ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘɪᴄᴋ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ(ꜱ) ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ?
most of my muses tend to be picked up by me watching a show/playing a game and going "hey, i like that guy!" and then not having the self-control to stop myself from adding them- lmaO this has kind of always been the case, even before i started writing on tumblr!
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?
there's a lot of stuff i don't really like writing. i'm not a whump person, and i tend to be bad at writing aggressive dom top characters in general. i'm also uncomfortable with pregnancy as a topic, even if i love the idea of characters raising kids together for the found family sort of dynamic that can lead to.
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ?
i'm a fan of both angst and fluff, mostly! i also really enjoy writing super detailed novella responses, getting deep into the weeds with a character and their thoughts. character explorations especially are fun. i think one of my favorite things to do with a long-running thread is to work in little surprises for my partner (that i have to stop myself from spoiling b/c i'm so excited about what i've got planned-)
ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?
i feel like a lot of my headcanons come from listening to music, tentatively linking it to characters, and then deciding that i'm going to strengthen that more by adding more details to a character. it's a plague, really.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ɪɴ ꜱɪʟᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴏʀ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴍᴜꜱɪᴄ?
i tend to treat writing responses like doing homework in that sense: i listen to music, but only music without lyrics, or with lyrics that i can't understand. otherwise i get too distracted. lofi girl and synthwave boy are my best friends.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴇᴘʟɪᴇꜱ ᴏʀ ᴡɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇᴍ?
generally speaking, i like to plan out the direction of things like threads. though when it comes to individual responses, i almost never plan them out before i sit down to write them. sometimes i'll stew on them for a bit, come up with a few ideas, and then navigate the process of writing my way up through those ideas.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ꜱʜɪᴘᴘɪɴɢ?
i do enjoy shipping! i don't have a lot of ongoing ships right now (because i usually find it hard to ask people if they want to ship with me since i don't have a lot of experience doing that lol) but i would love to have more <3
ᴡʜᴀᴛ'ꜱ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴀʟɪᴀꜱ/ɴᴀᴍᴇ?
i go by moon online! not my real name, of course.
ᴀɢᴇ?
over 21! in RP terms, i fall in the range of 21-25.
ʙɪʀᴛʜᴅᴀʏ?
april 20th. funny meme day, i know. the real comedy is when i'm not allowed to put my real birthday in when i'm filling out online forms b/c it will automatically get flagged as spam. it sounds crazy, but it's happened.
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ᴄᴏʟᴏʀ(ꜱ)?
mint green, my beloved <3
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜱᴏɴɢ(ꜱ)?
ever??? super hard question. right now, i'd say i've been listening to so you wanna marry daisy a lot, and i can't really explain why? something about the vibes. but this is definitely subject to change lol
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ᴍᴏᴠɪᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ?
pretty sure it was weathering with you! i watched it w my partner :3
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜱʜᴏᴡ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ?
i finally finished up the second season of spy x family! also with my partner. i,,, don't watch enough shows on my own lmaO
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜱᴏɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʟɪꜱᴛᴇɴᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ?
koi by hoshino gen. certified banger, btw.
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜰᴏᴏᴅ?
OOGH. probably fried rice or, like, garlic naan. i am a carb girlie through and through.
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜱᴇᴀꜱᴏɴ?
kind of torn between spring and fall. i love the vibes of spring -- everything turning green again, the rain, the way everything's starting to warm up. it feels energizing, like a fresh start. but i also love the vibes of fall -- the sweaters as it starts to get cold, the crunchy leaves, and the pumpkin pie. why pick one when you can have both?
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀ ᴛᴜᴍʙʟʀ ʙᴇꜱᴛ ꜰʀɪᴇɴᴅ?
hehe. hehehe >:3c

a/n: i hate this title but i LOVE this fic! i had so much fun writing it, obviously inspired by the tik tok trend lol. also when i started this fic last week, the cookies were different but then this week actually did include banana cream pie so i had to change them 😂 and then had to do a little rewrite obviously. but yeah, go check out the isles q&a on their favorite desserts bc they’re all adorable
tw: tooth rotting fluff, extremely minor insinuation of a daddy kink
word count: 2.3k
summary: you take advantage of mat’s sweet tooth to trick him into doing a tik tok video with you
“Hey,” you call out for Mat from your perch on the couch, one foot wedged in between the couch cushions and your phone resting on your thigh. You can hear him rummaging around in the fridge and the noise stops temporarily.
“Hey,” he calls back, “what’s going on?” The rummaging noises start up again and you grin to yourself. If he’s hungry, your little plan will work perfectly.
You crunch up into a sitting position and drape your arms over the back of the couch, watching Mat as he moves things around in the fridge, looking for something to eat. “Do you want to go to Chip City with me?” You ask. “I want to make like one of those TikToks, you know where they rate the cookies of the week?”
Mat’s nodding and closing the fridge before you even finish speaking. “Oh, hell fucking yes,” he grins, skirting around the kitchen island and stopping behind the couch. You reach out and tug at the belt loops on his jeans, laughing. “You know I’m always down for cookies.”
“I know,” you tease, unfolding from the couch and getting to your feet. “That’s why I suggested it. I can always count on you to validate my sugar cravings.”
He smiles his crooked little smile and readjusts his hat, the new Stay GOALd collaboration with Ralph Macchio, raking his hand through his hair before settling the hat on backwards. Your stomach flips a little at how good he looks. “Babe, we need to stop talking and start driving,” he says, totally seriously.
“Chill, Cookie Monster,” you follow him to the front door, stepping into your ratty Forces. The leather is more grey than white now and creased beyond belief, but they’re comfortable and you can slide them on and off without having to do the laces. “I doubt they’re going to run out of cookies in the ten minutes it takes to get there.”
“Never know,” Mat shrugs, tossing your car keys at you. You barely catch them, fumbling a little before your fingers hook on the beaded keychain. “Your car’s behind mine, you drive?”
You wrinkle your nose, when Mat’s home you’d rather be the passenger princess, but you also hate it when he readjusts your seat to fit his longer legs. “Fine,” you mumble, locking the door behind him, “but that’s the last bit of driving I’m doing all weekend.”
He swoops in to press a kiss to your forehead, “your wish is my command, Princess Squeaks.”
With a delighted smile, you hop into the driver’s seat of your car, turning it on while Mat buckles up in the passenger seat. He leans back in the seat, the brim of his backwards cap hitting against the headrest and popping the front of the hat off his head. “Damn,” he mutters, quickly fixing it and sitting forward. “So, wait, if you make one of those videos, what are the chances we get a Chip City influencer deal? Are we looking at free cookies for life?”
“Um, no,” you wince when you take a turn a little too quickly, clipping the curb. Hoping Mat will ignore that, you continue quickly, “I don’t think free cookies for life is a thing? Maybe some like coupons or extra point perks? Honestly, it’ll probably be nothing other than a comment and a like.”
“For life will be a really short period if you keep driving like a blind lunatic,” Mat teases you, laughing loudly when you lift your hand from the steering wheel to flip him off.
“You’re the one who told me to drive,” you counter.
Mat snags your hand out of the air and laces his fingers with yours, settling the back of his hand on the center console. “That’s only because I forgot what an insane driver you are,” he laughs, dramatically letting his body bounce forward and back in the seat when you come to a sharp stop at a red light.
You roll your eyes and make a point of driving exactly the speed limit and taking turns super carefully until you pull into the parking lot. When he hops out of the car, Mat wraps an arm around your shoulders and pulls you close to his side. You snuggle up, wrapping your arm around his waist, car keys jangling in your hand as you walk. “Babe, you can drive like Vin Diesel all you want when I’m not in the car,” he says as you walk up the sidewalk to Chip City. “Lou might consider it a breach of my contract if you drive like that when I’m in the passenger seat.”
“Breach of contract!?” You yelp, pinching his side while he lets loose one of his contagiously loud laughs. “You’re such a pain in the ass.”
“But you love me,” Mat states matter-of-factly, breaking contact with you to pull open the door and hold it for you. You hum happily, immediately hit with the delicious scent of baked cookies. Behind you, Mat lets out a quiet groan and you laugh at his dramatics. “Jesus, it always smells so good in here,” he falls into line behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder.
“If I worked here, I’d be three hundred pounds from sampling cookies every day,” you comment, turning to the mirror on the wall and lining up your face with the milk moustache decal for a selfie. You nudge Mat into place next to you and he crinkles his whole face up into a cheesy grin just for you. You snap the picture and shuffle forward as the person at the register leaves, moving the line up. Mat shuffles behind you, stepping on the heels of your sneakers and mumbling apologies.
While you wait, you look at the merch on the walls, joking with Mat that you’re going to get him the cookie shaped backpack for him to put his stuff in on game days. Before he can retort, you’re at the case and the worker is asking you how many cookies you want.
“Um, let’s do six?” You say, voice ticking up in a question for Mat. He nods, barely listening to you as he squints at the cookies. They’ll be gone in two days.
“Definitely need the cookies and cream,s’mores and oh, fuck yes, banana cream pie,” he points at each cookie as he names the flavor. “Babe?”
“I’ll do the specialty ones,” you say, “dark chocolate peanut butter, white chocolate macadamia, and brookie, please.”
“I love bananan cream pie cookie week,” Mat comments dreamily, looking like Pepe Le Pew when the cartoon skunk’s eyes turn into hearts when he spots the female skunk. He grins at you when you stick your finger in your mouth, fake gagging.
“Ugh, disgusting,” you shake your head. “Your love for banana cream pie is your biggest red flag.”
The woman behind the counter boxes everything up and you tap in your phone number to get rewards points before stepping to the side so Mat can pay. He smirks at you, tapping his card against the reader, and quietly, so no one else can hear, murmurs, “say ‘thank you, daddy.’”
A laugh startles out of your chest and you shake your head, cheeks flushing hot. “No, nope. I’m not saying that, Mathew.” Your fingers tremble a little around the box of cookies.
Mat’s hand is huge and warm on your lower back as he guides you out of the store, the sudden cool air a relief to your cheeks. He chuckles and flexes his fingers against your back. “Worth a shot,” he teases. “One day I’m gonna get you to say it.”
“It won’t be of my own accord,” you wrinkle your nose at him, stomach flipping a little bit. You refuse to analyze the excitement building low in your stomach and instead march determinedly back to your car. You had a plan for today and it didn’t involve Mat being called ‘daddy’ in a public place. Or any place. Or ever.
“We’ll see,” Mat jokes, pulling open the door for you to hop in and then going around the front of the car to get in on the passenger side. You drop the cookie box on his lap and he immediately picks at the tape holding it shut with his thumbnail, ready to snag a bite.
“Wait for me to get set up!” You chastise him, flicking his fingers away from the box with one hand and pulling up TikTok with the other.
Mat keeps picking at the tape, “no one’s gonna notice, I’ll just break it in half.” He finally manages to get the tape off and pops the lid open, dramatically inhaling the scent of the cookies. “Oh, fuck yes. Babe, what a good idea.”
You grin at him and make sure your phone is set in the holder attached to your windshield so both you and Mat are in the shot. “I literally only have good ideas,” you pull the box of cookies back into your lap, ignoring Mat’s protests. “Ready?”
He nods and you reach forward to start the recording. “Hi guys!” You chirp into the camera. “Happy Saturday, Mat has a rare day off so I decided to rope him into my fun. Say hi, Mat.”
Mat looks up from his phone and parrots, “hi, Mat,” with a shit eating grin on his face.
“He’s the worst,” you roll your eyes affectionately and hold up the cookie box so it’s in frame. “Anyway, I wanted to do something different than the usual Crumbl cookie sampling, and since Chip City is in our town, I figured this was the best thing. I invited Mat, because, well, I’m not sure if you know this but my husband has the biggest sweet tooth.”
You fight to keep your face in a neutral expression, but can’t help the corner of your mouth ticking up when you see Mat’s eyebrows lift nearly into his hairline on screen. His own mouth tips down in a slight, curious frown, but he doesn’t say anything.
So you continue, “it’s not anything like my mother-in-law’s peach cobbler, but Mat will kill a chocolate chip cookie in record time.” You shift in your seat, turning to face him, and keep your gaze locked on a point in the middle of his forehead, because if you look him in the eye, you’ll crack up. “Which do you want to try first, babe? Wait, let me guess, banana cream pie?”
There’s amusement in his tone when he holds out his hand and says, “oh for sure. Hand it over!”
He squints at you and you avoid his gaze when you pass over the cookie. Pretending to think, you look down at the box, “I’m going to try the dark chocolate peanut butter first, I think. Unlike my husband,” you smile at the camera, holding up the cookie while you break it in half to show the melted peanut butter swirls on the inside, “I like my desserts a little less sweet. Lemon bars, carrot cake, cheesecake, that kind of thing. Last week was lemon berry, which is a top three cookie for me.”
You can see Mat jolt in surprise again on screen, his head swinging to look at you. His eyes are wide and his lips are fighting a laugh.
“Yeah,” Mat smirks at the camera, breaking his own cookie in half and taking a huge bite. He chews and swallows before continuing, “the wifey is pretty picky on her desserts.”
Mat’s words sink in and you do a double take, jaw falling open a little. Mat’s grin turns shit eating and he takes another huge bite of his cookie while you blink stupidly at him. “What-?” You frown, ignoring the way your heart is pounding and your stomach is clenching with the echo of Mat saying ‘wifey’ in your ear.
He licks a spot of whipped cream off the side of his thumb and your core throbs.
“Uno reverse, Squeaks,” Mat laughs. “Do you think you’re the only one with Tik Tok?”
“Oooh,” you scrunch your face up at him, “you knew what I was up to?” He nods and your hand shoots out to push at his shoulder.
“Hey!” He yelps, chuckling. “I figured it out when you referred to Mom as your mother-in-law.”
You put your cookie back in the box and tap the record button on your phone, ending the video. “I honestly thought you’d have a better reaction,” you laugh a little, pulling your left foot up onto the seat and turning completely so you’re facing Mat. You shift the box too, so it’s on top of the center console.
Mat talks as he swaps out his banana cream pie for a piece of the s’mores, a string of marshmallow connecting the broken piece from the rest in the box, “why? Not a secret that I’m gonna wife you up in the future. I like hearing you call me your husband.”
He says it so casually, so easily, that it shocks you a little. When you first met Mat, you had thought dating him would be a fun time, but you’d never imagined that you’d be here - with him talking about marriage as if it’s a foregone conclusion.
“Well,” you murmur, feeling warm and content, “for the record, I liked hearing you call me wifey. So I guess we’re even.”
Mat looks up at you, hazel eyes lit up and glowing where the sun hits his face. He looks even more edible than the cookies. “You called me husband twice, don’t think we’re even just yet…” he drags out the pause with a sly smile on his face and you think he may use the w-word again, but he just lets the silence linger, the possibility hanging in the air.

Cultural reset...
These are just my own opinions and I think it's time I address this.
I had to google "cultural reset" to make sure I was using the term properly. New Google AI Overview says:
A cultural reset is when something significant in popular culture changes or is added, causing people to change the way they view things or to have a lot of people hop on the trend. For example, in K-pop, a cultural reset is a song that is very influential, usually one that gets pretty popular and many people love. It has a lot of influence over the K-pop fandom, and gets a lot of attention.
I did not ask Google AI Overview to specifically give me an example in K-pop. That's just my browsing history telling Google AI Overview that this bitch is obsessed... scary right?
(But I'm a little miffed that Google AI Overview generalized my BTS browsing history as K-pop because I don't look at or search up other K-pop artists. I am BTS only.)
Anyway, thank you Google AI Overview. Actually, I was more interested in styling concepts that are a cultural reset.
Let's stop stalling and just get into it.
I know none of us knew what to do with this Jimin when the photo folios dropped:
Definitely a cultural reset in my opinion.
We had never seen a Jimin like that before. Only in our fanfic-AI generated images imaginations had we ever thought...I don't think AI images was even a thing when this Jimin dropped on us.
Does anyone else have the urge to smooth the wrinkles and creases out of those pants for him? No? Just me? Ok.
Photo folio-black lace up leather gloved-patent leather panted-big chain belted-horny mask Jimin was a cultural reset for me and for many of us. The gloves really put it over the top. We'll never go back. He's covered from neck to foot except for a few slivers of skin. It's wild. It's just a smooth arm pit. Ok, before I run off the rails here... what was I saying? Oh yeah.
Also a cultural reset for me:
Every time I see this come up on my Youtube I watch it because it deserves all the views. Even the soundtrack was perfect.
I know Dora-the-Explorer haired Jungkook is not the favorite of some but I absolutely adore it... wait... sorry. There's a word there that I'm striking from my regular vocabulary from now on. Reasons.
This Jungkook was a cultural reset for me. He's never looked like this before and hasn't since in any concept photos. This was brilliant styling, I don't know if it was JK's regular stylist or if a Calvin Klein stylist did it but it was pure art.
He played that camera until the camera wilted, I just know it. I hope he grows his hair out long again when he's back with us.
And no shoulder booboo. I wonder when the shoulder booboo incident happened and I wonder if we'll ever hear the details.
While I'm talking about cultural resets, I have an honorable mention:
Not just this visual but the song too. PJM2 is coming. I feel another cultural reset coming.
Talking to my partner in crime the other day and I think a meeting DID occur where they detailed out a timeline for Project Naked Bangtan. Because they weren't going to go full frontal on us cold turkey. (Somehow all those words together sound hideous but you get my meaning.)
Regardless of Tae and his proclamation that "Chapter 2 isn't about us taking off our shirts" it is about showing a more mature side of themselves which inevitably is going to lead to showing some skin and some cuss words. Little did we know.
I can imagine how it went down in the brainstorm meeting of them trying to come up with content to fill in the time until they are all discharged...on a whiteboard possibly... because some of us are visual learners... someone drew a timeline of nakedness, possibly for each member.
I can hear it now:
RM: "We have to ease them into it. Who's first?"
Jin: "Hyung will do it." LMAO
What's been your Jimin and Jungkook cultural resets?
#trying to stay away from the ongoing real and fake drama#so my other option is thirst#jikook#kookmin#jimin#jungkook#yes still missing them since no sign of them this past week#making up my own drama of pretty pictures#these two are art in motion#cultural reset

Jack Harlow x Reader : TIKTOK DANCE
*Mia decides to do a viral tiktok dance with this song 👇🏼* idea from @hoodharlow 💕
“Mommy, can we do a TikTok dance.?” Mia asks you, walking into the living room.
“Oh yes.” You answer excitedly. “Which one baby?”
“This one.” She hands you the iPad, and goes to your private family account and shows you what trend she wants to do.
You don’t give the kids any screen time during the week, but on the weekends you let them use the family iPad for an hour give or take.
When Mia or Ezequiel are on tiktok it’s usually supervised, you and Jack make sure they watch appropriate content.
But you have been playing that song a lot when you and Mia run errands. Plus her godmother recently did a song with him. So when she met him backstage at Coachella she fell in love with his blinged out spider man chain.
“Okay, this seems pretty easy. Who does what?” You ask her, as you set up the iPad.
“You, then me.”
You two were practicing for a while until you got it right. Just when you were about to film the actual video, your favorite boys walk in.
“What you doing momma?” Ez asks, looking at the set up.
“We’re gonna do a video, Cheesy.” Mia answers for you.
Jack and Ezequiel sit down on the couch and look at the both of you waiting to do your thing.
“Compa que le párese esa morra, la que anda bailando sola.” Mía sings loudly with her eyes closed while the both of you dance.
“ABSOLUTELY NOT, NO NO NO.”
You and Mia freeze.
“What? What’s wrong?.” You ask him confused.
“My daughter singing and dancing to that song is a big no.” He stands up, shaking his head. “And to the song of the one guy fans are shipping you with, nope.”
“Babe-“ You chuckle at his silly jealousy.
“I said no Y/N.”
“But daddy, it’s just a song.” Mia shrugs, but is amused by her dad’s reaction.
“I said no Alize Mia Harlow.” Jack says more sternly.
“WHY ARE YOU SO MEAN??” Mia yells, pushes at his stomach and runs off crying, you could only assume to her bedroom since after a few seconds you hear a door slam.
You glare at your husband. “What is wrong with you?”
“She’s six, she doesn’t need to be dancing and singing to that. I know what it says.”
“Oh so you know fluent Spanish out of nowhere?” You take a deep breath. “Why aren’t you letting her express herself creatively? She’s having fun, we’re having fun doing a silly TikTok trend.”
Jack shrugs and sits down next to Ez who’s just glaring at his dad. “She can express herself with another song that isn’t his”
You roll your eyes, look at your son “Earmuffs mijo.” Ezequiel covers his ears.
You glare back at your husband. “Jackman, be fucking for real right now!!!! You’re getting mad at our daughter over something silly.”
You look back at Ezequiel and nod, he then uncovers his ears. “Let’s go check up on sissy, while your dad thinks hard about his actions.”
You are entering Mia’s bedroom and you see her sitting on the middle of her bed looking sad.
“You okay sissy? Dad was big mean.” Your son runs to your daughter's bed and sits next to her.
Mia only shrugs.
“Baby bug, daddy didn’t mean it.” You sit down next to her and brush her hair out of her face.
“He yelled mama, he never yells.” She says through hiccups.
You sigh, “I know baby, maybe he needs a nap time.” You hug her.
“No excuse mama, he needs to use soft and nicer words.”
Just then the door opens. “You are one hundred percent right Mia, I should use nice words.”
“You hurt my feelings daddy.”
You and Ezequiel are hugging Mia, and staring at Jack.
“I’m so sorry princess.” He’s walking towards the bed and kneels on the floor, his elbows touching the mattress.
“It was just a silly thing I was feeling and I took it out on you. Which is never acceptable.”
Mia nods. “I forgive you.”
Jack smiles sadly at her. “You can go back to doing your video.”
“I do it with yous Mia.” Ezequiel cheers and hops off the bed, Mia following behind him.
Now it’s just you and Jack in Mia’s bedroom, you’re staring at him but don’t say anything.
“I’m sorry baby.” He says after a while of being silent.
“Hmm.”
“I got jealous that every dude at Coachella was checking you out. Then I go on Instagram and see fans are saying you two make a cute couple, and it just got to me.” He sighs. “I shouldn’t have dumped that onto Mia, she did nothing wrong.”
You nod. “Whose ring is on my finger?”
“Mine.”
“Who’s last name do I have?”
“Mine.”
“And whose children did I give birth to?” You ask him.
“Mine.”
“Okay so get that through that big head of yours. I don’t care about anyone else. I love you, you’re my man, my husband, and no one is taking me away from you.” You tell him. It’s rare for Jack to get jealous, and you never had to reassure him of your relationship, so it’s catching you off guard.
“I know bubs, I just panicked and the fact that your brothers liked every comment made me even more panicked.”
You roll your eyes at that and laugh. “He’s a huge deal right now in the Latino community. My brothers are fans, of course those losers would hit like to that. But also because they want me to collab with him.”
He nods. “Should we go see if Mia and Ez got the video down?”
You nod and follow him out the door and back to the living room.
“So.” Mia says smiling, putting her hands on her waist. “Nino Urby called.”
“What did he say?”
Ez and Mia share a look. “Daddy you think mommy loves Pluma?”
“What? No.” Jack answers.
“I saw the video where he says hi to momma, he smiling like when you smile at momma.” Mia says.
“IN LOVE.” Ez yells.
“Kids no.” You’re shaking your head.
“Nina and Momma and Pluma are friends. Why are you and Nino so jelly?” Mia asks, rolling her eyes.
“I AM NOT JELLY.” Jack exclaims.
“Hmm sure you’re not.” Mia looks at you and smiles. “He’s so silly.”

I need your headcanons I don’t care which character which fandom I need headcanons because you seem awesome now give them to me /affectionate
ARGHHHH IM SORRY THAT THIS TOOK SO LONG TO ANSWER?!?!? i was drawing the pookies to go with these hcs
i jumbled all my favs together and yeah have some silly hcs (thisll prolly be rlly short, or not) not in a set order so good luck finding the characters from fandoms you know 😈/hj
CHARACTERS MENTIONED IN THIS!! Idia Shroud, Cater diamond, Mime Bomb, Weeping Clown
- Cater once played this dress up game for fun (or to make some content out of it), got some HARSH constructive criticism, never played again (person who insulted gave him advice was idia)
- Weepy often puts wax on the hair in front of his face to keep it out of his eyes while performing. (totally not based on an oc x canon thing i thought of.)
- Mime Bomb often has makeup residue around his eyes, making him look more tired than he already is. He struggles to get it out and also doesnt see the point bcs 9 times out of 10 hes gonna be hopping on another flight anyway!!!!
- Idia is half filipino. dont try and change my mind YOU CANNOT
- Cater has freckles and used to cover them up around highschool - year one in NRC. maybe because of insecurity or to follow the current "trends". maybe both!!!!!1!1!1!1! probably still does it to this even better if no one actually knows if his freckles are real or nah
- Mime Bomb knows how to draw! always uses himself as a reference when he can. loves drawing hands
- weepy is a jack of all trades, master of none. he'd observe and learn other peoples crafts silently from other people at the circus! even if he's not that good at most of them, he knows the basic stuff.. maybe.
- Cater often puts white eyeliner on to brighten up his eyes!!
- i think idia likes watching those process videos on sculpting and carving, just traditional art in general.
- cater probably likes to deconstruct a bunch of stuff, mainly content-making related things and especially music! I saw someone mention how passionate he seems about music based on the details in his room (might sound like a total idiot rn if those details were disclosed in one of the vignettes or something) so in my heart it seems like something he'd totes do. he's also a very detail oriented person so !1!1!1!1!1
- Joker dislikes popcorn, also smells like stale buttered popcorn(/hj)
- mime bombs skin is either hella sensitive or the complete opposite. I can see him either hoarding this one brand of makeup cuz it's the only one he can use, or his skin is THAT ok with any product that he's fine with using VILE products 😭
- I like to believe that Jokers hair is either a wig (or he dyed it) and he's a brunette. or he's just silly like that yk (the most likely possibility)
- Cater has an old list of piercings he wanted/wants, idk which ones he'd want but yuh!!! maybe he got a piercing when he was younger but got caught soooo
- Idia hates oily foods
this is probably it
also have the drawings that took TOO DAMN LONG.
"one is not like the other!!!!!" ahh favs 😭🙏
these are sort of my hcs on how they'd look? or at least a reference for myself for when I draw them again, I'm too inconsistent
random, but idias hair being so expressive is my most favorite detail about his character
I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY SPELLINV MISTAKES
—
ok these took too long thank you bye
#dont mind how unorganized this is gang#may or may not have repurposed some of my old hcs for mime bomb#ALSO DRAWING IDIA. SO FUCKING FRUSTRATING I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY THIS TIME. oh thank god no one’s sent you kuki yet. kuki for the ask game :3
yeaayyyyyyy thank u for the ask :D no one sent him bc they were waiting for u to send obviously
favorite thing about them: misunderstood asshole. all my faves are misunderstood assholes to some extent but he honestly does it so well. as you said, he's allergic to his own heart GOD thats such a good way to put it. i love him.
least favorite thing about them: i genuinely have always loved him sm no one gets him like me this is so hard uhhhhhhh i could always say i'd want to see more urie but that feels boring...i think it would have been nice if he appreciated shirazu before like. right as he died. but i like to watch him suffer
favorite line: "we'll just become terrorists" like i think that was the first time he was so forthright about how he was feeling.
brOTP: definitely him & saiko. see answer to last point.
OTP: i love mutsurie, but i also love him and shirazu (*cough cough* angsty fic dropping soon)
nOTP: i've never seen anyone genuinely ship him with matsuri but that would be a no from me. i actually don't think it's hot when someone's boss holds a promotion over their head to get more attention from them 👍
random headcanon: coming back to my urie dance headcanons. he's good at ballet, but, as is common for ballerinas, he can't do hip-hop AT ALL. i think saiko begs him to do trending dances with her (particularly if they involve shaking ass in any way) and then saves them as blackmail material "yonebayashi can you pls clean up your dishes i-" "don't make me post the water challenge" "...never mind"
unpopular opinion: i agree with what you said that he should have gotten to kill reaperneki bc wtf was that. i do think it was nice to see him sort of half forgive kaneki towards the end. i'm a grudge holder personally but it's honestly not very healthy, so i think it was nice to see him move on, at least a bit. (but also there's this scene in jjk where megumi & nobara throw yuuji over a bridge while he's all tied up to get back at him for something, i think urie should get to do that to kaneki)
song i associate with them: recently talk by hozier because it's the song that inspired my angsty shiraurie shirurie whatever yk what im saying fic
favorite picture of them: this pic almost made me not a lesbian (if i saw him irl i would run away)

What is your favorite thing about SGE series and why?
I have multiple favorite things, so you can expect me to elaborate for a while.
One of my favorite things from the series is Soman’s novel concept of "psyche travel," and for christening it with an actual name.
I’ve only seen this concept in a few other, more science-fiction or speculative type of stories, like the Divergent series, The Giver quartet, "The Veldt," a fascinating short story by Ray Bradbury (which TOTSMOV41 is very much inspired by) and the Artemis Fowl series, which involves time manipulation that wasn't strictly time travel (which is far more commonly seen in fiction). And I love Soman's more fantastical spin on psyche travel! To me, the concept was previously called "mental landscapes" or simply "simulations" of reality. "Psyche travel" as a term is just far broader and more versatile, and I feel like you could do more with it, experimentally.
In fact, I would've loved it if Soman could've left more room in his tight plots to explore human consciousness and "the cauldron of the unconscious" more in TCY, so I will be doing exactly that with the themes in my longfic TOTSMOV41. If anyone wants to know more about TOTSMOV41, I'll redirect you to this table of contents/introductory post.
My fic's entire premise reflects how much I loved that one scene in ACOT. It was absolutely brilliant, especially with the edited views of what reality once was, how subjective memory could be. Plus, in that moment, ACOT managed to combine a few of my major interests: psychology and how generally error-prone the human mind and memory are, surreal imagery in literature, and delving further into SGE’s soft, irrational/nebulous, thematically-relevant magic system. (The way I see it, problems are more often unintentionally created than intentionally solved with magic, and we understand little of it, what goes on magically, really, and can't logically extrapolate what the characters could possibly do said magic. So, the magic is framed as unstable and flexible, even while it does reflect the state of the world and the important relationships in the tales. Thus, that's how I might classify the SGE system. You're welcome to disagree on which type of magic system it is though!)
The following points are probably more obvious:
First, Soman’s prose and images overall are enthralling, and his use of VERBS, especially, rivals few authors that write for a younger demographic, at least in my opinion. It’s often just so well done. It's the little things, like using "scalded" or "pinked" instead of "blushed" that I love. Soman's use of language is so inventive at times, and I love trying to imitate it. Verbs can make or break a piece of writing in my mind.
Also, I love the extravagance and length and readability of this particular book one sentence that I think is underrated for the sheer exasperation embedded in it:
“After chastising her for slipping in the Ever ranks, explaining every assignment thrice, and berating her to cover her mouth when she coughed, Pollux finally left in a circus of hops and falls.”
It’s fabulously sweeping and exhaustive.
In addition, the third person omniscient pov is less common nowadays, I think. So much of middle grade and YA is in first person these days, so it may be a trend, for its immediacy. Though, I tend to prefer third person, even if my preference also generally depends on how well the work was executed.
I love SGE for its basis in fairy tales since I loved reading the classic Grimms' fairy tales before I discovered SGE—they were probably my favorites for a while (and still sort of are, alongside SGE). And they inhabited my storytelling before I ever discovered more subversive things existed. Thus, it's the overall darkness and the dramatics I find compelling about Soman's work.
The cleverness in the writing, when it’s well-executed, is phenomenal. And this applies to two aspects: first, Rafal, obviously, and second, the plot structure itself.
When I say Rafal, I mean specifically during the moments in which he shows off his conniving craftiness, his prowess at outfoxing others. And I love any instances of scenes in which he tricks or outwits people and systems.
Someday, I’ll have to remember to discuss the Fala-shoe-fairy-kiss scene from Fall, one of my favorites ever, in a future post. Those particular thoughts must be somewhere in my scads of drafts... I’ll have to look for them. For now, I will give you any thoughts I have now:
I'm referring to the scene in which Fala lures a fairy with a golden kiss and traps it in his shoe without a single word of verbal explanation, and he expects everyone to intuitively follow his genius thought process, the solution to their dilemma. Then, everyone, except Aladdin, manages to catch on, when they watch his demonstration.
Here's an (exaggerated?) approximation of how I'd imagine his internal monologue could've gone:
Watch and learn, youths. I’m better than you. In innumerable ways, and this is one. But fear not! I will lead you to success. No one else is capable of doing it. Yes, I will take on this burden myself. Give me all the credit. But don’t even bask in my cleverness, even if it deserves your attention. My actions speak for themselves. Just get the task done. Now. We don’t have all day to dilly-dally like inane cowards.
I will redirect you to this post, if you would like to read more about how I happen to interpret Rafal's "trickery," or rather, absence of trickery, perhaps.
And for my second spiel on the series' cleverness, elaborating on its predictable unpredictability, on a structural level, even if I only saw it in hindsight:
I love any kind of legerdemain or sleights of hand, or twisting of plots, except the devastating Fall one, I suppose. And there is something very characteristic of SGE I've observed: there are often, very, exceedingly late third act turning-points. These points are likely hallmarks of the series, to the extent that I've come to expect them by now, especially after Rise, and sometimes, I'm probably actively on the lookout for them when I read other books. Besides, Soman likes to lull readers into a false sense of security, that much we can probably confirm.
Furthermore, these turning-points seem to take two forms and you can literally only expect one of two things to happen.
It's either: 1) the characters reach a point of what should be a settled peaceable resolution, that is then rapidly negated, or 2) the characters reach a darkest-night-of-the-soul moment, the prospect of temptation in the story, often for an individual, and wishes are granted (often in subversive, unfulfilling ways to almost everyone's dismay).
Examples:
1) In Rise and TLEA: you think you are safe, that you're out of the dark Woods (which often represent the darkness of the soul or the human psyche as a symbol) but you're not. There is no built-in "warmth" to the narration, as Soman puts it in one of his interviews. This all is literally the narrative's "liar's tell" or "slip" in the third act, a revisiting of conflict, the reopening of the tale. You know there is more disaster to come. The ride is not over yet, however much you may think or desire it to be so.
In AWWP, characters say and believe the wrong things, are misled, and narrowly miss a possible "happy" ending because Sophie felt alienated enough to choose Rafal, who chose her.
In TLEA, we think everything is resolved, but all of a sudden, we get one more little impact, a jolt, that not all is well or completely restored, the moment Aric kills Lady Lesso.
In Rise, when Rafal is revived and reclaims the Schools from Vulcan, setting everything back into their original, proper forms, back to order, we think we've averted all crises, and have reverted back to the status quo. But, that resolution, again, is only momentary. Supposedly, Rhian's Evil, his rot, was awakened, and the moment Rafal considers leaving again and does, to seek out a new replacement student, is when the plot begins to race downhill again. When Rafal leaves, he leaves a gap for Rhian's poor judgement to bleed through, and Rhian hires Hook, effectively setting off the second wave of awful plot events in Fall. Rhian sort of resurrected old conflicts, and breathed new life into them.
2) Before the Great War in TLEA and the climax, we get tonal signposting that nearly "all is lost," that we're approaching, marching towards our imminent demise. There's an ever-present fog of "Abandon all hope, ye who enter" because if there's anything Rafal's good at, it's cultivating an air of stifling oppression. Hence, we have the narrow aversion of the darkest moment:
Agatha (unlike prequel Rafal with Evil Rhian) doesn't use the wrong emotional appeal. She gets through to Sophie, she and Tedros aren't executed, and Sophie destroys the ring, killing Rafal. Despite everything that said otherwise, that said Good would lose.
Lastly, a few other bits I appreciate are the roles the Seers play in the series, the meta aspects of the Storian (or Lionsmane) and the tales in general, and the names of a lot of the proper nouns such as the kingdomsI don't know why I love some of them. The alliteration is oftentimes fun, and the names feel right and plausible.

Wednesday, September 11th, 2024.
Which fictional character can you not stand? There aren't any that I can't stand. I can't even think of a character that just really annoys me. I mean, some can be annoying (or snooty, manipulative, backstabbing, or whatever), but in the context of the story, it's fine.
What was the one subject in school that frustrated you because you just couldn’t process it? Math. I was okay at Algebra and Geometry, but once I reached Algebra II/Trig, my understanding of core concepts wasn't strong enough to carry me any further.
What’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever gotten? I don't think I've ever received an especially weird compliment.
What is an occupation that you would like to do just for one day if you had the chance? I wouldn't want to actually do the job, but I think it would be interesting to shadow someone in nursing. I've just heard so many horror stories that it's become like a morbid fascination.
What do you think people have an unnecessary stick up their ass about? Anything and everything. Pretty much whatever subject you look into, there will be someone there with a stick up their ass about something.
What common advice do you think never works? Idk but lately I've felt stuck between "just ignore it" and "speak up." Neither option has produced satisfactory results so far, so maybe it's time to break out of the binary and try something completely chaotic and unexpected. ;D
What’s the best movie without a happy ending? I'm not sure.
What is something you think is actually better about today’s generation? This obviously isn't true everywhere, but overall living conditions, medical and technological advancements, transportation, access to information and communication, etc. Some of those things can be a double-edged sword or have certain pitfalls, but you know. Probably better than being a peasant in the Dark Ages. But if we're talking about people specifically, then…hmm. People are people wherever you go.
What movie has a worse love story than Twilight? I'm not much of a movie watcher, but I'm sure there are far worse love stories than Twilight.
What seems obvious to you that doesn’t seem to be for other people? That "the government" isn't hiding any aliens.
If your partner in the zombie apocalypse was the main character of the last movie you watched, would you survive? The last movie I watched was Inside Out 2, so unless the little emotion avatars in that teen girl's head can pull some seriously lucky levers, we're fvcked.
What’s the worst episode of your favorite TV show? I don't have a favorite TV show.
You can pick two artists to do a song together, dead or alive, but they have to be from different genres. Who do you pick and why? I can't think of any particular artists, but as far as genres go, maybe some heavenly and numinous choir music merged with some dark and gritty rap/hip-hop. It has potential okay!!!
What is something you would never buy again, even if you were rich? A house (or cabin or apartment or whatever) with carpet. If I could live somewhere with exclusively wood or tiled flooring, I would be so happy. Carpets are just gross.
What do you do regularly despite it being considered very unhealthy or unsafe? Smoke cigarettes.
What is something that most people find attractive in a person that you find unattractive? I can't think of anything that I find unattractive, but there are common beauty standards that are just like…eh. They don't do it for me.
Do you ever use facial masks or scrubs? I've used facial masks a few times. I don't think I've ever used a scrub, though.
What do you think of the recent trend of adult coloring books? I don't have an opinion regarding the trend as a whole. They're nice as a concept and I do own a couple of them, but I just don't have the patience.
Which fictional character do you think you’d be great friends with? I have no idea.
What would you do if you found out your toys came to life similar to Toy Story? Probably go through something like the 5 Stages of Grief, but with way more emotions. Fear, horror, sadness, guilt, embarrassment, confusion…
Do you own any cook books? We have quite a few. But do I ever use them? No.
Is there anything that you’d like to eat right now? I'm not all that hungry, but cashew chicken, fried rice, and cream cheese wontons sounds good.
What book are you currently reading? A Short History Of The World by H. G. Wells.
What is something that you believe in, but aren’t very outspoken about? I'm not very outspoken about any of my beliefs. I'm just not an openly opinionated person. I like to feel people out before getting into any kind of discussion because I'm not someone who enjoys confrontation or debate.
do you think weird it’s for someone to have never tried soda? I guess it would depend on where they lived. If they were in the US, then I would think it was…if not weird, then highly uncommon.
is there any foreign film you recommend? Naw.
do you have the same religious beliefs as your parents? There are definitely some overlaps. My dad is Jewish and my mom is what I would call casually spiritual. If you made a Venn Diagram of their truest beliefs, then I would probably fall somewhere in the middle. Then there are my own interpretations and understandings which expand into territory beyond either one of them. Overall, though, I think I have more in common with my dad because he's a deep diver within his own religion, and religion and spirituality are topics that interest me. We can have some really great discussions on the matter.
which floor of your house/building are you on now? I'm on the second floor.
are there any maps hanging in your room? No.
are you often a third wheel? or is someone a third wheel to you? I felt like that for the longest time at the animal shelter. I knew people generally liked and appreciated me, but I wasn't really fitting in. However, I don't feel that way as much now, not with the new batch of workers back in cattery. I'm still kind of third-wheely (because I'm shy/socially awkward and also a good deal older than they are), but not to the same drastic extent. I feel much more included, relevant, and free to be my silly and sarcastic self. I had it in my head that the problem might be me (and admittedly, some of it probably was and I do still have some work to do), but now it's like…oh. I was likeable the whole time?!?!
what’s the last dvd you bought? I'm not sure.
tell me about your favorite pair of jeans. I don't have a favorite pair of jeans. I basically don't even wear them anymore.
would you ride a motorcycle if given the chance? (or have you?) I've been on the back of one a few times, but I don't think I would like to ride one myself. Driving a car is enough responsibility for me.
is your hair healthy? Ehhh.
if a hotel offered free breakfast in bed, what would you order? I'd go all out. Pancakes, bacon, eggs, biscuits, maybe some fruit, coffee…
how often do you take a train? Aside from the kiddie train at the city park, I don't think I've ever been on a train. I might have gone on the one at the Royal Gorge, but I can't be certain that's a real memory and not some false recollection I settled on after the fact.
what’s your favorite led zeppelin song? Kashmir.
does your home have a balcony/deck/porch? We have a back deck and a front porch.
what does your closet/wardrobe say about you? That I spend a lot of time at an animal shelter. Probably half of my shit is animal shelter shit.
do you enjoy theatre? I don't not enjoy it. It's just not really my thing. I wouldn't want to be in a play, but I would probably go see one with someone if they wanted me to.
how would you feel about traveling abroad alone? Scared, unprepared, inexperienced, lonely, bored…like I had so much to share and no one to share it with. I'd much rather travel with someone.
who would you call a lyrical genius? Idk.
how do you treat yourself? It's time to make dinner, so I'm going to pause this here (9.10.24) and resume it sometime tomorrow… Okay. I just arrived home from a trip to the Mountain Park - which is one of the ways I plan on treating myself this autumn. I feel like I've spread myself too thin with volunteering, so I'm going to take a step back, take an extra day off here and there, and spend more time in the mountains with my dad. Other ways I treat myself include eating fun/favorite foods (so excited for holiday treats!), making time for art, and curling up in bed with my kitties and some YouTube.
do you have an interesting passport? I don't have a passport.
are you going to pursue a career according to what you enjoy? Yeah.
what’s your favorite frozen treat? Ice cream. You know what else I've been enjoying lately? Otter Pops. They're not typically something I would think to eat, but they're great for hot afternoons at the shelter when I need a quick chill out/sugar rush combo.
who supports you financially? Social security and my dad. We share our incomes.
if you wanted to go to the movie cinema, how would you get there? I would drive (or be driven).
how many pillows are on your bed? Two regular pillows, three body pillows, and two decorative pillows.
would you pay more for organic food? I might if I preferred the taste of a certain brand, but otherwise it's not something I pay much attention to.
do you prefer being awake after everyone goes to bed or before they get up? I don't really have a preference.
do you know much about feng shui? (do you use it?) I know very little, and no, I don't use it.
how would you make friends in a quiet class? Make meaningful eye contact? Lmao heck if I know. I'm quiet myself, so if other people are quiet, then it's just gonna be quiet.
are you generally a quick learner? Yeah.
what’s your favorite spot to read? At my computer desk.
did you know that buddha is not considered a god to buddhists? I was aware of that.
do you save tickets from movies, etc.? Not really.
without looking him up, who was jim morrison? The vocalist for The Doors.
when’s the last time your bedroom was painted/wallpapered? Gosh, idk. As far as painting goes, that would have been years and years ago. It wasn't even finished. As for the wallpaper, that was put up before we moved in.
teach me something in another language. Naw.
what type of music do you like and why? I've developed a fondness for classical over the past couple of years.
if you randomly want to eat something in the house, do you eat it or wait? It depends on what it is, what I've already eaten, how close it is to meal/snack time, etc.
who knows the most about you (besides yourself)? My dad.
do you have a nervous habit? (e.g. biting nails, tapping feet, smoking) Picking at my nails.
how’s your favorite pro sports team doing lately? I don't follow any sports teams.
would you be/are you a good role model to a younger sibling? No.

Do you ever get super bad buzzing in your ears? Only during situations that I come from somewhere that's super loud then I'm all of a sudden somewhere that's quiet.
Do you know anyone who has actually been in an alcohol or drug related crash? As far as I know, no. I'm reminded of an ugly crash we witnessed inside the neighborhood - it was a car that slammed right into a post, and it was a Sunday morning. There's a part of me that theorized 'alcohol-related' but we never did hear anything about the accident.
What is so wrong with cigarettes? They kill your insides, they make you look older, they stain your teeth, and the smell sticks to you.
Did you celebrate Fathers Day? We did but it was a little lowkey this year. Father's Day happened to be the day after we arrived back in Manila from Vietnam, and we were just so fucking tired. It wasn't even the day after – we literally landed in Manila at 4 AM on Father's Day.
In the morning we were up for like 2 hours to pick up the dogs from the doggie daycare we had them stay at + have lunch, but then we all went back to sleep the entire afternoon lol. Then that evening we went to church and ordered takeout from Chowking (my dad's favorite) to have at home. It was lowkey as the whole family needed it to be lowkey, hahaha.
Do you actually think you’re funny? I know I am around the right set of people. My humor doesn't make absolutely everyone else laugh, though.
Have you ever had a deep conversation with someone who was high on anything? No.
Do you ever wonder if there really is someone who can complement your personality well enough to stay together for the rest of your life? It does cross my mind sometimes, yes. But then I remember how my last relationship ended and how that can always happen again, and it becomes a lot easier to remember how I'm much better off alone.
Do you hate how being bisexual is like a trend? I never thought of it as one. People around here also don't treat it as such...if you're bi, you're just bi.
Have you ever gotten a professional massage? Just once before, but I hated how they made me strip down. I told them no, but they said it was a part of the package blahblah; and being non-confrontational, I went ahead and did it but I hated every bit of it and told myself I'd never do it again.
Do you have a good relationship with your first love? We do not talk.
What is something you’re currently nervous about? Work, and what possible tasks are out there waiting to pounce and give me my next anxiety attack. As has been going on for the last 4-5 weeks...
Do you have a popup blocker installed on your computer? Idk if it's the same thing but I have an ad blocker extension.
Do you feel like you have life figured out? I definitely do not feel that that's the case right now. I have my sights set on resigning, but have no particular next direction yet. I'm torn between wanting to use some time off to rest, and being pressured to hop to the next job. What I have going for me, I guess, is that I'm okay with either option – I'm leaving my fate to a theoretical spinning wheel and see where life takes me. And wherever it takes me, I at least know that I'm mentally capable of making the most out of it.
Have you ever used a laptop in a coffee shop? Yes. Sometimes my best work comes out in coffee shops.
What was the last worst feeling you felt? Apart from work which-is-technically-the-right-answer-but-I-don't-want-to-get-into-it – the second answer here is the VERY complicated feelings I have for Liam Payne. The man I grew up with and brought me years of happiness is very different from the man he transformed as in the years following One Direction. And yet, either way, the man is dead. There's so many nuances, so many layers to it that makes the grieving journey extremely complicated. It's hard to put into words.
I'm sad about a Human Being dying, and I'm sad about One Direction's cursed fate, and I am sad about the universe never giving Liam a chance. But I am remain angry with him for all the messy fuckery he said about the band that gave him a platform in the first place, and the messy fuckery he did to his exes. It's like, it's sad, but I also do not intend to let you off the hook.
Do you ever tend to over-analyse? Yes.
Do you know anyone that like, no matter WHAT, they’re always pissed off? I feel like work has influenced me to be like this some days, which makes me sad. I'm a shell of who I used to be.
How do you react when you’re pissed off? I take a few moments to breathe deeply and to address everything with calmness and kindness even though I'm already exploding from the inside.
What celebrity did your most current ex resemble? Gal Gadot in some angles.
What is something creepy that has happened to you (or someone you know) recently? A man knocking on my car window and speaking to me menacingly.
If you named your car or family car, what would you call it? I call her Mitsu, short for Mitsubishi hahaha.
What would you do if you were faced with an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy (at your current age)? Keep it and hope for the best with my parents.
What does it take for someone to earn your trust? They deliver on their promises/commitment/purpose. Surprisingly this is very hard to find in people. How hard is it to just...fulfill something you said you'd do?
Is there anything you should be worried about? Continued from anywhere between 5-7 days ago, I can't really remember. Yeah I'm a bit wary about job prospects given I'm considering resigning for good from my workplace. But until I don't have anything secured, I know that I need to keep being tied here. And I really hate that.
In any case, I've started giving myself the homework that I need to send applications to five openings every day. I've been able to keep at it so far, so only thing there's left to do is see where it takes me.
Are you dealing with any health-related problems right now? I'm pretty sure I'm consistently going through high blood pressure from work. Every weekday my chest feels consistently heavy/tight.
Do you think you should fight for love? It depends. Sometimes it's not worth fighting for.
Are you experiencing problems within a current relationship? No.
When you need a temporary escape, what do you do? I take these. Sometimes I'd go to a coffee shop and just alternate between people-watching and going through my phone for a change of scenery.
How long did your last feelings of heartbreak last? In contrast to the "until I die" duration I thought it would be, it actually just lasted 7 months, lol. I discovered BTS not too long after the breakup and I've since been able to move past it.
Do you ever go shopping with your parents (not including grocery shopping)? Yeah sometimes, when we go out on Sundays.
When the weather is chilly but humid, what kind of things do you tend to wear? Chilly but humid is a sensation completely unfamiliar to me because where I live you only get hot and humid, or more hot and more humid.
When you’re walking somewhere, do you bring an iPod to listen to? I haven't used an iPod in like 13 years, though all the music I listen to when outdoors is in my phone.
Have you ever had some kind of sleep-disorder before? How did it affect your daily life? No.
Have you ever had food poisoning before? Describe the experience: Yeah, a few times. Last time was about a month ago when I drank my coffee that I had actually made the night before. It didn't taste off, but apparently it started to go off already so I didn't know it would affect me until I threw up like four times in a row.
Have you ever read anything by Chuck Palahniuk? What did you think? No.
How do you tend to amuse yourself on long car journeys? It depends on the people I'm with. If it's with my family, I just come up with a bunch of questions to ask everyone in the car; that way everyone and myself are all entertained. Taking surveys has definitely helped me come up with questions, haha.
If it's with close friends, it's not that hard to find ways to amuse ourselves tbh because we never run out of stories and prompts to talk about. Sometimes we'll also sing together, if we find a playlist that we all love.
If it's with workmates or otherwise a bunch of strangers, I just put on my earphones to either listen to music or watch videos to drown everything and everyone out.
Do you find that caffeinated or alcoholic drinks make you pee more than normal? Not so much with coffee; but with alcohol, yes, only because I drink so much water when I have it. I'm constantly driving myself so I'm not supposed to get intoxicated whatsoever.
How often do you need to charge your phone and iPod (on average)? Tbh just overnight. I never get to use my phone a lot since I work from home the whole day anyway.
Do you still enjoy watching Disney movies? Yes. I just watched Toy Story 1 & 2 and The Emperor's New Groove a few weeks ago.
What are some interests you have in common with your parents? Mm with my mom, I guess we both like Miss Saigon? Well, she liked it first, but because she played it on cassette so much when I was younger I ended up taking an interest in it as well.
My dad and I both like sports to an extent, but he's into basketball and MMA and I'm into wrestling. We also have some sort of a relationship with food, given his career as a chef and me just being an adventurous eater.
How old were you when your parents trusted you to stay home alone all day? I was around 14 when they stopped getting house help.
How long do you like to date someone before you bring them home to meet your parents? Can't relate. I've dated one person and never formally introduced her because she's a girl and I didn't know how they would take it.
If you could go to one country for two weeks, all expenses paid, where would you go and why? I'd go back to Da Nang in Vietnam, so I can enjoy their slow-paced living again. It was my absolute favorite part of my trip there.
Do you drink more or less water than is recommended? I'd say less.
Do you like taking walks? I do. The problem is that this country is one of the Least Walking-Friendly Places Ever, and also, it's very hot. It sucks to walk when you're just collecting sweat the entire time.
Do you go on vacation with your family a lot? Where was the last place you went? We do it as much as we can, aka when my dad is home. Our last vacation was in Vietnam; we went to Saigon and Da Nang.
What do your parents think about piercings and tattoos? Do you agree with them? I know they're fine with tattoos because they have their own and because they never acted like it was the end of the world when my sister started getting a bunch of tattoos all over her arms. I'm not so sure about piercings, though. But sure, I like that they're nonchalant about it. My dad's mantra is your money/body, your choice and tbh that's the best it gets.
Which is the funniest name you’ve ever heard? There was actually a viral Reddit post literally just this week or was it two weeks ago? where there was someone defending themselves naming their child Nyxiryn, only to get absolutely destructed by the internet. The name is bad in itself, but it was the discussion that it made it so hilarious.
What are your religious beliefs? Are these the same as your parents’? I was born in a Roman Catholic family. I am quietly atheist.
Do you find it difficult to get to sleep early when you have to be up for something the next day? Yes, mainly because it sucks that I miss out on what's supposed to be my free time.
Unless I need to wake up early to line up for a concert or to get on a flight for a trip, in which I case I have had absolutely no trouble falling asleep early the night before hahaha.
Do you still enjoy coloring in coloring books? I love coloring.
Do you remember the Land Before Time movies? Who was your favorite character? I haven't seen them.
What’s your favorite genre of book to read? Memoirs. Self-written or otherwise.
Who has more influence over your taste in music - friends or family? All over the place, to be honest! Sometimes I'll discover new songs myself; sometimes it'd come from my sister; sometimes it'd come from internet recommendations...
When someone talks to you constantly, do you get fed up and easily irritated with them? I feel like this can't be answered with a straight yes or no. It really depends on the person. If I like them, I'd feel flattered and excited that they'd want to keep talking to me. On the other side of the spectrum, if it's an agent constantly messaging me to get insurance (because this does happen, lmao) obviously I'd get irritated.
Are you one of those people who texts back instantly? Yeah. I have my phone in hand constantly so it can't be helped.
Do you think going to college / university is the best option after you’ve left school? Here in the Philippines, it is. Education is valued very, very greatly here. It's also treated like a privilege here, sadly enough.
Is it easy to sleep late in your house, or are other people pretty noisy in the mornings? I have the worst neighbors who for some reason houses a billion fucking kids constantly screaming and crying 24/7. No, it's not easy to sleep in; I've woken up earlier than I'd want to on more than one occasion because of those brats.
Do you prefer watching movies alone or with other people? With other people.
What’s your favourite place to get pizza from? I've tried so many different pizza places all my life but I'm sorry, nothing for me beats good ol' fucking Pizza Hut LOL
Do you ever do something, and then wonder how many people are currently doing the same thing as you? Only like 9 out of 10 times.
When’s the last time the power went out in your house? Couple of months back during Typhoon Carina. Fortunately we didn't have it as bad as many other cities; power just flicked off and on, then off and on before it came back on for good.
Is there a laundry basket in your room? If yes, what color is it? It's in the bathroom, not in my room. It's brown.
Do you like those different flavored Tootsie Rolls? Idk, I've never had a Tootsie Roll I feel like.
Do you keep your shoes on a shoe rack, or just throw them somewhere? Yeah we have two shoe racks.
Think of the last verbal argument you were in; what caused it? Been a while since I've gotten in one.
Does your refrigerator have one door or two? Two. Left is freezer, right is the fridge.
Do you smoosh bugs, or just let ‘em go? Unless they're flying around me or on my skin, I let them go.
Do you know anyone who collects stamps? Nope.
What was the last thing you deleted off of your computer? On my work computer, it was all the files from 2023.

Least favorite horror movie?
List your top 5 favorite tropes.
What are some horror trends you're so over? (analog horror, jump scares, political, etc.)
Do you enjoy horror that is more realistic or more cartoony?
Horror Related Munday | Accepting
Least favorite horror movie?
Probably controversial, but "A Quiet Place" the entire series is so fucking boring and I cannot suspend my belief enough to believe that they wouldn't have instantly died. The human body in general makes a lot of noise. If it is as if you even breathe wrong you die like in the movie, though to be fair even that's inconsistent, then no one would be alive. I don't think any of the characters are interesting either, it's just kind of bland.
List your top 5 favorite tropes.
Body horror. Good body horror where it pushes the boundaries of what counts as human or what we can relate to. Genuinely such a great medium of story telling.
I love me a good cult in a movie, especially if they're portrayed realistically it's oddly kind of fun while still being a scary grim reminder of reality
When the supernatural thing isn't actually super natural and is just something even weirder going on? Yeah that's really fun
Cheesy gore effects from the 70s and 80s idk if they count as a trope, but they're really fun
When a twist killer is pulled off well then its incredibly fun re-watching a movie and pointing out all the little tells, but when it doesn't work its really bad.
What are some horror trends you're so over? (analog horror, jump scares, political, etc.)
Mascot horror or analog. Don't get me wrong, I love them both when they're done well, but my god the amount of blatant no-creativity thy just exist for cash grabs that exist now is so hard to sift through. I'm getting that way with "ps2-style horror" now too and it sucks, because there's some genuinely great games in that genre, but oh my god it's gotten so over-saturated to the point where its hard to find people who made a game in that style, because they genuinely loved it and people who just seen a trend to hop onto.
Do you enjoy horror that is more realistic or more cartoony?
I think it depends. Slashers I prefer it to be less realistic, because I'm just there to make eyes at Myers or Ghostface, but I like realism in other things like psychological horror or gothic horror.

Beef, Bars, and Banter: Navigating the Drake vs. Kendrick Feud and the Hilarity Ensuing
When I first came across Pop Base’s prompt to write something for their newsletter based on modern-day pop culture, like Drake, I wanted to hire a ghostwriter.
Allegedly! Anyway…
I went to ChatGPT to see if I could streamline the process and create something funny, witty, and on-trend without spending too much time. It didn’t work at all. What came out (with specific prompts, even) was incredibly corny and very clearly written by AI. This is why we need REAL writers to be compensated fairly and given the correct resources to entertain and inform us properly.
Anyway, that’s my little rant on writing. But let’s go back to Drake. Right now, this man is getting cooked by the entire industry, yet it seems he’s holding his own? Whether our favorite cornball, who everyone admits is actually somewhat appealing in a way none of us can explain, is your favorite, or if you like the Pulitzer Prize winner, Kendrick, you must tip your hat to the revival of beef in the rap game.
This is fun!
I mean, The Weeknd is out here singing sultry diss bars, Future is butt-hurt for what seems to be the first time ever, Metro Boomin is catching strays simply because he’s good at making beats but doesn’t rap, Rick Ross is on IG calling Drake “whiteboy”, J Cole avoided a massacre but might have lost some respect in the process, Pusha T is somewhere saying “I told you so,” Kanye is continuing to be his same insane self… even Quavo and Chris Brown are getting intensely and perhaps almost violently disrespectful on the undercard for this headliner beef.
That said, rather than diving into this beef from all angles, I want to acknowledge that this is a lot of information to digest, and many battles are going on in this war. That’s why I will do my very best to give a bird’s-eye view of this whole situation and see if this perspective can help all of us enjoy it for what it is. Not necessarily to tell you who to “support” but rather to recognize that negativity might save us in 2024.
We’re missing pop culture events that unite and get us all thinking about the same things. That’s where I believe Kendrick and Drake are doing a massive service to hip-hop. Putting it all on the line gives us something great to sink our teeth into. I, for one, love it.
So, as far as comparing this beef to past beefs, I remember in middle school, hearing Nas on ‘Ether.’ It rocked my world. I was raised on Nas and thought of him as the ultimate rapper. A rapper’s rapper. Instantaneously upon hearing “Fuck Jay Z” several times in succession on the song, I became a bonafide 100% Jay Z hater.
Did I have a problem with Jay? Not really. He was a star. I liked his music and had absolutely no issues with him. But not anymore! Nas had set the stage for me to learn as much as possible about Jay Z and become skeptical of everything about him.
This time around, the same feeling is back. However, it’s even weirder because the internet is out here internetting. Drake has a team of social media people who ensure he has the best and most impactful content strategy any rapper in a beef could ask for.
The internet is all about timing and trolling. Drake and his team are certainly better equipped there. And it’s showing to be necessary. However, one could argue if the bars are all that matters, Kendrick might have him beat there. Hence, the need for Drake to win these small battles on social media.
I think the best thing about beef between world-class musicians is that we are instantaneously reminded that everybody is insecure and we all make mistakes. The goal of beef is to expose those missteps and air out those insecurities. Before, I never would have guessed Drake had a BBL, fake abs, and other body modifications. Does that make me hate him? Not really. Does it even bother me? No. Does it make me think he’s very weird? Hell yeah.
In this politically correct world, toxic masculinity makes a resounding comeback whenever rap beef is declared. That’s probably the most upsetting thing about this all, but at the same time, let me reiterate that it’s fun. In a world of Israel and Palestine headlines, one of the most significant elections of our history, climate issues, and other general sad, sad truths, this is something we quite certainly NEED.
Silly bullying.
Drake making fun of Kendrick’s shoe size is, frankly, hilarious. I don’t care at all that Kendrick is short. Why would I? It doesn’t matter one bit. But if you put it on a song, it’s GOING to be funny. But of course, he refers to him as “midget” a few too many times for our PC culture to be happy with him. I found this most interesting when stepping back and thinking about it all. To come across as “real” also means NOT being politically correct.
Drake came for Kendrick for making music with Taylor Swift. Meanwhile, he’s in a commercial singing and dancing to Taylor. Is working with one of the biggest stars of all time something you should be ashamed of? Clearly not. But it’s not manly. So we have to be embarrassed by it. Beef is confusing in 2024; that’s all I’m saying.
And Kendrick isn’t guilt-free, either. He told Drake he doesn’t like it when he says the N-word. Of course, Drake has a black father but was primarily raised by his white mother. Now, he must feel bad about using our culture’s most controversial word. Of course, there’s a lot a sociology professor could unpack about why this is wrong, but in rap beef, it’s fair game. And it works as a way to poke holes in Drizzy's entire being! So it plays.
Another thing. Before we had Rap Genius and could look up what these guys were saying, some more subtle jabs would go under the radar. But now, the whole thing—from Kendrick naming the song ‘Euphoria’ because of the HBO show Drake is a producer on—and the connection there to pedophilia to Drake calling his diss ‘Push Ups’—there’s simply lore everywhere you look.
I used to write for a company that covered Marvel/DC, comics in general, and action franchises, and the main thing I took away from it was that people love Easter Eggs. We love digging into the material and finding references to the past or things meant to not just be on the surface. That’s what we love most about rap beef - especially nowadays.
We want to make discoveries about these greats that make them less untouchable, to bring them down a peg. Interestingly, human nature is to humiliate those on top whenever possible.
But alas.
So, whether you “don’t trust” Drake or love and agree that he’s winning this 20v1, you must admit this is “for the culture” and far from over. So buckle up; this will be a hilarious and fun ride.

So it occurred to me that I've never made a "Meet the Artist" page and want to hop on that trend! This was definitely inspired by @unclefathersantateddy and their “Meet the Artist” page. For some visuals of me, I'll be using the art you've seen as my icon, which was a Commission that was made by the very talented and lovely @alyssaerin, and it's of my sister's and my Animal Crossing characters (mine is the one on the right in the yellow dress)! It came out so adorable and perfect that I'll never stop yelling about it. I'll also use the Pic Crew of me that I made.
Basic Info
--You can call me Golden_Doodler!
--I'm Genderfluid AFAB and Bisexual, so I'm very LGBTQ+ 🌈 (my pronouns are She/They)
--I'm Korean! 안녕하세요! 🇰🇷 ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡
--I was born in the early 2000s (I'm 19), and my Astrological Sign is Pisces! :D
-I'm currently in college to hopefully become a Veterinarian, but I adore doing/appreciating anything and everything creative on the side. Including, but not limited to: Writing, drawing, singing, listening to music, or posting way too long, in-depth analyses here
--I'm sort of a Vegetarian? Only really when I'm at school, though. The plant-based meat they offer here is actually really tasty
--I already mentioned this, but I have an older sister, and she's great. There are definitely perks (and drawbacks) of having an older sibling
--This is definitely a new thing, but I have a boyfriend, who is the absolute best~
Likes
--Art, writing, anything creative as I've already mentioned before
--Adorable, cutesy art styles (actually, anything adorable and cutesy, like Hello Kitty)
--My family/friends/boyfriend ❣️ (more like love, but still)
--Musicals! Give me all of them
--Clear communication in all relationships
--Bob's Burgers! But I'm sure you already know that
--Some of my other favorite shows, at least in the animated category, are Gravity Falls, South Park, Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain, The Owl House, Futurama, Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, SpongeBob (at least the earlier seasons), and many, many more
Dislikes
--I don't like being negative, but I guess just awful people who are mean for no reason?
--College debt (I just paid around $400 for textbooks recently (¬_¬"))
--Climate Change
I can't think of anything else to say, so I guess that's it! The Speed Paint of the Commission I got can be found here:
youtube
Also, I'm open for Commissions, so I'll just plug that again:
#meet the artist#personal#it's weird talking about myself but also kind of fun#i hope the format's not too strange#i'm still not over the animal crossing art because it's the cutest thing i've ever seen#if alyssa erin is still open for commissions and you can afford it i highly recommend you commission her#i'm so obsessed with the color palette because my sister's favorite color is purple and mine is yellow and both are incorporated heavily#Youtube

About Urban Streetwear and Tech-Inspired Looks We Love
Written by Allison Ruiz
Hi, I’m Allison and for this week’s blog post we will be covering women’s urban streetwear essentials and interchangeable outfit pieces. But first things first- What IS Urban Streetwear?! Streetwear -or urbanwear- is defined as a casual clothing style worn especially by members of various urban youth subcultures (Oxford Languages). Urban fashion is inspired by urban environment and city living.
Urban streetwear reflects individual personalities that are ever-changing and unique, gathering elements of different subcultures like hip hop, skateboarding, sports, and casual wear. With the growing popularity of streetwear trends, we figured we would weigh in with our own observations on what makes for a well-balanced and choice urban streetwear outfit.
This week I will be going over some of my favorite tech-inspired urban streetwear. Let’s get into it.
Cargo Skirts and Tech Pants
Source: RUSSH
This look has been on the radar for a while now, giving more variety for choices in loose-fitting bottoms for many urban streetwear looks. Cargo skirts can be styled with sporty and casual clothing like t-shirts and sneakers or a variety of styled tops that can give a nice silhouette. This trendy item resurfaced after miss Bella Hadid styled it back in 2021, and it is barely hitting the markets in stores such as Urban Outfitter and Amazon.

Here’s another cargo skirt/parachute maxi skirt option from ASOS for my petite ladies as well.
Source: ASOS
Tech Pants
Tech pants are technical pants that are made with a mixture of fabrics and made to provide moisture-wicking properties and easy of movement as well as all around comfort. They have a baggy/loose-fitting fit and look like cargo pants. Here’s one from Urban Outfitters.
Source: Urban Outfitters
Here’s another cool tech pant made by Free People- are they tech pants or are they work scrubs? Are they for the lab or b-ball attire? We don’t care, we love them.
Source: Free People
Okay, that’s nice, but where’s the variety?
When it comes to urban streetwear, the best thing you can do is vary the looks by playing with different shapes and silhouettes. You don’t always necessarily need to wear baggy bottoms, you can use straight leg pants or even a variety of shorts or skirts, even chino pants. Here’s a few other looks for inspiration.
Here we have an OOFTD streetstyle look from Milan Fashion Week of 2019. Although it’s not recent, it’s still relevant and noteworthy! Look at the contrast between the semi-casual sweater mixed with the jogger cargo pants and boots.
Source: Fashion Week Daily
Another option is to mix it up with knits and contrasting outerwear to really complement an outfit. Here’s a noteworthy look from Copenhagen Fashion week in 2023. Notice how the knit set still has utility wear details such as the buttons on the hem of the sweater and the drawstring waistline of the knit skirt and on the sweater arm cuffs. This is a great example of urban streetwear with tech inspired elements.
Source: Elle Fashion Week
Another amazing ensemble from the 2023 Copenhagen Fashion Week streetstyle looks is this fashionable denim on denim look with some unique jeans and a Carhartt messenger bag. Not quite a Britney and Justin moment- it’s got a fresh modern flare with the white denim vest and blue denim patchwork.
Source: Elle Fashion Week
And lastly, you can always make a blast to past into earlier generation’s style archives, like we see here with athletic tracksuit pants, from the late 90’s to today.
Source: Pinterest and Pinterest
Honorary Mention of Microsoft’s ACTUAL Tech Pants!
Microsoft came out with their own tech cargo pants and they have lots of extra pockets and a zip off legs option. They are also 100% cotton ripstop and very cool!
Source: https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-is-selling-tech-pants-for-150-wait-what-are-tech-pants/
I hope I convinced you to try out some new styles and inspired you to create more outfit combinations. Next time we will be looking at more versatile options for more urban streetwear looks.
Thank you for reading.

i think natcasts hate whoever is doing worse and/or whoever is less popular. like. in my head i could see a SEA vs FLA game filled with praise for the panthers and a piddly amount of love for the kraken but a SEA vs MIN game i would assume more praise for the kraken than the wild.
i do also think that natcasts just. hate the wild because there never seems to be much to say about them but maybe that's just coming from a biased place because they're my no. 1
LOL "natcasts hate the worse, less popular team" and "natcasts will always hate the minnesota wild" in the same ask is FOUL <3
actually though i say this entirely because sometimes i like to hop over to other team lbs sometimes . survey and take notes ^_^ that when its a national cast its like. nobody winning? you check between both lbs and its like. everyone hates it because its totally wrong about THEIR team
(THOUGH TBH... CANT SAY THEIR TEAMS GIVE EM MUCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO FROM MY PERSPECTIVE??? LOL??????)
i think i figured it... is it that the natcast picks favorite players IN the favored teams
BUT. when they do latch onto one guy its so imbalanced ? maybe ?
because when the natcast is nice to one guy on their team . it appears its JUST that one guy ??? and everyones screamin because THEY GOT MORE THAN ONE GUY or whatever????? which is how we get both lbs hatin on natcast? IDK im a sharks fan i dont GOT special guys. who the hell is macklin celebrini
TBH i do NOT pay very much attention to casts & we all used to very biased home casts in favor of our team . so i dont actually have much opinion on caster bias HAHAHAHA i miss my old men that say things i disagree with!
or maybe they just DO have more balanced perspective of only knowing about teams by whatevers trending about them on twitter (LMAO) and we only notice the red lights (when they gas up the other team)????? (one bloggers "I DONT CARE ABOUT THIS TEAM" is another bloggers "FINALLY THEYRE ACKNOWLEDGING MY GUY!!!!")
#ask tag#to be honest im thinkin most topically about col @ sea because i was checkin if the rivalry is a two way thing or not#it is LOL#is this bad manners IDK#where would i be without my field studies!!! :)#i feel a deep bond with stl fans on stl sjs game days#IDK maybe ill go for a trot for a bit

relistened to (most of) Ye (fka Kanye West)'s discog, for reasons that escape me
Tier 1
Late Registration: creatively progressive and lush production that takes all the ideas from The College Dropout and elevates them, thoughtful and creative bars, a lot of great topical focus with a blend of social commentary and personal drama. Definitely my favorite Kanye album.
Kids See Ghosts (w/ Kid Cudi): sort of a weird aberration in an era of Ye's career that I otherwise detest, though tbqh I think it's Cudi and the featured players that carry the record at least lyrically and vocally. the most interesting things Ye does here are scream and yell rhythmically. fun, catchy, dark psychedelic rap-rock, which I think crests the wave of similar kinds of sounds and artists that were starting to pop up at the time and have gotten more visible since. Plus its brevity just leaves me wanting more, which is not something I can say about most other Kanye projects of the 2010s
Tier 2
The College Dropout: I don't *love* the concept here of Ye ditching college to become rap entrepreneur (and I think it is revealing of the kind of bootstrapper black-nationalist inflected conservatism that has been a part of his persona throughout his career), but it is hard to deny that the humor is often on point, his lyrics are frequently clever or witty or incisive, and the production is boundary-pushing and memorable. Also full of great sung and rapped features
Graduation: While there are definitely a few more duds here relative to The College Dropout or Late Registration, the highlights soar, and I think it threads the needle well of being poppy and being progressive/"alternative"
Tier 3
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: one of the most overrated albums possibly of all time, certainly of the 2010s. it's got some great highlights, mostly fantastic and bombastic production, and a mixed bag of features, but I think what I resent about this album is how it represents Ye's pivot towards an almost exclusively egoistic and intensely more misogynistic mode of lyricism, and its inauguration of this sort of "self-pitying and self-important celebrity confessional" style of rap that dominated the decade.
Tier 4
808s and Heartbreak: a pretty bold move that set the tone for the 2010s, for good and ill, but the execution of the singing and AutoTune/incorporation of R&B elements is quite sloppy overall.
The Life of Pablo: just a total mess, both in its rollout and in its structure, but does have a few great standouts like Ultralight Beam.
Watch the Throne (w/ Jay-Z): two giants entering their slow decline and writing a closing chapter for the bling era, aka the worst era of hip-hop and also one they had largely skirted around, which just makes it sort of bewildering.
Tier 5
Yeezus: Ye's first album where he's chasing a trend (alternative and industrial rap) rather than forging his own, and while I do think a lot of the production (supported by e.g. Daft Punk and Arca) is great, every time he twists a civil rights slogan into some awful sex pun it makes me want to murder him.
Ye: tremendously boring, really can't overstate how I hate this era of his career.
Jesus is King: come on. doesn't even execute its conceit well because the egoism of his persona gets in the way of a Christian humility that might actually be appealing and make the otherwise corny gospel angle work.
Tier 6: Not Listening - I don’t want to stream these and I certainly am not going to spend time downloading them.
