Side Order Typeface: Complete!

HEY. do you remember when Nintendo made a typeface for Splatoon 3's Side Order and never elaborated? It looks a little bit like this:

Well I went over to the lovely @splatoongamefiles and asked for the font file. They gave me the file, all nice and simple, BUT it was completely unfinished... I really liked it, so I finished it myself!!!

This is what it looked like when I started:

It took me 6 months because I apparently started working on this in february, but it only took that long because of my laziness! I did, however, know nothing about this kind of thing before except for my vague interest in typography and fonts. I used a free font-making software called FontForge and I had to learn it from scratch and with no help. So I think all in all, it turned out pretty good!!

I also decided to name the typeface since when I downloaded it, it was called something silly and just for the files so I named it Spire after the Spire of Order which I think works very nicely!!

Now I'll talk about what's changed because I did upload beta version 0.2 of this recently!

added uppercases A, D, G, H, I, K, M, V, W, X

added symbols " # $ % & ' ( ) * + - / < = > [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ¡ £ ¿ × ÷

added all the accents you can see above, but not ALL of them because im lazy

fixed lowercase k so now it looks like a normal letter

B - adjusted sizes of the upper and lower sections as well as sharpened corners of the lower section

K - slightly lowered the crossbar

L - curves of the corners are now slightly smoother

z - raised the top right corner by 1 pixel so its no longer 1 pixel wonky...

@ - increased the gap on the left side

deleted all the original file's kerning and did it myself >:)

and lastly! here's the link to download the typeface!!!!!! if you do use it somewhere credit is always appreciated :))))

p.s. if there are any specific characters/glyphs that I haven't added but u really need please dont hesitate to let me know!!!!

Hello everyone! I hope the holidays have been fun and that all of you are looking forward for the new year!

I for one have been fighting for my life with this little animation/animatic for the Cryptid Sightings au. I’m still not quite satisfied with it, but at some point you gotta say “enough is enough” especially when you’re working with windows old MovieMaker as your editing program because you’re an old cheapskate who refuses to buy a proper animation program

But anyway! Naff I really freaking love this au and I can’t wait to see more of it! I thought this classic vine would fit the au, so I hope you like it ;D 

As always; Cryptid Sightings is an au and story written by lovely @naffeclipse which you can read here! Moon’s design is just his normal look and Y/N’s design is a bit of a twist from my side ‘cause I’m quirky like that ;P

He could hear the distant murmur of voices spilling from taverns, the clinking of tankards echoing in the alleys, dancing together with the earthy scent of wet stone and overripe fruit that had fallen from the market stalls. He dreamt, about dancing with her. A slow dance, on a balcony somewhere, her head tucked under his chin, lips against his throat. Tongue, and nakedness, and nothing else. Fuck.

Eventually, he pushed the door open, the creak a reluctant confession, a statement of inevitability. The warmth pulled him forward, the scent of her herbs enveloping him with a calm: the eye of the storm. She was there, hunched over her workbench, a collection of glass vials and herbs strewn about, an artist’s palette. He shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned back against her wall. He murmured her name, like a prayer. Like amen.

“You’re here,” she said, like a question, and it tugged on a string tied in his chest.

“You’re there,” an answer.

She turned, her eyes lanterns in the dark, alive and bright, flickering across his features. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

He smiled, a little crooked thing, a hook in the corner of his mouth. Caught. “Just the usual hauntings.” The words were gravel in his mouth. He felt like spitting again. Instead, he said, to get it over with, “They’re gone. Riven will never be plagued by Mina’s parents again.”

“Good,” she said, hissing red-hot like a brand. “Screw my oath. May their souls never find peace.”

It never ceased to amaze him, the way she was there, both feet planted on the ground, reliable, sturdy, unwavering. She was good, even when her mood was foul. He felt like she was what he could cling to in a storm. Like maybe, if there always was her, he would somehow survive. And other times, he thought that she was the entire purpose. Of everything. Her, and her lips, and her frown.

hiya darlings! health update below the cut

TW: cancer

so, further to my last health update - I've been on a break from my regular immune therapy treatment because it was causing heart failure, and I had just started a new course of medication to try and counteract this.

i've been monitoring my symptoms - my heart seems to have recovered a tiny bit, but I have been dealing with steadily worsening headaches since early September. Headaches are a known side effect of this particular medication, so I was just planning to bear it until my next scheduled oncology clinic.

here's where things have taken a turn. Part of my break period involved getting a heart scan, and a CT of my head, abdomen, and pelvis -> since I had paused my immune therapy, we had to check the cancer hadn't spread in the interim.

I got a call yesterday with my CT results. Unfortunately, it is showing multiple lesions in my brain. The headaches aren't a side effect of the meds like i thought. I have cancer again. In my brain.

uuuhhhhh, not good news, huh? :/

I don't know what the game plan is - im expecting a call tomorrow to tell me to get my ass to the hospital so I can talk to my oncologist and see just how bad things are, and how we are going to proceed with treatment.

It's likely I'll be doing radiation therapy, but I don't know much yet. They put me on an urgent course of steroids to reduce the swelling in my brain around the lesions, so with any luck, my headaches won't be so bad pretty soon! (Bc holy crap they have been bad. People don't warn you just how much cancer hurts, y'all. Not the treatments, the treatments are bad, yes, but the cancer itself, as it is growing. I'm reeeeaally looking forward to a little relief lol)

Anyway, sorry for the shit news!! My presence online will probably continue to be infrequent, but I'll make sure to post now and then to let you know I'm still alive lmao. WHICH I PLAN TO BE. I have kicked Caesar's ass once before, and I am planning to do it again this time too ✌️

it would be funny in a horrible, helpless way, if I've spent all month in a funk---trying various things to break out of it, or at least do something productive---when I just needed to go back to my parents' house for a second visit and insist I leave early, refusing to take no for an answer.
