on the day set for meeting the person they wrote the song for for the upcoming round of our songs, jaewon had been informed the meeting would have to happen over a video call due to the idol being abroad for schedules. which was how he had ended up video chat with suwei. she was somewhat a familiar face, lucid was unity’s direct junior group, that eased his concerns somewhat.

the conversation had been going fine, exchanging formalities and jaewon apologizing a handful of times for disturbing her while lucid were on their international fanmeet tour. he had just sent her the song, waiting patiently as she listened to the demo version. “so... what do you think?” he asked as the song came to an end. “i tried to work with the information given so i hope you like it, of course, i can still tweak some things before the official recording when you’re back in korea.”

it wasn’t that yuanjun lacked stamina, sometimes staircases just were a pain in the ass. the combination of being worn down from all the touring charm had been doing and the incredibly stuffy weather outside made even the simplest of exercises hard on his lungs, in this case ones as simple as walking the staircase to get to lucid’s dorm where suwei was waiting for him. “just, give me a sec yeah?” he wheezed out in between gasps for air. internally, yuanjun cursed his god damn asthma for acting up in front of suwei. the plan had just been to hang out, catch up a little, the last thing he wanted was for her to have to worry about his health. especially as she was so familiar with it herself. he leaned back against the wall, trying to stretch himself out to allow as much air as possible into his lungs. “no big deal, the weather is just getting to me, nothing to worry about.”

closed starter for @fmdyuanjun || for her company hosted events are never a bad thing. she sees the masquerade ball as an excuse to dress up as a princess and make even more friends. you could never have to much. especially as a foreigner friends where good. she’s a social butterfly. making friends feels natural for her. and for her that’s how her friendship with yuanjun was. it was natural. things with him never felt forced. she can be herself. let go all the formalities.

but schedules clashed more often than not and they don’t really get to see each other. which is why when she see him wandering around the main room she knows she has to say hello.

she approaches him tiptoeing so as not to alert him of her presence. as she draws closer to him she reaches forward putting her arms around his head while covering his eyes. “boo.” she screams while trying to hold back a giggle waiting for him to react.

truly, yuanjun wasn’t one to get scared easily. maybe it was his interest in spooky things, having sat through many, many hours of horror movies in his life. maybe it was his frequent attempts at summoning spirits and what not himself that had ended up in mini heart-attacks frequently, especially when charm had still been dorming together, seemingly always something making noise, even if never an actual supernatural being. regardless to say, yuanjun had his fair share of jump scares in his life.

so the hands in front of his eyes didn’t startle him all that much. instead, he jumped up in enthusiasm, quickly spinning around on his heel to face the girl. “suwei!” he exclaimed loudly, beaming broadly. “it’s so good to see you!” his eyes scanned her outfit, pretty and floral to the point yuanjun couldn’t help but feel the slighest bit envious. maybe if bc hadn’t been such cowards he could have looked even half as pretty as his friend. “you look so pretty! i hope you’ve been having an amazing night so far!”

NEW_DECADE [EP_9]

SUMMARY: Erii, Saito, Daisuke and Kotori model for an online Japanese clothing store. Saito and Erii discuss dating scandals among HBHT20 members. 

PAIRING: Platonic! Japanese Line

Erii placed her chin on Saito’s shoulder, angling her neck upward and parting her lips slightly. Another flash of light. Erii blinked the dots away from her vision before changing up the position.

“How about you wrap your arm around her shoulder?” The photographer suggested. “And give us some laughter.”  Saito’s eyes connected with Erii’s, and two identical smiles stretched on their faces. Saito slipped an arm over Erii’s shoulder and Erii couldn’t help but burst out laughing. There was nothing funny at all, he hadn’t even said anything to prompt the laughter. But when you’ve been friends with someone for a very long time, eventually you just have random laughing fits for no reason. 

Saito, forcing back laughter, spread his arms in confusion. “What did I do?”

“Sorry, sorry!” Erii apologized, shaking her head and holding a hand out to the photographer. “I’m not sure why I’m laughing, I’m sorry.”  “No worries, that pose is actually cute. Saito, keep your arms out. Erii, try tilting your head back to the ceiling a little. Don’t be afraid to let out some genuine laughter!” The photographer responded enthusiastically. 

After a few more shots, the photographer called in Daisuke and Kotori. The younger kids stepped forward. Kotori and Daisuke were dressed in the same style as the other two, except Kotori was sporting a purple color scheme white Daisuke was in green. Erii was very thankful that they dressed Kotori in something age-appropriate. Her hidden mom mode was always turned on when she was around the younger Japanese girl. 

“Aw, lil Koko.” Saito grinned, patting the top of Kotori’s head fondly. Kotori wrinkled her nose and dodged his touch, sending the crew into a chorus of laughs at the sass that the tall girl was exhibiting. 

The four of them had a very fun shoot. There were shots involving them group hugging, which resulted in Kotori getting sandwiched between all of them. There was one where Erii and Saito were playing ‘tug of war’ with the sleeves of Kotori’s sweater while Daisuke appeared to be shocked in the background. They also had shots where Kotori  and Daisuke were getting pushed around in shopping carts, looking like they were about to collide.

When they were finally finished with group shots, the trio was able to view the previews. They huddled around a monitor with some other staff members, looking at an array of pictures that were taken.  “This one looks like a family portrait.” Erii commented, pointing to one where Saito and Erii were standing next to each other while Kotori and Daisuke sat on stools in front of them. Erii’s hand was on Kotori’s shoulder, smiling brightly. 

“Baby Koko!~” Saito teased, reaching over to give Kotori’s cheek a pinch. Kotori moved away, sticking her tongue out. Erii chuckled, watching Saito pretend to be disgusted with Kotori. Saito rounded to give Daisuke some love, but Daisuke swiftly stepped backward, avoiding any personal touch.

After confirming that they were satisfied with the shoot, the three Japanese trainees were released. They thanked the staff before heading to their manager’s car. 

Once inside the car, Erii checked her cellphone for the first time since the shoot started. The group chat with all her trainee friends in it was blowing up. 

“Jesus, I should have muted them.” Erii complained, showing Saito how many messages were popping up on her phone.  “What’s going on with them?” Saito asked out of curiosity.  “Who knows. Probably boy drama... Jiah’s been a little restless lately.” Erii shook her head, already feeling a headache coming on thinking about Jiah’s recent decisions.  “Yeah... Longwei might have mentioned a thing or two about her.” Saito shared.

Erii shook her head again, this time in disappointment. She’s been a trainee for a long time and she’s seen a lot of wild shit. None of it ever ended well. Her friend, Soyeon from Promise, slept around when she was a trainee and all that was exposed a couple years after her debut thanks to an ex-trainee that never liked her. Jiah isn’t exactly the most likable person at HBH. If she isn’t careful, someone would do the same to her. 

“I think you and I are the only two trainees from HBHT15 who haven’t let our hormones get the best of us.” Saito joked.  “Haeun hasn’t slept around, has she?” Erii asked. Saito shrugged, furrowing his eyebrows. “Why would I know that? I’m not a gossiper like you, Erii.” The man teased.  “I’m not a gossiper! Right, kids?” Erii looked over her shoulder to get the opinion of the younger trainees sitting behind her. Kotori and Daisuke both had earphones in, scrolling through their cellphones without even looking up. “Nevermind.” Erii shook her head, knowing better than to disrupt the 02 liners and their screen time.

Saito chuckled. “But no, can we just talk about how many of our friends are fucking right now?” He asked. “I thought you said you didn’t gossip?” Erii teased. “I’m also a liar. C’mon, you know me.” Saito shrugged. “Anyways, I cannot believe that Jiah is fucking not only Hanjae and Longwei, but I’m pretty sure she’s gonna start messing with Sanghoon too.”  “Sanghoon? He seems too innocent and nice to have a friends with benefits situation going on.” Erii contemplated.  “Think again. He’s nice but he wants to get his dick wet just like any other boy his age.” Saito rolled his eyes. 

“Like Yeetai?” Erii’s grin quirked.  Saito hesitated, a smile forming on his face. “Wait what do you know?”  “Nothing confirmed but... Have you seen him and Seolhee interact lately?” Erii asked. “They’re like in that stage where they don’t get along but they clearly like each other, you know? Kinda like how elementary kids flirt.”  “Oh man.” Saito ran a hand over his face. “I told these fuckers when the season started: ‘don’t mess around with other trainees, it always ends bad’. Now I find out that my own son, the one I raised from when he was a wee baby, is going down the same path as other trainees before him.”  “Tragic, I know.” Erii sympathized with her friends dramatic distraught.  

“At least our maknaes are still pure.” Saito angled his head towards Kotori and Daisuke.

“Actually...” Kotori suddenly spoke up, taking an earbud out. “Kijung has a huge crush on Suwei.”  “It’s true. He’s whipped.” Daisuke sighed. “Mother-” Saito burried his head in his hands. Erii cackled, leaning forward as the laughter rolled through her body. 

“This is gonna be a looong season.” Saito’s words were muffled by his palms.

suwei was born to a werewolf father and pixie mother, but both her parents were murdered when she was 2

her aunt (her mother’s sister) ultimately came to pick her up, but she was largely neglectful and eventually just,, vanished djskgfhjs

ngl a good chunk of her teen years were spent couch surfing, she’s always been a bit of a slippery kid, really good at endearing herself to parents but never really trying to stay at the same house multiple times

she’ll never admit but she is still at least a little bit shelter and food insecure bc of it

eventually came across invictus and latched on, ended up joining officially after graduation

and she likes it! she does!! but she’s not like, used to it at all bc she’s been on her own for a really long time, and during her formative years

so she’s still a little bit of a loner, still isn’t great at setting roots but she’s trying, for real

it took her a good chunk of time to get settled, but it’s been just under four years now and she’s kind of there now

but she’s still a grade A brat, can and will speak her mind, can probably drive your muse up the wall if given a chance

being fake nice comes easier to her than being honestly nice, so smothers any nice acts in rudeness, a little bit tsundere pls forgive

loves teasing, has a lot of Sass, loves a good prank here and there to keep everyone on their toes

·       What is your muse’s full name and do they have any nicknames? Full name: Alexandre Jisoo Guerrero Moon Nicknames: Alec, AJ

·       What do they look like? Alec is about 6’0 tall with tan skin and steel grey eyes. He has shaggy hair dyed a dark silver. While he is rather lithe and lean, he’s not scrawny by any means. He has a lot of lean muscle and the subtle traces of his muscles can still be seen under his clothes, even when he doesn’t dress to show them off. He has a tattoo on his inner right wrist that is indicative of his father’s pack, a birthright mark given to all of age wolves when they’ve earned their place and role within the hierarchy. Alec was given his mark when he turned 15. (ex. – 1, 2)

·       Do they have any distinguishing features such as scars, unique birthmarks, etc.? Beyond the mark on his wrist, Alec has a vertical scar on the left side of his abdomen from a years old stab wound.

·       What are your muse’s friends and family like? Who do they usually surround themselves with? Alec’s entire biological family was killed, but when his parents and brother were still alive, they were a very close-knit family unit. His father, despite being the one to get his sons involved with the cartel, did his best to protect them and train them to handle anything. He was very close to his younger brother and was very protective of him, which is a trait he continues to display with his friends. His mother was a loving, free-spirited woman who inspired a passion for food and cooking. Alec tends to surround himself with people he gets along with well and those he can provide for. Without a family of his own, he’s built up his chosen family with members of Venor he works with and has connected with another descendant of his father’s pack.

·       Who would you consider the closest person to your muse? Probably Suwei. With Suwei, he has a connection to his father’s pack and is extremely protective over her. He spends an absurd amount of time worrying over her well-being and does everything he can to provide a familial bond for her.

·       Where was your character born and what was their living situation growing up there? Alec was born in Acapulco, Mexico. His early childhood was pleasant and he spent majority of his time in the kitchen with his mother or running amuck in his father’s auto repair garage with his brother playing hide and seek, or pretending to fixing the cars. He was blissfully ignorant of his father’s involvement with the cartel until he was about 15. That’s when he realized what was really going on and when his father pulled him into fold. They lived modestly with the money his father made from his shop (and from embezzling money from the cartel), but never splurged. It was a comfortable life until his father’s greed got the best of him and resulted in the death of both parents.

·       What is your muse’s biggest fear and does anyone know? If so, who, and if not, why not? One of Alec’s biggest fears is his past catching up with him. His father and brother’s mistakes led to their deaths and while Alec wasn’t directly involved in the embezzlement, he took what was left of it all and ran with it. He made a few mistakes along the way and he’s aware that while he covered his tracks to the best of his ability, both the cartel and the yakuza aren’t his biggest fans. He hasn’t told anyone this, primarily because he wants to bury the past and keep his slate clean in Seoul.

·       Has your muse ever fallen in love before? If so, with who? Did it end well? Alec has never been in love. He’s only had a handful of hookups over the years, but hasn’t found anyone he’s connected with enough to say he’s in love.

·       What would you find in your muse’s refrigerator right now? He loves to cook, mostly Mexican food, though there’s probably a small jar of Kimchi in there somewhere. There’s plenty of homemade leftovers and fresh ingredients for spontaneous meals. He’s stocked up on bottles of Corona with a couple limes in the bottom drawer, with a stray orange or two. There’s a carton of eggs, maybe a half carton of milk and a 12-pack of Pepsi. He also has a ridiculous number of takeout boxes, most of them half eaten and filled with Chinese leftovers.

·       What does your muse usually wear? Alec generally lives his life in jeans and loose cotton shirts, both crew and V-neck. Working in the auto shop, he doesn’t have any use for fancy, expensive clothes given how dirty he tends to get and how worn out the fabric ends up. He doesn’t bother splurging when he knows he’s going to ruin most of his wardrobe. He tends to stick with darker colors like navy, charcoal grey and black because it hides the dirt and grease better and if it doesn’t wash out, it’s still not all that visible so he can get away with it. He sticks with sneakers, generally Adidas or Nike and leans more towards comfort over style. When he’s not working in the garage or working on his skills in the Venor training room, he’ll get a little more dressed up, but only if he’s specifically going out or spending time with someone. At home, he tends to just wear sweatpants or basketball shorts and if he gets cold, he’ll throw on a zip up sweater.

·       What is your muse’s strongest memory that they carry around? Alec remembers vividly the sight of his parents’ bodies in the living room of his childhood home. It was an awful scene to witness and as much as he tries not to remember, it’s still his strongest memory to this day.

suwei is a 00liner, maknae but she acts pretty mature for her age. only her group members would know her baby demon sides. 

likely known for bullying her members and her suwei vs korean antics. her korean is conversational, good almost, but she struggles with grammar and especially reading/writing hangul.

she’s a good dancer and suwei stans will argue until they’re blue in the face that she belongs in the dance line but it’s because she sells it with her stage presence.

“to be honest i don’t hate it.” suwei said looking towards the older female sitting next to her. “and while yes i see the point your making i see it differently.” it was a more positive approach to the required vr filming. “it’s a way for us to connect with our fans. it makes us seem less god-like. where humans like everyone else and for a brief second fans can feel like they know us on a personal level .” in her eyes it brought them down to a level most fans probably didn’t see them on.

“but no matter how you feel about it i hope that you can get through it quickly. from what i know there’s no way to get out of it.” as idols they had to do things they didn’t like. and kami as a senior was well aware of this.

“i can honestly say, i hate doing this.” a small sigh left her mouth and she leaned back in her chair. kami found herself still waiting to record for the vr thing and she found herself wanting to complain. “won’t this make fans even more….” there was a right way to say it, “a tad bit more obsessive?” they already were and she felt like this would only push it.

“my manager told me i had to do it but to put it simply, it’s not something i want to do at all.” even if it wasn’t that obvious already. another sigh left her mouth and she turned to her companion. “how are you feeling about it?”

closed starter for @fmdrioh | suwei was young and still very inexperienced when it came to matters of the heart. she still had yet to find the person who set her stomach a flutter and her heart pounding out of her chest. but that was until she met rioh. a trainee under gold star. with her friendly nature it wasn’t hard to for her to form a friendship with him. they met through a mutual friend. in the dorms of a friend she was visiting. the connection at least for her was instant. it wasn’t even necessarily a romantic one. she just felt free drawn to him. it was hard to explain. a month or two later and they made it official.

it’s been a few months and she likes where they’re at. even with their different schedules they’re making things work. it was hard but totally worth it. she couldn’t say with certainty if it was love. but for now though it was what she wanted. maybe even what she needed. he was her support system during the long hours of practice and the endless cycle of prep and promote. he was good for her. and in turn she tried to be a pillar for him. she just hoped he could say the same about her.

she was walking out of the dance studio when she pulls out her phone. she pulls him up on her contacts and sends him a message.

1. assuming your muse has changed in some way, be it internally or as a result of a change of the external factors around them, how is your muse different? these can be as small as an opinion on a song they hadn’t released previously or as big as a major change in their background. / wc : 321

suwei in essence hasn’t really changed. her biography up until her high school graduation is untouched. she still struggles with asthma and gad and she still trained in china. all her major changes involve her training and career.

instead of debuting after only a couple of months of training in a group with a solidified lineup she now debuted in the original lineup after a year of training. she obviously feels more prepared. she loves being an idol but that doesn’t mean she knows what she’s doing all the time. a year still isn’t ideal but it is better. and this time around she does feel closer to her members and now feels less like an outsider.

along with her training her group’s debut was also pushed back by a year. so instead of being in the industry for three years she’s only been in the industry for two. which means that her solo career is starting relatively early despite the small number of active years.

she is no longer the maknae, which has resulted in her becoming a fake maknae. before being maknae really played into her image. with the title of maknae no longer hers she now has to rely solely on her personality and talent. her personality isn’t a problem. and while yes she’s talented she knows she isn’t the best. she can still be seen as childish. the maknae is in a way expected to be childish and mischievous. she’s childish and naive in a lot of ways and can’t use the excuse of being the youngest.

she is now a main vocalist instead of a vocalist which means that she gets more lines. she isn’t necessarily happy with this fact. in version 2.0 suwei was happy with being just a vocalist and allowing her members to shine. now she has more importance and she can’t help but feel pressured. feelings of doubt are also prevalent.

suwei thinks highly of her company. really any company that debuted her would have made a good impression. after the failed attempt at her former company she auditioned with low expectations. she didn’t want to get her hopes up. but she was also being hopeful. it was a chance she had to take. and to her surprise she made it in. 

she respects choi yeongjin for who he is. he's her boss and she was raised to treat those in power with respect. she doesn’t really know him so she can’t really tell you how she feels for him in a personal manner. she gets along with staff members. and again she has respect for them. She listens to what they say and follows their directions when she needs to. She is probably closest with the makeup artists.she agrees with most of dimensions actions. 

andromeda made their debut almost a decade after calypso debuted. the only other girl group under dimensions. andromeda isn’t the group that she’d pick for herself. the concept just isn’t something she personally gravitated toward. but so far she’s liked all their title tracks. she’s glad to be given the opportunity. and is happy to have he main vocal position. although she doesn’t feel like she’s the best option. despite not being in love with the concept she actually really enjoys the music they’ve released so far. she doesn’t hate any title tracks, but some b-sides she’s not a huge fan off. but overall she’s okay with the direction andromeda is taking.

andromeda is currently on their first contract. and it will be up for renewal in 2026. she has five years until she has to resign. and for her things are looking positive.

andromeda debuted a little over two years ago. she feels that isn’t a whole lot of time to base the next five years off of. andromeda since debut has released 8 singles and 7 mini albums.

two mini albums in 2019. thee mini albums and a repackaged album in 2020. and only two mini albums in 2021. each year varies so differently. there’s really no saying what’s to happen over the next five years. and all of its dependent on outside forces.

she’s still very much hopeful for the rest of the first contact. this year has offered the girls a break. and she’s hoping that means dimensions has some plans for next year. but next year may be just as busy as the year after their debut or continue to be slow.

despite how slow 2021 had been for andromeda she’s hopeful for the future. there is still plenty of time to gain the popularity they need to stay afloat. she wants to see the next contract, and will want to re-sign if given the chance. when she debuted with andromeda she made a promise to herself. to see this to the end. she’s been given this second opportunity to debut and she won’t waste it.

since it’s so far away she hasn’t put much thought into the possibility of not renewing the contact or disbanding before then. it’s a possibility she’d rather not think of. nor had she put in any thought into the possibility of her members not resigning.

she believes dimensions will do everything in their power to make that happen. and she hopes that dimensions continues this storytelling something they are known for. it’s unique and different. and that sells.

4. what are your muse’s goals and motivations? / wc : 297

suwei ultimately wants to live life to her standards. to make the most out of her situation. she just wants to be happy no matter what that entails. and she knows that it may change and she wants to be able to change with it.

she also wants to make others people happy. she can’t please everyone but she can try. and she’s learned to accept that’s all she can do. all she can do is try.

suwei in the end is in the business to make music. not necessarily to procure but to record. it’s to ultimately make a connection with fans. she loves putting fans first. she loves interacting with them anyway she can.

she eventually wants to make a solo career. she wants to release a single. maybe a mini album. if she’s lucky a full album. in the end she want to make her fans happy. she wants these to make an impact and spread a little joy. of she can make a difference in one persons life she’ll be happy. she’s hopeful but not set on it.

she wants to eventually write her own songs. she’s willing to progress slowly and learn first. she isn’t afraid to ask for her and she has a mentor that gives her the time and patience. one day she may write a song she gets to perform solo. to get dimensions to use her song as a title track for andromeda or really any group would make her feel proud.

she also wants to do more variety. it’s something she enjoys. she loves interacting and she gets to make other people happy. more guest appearances. to be able to have an extended guest appearance ideal. and again if she’s lucky she’ll get the opportunity to host.

5. what is one conflict, internal or external, that your muse is currently dealing with, has recently dealt with, or will need to deal with in the future? / wc : 340

as of right now suwei is still her in her honeymoon phase with being an idol. she has her rose colored glasses on and she doesn’t plan on taking them off anytime soon. but in the future her thoughts and opinion on being an idol will change. she is still very naive and sees the good in people. this may or may not change. but what will definitely change is her opinions on the company and the harsh realities of being an idol. eventually she will have eternal conflict. but first she must external conflict. conflict with other idols that don’t see eye to eye with her. seniors who simply feel she’s naive, or to innocents to be an idol. whether they mean to protect her or simply want to hurt her. and eventually conflict with the company. she’s going to agree less and less with their decisions. she’s going to question their ideas more. some events will occur that will simply change the way she sees the company and staff.

depending on andromeda’s career this may happen earlier. and eventually she’ll see their true nature. whether that’s through her own experience or the experience of one of her member or label mate. eventually this will lead to her questioning if being an idol if it’s as great as she made it out to be. and if the company deserves the respect she’s given them. currently the company hasn’t given her any reason to distrust them, but that will definitely change. they cosmonauts will given her a reason to distrust them and she’s going to struggle with this. she’s going to question everything she’s known.

and something that she’s currently struggling with is her sexuality. and while no she isn’t ashamed of it, she’s never had to question it before. but she can’t deny her feelings and she knows that she’s attracted to female as much as she is to males. and it’s taking her some time to realize this is okay despite what society has to say about it.

suwei made her first public appearance in quantum’s eternity music video as the female lead. at the time she was a trainee. and fans knew her face before they knew her name. she was thankful for the opportunity especially considering she’s never considered herself an actress. it was a very minor role and will be her only acting role. she wouldn’t be opposed to starting in another groups music video especially one outside of the company.

she made her first variety show appearance in 2020 on battle trip. it’s solidified a career for her in variety. it was well perceived. fans and non fans alike adored her. her personality shines through. she was simply made for variety.

in 2021 she collaborated with candy’s alice. they release a cover single of mi amor on may 13. it was her first time releasing music without andromeda. and she was glad to have alice with her. and a month later she released a duo cover for ceci korea with alice.

throughout the same few months she was also working on the colla3orate project. in june the single seoul was released.

she is grateful for every solo opportunity she’s had up to this point. she is proud of her accomplishments. a few years ago if you asked her if she’d ever debut she wouldn’t of been able to answer you. she really wasn’t sure with her failed attempt a couple of years ago.

she’d also feel grateful for any future solo activities she’s given. that could be a solo single or an ost. she’d be happy to get any variety show roles. it’s a big dream to host or co-host a show. to mv would also be something she’d like doing.

• open to any muse that has produced or written a song. i would like it if the mun is willing to thread for not only their mentorship but also any music claim threads i might claim for her. their going to be a big part of her career as a lyricist. also note that she’s somewhat sensitive so she needs someone who won’t completely crush her hopes and dreams.

ever since she could remember suwei’s always had a passion for music. she’d put on little concerts in her living room. she wants to expand her passion for music beyond just performing. to really get to know the art you must make it. she’s always dreamed o writing her own song. and being able to perform that song. or getting to see other people perform her song. her creation. her brain child. buts there’s just one problem. she has no idea how to write a song. and in steps her savior. she can either approach you or she can say something in passing that makes you want to help her. a mentor of sorts. someone to help her learn. and most importantly someone to nurture her budding passion for writing. critique is welcome but prepare for some tears.

SUMMARY: Linyang hates everyone, but not everyone wants to hate Linyang.

Linyang’s routine used to be very simple.

She would walk into HBH Entertainment at eleven, coffee in hand. She would flash her ID and a forced, thin-lipped smile to the woman at the security desk. Then she would take the elevator up 3 floors, unlock the private practice room, and wait for her very expensive private vocal lesson to begin. Her parents have been paying a hefty amount of cash for Linyang to take vocal lessons at HBH. If Linyang was your average girl, HBH would never accept someone with no intention of debuting. However, Linyang was not your average girl, and she will not allow you to think of her as such.

Linyang comes from a line of very wealthy Chinese business people. Linyang’s father is the head of a textile manufacturing company while her mother works as the head publisist of a fashion magazine. The rest of their family works as CEOs, international businessmen, actors, models, and film producers.

Linyang did not want to be an idol until about a month ago, when the idea crossed her mind after listening to one of her cousins brag about the new CEO position she had obtained from her father. What was Linyang supposed to do, let her cousin have the whole family’s attention? She requested idol training at HBH the following morning instead of her usual private vocal and dance lessons.

Now her schedule involved actual effort. Now she had to be in the practice room at six in the morning. She couldn’t use social media as freely as she used to. She had to live in dorms with girls she barely knew. And, the worst of it all, she actually had to work with these people.

“Linyang. I’m not gonna say it again.” Rushi clapped her hands together, the little patience that the Chinese trainee had was clearly wearing off. “It’s so important that you don’t just stop dancing when you forget a move. It looks even worse when you stop.” 

Linyang rolled her eyes. “If you actually taught me the steps, I wouldn’t forget them. You move way too fast.”  Rushi arched her eyebrow. Haeun let out a low whistle. 

“It’s not my job to accommodate for your incompetence, princess.” Rushi adjusted her cap, narrowing her eyes at Linyang. “We’re starting from the top. No stopping. Keep your moves clean.” 

The music started again. The phrase “princess” echoed in Linyang’s head throughout the whole routine. When the girls finished, Rushi called for break. 

Linyang marched over to her designer gym bag, which she kept far away from everyone else’s stuff. She didn’t trust any of these rats with her belongings. While the other girls chatted and laughed, Linyang touched up her make up and stretched out her limbs. 

While she was reapplying her concealer, she felt something a little off. She glanced to her right and saw that in the reflection of the mirror, Suwei was watching her while she chewed on the rubber straw on her water bottle. 

Linyang arched an eyebrow. 

“What?” Linyang asked in her foreign tongue. Suwei blinked, slowly raising her finger to her cheek, pointing at a faint red mark.

“What concealer is that?” Suwei asked, responding back in Mandarin. “La Prairie. And no, I don’t know any drugstore dupes.” Linyang frowned at the girl through the reflective glass.  The younger girl didn’t respond. She still watched as Linyang blotted the concealer with her fingertips, concealing any small imperfection on the woman’s face. Linyang usually wouldn’t complain about someone staring, but now it was getting a little awkward. And the small spot that Suwei had pointed to on her own cheek only seemed to be more and more noticeable to Linyang. 

Finally, her nerves snapped. Linyang turned around, narrowing her eyes at Suwei.

“Come here.” She commanded. The younger of the two stepped closer, her eyes wide. Linyang placed a drop of product onto her fingertip and blended it into Suwei’s skin, instantly covering up the small blemish.

“There. Is that what you wanted?” Linyang asked, crossing her arms and arching her eyebrow. Suwei observed the spot where her blemish previously was, touching the skin lightly. “Thank you.” She said breathlessly. “Hm.” Linyang responded with a short huff before Rushi called everyone back to finish up practice before dinner.

When the practice finally broke, Suwei made her way back to Linyang’s side as they gathered their things. Linyang frowned, looking sideways at the younger trainee.  “Linyang, if you want... we can work on dancing together.” Suwei offered, a smile on her face.  Linyang exhaled through her nose. She’d rather fling herself in front of a moving car than accept help. Especially not help from one of these lowlifes. But if she didn’t do better next showcase, her time as a trainee could be cut short.  And having a connection who can speak both Korean and Mandarin well would not be the worst thing.

“Tonight, then.” Linyang said shortly. 

“Tonight. Okay. See you then!” Suwei nodded, giving the older girl a thumbs up before jogging over to Kotori, who was waiting for her friend by the door.

Linyang watched the younger girl go with a shake of her head. This better be worth it.

007: ‘our songs’ songs

alarm:  on a personal level, alarm is probably the song jaewon wrote in the course of the show that he’s most attached to. it holds the most meaning to jaewon and is therefore the most personal, it’s the closest to what he would describe as his own sound and style and feels the most authentic to him. at the same time that’s also the biggest downfall of the song. for jaewon’s standards, it’s incredibly safe. he has a whole album out there that sounds and feels exactly like alarm does (his first one, biorhythm) and while he doesn’t consider having a feel for what kind of music he wants to make a bad thing it doesn’t speak exactly of good, out of the box songwriting. if jaewon wants to grow as a songwriter as a whole, he can’t just stick to writing what he’s familiar and comfortable with. none of that takes away from the fact h’s still pretty damn proud of the song though.

reply: perhaps park jaewon is just made to exist in extremes. if alarm was the admittedly kinda boring pinnacle of his comfort zone, reply was as far out of it as humanly imaginable and for his own limits, he probably overdid it a little bit with that one. reply makes him uncomfortable, as in, genuinely physically anxious. in part, that’s left-over negative association from being nearly eliminated from the show but there is more to it than that. for a large part, reply just gives jaewon major impostor syndrome, he cannot possibly present the song as being his in any way without feeling like a fraud. he will gladly go the rest of his life without seeing that stage or hearing this song ever again, hopefully unity never ventures into a cute, concept as this, jaewon probably won’t survive if they do.

pit-a-pet: in a way, pit-a-pet is a lot like reply. if anything, it doubles down on the bright, cute bublegum pop sound even more. but this time it’s bearable, mainly because the song was not made for himself, instead made to be performed by suwei an npc artist. there is no space for feeling like he’s cheating people and selling them something entirely unrealistic because it’s not he that has to convey the song and the emotion to the public which honestly eases his anxieties a lot. jaewon likes this, being able to write for other people, to not have to obsess over how he’s going to connect the different entities that are jaewon as a songwriter and jaewon as an artist. somewhere in the course of writing this song he mentally notes that maybe, he can get used to only doing behind the scenes work in the future when unity inevitable disbands. he might not feel a personal connection to song but for his growth as a song-writer and a producer, this was definitely the most groundbreaking one.

city lights: jaewon really woke up and decided to be a whore for no good reason huh? now he’s hardly solely responsible for city lights, it’s a song he writes together with ash and most of the burden of performing the song rests on the other’s shoulders again. perhaps that’s why jaewon dares to push boundaries again for a bit. not that he’s unfamiliar with sexual songs, he had a hand in writing notorious unity songs like baby don’t stop, baby don’t like it, good thing and whiplash so it’s not that he’s never done it before but it does mark the first time he’s done it for his own music. jaewon likes city light, the song has no profound place in his heart but it was fun to venture into. who knows, he might do it again (aka yes he will, turn off the lights i’m looking at you)

jasmine: in a lot of ways, jasmine feels like the perfect culmination of jaewon’s trajectory throughout the show, a song that suits his personal style and sound without being predictably boring. with jasmine, jaewon feels like he has struck the right balance between the music he wants to make and the music the general public wants to hear him make. it’s not his favorite song he has written but it’s one that’s important to him anyway. now all he has to do is channel that energy into the next album dimensions has already promised him, the album he gets to actually write songs on again.
