Andromeda was the quiet sibling. Middle child, well-mannered, and clever. Cygnus and Druella thought little of their secondborn until the day the teen ran off without a second glance. Walburga blasted Andromeda’s name off the tapestry, and the family was supposed to think little of the traitor. Ignorance should have been bliss, but Andromeda was the main focus of the pureblood tabloids. Runaway, pregnant, and married to a muggleborn, all while a war was looming overhead. It was risky, but Andromeda chose happiness, and happiness was what they got for a while.

Everything changed the day Frank Longbottom showed up at the Tonks’ residence. Andromeda exchanged no pleasantries since the auror’s arrival was unannounced. Edward had gone out to run errands, and Frank brought the news that Ted would not return. There was no explanation since details were still being examined, but Andromeda could piece together that there was an attack and several community members had vanished without a trace.

There was no time to mourn and no one to talk to when it came to no gut feeling that the love of their life may still be around. Andromeda’s family was all too happy to regain control of the daughter that got away. There was one condition when it came to being kept out of harm’s way. Andromeda would marry Laurent Burke - no questions asked, no complaints, and a pregnancy announced within a year of marriage. 

As much as Andromeda would have put up a fight on the matter, it wasn’t worth the risk of putting Nymphadora in harm’s way. There would be no forgiving themselves if the only source of happiness in their life got destroyed. That thought alone left Andromeda biting their tongue and agreeing to the terms. Keep Nymphadora safe and allow the rest to fall into place, finding room for rebellion once certain the purebloods weren’t planning to make an example out of their small family.

Severus Prince - Andromeda occasionally got potions from Severus, keeping to slight banter when speaking to them. Andromeda was already disowned when rumors of Severus being Abraxas’ child spread and it was nice to have the purebloods’ interest off of them for a little while. Being thrust back into the pureblood world has Andromeda realizing they and Severus may be more similar to each other than initially thought.

Edward Tonks - Losing Edward nearly cost Andromeda everything. Livelihood and a life spent content in a cottage by the coast came crashing down the moment Ted failed to return from running errands. An auror arrived at the door to deliver the news that Edward was presumed dead, but the gut feeling that Andromeda’s soulmate was gone forever didn’t accompany receiving that news.

Laurent Burke - Despises. In a last-ditch effort on the Black’s end of things, there is a betrothal in the works between Laurent and Andromeda. Strict expectations of producing a child within a year of the marriage have been made clear, with Andromeda having little choice but to accept fate. It’s that or risking losing Nymphadora - the only good thing left in Andromeda’s life.

Narcissa Malfoy - Trying to pull Narcissa back out of the clutches of Lucius and Bellatrix and back onto the good side. Andromeda is unaware that Narcissa pulls many of the strings behind the family’s involvement in the Dark Lord’s cause.

Heyy! I was wondering, can you help me out with some drarry recs? I read a few drarry fics YEARS ago and honestly don't remember them at all, and the past few years, I've only read marauders era fics. I want to explore drarry a bit, but in a lot of the fics i try out the pairing seems kinda illogical. Yk like the fic just pushes them together bc it's a drarry fic but it doesn't really make sense beyond that. Maybe I've just had bad luck. But that's why i wanted to ask whether you have any recs that could get me into the pairing again. I think i mostly want canonish stuff (no crazy AUs), and lengthwise im alright with whatever, but a longfic would be nice!!

so first off - thank you for thinking of me hahaha, but I'm not the best person to ask because I don't read a ton of Drarry! (I say that and it's my third most bookmarked ship, behind Wolfstar and Jily.) it's not a ship I'm particularly wild about either, for similarrrr reasons to you it sounds like (not a huge fan of postwar redemption arc and if I'm going to read that I usually would rather read lightning gen femslash, and most of the AUs tend to read sorta 'any two guys' to me), but I have read a bunch I enjoyed and I do have a couple faves:

As the third child of Cygnus and Druella Black, there was hope that Narcissa would be the heir they were desperately hoping for. Luck was not on their side, but that did not stop them from showing affection. Narcissa wasn’t necessarily loved in a traditional way and wanted for nothing. They learned to get exactly what they wanted from a young age, knowing they could easily wrap people around their little fingers. Lucius Malfoy was the one person that seemed immune to Narcissa’s whims. Not being one to take no for an answer pushed the two close to each other even though Lucius was betrothed to someone else. One kiss led to several more, so it wasn’t all that surprising when Walburga came across Narcissa and Lucius in a rather compromising position.

Their debauchery proved to work in the Blacks’ favor since they were trying to regain their footing after Andromeda ran away. The Malfoy-Black wedding was described as the wedding of the century with some questioning if it was an attempt to cover up an accidental pregnancy. They weren’t, and the now-married Malfoys are still very much in love.

Life has been good for Narcissa. They have been unscathed by the war so far and that is something they can appreciate for Lucius and themselves. Having never wanted to have to take a stance in regards to that front. Although they are not a death eater, Lucius has allowed them full control of each move the family makes for the Dark Lord. Most are unaware since Narcissa has perfected the role of dutiful spouse. Recently, Narcissa has become the designated babysitter for Nymphadora - a role they aren’t quite a fan of. It means keeping an extra eye on Andromeda though and that is the only plus Narcissa can see besides admitting the child has a brilliant sense of humor.

“Yes,” you answered Lucius´s question and looked at the sister of your wife. “How is Draco doing?” You asked Narcissa and she smiled, holding her glass of red wine.

“I think they are doing great. They are trying for a baby,” Narcissa informed you and you looked at Bellatrix who raised her eyebrows.

“You´re gonna be a grandma Cissy?” Bellatrix mocked her and you gently pinched her hand. “Ouch! What was that for?” She asked you, frowning like a little kid. You just shrugged, but warned her with her eyes to behave herself.

Bellatrix brushed the place on her hand where you hurt her and you looked into her face. She was pretending that she was hurt, but you knew that a pinch couldn’t hurt the woman who was standing by your side whatever happened.

“That was pretty rude of you. Narcissa is your sister,” you whispered to Bellatrix, trying not to be seen by Narcissa. When you looked at the only blonde woman who was in the room, you smiled because you knew that she had heard what you told her sister.

“I agree with Y/n,” Lucius said and looked into your lovers eyes.

“MAMA!”

As you heard that scream, your eyes widened. Immediately standing up, you looked at Narcissa, trying to apologize for that you are leaving, but your daughter had always been the one who had the first place on your list whatever happened.

You were pushed back to your seat by a pair of strong hands. It was Bellatrix, who really gently sat you back down and smiled at you.

“She said mama. She called for me,” Bellatrix infromed you and you looked at her with tears hiding in your eyes. Bellatrix just gave you a little smile before she turned around and walked out of the room where she had been sitting with the Malfoys.

Watching Bellatrix leaving from your sight, you couldn´t look away from the doors. When you heard another doors open, it was a sign for you Bellatrix entered the room with your daughter inside.

“Come on Y/n, she will take care of her,” Narcissa whispered to you and you looked at her, focusing on the sounds which weren´t coming.

“I really thought I wouldn´t say this, but she is safe with Bellatrix,” Lucius joined the conversation and you nodded to him. Not caring about what else they both said, you tried to figure out what could´ve happened what made your daughter call for Bellatrix and not you.

“I am sorry but-,” you stopped when you were cut off by a loud scream. Your eyes filled with horror and you looked at the blonde woman. She nodded to you with a little sigh and you jumped out of the seat.

Rushing straight to the room where your daughter was supposed to be, you quickly arrived to the doors. Opening them harshly, you leant inside of the room, when you could see the curly haired woman kneeling in front of you with her huge and muscular back tuned to you. Andromeda was standing opposite to her and you could see only her brown and curly messy hair like her mama had.

“Come here Andy,” Bellatrix called your daughter closer to herself and pulled something out of her pocket. You smiled as Andromeda walked carefully to her and sobbed. “Look what mama has,” she showed something to her daughter but you couldn´t see.

“M-mama- but mommy-”

“Don´t tell them baby. Not even to auntie Cissy or uncle Lucius hm?” She asked whispering and handed something to Andromeda.

A huge stone fell from your heart when you realized that your daughter is not hurt. Reaching your neck out, you tried to look at what Bellatrix was giving your daughter, but her shoulders didn´t let you.

A quiet sob left the pair of little and swollen lips. Bellatrix unwrapped something and hid the paper of the sweet in her pocket. She crawled closer to Andromeda and gave her the sweet, wiping her tears off.

“Bub why c´n´t I ´ell ´em?” Your daughter asked, what made you smile.

“Because auntie Cissy doesn´t share the idea of giving you sweets with me. And that would mean no more sweets,” Bellatrix answered Andromeda just when her deep brown eyes spotted you. You placed your hand to your mouth and smiled.

“That´s not true. Don´t believe mama,” you said and stepped closer, making Bellatrix turn to you.

“What are you doing here?” She asked you pretty harshly and you shrugged.

“Andy was crying and I tought it would be better to come and check on you two here,” you told them the truth and Andromeda chuckled quietly.

“So you don´t trust me about our daughter?” Bellatrix asked you with pure shock in her face and you stepped closer to the woman with crazy hair and mind.

“I trust you with my whole life,” you told her honestly and your eyes slid onto her boobs. You quickly looked up, meeting Bellatrix with raised eyebrows and you smiled innocently. “You just deal with problems on your own sometime,” you said honestly and kissed her onto the tip of her nose, making Bellatrix frown.

“Mama?” Andromeda asked quietly and you both looked at her.

“Yes angel?”

“Can I get another sweet?” She asked from Bellatrix with puppy eyes and with puffy cheeks.

“Andromeda I told you to not tell,” Bellatrix whispered to her as she lowered to Andromeda´s ear level and while she was giving her another sweet, she made an eye contact with you. Opening her mouth a little, you could reacognize a little “sorry” and you smiled even more.

“Fank you,” Andromeda whispered with full mouth of chocolate and then she looked up at you, trying to hide that she was eating something. You smiled at her, pretending you didn´t see, but the chocolate on her chin and corners of her mouth made you almost laugh.

“Can we return to aunt Cissy and uncle Lucius now?” You turned around, pretending that you didn´t see anyting. 

“Wait,” Andromeda said and she hurried to you, taking your hand. Something sticky landed on your palm and you looked down at your hands. It was chocolate.

Wide smile appeared on your face and you only shook your head a little. Looking back at Bellatrix, you waited for her to join both of you. When she did so, you were not sure about if she wanted to hold your hand or not, so you just continued in leading your daughter to the living room.

Regullar footsteps were a sign of that Bellatrix was still behind you. As soon as you reached the living room doors, you looked at your daughter and smiled.

“I don´t think aunt Cissy would like if you wipe your hands on her emerald green sofa,” you infromed Andromeda and heard a quiet chuckle. Andromeda froze in shock and looked behind you.

“Aunt Cissy!” Andromeda gasped and she hid behind your thigh. You laughed quietly and looked down at Andy.

“Why are you hiding?”

“She wouldn´t allow me more sweets if she knows,” Andromeda whispered and you laughed under your nose. Looking up at the blonde, you moved your eyebrows and Narcissa just nodded, understanding what was going on. Feeling Bellatrix approaching you, you let go of Andromeda´s hand.

Bellatrix lifted her and hid her on her chest. Turning her back to her own sister, Bellatrix walked away, straight into the living room.

You looked at Narcissa as she stepped away, allowing your two girls to enter the living room. As they walked in, you licked your thumb because there was chocolate on it, just when Narcissa looked at you.

“Is she okay now?” She asked as her eyes dropped onto your chocolate hand.

“Yes she is,” you nodded and licked another of your fingers. Narcissa just looked at you with raised eyebrows and you sticked out your fingers to her. “Want some?”

Narcissa shook her head and just smiled, turning away from you. You looked inside of the living room, where you found Andromeda sitting on Bellatrix´s lap. You breathed out and walked inside of the bathroom to wash your hands, because...

...aunt Cissy didn´t like chocolate at all.
