everyone feels like family.
Psych 2: Lassie Come Home premieres July 15 on Peacock.

As Long as You'd Love Me So
Day 3 lets go!! This is prob my favorite one that I've written thus far because who doesn't love married shules? Absolutely inspired by @tinseltrixie ‘s fic "On the Run". Go give it a read, it's very good! Summary: Juliet Spencer-O’Hara is feeling exactly two emotions- cold and unbridled anger. Both of them are because of Ewan. But thankfully Shawn is always there to put a smile on her face. Prompt: Cold/Snow ___
Juliet Spencer-O’Hara is feeling exactly two emotions- cold and unbridled anger. The first one was due to the fact she was a Florida turned California girl in the middle of Norway during wintertime. The second one was because it was her stupid brother- the same brother who had almost murdered someone and then disappeared for six years- who had interrupted her honeymoon plans to drag them out here.
Every single part of her just wants to grab Shawn and lock them both in their hotel room, refusing to come out until they properly celebrate their marriage. But if she does, Ewan would find some way to use Gus and Selene for his plans instead of her. And while she doesn’t know Selene too well, their newest group member is still a civilian and if anything happened to Gus, she’d never be able to forgive herself.
So she stays with the group, even when the wind whips at them, cold biting at her skin and pulling wisps of hair from her braid. They’re wandering around a very quiet, very snowy park and she wishes Ewan would just tell them the plan before throwing them into potentially dangerous situations. Though their unwelcome circumstances don’t stop her from linking her hand with Shawn’s, thumb rubbing against his ring finger. Their hands are gloveless and his finger is bare- they haven’t gotten him a ring yet, were saving it for a fun honeymoon activity but running from nameless men who want to kill you kind of puts a damper on those plans.
Kind of.
She slips her other hand into her coat pocket and smiles as it brushes against cool, round metal. She’d picked up the ring at a Norwegian jewelry store when shopping for food. It’s not much, just a silver band but by jove, this honeymoon isn’t going to be a total disaster.
Ewan gestures for them to follow him and she rolls her eyes. She’s never liked being bossed around by her older brother, especially now. He seems to pick up on her resistance because his shoulders drop and he gives her an exasperated look.
“Fine. We can stop for a short break.” He gestures around them. “Don’t wander off too far, you don’t know who you can trust out here.”
“Like you.” She grumbles under her breath. If Ewan hears, he doesn’t say anything.
Tugging on Shawn’s hand she leads him to a snowy overlook, a massive forest sprawling out below. It’s a bit further from the group than Ewan would like them to be but spiting him is one of the few things that makes her happy as of late. The other thing is right next to her.
“So…” Shawn drags out the word as he rounds to stand in front of her, taking her other hand in his. “I’m sorry our honeymoon sucks. Are you okay?”
She gives a little shrug, not meeting his eyes. “Yeah… well as okay as someone who’s long lost betraying brother comes in and ruins her time with her new husband can be.”
He breathes sharply out his nose and her eyes dart to his face, an eyebrow automatically raising. “You’re super cute when you’re irritated.”
A smile breaks across her face as she revels in the fact that he can make her annoyance fade away just like that. “Please, I’m always super cute.”
“Yeah you are,” He smirks, hands beginning to run up and down her arms.
And then it hits her. Just how incredibly in love with this man she is. His charming smile, his compassion, his jokes, his amazing mind. She loves each and every part of him, even the less than great ones.
The ring weighs heavily in her pocket. She had wanted to give it to him when they were alone in their hotel room but the scenery looks like something out of a movie and he’s just so adorable with his fuzzy earmuffs and too light coat and Ewan be darned, they might as well make some memories while they’re here.
So she drops her hands and gets down on one knee. The snow soaks into her pants and she slips a little but Shawn’s eyes have gone wide and she knows she has to do this. Slipping her hand into her pocket, she pulls out the ring, holding it between her thumb and two fingers.
“Jules…” He breathes and her heart skips a beat.
“Shawn.” She starts and hates how her voice wavers a little. She’s never been good with expressing how she feels, preferring to show through actions rather than words. “I love you. A whole lot. I don’t tell you that nearly enough so let me start out with that. I still can hardly believe that I get to be married to you.” Joy bubbles in her chest and she smiles. “Sometimes I wake up and I just watch you sleep all while thinking ‘this is my husband’ and as dorky- and... slightly creepy- as that sounds, it’s the truth.” He laughs and she finds herself joining him.
“Jules-” He says again, laughter still in his voice but she shakes her head.
“Please let me get through this first.” He nods and she takes a deep breath. “I know this honeymoon isn’t what we planned but let's be honest, when have we ever done anything conventionally before?”
“True.”
“I don’t need a romantic honeymoon to be happy. And while spas and warm weather and a significant lack of fearing for our lives would be really, really-” She raises her eyebrows. “Really nice, in reality, the only thing I need to have a good honeymoon is you.”
A grin has taken over his entire face at this point and a few stray tears escape his eyes.
“I love you Shawn Spencer, more than I could ever say.” She holds the ring out to him, love and adoration shining in her eyes, and realizes that her own cheeks are damp. “Will you marry me?” A beat. “Again?”
“Jules… of course, I’ll marry you.” His voice is light, almost breathless as he holds out his hand, letting her slip the ring on his finger. He then wraps his hands around hers, pulling her to her feet. “I’ll marry you every single day for the rest of our lives.”
She grins and vaults into his arms, knocking them off balance. They land in the snow with a dull thud, laughter ringing out. His hands land on her hips as she straddles him, her arms falling on either side of his head. He brings one hand up to brush her braid back over her shoulder and then her lips are on his, his surprised laughter vibrating through her. His left-hand rests on her cheek, a small strip of cool metal against her skin and she grins into the kiss. The snow is still wet, the wind still whipping but her heart is full, he’s warm and she’s very much in love with him.
