Marisa, you drank a Hourai Elixer…
(Granted, that was due to outside help, AND it was for a good cause. Sticking around for Reimu at @warriorsofcrimsonrealms ).

Mages and Monsters
Mages are strange creatures.
In a world so full of monstrous hybrids and mythical creatures, mages sit on the proverbial line separating man from monster, stuck in both worlds without any hope of fitting in either one.
Because outwardly, they're average. No different from the billions of other humans. They're not born with the marks of monsterdom; they don't possess horns or leathery scales to shrug off small caliber bullets like dragons do, nor the claws and bone crushing jaws of werewolves, not feathered wings and razor sharp talons of harpies, nor the wraiths ghostly ability to become immaterial.
Outwardly, they're average. Ordinary. Mundane. Human...
Almost.
Because Price and Ghost are experienced enough to see the thing laying beneath the paper thin veneer of normality, are seasoned enough to quickly notice the one thing that puts an 'in' before a mage's 'human' description — Magic. Not the smoke and mirror kind magicians or charlatans use to swindle tourists out of money, but real magic.
The ancient kind, the capricious kind, slumbering like a beast inside the hollowed out cavern of a heart until it awakens with a terrible bloodlust. Each of them can attest to this; Price sports gnarled patched of scar tissue on the scaleless parts of his arm from ice burns, his draconic breath having saved him from frostbite that had devoured more than a few good men. Though Ghost doesn't show much skin, one can sometimes catch sight of branching fern patterns on his neck where lightning magic had shot through him. Gaz's back is peppered with hundreds of little cuts where a glass mage's summoned elegant ornaments had shattered into millions of shards, aiming to take out his wings.
And now Soap sports a mark of his own, his side tender red and blistered with a second degree burn. It could have been much worse, your flames were hot enough to melt steel, the only thing having kept him from an early cremation being the two solid concrete walls your magic had had to travel through to hit him and the enhanced regeneration of his thick hide.
But such power demands a cost — one paid in blood. For magic is as fickle and capricious as a rabid dog, just as eager to lunge for your throat as it will at the enemies, leaving lasting wounds for all to see; rough and calloused palms, skin blackened from blazing heat and freezing cold or marked with fern patterns of electricity, fingers stiff and marred with cuts from thorns and crystals and rock and glass, bone deep cuts where the liquid mana had burst out from the skin, leaving faintly glowing scars that never heal right.
All mages are born with this grievous gift, though one never knows whether it will present itself with a pitiful flicker of embers in a man's dying breath, or with a maelstrom of an infant's first hiccup. That's why most mages are sealed, by choice or force, a process which puts chains on the magic, making it and the mage docile.
But you are unsealed. And you flaunt that fact readily by melting the tail of their APC helicopter with one spell, not even waiting for them to crash before flooding the terrain with suffocating ash, the lenses of their gas masks already fogging up from the heat as they get out of the cloud of heavy sediment before it bursts to flames.
Sometimes the magic becomes unsatisfied with the weakness of the body, demanding more than just its pound of flesh and molding the body like clay to better suit it— Mage Marks, they're called — the subtle glow of magic in your eyes, the mana visibly pulsing inside your chest, the skin of your arms slipping away like wet paper before growing anew, this time mimicking the surface of magma, or the rocky barnacle encrusted reef, the gnarled bark of a tree, the crystalline inside of a geode, the ice spiked ground of tundra, or any other form that suits the magic in your veins.
The process is excruciating, the mana burrowing and gnawing on every nerve like a parasite that replaces what it eats with itself. But to you, that's an acceptable loss, because marked mages far surpass their unmarked fellows, your magic stronger and wilder, feral and viscous like the primordial force of nature.
So it becomes concerning when you're laying on the floor, captured, battered and bruised and calm.
Ghost had been waterboarding you for a while now, your body tied to a chair that had been tipped back so you were parallel with the ground. With water pooling around your head, your top half would have been soaked to the bone had your magic not been simmering in your veins, the magic suppression momentarily reducing the raging inferno in your chest to a meager flicker of flames.
They can't kill you, but limiting your magic for even a second is death in and of itself.
Your breathing is harsh as Ghost pulls away the cloth over your mouth, asking you a question as steam rises from your skin. Most would give in long before this point, but you just grin, eyes glowing with a burning glow, and make a comment about how good his arse looks from your viewpoint.
You manage only one small note of laughter, pitiful embers sparking at the corners of your lip, before Ghost drops the rag back over your face and begins anew.
Price watches all of this, sharp draconic eyes noting how the mana glows in your chest, pulsing like a second heart (assuming you had one to begin with), noticing how the water turns to steam a little faster when it splashes over your skin.
And Price knows.
You... You are going to be trouble.

--------------------------------------- I also have other monster characters ^^ ----------------------------------------
Name: Jormundgandr Profession: Magician and scientist Height: 2.40 meters Race: Chimera (snake) Age: 80+?
Although at first glance York looks like an ordinary, average mage (something between skinny and wiry in physique), but he still has a lot of physical strength and his height "gently" hints at it. Weak expression of emotions and lack of empathy makes Snake a cold-blooded and strict man of science who respects order and observance of rules. Acquaintances often refer to him simply as Snake or Bookworm.
a few facts about him: - Works as a professor at the Academy of Magic. - Poor eyesight - Constantly freezing (hands like ice) . - Likes to spend time alone and quiet. - Has been married twice.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers! Spread the self-love 💞
From newest to oldest, and unfortunately leaving out many stories I adore but that aren't as sophisticated writing-wise because I've grown as a writer since then.
like a damaged nerve, like a dark bird Stranger Things | Robin Buckley/Chrissy Cunningham/Nancy Wheeler | 87k
In 1993, Nancy falls asleep on Barb's grave and wakes up in 1985. From there, she finds herself completely unstuck in time. It's also a love story.
Novel-length time travel fic about grief, recursive, Sisyphean vibes, also I think the longest fic I've written in any fandom.
In Her Hips, There's Revolution Stranger Things | Eddie Munson & Nancy Wheeler, Robin Buckley/Nancy Wheeler | 70.5K
Finally, she's able to get the number in right. The ring is sharp against her ear. Pick the fuck up, she thinks, and someone must be listening, because the ringing stops "All right, Harrington, what's on this week's nightmare menu? And don't tell me the one about drowning in your pool again, man, we all know that's rich kid--" "It's Nancy." A long pause, then a laugh. "Wheeler? To what do I owe this late-night honor?" "I, um." Nancy's tongue feels stuck to the roof of her mouth, like bare skin on upholstery. "I was wondering if you've got a couch I can crash on?"
This fic exists because I read a punk!Steve fic and in it Nancy was not into the punk scene and I was like. But what if she was, though. Riot grrl Nancy? Riot grrl Nancy. Complete with Ronance and Nancy and Eddie as best friends. Described by readers as "Jane Austen with more alleyway head." One of my only fics to get an & pairing and not just a / pairing, because the friendship really is that central.
objects in the mirror (are closer than they appear) Stranger Things | Joyce Byers/Karen Wheeler | 5.3K
"Which do you think you're having?" she asks, pushing herself back to the land of the ordinary. "Lonnie wants a boy," Joyce says. "Your husband?" Joyce snorts. "If you can call him that." There's something nice about how that sounds, like the idea that just because you said your vows in front of God and your whole family doesn't mean you have to call the man your husband. Karen smiles. "You know what?" she says. "Give me a cigarette after all." The smile Joyce gives her back is like a secret between friends. "My kind of girl," she says, fishing into her purse, and when Karen takes the cigarette between her lips, Joyce lights it for her.
This fic was for Women's Wrongs day of Stranger Things Femslash week, and I was so proud of the strange fucked-up short story vibes I managed to get here. Joyce and Karen spousal murder 5ever.
pretty girls with bloodstained teeth The Magicians | Margo Hanson/Alice Quinn | 4k
“You’re angry,” Alice says. Margo opens her eye to see that the smile on Alice’s face matches the one in her voice. “And you’re right to be.” “If I’m angry, it’s because there’s a monster who seems to show up everywhere I go.” Alice lifts a finger and runs it along Margo’s cheek, leaving a trail of ice crystals down its path. “Oh, Margo,” she says, sugar in her voice. “You’ve never been as good a liar as you think you are.”
This was my OG monster!girls story, based on the idea that Alice stays a niffin and seduces Margo to the dark side. It was so fun to write that it actual inspired the original novel I wrote and currently have on submission.
Chimera The Magicians | Alice Quinn Character Study | 1k
She is part girl, part monster, and moving forward is a statistical improbability.
In defense of one of my favorite unlikeable female characters.

Hiemelda at the circus
Hima works in a circus cafe, but she is not an ordinary barmaid, but a magician who turns serving her treats into a real show! Hima is calm and focused, her hand movements are confident and smooth. A moment ago, she was holding the card you selected from the deck, which has now turned into a sweet decoration for your cake. A teapot floats above her head, which Hima uses to pour a variety of flavors of sweet syrup and icing over ice cream and cakes. One day, while making ice cream, Hima tilted her head to pour strawberry syrup on it, but nothing happened. The small line at the buffet fell silent, watching Hima. Is this magic teapot out of syrup? Focus failed? Now will it be possible to see what it's secret was! Hima, looking up at the teapot, shook her head slightly, raised her hand and hit it with her palm - a dull clang, and nothing - Hima hit harder, and then a flock of pink butterflies flew out of the teapot and began to swirl around Hima. Without hesitation, the magician moved the cone in her hand to each of the butterflies. The each butterfly landed on the ice cream and turning into an edible strawberry decoration. So a new “Fluttering” ice cream appeared on the menu, and Hima seriously started learning the show magic to not fail again

Please love and applaud - six-armed mage of two elements and sexy asshole with manic tendencies Jonathan!!!
Well, let's get started.
The boy is quite complex, even a little confused, or maybe on the contrary, simple as five kopecks. It's up to you to decide. Jonathan is the result of John Nathaniel Gray's split personality, and is the latest version, the third evolution of the magician's consciousness. Jonathan possesses the magic of fire and ice, as well as the light and water involved. He is powerful, but he turns that power against the world. His only goal is to recreate the chaos his soul craves. And to recreate it throughout the world. Until he succeeds, he tastes the lives of ordinary people. And maniacs. He seduces and then he kills. Or one or the other.
Heh-heh-heh.

The Gap in the Evening, Entry 6: “What is a Spell Card?”
The whole time we were here, people were talking about these things called “spell cards” and their prominence in daily practice. Out of an abundance of curiosity, we decided to seek out that person we talked to before we jumped in here: Marisa Kirisame. Not only would we get an answer to that question, but we would also get her input on our incident investigation. It wouldn’t be long until we got there either. Perhaps, quite the opposite. Nothing more than a short walk.
Upon arrival, she seemed like a nice person like the one we met in the parallel universe. And then we saw the inside of her house. Words cannot express how messy it was, but would we say that to her when we’re the house guests? Absolutely not. After getting over that little detail, we introduced ourselves and asked her about spell cards. Here are the details we gleaned off of that conversation.
Spell cards were drafted after the Vampire Incident to make fights as equal as possible between parties which may differ extremely in power, first enacted during the Scarlet Mist Incident.
Spell cards are unique special attacks that increase the user’s offense and defense, sometimes granting invincibility and/or intangibility depending on the specific details. However, they can only use that attack until the spell card expires.
“The most beautiful one wins” specifically refers to the absence of dirty tricks. Basically no cheating.
You must name it before you can even use it, and it must have meaning behind such a name to generate power/magic. Likewise, you must declare how many spell cards you will use over the course of the duel.
Abilities noted on a spell card suggest special attacks when used up close in fisticuffs, or generate a pattern of magic bullets from long range that the other party needs to dodge.
Sometimes, such an attack can destroy their opponent’s bullets en masse, earning them the nickname of “bombs” by their users.
Rules enforced vary by individual cards, which stipulate specifics during each attack such as time limits, equipment used, and win/loss conditions/restrictions mainly seen in the dodging role.
Capture or break a spell card by breaking the user’s defensive stance, making them flinch momentarily or collapse unconscious immediately.
Time out a spell card by dodging the attacks that come with it until the card’s time limit expires. In cards where the user is invincible or intangible, dodging is your only real option.
While it’s tradition to rule out the reuse of a spell card until the duel ends, some people may declare it again as a bomb in between standard shots and punches.
The loser must concede if they use all their cards and are unable to redeclare one for any reason, even if they have physical stamina remaining. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of a premature knockout before then, similar to accounting for unconsciousness in a boxing match.
These are not fights to the death, and the winner is not permitted to kill the loser under these rules for any reason, especially if they’re a human.
//How you would go about spell card duels in RP is usually up to you, but it’s standard for duelists to declare their attacks first. Consider this an unofficial draft of some helpful IC and OOC guidelines for such a duel, or if you want to use a spell card as a bomb against an incoming attack.
In the wake of that lecture, Marisa talked a bit about the Parallel Satellite Incident and how she had noticed that some things were a bit… off around her. She said that she’d help us in any way she could, but there were some things that she simply couldn’t do without help from others. But that wouldn’t stop her from “shooting a massive laser into the surface of the gap” if anything got in her way.
-Renko Usami

Muse Notes: Marisa Kirisame
//Help me I went too far writing this one, but isn’t that Marisa’s whole deal to begin with?
Title: Ordinary Human Magician
Universe of Origin: L1
Size (headcanon): Fairly short, 4’9”
Species: Human
Pronouns: She/Her
Age (headcanon): Young adult, exact age unknown
Personality: Marisa is outwardly outgoing and informal, noted by Akyuu to have a condescending personality with an interesting sophisticated side that lets her socialize with just about anyone she meets. Her curiosity makes her quick to act, sometimes putting her in dangerous situations to satisfy her interests. Her speaking style is rather informal and tomboyish, often using “Ze” at the end of her sentences, regardless of whether it’s to express her will to act or if it’s just to say it even if it sounds phony. Marisa’s often been known to be a habitual liar and compulsive collector of valuable/magic items, the latter often considered as kleptomania. Secretly, she’s rather hardworking and goes to great lengths to better herself and become known as a great magician, often taking pride in her capabilities as Gensokyo’s 2nd best in youkai extermination and incident resolution.
Occupations: Magician, Owner of the Kirisame Magic Shop, Youkai Specialist, Burglar Author
Kirisame Magic Shop: A shop for anything as an attachment to her own house. Although her main occupation, she’s usually absent and the inside is disorganized. Her services are otherwise honest and she won’t take payment for jobs she fails, which attracts some customers like the Three Fairies of Light despite not getting many clients due to its inconvenient location in the Forest of Magic and ambiguity of her services (“will do anything”).
Youkai Specialist: Marisa specializes in jobs to deal with youkai, often taking away Reimu’s work. She also manages preventative measures and aftercare services for youkai attacks in a manner differing from how Reimu does it.
Burglary: Marisa often brazenly (and loudly) breaks in through the front to steal items in plain sight of any spectators. While she usually steals books and not money, nothing is ruled out if it has a magical or monetary value. She claims that the stuff she steals is being borrowed and that the previous owners can retrieve them after she dies. After being lectured by Eiki about physically losing her tongue for her compulsive lying, she’s called herself a thief at least twice.
Author: Marisa has written a book called “The Grimoire of Marisa” which details spell cards of various people she’s met between the Scarlet Mist Incident and Underground Geyser Incident. She still intends to publish and sell it despite the time that passed since she finalized her first volume. It’s unknown if this volume was the inspiration for Sumireko’s “Grimoire of Usami” to any extent, as said tome has similar contents within it.
Home Region: Forest of Magic
Ability: Capable of using magic
Magic as a Human: Without any innate powers or abilities, Marisa has trained herself in light and heat magic with noticeable star motifs. This is her calling as an eastern magician with a western approach to magic, the exact opposite of Patchouli Knowledge. This magic has extremely high power and few weaknesses, although very few non-destructive uses. Most of her spells are mainly for flashy youkai extermination and danmaku shows named after stars and astronomical phenomena. All of this comes from rigorous self-imposed training and preparations that she tries to hide from others. The source of this magic mainly comes from magic experiments with mushrooms in the surrounding Forest of Magic, turning them into things such as components, chemicals, medicines, and potions through trial and error. Whether it succeeds and she finds the right pattern which creates magical materials or fails completely, she records the details everything she does with those experiments.
Flight: She uses her magic broom to fly around Gensokyo, sometimes using it in some of her close-quarter attacks like Witch Leyline and Stardust Reverie. Other early experiences with flight include her use of things such as a magic vine, illusionary wings, and- in one specific instance outside of Gensokyo- angel wings. (*//See Shuusou Gyoku for more details on that last detail because that’s a first for me)
Speed: Marisa’s speed is one of her pride points, making her the fastest amongst Gensokyo’s humans. Aya still bests her overall. She once used a Double Spark against Watatsuki no Yorihime, moving quickly away from the first laser so she could shoot a second laser before the first one even reached its intended target.
Imitation: Several of Marisa’s attacks and spell cards were supposedly copied or stolen from others, including Patchouli’s Love Sign “Non-directional Laser”- which was confirmed to be copied- and even her signature Love Sign “Master Spark” was supposedly copied from Yuuka or Gengetsu. Other potential suspects include “Orreries Sun” from Mima’s own orreries and “Cold Inferno” from Remilia’s familiars during the Endless Night Incident, but none of them are confirmed to be copied. It’s unknown if she’s talented at imitating others’ moves, if she does so through sheer effort, or if she’s just building her skills through observation. Notably unable to imitate Kaguya’s spell cards because of the uniqueness of the tools used which Marisa can’t reference due to not owning anything like them.
Skills:
Strength: Magicians are typically physically weak. Marisa is an exception, as she is still a human. She could physically climb up Youkai Mountain and down Genbu Ravine instead of flying like everyone else. She was also seen successfully managing to lift Urumi’s stone baby, which Urumi makes notoriously heavy with her ability to attempt to encumber or drown people.
Academics & Dedication: Marisa’s magic abilities come from her will to better herself, her tireless experiments on mushrooms, self-imposed training, and significant magic research on her path to being a successful magician.
Possessions:
Magic Broom: A bamboo broom that completes Marisa’s magician appearance and allows her to fly. It seems to be sprouting leaves from exposure to magic despite the bamboo being dead. Doubles as a means for shooting danmaku and to swing at stuff as a melee weapon.
Mini-Hakkero: An eight-trigram miniature magic furnace originally made of common metals that were then replaced by hihi'irokane metal, given to her by Rinnosuke after she excommunicated from her family and moved away. Capable of generating heat and magical energy of various levels. Output levels range from being a small stove burner to that of a flamethrower, as well as an extremely powerful magicannon. It can also generate cool breezes from one of its corners. The later hihi'irokane model even gleans negative ions from the air. This tiny magical item is the main source of power that generates Marisa’s Master Spark.
Explosive Magic Items: Countless magic items made from mushroom magic that Marisa created during her continuous research, which she then stuffs under her hat or within pockets of her skirt. They’re usually throwable and explode shortly after being thrown.
Sword of Kusanagi: One of three legendary Imperial Regalia of Japan. Essentially a sacred treasure made of the same metal as the mini-hakkero, it was a weapon used by the god Susanoo to slay the eight-headed/tailed serpent Orochi, which also had the capability to control the wind. Possession of these items was seen as proof of the Emperor’s divinity and his right to the Japanese throne. Marisa found it in a junk pile one day and traded it with Rinnosuke for him to repair her mini-hakkero, thinking the sword was just scrap metal. Not one of her brightest moments, but Rinnosuke thinks the rain that followed after the trade was a divine sign that the heavens approved of his possession of the sword.
Lunar Capital Occult Ball: The cause of the Urban Legend Incident, created by Sagume Kishin with the intent of moving the Lunar Capital to Gensokyo by creating the urban legend that NASA is hiding the truth of what they found on the moon. Being near it could cause false rumors like urban legends to materialize, and it could change the world by using people’s words alone. Sagume gave it to Marisa some time after she, Reimu, Sanae, and Reisen defeated Junko without taking the Ultramarine Orb Elixir, explaining the specifics of how this power stone worked to her.
Magician’s Hat: A pointy black and white witch’s hat, accented by a (usually) white ribbon or bow sitting above the brim, although said ribbon can be seen in different colors depending on the day. After all, “magician” is sometimes just another way to say “witch” without actually saying it. She has a second identical hat, except it’s dark blue. Usually complimented by one hair braid with a bow on the end of it.
Black Vest/Skirt: She thinks that’s what magicians should wear… and also so you can’t tell when the clothes are dirty. The vests she wears sometimes have differing patterns of buttons. She has an identical wardrobe of vests and skirts in dark blue.
Apron: Usually white. She has one brown one with an “M” on it which she wore while investigating the Palanquin Ship.
White Undershirt: A shirt worn underneath her vest. Most of them are white, but not all of them.
Lots of Shoes: It’s almost as if she’s worn a completely different pair every time a new incident’s come up. Did she buy them, make them, find them, or “find” them? Who knows!
Magic Wands: She had a few during her apprenticeship under Mima, which she keeps somewhere in her house. Most likely her bedroom. When investigating the Palanquin Ship, she brought another wand. She could use them if she wanted to, and she has the skills needed to cast magic with them, but she usually doesn’t.
Purple Magician’s Robes/Hat: A wardrobe combo she wore while studying under Mima when she was much younger. She doesn’t like to openly talk about it. Was it because she was a redhead the first time she fought Reimu?
Muse-Specific Headcanons:
Marisa left home to pursue magic during her teens.
She sees Reimu as her best friend and a friendly rival in youkai extermination, although their relationship has since grown due to how many incidents they resolved together.
Her relationship with Sagume is seen as friendly after the Lunar Incident was resolved, although they barely talk due to pure distance.
Patchouli is friendly enough with Marisa to help her resolve select incidents despite being the main target of her thefts. Other times, Patchouli will sometimes actively try to get her out of the house.
Marisa’s romantic stance is complicated at times, which is often hard for her to explain until she remembers how many hearts she’s stolen.
Marisa’s presence in the first 5 games (PC-98 era) are remembered by Marisa as part of a perceived magician’s apprenticeship under Mima sometime after leaving home. Whether this happened at all is unclear, as she sees it as either a hazy memory and possibly just a dream that Doremy keeps bugging her with.
At least one person by the name of Lux Crownguard has read one of Marisa’s published reports on magic, and Marisa is aware of her “Final Spark” attack.
Blog-Specific Lore Notes:
Marisa was asked by Renko and Maribel about the nature of spell cards, which she explained to them before they discussed the Parallel Satellite Incident. She shows interest in the investigation due to how the parallel Gensokyo is floating in an outer space-like gap.
After an accident during a Lunar New Year festival of 2024 that started a series of events known as the Resolvers Incident, she along with Reimu, Patchouli, Koakuma, Youmu, Shinmyoumaru, and Alice got involved with the Frost Miko Incidents and Beasts’ Menagerie Incident after being gapped across time into multiple different realms beyond Gensokyo. This RP blog takes place after the Frost Miko Incidents were resolved, but she along with the others are willing to answer questions about it. No, the Beasts’ Menagerie Incident hasn’t been resolved yet. Yes, she still wants to “borrow” some of their things. Yes, the Master Sparks she used were deserved, at least that’s what Alice said.
Marisa is planning on creating a second volume of her “Grimoire of Marisa” which focuses on more spell cards and special abilities from anywhere and everywhere. For the latter classification, she’ll offer to turn it into a danmaku regulation-legal spell card for free by giving it a name and time limit, just like she did with Reimu’s “Fantasy Nature” spell card. Whether this will be on this blog or another one is TBD, but you can submit your own requests through the ask box on this blog for the time being.
Marisa is currently leading in the investigation of the West Mountain with Reimu
Marisa helped Koakuma make a healing potion to heal another Koakuma and taught her some of her own magic
Marisa is helping Daiyousei with maintaining Hakurei’s Basement Sick Ward to help a bunch of sick fairies and others
Marisa is helping Reimu resolve the Eternal Dark Incident

Glistening Summer Days | Artist: tsukimoto aoi
Story 1 A sunny day sometime in August in the Garden of the Sun. Summer is hot―everybody knows that. But summer is also beautiful―not so many know that. The bright blue sky soared above. Sunflowers stretched up to the sun with glee. Splashes of water leaped up and twinkled in the light. Butterflies danced with grace, flapping this way and that. Soft gusts of wind blew and sent music through the trees. Summer days like these melt all of one's troubles away. As such, a certain youkai could be found, doing something she wouldn't normally do.
Story 2 Wriggle Nightbug is a firefly youkai who suffers in the cold. However, since fireflies are summer insects, she has no trouble in its ferocious heat. She's often seen hovering in the night sky, but today, she's playing under the sun. After defeating the swallowtail butterfly fairy, Cirno declared summer to be her own. Capable of manipulating ice, she does tend to struggle in the heat, but today, she's off to play with a straw hat on her head and a popsicle in her hand. Despite the fierce summer sun, she's full of energy.
Story 3 This summer, Gensokyo was struck by a terrible heat wave and was hotter than ever. There was once an incident that disrupted the four seasons and smothered some parts of Gensokyo… but this time around, it was unclear if someone was up to no good or if this was all part of nature's plan. However, considering how the shrine maiden and the magician played in the sun and cooled off indoors while waiting for autumn's arrival, it seems there was no great incident to be resolved. Apparently, there's another world where Gensokyo is in the midst of a never-ending summer. Perhaps the Wriggle and Cirno of that Gensokyo see glorious summer days like today as nothing out of the ordinary. Or maybe not…
Story 4 Beneath the crystal blue sky, cool water sprinkled down on sunflowers in bloom. Perhaps spurred on by the beauty of the summer day, Wriggle was busy watering all the flowers, a joyful grin on her face. Nearby swallowtail butterflies swooped under the droplets and cooled themselves off with a pattering of their wings. But suddenly, Wriggle felt droplets of water slashing on her head."Is it raining? But it was such a nice day!" she exclaimed. Starting to feel like one of the flowers she was watering, she looked up to see Cirno flying above her through the bright blue sky.
Story 5 Munching away on her popsicle, Cirno called down to Wriggle, "Hey, whatcha doing?" The frosty air around her turned to water droplets in the heat, which were raining down and dampening the ground below her. "All the flowers are in bloom, so I thought I'd water them," replied Wriggle with a giggle. She adored the beauty of nighttime but was amazed at just how pretty the daytime could be too. "I see… Well, be sure not to get a sunburn!" chuckled Cirno. The two may not be the closest friends, but their conversation bloomed like the sunflowers around them. Even the butterflies seemed to enjoy listening in as they flapped their delicate wings a little livelier than before.
