His round, glowing emeraldine eyes flutter for a moment behind the crowns of his inky lashes, which lower as his eyes do, brushing his pale, ivory cheekbones as he averts his gaze. Yes, they have done this dance before. They have used the red thread, which has tied them from the moment Lestat made him, to choke one another. To punish. One of Louis' fine, agile hands rises, pushing absent fingers back through his unruly dark curls before the whole of the hand settles beneath his chin in a gentlemanly, thoughtful gesture.

"But I do not crawl, not to you, not anymore," Louis says at last, and the words are strangely forceful for how softly he speaks them. "I come to you, now, under some other guise... not as your slave, on my knees, but out of love. Don't you see? I want to be seen by you as I am," he dares to reach out, the hand demure beneath his chin loosening so that he can gingerly touch one of Lestat's own icy, unmoving hands. "Why must I always surrender to love you? Can I not love you on terms of my own?"

a gun or some sort of hatchet. has a few knives for backup but mostly goes for something heavier he can use. also is well-known for improvised weapons, if there’s a shovel nearby you can bet he’ll reach for it.

MATTHEW

a variety of weapons, whatever he has on call. started with a gun, but realized quickly that was only good for emergencies. he found one day a modified bat with saw blades attached to the end, which is his usual go-to.

ZAHIRITH

she already has an array of daggers at her disposal so during the onslaught she doesn’t let them go, and in fact has found a few more to add to her collection. while some are showing wear and tear, she is also known to use some sort of sword or improvised weapon during desperate times.

LILLIAN

a sword that reminded her of the one she used in a play on broadway, she had at least gone to weapon training for that, so she was aware of what to do. she also is good with a bow and arrow, but her crossbow is her favorite. as long as she has arrows.

it’s there in the quiet of a dimly-lit room that he finds he can’t bear to face himself. when laying with her felt too comfortable and he forgets that they’re suppsoed to be enemies. that he was supposed to hate her as much as she should hate him. he’ll say that he does sometimes, just to regain control over those feelings she stirs in him that have no right to be there. he’ll tell her that she’s a pain in the ass when she argues with him about everything under the sun. he’ll tell her that she couldn’t hold her liquor and he’ll mock her for a few minutes about it, as if he has any room to talk. as if he hasn’t had as many drinks as she does and his head wasn’t a haze while his speech slurs.

he’ll tell her she’s a cheap date when she orders something small off the menu, falling into the pattern they’ve established effortlessly. he’ll tell her that she’s not so bad as far as demons go and he’ll even mean it. sobriety doesn’t look good on him so he’ll pretend that he’s six sheets to the wind to avoid seeming too serious. god forbid she take anything he says with more than a grain of salt. that might ruin this thing they have going here and he’d rather keep on lying to himself by denying it’s something he doesn’t want to end. that seeing her after a hunt doesn’t make him feel normal.

he’ll tell her that she leaves too many voicemails on his phone when he’s gone but he won’t admit that he saves them all. he won’t admit that hearing her voice can bring a smile to his lips that vanishes before his brother could notice it. he won’t admit that he looked forward to their next rendevous, or the conversations they’ll have. he won’t admit to planning out how they’ll go or being surprised when she shows up without calling or texting him beforehand, excuses falling from her tongue that he won’t believe. he won’t tell her that pinning her against the wall is his favorite part of their encounters.

he won’t tell her that she kept him sane and that he couldn’t hate her if he tried because then he’d be a terrible hunter, wouldn’t he? he needs to be the best, for his own sake. if he’s not at the top of his game then he’ll end up dead and he’ll have her to blame for being his distraction in every sense of the word. if he tells her that he didn’t mind it so much when she is then she’ll win and his pride won’t allow that.
