"yes," he insists, already knowing the answer and surprised that minki would question him about this. "i know you've never been a collector, but i'm friends with a lot and they always complain when their bias is in the same pose." he doesn't mention the memes of some of the members of other groups that only do one pose, having seen compilations of photocards with a person only doing one pose.
he's not going to let minki become that person. no sir!
shaking his head, iseul tuts and clicks his tongue at his friend. "you're going to debut and then the fans are going to make meme compilations of your one pose," he says seriously, shaking his head again. "we can't have that, nope, so you're going to take like. five selcas with different poses and i will evaluate," he nods.
moving to stand beside his friend but not close enough to appear in the picture, he frowns a little at the camera. "i heard the most flattering angle is 45 degrees above your head, bu you have a good face so don't use that," he says, taking minki's wrist and adjusting it until he likes what he sees on the screen.
snap & pose.
it starts off with a small comment from @iseullgc, really. nothing too major, simply iseul telling minki that he’d make a mission out of collecting minki’s photocards once he debuts. initially, minki felt touched—it’s a sweet sentiment, although he doubts iseul’s luck would favour him at every album purchase.
another thought pop up in minki’s head though, and he said it out loud at the time without much thinking. “i don’t think i know how to take selfies for those photocards,” minki had admitted, which is why iseul decided to teach him exactly how to pose now.
minki held his phone up, switching the camera to selfie mode with his eyebrows slightly furrowed. “is it that urgent for me to learn now?” he questions, turning his head to iseul. the other boy seems 100% serious about this, which is why minki relented in the first place. he doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to saying no, particularly when it comes to iseul.
“i’m sure it’ll be a while until my future fans get bored of the classic peace sign pose,” he reasons, although he has a feeling it’ll fall upon deaf ears at this point.

ooting a starter for @lgcharu
the problem with being friends with idols is that they're always so busy that it's hard to find time to hang out with them. and, while he has other people he knows too, he misses his friends. the last time he and haru had hung out was when they were filming a reality show together and isn't that sad? the fact that he can only hang out with his friends if it's for work?
he's taking matters into his own hands this year. he has a list of people he wants to meet up with again, and his new year resolution is to hang out with the people he misses. he had reached out after v&a promotions ended and had happily received a positive response that his friend was free to hang out.
finally.
he arrives at the arcade first, having thought it had been too long since he had played games with the idol but the thought of sitting inside his dorm to play video games hadn't been satisfactory enough. so where else to go, but an arcade? keeping on the downlow though, iseul is careful to wear a hat and mask, though there's quite a few people dressed the same from the weather.
spotting haru the moment he arrives, iseul hurries over to his friend and whispers, "fancy seeing you here."

"no," he shakes his head as he answers her, staring down the hallway at the person that was long gone. the culprit wasn't someone he recognized, which wasn't too strange despite his tendency to befriend a bunch of people. there were new trainees twice a year and even he couldn't keep up with it sometimes.
he stares down at how they both have parts of them that have been drenched and he lifts his sleeve to sniff at the liquid. "i can't tell what it is," iseul comments, deciding against attempting to taste it and sniffs at it again before he sighs. "i was only coming out to refill my waterbottle but i guess my practice is over now," he sighs again, shaking his head as he thinks about having to make the trek back to the dorms to get a change of clothes.
there was also the idea of washing it in the bathroom and then just wearing it while it dried but it isn't a very appealing one.
iseullgc
he's usually genuinely minding his own business when it comes to training. of course, he gets carried away sometimes if he peeks into practice rooms (to check if they're empty) and finds friends but usually he's good at keeping to himself. no matter the yapper personality that he has. but, when something insane happens so suddenly like this, iseul doesn't really have any choice but to be part of it, right? he swears he was just walking down the hallway, having been refilling his water bottle and needing to get back to the practice room he had been occupying when he witnesses a weird run-by (?) he's not sure what to classify it as but his eyes are wide, staring at the splatter of whatever liquid had been thrown and then also at the idol standing in front of him. "i have no idea," he replies, once he's over his shock. "what the hell?"
friends know not to prank sori, she’s too serious of a person for that. she’s also often boring to prank, giving little to no reaction. they still attempt small pranks sometimes, like giving sori something spicy without telling her, again, not much reaction. her boring reactions have come in handy, she’s not fun to prank so she generally doesn’t get pranked.
this seemed to be a complete stranger though, sori couldn’t recognize the face that just threw some sort of liquid on her. “do you know them?” she turns to ask the one who suffered the same fate as her, maybe he was the target and sori was just unlucky to be standing here?
she looks down at her wet clothes before returning her look to the guy standing next to her. “i didn’t bring an extra set of clothes…”. she touches her clothes “i can’t quite figure out what they threw at us”.

it's funny, really, how similar they are in some senses. their backgrounds are the same, and their families even run in the same circles. their circumstances on how they ended up here aren't the same but are similar enough that it's kinda funny really. iseul, personally, finds it amusing that she still reacts to him like this even after all this time.
either way, whether rua considers him a friend or not, he like to bless her with his presence every once and a while.
"yeah, but i guess there are worse things," he comments, shrugging his shoulders as he moves onto the next group of kids, happily handing out the little cups of hot chocolate he was holding. honestly, if he wasn't looking to become an idol, and if his backup plan wasn't culinary school, something with kids would be an ideal job for him, he thinks.
he senses the squint she sends in his direction before he sees it, slanting his glance from the kids upwards to her face when she speaks. "hey, i didn't say that," he points out, before taking a pause as he hands out his last drink. "you did!" he chirps, pleased with himself as he laughs, hurrying away from her to get more drinks to hand out.
if they weren't in public, surrounded by a lot of people--even if they're likely not paying attention to them--rua would probably have told iseul to not bother her, considering they were supposed to be working at the moment. but alas, they are, and rua wasn't about to act even the slightest bit out of line. at least iseul isn't being annoying, so it makes it easier for her to stay calm, and honestly - she kind of shares his thoughts.
she lets out a quiet laugh under her breath, one that only the other would notice, and makes sure a smile remains on her face in case anyone is looking their way. "we're basically free labour," she whispers back, agreeing, and almost wanting to add a roll of her eyes. not that she minds working, really, nor did she need to be paid anyways but it was hard not to think of them doing all these jobs as anything but.
still, serving drinks was not a difficult job so she couldn't really complain about much otherwise. the kids were cute too and everyone was generally in a good mood so rua found herself enjoying the atmosphere and experience. maybe that's why she doesn't mind chatting with iseul like this for once, although his compliment (she thinks it's one, anyways) makes her pause in surprise, not expecting it.
"oh, thanks," she says after a beat, having needed to hand out some drinks before she could really think of a reply. "wait--" rua stops again, suddenly realising something, then squints at him in suspicion. "are you saying i was bad before, then?"

cleanup crew a trainee mission starter for @lgcrua
"i know this is for charity but we're really just staff, huh," he whispers to rua as he passes her, both of them carrying trays of the winter-themed drinks to the audience. he doesn't mind it, of course, thinking that volunteer work isn't bad but at the same time he kinda wishes he was anywhere but here. he had helped make the drinks earlier and now that the performances were starting soon, they had been tasked to deliver the drinks to the people in the audience.
thankfully the audience is a lot of children so he's been enjoying himself a little, interacting with them and giving them their little cups of hot chocolate or whatever. it's fun even if he's a little unsure of why they're being asked to do this.
not that he's questioning the company or anything.
"i watched your performances, by the way," iseul adds, a grin on his lips before he crouches down to offer a hot chocolate to some of the kids who had gathered before them, effectively stopping both of them in their tracks. "you've improved a lot!"

TRAINEE MISSION 019 / CHARITY CONCERT PERFORMANCE
he's genuinely pretty excited to be participating in this concert even if it's for charity and no one will really be watching it that he can attempt to woo into becoming his fan. it'll be a good experience nonetheless, considering how he hadn't been chosen to become a member of type zero. he won't deny that he's disappointed, considering that type zero's music was something that he would've loved to perform but he knows that when one door closes, another opens.
and performing was always something that he enjoyed, even if it wasn't in a permanent group (yet) or on a big stage (yet). he's hoping the dream will come true sooner rather than later, but for now he has to focus on being a trainee and performing well.
the songs that had been approved for him to sing were ones that he enjoyed and thought he could execute well. and they're also a relatively wide range of choices, including a girl group song. even the two boy group songs he had chosen were technically different genres, so he was happy to be able to show off all different sides of him in just one concert.
when the day comes to perform, iseul doesn't feel as nervous as he thought he would. maybe the whole team unknown thing had prepared him better for this, considering that he really had tried his best even if the end result wasn't something he had wished for.
he enjoys the stage and he enjoys singing and performing the songs he had chosen. he realizes that he's definitely gotten better at singing and dancing at the same time, his smile only growing wider on stage when he notices how different it feels now compared to a while ago when he had been much newer.
it feels good to notice his growth on his own and he enjoys watching the crowd sing along. despite this performance being only covers, he can't help but wonder how it'll feel to see the crowd sing along to his own group's songs one day.
one day.

it's kind of fun though, this little impromptu picnic. he's pretty happy that minki had decided to indulge him with this, though he guesses minki of all people tends to do that more. he's not planning to look too deeply into why that is though, letting any thoughts die before they can even begin to fester in the back of his mind.
he watches as minki opens the tupperware with all the care in the world, watching a little fondly and he doesn't say anything aside from laugh a little sheepishly. he rubs his nose gently, a little sheepish and embarrassed at the praise and he tries to ignore that his ears are feeling a little warm. "i've been really into fresh kimchi," he says, though he hasn't experimented with it much aside from just eating it on its own. he had enjoyed what he had made though and wanted to share it.
"nooo, i just don't know if you're allowed to do things without asking for permission anymore," he says, shrugging a little and he's still a little disappointed that he wasn't part of the group, but he knows that something will come for him in the future when the time is right. he'll just have to keep working hard right now.
minki's words warm his cheeks though and he lets a smile split his face, happy. "i'm glad we got to do this too. it's been waaay too long since the last time we really hung out."
it almost feels like they're in their own little world. which is ironic, considering the fact that they definitely aren't. the two of them are still within company premises, late into the night, enjoying a quick snack after hours of rigorous training. normally, minki would be hoping to whoever-sits-up-there that he can finally fall asleep at a normal time instead of wandering about wide awake. but tonight, he's kind of glad for his insomnia. even though he might regret his lack of sleep later on.
minki takes the tupperware container with a smile, opening it up almost eagerly—slowly, though. he doesn't want to mess anything up. "whatever you make would be better than whatever i make, in the first place." he laughs, but he doesn't want to downplay everything that iseul has done today.
he rolls his eyes, not missing the reminder about his busy schedule these days. "if it was you, i would've done my best to make time for it anyway." he replies in between bites, looking at the other with a raised eyebrow. "do you have that little faith in me?" he teases, but he doesn't look any deeper into his own words.
"i'm glad you didn't. it's much nicer to enjoy this with you, at the end of the day. it'd feel lonely if you weren't there to eat with me."

the staff really has gone all out with the tricks for this episode, he thinks, wiping his hand off with the napkin that taeha had given him with a pout on his lips. this particular challenge had been pretty exciting though, and he's been really enjoying himself despite all the different jumpscares that had been in store for them. though, iseul has to admit that the jumpscares were mild and not too terrifying thankfully.
"i feel like salt instead of sugar is too depressing," he points out, though he has a feeling she was only joking about it and wasn't really planning on ruining her cake at the last second. "though ... honestly, if your dessert has caramel in it, you could've done that."
finishing wiping his hand, he hears her say that they only have five minutes left and that gets him rushing back to his dessert, wanting to make sure that he made the most of the last five minutes to perfect his decorating. he had never really been someone who was super interested in decorating desserts, definitely more of a fine dining plating guy for entrees, but he had spent a lot of time on pinterest for this show. "don't mess up!" iseul calls out, unable to resist a last taunt before their time was up.
It seems that breaking Iseul's focus would be a lot harder than Taeha anticipated - particularly, when she was too busy trying to navigate the various tricks sprinkled throughout the set. "Do they?!" she blinks, peering at the row of cabinets curiously. "What kind of music? Like... scary movie music or the spooky scary skeletons kind of -" Before she can hear Iseul's answer, she reaches for one of them, only to find paper skeleton taped to the door. "Oh, ha ha..."
"The staff really put a lot of thought into today's episode... We should make our cakes extra scary to return the favor..." She holds up a salt shaker in one hand and powdered sugar in the other. If she wasn't so certain that her masterpiece was going to win, she'd surely sacrifice flavor in favor of a little revenge.
"Oh, what's th - Yuck!" she cringes at the sight of Iseul's hand covered in some sort of strange material, reaching over to offer him a few napkins. "Definitely don't put that on your cake... It looks a bit - Oh, oh, oh!" she gasps, catching sight of the timer overhead. "We have five more minutes! No time to waste!"

"since i was a kid," he answers, deciding to not trauma dump but he's actively holding himself back from saying anything out of pocket. "my parents bought me a console when i was pretty young so," he adds, thinking that was innocent enough and he just shrugs a little. there's nothing else of substance to add, and he smiles at the other trainee.
he listens though, curious about everyone's gaming abilities even though he's aware that not many game as intensely as he used to. part of him kinda wishes he had done something with it, but he also knows that he would've had much more fun in culinary school than he would've as a pro-gamer ... not that he was that good.
"oh, i haven't checked my island in a while too ..." iseul comments, looking a little sheepish and he makes a mental note to do so soon if he could, probably also needing to charge his switch. he had swapped over to pc gaming more than console, so he hadn't been touching the pokemon games or animal crossing at all.
grinning at seyeon's suggestion though, iseul nods at the consoles that had opened up and he looks a little pleased. "we'll see about that," is all he says, knowing that he had been pretty good at the game originally, though admittedly, he is out of practice so it's possible that the other trainee might be a natural and beat him. it's a possible scenario, but iseul is partially also sure that muscle memory would kick in in his favour. "which character are you picking?"
admittedly, the whole aspect of not gaming as much when he was younger all came down to how focused he was on swimming. that was his life, his future career and one he enjoyed thoroughly that unfortunately had to be locked away in a little box and long forgotten about after the injury he suffered. it took him a long time to come to terms with the fact that he'd never be able to swim competitively again, and to this day, he still partly blames his own father for it, even if he wasn't directly responsible. he wishes he had spent more time playing those games like he should have been, lived his childhood a little more realistically because he feels like he's missed out on a chunk of his childhood that he won't be able to get back. and it's not like he could rewind back time now, can he?
seyeon's pleasantly surprised at how many people seem to be hovering around by the game stations, and he feels like there's more people there than anywhere else in the place and he can't help but find it extremely amusing. it felt like a comic con of sorts rather than a halloween party, he was enjoying it.
he should have known that iseul has played all of the games before, he seemed like the type to enjoy gaming and seyeon wonders just how good he is. "really? when did you first start playing?" seyeon responds, curious tone as he averts his eyes back to the screen to watch, not entirely understanding what was happening on the pokemon stall. it looked like a fight, but he never played much pokemon or knew the lore, so he couldn't say for sure.
"i never played smash. out of everything, i think i played animal crossing more, mostly during covid times. i haven't opened it for a while, i wonder if sherb hates me." there's a small frown that slides across his face at the thought of the little blue goat, his favorite villager. he hopes he doesn't decide to move out when he next decides to open his game, or else he'd keep sherb there forever like people have dungeons in their sims games. seyeon did not spend a ton of his tickets to bring him to his island. "for me, animal crossing. it's the one i played most, i don't really understand the others much. how about we play some smash? who knows, maybe i'll be ridiculously good at it and beat you?"

he's never really guested on anyone's show before, so he's really quite excited for this if he's honest. also, he loves cooking in any shape, way and form and probably would've gone to culinary school if he had not ended up as a trainee. but, that's not important right now, not when his competitive side is being challenged when it comes to baking something for fun.
focused on his task, for a moment he doesn't even realize taeha is speaking to him, before realizing even more belatedly that she's definitely trying to distract him from decorating.
"did you notice this cupboard plays music everytime you open it?" iseul asks, trying to change the topic of conversation in hopes of throwing her off of her own game, pointing at one of the cabinets. "but also, yes, i loved halloween growing up. i always wanted tp dress up suiper elaborately, but, growing up in canada, sometimes my costumes were foiled with a winter jacket," he sighs, remembering how often he would want to dress up and then have to ruin the costume by putting a jacket either on top or underneath it.
he adds some eyeballs to the ghosts he was making with marshmallow fluff, opening the drawer to look for a torch and letting out a shriek when there's some jelly inside, not having expected the texture. "that's gross."
「 ❀ 」 ━━ ˗ˏˋ BATTER UP ( episode 1 ) !
S3:EP1 - 'Spooky, Scary, Spatulas !' starring @iseullgc !
The start of the final season of Batter Up leaves Taeha with such a bittersweet feeling. After the past few trimesters, she was always looking forward to the brief change of pace from her usual schedules. On the bright side, that feeling was easily ignored with the sweet taste of the gummy worms she'd been nibbling on while decorating her chocolate graveyard cake. "What do you think?" she asks the camera nearest to her, mouth still full of candy. "Does it look creepy enough?"
She glances over her shoulder at Iseul, curious to see what design he's settled on now that their challenge was well underway. "Are you a fan of Halloween?" she asks with a smile, though her motives to distract him are a little too obvious as she fires off more questions. "Did you dress up a lot growing up? Oh! What's your favorite kind of candy?" She steps away from her bowl of frosting and reaches for a drawer in search of more candy skulls, still rambling on and on. "I always liked dressing up, but I'm not a big fan of scary - " her words trail off on a yelp, jumping away from the pink, toy spider wiggling about on top of a row of whisks. "Not funny!" she pouts, holding up the spider for the staff members to view. "What if I had spilled my something, huh! Whose side are you on?" Taeha gives a playful finger wag to the production team off camera before returning to her task.
