i love akechi because he tries to act nonchalant and calm and collected for the general public and basically everyone he meets but as soon as it comes to ren he is a completely different person, it’s like a switch got flipped in his brain. he’s so needy and possessive and jealous when it comes to ren because he’s never had anyone take an interest in him and understand him quite like ren so he almost goes to any length to keep that. he’s never been loved or loved anyone properly and it’s like he doesn’t know how to except constantly challenging him and making him his rival to get that validation. it’s like ren is giving him the validation he wanted from his own father and never got. and it never bothers ren because he understands him and they’re soulmates, even if they are also rivals.
