I think that after Stan repairs the portal and has Ford back in his life, he finds himself counting Ford’s fingers. It’s a way to remind himself that even if they’re fighting, even if Ford doesn’t appreciate him - he did it. His brother is home. So he counts from afar.

Then after Weirdmagedden, after Bill, after he remembers, it’s a way to ground himself. To remind himself that it’s real.

Ford notices once they start living in closer quarters. Stan might think he’s subtle, but he sometimes moves his mouth along with the numbers while he rubs his thumb across Ford’s knuckles (1-2-3-4-5-6 1-2-3-4-5-6)

Ford says nothing, but when he pulls Stanley close and he kisses each of Ford’s fingers, Ford finds himself closing his eyes and counting along.

AHHHHHHH HOMESTUCK IS SO PRETTY! I'm obsessed this kind of extremely bold colors and interesting composition and shape. It's genuinely incredible to me? I'm utterly obsessed. Look at the faint fish eye due to how the city is framed and the beautiful fire effects that goes up and looks like stars with the swirling clouds of smoke. Fucking Gorgeous. I need to art study this comic one day.

I’ve seen a few (non-AU) fics that played into an older/younger sibling dynamic even though Stan and Ford are twins and mostly I just find it funny because I KNOW if Ford tried to pull the “I’m your big brother” card in bed Stan’s sibling instincts would completely override anything else
