Burned seven quarters of imperial training grounds to ash.

On March 11, it was Iseul's birthday!!

The newest arrival to the Shimmering Guard, at the time of the beginning of the story.

Iseul's a friendly boy with presumably no powers, but also an undying hope for the future, even with the many hardships he's faced, and keeps facing.

He's very certain that no matter what comes ahead, he'll be able to work towards a better future while being an active member of the guard.

After all, it was but a voice he heard, that led him to a fateful encounter with a guard member.

Iseul's really just a trainee at the moment, so he's quite weak, but he seems to believe that he'll grow quite strong in the future, even without any power within his blood.

But whether he keeps fighting on or not, will only matter if some people actually care about him.

yes! i think i mentioned this before but i wanted to write a story before i added in any romance so interpersonal relationships play a big part. it's in the intro post as well!

TEAM UNKNOWN 004 / SOLO PERFORMANCES

SOLO PERFORMANCE #1 ( wc / 407 ) SECRET - WJSN

honestly, when he's told he can do a creative take on one of the songs they're given, iseul immediately knows that he wants to choreograph something. he listens through all the song files to really evaluate them all before he chooses secret because of the melody at the beginning. despite having mostly street/hip hop dance experience, he had also taken ballet classes as a child and after hearing the music box intro, he thought that it would be a fun way to incorporate some of that past knowledge into it.

after discussing with the coaches for the direction he wanted to change the music in, they keep the original intro but add in a darker bass line with some drums. he wants to make the song sound a bit darker, in a sort of black swan transformation sort of vibe.

it's fun to work on it with the coaches, to really discuss all of his thoughts with them.

in the end, he loves the sound they came up with using all of his ideas. he feels like he had really chatted their ears off when it came to the discussion but he really thinks that it was worth it in the end.

he also asks if it would be possible to insert a sort of dance break before the end of the song, considering he would only be using the intro and the first verse, as well as the bridge and the first chorus before his two minutes was up. thinking about this, he wanted to extend both the intro and the outro a bit so he could show off what he was most confident in—which was of course his dancing skills.

once the song is finished, he's able to really tweak all the choreography he had come up with to fit the vibe. he had been working on the dance with just the thought of what the song might sound like originally, but once he has it, the movements just sort of pour out of him.

he's unusually inspired by the idea of a ballet gone wrong, of adding non-traditional elements and changing the song from a soft, whimsical one that turns into something much darker and more raw. it's a fun concept that he enjoys working on and the end product is something that he never would've dreamt up before.

it really just makes him understand that he really enjoys creating, whether it be just choreography or, perhaps, if in the future he might want to dabble in composition too.

SOLO PERFORMANCE #2 FALL - JUSTIN BIEBER

considering that his native language is english, he knows that to be really confident in his performance, he would want to sing in english. much more so than if he were to perform in japanese, and that really cinches it for him.

he goes through his old playlists from junior high to see if any song really stands out to him, wanting to find something that was pretty old to really invoke nostalgia vibes for him. those were always the songs that he enjoyed the most, when it was a song that had meaning for him and he stumbles across the perfect one almost accidentally when he's watching old youtube videos that he uploaded that he had hidden on his channel when he became a trainee.

it’s been a long time since he’s seen the video but he remembers the moves like he had filmed it yesterday. he guesses muscle memory truly did bless him, as he moves a little with the music as it plays, remembering the choreography as the song continues.

but it’s the perfect song for him to sing to, a song that’s within his range too.

the video starts with the intro of the song playing, with him standing in the middle of the screen before he moves towards the camera to start the dance. he had been on a kick of old songs and he couldn't help but dance to this one, having spent quite a bit of time on the choreography specifically for this video. he had used a dance he had known for a while and just added some bits and pieces into it that he thought he could perform well. his movements are smooth, sharp, everything that's needed to be noticed. (or so he hopes.) they contrast with his baggy clothes, but they're cool he would insist if anyone were to comment on them. he has a hat pulled low over his head, wanting the viewers to pay attention to his dancing and not to his face. for now. once he's finished dancing and the music has faded out, he bows ninety degrees at the camera and tries his best to catch his breath before he straightens up. it doesn't quite work, but he breathes in quickly and tugs his hat off of his head to show his face. he runs his fingers through his hair as he peers at himself, adjusting the strands quickly so they sit the way he wants them to before he finally speaks. "hello everyone, i'm your new favourite trainee, the charismatic, charming and sexy cho iseul," he says cheekily, doing a flower pose as he comes a bit closer to the camera with each step, ending with it framing only his face instead of his whole body like it had been showing for the dance portion. ( muse a ) ISEUL mainly works at the bnb as the SOCIAL MEDIA PERSON, but everyone kind of mixes jobs based on what needs to be done. within the bnb, they’re known as the resident HEDONIST and everyone says the worst thing about them is that they're MISCHIEVOUS. they started working at the bnb because SHE WANTED AN EXCUSE NOT TO GO BACK HOME TO A TERRIBLE GROUP OF “FRIENDS”.

she followed the “perfect” path for most of her life. she even graduated uni with a major in marketing whilst being considered an exemplary student! she didn’t like any of that, though, and not too long after getting a very well paid marketing job in a big corporation, she decided to say FUCK IT. so she left for europe, and traveled around for a few months before ending up at vista laterale. 

she does NOT want to go back home. she’s scared she’ll be stuck back in this lil “mold” she was trapped in before, with the picture perfect aesthetics and the fake friends, and she just CANNOT picture herself dealing with that bullshit anymore. 

iseul uses an android, and she ABSOLUTELY gets pleasure out of how much certain people get ridiculously pissed off by the “twitter for android” thingy that shows up on the tweets she makes on the bnb account.

highkey, iseul probably still has an android rather than an iphone just because she loves pissing people off. she thinks it’s funny!!! and she can still call and text and use the wi-fi and what not, so....... she simply does not feel the need to change her phone. the pros and cons simply don’t lie!!!!!

iseul loves being social and what not!!!!! she tends to get along quite well with the people around her, although she sometimes gets it in her head that they don’t like her (for straight up ridiculous reasons like which leg they crossed over the other leg the first time they met her), and she HATES feeling lonely!!!! she’d rather interact with people who seem to be annoyed by anything she says/does rather than be alone tbh. 

she’s like... an agent of chaos, mixed with a raccoon, mixed with a flirt, mixed with a femme fatale, mixed with a hyperactive toddler, mixed with a demon, mixed with a quirky grandmother, and wrapped up in beauty. 

let me copy-paste a lil bit of what i put in my app regarding her connection with muse i, which i feel says a lot about her food stealing habits: “they all live together. they’re basically all stuck together, right? in a shared space, it only makes sense for food to be shared, especially considering the fact that space isn’t unlimited... really, iseul’s doing everyone a favour by not buying her own groceries and sharing the others’ groceries instead (though they may not exactly be aware of it). otherwise, things would get really cramped in the cupboards and the fridge, and iseul just simply could not stand to see that happening.”

she loves flirting, and so she flirts a lot. she tends to get crushes easily, though, or at least, she pretends she does. fact is, she’s never been in a serious relationship, and the idea of being in one TERRIFIES her. she can definitely have romantic feelings, and actually did have some in the past, but she feels like a relationship seems like SO MUCH WORK!!!!! and that kind of commitment scares her right now since she doesn’t have any experience in it. 

she does have experience in casual relationships, though!!!!! aka mainly physical things!!!!! and maybe she has ghosted some folks when it started to get serious in the past and she got scared of her own feelings......... MAYHAPS!!!!!!

just...... chaos, but in a fun way. attracts attention for the bnb on the social media account bc “haha the social media person sure knows this generation’s humour!” but rlly there’s no thoughts behind it. she’s just vibing. but it works, so!!!!!!

she does think the selfies she posts on the bnb’s account are a BIG reason why they get so many guests, though. she’s not OVERLY confident maybe, but she does know she’s beautiful!!!!! and she will use it to her (and the bnb’s) advantage!!!!!

he’s the eldest and the only son of General Inspector Kim, so a lot of expectations were heaped upon him since he was young, but never acknowledged.

his name is Iseul which means “from dew” and is generally more a feminine name than a masculine name. his mother named him instead of his dad, because the General Inspector Kim was away when he was born.

his father treats his sisters waaaay better than he treats his son, because of the high expectations he has of him, and because of iseul’s original  personality, which was kind, compassionate and gentle. he was also a little too compassionate and indecisive and that got him scolded a LOT by his dad

he’s ordinary. nothing special--he doesn’t have much talent with the sword or isn’t as gifted with military strategies and capabilities as other people would like to believe. 

most assume that he’s talented because he’s just that good but in reality Iseul knew that he was ordinary, and because of that he had to work more than just 10 x harder than anybody else in order to live up to expectations.

his father ALWAYS compared him to the male royals, and thus cultivated an immense hatred for all royals--he sees them as manipulators, who would do anything for power, even for the girls. the only exception for this case is @gjseohwa​ .

he has a really obvious crush on seohwa? its so obvious its almost painful. the only person oblivious to it is like seohwa herself lmao and iseul is just happy to see her smile. they grew up together and to him she was the only person apart from his sisters that knew about his true gentle personality and treated him well because of it.

he’s a gifted painter and gifted musician, and is amazing with his hands--he makes carvings when he’s bored, but usually does it away from his father’s eyes (his father got furious when he found the carvings once, and iseul remembers it so clearly that he doesn’t want to experience it again)

he built a house in the woods using bamboo when he was around 12, and few know about it save for probably those that are really close to him

he likes hunting, and used to be a chubby kid when he was younger, with soft eyes and a happy smile, a stark contrast to the stoic and brutal man that people currently know

he’s known to be really brutal especially when it comes to cutting down his enemies--almost akin to a hungered wolf attacking someone, so he usually leads the offense when it comes to leading the army, because his ferociousness kinda increases the morale for those being led by him

he’s an extremely devoted individual--if you get his heart, you kinda everything he will and that he can give you (literally you’ll have him wrapped around your little finger, because he’d adore you like nobody’s business lmao)

he may be stoic and cold and brutal in front of everyone but he’s still that kind gentle iseul--its his personality, he can’t get rid of it that easily. its just buried deep down beneath every hurt that his father inflicted by never acknowledging his feats, and constantly putting him down to push him to be better.

He RARELY smiles--so far the only person he’s smiled for is for his crush, and she’s been the only one that has seen it. he doesn’t even smile at his wife (so far of course)

he’s been married for 2-3 years! 

in short, he’s a jerk to his wife because he’s in love or blindly in love with someone else--but everything will eventually be okay i guess--because i can see it as a possibility or a high possibility of him opening up to his wife and falling for her, esp after like his crush on seohwa gets completely crushed into nothing :D

TRAINEE MISSION 018 / A DAY IN THE LIFE OF CHO ISEUL

vlogging should be something that's easy right? he's a yapper and he's always been one, so it shouldn't be hard for him to talk to a camera to show a different side of himself right?

right?

but why is it oddly daunting for him to do this? he's not too sure, but he stares at the camera in his hand for a long moment before he finally turns it on. he's a little worried, he guesses, about how this will turn out and how it'll be edited to be posted for the fans.

perhaps he's just worried because he's never shown his face without makeup to the general public before, having had it engrained into him at a young age that he needed to be presentable at all times. it's a little bit of a struggle he has with himself, considering he had had a personal makeup artist up until he had moved to seoul and then after had kind of learned how to do a bit of concealer and his eyebrows on his own.

well. it was time.

time to bare his soul (his bare face) to the world.

maybe he's being a bit too dramatic, considering that he's pretty sure he doesn't actually have that many fans, but he's nervous all the same.

he clicks record.

"hello everyone, it's iseul here," he says, making a flower pose almost reminiscent of his intro video that had gotten mixed opinions from lgc entertainment fans. it's a bit funny that he had already gotten hate, but he's taking it all in stride right now. "i woke up maybe ten minutes ago so i thought i would show you my morning routine," he says, keeping his voice low in the bathroom so none of the other trainees in his dorm would hear him.

"usually i drink a bottle of water in bed right when i feel awake enough to start getting ready for the day, so i did that already," he comments, trying to explain. "i'm going to show you my skincare routine."

he goes through the motions of how he would do it, starting with cleanser and then toner, a few serums and a moisturizer before putting on sun block.

"spf is really important so you don't get wrinkles," he says, showing the bottle that he uses. it's a favourite of his from his makeup artist, because it was one that didn't give a white tone underneath. he doesn't go into detail, though it does make him hope that one day in the future, he can show a product and then hear that they've sold out of it. he can only dream.

he tells the camera he's going to get dressed, stops recording, and then starts again once he's changed clothes for the day. he's in his usual outfit of baggy jeans and a baggy shirt, with tinted glasses.

"i'm just going to do some training today," he admits, considering he doesn't have any plans for a regular day. maybe he should've thought about that before he started filming today but he thinks he'll at least go and get some coffee before heading to training.

"i drink a lot of americano, so we're going to get one right now," iseul adds, walking with the camera to go to the legacy cafe. ever since it had opened, he's been a regular just because it's so much more convenient than needing to go and buy coffee elsewhere. also, the drinks are pretty good even if he usually only gets americanos.

he gets used to talking to the camera after a while and just spends the time waiting chatting with it, acting like he's streaming but he's really just talking through a stream of consciousness. he hopes it won't be hard to edit this.

part of him wants to get into filming and editing though, wondering if maybe he would be allowed to vlog after he's debuted. not that that's happening anytime soon but he's allowed to hope for things in the future right?

once he's gotten his coffee, he films a bit of him practicing. he's not really practicing anything specific, not sure what he's allowed to show or when this will be posted so he didn't want to be seen practicing any of the nostalgia dances he's learned. instead, he just works on a bit of freestyle and loses himself in that.

he remembers to stop recording after one or two songs, and doesn't start again until he's finished.

"we're going to grab some dinner now," he says, grinning at the camera and he turns it to pan over the ddeokbokki stand he's at. it's one that's near the dorms that he frequents at least once a week, and he orders his usual of a serving of ddeokbokki, some eomuk and then a cola. he also adds some fried things, mostly kimmari and then some sweet potato tempura.

panning over his food, he records himself eating the first few bites and then records the last bites as well, letting out a satisfied sound and patting his tummy. he's feeling content, and actually a bit sad that he's almost finished with vlogging today.

it had been a bit daunting at first but he had ended up enjoying it. perhaps he would choose this as his non-performance skill one day, making vlogs? he was going to look into video editing once he was done, honestly.

"okay, and my get ready for bed routine," he says, grinning. this time, he takes off his makeup in front of the camera, carefully wiping at the places he had put concealer. he does everything again, with a few added serums before he finishes with a small spot treatment on a spot on his chin.

"okay! that's all for me," he says, grinning. "i'll see you guys in a future vlog," he says, fingers crossed that it would be true. he waves a bunch, adding a soft "bye bye~" before he turns off the camera.

hopefully that was enough content for a vlog.
