proof that the Vizier is colourblind:

He mistook every red-and-yellow magical bird for a bird with purple-and-pink feathers. He needed to check the TYPE and PATTERN of the feathers to realise that they don't match.

my guess is that he might have tritanopia (or some magical form of it + problems with recognizing shades)

Or else I can't explain why he looked at purple-pink feather and immediately thought „Phoenix! “. PHOENIX. PURPLE-PINK PHOENIX.
