Wukong and Macaque will never get together again. Not mine.
I cannot see a feasible way for these two to ever rekindle what they used to have. There's too much hurt feelings on both sides, too much blame. They would only be ever able to be with other versions, but never each other. Wukong would end up pissing off Macaque and Macaque's barbs would dig deep. Deeper than anything another Macaque could achieve. Because he is...was Wukong's.
In the dms I have done and even just thinking little scenes, these two will always have a revolving cycle around their hate and the past they'll never be able to get back.
At most, they could grow to tolerate each other, maybe even become friends given a LONG while. Though there may be softer moments, sad moments, the cycle will always end up with them duking it out. They hate each other. They love each other. But the hate has been there for so long, and added onto what's going on with the parasite?
With the fact that it was Wukong's body it had used to get the infection in Macaque's chest?
"Haven't you had enough? Haven't you hurt me enough? Haven't we hurt each other enough?"
"You can't decide whether you hate me or love me."
It would be too toxic for them to try again for what they used to be. It's horrible to even have them in the same room. These two need space from each other. But Wukong is the one that keeps this cycle now, he follows after the other. He does care for him, but as of right now, he is not in the right mental state to even begin trying to fix what's been done. Macaque knows Wukong was just as much as a victim to the infection as he was, but he can't help but feel betrayed again. He can't help but blame the other for the fact that he had to take an immortal peach to survive even getting it out.
Macaque loves him, somewhere deep down, he always will. But it will never work out.
I can see the best thing that could come out of these two, the absolute best seneario? They become friends. They become close, like family. But they will never be mates again. But that's a long road ahead.
Because BOTH have their problems, it's not just Wukong. They both would judge the other for being with/or around other versions of themselves. "Went ahead and replaced me? Can't wait to hurt another version of me?"
"Why can't you just let it go? Why do I have to suffer more? I can't just keep throwing myself at you, hoping that something will work!"
Like, these two need SPACE from each other. Something they both have to decide together. Otherwise, they'll come crashing back into each other and man, it's never good. It can range from arguments to all-out brawls.

Something that absolutely destroys me about shadowpeach is just the fact that they weren't "good" to each other. They loved each other, sure, but sometimes love just isn't enough.
They are "right person wrong time." They helped each other unintentionally go into a self-destructive paths, and the worst part is that only Wukong managed to get out of it before it ruined him.
Its just so fucked up, imagine you love someone and they love you but they are undeniably going into a path with no return but they do change and they become better, but only after you're gone.
Yeah, I think shadowpeach is compelling and interesting for the layers of tragedy it has. I really do think they're the "right person, wrong time" type of dynamic. If they met each other later on, there wouldn't have been any major problems; just ones they could address as they come up.
But I think...it's a great showing of how people can change each other. A chance interaction can change a person for life. We, as people, are made up of those interactions, the pain, the hurt, the love, the joy we've been shown and what we've given to others.
Wukong and Macaque were doing what they felt was right. In the way they felt was right. And they didn't know how to address it or be better, because confronting the communication issues and lack of respect and value means admitting there's a problem, and neither of them wanted to do that.
I don't think Macaque wanted to, he just wanted to put up with it and stay on Wukong's good side. He disregarded his own hesitations and doubts and believed in this person wholeheartedly instead of making his own decisions and choosing to go against the grain. It's hard to say "no" to the Monkey King, admittedly, but Macaque, probably, felt as if he couldn't.
In s4, he subtly tried to remove himself from the uprising against Heaven, but Wukong dragged him back in on the premise that they're "bros" and it'll be a fun "whatever" kind of time and not a life or death situation. Macaque saw that truth; Wukong refused to.
And that's a lot of Wukong's whole story - thinking he's invincible, that he's above everyone, that he's the handsomest and strongest and best ever. he was entitled and didn't like being told no. Very haughty and spoiled. A brat. He had sense and was funny and showed kindness when he needed to, but he was selfish, also.
Against all that, Macaque's in an odd position. They're friends, but Macaque is quiet. He's subtle. A shadow. Introverted and observant, he probably never felt as if his voice mattered or would change anything. But getting the attention of the Monkey King is a high honor!
And Wukong just thought Macaque was cool, another strong guy with shadow magic that he could get into mischief with. Someone like him!!
It reminds me of a dynamic you see a lot in media. The adventurous main character paired with a more shy and scared secondary character. The main character drags them around unwillingly into situations, assuring the secondary character everything will be fine. And, eventually, it takes the secondary character standing up for themselves for a change to occur.
And that's what happened in that cave.
There is tragedy...in someone you love changing after you're no longer in their life. But...it's more important that they changed at all. A lot of people don't. It's difficult to change. And Wukong was traveling (and was trapped) in this journey with people, learning and humbling himself along the way, learning friendship and love. It took that specific environment and discipline to change him, because changing the Monkey King?? Is a huge task, something that Macaque by himself couldn't do.
And that's said around this fandom like it's a bad thing. I know Macaque would see it as one, because that's his character, but...I don't know. I don't see it as one. Maybe you're not what that person needs, not at that moment, not at that time. And that's..okay. I think that's something we gotta accept.
Because we can't fix everyone. We can't hold ourselves to that standard. Just as I said before, people are collections of their interactions with others, and maybe those other people...are what Wukong needed at that moment. Maybe Macaque wasn't at a point in his life, maturity wise or life experience wise, to direct Wukong on the path to change. Maybe that wasn't his burden to bear.
Sometimes it takes a specific person to say something. With how people weave in and out of each others lives, I think the takeaway should be more "I'm glad you changed. I'm proud of you. You did it!" Like, let's focus on the end result, because...if people change for the better, than they can help others change, and maybe Wukong is the right person at this right time to help Macaque change.

Having Macaque x Reader x Sun Wukong timeloop thoughts and I’m considering the idea of, reader got isekai’d time traveled back to JTTW times and went on the journey and died.
And Sun Wukong is real broken up about it but as time goes on he starts to see the future that reader always told him about take shape and he realizes that if there’s ever gonna be a time where he finds them again it’s gonna be soon.
And he finds them! At first he thinks it’s a reincarnation and he gets another chance except-
Except things are too similar. Everything is unfolding just as they always talked about. Their home life is the same, their friends are the same.
This isn’t a reincarnation. It’s them. The them before they got sent back.
And that means they’re going to die.
And he could stop it! He could be there this time-
But…but what would happen if he did? Would that change things? Would he forget about them if he did?
But then the moment comes and while he’s been dreading it this whole time he reacts without thinking to save them from the truck or the stairs or the mugger or whatever else kills them and he saves them. He was there. No matter what else he can’t live with them dying when he could’ve stopped it.
But now. Now he realizes, the them that he fell in love with no longer exists because of him.
And oops that means they never get sent back so he has no reason to be there at that specific time to save them meaning they die and get sent back and the whole thing starts all over again.
Little things might change, Wukong and reader might feel immediately drawn to eachother. But they don’t remember. Not directly. It’s more like a sense of deja vu.
Macaque meanwhile, initially really only wanted Reader because they’re just another thing that he can take from Wukong, the best trophy he could have.
So when he starts to hear things that are happening way farther out than what he’s normally capable of hearing of? It doesn’t take much to start piecing things together, he doesn’t know specifics, but like a quiet whisper on a wind he starts to pick things up. Suddenly reader becomes forefront of his mind because they indirectly have given him a second chance. He did enjoy their company…He still hates Wukong but he’s found something he wants more than Wukong’s life.
So all the while Wukong and Reader are piecing together what’s going on, because Macaque sure as shit isn’t going to tell them, Macaque is busy doing his own scheming trying to put a stop to it and that usually involves kidnapping Reader and keeping them as far away from anything even remotely dangerous as possible. Hell at one point he tried bypassing Wukong entirely by replacing him from the get go and going around Five phases mountain, he lasted pretty long but still got murked in the end, (likely by the Samadhi Fire.). Eventually he grits his teeth, and temporarily sets aside his differences with Wukong and joins them in the journey but makes it very clear from the get go that he’s only interested in keeping reader safe.
And oops wouldn’t you know it without the prerequisite of stealing Wukong’s identity and cannibalizing his family Wukong is pretty chill with Macaque. The memories come back slowly and by the time Wukong remembers all that Macaque has done to him over several lifetimes…it’s hard to reconcile that bastard in his memories with this edgy loner monkey that’s been traveling with them.
Macaque meanwhile really wants to avoid having that particular convo but at the same time, he’s also getting exactly what he wants out of this. He’s on the journey, by his own merits! He’s getting recognition for his own acts, be appreciated for who he is. Shit if he keeps up this good behavior he has a real shot at being a buddha.
But he still committed very very serious crimes. And honestly he doesn’t even feel that bad about them. Didn’t then, and in this time he hasn’t even committed them yet so is he really responsible for them?
It would take a major heart to heart to finally get the two of them to reconcile everything that’s happened with where they are at now.
Could take the form of the Macaque arc in the book instead this time it’s actually dark reflections of themselves given form. (Like how it is in other tellings)
Eventually the timeloop would end by getting reader to the end of the journey and achieving the not-dying immortality. Because no doubt Wukong and Macaque both tried to feed them any and all manner of immortality granting fruit.
#jttw#jttw reader#sun wukong x reader#macaque x reader#Making Macaque suffer in angsty ways is my favorite pastime#also Wukong never fully forgives Macaque for being a cannibal let’s make that clear#but like considering he doesn’t get the opportunity to do so by the time he joins it’s easier to reconcile I guess you could say?

I love all the ideas and your response has given me some more to chew on for this au ty. (I might have already sent this but I'm not sure it sent but if it did i am sorry for the double ask)
[Wukong spending the Journey getting hit by all the symptoms of pregnancy during those 9-14 years.] the morning sickness is def the worst for him.
[Many foes back off just by the tired firey glare in the King's eyes.] his presence alone is usually able to get most of them to back off, but for those who were still going to risk trying a tired "I am running on 2 hours of sleep, crippling isolation and lonliness, and I haven't been able to keep any food down for three days, I am not in the mood" glare is enough to sen them running for the hills.
[Wukong never managed to tell Macaque about the Egg in that lifetime.] this fact breaks Wukong's heart, and it breaks Macaque to when he later learns that was with child the whole time because having a peacful life and a family was all he really ever wanted.
[He's convinced that the Egg's presence at the Samadhi Fire was what caused the Rings to Split and hit Ao Lie.] I was thinking that during the Samadhi fire ritual the egg suddenly started "kicking" and despite his attempts to not let it affect his performance the pain is what causes him to slip, allowing the ring to split. he absolutely blames himself for this.
[By isolating himself, he accidentally causes his body to *turn down the heat* and extend the process even longer.] he's gonna be so mad when he finds out thats one of the reasons it took so long. but maybe it was for the better, with no support group it would have been difficult to raise the egg on his own. the egg was "no troop, these are not prime baby raising conditions, i stay here longer", like giving Wukong time to find a safe and loving situation to give birth in.
[he geniunely believed that keeping MK whilst the Stone Egg was still draining life force could kill the cub. So SWK is forced to give the little toddler up to save his life.] again, as unfortunate as it is, perhaps for the better. even if not being adressed for the right reasons at the time Wukong knew he wasn't in the position to be caring for someone so young at that point, and the fact he took measures to ensure that MK still got a stable and loving home to grow up in says a lot about how even if he couldn't provide for MK he already loved him. the lack of being in the right headspace to care for an infant is also probably another reason for the egg to "turn down the heat", not able to be mentally there for child, child says in womb till he can.
[When him and MK finally reunite, its a little awkward but MK immediately understands the reason for the Monkey King's retirement.] does MK remember Monkey King, or is it a "I just met an actual god/my fav hero of legend and their pregnant" kind of awkward?
[MK, thinking its a bad breakup situation: "oh ok. I guess you're owed some long-overdue paternity leave, huh?"] this is funny if you remember the fact that this likely wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Wukong and Macaque actually having a bad break up, causing Macaque to leave and Wukong to lose the one thing keeping his body from triggering the egg making process. in a way, it is a bad break-up situation, just not exactly in the way MK thinks.
[MK only asks about the schematics on the Egg after Wukong makes a comment about being "like this longer than even Lao Tzu's mother".] Wukong def brags that he's had the longest pregnancy out of any immortal now.
[He returns to Pigsy's that evening silent with a horrifed look on his face.] the rest of the gang notice, they ask, MK explains what Wukong told him, and now everyone is silently horrified for the rest of the night.
[The Spider Queen can sense that theres a new life within the King, but she decides its an issue for after the takeover.] Wukong is kinda surprised when she doesn't instantly try and use it against him, she just responds that she still has some honor. this does not stop her from draining his power though. Wukong's far more concerned about a certain other demoness present learning about his egg...
[DBK frees himself, not only from the fear of losing his wife and his son, but also out of fury that Wukong had been hiding his condition for so long!!] he is not happy to learn that Wukong put his egg at risk with Samadhi fire situation and by fighting him, or that Wukong had hidden it at all from him as his sworn brother. and also with the webs draining Wukong's power it was putting the little one at risk, can't let that happen either, not if he has something to say about. DBK def learns about it because he overhears the deeply concerning conversation between SWK and LBD while their tied up, him being tied up close to Wukong and all.
[PIF demands a proper baby shower when she hears about it from her excited husband later.] PIF sitting at the dinner table, reading a book and eating while she waits for her husband and son to come home: why do I hear loud footsteps getting rapidly closer? DBK busting open the dining room door with Red Son tucked under his arm: DARLING WE'RE GONNA BE GODPARENTS!!!! PIF & Red Son: WHAT? cue a very excited bull king explaining everything to them
[but becomes concerned when his Sun refuses to fight in any way that leaves his stomach exposed.] protecting a specific part of the body usually means there's a vulnerability there, but Wukong didn't fight like he was injured, Macaque knows what that looks like and that wasn't it so now he's confused. the only other kind of vulnrability he could think of invovling one's stomach that would make them seem bloated as well as make them want to get away from the fight as fast as possible is if he was pregnant, but that can't be the case here can it?
["The Shadow Play" becomes more a plan to trap the Monkie Kid gang for answers. MK spills the beans. Macaque stares blankly for a minute before yelling in frustration. It's too much emotional baggage to process right now!] he lays awake for nights on end trying to figure out if its really what he thinks it is with the little evidence he has, and then he just can't take it anymore and sets up the play. trapping the gang in his lantern and threatening MK until he spills, MK does and even though an answer is what he wanted it takes a moment to process that he had been right, then he lashes out when more questions came to mind. how? when? for how long? who's the other parent? MK frees his friends while Macaque is lashing out and they make a break for it, they escape before Macaque can threaten more answers out of them.
[now with the additional threat that she will harm the Stone Egg if Macaque fails her again...] Macaque might not have answers about the egg, but it's still Wukong's egg at the end of the day. sure just the other day he'd been totally fine with the idea of killing the guy but now... was there still hope he could have the life he wanted with his Sun? even if he couldn't he could never bring himself to knowingly harm his former lover's unborn infant. Wukong ofc doesn't know this at first, and gets really worried about Mac getting involved. he doesn't want to have to choose between him and his egg ever again, but he will if he has to. the problem is avoided entirely when (much to SWK's surprise/confusion) Macaque straight up acts like doesn't exist while hunting the gang in s3. for this subtle blessing SWK is relieved and grateful.
[Macaque breaks the King from his possession by casually placing a curious hand on his swollen stomach, smiling in a way Wukong hadn't seen in centuries. "I know," is all that is said as the two monkeys allow their foreheads to touch.] it's such a simple thing, but it's a certain type of soft kindness he hasn't felt in years, that he missed very deeply, the domesticity of it, makes him feel like his moon really is his again. he bursts out crying and almost sends them both to the ground when he collapses into Macaque for a hug.
[LBD is unexpectedly destroyed by the Stone Egg itself. She did not count upon the Egg recognising her as a yummy source of spirtual energy as she was possessing it's parent.] egg was hungry, and SWK was feeling drained after being possessed, LBD was right their and strong and had hurt the egg's parent. so LBD gets nommed on. naturally.
[MK is a little disturbed, but glad that the demoness is gone-gone.] the can't see it happen, but they all feel an absurdly powerful force emanating from SWK suddenly tearing apart and absorbing LBD's soul. everyone's a little shook up by that one. Macaque: did- did the egg just- SWK frozen on spot, with a nervous and tight expression: *exasperated inhale* yeah... everyone else: oh gods there was also a little concern that eating LBD whole soul would have consequences.
[Until the newly unpossessed Monkey King doubles over in pain and cries for the Bodhisattva to help him. Guanyin is on the scene in seconds, glaring at her little brother angrily. Half the gang stare jaws dropped at what is happening while the rest are panicking.] everyone was chilling, settling down and gtting some food after everything, SWK was feeling the most content and happy he had in ages as he refused to anywhere other then glued to Macaque's side, and the egg was like, "I just got a massive meal, and the whole troop is here now, guess it's time to come out now". Wukong surprisingly casually sits up and tells Ne Zha to go get Guanyin, NOW, being the patron god of infants, he quickly realizes whats going on and bolts for the south sea, the others clue in and start freaking out at this point too. Gaunyin is not happy at SWK for putting himself and the egg at risk with both the Samadhi fire (again, they also tried to warn him off it the first time) and with fighting LBD alone, but thats a conversation for after the egg is born, hatched, and healthy. Tang's fanboying over meeting the Guanyin is stifled only by the painc of egg on the way.
[After many hours of painful labor with Macaque clutching his hand for support, Wukong *finally* greets his baby for the first time.] Wukong is def squeezing so hard at one point that Macaque thinks his hand is either gonna break or pop off, it doesn't do either, but it is numb by the end of it. Macaque gladly would do it again if it meant getting to be there when the egg was born and hatched. Wukong def jokingly tells his newborn that she "sure kept them all waiting".
[Her dark fur is hard to ignore. As well as the ice-blue eyes that stare between the two monkeys with wonder. And the little excited chirps she makes that sing the tune of Wukong's favorite songs.] the ice blue eyes are from the last minute bone demon meal ofc, but what if the dark fur actually comes from Wukong's longing to be with macaque as a family again, and those feelings during early pregnancy were so strong it changed the infant's appearence in order to fit not just Wukong but his desires/emotional needs (that being having the family Macaque always wanted with him). Macaque def cries when she has dark fur like him, makes him feel more like he's possibly a bio parent. Wukong is def in love with everything about his little one, down to every little sound she makes. I like to think he would talk to the egg whenever he was alone while pregnant, and was also always humming to them, maybe the infant somehow knows some of those tunes he was humming and tries to mimic them fresh out of the egg.
[Yuebei Xing is celebrated across the many Realms as the first Stone Monkey to be born from a Stone Egg in milennia. Gold Star comes down from Heaven in person to bless her arrival.] they jokingly thank Gold Star for being too busy to oversee Wukong's punishment, because if he had Wukong likely wouldn't be holding the most precious ball of fur in his arms right now.
[singeing Azure Lion's fur as he goes to take the Jade Emperor's throne. All present, including members of the Brotherhood, laugh at the coincidence.] it's hard not to laugh, given the coincidence. the only one not laughing is Azure, who just saw his life flash before his eyes.
[Yuebei's whole family are willing to *destroy* the divine animals if even dare touch a single hair on her little head.] knowing Azure, he's either fantasizing about Yuebei being Wukong and his infant, or plotting how to use her for blackmail. or both. either way Wukong's none too happy to learn who's got their hands on his little one.
[The retrieve Yuebei after they enter the palace and see the three usurpers beaten to a pulp. The infant monkey rolling around on her butt as she giggles. Azure begs the crew to "please take her back".] Azure was perhaps a little too lost in his triumph and day-dreaming to notice the ultra powerful infant he was holding beginning to grow restless and playful, one of his many mistakes. especially seeing as she had little to no strength control at such a young age.
All in reference to the core "slow boiled stone egg au" post.
You did send a less detailed version of this ask a few days ago, I just hadn't gone through my inbox enough XD
I love the detailed responses though! It's nice to see so much interest in my silly aus!
[the morning sickness is def the worst for him.]
Based on my previous ironic pregnancy headcanons, Wukong occasionally gains a food adversion to his fave fruit ever; Peaches. Some days his brain/body just decides "Eww no. bleh. Spit it out right now" and the nausea hits him hard. Wukong is dismayed whenever it happens.
["I am running on 2 hours of sleep, crippling isolation and lonliness, and I haven't been able to keep any food down for three days, I am not in the mood" glare is enough to sen them running for the hills.]
[-this fact breaks Wukong's heart, and it breaks Macaque to when he later learns that was with child the whole time because having a peacful life and a family was all he really ever wanted.]
[the egg was "no troop, these are not prime baby raising conditions, i stay here longer"] + [the lack of being in the right headspace to care for an infant is also probably another reason for the egg to "turn down the heat", not able to be mentally there for child, child says in womb till he can.]
Pretty much yeah!
Stone Monkeys only have this backup for the absolute last resort when things are at their worst enviroment-wise. No mate, no troop, no support system, no mental health = Egg ain't moving. Think of it like the formation of a geode - it can do it either over a natural couple of centuries, or in a few months with intervention.
"Asleep" Stone Monkeys who are still buried know that they're unlikely to ever be recovered, but their egg can still be found by other troops and hatch in response to socialization even thousands of years on.
However, "Awake" Stone Monkeys with an Egg cooking need to have an active support system in place for the baby's development to progress faster/less riskily. By shuting out the outside world, all Wukong did was accidentally set the Egg to "sleep mode".
Sadly, even if Wukong was wrong and his body identified baby!MK harmlessly as a troop member - SWK simply wasn't in the mental headroom to raise a whole baby without someone to help him.
[does MK remember Monkey King, or is it a "I just met an actual god/my fav hero of legend and their pregnant" kind of awkward?]
The second one mostly. MK honestly can't remember his earliest memories beyond the sight of SWK's egg fragment + possibly Nuwa, and thats with supernatural help.
In a slightly sad note, it's possible MK *remembers* being held by someone soft with a round belly + gold eyes. He assumes throughout his life that this person was his birth mother before he was given up/orphaned.
[this likely wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Wukong and Macaque actually having a bad break up]
MK is right in his own way XD
[Wukong def brags that he's had the longest pregnancy out of any immortal now.]
Wukong's been carrying the egg since the Journey days, about the Tang Dynasty (690-907 AD)/irl Xuanzang's departure in 629. So that Stone Egg been slow boiling from anywhere between 1394 to 1116 years. 0_o
Either way SWK has beaten Lao Tzu/Zi's mom (pregnant for 62-80 years), and def brags about that fact to whatever immortal will hear.
[DBK def learns about it because he overhears the deeply concerning conversation between SWK and LBD while their tied up, him being tied up close to Wukong and all.]
DBK overhears LBD making threatening references to Wukong's conditon and immediately interrupts her villainy bs to yell at his sworn brother.
(inside the giant Spider Mech) LBD: "All will fall into place soon. Even with the unexpected additon of your... future heir." *guestures hand around SWK's stomach* DBK, furious ans still wrapped in web: "WHAT!?!? HEIR?! SUN WUKONG!! Are you so reckless that you'd fight even when your unborn child could have been harmed!?" Wukong, wrapped in less-tight web: "Not the best time DBK. I can handle it." LBD: "Quite. Then again it is all in char-" DBKm interrupting: "REALLY BROTHER?! YOU DIDN'T TRUST ME TO KNOW!? If I was aware of your condition - I would have never dared to invoke your anger! Even my beautifully ruthless wife would agree with me!" LBD: *glares at DBK in annoyance* "Ahem." Wukong, ignoring her: "I couldn't let you guys know! Look, I've been fine on own for centuries now!" LBD: "Exc-" DBK, super-concerned: "CENTURIES!?! WERE YOU WITH CHILD DURING THE RITUAL!?!" *DBK busts out of his bindings and gently grabs SWK* DBK: "LADY GUANYIN WILL TAN BOTH OUR HIDES WHEN SHE HEARS ABOUT THIS!" LBD: *gives up and leaves*
[DBK busting open the dining room door with Red Son tucked under his arm: DARLING WE'RE GONNA BE GODPARENTS!!!!]
After the initial shock wears off, PIF immediately summons a catalog to look for baby shower supplies. This is a monumentous occassion! She ofc assumes it's Macaque's fault (she's not wrong XD) and that this might be her future sworn niece/nephew! She simply must organise everything for her idiot sworn brother and his mate!
Red blinks in confusion before confronting the Monkie Kid gang about it later. Mei demands PIF's contact details right that second so that they can swap party ideas.
[even though an answer is what he wanted it takes a moment to process that he had been right, then he lashes out when more questions came to mind. how? when? for how long? who's the other parent?]
Even with knowing how Stone Eggs works, Macaque has such a mental 404 error at the news that he's reduced to yelling garbbled questions at the gang until they leave awkwardly.
[...was there still hope he could have the life he wanted with his Sun?]
Macaque spends most of S3 trying to bat away any thoughts/predictive sounds of a happy domestic life him and Wukong cna have together.
[it's such a simple thing, but it's a certain type of soft kindness he hasn't felt in years, that he missed very deeply, the domesticity of it, makes him feel like his moon really is his again. he bursts out crying and almost sends them both to the ground when he collapses into Macaque for a hug.]
I just love this image. The possession being broken by Macaque expressing softness, his vunerability, to Wukong. And the possessed King snapping out of it since he's so conflcitingly overwhelmed by the joy of having his Moon back again + the weakness he feels.
[egg was hungry, and SWK was feeling drained after being possessed, LBD was right their and strong and had hurt the egg's parent. so LBD gets nommed on. naturally.] + [the can't see it happen, but they all feel an absurdly powerful force emanating from SWK suddenly tearing apart and absorbing LBD's soul. everyone's a little shook up by that one.]
Yuebei's first immortal kill is in fact LBD, preformed before she was even born. Once the switch "flipped" on the possesed SWK, the Egg recognised LBD as both a threat to her parent and a tasty source of Dao, hence; nom-nom-nom.
All thats left behind of the ancient bone demon is a picked-clean skull. The Ten Kings and Yama feel this hungry act from beyond the Realms and wonder *what* creature could have created such a great power vacuum.
[the egg was like, "I just got a massive meal, and the whole troop is here now, guess it's time to come out now".]
Ah, a fellow party crasher, just like her baba. Wukong and Macaque can barely enjoy the bowl of noodles they've stolen (in good humor) from MK when Wukong's face just drops from a shift in his body.
[Tang's fanboying over meeting the Guanyin is stifled only by the painc of egg on the way.]
Tang: "Oh gracious Buddha! The bodhisattva Guanyi herse-- oh gosh this is a lot grosser than I was expecting..." *gets woozy and hides face in Pigsy's chest*
[but what if the dark fur actually comes from Wukong's longing to be with macaque as a family again] + [Macaque def cries when she has dark fur like him, makes him feel more like he's possibly a bio parent]
Oooo! Wukong's emotional need to be reunited with his mate was so great that it impressed upon the Stone Egg itself.
Imagine how much crying would be involved if little Yuebei just so happened to be born six-eared as well? Macaque and Wukong would never stop sobbing over how cute their baby is!!
Macaque is still very much assumed by the demonic/celestial/mortal public not in the know of Stone Eggs, to be Yuebei's other bio parent. Hard to refute their claims when the little Monkey Princess has such lovely midnight-dark fur and glowing ears.
[I like to think he would talk to the egg whenever he was alone while pregnant, and was also always humming to them, maybe the infant somehow knows some of those tunes he was humming and tries to mimic them fresh out of the egg.]
Thats so super adorable I love it! <3
Wukong loved talking to the Egg when he was on his own on the island. He'd talk to it about what his old Pilgrim brothers were like, what happened in Heaven, his early days on the mountain, and how much he wishes to be there to see all the little havoc's she'll cause in the future. He def recorded a tape + wrote letters to Yuebei before she was born ala "For Steven" in Steven Universe... just in case his immortality didn't work in the end.
Babies can hear things going on on the outside irl as early as 14 weeks along - it's how they become acclimated to the voices of their family. Little Yuebei spent so much time in the "final run" hearing show tunes, action movies, and the voices of Wukong's new found family/troop that she thinks theses are all "good noises"!
As Yuebei looks around at her "troop" she tries matching a "good sound" to them. Everyone is just aww-ing at her tiny chirping mimicry, and burst out laughing when she gets to Pigsy and makes a deep sound they swear sounds like "freeloader!".
Her pre-natal eavessdropping does however, lead her to fall asleep to the heavy metal soundtrack of the Monkey Cop series. XD
[Azure was perhaps a little too lost in his triumph and day-dreaming to notice the ultra powerful infant he was holding beginning to grow restless and playful, one of his many mistakes. especially seeing as she had little to no strength control at such a young age.]
Yuebei decided that "Kitty" wasn't playing with her, wasn't holding her right, and wasn't even singing to her! And she wanted to make her frustrations known.
I love these mass responses, even if it takes some time for me to reply. Ty so much for your interest!

Yandere Macaque Headcanon
Warning : weak blood, hints of forced feeding, hint of isolation, delusion (from the side of the Macaque).
Macaque was soft by nature. Only a few people knew about it. Wukong and the brotherhood, for which Peng often mocked him, and the others just shrugged their shoulders and told him to be careful.
Macaques knew without them. It was not for nothing that, even before his acquaintance with Wukong, he built a cold, stone wall around himself. He was wounded more than once when he was worried about others. Even after getting to know Wukong and the brotherhood, he did it. Because of what he had to hide the wounds from the monkey, because he did not want to bother him when there was a rebellion against the Heavens on the nose.
But he knew they would lose. It's been a long time. He tried to warn them, to protect them, but they didn't listen to him. No, not all of them. Yellow Tusk and Azure would definitely have taken his words into consideration.
Macaque was as hurt as they were that Wukong betrayed them. But he knew why he did it. He was angry at his own impotence that he could do nothing to save Wukong. Every time he touched the seal, it burned him with the strongest flame. Therefore, he reluctantly decided that he would try to ease Wukong's imprisonment.
One single time was enough to break his heart. Angry words of Wukong, refusal of food, refusal of his help.
It was worse than all the wounds he had received before. Worse than Peng carefree bullying.
It was so painful.
Macaque was not hot-tempered and emotional like Wukong. But... He just ran away, before shouting out what he regretted for another 500 years and threw out a peach — a symbol of their friendship. Their affectionway
He was always close to the brotherhood of that time. Keeping an eye on them from the shadows. He felt safer that way.
However, he heard rumors about the release of Wukong and his capture by a monk. The macaque then barely plucked up the courage to talk to him. He hoped to apologize and restore what had been destroyed, but... Everything didn't go according to plan. He was beaten to death, smearing his head into a bloody mess.
He was crying. Shouted. He resisted, but Wukong did not stop. His heart stopped only after he left, staggering, to his monk
After his resurrection, he could not come to his senses. It was so painful and fresh in his memory. The macaque was able to change this fear into hatred for this monkey, which did not listen to him in the past and did as he wanted.
He hated him.
But at the same time his heart ached with longing and sadness, and tears welled up in his eye.
That is why he will do everything so that his starlight or sunshine does not go down this path. So as not to become as cruel and cold-blooded as Wukong.
He will protect them, even if he has to keep them in the Realm of Shadows. But this is an extreme case. He's not so cruel as to imprison them there for mistakes, right?
Right?
Everything was for their good. The macaque takes care of them. Does not bind. Feeds good food. Spends time with them.
So what else do they need?.

Heart behind the lie # 50 : escaping Diyu
Mac wakes up!
Macaque was plunged in a thick darkness. Everything around him was tainted by black, so much that he couldn't even see his own hands and arms. He was floating endlessly. Drifting in somber waters without any goals. Sometimes, he felt a familiar warmth spread in his chest. A soft fire that flowed in his veins, burning the stiffness that crawled in his skin. It felt good. It reminded him of sunshine and peaches. The warrior almost didn't want to wake up. Here, everything was fine. He didn't have to worry about his decaying body. He didn't have to chase after remanants of his own soul. He didn't have to face the consequences of his past actions. Not the shadow cast in gold-melted eyes because of his own jealousy. Not the shattered reflection of his young self craving any sense of recognition. Not the bruises on an innocent flesh left by his own claws.
It was so hard to heal. Nobody ever told him how painful it could be to let an old rotten wound heal. It was another kind of hell altogether. Trapped in-between the excruciating pain of digging in his old wounds with a knife and the sweet taste of honey each time his efforts paid off. He felt like a dog beaten and lured. He whined each time he was hit by the rode but yet he kept going on because he knew he would receive a treat at the end of it. He would receive a gentle laugh falling out of sun-kissed lips, a spark dancing in old eyes, a pat on the shoulders from enemies turned friends. And most of all, he would feel lighter at night. It didn't happen every night. Sometimes the old waning hatred clutched at his heart like a beast reluctant to leave its cage, but it wasn't systematic. Sometimes he would fall asleep with a heart full of love, and that was the sweetest of feelings.
No, he couldn't stay here.
They were people waiting for him on the other side of this darkness. Old and new friends, tentative bonds waiting to bloom. Most of all, he didn't want to disappoint himself. No matter if he was weak and battered, no matter if his honor was tarnished forever, he was a warrior, and a warrior didn't flee.
Macaque pushed the darkness away, trying to leave this sweet dream-like world where nothing ever happened.
He emerged in the real world with a painful throb in his chest. The black-furred monkey coughed, almost as if he just left a deep ocean. He clutched the sheets under him and blinked, his eyebrows furrowed, sweat gliding on his forehead. His vision was blurry for a bit. Forms and shapes mingled together to create a confusing painting. He heard something purring near him, but he couldn't distinguish the sound clearly. After a few minutes, Macaque was able to see more clearly. He was on the airship, in the room he shared with Wukong.
The warrior was a lil confused about this. The last thing he remembered was fighting the not-mayor to save-... Sock! Macaque sat up and winced, the sharp movement was not welcomed by his sore body. The black-furred monkey looked down and realized he was half-naked and covered in bandages.
“Sock.” His voice was rough, it fell out of his mouth like an uncouth stone and rolled in the room. His six-ears perked up the second he heard a meow near him. Sock was sitting at the edge of his bed. She was curled like a loaf, with no members peeking out of her russet fur, she was purring happily. She looked at him and slowly blinked, Macaque felt a great weight fall out of his shoulders. The warrior was about to lean over the cat but he was cut by tumbling devils. Mo and Wukong tumbled in the room, play-fighting each other.
Wukong pawed at the blue-furred cat and chirped in joy. He stopped in his tracks when he caught sight of Macaque. Mo jumped out of Wukong and licked his ruffled fur, straightening it. The great sage tail began to wag, it wagged so hard it almost broke the ship's floor. Wukong jumped on the bed (disturbing Sock who meowed in indignation) and crawled all over Macaque.
“Okay, easy, easy.” Huffed Macaque as he was smothered in chips and nuzzles. He was almost drowning in golden fur. Wukong's snout was wet and smelled of peaches. He probably ate recently. Macaque patted Wukong’s head and pushed him a lil, he was greeted by a joyful face and a disturbing lack of glamor. Macaque eyes swept over Wukong ruby-red eyes and the hint of a scar hidden beneath golden strands on his forehead. If Macaque raised his fingers and brushed some of his fur away, he could see a fleshly-red crown circling the sage's head. Macaque was familiar with this…Wukong was in his feral state again.
The warrior grabbed Wukong's face and inspected him. Contrary to the last time Wukong was in a feral state, more glamors were down. The warrior eyes swept over the wrinkles ornating the sun-kissed face, they looked like the waves caressing the shore, some freckles were scattered on the monkey's nose and cheeks. It's been so long since he saw them. The warrior traced them with the tip of his fingers, tracing constellations in-between the dots. Macaque then retracted his hands, almost as if burned, and coughed awkwardly.
“Alright big guy, you're crushing me.” Macaque tried to weasel out of the great sage, in vain. He couldn't escape this stone monkey! As he was lamenting his fate, Sock got up and pushed Wukong away with her paw. The great sage looked reluctant at first but he quickly scrammed once he crossed eyes with Sock narrowed gaze. Macaque sighed in relief and scratched the top of Sock's head in thanks. The warrior sat up at the edge of his bed and took a deep breath. He snorted once he noticed a poorly made nest in a corner of the room. Blankets were haphazardly thrown together to form something ressembling a bed. His scarf was in the middle of the nest, hanging like a lazy snake in the midst of sheets and pillows. Macaque was relieved to see his scarf, he had wondered where it had been. Wukong noticed his gaze and immediately ran towards the nest, he carefully took the scarf and scrambled to Macaque eagerly, handing him the red cloth. Macaque smiled, he ruffled Wukong's hair and took the scarf. It was perhaps weird to wear his scarf when he didn't have any shirt but who cared about fashion? He already looked like a dug-out mummy. Macaque put the scarf on his neck and relished on the familiar scent. His nose scrunched when he noticed how much the cloth stinked of Wukong, but he dealt with it. It was a familiar smell after all. Macaque was embarrassed to notice that all his glamors were down. He hid his extra ears within his scarf and tried to apply some on his scarred eye, but his magic fizzled out and sparked like a fire, he couldn't use it properly. Macaque was a bit distressed by that. He didn't want to go out with his bruised face. The warrior flinched once he crossed eyes with Wukong. The monkey's eyes were so soft, so… kind. It soothed his fretting heart.
It was fine… It would be fine… Macaque took one of his bandages and hid his scarred eye with it. Tying it across his face. He wasn't ready to show his scars to the others. It was a sore subject. Even if he wanted to heal he knew he would break down if the other saw this bruised side of him. This scar wasn't like the other. It was a wound of hatred, of blood and growls, a mark of shame. He didn't want to show it off. On the contrary he wanted to hide it until he forgot it existed. He knew that perhaps it wasn't healthy. But as Sandy often said, he had to deal with those matters slowly.
One step at a time.
Once he was ready Macaque rose with some difficulty. His legs were sore and stiff, unable to hold his weight. Macaque stumbled forward but before he could kiss the floor he was grabbed by Wukong. The golden-furred monkey helped him straighten and stood by his side. Macaque put one hand on the sage’s head and put some of his weight on him.
They slowly stumbled out of the room. Wukong grabbed Mo and Sock before leaving and put them on his back. Both cats seemed rather unbothered by the action, perhaps used to it. They settled on his back and curled comfortably.
Macaque felt a bit better once they were out on the docks. He looked up and frowned once he saw the dark sun of the Diyu. Oh, so they were still in this place. The warrior wondered what happened. Were they able to defeat the rebels? What about the liu'si? What about Yama? The black-furred monkey noticed Red Son tracing a teleportation circle on the docks and concluded that they were about to leave.
“Macaque!” The warrior turned towards the cheerful shout, he saw MK run towards him, Mei on his tracks. “You woke up! You're alright? How do you feel?”
“I'm okay. Feel a bit weak but that's alright.”
“I see your puppy is already attached to your hip.” Snorted Mei as she nodded towards Wukong, Macaque rolled his eyes fondly. “Man, we have so much to tell you emo monkey. But first let's get out of this creepy place.” As she said this, Sandy climbed the ship and shouted :
“I refilled the ship! We can go.” The tea-lover froze slightly when he noticed Macaque and said : “Glad to have you back, Mister Maquack”. Macaque smiled at him in response.
“Yes! Let's leave this place!” Shouted Tang as he stumbled on the docks. “Macaque you woke up!” The scholar was grabbed by the collar before he could rush towards the monkey.
“Don't jump on him, he's still recovering.” Huffed Pigsy, he then looked at the monkey and nodded, the monkey nodded back with a lil smile.
Red Son rose and dusted himself off. “I finished the circle!” He warned, Sandy nodded and went behind the wheel. The whole team clutched the railing to be more steady. Wukong clawed at Macaque hip and glued himself to his side. Both cats jumped out of his back and went inside, bothered by the ship shaking. The engines roared to life and the ship left the Diyu's floor, but before Red Son could activate the circle, a laser-shot grazed their ship.
They all flinched in surprise and looked behind them. A black airship was standing behind them. If one looked closely, one could see the hint of a hidden Yama's flag on the ship's flanks. This wasn't King Yama's official ship… probably just one of the Ten King's.
“I knew those sketchy Kings wouldn't let us leave easily!”Grumbled Pigsy as he glared at the ship.
“But Yama said we could leave!” Fretted Tang.
“This isn't probably an order issued by Yama himself but more of an initiative coming from one of the Ten Kings.” Explained Red Son.
“Held on!” Warned MK. Sandy steered the ship away, making loops in the air to avoid the lasers-shot. Macaque felt his head throb in pain, the loops weren't making him feel better. He almost slipped and let go of the railing but Wukong curled around him and pushed him on the ship, making sure he couldn't be flown out.
“I can't activate the circle if the ship isn't stable.” Cursed Red Son. Mei unsheathed her sword and tried to launch her spirit dragon at the black ship, but with her unsteady footing the dragon missed its target.
The black shit shot again, one of the laser-shit hits the flank of the ship. Macaque stumbled and hit his head on the railing. He winced and gritted his teeth. Wukong chirped in nervousness. He checked Macaque over and then growled at the black ship, fangs glinting under the dark sun.
“Easy, Wukong-” But Macaque didn't have time to finish, the great sage eyes burned like an incendium and two laser beams shot out of his pupils. The lasers hit the black ship right at the front.
“Now, Sandy!” Shouted Pigsy. The tea-lover used the short lapse of time where the black ship was recovering from Wukong's shot to fly in a straight line. Red Son jumped on the circle. Mei grabbed his waist and planted her sword on the floor to make him steady.
The fiery boy took a deep breath and poured his magic in the circle. The circle lightened up in red, flames emerged on the docks. Sandy accelerated and they passed through the transportation circles. Macaque gripped the railing tightly, the sage pressed against him, almost hiding him.
The black ship shot one last time and one of their engines was hit. The ship stumbled out in an unknown location and they crashed inside of a chasm. They were all stunned by the crash but nobody was hurt.
Macaque let go of the railing and looked up. The chasm was quite deep, the sunlight fell in the hole like golden curtains, a waterfall was rumbling not far from them. Their ship wasn't completely broken but it would take a certain amount of time for it to be good as new.
“We're finally out of the Diyu!” Cheered Mei, MK high-fived her in glee. Macaque smiled at this scene. Yes. They were out of this dreaded place. The warrior fell on the floor and laughed, realizing he wouldn't have to feel so oppressed and scared all the time anymore. He felt like the weight of the world disappeared from his shoulders. He did it. He went into the Diyu and he got out.
He did it!!
Macaque looked down at Wukong and, pushed by his bubbling glee, kissed his forehead. The great sage blushed and chirped in delight. He jumped on Macaque and drowned him in snuggles. The warrior laughed and tried to calm the monkey with head pats.
“Oh, fuck it.” Thought Macaque, he let go of his embarrassment and hugged Wukong tightly.
He did it!

Hiya!! Could I perhaps request a oneshot of dark parent/older sibling Xiangliu with MK? Like maybe the demon has his own twisted sense of “protecting” MK? (I’m new to this acc and I don’t know if this is within your comfort zone of writing so I’m sorry if it isn’t!!)
Constricting Support (Weird Uncle! Xiangliu and MK)
Another cycle failed, but Xiangliu finally found his ticket out of this dreaded prison, a young mortal named MK. Xiangliu was truly fond of MK--moreso, filled with pity at the thought of the harbinger
Every cycle so far, he would emerge, guided by nothing more than his sole duty to die at the hands of his creator. So, this cycle, Xiangliu would try to lead him away, to show him the wonder of life that he wouldn't get to experience afterwards
MK was filled with childish wonder, admiring humanity and the way people smiled and greeted each other. Though, his thoughts would always stray too far--he wanted to save these people. Xiangliu tried to convince the stone monkey out of it, but MK was stubborn--just like his former partners
MK wasn't going to let these people die, he'd rather his life mean something in the end than to let those poor mortals suffer a terrifying fate. It was something so bizarre, that the snake demon had to pause in wonder of how such a being could be made with an annoying lack of self-preservation. It was nonsense to him! To willingly be a pawn in someone's game? To happily accept the strings that binded his fate?
No, no, Xiangliu wasn't going to accept this. The pillar would fall whether MK liked it or not.
It was good that MK lacked any other figure to be with. Xiangliu was the only one MK trusted in the end, and the serpent used that to his advantage. He trapped MK in a world of peace, in a false reality where people greeted him with those strange smiles and how they cheered his name for his compassion. MK's body laid in an eternal slumber as time would pass forward, eons ticking away to years to days. Eventually, the time had come: the day of reckoning, the renewal of the cycle.
Wukong wasn't on good terms with Xiangliu, and Macaque wasn't heard from after the Lady Bone Demon. Like clockwork, the monkey scrambled through the earth, finding stones--somehow this cycle worked with Wukong, allowing him to overcome Nezha to capture the Jade Emperor's power-- and lacking just one piece of the puzzle. The serpent demon watched sadly as his former friend was rejected by the pillar, the stones clinking to the ground.
"It won't work with you, Wukong." Xiangliu sighed, offering a comforting hand despite the hate-filled snarl on the sage's face.
"I won't let everything end here." Wukong growled, picking up the stones one by one. "If that pillar won't accept me, I'll make it accept me."
In one cycle, Xiangliu would've believed him. But, with a soft smile, the demon walked away, watching as Wukong fell back once more. Cracks in the universe became more prominent, and chaos seeped through the world, its presence a wonderful blanket of wild energy coursing through him. Wukong yelled out in frustration, punching the ground wildly, and Xiangliu simply watched, waiting for the pillar to finally shatter.
Wukong panted, futility covering his body as he simply watched the pillar crumble. Yet, the sounds of running had interrupted the beautiful moment, the two demon turning back to see the panicked figure of a monkey rushing towards the pillar.
"You!" Xiangliu stood up in shock. "How did you--?"
"I broke out of your spell." MK glared at the snake demon. "The guardians called my name, telling me where the stones were, and Nuwa told me what I had to do."
"Don't you understand?" The demon hissed. "You're being played for a fool here. We're so close to being free, and you're willing to trap us in a cage all over again?"
Wukong gasped, running to other simian. "You know how to fix the pillar?"
MK nodded, eying Wukong briefly before returning his gaze to Xiangliu. "I'd rather live in a world where we are caged happily, then to be forced into a gilded prison when I'm needed."
The serpent paused, dread filling his body. "No--that's not--"
"You've done enough." MK growled, his trembling fists clenching tightly. "I'm fulfilling my purpose, on my own."
Xiangliu yelled, watching as MK slowly stepped to the pillar. Wukong quickly held the demon back, eyes widening as MK entered the pillar and the world faded to white.
Xiangliu stood still, watching the way nature emerged through the earth, and humans and monkeys emerged from clay. A stone laid on top of a fruit-filled mountain, almost ready to hatch, as a pebble would grow in its place centuries later.
The demon fell to his knees and screamed.

Let's talk about the most hated and least loved ship in this fandom. Peachnoodlo is Plumnoodlo.
Let's go, first of all I want to point out facts and not theories now, and I want you to dare me. My first question is why do you ship peach/plumnoodlo? Do they make sense to you? And tell me why. Because they make no sense to mer and many people with sense.
Remember that this is an opinion, and that I want to talk about this for a while to the people who ship them, and tell them why it is more wrong than saying that it is pedophilic. (Especially since this is my third post giving my opinion).
Let's go straight to the peachnoodlo ship of Wukong and Mk.
Okay, I understand that they have some cute moments and stuff, especially when Mk jumps in search of Wukong, yes, but... we can't forget how Mk was born, from what I remember Mk was born from the same stone as Sun Wukong and that gave him Sun Wukong's powers. I know some people think that Mk has his own powers, but in the show it's valid that Mk has Sun Wukong's powers which already leads to strangeness, but I'll talk about that later. The thing is the relationship between Mk and Sun Wukong, Mk trusts Sun Wukong, just like Sun Wukong trusts Mk, their relationship goes far beyond trust, it goes through respect, and how they're both there for each other, but they weren't meant to be shipped.
I honestly think it's valid that Mk doesn't see Wukong as a father, since the one who really takes care of Mk is Pigssy, but Mk will never see Wukong as a romantic partner (gross). But remember what I said "Mk inherited Sun Wukong's powers" now imagine that Mk didn't inherit Sun Wukong's powers, but his blood as well? Think about it, he came from the same stone, has the same powers, literally has the same parallels, they are super powerful monkeys that can destroy the sky, hmmm? If you didn't get it, but they are not father and son. Mk and Wukong are probably brothers, and this could literally be a fact, I know it seems like a theory, in a desperate attempt to say "stop shipping Mk and Sun Wukong!!!", (which for me should have already stopped you) but trust me, it makes sense.
But I'll talk about this later. Now let's go to plumnoodle, another ship that makes me anxious.
Straight to the point. Mk would never see Macaque as a romantic partner, for obvious reasons, Macaque was one of the first to cause a lot of trauma in Mk, and I really wanted this to be explored more.
Macaque used Mk to get to Sun Wukong to kill him (which doesn't work). The problem is already there. What Macque did was cruel. He used Mk's naivety as a lever. He hurt Mk in a very bad way, which can leave Mk with a trust trauma, which got worse when Lady Bone Demon and Azura showed up, and it gets worse in season 3. I know that Macque was doing this to survive and that he didn't believe that Mk's gang would succeed, and that he had his "redemption deal", but that doesn't justify what he did the first few times. Macaque is good at giving advice, but he's not good when it comes to physically training a person. Guys, he literally called Mk a weapon, and that was in the first episode he appeared... If I were Mk, I wouldn't look that monkey in the face ever again, but he's a good-hearted boy.
So truth be told, Mk would never spend time with Macaque romantically.
Well... this was a waste of time to write, but I needed to say what I think. I honestly don't think these shipps are pedophilic, but I think they're very wrong. Mk would never look at his *mentors* like that, and Wukong is a Macaque who would never look at his *students* like that. And there's more, Mk is probably a child to them, no one, absolutely no one! I would call someone you see romantically a *child*!!! That's weird, "But Mk is an adult, he can have a relationship with whoever he wants!".... Do you ship Pó and Shifu? So Pó' relationship is Shifu's and the same as Mk's relationship with Macaque and Wukong. Masters who were "forced" to teach someone they didn't want to teach, but it was necessary. People, a student who has a relationship with their teacher is very, very bad. Yes, I know there are some works that have this kind of thing, but... Let's be honest, who would really want to have a relationship (sexually or romantically) with their teacher? And it's not a pedophilia thing, it's a professional thing, you can be as old as you want, from the moment you like your teacher in a way that's not normal, that's not good.
That said, I want the show to delve deeper into Mk's story, and show why he's in this world, because I doubt it's for the cause, but I hope it shuts people like you up.
there is and I want you to remember this song when you remember this ships.
(Opinions are open).

WELCOME BACK TO KNOX RAMBLES ABOUT THAT MONKIE SHOW AND CALLS IT AN ANALYSIS, THIS TIME FEATURING
MACAQUE AND HOW HIS PERCEPTION OF MK EFFECTS THEIR DYNAMIC (briefly) AND HOW THE WAY IT CHANGES EFFECTS HIS CHARACTER GROWTH (in more detail)
Alright, so, getting right into it: Macaque doesn’t really see Mk as a person at the start.
It’s “…nothing personal!” because he has no personal connection to Mk at this point. Sure he might think he’s funny, might even enjoy training him in a weird way, he even says he’s a good kid,
but he’s Sun Wukong’s student and a stepping stone to get to his Mentor and nothing more.
If Mk was killed in the battle between him and SWK he couldn’t have cared less, just another mortal not a huge deal, there’s lots of good ones that die out there and he’d probably be doing him a favour anyways so that he doesn’t have to experience the stuff that comes with knowing the Monkey King personally. He shows no remorse for endangering Mk, mostly due to the fact, I think that his focus is entirely on Wukong.
Mk beats him instead of Sun Wukong (the first account of Macaque underestimating Mk) and Macaque disappears for a while to regroup or figure out some other way to get Sun Wukong to fight him since Mk can clearly take care of himself and Wukong’s already proven he’s not going to fight Macaque all out even if he endangers his student so mainly stays out of the way for a while. (Honestly all speculation, I have no idea what this dude’s plan was BGSDL;KFJS)
Then we get Shadowplay and the dynamic shifts again.
Now Macaque seems to see Mk as less of Wukong’s student and more of just straight up another Sun Wukong.
He pokes at him, monologues at him, and shoves him into the same box he has Wukong in with the whole “got too powerful and so you ditched your friends cause you’re selfish,”
and keeps talking about how he’s “just a that bit too much like him.”
He can’t get Wukong to fight him so he redirects most of his focus on Mk for a while and relishes any chance he gets to beat him down and show him how good he’s not
because he thinks this is a Wukong he can manipulate and he still doesn’t see Mk as Mk yet. His attachment is there because this is a Wukong he can mess with, and whenever Mk proves that’s not true and beats him, which he always looks thrown by,
he runs off and gives some theatric dramatic spiel about being his mentor and all that.
During the ses 3 arch he’s got a weird sort of attachment to Mk and it’s starting to become it’s own separate thing from Wukong but it’s still because of Wukong. He’s familiar with him in a way that gets a reaction out of Mk because he likes messing with him, not really cause he feels close to him.
“Hey, kiddo. You miss me?”
“No.”
He’s still treating him like someone who’s being gaslit by Wukong and needs his guidance. He talks down at him, takes every opportunity to mess with him, and is blindsided by how Mk responds because he still seems to only see him as far as his own connection with Wukong.
He does a bit of the same thing to Tang, making the assumption that he’s much closer to Monkey King than he actually is, and pins the blame of Tang being benched on Wukong when he actually kinda had nothing to do with it.
He seems to think he needs to “save” people from being around Wukong cause the fallout isn’t worth it, and yet all he seems to want is to be around him and beat him.
Just a theory here, but I think it would be fascinating if Wukong “abandoned him” when he went to fight Heaven for the last time before he ended up under the mountain and told Macaque he couldn’t come because he wasn’t strong enough, he wouldn’t survive. It would explain Macaque’s incessant need to gain more power and fight Wukong, because if he misinterpreted that as Wukong saying he wasn’t as powerful as him so he wasn’t worth taking along and he never came back, then a lot of what he does would kinda make sense because he might have been basing his worth as a person off of how powerful he is, and if he can finally beat Wukong to show he’s just as powerful, no more powerful, then he’ll finally have to accept he’s worth something and he was stupid for leaving. (Dude’s got issues whatever the case.)
Macaque’s whole thing seems to be about proving he’s stronger than them. He throws Mk around,
goads him into fighting him,
usually by threatening his friends
tries to get Wukong to go all out on him even going so far as to threatening to straight up kill Mk, and no matter how many times Mk beats him,
he still stands back up and pretends he has the upper hand.
He walks away from battles before they end like a kid who knows they’re losing the board game so they tap out saying they got bored and they could win if they wanted to, they’re just not interested anymore.
The exception to that being when he’s hyped up on LBD magic, but the moment that’s gone and he’s faced with an angry Sun Wukong he just tries to run without even bothering to pretend he has the upper hand because he knows he doesn’t.
All throughout season 3, Mk is trying to reach out to Macaque,
and Macaque keeps rejecting that.
And still doesn’t seem to see Mk as his own person yet. He cares about himself more than he does anyone else, and despite every display of selfishness Macaque gives,
Mk still reaches his hand out and gives him a chance to be something more.
Wukong was ready to beat the crap out of him for what he did to Mei, which, fair, but Mk still offers him a spot with them, to fight for something more than himself, and it destroys Macaque’s perception of Mk in that moment, when he refuses to leave his friend, even though he knows he could die if he doesn’t, and even amidst something Macaque helped cause, he still reaches out for him, and every bit of Macaque’s warped perception of him being a mini-Wukong shatters.
Mk extends his hand yet again, and he rejects it.
His view has been flipped on its head. He steps back, runs without belittling, he rejects him without the violence he’d usually lash out with, he vanishes without deflecting, but doesn’t go far. We see him keeping an eye on Mk during The Corrupted King
and even rescuing him when things go to heck.
Because without all the bitterness he has for Wukong warping his perception of Mk, he’s finally seen, at least partially, who Mk is (thought not fully realizing it yet) and wants to accept that invitation to join them. But he doesn’t.
He helps them without joining them, in a way that he doesn’t have any expectations on him. He brings them the mayor
and tries to talk them through what he knows,
but when they bring him into their plan all he has to say is:
“I’m not up to being a hero, kid.”
And Mk counters without missing a beat: “We don’t need you to beat him.” “We can do this. You can do this.”
Macaque tries to deflect again, and Mk’s having none of that. He calls him out. Macaque is there for a reason, and he plays at being this selfish guy so hard he’s convinced everyone around him and almost himself too, and Mk can see him not for what he is, but who he has the potential to be.
And then in the first bit of honest dialogue we get from him, without any cocky smirks or attempt at deflection, just quiet and a little self loathing.
“I’m not a hero, bud.”
“Then be a Warrior.”
Which, essentially is Mk saying that he doesn’t need to be a hero. And he doesn’t expect that of him either. Macaque looks at heroes, he looks at Mk and Wukong and cannot see himself fitting into that mold, so why even try? Why even try to be more than what he is. Why join the heroes when he can never be one of them? And then Mk comes in saying he doesn’t need to be. He doesn’t need to be anything but himself.
And that’s when it really clicks. That completes Macaque’s realization of the type of person Mk is. Macaque stops seeing Mk as a stepping stone, a way to get to Wukong, a mini-Wukong, or anything else, he stops being scared of accepting an offer for fear he can’t live up to it and in that moment he starts seeing him as Mk. Because somehow, despite everything, despite his many displays of selfishness, endangering his friends, making their lives so much more difficult, Mk still doesn’t hate him, he won’t hate him. And he isn’t asking him to be more than what he already is. He looks at this messed up shadow Monkey who believes he can never be a hero and tells him being a warrior is enough.
And then Macaque drops back. He stops pretending. “Okay, kid. You win.” Stops hiding what he is
“What can I say? I’m dramatic.”
He stops trying to prove something.
He’s not the main point of focus anymore (kinda like Red Son’s arch now that I think about it,) he stops trying to get in their faces, he stops talking down to Mk, stops playing at trying to be his mentor like he has something to teach him,
stops pushing him off balance, he waits for him without pushing him
and when Mk is knocked over he actually goes so far as to pick him back up again, and leans on him in a hidden display of support to keep him steady and act casual.
He’s willing to face Wukong, not to win, he knows he can’t
but just to buy time because he doesn’t need to prove he’s stronger or better after Mk just flat up tells him all he needs is to be what he is and what he chooses to be. He chose the Warrior moniker and Mk basically gives him permission he didn’t want to admit he needed to just be himself. Macaque isn’t a super terrible person when he’s not pretending to be something he’s not.
Even at the end in that little scene with the crew relaxing, he could have went back to goading Mk or talking down at him, looming above him, but instead he’s down at his level
“you were done with that, right?”
His little theatre drama is back a bit, but its the most playful and non-confrontational we’ve seen him, even when Wukong is right there, because Mk isn’t Wukong’s successor anymore he’s just Mk to Macaque, just like how Macaque isn’t anything but himself to Mk. He’s not really pretending to be his mentor anymore, or one of the big baddies he should be fighting either. He’s just Macaque. You see him close right up again when Wukong starts talking, stands up, crosses his arms across his chest, gets defensive, looking away
but his issues with Wukong are no longer directed at Mk because he finally sees that Mk’s his own person, and that bias he previously had is gone. He’s a lot calmer, chill, and is okay with being seen out in the light. He lingered aroudn the group for a bit rather than dipping right after like he might have before. Which honestly is a huge step for his character and WHAT AN AMAZING ARC THAT I DIDN’T APPRECIATE ENOUGH WHEN THE FANALE CAME OUT BECAUSE I WAS GETTING BODYCHECKED BY BURN OUT BUT M A N
I honestly don’t know how the next arc will handle his and Wukong’s dynamic there or if we’ll ever get closure or an unbiased account on the fall-out that happened between them or how the crew will write that, but honestly I don’t mind this dynamic they have right at the end there so much because, while the arguing/banter is easy to fall back into and just seems to feel like a safe spot for the both off them (i’m not sure they know how to react to one another without that bit of a challenge in the conversation anymore, but a lot of the bite is gone,) Macaque seems, for the most part, to be done trying to fight Wukong. He’s got acceptance from Mk and by extension the Monkie crew, and suddenly it seems like getting Wukong’s attention, doesn’t seem to matter to him as much anymore. At least at that moment.
His good-bye is him trying to get under Wukong’s skin, with less aggression than before, just for the sake of messing with him rather than actually goading him into a fight,
and then he softens right up when he says goodbye to Mk, like, actually softens, not to get under his skin, not to talk down at him, but in a more genuine manner, because he finally sees them as separate people and there’s a respect there for Mk that he didn’t have before. He doesn’t need to act so much around him, so that mask he has on, that drama, that “Dunno, somewhere i can do a bit of scheming probably,” turns into a much more genuine, quiet “see you around Mk.”
Mk knows who and what he is, and is okay with that, so, Macaque doesn’t need to pretend to be anything less or anything more. And he’s always welcome back in their little group whenever he’s feeling up to it
The last we see of Macaque, he gives a genuine private smile at the doodle Mk sent with no one else around to see it and the camera pans up with him looking into the sky at the light of the sun, and if that ain’t a blatant metaphor for a brighter future for him with the word “redemption” narrated by Tang right over that, I dunno what is GSDLKJFSD
In any case, there’s a lot of assumption in this analysis/hc post so I could very well be wrong and there’s no guarantee the new director is gonna keep the direction that’s going right now, but this was fun and I’m glad Macaque’s character could get a little bit of a start of a redemption arc there at the end. He’s got a long way to go, but MAN if that ain’t some fire storytelling on the first bit of progress. This show does an amazing job writing it’s characters and I am so glad I’m around to be watching the show.
(Also, I say this about like, 90% of the characters in this show but like MK IS BIG FAVE. He has an amazing ability to just grab the good in people and pull it out so they can see it themselves and just, when they’re ready to change he accepts them in an instant and I am SO curious as to why he choses to be the way he is and i WANT MORE OF HIM SO BADLY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND HE IS UNDERRATED EVEN AS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE SHOW, I ADORE HIM AND WHAT HE BRINGS OUT IN THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM THANKS)
ANYWAY HOPE Y’ALL HAVE A SPECTACULAR DAY, SENDING YOU GOOD VIBES AND THANKS FOR READING o7

Delirium
@smallpwbbles happy birthday, take some delirious Wukong-
Word Count: 2k
Read on Ao3
-
MK paused in a mixture of shock, horror, and awe as he took in the sight before him.
Pigsy had his head in his hands, looking for all the world like he was totally done with the situation. Tang was standing beside him, trying to hide his increasingly obvious laughter. Mei had no such qualms, and was laughing out loud, practically on the verge of literally rolling around on the floor. Red Son stood next to her, holding up Mei's phone, which seemed to be recording, the fire demon trying desperately to look neutral to the situation, but a small smirk on the edge of his lips betrayed him, revealing his amusement. Sandy stood slightly off to the side, holding a blanket, ready to step in at any time.
And Macaque stood ramrod straight, appearing to be somewhere between 'embarrassed' and 'would somebody please strike me down already'- as Wukong leaned against him, saying a series of sloppily put together compliments.
MK took a deep breath, speed-running all five stages of grief in under an instant. (Possibly a new record for him.)
"I left. For five minutes." He said, taking note of how some places on the deck seemed to be dented, and was that smoke coming from over there? "How, exactly, did things end up like this?"
He received no answer, the others having jumped and turned to stare at him when he had spoken, having not noticed his return.
...Wait, where did Wukong-
"MK." Wukong said, and MK did his best not to jump as the delirious Monkey King appeared beside him out of nowhere and put a hand on MK's shoulder. "My, my dear su- ......succulent.....?"
"Successor." MK corrected, trying to ignore how the others were barely restraining their laughter. (Macaque, at least, looked somewhat sympathetic, but he also looked far more grateful for the fact that Wukong's attention had shifted away from him.)
"That's, yes. That's the word, yes." Wukong said, before grabbing hold of MK's cheeks, squishing them a little as he made sure MK was looking at him. "I am so proud of you."
"...Thanks?" MK said, questionably, pulling himself out of Wukong's grip. Wukong briefly glanced at his hands, seemingly confused as to where his successor had gone. "Monkey King- I'm right here. You should really be resting, until whatever this is gets out of your system-"
"Red Son!" Wukong exclaimed, the aforementioned fire demon making an audible noise of terror, slipping to hide behind Mei as Wukong spun around to face him-
Only to trip over his own two feet, slamming into the deck, denting it ever so slightly.
...For about the twenty-third time that day.
Sandy took this as his time to move forwards, gently laying the blanket down on top of Wukong, before announcing that he was going to try and make some more healing tea, (Wukong had dumped the first pot of it over the side of the ship, claiming that it was 'too bitter', 'wouldn't work anyways', and complaining that it didn't 'taste like peaches'), and the river demon left, going back down inside of the airship, leaving the others without his calming presence.
"...Okay guys, while Monkey King is....asleep..." MK wasn't even actually sure if Wukong was asleep, but he'd stopped moving and had become utterly silent since slamming into the deck, so- "I suggest we make it so that he doesn't hurt himself or us with anything on the ship."
"What, are you suggesting we should baby-proof the entire ship?" Pigsy asked.
"...More like 'Monkey King-proof', but yes, actually, that is exactly what I am suggesting." MK said, "We're going to need to cover all of our bases-"
"Uh, kid?" Macaque interrupted, grabbing MK's attention by lightly tapping on his shoulder. "If you're going to Monkey King-proof the ship, you uh, might want to start with the railing."
He pointed to the edge of the ship, and MK followed his gaze to see-
"Oh you've got to be fucking kidding me." MK said, just catching the barest, tiniest glimpse of Wukong, wearing the blanket around his shoulders like a cape, leaping over the side of the ship. "That's the fifth time he's done that today."
-
It wasn't all that hard to find him again. All they had to do was follow the destruction a delirious, overpowered monkey leaves behind.
Or at least, that was MK, Mei, and Macaque's strategy, up until they stumbled upon a perfectly normal, entirely untouched clearing.
"...What do we do now?" Mei asked, and Macaque made to give an answer-
Only to have to jump back, barely avoiding being impaled as Wukong suddenly appeared out of the surrounding woods, carrying a rather large tree. He had twigs, leaves, and dirt all throughout his fur. The blanket was seemingly missing, but neither MK, Mei, nor Macaque really wanted to find out where it had gone. The group of three took a cautious step back as Wukong locked eyes with them.
"Wanna see how up I can lift this tree?" He said, already lifting said tree above his head. (Everyone ignored how he'd seemingly forgotten the word 'high'.) MK and Mei shared a look as Mei slowly pulled out her phone, opening up the camera.
"I mean, we really shouldn't, but..." MK said, and Wukong beamed, shifting to hold the tree with one hand, taking the chance to show off. MK and Mei 'ooh'ed and 'awe'd appropriately, but Macaque rolled his eyes and looked away.
Which cause him to miss seeing the exact moment when Wukong's strength faltered, the tree falling upon the Monkey King's back, pinning him to the ground.
Macaque certainly didn't miss Wukong's screech of terror though.
MK and Mei had froze in shock, but Macaque reacted instantly, running over to the pinned monkey. The panicked mutters of "Not again, not again, please not again-" left little doubt as to what was currently going through Wukong's mind.
Macaque practically sent the tree flying in his rush to get it off of the other, and, not knowing was else to do when that didn't immediately quell Wukong's panic, flipped him over, desperately hoping that seeing the wide open sky, with no mountain in sight, would calm the Monkey King down.
And, well, it must've done something, as Wukong quieted, blankly staring up at the sky, without blinking.
"...Are you....okay?" Macaque asked, fearing that he had made things worse as he kneeled down beside him.
"...Have I... ever told you that you have beautiful eyes?" Wukong muttered, and Macaque paused.
"Ah- no. No." Macaque said, standing up. "No, we are not doing this again- MK, come get your stupid mentor, we're going back to the ship."
-
"MK- hey- hey kid-"
"What is it now, Monkey King?" MK sighed, tired. It had been unanimous that Wukong could no longer go even seconds without being supervised, and now had to be watched at all times. MK, unfortunately, had gotten the short end of the stick and had been chosen for the first watch, (They had drawn straws, and he had not missed the sighs of relief from the others, nor had he missed how Macaque had magically changed the length of the straws. He swore he'd get that shadow monkey back somehow), which of course meant that he was the first to have to put up with the delirious Wukong's complete and utter bullshit.
"Um- Would, do you think Macaque's fur tastes bitter like his rationality?" Wukong asked, from where he was laying on his back, on the couch, yet another of Sandy's blankets set on top of him. (They'd tried to cocoon him, but after enough protesting they'd given up on it for now).
"Wh-" MK started, confused, turning the sentence over in his head to make sense of it before responding. "...First of all, no, I think it would just taste like hair, second of all, did you mean to say personality?"
"....Yes...." Wukong said, slowly, before a wicked smirk came over his face, and MK felt fear settle into his bones. "Do you wanna see me make a hair buddy-"
"No!" MK yelled, and he may have lost all his powers, including his enhanced speed, but you wouldn't have known it from the way he practically flew to stop Wukong from blowing on his hair. "You are not going to be making any clones any time soon, okay? Monkey King I need you to look at me and confirm that you will not make any hair clones while you're delirious."
"...I will not make hair buddies while I'm serious." Wukong said, and MK sighed.
"Good enough, I guess." He said, sitting back down in his chair, slumping, momentarily closing his eyes in exasperation.
When he opened them again, Wukong was gone.
"Fuck-" MK said, jumping up and spinning around-
Only to see Wukong on the other side of the room, curled up on top of the other couch. He'd somehow gotten more blankets than before too, MK was certain there had only been two in the room before, but now there appeared to be at least seven.
MK didn't want to question where and how Wukong had gotten them.
What he would like to know though, was-
"...Why did you move to the other couch?" MK dared to ask, prompting Wukong to stick his head out of the pile of blankets he had buried himself in.
"Cause this one's more soft! The other one's too....too..." He seemed to blank on the word 'stiff', and instead said; "Boney. Boney couch. Bouch."
MK took a deep breath, trying to keep himself from breaking down then and there. It was, of course, at this moment, that he noticed Red Son try to sneak pass the open the door and down the hallway.
MK didn't let him.
"Red Son!" He said, rushing over (never taking his eyes off of Wukong), and looping his arm around the demon's. Red Son squeaked, but MK ignored it as he dragged him over to stand in front of Wukong. "Perfect timing, I think it was about time for me to have a little break, y'know? Would you mind watching him for me for a moment?"
Red Son was about to say no- but the look on his face, the look of someone who was oh so close to Losing It made him reconsider.
"...Sure..." Red Son said, slowly, "So long as it's only for a bit-"
"Cool! Thanks!" MK said, immediately letting go, turning and practically sprinting out of the room. "Good luck!"
Red Son had the ever looming sense that he had just doomed himself.
(He should have never accepted their offer to join them on the ship. But dammit, MK had offered some of that spicy candy he knew Red Son liked, and the fire demon just couldn't have refused.)
For a few blissful minutes, it was silent, Red Son staring at Wukong in apprehension, while Wukong hardly seemed to have noticed that anything had changed at all, still snugly wrapped in his nest of blankets.
And then Wukong lifted his head, a questioning expression on his face.
"...Does blue exist?" He asked, and a look that was somewhere between exasperation and pure terror made it's way onto Red Son's face.
"Noodle Boy, hurry up with your break and get back in here, your mentor's going existential!" He yelled, looking in the direction MK had gone, desperately hoping that the other would come back and save him from this fate.
"You can handle it!" MK's voice called faintly.
"...If blue doesn't exist......Then red doesn't exist......so does that mean you don't exist?" Wukong asked, under his breath, looking at Red Son with fear.
"I most certainly can not handle this!" Red Son yelled, "Could somebody please get over here?"
Nobody answered his call. Red Son honestly hadn't expected them to.
After all, he would've made the exact same choice.
He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, trying to figure out how to respond to the monkey that currently seemed to be having an existential crisis.
Only to jump as he heard an ear shattering scream of frustration ring through the ship.
This had the fortune of snapping Wukong out of his crisis, instead having him simply look confused. Red Son ignored the faint shouts from Macaque's room (something about 'fuck you've got a serious pair of lungs' and 'warn a guy next time') as he tried to calm himself down from the sudden scare.
Geez. MK had seriously needed that break.

Prompt 76, MK accidentally lets it slip to Pigsy that Monkey and Macaque are “seeing each other” as in not quite dating but been on a few “dates”...again. Pigsy who is on a low profile and hasn’t told MO who he really is, let’s it slip how he thinks “his eldest brother can do better” and MK is very confused.
Feel free to ignore!!!!! I’ve never asked for something like this before and if I did it wrong feel free to ignore it!
I may or may not have a soft spot for protective younger sibling type scenes in media so I had way too much fun writing this.
It could be worse. They could be dating. Wait? They are?!
"I don't understand what that damn monkey is thinking half the time," Pigsy said with a sigh, pinching the bridge of his snout with a groan. "Just... let Macaque on the ship, yeah, that totally isn't going to backfire. Not like he has ulterior motives at all, not like we just learned all the stuff he pulled over the last year including trapping three of us in a lantern to fight you and teach you some kind of lesson.”
Things had been tense on the drone ship for the last month. Theyd barely begun on their journey before a certain immortal monkey managed to catch them off guard and chase them for multiple days under the White Bone Spirit’s influence.
It became apparent very quickly that she was using him to toy with them, a sort of gloating in her victory. Well, joke was on her. Sending him after them meant they were able to see just how far her influence and control actually reached and they were able to find a way to free him from that with more than a little force and some stolen artifacts.
The fact she hadn’t sent anyone else, however, was... concerning to say the least. If she wasn’t worried about losing her grip on Macaque, of all people, that did not bode well for them.
But for the moment that was neither here nor there. What mattered in the moment was that in the month since the immortal monkey had managed to be dragged onto their ship to recuperate Wukong had become far too comfortable with letting him have free reign over whatever he wanted to do on the ship (within reason).
And Pigsy didn’t like that. Aforementioned soul trapping in a lantern and trying to turn MK against his teacher and all that. Pigsy didn’t trust Six-Eared Macaque as far as he could throw him.
"It's been a month and nothing's happened yet?" MK offered not so helpfully, shrugging with an awkward nervous chuckle. “I mean... unless he’s playing a really long game he’d probably have done something by now, right?”
"Well... It could be worse," Pigsy admitted with a chuckle as he stretched out and started to cut up the ingredients for his lunch dish. "They could be dating."
MK made an awkward choking sound as he inhaled his water.
"Wait...?" Pigsy turned around slowly, leveling the young man with a half glare. He stared for a moment, watching as MK refused to meet his gaze. Looking left and right and literally anywhere not at Pigsy’s face. "THEY ARE!?"
"I didn't tell you!" MK shouted, jumping up and hiding behind the table and pointing at Pigsy dramatically. "I said nothing, you cannot pin this on me!"
"YOU KNEW AND YOU KEPT IT A SECRET!?" Pigsy yelped, tone not angry but loud enough to make MK freeze with wide worried eyes. The chef stopped, sighing again as he took in a calming breathe before continuing. "Ok... ok... MK, I ain't mad, being mad at you would be ridiculous. But exactly how long have you known?"
MK frowned, looking up at the ceiling in thought before a tentative but curious look passed over his face.
"...I can neither confirm nor deny that I caught them smooching in the med bay two weeks ago."
"TWO WEEKS!?"
“You didn’t hear it from me!” MK said, pointing at himself as he backed away with another nervous laugh. “I have plausible deniability, you figured it out on your own!”
“Of all the hard headed thick skulled bad decisions that stupid-” Pigsy mumbled to himself, burying his face in his hands as he held back a scream of frustration. “There are so many men. So many men! So many ex-enemies even! But no, he had to go and hook up with his actual ex that tried to take over his identity and kill his entire travel party!”
“To be fair he kinda seems to be changing for the be-wait...?” MK started to offer, watching at the chef paced around the kitchen. “How... do you know they used to date? I don’t think even Tang knows that.”
“He could have dated literally anyone else and he chose to get back with Macaque,” Pigsy said with another sigh, removing his hands from his face with a scowl. “I knew he was dense but elder brother can do so much better.”
“I’M. SORRY?” MK yelled, this time being the one to startle the other. “ELDER. BROTHER?”
Pigsy froze, eyes wide in horrified realization. “... you didn’t hear that.”
Pigsy ran out of the room, MK hot on his heels.
“PIGSY COME BACK YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN AND NOT MAKE RASH DECISIONS!”
Pigsy did not go back to the kitchen, instead heading straight to the rec room that he knew the two monkeys were spending most of their recent time in when not off alone who knows where (now he knows where). MK was following right behind, trying to both get an explanation out of him and to dissuade him from confronting the Monkey King and also looking generally very confused and concerned.
He didn’t succeed before the pig demon slammed the rec room door open.
"WUKONG!" Pigsy shouted from the doorway, startling the two immortal monkeys from whatever conversation they were engrossed in . "You. Me. Deck. Now."
"I-"
"NOW. ELDER BROTHER."
The facial journey through confusion to realization to horror on Sun Wukong's face was worth the delayed reaction shout of "WHAT DO YOU MEAN ELDER BROTHER!?" from the other immortal sitting next to the Monkey King.
“BAJIE!?” Wukong yelped.
“YOU’RE ZHU BAJIE!?” MK yelped in much the same tone.
“Oh fuck,” Macaque whispered under his breath.
“DECK!” Pigsy repeated.
“BAJIE WHAT THE FUCK!?” Wukong repeated himself.
“ZHU BAJIE!?” MK also repeated.
“How many other enemies did I piss off that are on this ship?” Macaque continued, seemingly resigned to his fate.
“YES I’M BAJIE STOP YELLING MY OWN NAME AT ME!”
Needless to say that conversation was the most incoherent non-productive mess they had on the ship in the last month. Until Sandy burst into the room and forced them all to talk it out peacefully.
Macaque did, in fact, learn how many old enemies he had on the ship when Sandy came clean that he was also Sha Wujing.
And Pigsy did not, in fact, manage to talk any sense into his elder brother given how much MK was yelling at him for keeping his identity a secret from him.
Wukong just sat with his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands wondering what in the actual hell his life had become.
(The next day, after a night of rest and a day talking to MK and apologizing and explaining everything, Pigsy caught the two immortal monkeys asleep cuddled on the couch of the rec room and decided that his elder brother could make his own decisions. And maybe MK had a point, given Macaque hadn’t done anything. Yet.
If he pulled a blanket over the two of them while they rested and they noticed no one said anything about it. And if Macaque snuck off the ship and there were, coincidentally, some rare ingredients for some dishes Pigsy missed making and a few scrapes and bruises on the immortal when he resurfaced... well, he didn’t say anything either. Monkie kid fandom: o well macaques a morally grey character he’s got a traumatic past and Sun Wukongs so mean and evil for leaving him
Reality: Macaque is literally ment to the representative of Sun Wukongs EVIL side and having a “traumatic past” doesn’t justify literally trying to kill people who had nothing to do with it he also traumatised Mk because he can and because he’s connected to Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong choose to change his ways macaque just decided “you no what am going to kill this monk because he’s connected to somebody who left me.” I don’t understand how people try so hard to Villainise Sun Wukong when’s he’s literally ment to be one of the first ever superheroes.
Haha oh geez that is how it often feels.
Like at this point there does seem to be something of an effort to make Sun Wukong look bad in order to absolve Macaque of a lot of wrong-doing...But as you mentioned, besides it being the case that the Six-Eared Macaque was originally made to function as a representative and/or living embodiment of Sun Wukong's anger and violent tendencies (hence why Sun Wukong's a lot less prone to sudden acts of violence after he kills the six-eared simian in JTTW), given all the murder attempts and manipulation and literal acts of kidnapping/brainwashing/mind control he's committed in the lego monkey show, personally I feel like the dude is pretty much as viciously jealous & as willing to throw people under the bus to achieve his aims as he is in Journey to the West.
Like I know that Monkie Kid diverges from JTTW in a number of ways (a big change being that Sun Wukong had beat up a lot of demons instead of smashing them into meat patties lol), but one of the things that does feel like it's being lost in translation, as it were, is that the Six Ear Macaque was a villain not just because he beat up the Tang Monk, but because he wanted to take over Sun Wukong's entire life and identity so he could have all that glory and prestige for himself. To quote the macaque himself from the Anthony C. Yu translation, "I struck the T'ang monk and I took the luggage...precisely because I want to go to the West all by myself to ask Buddha for the scriptures. When I deliver them to the Land of the East, it will be my success and no one else's. Those people of the South Jambudvipa Continent will honor me then as their patriarch and my fame will last for all posterity." And in order to do this, the Six Eared Macaque had apparently made Sun Wukong's "little ones," his monkey family, his captives through either trickery or force, and gotten a number of them to take on the appearance of Tang Sanzang and the other pilgrims. It's also made clear that in direct contrast to Sun Wukong he doesn't care about these monkeys beyond how they might serve him, given that after Sha Wujing kills the monkey posing as him the Six Eared Macaque not only all but immediately replaces him with another, but also "told his little ones to have the dead monkey skinned. Then his meat was taken to be fried and served as food along with coconut and grape wines." So this monkey is not only willing to risk the lives of a lot of other monkeys for his own benefit, but is also a literal cannibal.
In Monkie Kid (at least according to Macaque, who is an unreliable narrator at best), he had been best of friends with Sun Wukong before Sun Wukong presumably went off to live in Heaven & abandoned all of his friends on Earth. And it is true that in Journey to the West, Sun Wukong had spent over a century of earthly years in heaven just enjoying himself before he gets into trouble by ruining the Immortal Peach Banquet and heading back down to his yaoguai kingdom. So in that regard, Macaque does have justification to hate Sun Wukong for having brought heaven's army to their mountain (of course you could say that starting a war over one banquet is a bit of an overreaction but that's a conversation for another day). What this does omit, however, is that the main reason Sun Wukong went to heaven in the first place is to see if he could get all of his monkeys to live up there, that he had spent centuries fortifying Flower Fruit Mountain from any and all threats beforehand, and that he brings back a bounty of immortality-granting wine, which all the monkeys eagerly drink. And perhaps most importantly, in the following war with heaven itself all of the assembled yaoguai were behind Sun Wukong 100%. He had already done so much for them, and they had already heard about how their great king was made to serve as a stable hand in heaven, and so got some sense of how little the heavens thought of them. This isn't to say that the Six Eared Macaque doesn't have reason to be mad at Sun Wukong or that the Monkey King doesn't share a lot of the blame for the events that led to the burning of Flower Fruit Mountain, but rather to say that all the assembled yaoguai weren't dragged into this war kicking and screaming. They seem to have regarded it as much as a power struggle with great potential rewards and which they could win as much as Sun Wukong did.
But going back to this version of the Six Eared Macaque, I find him interesting because I read him not as morally grey but rather as this frightening, somewhat tragic figure who's jealously of and resentment against Sun Wukong seems to have festered and grown to the point where it's become the sole defining feature of his life; like he's just gone from wanting to literally be Sun Wukong to wanting revenge against the Monkey King, and in all his centuries of living he hasn't allowed anything else to shape his life. After 500 years of apparently not really doing anything, after Sun Wukong made a reappearance Macaque just seem to be targeting anyone and anything that he thinks will let him hurt Sun Wukong, no matter the cost to others or to himself. It's like he was put into the role of Sun Wukong's doppelganger/shadow/evil clone, and he's now hellbent on staying in that position, no matter how much it hurts him or holds him back from cultivating his own individuality or his own story because that's the only way he feels he gain back his past power and/or stay connected to the Monkey King. There is something really tragic about a character who feels so damaged by and/or is so obsessed with the past that they stay in this stagnant position where they never even attempt to try something different from their destructive and self-damaging behavior, but that's precisely what makes Macaque a good villain as well. Besides being a clever and calculating villain, he never developed a sense of morality like Sun Wukong, he still treats everyone around him like tools, and his self-righteousness gives him "permission" to be a relentless monster to MK, all of MK's loved ones, and Sun Wukong himself. I know it's pretty common in media these days to start a villain down the path of redemption & into the bosom of team good guy by having them be hurt by an even worse villain, but personally I would love to see a story arc where Macaque actually has a realization of how horrible his behavior has been and to feel genuine remorse for it (maybe brought about by the violence he's likely suffering at the hands of the Lady Bone Demon, in a kind of "hey being manipulated and hurt for the benefit of others actually sucks oh no I can't believe I thought it was okay when I did it"), but then also has to face the consequence of his former student and former best friend (actually likely the entire monkie crew given the whole kidnapping/brainwashing/mind-controlling thing) never wanting anything to do with him again & cutting him out of their lives completely. I think he could still change for the better under such a scenario, but the seriousness of his bad actions shouldn't be swept under the rug.
In conclusion, I think a "redemption without forgiveness" story line could work really well for Monkie Kid's version of the Six-Eared Macaque in a kind of "you can't just do horrible things and then cry about your past like that somehow makes it okay" way, and smh at the Monkie Kid fandom for all the work put into giving Sun Wukong and only Sun Wukong flak for his and Macaque's fight.
Like if you have to demonize the Monkey King, at least go after him for having been a warlord.

Macaque
I was in the mood to make more content for Inverted AU, so here’s a short-ish fic of how episode 9 would go in this AU with Macaque, Wukong, and MK! Enjoy the shadowpeach!
Another demon defeated but still no sign of Sun Wukong. Macaque let out a sigh before rolling his shoulders to bring relief to tense muscles. Oh well, he'll just have to keep looking, not like he hasn't been at it for years now. At least this city he wandered to was quite nice with pleasant people, nothing too out there aside from demon attacks.
"Hey! Hey you! Shadow monkey man!" Macaque wouldn't deny that the sudden voice made him jump, considering he was on top of a pretty tall building. Apparently not tall enough to stop the young man from climbing up the side, somewhat out of breath yet that didn't deter from the determined look on his face. He simply brushed his messy hair out of his eyes and adjusted his teal backpack, which looked surprisingly heavy. Macaque couldn’t help but be somewhat curious as to what was in that thing.
Wait was that the Monkey King's staff in his hands?
Indeed it was, he'd recognize that weapon anywhere.
“Ah, you must be the Monkie Kid I’ve been hearing so much about, am I right?” That got him a look of suspicion before the young man also seemed to remember the staff in his hands, causing him to let out an amused huff at his own paranoia.
“Yeah, the staff kind of gives it away, don’t it? Name’s MK though. Now whomst is you? Most of the time, demons who ask me who I am are five seconds away from trying to kill me.” Macaque couldn’t help but chuckle at that, already finding that he was starting to like this little guy and his attitude. Perhaps if a person like MK was chosen to wield Wukong’s staff, then perhaps that meant his love had finally started turning things around for the better. Maybe it meant he finally stopped being someone he wasn’t all for the sake of keeping a memory alive.
“The name’s Macaque, though, the Six-Eared Macaque is actually my full name. But what brings you up here exactly bud? I doubt you’d climb up this high just for anybody.” MK’s face showed that he wanted to argue that point out of principle before remembering his purpose for coming up here.
“Simple, teach me.”
Wait what?
“What what?” MK scoffed at the question.
“I want you to teach me to fight, like how you fought that demon back there. I don’t intend on leaving you alone until you do and that is a threat!” Macaque didn’t doubt that he meant it that way and could very easily follow through on that. Sensing he wasn’t going to get out of this, he let out a sigh before giving MK a smile.
“You sure your mentor won’t have a problem with me teaching you?”
“Bold of you to assume Wukong’s disapproval will stop me.”
“Well alright then, I think we’re gonna get along just fine, bud.”
---
“I see what you’re trying to do, you’re afraid of holding back and giving your enemy the opportunity to win. But the first strike isn’t the most important one. Every strike counts. Other people may tell you that patience and focus don’t matter but a fool allows himself to rush without restraint. While you have power inside you, you have to use it carefully. Take the power to defend others, not just destroy those who stand in your way. You’re not a weapon kid, you wield the weapon above all else.”
---
It started with a fairly innocent question from MK after one of their training sessions, him slowly going through a water bottle given to him by Macaque while the monkey made them something to eat. He needed a distraction to stop himself from taking over the cooking, years of feeding others making him feel guilt the moment someone else took over.
“So Mac, how exactly do you know the Monkey King?” To his credit, Macaque only fumbled the slightest bit at that sudden question and was able to save the plate before it crashed to the floor.
“Oh um well… funny thing about that is, well… we used to be together actually. Like y’know… together-together,” he explained while he plated their food, wincing internally at how awkward he sounded. With his back towards MK, Macaque didn’t notice him go tense and grip the couch arm so tightly that the wood underneath cracked at the pressure.
“Used to be together, huh? What happened?” Macaque couldn’t help but shiver at the chill which traveled down his spine. MK’s voice was perfectly even and calm yet he was filled with an overwhelming fear that warned him to not turn around and remain perfectly still until the danger passed.
His ears twitched at the sound of sparks behind him, magic power permeating through the air.
“I… I messed up honestly. We had an argument about something, I don’t even remember what it was so long ago. But I had to leave to just get some space and air before I said something I’d regret, something I couldn’t take back. It was only meant to be a couple hours but some stuff out of my control happened and by the time I got back… Wukong was gone. I had been looking for him for centuries after that and then… well then you found me.”
“What, you hoped getting on my good side would mean that you’d win the Monkey King back?” His tone promised nothing good if Macaque kept digging himself a deeper hole.
“No! No, nothing like that at all. I don’t expect Pe-...Wukong to take me back or anything like that. I just… wanted the chance to apologize to him is all. If he wants anything to do with me afterwards, then I want that to be his choice. Nothing more, I swear.”
MK remained silent behind him before the sudden tension in the air dissipated as quickly as it appeared. Macaque let out a sigh of relief, slowly turning around to see MK still sitting on his couch, placing the staff back in his ear nonchalantly.
“Fair enough, sounds like you both were just idiots who don’t know how to communicate. If you actually intended on using me to get to the Monkey King, you’d have actually mentioned him during our training and yet you haven’t. And you can’t lie to save your life anyway. Just don’t be an idiot again alright? Monkey King… Wukong, he’s a mess and I don’t think he could handle thinking he’s been abandoned again.”
Macaque could feel his heart break at the idea that his Peaches, his love, thought that he had left permanently. He wanted nothing more than to run to him now and make things right. But that was Wukong’s decision to make, nobody else’s.
The two ate their food in silence after that.
---
Sun Wukong may have supposedly “lost his edge” but he was by no means dense or oblivious.
And while he was certainly happy about his successor’s vast improvement over the past couple weeks, a part of him sensed something was off. Like his successor was hiding something from him. And those moves he watched MK use to absolutely demolish the old mural, the Monkey King swore he had seen them before.
But it couldn’t possibly be. He hadn’t seen him in centuries. Not since he… left, like everyone else.
“I’m impressed, my boy! Tell me, how did you do that? Have you been seeing another mentor perhaps?” Wukong asked, his typically serene smile straining the slightest bit at the idea of his son student learning from someone who wasn’t him. The sensible part of his brain was gently poking at him, reminding him that it seemed silly to get upset about such a thing as, if anything, MK had appeared significantly calmer during their training compared to when they started. This could be a good thing, it told him.
Yet it was silenced by the majority of his brain which ran on fatherly protectiveness and had immediately been plagued by images of the worst case scenario. A demon had approached MK, promising him to make him stronger while also poisoning his student as a bid to turn him against the Monkey King before stealing his powers or, Heavens forbid, harming him.
No, Wukong refused to even allow a chance of that happening, logic and reasoning be damned.
“Hey, you’re the one always going on about ‘patience and focus’, I’m just finally putting what you said into practice,” MK answered, the picture of being casual which only set off further alarm bells within Wukong’s head. But before he could question him further, MK’s phone dinged to tell him of a new text message which he quickly read over, his eyes widening slightly at the message.
“Welp, looks like I gotta cut things short for now Wukong, something came up and I gotta head out. See ya later! Don’t forget to eat something tonight and sleep, I will know if you don’t.” And with that, MK was off through the hole he had created in the wall where the mural was before the Monkey King could get a word in edgewise.
Wukong waited long enough to allow MK to get a reasonable distance away before transforming into a bird, flying after his successor.
Something fishy was going on and the Monkey King was determined to find out what it was.
---
“Why exactly are we climbing up to this giant mountain again Mac?” MK wheezed, hating to admit it but this hike had genuinely winded him despite all his training. He had immediately gone to Macaque’s place the moment he got his text only to be told to follow the six-eared demon, leading them to where they were now.
“Well, consider this your ‘final exam’ bud! I want you to use everything I’ve taught you to fight against me, no holding back. Think you can do that?” MK couldn’t help the twitch at the corners of his mouth at the sight of Macaque’s genuine excitement as he explained, all six ears twitching while his tail was wagging like a dog. A demon who was centuries old and had fought countless powerful demons had no right looking that endearing, but here MK was looking with his own two eyes.
MK gave a chuckle before straightening himself out, wordlessly pulling the staff out his ear.
“You sure you’re comfortable getting your ass kicked by me, Mac?” With a smirk, Macaque summoned his own weapon in a flash of purple with the beginning of two shadow clones pooling at his feet. They shyly peeked from the ground from behind their master.
“Oho, a couple training sessions with me for a month and you think you have what it takes to defeat me, bud? Well then, bring it Monkie Kid!” MK didn’t hesitate to charge forward with Macaque mirroring him, weapons at the ready and adrenaline already running through their veins.
“Enough!”
A sudden force landed in between them with enough force to send them both flying backwards.
MK and Macaque recovered in time to see who decided to interrupt their duel.
Both of their hearts nearly stopped at the sight of the enraged Monkey King but for vastly different reasons.
“You have 5 seconds to explain yourself for trying to harm my-” Wukong’s rage quickly deflated as the dust cleared enough for him to truly see who it was he had thought was attacking MK. “Mango Flower?”
“Um… hello again, Peach Blossom. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” Macaque joked, voice weak as he restrained himself from acting out of bounds even if he wanted nothing more than to gather the other into his arms. It had been so long, far too long.
He nearly broke at the sight of tears beginning to form in Wukong’s eyes.
His resolve finally shattered as the Monkey King ran towards him, arms outstretched, and before Macaque knew it his legs were moving on their own. The wind was knocked out of him at how tight Wukong squeezed him yet he returned the embrace back with gusto, ignoring the groaning of his ribs. He simply buried his face into the other’s fur, the smell of peaches still there even after all these years. Faintly, Macaque realized he was also crying once he felt a wetness on his cheeks.
Macaque let out a squeak in surprise as Wukong picked him up in the hug and spun him around, the sound of his laughter echoing throughout the mountain. The sight of such unabashed joy on his face was enough to make the six-eared demon to start laughing too, joy contagious in the best of ways.
MK would deny it unless under the threat of death but he couldn’t help but smile as he watched the two monkeys get lost in their own little world. It made the guilt which nagged at his chest at having to manipulate the two to make this meeting happen ease up, seeing how happy the two were.
“It’s been so long…” Wukong whispered as he placed Macaque back on his feet, gently cradling his face as if afraid that if he stopped touching the other, that he’d disappear again. “But, why are you here? I had thought that you hated me, isn’t that why you…” Macaque went stiff in shock before taking the Monkey King’s hands into his own.
“What? No! If anything, I thought you hated me for leaving instead of talking things out and that’s why you were gone when I came back. I always intended on coming back to you Peaches, I swear on it.” Wukong’s eyes went wide at that, extremely close to crying again a second time that day. “I had been looking for you for centuries now to apologize.”
And now the warm feeling was gone, leaving MK to bite down on his staff to stop himself from screaming at how much those two had failed at the simple of communication.
“We’ve both been absolutely foolish, haven’t we?” Wukong couldn’t help but laugh at it all, which only worsened as he noticed all six of Macaque’s ears turn red in embarrassment.
“Yeah, I guess we have been-” His words were cut off as the Monkey King grabbed his scarf, pulling him into a sudden kiss that made Macaque jolt in surprise before he practically melted into the other’s arms. A purr rumbled in his chest and neither noticed their tails wind around each other.
The sound of MK clearing his throat, loudly, was enough to get them to break apart in embarrassment.
“If you two are done being romantic idiots, I have to beat the shit out of Macaque to prove that I’m better than him. I mean ace my ‘final exam’.” The grin on his face showed that he was lying through his teeth.
“Don’t think I forgot about all your trash talking, young man. How about it Peach Blossom? You willing to go all out with me and the kid?”
Wukong’s face was the epitome of ‘Every part of my body wants to say yes but I shouldn’t.’ He was already terrible at saying no to MK and now with Macaque’s endearingly earnest face, he knew he was done for, at least with these two working together now.
“...Oh alright.”
The two mutual cheers at his agreement made Wukong feel slightly less guilty in letting his lessons go for a brief moment. But not completely.
But that was okay, Wukong was used to living with constant guilt.

*INHALE*
@strange-lace told you to give me a day...
===
Another day, another demon attack.
Some days, Mk had gotten used to this routine. Waking up, starting work at Pigsy's, and then a demon attack, one he would beat with ease.
However on this particular day, the demons seemed to have teamed up on him. Easily overwhelming the delivery boy. He was severely outnumbered, especially without his friends backing him up.
One by one, the demons started piling up on top of him, eventually restricting Mk's movements.
Was this it?
Was this how the monkie kid falls?
'I'm sorry, Monkey King… I failed you…' Short of breath and losing his grip on the world of the living. Darkness soon engulfed Mk as he started to fall into the abyss of unconsciousness.
Thump... Thump...
The darkness was silent, except for the faintest throbbing that hung around him. A calm, shallow rhythm. Something that seemed to be lulling him deeper into his unconscious mind.
Thump. Thump.
The throbbing continued, getting louder and louder. Pain started to fire all throughout Mk's body, issuing him to start moving around in order to stop the pain.
Thump thump thump.
Rapid movements caused him more pain, particularly in his lungs. His chest felt like it was on fire, ready to explode at any second. At that moment in time, all he could do was panic.
This was really it.
No one will be able to save him…
Air rushing into his lungs, the sweet embrace of relief overwhelmed his senses. Any movements to escape ceased, all his energy focused on taking in as much oxygen as he could.
Mk's eyes fluttered open for a brief moment. A glance was enough. He was saved, the shadow of a familiar monkey looming over him.
"Kid! Kid!" His voice rang through the air, however the delivery boy, still drained from his near death experience, registered nothing.
"...monkey… king…?" Was all he could muster with the last of his strength as his vision faded to black.
Yet again he was encased in darkness. But this time, this time he could feel the warmth of something soft surrounding him, the smell of freshly cut fruits that after through the air, and finally, the feeling of a small hand pressing against his cheek.
Thinking it was one of the monkey king’s monkeys, he gently swatted the small hand away. "Not now XiaoBái…" Mk murmured before turning to his side doing his best to go back to sleep as his body still ached from the last battle with the demons.
A sudden jab to his side managed to wake him up completely with a start and a big, loud "OOF" as he rolled over in pain and found himself soon, laying in the flood face first.
Now fully awake he can see his surroundings better. He was in a small neat looking room with a bed and a bowl of fruits on top of the nightstand next to him. Upon seeing this, Mk realised that he wasn't in the monkey king’s small hut, no it was too clean to be!
As Mk scanned the room in bewilderment and confusion, his eyes landed on a small dark monkey that was staring at him intently.
"Hi…?" Mk managed out only causing the monkey to tilt their head and run off, allowing Mk to look around the room more freely.
He didn’t know how long he had been in that place, but something about the room seemed so captivating. The simplicity of everything held his gaze, such a stark difference from his own room and from the monkey king’s room.
“Finally awake, kid?”
Mk's whole body snapped towards the source of the voice, eyes flashing in recognition of the figure by the door. Afterall, there was only one monkey king, right?
"Monkey king!" Mk rushed over the monkey in question as he started gushing out how happy he was to see the monkey. Something that was short lived.
Recognition soon turned to fear and confusion as Mk stopped and properly took in the monkey in front of him. This wasn't the monkey king…
Mk's gushing and rambling soon trailed off as he stared at the monkey in front of him. He took notes of everything he could about the monkey, from the color of his fur to his posture. This monkey, he wasn't the monkey king at all!
At first glance, the differences between his idol and this stranger seemed non-existent. Not until a closer look is taken could the stark differences be seen. Mk froze on the spot, his lips sealed tight in a thin line as his eyes concentrated on the monkey in front of him.
Was this demon going to hurt him? He didn't know. Nor was he ready to face a new demon so soon after his recent defeat.
That's right. His recent defeat…
It wasn't until a gentle placement of a hand on his shoulder did Mk know how tense he was. How afraid he was…
"Take a deep breath, kid… I won't hurt ya…" his voice soft, his eyes sincere. Slowly, Mk started to take in deep breathes to calm his nerves as the black monkey shifted his hands to gently hold Mk's in order to show him that he isn't planning on doing anything, allowing the younger man to hold onto his hands.
Seconds turned to minutes as Mk did his best to steady his breathing. Soon, Mk managed to calm his breathing enough to think clearly once again.
"You're Sun Wukong's successor, aren't ya?" The black monkey attempted to start up a small conversation between them, trying his best to seem less intimidating than he actually is. A small nod confirmed the monkey demon's question, causing a small smile to creep up onto his lips glad that the kid in front of his finally calmed down.
"Name's Macaque, the Six-Eared Macaque actually…"

You was minding the island/monkeys in "SWK is MK's stone egg dad au"?
Ask 1: Wukong would only trust someone he knew would be able to protect the island if he wasn't available. Originally his idea was for that to be Macaque but well... that didn't turn out so good.
Guanyin would try to kill him herself if she knew Wukong was trying to create a Stone Egg on purpose.
Princess Iron Fan is similarly discounted, cus for all her joy surrounding having a child, she knows it's stupid to try and make one when the eventual result is death of the parent. She'd tattle on SWK to Guanyin.
Erlang would remember to unbury Wukong, but him and the Plum Hill boys dont gots a good reputation with the island's monkeys or monkey demons in general. Also the dog might try and dig up Wukong before he can even start the Egg-making process.
That leaves the people he 1: Is good friends with and/or 2: Owes him a favor.
DBK and Nezha ultimately are the two entrusted with the knowledge of what Wukong's doing.
DBK worries because of the risks involved, but understands why Wukong is so adamant on becoming a parent. DBK was willing to bow to the bodhisattva if it meant his little firefly could be born safely.
Nezha is told a little different version of the story since Wukong still sees him as a kid who will panic. Wukong just tells him that he's "Trying out a new mediatation technique", and to check in on him in a few centuries. Nezha is suspicious, but assumes Wukong is planning to isolate himself for the sake of the Rings of Samadhi. Can't tell anyone where his Ring is if he's entombed after all. Nezha makes sure to check in on the island every other year or so just out of duty, but also because he's a little attached to the island's monkeys.
The Pilgrims aren't told of what SWK's gonna do in case they try to stop him. But Wukong grants them and their reincarnations/decendants special access to the island in case his original plan fails. He knows if something on the outside went *really wrong*, they'd be able to eventually find him.
Which leads to...
I was thinking perhaps DBK was a good candiate to protect the island + wake Wukong.
Until something happened in their lives (a shared tragedy), that caused DBK to go nuts trying to stop Wukong from doing something that could have taken his little sworn brother away from him forever.
The death of a fellow sworn brother/Wukong's own best friend and mate; Macaque.
Wukong and DBK had agreed to only reveal the news to Macaque when Wukong's body had already started the process. Far along enough that even if Macaque dragged SWK up out of the ground in anger; a Stone Egg would still continue developing with the parent "awake".
Macaque died not knowing what Wukong had planned.
And DBK lost it.
He couldn't bare to lose his last Sworn Brother on top of losing his brother-in-law. It made no sense for Wukong to create the Stone Egg if his own family would never be able to greet it!
Wukong is forced to seal DBK away once the Bull began deliberately causing Havoc to draw him out of his cave. Enough trouble that there was talk in Heaven of feeding the Bull to the Furnace.
Wukong hates to admit it. He too didn't want to lose his brother.
So he's forced to seal DBK in stasis in the Underworld for the amount of time SWK planned to stay buried.
500 years would be enough for Wukong's body to produce a full-term egg without needing to leech life energy/dao from another source. So hopefully by the time he's ready to birth, Nezha will atleast be able to wake him up. And once his Egg and baby arrives, he will be able to release his sworn brother without the risk of getting stomped on in anger. His child would be old enough to protect themselves, and his in-laws no longer mad at him. Win win!
Unless something say... a curious, clumsy reincarnation of his former master stumbled upon his burial spot inside Water-Curtain Cave and dug him up thinking he was a pot and woke him up prematurely, forcing Wukong to carry the Egg to term for about a year while he spirtually drained others. But that defintely wont happen!
Right?

The Smell of Plum Blossom Tea Ch 8
Summary: Just like a butterfly wing, a single act of kindness can change the course of the future, it certainly did for MK as a black-furred monkey put out a hand towards him
Rating: Teen and up
Chapter 8: One By One
It’s been over a few weeks since the whole Bull King invasion and things have been pretty peaceful. The city has slowly begun to rebuild itself and people have steadily begun to go back to their day to day lives.
If there's one thing he can appreciate about society is that they always will keep going even when everything around them has been destroyed.
Macaque's own workload has finally eased up, the hospital didn’t anticipate that many wounded in that short span and wasn’t able to gather the materials. So, he has gotten calls from both Yanyu and some of the higher ups in the field for his assistance.
“This has been a pain in the ass,” he grumbled as he sat down on the couch with his cup of tea. “I really shouldn’t have let them off so easily for the fuckton of work they put on me.” His was then twitched as he heard a familiar/strange set of feet dashing their way towards him.
“Dad!” He sees his son, who had his jacket tied around his waist and staff nowhere in sight, smiles widely as he leaps to him and gives him a big hug, “it’s been so long!”
“Hey kiddo,” he was taken momentarily off guard by the hug, but smiled down at him as he petted his hair. “How was work?”
“Oh I didn’t go, someone is taking care of that,” he happily stated as he still held on tight.
Macaque blinked for a moment before he gave a small chuckle, “oh, is that so, well I was about to read and relax, you want to join?”
“Can you read out loud?” He cheerfully asked as he got himself comfortable on the couch as he laid down.
“Of course.”
“Yay!”
So Macaque began to tell the story of a blind girl and how she stood strong in the face of adversity and ridicule. He was in the middle of the part where the girl denies the deity gift of giving her sight when he heard the door slam open wide.
“Stay away from my Dad!/Don't worry old man, we're here!” MK and Mei respectively shouted out as they both held staff and sword out to fight the battle ahead, only to falter as they took in the scene of Mac sitting quite comfortably on the couch, while another MK laid on his lap with a content smile. “Uhhhh.”
“Took you long enough,” he said with amusement, “I was almost about to send a clone out to you myself.”
“Huh?”
“What? You don’t think I can’t tell a clone apart from my son?” He smirked as he patted the clone ahead, the only response was cuddling closer to him.
“You know?!” MK yelled out as he walked forward, still a bit cautious after his encounters with the rest of his clones.
He only raised an eyebrow as he showed off his shadow clone.
“Oooh, yeah that makes sense.”
“How come he didn’t attack you!” Mei threw her hands up in frustration. “I mean, come on! I had to deal with Portay MK and you have Mr. Cuddle Bug?!”
“Attack, Pfft yeah that's what usually happens during the first duplicate trials,” he said as he laid his book down.
“I’m sorry what?” MK has put away the staff at this point as he tried to sit next to his Dad, only to forget that the space was currently occupied by another him. He stared down at the clone laying in his spot then the clone looked up at him and just turned around and faced away from him.
“No,” was all he said as the next moment the clone disappeared and there sat the real MK with a wide grin, “so what was that about the trials?”
The six eared monkey raised an eyebrow at his son's actions as Mei wheezed in the background, “well usually when someone is learning the clone technique most of the time the clones would try to attack the user to prove their authority or their sense of identity.”
“That is actually terrifying,” he deadpanned.
“I thought you already knew this?” He questioned his son, who suddenly blushed.
“Well I may have accidentally learned I can do this,” he scratched the back of his neck as he laid on his Dad's lap.
“And you decided to test it out despite not knowing the consequences,” he sighed as he examined his son hair which was now sporting some very uneven ends and patches, “you even messed up your hair cause of this, I thought I taught you to not mess with magic unless you have me or someone competent in the arts.”
“I know, I know, but I just wanted some sleep and quiet!” He moaned out as he let the furry hands caress the knots and tangles in his hair, “I didn’t think it would lead up to this.”
“That’s how they all start,” he snorted as he felt Mei sit on his other side and lay on his shoulder, “so why don’t you tell me how this all began and tell me a bit more about your training with Wukong. I haven’t heard back on how that’s been going.”
“Training with the Monkey King is amazing!” He lit up as he talked all about his sessions.
Macaque silently listened to his son ramble on about his training sessions with Wukong and boy did that still send him reeling.
He still can’t believe that this is happening, that in all of these strange currents of events, Wukong actually made his son his successor. He still doesn't know how to feel about that cause, on one hand, damn straight his child can lift the staff no one has ever been able to before, he is so proud that he accomplished the impossible that mere words still can’t explain it. But on the other hand, Wukong recklessly decided to choose his son to be his successor despite his many enemies, does that idiot not comprehend the target he just placed on his back.
‘I swear I have half the mind to go up there and knock him silly for his complete ignorance…though how everything goes after that is the only thing that’s stopping me,’ Mac internally thought. ‘Who knows how he would react if I show up unannounced…probably would be just the sequel of our last fight,’ he bitterly thought. He has long accepted that his former friend probably wanted nothing to do with him anymore if they ever saw each other again.
“And then he goes on about how one must never- are you even paying attention?!” MK's voice broke out of his thoughts.
“Yeah I am, you were just talking about how your swings are easily blockable.”
“They are not that bad,” he huffed.
“You swing too wide comet/You hit like it’s a baseball bat,” both demon and teenager said.
“Okay, I may have a small issue.”
“And that’s why you're training,” he said as he took his hands out of his hair when he began to yawn.
“Yeah I know,” he sleepily said as he closed his eyes.
‘At least he is enjoying himself,’ he then focused his attention on Mei, who was also dozing off and began to groom her hair as well.
“Is that the best you got flame brain,” Daiyu cackled out as she flew higher in the air and dodged the fireball, “I met imps who were stronger than that-shit!” She felt a sharp pain explode from her back.
“Don’t you dare think you can outmatch me, little bird!” Red Son cockily stated as he twisted one of her wings and the two began to a downward spiral. “I have fought monsters thrice the size of you and remained victorious!”
“Not today's string bean!” She squawked out as she flips on her back as the two were falling so that the fire demon could break her fall.
It was a tense stand off as neither side gave in even when they were free falling, it was only when they were ten feet away from the ground did he jump off her. He hoped that this would have worked and broken a few of her bones, but alas it didn’t as she caught herself just before and stopped herself.
“Tch,” he clicked his tongue in agitation as he went in for another strike for her wings, only to get batted off.
“Ha, ain’t fooling me again Flicker! Or maybe that candle on your head is finally reaching its end!” She went for his neck only to get buffed by his hand grabbing her beak.
“I’ll show you who's reaching their end once I burn you into a fiery crisp that not even your brethren would want to feast upon!” He tried to keep her in his hold as he lit up, but she managed to kick free of his grasp.
“Ha! I like to see you try! My shithead brothers and sisters would eat everything and I’m not even counting the chicks that just hatched!” She flew up high and prepared for a dive bomb.
“Let’s find out!” His entire body began to lit up in flames as his eyes bore into her.
“They seem to be having fun,” Bohai said as he lazily watched them.
“Two people who like the thrill of the battle going at it, of course, they like this shit,” Minsheng scoffed as they laid down, “at least they're not doing battles to the death anymore, that usually gets bloody way too fast.”
“And leaves me having to deal with their injured asses,” Macaque grumbled as he petted the infant monkey's head.
“Your friends,” the jellyfish pointed out.
“I was forced into this,” he stated.
“And we’re still here,” the rabbit demon grinned.
“Unfortunately.”
MK and Mei, on the other hand, still couldn’t believe their eyes as they continued to see the arrogant demon that was trying to kill them happily fighting. Well the fight part not really, but the happy thing was a bit out of left field. They had walked into the sounds of fighting and, while still being very cautious as they remembered Mac and Ahmed's last fight, quietly tried to investigate what was happening. So to see this scene was a little jarring once they realized that the two were simply sparring with each other.
“Huh, I have to say this is the quickest redemption arc I have ever seen,” Mei mused, “not even a month ago he was trying to kill us and now he is all buddy buddy with Dad and his friends.”
“To be fair, I think they mentioned him before,” MK said.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” the said monkey popped in, “I have. I actually have known him longer than the both of you. His family sometimes would stop by for some items from time to time.”
“Huh, well that’s honestly not that big of a shock,” Mei pouted as they watched Red Son finally pin the vulture demon down.
“I told you, you can’t beat me! For I am Red Son, prince to the esteemed Demon Bull King and the mighty Princess Iron Fan!” He maniacally laughed.
“You're a prince!” He was startled out of it when two voices reached over to him.
“Indeed I am! Who dares step forward and-,” he stops himself mid sentence when he sees noodle boy and biker girl familiar faces. His face drops, “oh it’s you two.”
“Like I knew DBK was your dad and all, but it never occurred to me that you would be a prince with, well you know,” Mei hummed out.
“With what?” He growled the last bit out.
“With you being a reckless, two-bit side character that likes to leap before they walk,” she bluntly said.
“I am no mere Side Character!” He bowled out as his hair flame intensified.
“Aren’t you though?”
“I’m not”
“But you can be, like how I can totally be one as well.”
“I am no mere side character,” he spat out, “I am the antagonist that stands against the hero path! I am the flame of destruction that threatens to consume all! I am the prince of the feared and mighty who takes pride in oneself and all that they do!”
“…okay but aren’t some villains side characters?” She couldn’t help it, she was having way too much fun at this point.
“I AM NOT A SIDE CHARACTER!”
“I feel like we have gotten meta somewhere,” MK muttered out and then walked forward before Mei could say anything that would trigger the raging flame demon anymore. “Hi! I know we didn’t really introduce ourselves after…that, but I’m MK and she's Mei.”
“…Red Son,” he eyed the smiling boy in front of him, “and I already knew who you are, your father talks much about the two of you.”
“Awwww, fluffy head does,” Mei cooed as she turned to face Macaque, who was resolutely not looking in their direction.
“Wait, if you knew who we were, why did you attack?” The Monkie Kid couldn’t help but ask.
Surprising the both of them, the prince blushed a bit out of embarrassment as he muttered out, “I didn’t know it was the two of you in the first place.”
“How?!” Mei sputtered out. “Like we were probably screaming each other's names so many times?!”
“No! You peasants were just screaming! Nothing short of a name has ever come up in the middle of it all!”
“Wait-so that’s why you called me Noodle boy?”
“Noodle boy?” She snorted.
“Your biker girl,” he hissed out.
“Biker girl…hmm not that bad actually,” she put her hand under her chin, “though did you seriously just come up with that because of what we were doing?”
“Yes,” the demon unashamedly said.
Both humans looked at one another before they both laughed wildly.
“Hahaha! Holy shit, you are such a dork,” the dragon girl clutched her stomach.
“By the Gods, that is kinda adorable,” the monkey's successor was pounding his fist on the ground.
“I am neither a dork nor adorable!” The Bull prince roared out as he marched over to them in fury. “Take that back!”
“NEVER!”
“And thus the start of a beautiful friendship,” Macaque couldn’t help but say as the demon began to chase the two around.
“Yeah, I worked my back off for it,” Daiyu grumbled as she finally got off the ground from where Red Son was pinning her down. “That whole time I just wanted to throttle him at them just so I could feel my wings again.”
“Don’t worry, your wings have some use finally,” Minsheng couldn’t help but say.
Daiyu promptly smacked her wings against their head.
“What do you mean disappeared?” Mei asked MK when he rushed inside their super secret base.
“All I know is that they were shopping and now I can’t contact nor find either one of them!” MK freaked out as he gripped his staff. “What if they're in trouble?”
“Take a deep breath MK,” Sandy rubbed the human back, “we don’t know that, their phones could simply be out of batteries or they got lost talking to each other.”
“Even though they’ll never admit it,” he said.
“Exactly, but the shop isn’t open!”
That drew out sharp gasps as now they began to panic.
“He has never not opened his store before!” Sandy shouted as he gripped his hair.
“I think he’s been kidnapped!” MK screamed in agreement.
“I immediately fear the worst!”
Mei rushed over to one of the screens and began to type in a few things and up on the screen appeared both people talking to a lady.
“They haven’t been carted away to treacherous territories,” the giant sighed in relief.
“Oh thank god they're still shopping,” MK sagged in relief as he saw this, “wait Mei what is this?”
“I had cameras placed on all of you and you said this was creepy,” she has already lost her brother once, that was not about to happen again.
“That still is.”
“Oh look now they're following that nice lady, see they're just fine,” Sandy inputted as they watched the two slowly follow the woman shrouded in black when suddenly there was a trap that opened underneath them, “AH! I was wrong! I was wrong! This is bad! This is very bad!”
“Nightmare hole!” The twenty year old screamed out as Mei's eyes widened in shock, “what happened?”
“It looks like?” She began to enhance and zoom into the blurred picture and when it became clear it showed an eight legged spider lady standing above them all.
“A spider demon! Come on! No! Ew! Yuck! I do not want to mess with spiders of any kind! I hate spiders! Hate, hate, hate spiders! With their beady eyes and their creepy wiggly legs and their gross butt!”
“MK, right now that spider demon has our friends so you know what that means,” Sandy pumped them up. “It’s Operation save Pigsy and Tang from the Nightmare Hole!”
“Yeah!” Both teens pumped their fists in the air along with the cat.
“Should we call Macaque for backup,” Sandy asked as he started up the engine.
“Nope!” MK quickly said before Mei could, “we can do this on our own!”
MK slowly began to back away as the Spider demon loomed over him menacingly. She had managed to capture Sandy and Mei as well and only he was the last one standing. “I regret everything I said.”
“Aww, don’t tell me you're scared of spiders!” She said as she stepped into the light then that faint tickling in the back of his head finally eased up at the full reveal.
“Wait? I know you!” His jaw dropped as he saw just exactly who was standing in front of him.
“What?” They all shouted even Spider Queen who was stunned out of sheer confusion.
“No wonder you look familiar! Daiyu talks about you all the time,” MK stated as he lost some of his fear at the relief of finally knowing why she seemed so familiar.
Though as his fear was momentarily suppressed the Spider Queen was not as she blanched at the name, “you know Daiyu!”
“Oh yeah, she has a bone to pick with you after you ripped her off, she said something about wanting to pluck the meat off of your corpse after she gets done beating you to a pulp or something like that.”
“I am now concerned by that statement,” Pigsy said.
“Oh don’t worry, she’s a vulture demon,” Mei happily responded.
“That does not make it better.”
“Does for me sweetheart,” Tang smiled, “it makes sense for a vulture to go for a corpse because they are cartoons. It’s actually quite fascinating-,”
“Tang I love you, but please don’t say that as we’re currently being tied up like a lamb ready for the slaughter,” Pigsy begged.
“…what?”
The pig and human eyes widened at what both said, but luckily they didn’t have to say anything as the Spider Queen roared in rage.
“I may be a slicker, but I ain’t no sham when it comes to my silk! Tell that chicken legged, deep fried coward that I will personally send her down under if she even instigates that I would do that!” She roared in rage as she stood tall in MK, who promptly got scared once more as he realized what he just said.
“MK run!” Pigsy yelled out.
“Don’t need to tell me twice!” MK slid between the Spider Queen legs and he began to book it.
“Get back here little monkey boy!”
“I feel like I should tell Daiyu where Spider Queen has been hiding,” MK mused as they floated along the ocean.
“As long as I’m there, I really want to see her explode in fury before the bloodbath happens,” Mei snorted as she laid across the top.
“You know, I sometimes worry about you,” Pigsy looked at the young lady at that statement.
“Fuzz butt says that too.”
“Shouldn’t you listen to your doctor?”
“Shouldn’t you listen to what you said back at the cave, don’t you think just because we were tied up doesn’t mean I don’t have ears,” she teased as Sandy nodded.
“Wait, what happened?” MK looked at both of them in confusion.
Sandy leaned over and whispered what happened and the boy's eyes widened and sparkled with glee. “Ohohoho!”
“It was the slip of a tongue,” Tang said as he pushed up his glasses in nervousness. “Nothing more.”
“Yeah, what he said, just a slip of the tongue,” Pigsy twisted his hands.
“Some slip, some would say that it almost sounded like,” the twenty year old girl leaned in with a mischievous glint in her eyes, “an old married couple would say to one another.”
“WE ARE NOT A COUPLE!” They both shouted and they shared glances at each other only to catch a view of their red faces and promptly turn to face away from them.
“If you say so,” she backed off with her hands up.
“And we say so,” the pig crossed his arms.
“Very much so,” Tang copied.
Both Sandy and MK were in the background holding back their laughs as they could barely keep it together.
MK woke up to the shake of an earthquake and his whole world feeling off balance.
At first, he wrote this off as the aftermath of the earthquake as he quickly got ready for work as he prayed Pigsy doesn’t fire him. But as he walked down the street with his drink in hand he still couldn't help, but felt his whole world was just off balance, like everything was just missing a beat or so, it was the weirdest feeling.
“Maybe I just banged my head too hard, should probably ask Dad to check in case,” he muttered in his straw as he was about to yell out when he saw Mei standing in the middle of the road. “Mei, I’m glad you’re here!”
“Yes I am right here,” she grinned widely, “and what’s this about calling your Dad?”
“I don’t know if I have a concussion or something else, but something seems really off and I can’t put my finger on what,” he groaned.
“It’s nothing, just relax. Today is all about you.”
“Aren’t you usually the one who usually tells me to call him if things are getting too sticky to handle?” MK questioned as that off balance feeling was coming in full force.
“I am?” He could almost see her face contort for a brief moment before going back to her previous creepy grin, “I mean I am! But he’s probably busy doing stuff sweetie.”
“Sweetie,” he looked at her in pure disgust.
“I mean dear friend,” he never thought someone could grin that wide.
“Even when he’s in the middle of making medicine he always answers,” at this point he has begun to back up from Mei. He did not like just how off this whole thing was and it wasn’t helping that the crowd was just watching them.
“Don’t worry,” she ominously said, “I’m sure…”
“Macaque,” he supplied as he quickly got into position to bolt out of there as soon as he had the chance. This was definitely not Mei!
“Right Macaque will be just-!” Not just Mei, but the entire crowd of people's heads snapped towards MK.
“Did you just say Macaque!” They all yelled out.
“Yeah?!?” He was now more than freaking out as he looked for possible exits, he was not about to stay here a moment longer if he could. But then his whole world began to fade away as he saw the people just shake their heads and arms as they seem to glitch out.
“Nope, nuh uh, F this! Plan is officially done! Do not collect after Go! Finish!” He blinked his eyes as he saw that he was now in a shack and standing in front of him was a blue and orange demon. The blue one was just holding a jar of some kind, while the orange one was speaking.
“Done! Capital D.O.N.E! Done!”
“I think he gets it Jin,” the blue demon said.
“Well excuse me for being freaked out about this! Why aren’t you freaking out about this?!”
“Oh I am, one moment,” he said as he carefully put down the jar, “there we go….We freaking messed up so bad!” The demon began to panic, “like this is going to the top thirty bad.”
“Fucckkk!” Jin said as he gripped his hair.
“What is going on?!” MK yelled out his frustration as he collected the staff and kept a tight grip on it. “Who are you?!”
The two demons paused their freak out as they both dramatically posed.
“I am Jin!” The orange demon jumped up.
“And I am Yin!” The blue demon bowed low.
“And together,” they both said in sync as Jin landed on top of Yin back, “we are the Gold/Silver and Silver/Gold demons!”
There was a silence as both parties looked at each other before both brothers then began to fight over the name.
“It’s Gold and Silver nitwit!”
“No, it's Silver and Gold half bake!”
“Seriously, what is going on and why am I here?” He reiterated his point as that got the two to stop fighting.
“We heard about the great Monkie kid and knew he would be a worthy adversary,” Yin stated as he crossed his arms.
“Yes, so after our cunning plan we called out to you and you foolishly,” they both pointed to him, “answered.”
“…I was delivering noodles of course I was gonna answer,” his eyes twitched at the sheer ridiculousness of this.
“But you still answered and fell right into our plan to use you for our nefarious purposes!” Gin dramatically laughed.
“Until we knew that you were the Six Eared Macaque kid,” Yin added.
“Yeah before that,” he stopped his laughter, “we know we’re certifiably insane, but we ain’t stupid.”
“Yeah, we know better than to try to mess with what’s Macaque, I heard the last demon who tried that was tormented by him for a hundred days,” the blue demon shivered.
“I heard he once pulled the inside out of another demon just because he was having a bad day.”
“Well I heard he took on and defeated an entire army so that he could pass by.”
“I heard that he can suck some demon body and soul into a cursed item and make them fight for him.”
“Oh that one’s true,” MK butted in as at this point he sat down as he realized that they were not even a threat, just very amusing.
Both of them shivered as they looked at him in horror, “wait really!?”
“Yep!”
“Check that rumor off as being real,” Jin groaned as Yin held out a rather large book.
“Already on it.”
“What’s that?” MK asked.
“Oh it’s just a book with basically any rumors we happen to come across,” Yin proudly showed off, “most of them are probably not true, but it is amusing to hear. Like this one, it’s rumored that the Demon Bull King lost his horn after he insulted a deity and it broke off from sheer embarrassment after she had slapped him silly for a couple of hours.”
“Snrk!” He let out a sputter at the sheer ridiculousness.
“The Celestial Heavens is actually a conspiracy used to hide the good alcohol, cause if that shit was freely given the whole world would be gone.”
“Pffffft!”
“That we are actually all standing on a hand right now, but we just can’t see it.”
“Hahahaha!” MK let it out as he clutched his stomach. “These sound so stupid!”
“I know right!” Jin grinned, “that’s why we record them, cause they sound just so dumb!”
“They really do,” the Monkie kid said as he got his laughter back in control and sat back up, “so you're not gonna try to capture me again?”
“Like we said before, Monkey King is one thing, but we ain’t messing with Macaque. If you think Monkey King has a grudge, you should see that trickster when he really has time to think and plan on revenge,” the orange demon said.
“Ain’t nobody gonna get in his way,” the blue demon finished.
“Good!” He should probably ask about all his Dad’s revenge stories sometimes, he knows they would be good ones then a thought occurred to him as he scrunched up his nose. “So, why did you have Mei call me sweetie?”
“Ask Jin,” he pointed to his brother.
“Well, I thought since you guys are childhood friends and all you have feelings for one another, you know, like in the books and all that,” he shrugged his shoulders.
“Crush?! On Mei?! Grosss!” He yelled out as he can almost feel himself puke at the thought, “Yuck! No! God no! She is basically my sister!”
“I told ya.”
“You didn’t tell me shit.”
“Don’t fucking cuss around kids,” Yin hissed out.
“Well you should shut your damn trap!” Jin snarled back.
“Least threatening villains ever,” MK muttered to himself, “Wait? Did you seriously try to invoke the childhood friends trope? Like in romance novels?”
“Yeah!” Jin proudly stated.
“You read romance books?”
“You don’t? They are the best kinds of books with all the drama that surrounds them, the clashing of emotions, the tightly packed metaphors that can be placed in one paragraph to describe someone’s eyes. It's simply awesome! Have you read them?”
“Not really,” he admitted.
“I can give you some recommendations! Then we can-”
“Nope,” Yin drew his brother back, “we are not about to have a repeat of last time. Remember how you burned down the bookstore?”
“They deserve it for saying Ballad of the Desert was overrated,” he growled out.
“True, but we were supposed to be on the down low after nicking off with some bastard goods, I did not like having to run around with the gang on our asses, so we are leaving,” he deadpanned.
“Fineee!” He groaned out as the two suddenly stood upright and raised their hands. “We will meet again one day, Monkie Kid!” Then they threw down what was in their hands and a plume of smoke appeared in their spots.
“Bleh,” he waved the air around him as he heard a laugh and turned around to see them in the street.
“Hahaha! We’re the greatest tricksters!” Gin said with his arms crossed once more.
“Ever! Also please don’t tell Macaque about us trying to capture you! Thank you, bye!” Yin finished as the two disappeared in a flash of smoke for the final time.
MK could only stare at the empty space in pure shock as he tried to process just what happened.
“…I’m just gonna go back to the shop,” he gave up as he begrudgingly walked back to his car.
