Hello, I was wondering: what may be the most popular choices of weapons for non benders in the Earth Kingdom?

In general, I think archery would be popular among benders of all nations, since they're capable of getting a lethal shot in before the bender even realizes they're being attacked. Hence why the Yuyan Archers are such a threat.

I think heavy, blunt force weapons would be especially popular with the Earth Kingdom's non-benders, as they have the best chance of deflecting an earthbending attack. Examples:

War Hammer / Mace (Chui / 锤)

Meteor Hammers / Double-Headed Flail (Liúxīng Chuí / 流星錘)

Whip Chain / Iron Whip (Tiěbiān / 鐵鞭)

Metal Club (Kanabo / 金砕棒) - For Kyoshi Island.

I think the Inquisitor always being sympathetic to Solas is an extension of the fact that the game wants you to redeem him; their primary role in the narrative is to nudge that route, which is why they vanish if you don't pick it. it's unsurprising that the atonement ending is the most-picked considering it has the most effort put into it. if the fight ending was an actual boss fight or the trick ending was more involved, if inky could be in any of them, I bet pick rates for them would shoot up

It's interesting because Rook can be very hostile toward Solas; it's one of the few times the arms-crossed direct tone is actually pointed and aggressive, and I love those scenes for that. We can challenge him, needle him, curse him, so there's freedom there.

But I agree; the fact that the Fight Ending is considered the Bad Ending kinda implies it's not the path you're supposed to take. The 'hey buddy maybe you should complete those quests' screen afterward definitely implies it's not a path you're supposed to take.

Fwiw I think it's less about forcing fans to feel sad for Solas and more about funneling players to the ending with the most story content. The execution isnt the best but I kinda agree with the vision.

But if I can be nitpicky for a second: I don't think a choice-driven rpg should tell players what outcomes/endings/consequences are right and wrong. That's never been a thing in DA before. There's a canon world state used for novels & comics & TV, but it's neverrr been presented as the 'best' or 'true' route. I'd like to keep it that way. 😭

My headcanon is that TK has always wanted guys to stay inside of him after sex, but his partners were either too casual for that, or just pulled out and fell asleep, or declined if he asked. As in, he told a boyfriend ‘you can stay inside after’ but maybe the guy wasn’t a cuddler or was too sensitive, or he thought TK just wanted to go again after a few minutes but the guy was too tired.

And then TK started wanting to just have his boyfriend inside of him (or to hold him in his mouth) while they were doing random things, like cuddling or watching tv. But the only guy he asked about it thought he just wanted to fuck, or maybe didn’t understand why TK would want that. Why was TK asking to just have him inside but expecting him to hold still and not orgasm?? What were they waiting for?? laskdj

So I think the times he brought it up with guys didn’t go well, although not necessarily because every guy he dated was an asshole (although I certainly think some didn’t care about him much).

But obviously Carlos is different. Carlos is observant and wants TK to feel good, during sex and before/after, so he pays attention to subtle cues and listens to what TK says. (I think TK would do the same with Carlos but might be more likely to file the information away for later.)

So when TK says ‘you can stay in if you want’ (casually, like he doesn’t mind either way), Carlos understands that TK is expressing a desire for intimacy and he does it, and loves it too.

And when TK eventually asks if they want to just cuddle this way, maybe Carlos teases him at first, like, “oh, so you don’t want an orgasm? that’s new,” or maybe he’s initially confused about what TK wants, but he doesn’t let TK shrug it off. He’s probably like, “god, you’re gonna be the death of me”, with TK expecting him to have iron will, but he loves to give TK something sweet and simple like that, and yes he grows to love it too.

I think TK doesn’t express his cockwarming desires at first when they start dating because the intimacy scares him. I do think TK knew deep down that Carlos is The One, although I think for a long time that feeling manifested as “it is going to shatter me into a thousand pieces when he eventually realizes how damaged I am, and I’ll never get over him.”

So doing something so intimate with someone he knows he’ll never recover from? Scary af. And the first time they do it, it’s so good, and he feels so safe and loved and connected, that he knows he was right. He’ll never recover if Carlos leaves. (God, this is giving me so many breakup era feels. ANYWAY.)

But they’re married now and they do it all the time!!! Maybe not as often now that they’ve got a kid, but they take advantage of the times they do get. 😊

Perhaps, but that is very clearly not what OP was talking about. OP was acting like violent revenge is ALWAYS the best option, no matter what. Which is the rhetoric of the far right.

There's a fine line between justice and revenge, and the way the online left refuses to acknowledge it leads to things like a spike in antisemitic hate crimes in the online left, the "BURN IT ALL DOWN" rhetoric that would only serve to screw over marginalized people (via removing what few safety nets we have), and of course, the counterproductive dehumanization of "bad" people that only serves to obfuscate justice.

Point is, sometimes, you gotta let go of the violent revenge fantasy and be happy with the bad people not being able to hurt anyone anymore, even if they aren't suffering as much as you'd like.

When you prioritize "hurting bad people" over "uplifting hurt people", you've lost the plot and become another oppressor.

Do you have any advice for writers trying to come up with names for characters from the different nations? I've been winging it (lots of Z and Zh for Fire Nation, lots of K/B/F for the Earth Kingdom), but I'd love some guidance, since I'm drawing a blank atm.

Here's my advice for creating reliably "Earthy" names:

Types of flowers

Types of rocks and earth

Types of gemstones

Types of metal

Names that allude to spring

Names that allude to agriculture

Chinese and Japanese names that possess a character or radical for "earth" (土), "rock" (石), "field" (田), "jade" (玉), or "mountain" (山)

That's just my two cents though. You can name your characters whatever you want. ATLA names are canonically very silly.

Saw your post about Solas/elf/dwarf stuff and one thing that baffles me about Veilguard is them changing elves taking inspiration for their bodies from dwarves to taking inspiration from humans (who were in Thedas now at that time I guess?), confirmed explicitly by Mythal. Like what. Why change that. The dwarves/Titans were made such an afterthought in this game it's crazy. They were like oh yeah btw the Blight is literally the world being sickened by buried/unresolved atrocities. Moving on tho

Tofu, my beloved. Green curry with tofu. My sister made an *amazing* buffalo tofu, and what a way to go out.

This one's pathetic, but most protein bars. I know "foodier" food is better, but I miss having something easy and non-perishable that I could grab on short notice and not pass out, lol.

Eating out has been by far the hardest, especially eating out with other people. Burger buns. Any type pastry/dessert that's not a croissant or ice cream. Donuts. ;_; Anything with chocolate. My vegan friends and I can never eat at the same place. And some places just straight up have soy in everything.

I will say, though, that the thing I miss the most is my money. 😆 I'm fortunate to live where I can find a soy-free version of almost anything. But I have go to Whole Foods, or buy the $10 chocolate bar. I always liked Whole Foods because mainstream processed foods always made me feel off (and now I know why), but having it be mandatory after inflation really sucked.

I'm hoping that since my issue was a mild/moderate allergy PLUS gallstones, I can be less strict in the future. I know it's still not a good idea to eat things that make your throat and internal organs swell up. But I might be able to do restaurants on special occasions and not have it become a medical emergency. But either way, I'll still be an anti-incidental-soy-in-foods-that-don't-need-it crusader!

Anyway, bless Guittard for baking/chocolate chips! And I make homemade ramen with chicken broth or bone broth, dashi powder, and chili crisp. Eventually I'll try pum-fu (pumpkin seed based "tofu" which I've been told is pretty good.)

And speaking of chocolate, my local Whole Foods carries Milkboy brand, which is a very good soy-free milk chocolate. And Dr. Bronner's (yes, the soap people!!) make soy-free chocolate I'm obsessed with.

LOOK! Their chocolate looks like their soap!! (but it tastes a lot better, lol) The coconut praline is A+++.
