Secrets are getting in the way (such as wolfie) and hindering their process. Maybe it wouldn't have been so clunky if tgey knew exactly who wolfie is

The power up on the sword! Ive seen a post about it before so its cool that they are noticing it, very important too!

I like the firmness with sky and time's ideas of the sword. Even though time says nothing about her we can see it, and the fact that she still sees him as her master (obviously!) It seems like they both need to sort out this dissagreement in order to not impact them even more (Pg8)

I love this especially because i just made a fic about exploring sky's and others' relationship with the master sword

I can't help but think that sky is thinking about more than just this quest in this update and back to his own adventure and maybe ghirahim. More bits in this update also make me think that ("he wants to fight" "yeah, 'cause he wont")

Wind being the one most eagre to fight! And Hyrule being the one most ready to go! I love that!

I was just thinking a few bays ago about what happened to those letters, i guess we get to see now! It seems like it might be one more update before we set off properly again (pg9)

are you tired of how many character tournaments just become a popularity contest?

how regardless of seeding, even high contenders can almost arbitrarily be knocked out early on, leaving you with nothing to root for?

if you're feeling that, and if you like any webcomics, you should participate in the webcomic character tournament!

the primary goals of this tournament are:

to celebrate the medium of webcomics as a whole

to find new webcomics to read, and to recommend your own favorites

to highlight indie creators and help them build a wider audience

to have fun rooting for and celebrating your favorite characters!

in order to accomplish these goals, instead of a single elimination bracket, i will be using a mcmahon system inspired tournament structure!

this means that no character will be eliminated, and you can participate in polls rooting for your favorite character throughout all the rounds. characters will also be roughly matched up based on a system that determines how well known their work is, so most rounds should be relatively evenly matched, allowing people to fight for their favorites on their own merits

more details about how the mcmahon tournament will work can be found under the cut!

no submission is specifically banned, but try to keep in mind the spirit of this tournament when deciding what to submit.

under the cut after my more detailed description of the tournament structure, i also ramble in a lot more detail about my philosophy regarding submission eligibility, but it's not necessary to read all that before submitting characters

mcmahon tournament details:

matchups will be decided based off of a survey sent out after submissions are over gauging participants' familiarity with all of the competing characters' source materials. each character will be assigned points based off of how known their source material is, and each character will go up against a character with a similar popularity score for the first round

characters will be awarded points based off of if they lose, win, or tie their match and have that added to their total score, and then they will again be paired against a character with a similar updated score

depending on how many characters are participating, this process can continue either until there is a definitive ranking of all characters, or until just a few top winners are clear

i haven't entirely decided on specifics such as whether points will be awarded by a simple 0 for a loss, 0.5 for a tie, 1 for a win or by percentage of the vote, and if initial popularity points will be counted in the final ranking, or if i will try to rank winners from within their initial popularity categories, but i hope that won't matter too much, because in my opinion the main fun of this isn't the final results, it's for people to have fun in the individual rounds seeing their favorite character's points go up!

submission guidelines:

if you are submitting characters from extremely popular webcomics, try to limit yourself to just characters that are among your top favorites of all time, and maybe try to submit stuff from lesser known works as well

similar goes for webcomics that are more widely known for adaptations into other media forms (one punch man, tower of god, heartstopper, etc.)

i'm not specifically banning any comic for having bigoted content or its creator being a bad person, there's a wide scale of stuff i could decide to include in that definition or not. in the goal of celebrating favorite characters, obviously a lot of people love characters despite flaws in the work they're from, but also keep in mind the goals of recommending works to other people, and helping uplift and promote creators you like, and try to find a reasonable balance from there

what counts as a webcomic:

physically published works that you can find pirated or scanlated online probably don't count

comics whose publication is centered around physical releases, who also have simultaneous online releases by their publishers (comics on manga plus or comixology, newspaper strips with online sites, etc.) probably don't count

comics published through traditional publishers that are exclusively online (such as shōnen jump+ comics) still probably don't count

comics published online through companies that exclusively publish online (such as lezhin) are still discouraged

stuff like line webtoon or tapas official comics are more acceptable, as there are a lot of free comics from independent creators around them and many of these comics started out that way themselves, so they exist within a culture of webcomics more so than the aforementioned comic categories

stuff that is paywalled beyond just having an early release system is discouraged

comics that are no longer online but accessible through archives are fine though, especially in the wake of sites like smackjeeves being deleted there's a lot of stuff in webcomic history that can only be found that way now!

webtoon style comics absolutely count as webcomics, they're an exciting way of fully making use of webcomics' digital format! simultaneously however, i feel like with the rise of mobile webtoon apps, there are many people who read webtoon style comics but who dont further engage with webcomics, so i'd definitely encourage submitting a variety of styles of webcomic!

none of these rules are set! feel free to submit whatever you want, i just list them so you can try to find a balance between the different goals of this tournament when submitting stuff.

anyone can submit as many characters as you want, but just maybe if you find that a lot of your submission ideas are from comics in some of the more discouraged categories, limit yourself in how many you submit from those categories and only submit characters if they're absolute favorites of yours you want the opportunity to celebrate, and maybe try to also submit a character from something that isn't in a discouraged category too!

theres no penalty for not going with this, but i think because choosing characters by number of nominees doesn't really align with my intentions for this, depending on how easy it is to sort submissions i might just go off of vibes, so you might just be less likely to have a character make it to the tournament if their comic is in more heavily discouraged categories is all

Overprotective: they're highkey intimidating the shit out of reader's crush and reader themselves. They look pissed off. The interrogation Reader is finna go through is crazy. Reader's siblings are scared for Reader.

Prince "Charming": who is immediately asking questions and even invites reader's crush inside for dinner. They look charming but damnit they're scary. Lowkey intimidating asf.

Sweetheart: this one is basically the "charming" one but they're not intimidating at all, in fact they're super nice and welcoming.

Teaser: the tease is never gonna let reader live this down. In fact, they invite reader's crush in just to fuck with reader. They're not gonna shut up about this and neither are Reader's siblings. Lowkey thought Reader would never find a significant other.

- this is a part two of some sorts to the first one.

- this is one of the longest ones ive written. in terms of months because this took so long bc of school.

Overprotective: Kunigami Rensuke

- the kind of dad who isn't exactly strict but he tends to go.. a little overboard?

- like he's completely alright with you going out, shopping, going somewhere with friends. but the catch is you have to update him whenever you guys go somewhere different, your location should always be on, you have to send him pictures or videos as updates if typing might take too long, etc.

- he's only overprotective when he's not there. (obviously) but it really also just depends on what you're doing. if it's a situation you've been in a lot, let's day shopping for books, going to the mall with or without your siblings, if he's able to trust you in these scenarios then he'll hold back a little bit.

- but on times where you're just really far away with friends, or you're hanging out with a group of people he's not completely familiar with, you'll definitely have to comply with his rules and stuff.

- he's only like this because he cares a lot about you and your siblings.

- HOWEVER

- having significant others is a different story. he's a lot stricter with the rules, especially if its like a new person who's been dating you for like half a year.

- his rules tend to be from a scale of "you have to be taken home by 6 pm" to "you can't hold hands because I'm not convinced they wash their hands". it's lowkey ridiculous sometimes but he does try to be less overbearing.

- the scolding when he finds out about your s/o tho is... scarier?

- i don't think he usually notices how scary he can be, but the moment you stepped inside the house he turned on the intimidation factor off the roof.

- he had his arms crossed, the brows were furrowed, he was looking at you like you just committed the most offensive crime possible in human history.

- you got grounded uhm... he wasn't happy. not because you have a s/o, but purely because you kept it from him.

- he acts like he hates your s/o too but genuinely though, he's happy that you've found someone that makes you feel special.

- you're still grounded for a month though, couldn't go on dates until then.

- amidst the strictness, he does genuinely try to get along with your significant other and is content knowing that you have someone to look after you, especially at times where he's too far away to physically look out for you.

Prince Charming: Chigiri Hyoma

- chigiri... isn't exactly like sweet looking per se? but his demeanor is definitely comforting in a way, because of how charming he is.

- so a lot of the time your friends are comfortable in your family especially because of how chigiri's demeanor is. but they do know not to get on his bad side yk.

- the s/o situation is... a big contrast in a sense.

- bc chigiri is still charming, invites them inside to eat yk. asks questions about how they're treating you, and if they promise to take care of you. yk normal stuff.

- unfortunately he's the type to intimidate your partner the moment you turn your back.

- he glares and starts threatening your s/o that if they ever hurt you, he'd be less than impressed and happy after all the promises they've given chigiri about treating you right.

- your s/o is lowkey traumatized bc how does a man, so charming and pretty, also be one of the scariest people they've ever encountered.

- honestly you're not surprised. you've seen your father use his charm for things less than... righteous. (he's used his charm and his pretty face to bargain for prices in the market too many times. it is a must, people)

- all in all though, i see chigiri as the type to take a very long time to adjust to your s/o, and over time, he tries to let loose a little more and slowly understand that someone else is bound to find you worth taking care of just like he does.

Sweetheart: Isagi Yoichi

- man does no wrong. he's on board with your s/o, and is loving the fact that you have someone to take care of you whenever he's away.

- is a genuine sweetheart. i would say that he's the opposite of chigiri where hes the sweet but is actually intimidating type, whereas isagi is the intimidating at first type but is actually just a super sweet dad.

- he's used to a lot of people liking you, and he's upset the moment he finds out that they've hurt you, so he has some trust issues about this s/o.

- this definitely showed the moment he found out you had an s/o you hadn't told him about yet.

- the moment he finds out about your s/o, he's the type to shed a tear. and you don't know how to feel because your dad is... crying??

- he'd tell you that he's happy, and that he wants to meet your s/o as quick as possible.

- he tries to make your s/o feel as welcome as possible, and he makes sure that they know that they're always welcome in the house.

- acts like a second father to your s/o. sometimes you feel like you're the s/o coming to meet the father of the person you love so dearly bc why does this man already call your s/o (son/daughter) the second time they come to the house.

- isagi just adores you both as well, like he takes you both on trips and stuff but sometimes he wishes he wasn't there bc why does he feel like a third wheel everytime.

- does not hesitate to help either of you out for dates. you have a suprise? he's on it, he's hands on, making sure that whatever you're doing doesn't get out to the other person.

Teaser: Meguru Bachira

- dare i say he's the most annoying one out of the four?

- this man finds one detail about your relationship and he acts like over reacting classmates when someone has a crush.

- he does not shut up im so sorry, but he as much as possible vowed that he'll tease you in exchange for the fact that you kept your s/o a secret for a year.

- he also lowkey got your siblings to work with him. ever since your first crush, they've all banded together to find the person you liked and somehow always manages to invite them for dinner?

- but back to the present, when he found out about the s/o he asked very calmly "so how long?"

-"a year.."

- whips his head to look at you, eyes wide, mouth frowning open.

- the definition of D:

- to be fair he had an idea, but he trusted you'd tell him at the right time.

- he did not expect the right time to be one year into the relationship.

- and so, he promises to himself that he'll tease and embarrass you both as often, and as much as he can on a daily basis. mostly you though.

- everyday without fail he teases you about your pet names for each other.

- you could say your s/o's name and he'd pop in from the other room going "don't you mean (insert pet name here)"

- you'd tell him to stfu if he wasn't your father

- so instead, you just respectfully stare at him while he laughs until he stops

- expect it to happen again the same day

- sometimes he even talks about it with his team, and when you met some of his friends they're like "so how's your s/o? do they still call you (pet name here)?"

- because your dad somehow bribed them into joining the teasing.

- but honestly he's happy for you, he just shows his affection for you both that way and he has no qualms about you dating.

- except maybe if he finds you crying about your s/o. let's hope it does not come to that.

NATLA: An Extremely Mediocre Mess

I spent the entire day watching Netflix's ATLA adaptation and oh boy was it...something.

I struggle sometimes with putting my full thoughts into words but here goes. No idea how long this will be.

Spoilers ahead, obviously.

I want to start out by getting a few things I thought were good or at least fine out of the way.

First off I wanna mention the acting (aside from Gran Gran) was fine. I think Gordon Cormier has a lot of potential and it really felt like sometimes he was being held back by the script and direction. Really hope this role opens up new doors for him in his acting career!

Not that I think ATLA needed more violence or anything, and initially I was against them adding more violence just to make it more "realistic", but I actually didn't mind it. It was way more gruesome than I thought it would be, both Sozin and Ozai literally set people on fire and burn them to a crisp. Kind of does help set in the actual horror of what they're doing. We even saw the same happen to Kya in a flashback. Again, this wasn't needed, but I didn't mind it.

The bending effects DID look a little better than in the trailers I thought. Firebending in particular I thought was decent, all the other elements were just okay, with waterbending I feel suffering the most from it. The rest of the CGI kind of sucked though which I'll get into later.

Having Gyatso be more of a presence I thought was nice, as I always felt like he could've been a little more to the front of Aang's mind in the original series than what he was. I honestly LOVE the idea of him hanging around in the Spirit World for Aang, as in the past I've thought of that idea and wished it had happened. Except....they just kind of throw this plotline away later for no reason. So that's great.

Lastly, it was neat to see Indian culture being represented in Omashu.

Now that that's out of the way....time to really dig in.

The series starts with the Air Nomad genocide, pretty brutal stuff but I don't have much to say about this aside from the moments with Gyatso being nice.

Aang can apparently just fly now, but he only really does it to show off in this first episode. Apparently it's because he's an Airbending prodigy, despite the fact that the ability to fly was established in LOK as being a very rare occurance that only comes after letting go of every earthly attachment. But sure, let's just have Aang fly now. Why even have his glider in the first place?

He gets frozen in pretty much the exact same way, which now leads us to the Southern Water Tribe, where Katara is practicing waterbending in secret in the abandoned Fire Nation ship. It's mentioned later that Sokka and Gran Gran forbid her from practicing bending in case the Fire Nation comes back and tries to kill her, which...sure, I guess.

They find Aang's iceberg, but since Sokka isn't sexist anymore, her anger at him isn't what opens the ice, it's her attempting to pull their canoe back to them and she accidentally splits the iceberg open.

Speaking of Sokka's sexism, remember when people were trying to say "Oh the show isn't getting rid of that arc, it's just updating it because a lot of moments in the original show were iffy!" Yeah, no, they got rid of that arc entirely. Which, honestly if they had just done that without making a big deal out of it in interviews wouldn't have been an issue. The issue is them trying to act as though the narrative of the show itself was sexist and not actively showing us that Sokka is in the wrong.

Anyways, Aang literally just falls out of the iceberg and it's lowkey funny cause he just slides out like he's going down a water slide.

They take him back to the village unconscious and once he wakes up, Gran Gran (who's acting was awful by the way. Not sure if it was the actress' fault or the direction, it really felt like the direction to me). She immediately recognizes Aang's tattoos and just tells him flatly that the Air Nomads are all dead. No compassion or anything. Oh, and she out of the blue begins narrating the original series' intro verbatim which was so out of place and funny. HEY REMEMBER THE OPENING FOR THE CARTOON?? THAT'S IN HERE TOO!!!!!

Weirdly enough....it almost felt like Sokka and Aang had more of a bond than Katara and Aang. Sokka was initially skeptical of Aang but then instantly wants to go save him and I swear they had more interactions than Aang did with Katara. The two of them don't even really feel like friends until the last two episodes or so.

Also, they go to the Southern Air Temple in the first episode where Katara doesn't calm Aang down from the Avatar State but rather a memory of Gyatso did. Okay....

Oh, this also had one more thing I liked, and it was Aang giving Gyatso a proper burial. I always assumed that happened at some point, whether during the series or sometime afterwards. Nice to see it here.

Okay, so my thoughts after this are just gonna skip around a bit because I was writing them down as I went. The first half the series really didn't have much egregiously wrong with it, it was mostly just mid.

It's mentioned briefly that...Aang's airbending went out of control sometimes? Like the reason he had to train with the monks was so that he would stop accidentally hurting his friends with airbending. Because why have the storyline of him accidentally hurt Katara with firebending when you could have this instead?

The like...purple and motion blur effects they used for the Spirit World scenes was such an eyestrain....

In the Spirit World, Kyoshi gives Aang a vision of the attack on the Northern Water Tribe. Before, Aang had no reason to even bother going here, because Katara is teaching herself waterbending (turns out Gran Gran had the waterbending scroll the whole time! But hid it from Katara til now). Aang also doesn't even attempt waterbending at all this season btw

The Gaang gets to Omashu, where they decide to combine The King of Omashu, Jet, The Northern Air Temple...and The Cave of Two Lovers. Despite this sounding clunky and weird, I think these storylines together actually did mesh well (except for the COTL, which OH BOY I WILL GET TO)

The idea here is that the Mechanist, whose name is now Sai (don't know if this was ever mentioned in any supplemental material or if it was just made up for this show) and Teo live here. Jet and the Freedom Fighters also live nearby, where they are trying to plant bombs around Omashu and make the Gaang think it's the Fire Nation.

One scene I wanna mention, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I SWEAR Sai said he needed to control the "attitude" of the hot air balloon...not "altitude."

Aang ends up getting captured by Bumi's generals, and he almost immediately figures out who Bumi is. Which...I cannot believe Aang named his son after THIS Bumi. He's kind of a huge asshole and is mad at Aang for abandoning them for the past century. Like you really had to make the character angry at him Bumi???

So, um. Let's talk about the COTL plot now.

Katara and Sokka go to try and find Aang and find out that there's a series of elaborate tunnels underneath Omashu, where they run into the singing nomads. This was literally only a plotline so that they had an excuse to sing Secret Tunnel this season. They explain to the siblings the story of Oma and Shu (which is just verbatim from the original series), ending with "Love is brightest in the dark."

Remember that. They preface the storyline of the tunnels by explicitly telling Katara and Sokka about the two lovers. Very romantic.

Katara and Sokka quickly realize that the cave crystals glow in the dark and begin to follow the path. Love is brightest in the dark, right? Along they way they begin bickering because Katara feels like Sokka still sees and treats her like a child.

Eventually they get pursued by a badger mole who begins to chase them. They apologize to one another and hold hands as they think they're about to be killed but...the badger mole stops attacking.

Why does it stop attacking, you ask?

Because now apparently badger moles can feel human emotions. They don't like feeling people fight and want to feel the love between them instead.

I was LOSING IT at this part. "Love is brightest in the dark" was apparently metaphorical.

And don't get me wrong, I love seeing platonic and familial love portrayed in media...but like, to do this storyline...don't preface it with a romantic tale of two lovers????? It gives off a very unintentionally creepy vibe for the siblings. And I'm sure I don't have to explain why badger moles being able to sense love is just dumb as shit.

Moving on....Bumi is nice again. Yay.

They go to the town where Hei Bai is attacking and Aang somehow accidentally pulls Katara and Sokka into the spirit world with him because the writers also wanted to have The Swamp here. Oh, and the Koh storyline. He doesn't steal faces for showing emotion anymore either, he just captures people and eats them later and steals their faces then. Cool.

Oh, and Wan Shi Tong is there and he looks emaciated.

Katara relives the night her mom dies, while Sokka sees a mysterious looking fox in the forest. Initially I assumed this was one of Wan Shi Tong's knowledge seekers but oh no. Oh no, it is much, MUCH worse. We'll come back to it.

Aang manages to find Gyatso in the Spirit World, which again is an idea that I LOVE. Gyatso explains that after he died, he never moved on to the next cycle of enlightenment, instead choosing to stay in case Aang needed him. They have a really touching moment, and Aang promises to come find him again after he finds Katara and Sokka.........which we'll come back to.

The events of The Blue Spirit happen, not much to talk about here. Aang connects with Roku (apparently he can only connect with past Avatars at their respective shrines, btw) and finds out Roku stole a totem of The Mother of Faces from Koh and that's why Koh hates the Avatar. Why steal that totem?? Hell if I know. Roku's also a funny man now I guess.

Aang saves Katara and Sokka from being Koh food and all is well. Yay.

They finally get to the North and this is where the show really went from being mid to pure cringe for me.

The "women only learn healing" plot is still here. Katara is rightfully angry about it, but Aang's like "oh well maybe you should listen to them". Yes, really.

Here Aang is so worried about losing anyone else, which, obviously understandable. But he doesn't want Katara and Sokka, especially Katara, to fight AT ALL. Which I mean. OG Aang never once tried discouraging her from learning to fight. Obviously he loves her and does have concern for her safety a number of times throughout the show and comics, but he also knows she can kick ass and stand her ground on her own and never tries to stop her.

Katara fights Pakku, and despite literally the day before saying she still has a lot to learn and a long way to go, she's just instantly declared a master waterbender now!

And oh boy my friends, buckle in because now we're gonna talk about Yue.

First off...her wig looks BAD. Like I'm pretty certain I saw her real hair sticking through a few times. Why not just dye the actress' hair....even Shyamalan's Yue hairstyle looked better than this, and we all know what that looked like.

So right off the bat Sokka asks Katara if Yue is at all familiar. Katara says no but Sokka keeps pressing and eventually follows Yue, where we learn she's a waterbender? Okay, not like her being a waterbender or not has any affect whatsoever on the story, but sure. We also learn that she had previously been engaged to Hahn but broke it off because he "wasn't the boy of her dreams". Not sure why they bothered to write him in the first place.

So...Yue and Sokka begin talking, and Sokka finally realizes why she's familiar to him.

I genuinely had to pause the episode to laugh when this reveal happened.

YUE WAS THE FOX SPIRIT SOKKA SAW IN THE SPIRIT WORLD.

Yes, I'm being 100% serious. When Yue was healed by the moon spirit, she turned into Danny Phantom and can now just hop in and out of the Spirit World. As a fox for God knows what reason.

BTW, this has jack shit to do with anything overall. It adds nothing. It serves NO PURPOSE. Genuinely do not know what the hell they were trying to do with that.

Um, so yeah. Moving on.

Apparently in this version, Tui and La only become mortal fish once a year or something? On the night of the "ice moon". Your guess as to what on earth an ice moon is is as good as mine.

Zhao begins to lead an invasion on the north and Momo is killed in the crossfire.

Well, almost.

Again I just busted out laughing because Momo has served NO PURPOSE until now, he's just been there because he was in the og series. I'm sorry Momo, as much as I love you....why were you here.

To save a kid from being crushed by falling debris. He just pushes them out of the way and is crushed. The reason is just so that Yue can take him to the Oasis and use healing on him with the Spirit Water.

Katara and Zuko have their classic fight and Zuko says "Oh you've found a master haven't you?" To which Katara replies, "Yeah, me" because she's a master now after 2 days remember?

Koizilla happens...the tribe is saved...Yue makes her sacrifice. So now she can go be the moon instead of a fox I guess.

Also, I think Iroh killed Zhao, despite earlier in the series refusing to kill the Earth Kingdom soldier who captured him because "we've all seen enough death."

And then...Aang goes back to the Spirit World, to find that the little "house" Gyatso was in is empty now. Gyatso is just gone now, with no explanation, although he seemed to know when he met with Aang beforehand that he would be gone from the Spirit World next time Aang tried to find him. Great job, taking the only interesting storyline made up for this series and just throwing it out the window for no rhyme or reason!

Now lemme talk about Azula....

She's not even Azula anymore. She's really insecure and worried about pleasing her father. Because whenever I thought of Azula, I always thought "insecure!" Like I get what they were going for, Zhao says this honestly kinda raw line about Zuko merely being the fire to sharpen the iron that was Azula, but like....why did she have to be this insecure person now? Also why is she even an archer now? It again has nothing to do with anything

Mai and Ty Lee are there for also no reason at all other than to be like "HEY REMEMBER THESE TWO CHARACTERS FROM THE ORIGINAL SHOW?!" They just stand there and watch Azula train sometimes.

The show ends with a Fire Sage showing Ozai through their planetarium (which they have now I guess) that Sozin's Comet is returning "soon." Who knows when! Just soon!

Also, Kataang shippers do not get your hopes up. Not that I expected much Kataang here at all, but I swear they barely even feel like friends until the end. It almost seems like Katara is more interested in him than he is in her.

My expectations of this series were low from the beginning. When it was first announced this project was in development, I said it was unnecessary and couldn't improve upon the OG in any way...and I was right. Even as its own thing entirely divorced from the cartoon, it's just kind of bland and downright confusing at times.

Anyways, my fingers hurt now so I'm going to wrap this up. Apparently I've been typing for like 1.5 hr now lol

i watched the 911 promo clip and here are my thoughts

captain hats - obviously one them becoming the interim captain

i know a lot of you on tumblr don't like the idea of it being buck but i think it could be him

hen will be settling in with the new child and that requires a lot from a person

chim is busy planning the wedding with maddie and literally every time a wedding has happened the person planning was not captain

it could be eddie but we've never really seen him want to be anything more than the role he has at the fire station currently

we saw how buck took charge in the bridge collapse and it's made him think his ready to actually be a captain but the cruise will make him realise he still hasn't properly dealt with his trauma and maybe he isn't actually ready for (or doesn't actually want) the captain's title

like i said chim is busy helping plan the wedding so maybe he won't actually be on call for the cruise

everyone he knows, all of his family, is working on it except him

it'll be a fun callback to season 2 after he got stabbed and called tommy(?, an old member of the 118 who transferred) in for extra help

of course they both have their girlfriends (marisol and natalia) but they just don't understand this situation and the trauma they shared together and how bad it affected them

i think the time on the watch is at 7:30 (obviously i could be wrong) and y'know what else had 7 and 3?? 3 minutes and 17 seconds

the number has been such a big part of tragic/traumatic storylines throughout the show i wouldn't be surprised if it was here now

timing is such a great them and goes perfectly with the already set up storylines for this season

madney wedding - there's no time like the present, lets gather everyone we love and have a wedding in a meaningful place (bathena backyard) and be happy together forever as soon as possible

baby wilson - they're finally ready to grow healthily, they've had a lot of things test their marriage (hen cheating, ivf, hen's kidnapping, karen losing her job, hen going to med school, karen almost dying in an explosion at her work) and now they can finally say they're at a place where they want to expand their family properly and permanently

buddie's girlfriends - the issue with their girlfriends had always been timing and when they meet, did marisol and natalia come at the right time? will they stay and be permanent for the boys? will they break up? will the break up still leave them as friends (i hope so)

bathena cruise - i don't need to say much. they thought they finally had time to relax and be themselves and be with each other. it seems the only way they're going to get that is retirement

you can see a helicopter light, could be lucy or tommy flying - we know they both can

the time duration on the call being 1:18 is great 10/10

Prisoner-Part 9

Hiya everyone! A big thank you to everyone here and on AO3 who have supported this story <3 I have a good number of ideas and plans for this series, so I'm gonna try and update it between requests I've gotten! It's been a long time since I got to post a story, and I'm hoping to have more time to write now that I'm all done with college!

You didn’t even have the energy to cry anymore…nothing seemed worth it, and your fear dissolved into nothing. As a response to what you saw, you seemingly lost every emotion you had. No sadness, but no happiness either. It was as if you weren’t capable of feeling emotions anymore, and it should have scared you…but it didn’t. 

Dark and Anti had walked with you in silence, as they agreed to let you stay with Dark for the week. Anti was “too pent up” to be a proper host, and you didn’t really want to go with him right now. You would never forget his crazed smile and wicked laughter as he effortlessly killed the man you loved. Dark wasn’t much better, smiling with eyes that just screamed “I’m right in doing this.” 

Anti left, almost as soon as you had walked from the entrance to your new room. That’s right…your new room. They were never going to let you leave. The worst part? You didn’t really care. Life didn’t seem to have as much meaning as it held before, nor did death. It was unclear, even to you, what would come of this “arrangement” you had with them, all you could think about was J. 

You were shocked back into focus when Dark rested a hand on your shoulder. Flinching, almost instinctively, you kept your eyes looking straight ahead, never at him. He sighed, but removed his hand. It was hard to tell what he was feeling, and even harder to know what he was thinking. But you were determined not to let him know how destroyed you were over what he did. Him and Anti really were demons. Monsters, and relentless. 

“I’ll be in my study, you can find me when you wish. I’ll be back in a couple hours to check on you.” He spoke, though his words could have been considerate, it held a cold and calculating tone. It drove you crazy, and you didn’t give him any indication you heard him at all. Instead, you walked into the room further, and shut the door in his face. 

He didn’t protest, and you heard his footsteps as he walked away from the door. Now that you were alone…you had no idea what to do. There was everything you’d ever hoped for in this room. There was a tv, video games, a desk with study materials, crafting sections, and a bed that looked like it came right out of an expensive advertisement. Of course there was a bathroom, and as you looked down…you realized how badly you needed to shower and get changed. 

You had J’s blood all over your hands, literally and metaphorically. Would you have been able to prevent his death if you acted differently? Would they have spared him if you agreed to their terms? You ran your fingers through your hair, tugging lightly with a scowl. Those questions weren’t going to get you anywhere, and you knew that. But they wouldn’t stop flooding your brain. 

In the end, you decided to take a bath, firmly locking the door even though it was very possible anyone living here could go right through the damn door. You shoved your clothes in the trash can, not wanting to wear bloodied clothes. It hurt, not knowing where to go from here. Until then, you sink slowly into the tub, washing your body thoroughly to rid yourself of his blood. It didn’t help like you hoped it would, and you stared at your hands, then the bathtub that had a red tint to the water. 

You searched your hands, almost as if the meaning to the universe was held within the creases. They shook violently, and you slammed them into the water. You scowled, and searched for any trace of emotion. The only one you found was anger, and even that quickly dissipated. You should be sad...devastated even. Why weren’t you upset? Did J not matter to you? You know he did…so then…why do you feel empty? Maybe…you’re the real monster. 

You watched someone you loved get killed right in front of you, and what did you do? Go with the murderers. You hardly even put up a fight. What were you supposed to do? Nothing you’d ever been through prepared you for this situation. How could anything prepare you to experience the vileness and cruelty of two demons second hand? If anything…you just hoped wherever J went, he was safe and happy now.

With one last deep breath, you got out of the bathtub, wrapping yourself in a towel. It occurred to you that you never looked for a change of clothes in the room. However it seemed like that wasn’t a problem. An outfit laid out in black and red sat on the bed, a small note beside it. You blinked, knowing exactly who it was from. But in an act of defiance, you looked through the closet and found something else to wear. Most of it was in your favorite colors, but a portion was solid black and red. 

You heard a knock at the door, and got dressed without any rush. “One sec.” You said, and it was surprising how monotone your voice was. There wasn’t a trace of emotion, and really…that shouldn’t have surprised you. Glancing at the door, you hesitated to answer. In the end, you decided it would be better to open it than deal with the angry man on the other side of the door. 

You blinked time and time again, noticing how the knocking never stopped. There wasn’t a single pause in the knocks, nor did it get any louder or quieter. It made you groan softly, wondering just what Dark’s plan was. Annoyance remained on your face, as you glared through the door. If it was Dark, he was baffling you. So why is he trying so hard to talk to you? He said he’d check on you in a couple hours, surely you weren’t in the bath that long. 

You huffed, and approached the door, ready to scream at him. The fear you felt resurfaced briefly, before a swarm of rage washed over you. That all…disappeared and was replaced with shock as you looked at the presumably demon before you. He looked like Dark…but also nothing like him all at the same time. 

The man smiled wide, reminding you of a puppy, and opened his arms wide as if to ask for a hug. 

“Hiya gumdrop! Ready for your tour?”

Being better

Obviously, I haven't updated this blog in a while. You might ask "Why?" The simple answer is that I have been working on myself. During this time, I have learnt important things and I am still learning things. So here some tips and lessons I've learnt in the span of 3 months.

 #1: Having a journal

This is probably the most common tip and for a good reason. It allows you to properly articulate and rationalize your thoughts and feelings. At first, I was really resistant to having one and just unmotivated to do it. However, change isn't supposed to be easy or comfortable. I've gotten to the point where I can't go on with my day unless I journal. So what do I do? The first thing I do is write an entry from my 30 day manifestation prompts. It basically just asks what I would do in 30 years or what I would do with a million  dollars. It really gets my gears turning and I always look forward to it. As of June 23rd, I am on day 14 out of 30; almost half way there! After I finish that, I write one word of the day and its definition. I don't think it particularly adds to my mental health but it's always cool to learn new words. The next thing I do is list 3 things I'm grateful for. The first two are always about my health and family and the third one is usually based off my day before. Then I make a "To Do" list. It's all nuance and menial things but it gives me a purpose to the day. Nowadays it's usually cook or go out and tan. Extremely menial. The final thing I do is make a list of around 20 affirmations. You might laugh at that but that is not negotiable for me. These affirmations have helped my confidence immensely. I always put that everything is ok and you know what? My life has been so stress free since. I go to bed with a smile and I wake up with one.

#2: Being outside

Vitamin D does wonders!! Not only am I tan and look like I AM GLOWING, I feel like so good! I've been trying to spend as much time outside as I can (when it's not too hot). I usually have lunch at the beach or I go on walks. I've also spent so much time with friends through this, something I am extremely grateful for. The fresh air and the sun always cheers me up. I've become a lot more rational in my thought and quite articulate because instead of moping around my room, I force myself to pack and beach bag and walk my butt to the beach. If the weather is nice, there is no way I am missing that! 

#3: Finding a hobby 

I have been loving cooking recently. It is so much fun and has so many benefits. I am not just eating my own work but I control everything going into my body. I've been cooking a lot of fish and pasta (with veggies and stuff). I gained back the weight I lost and I'm no longer underweight. But the weight gain is all healthy and my skin has been glowing. My skin is clearer and my hair has gotten so much stronger. Plus, my mom loves my cooking and it has been a way for us to bond!

#4: Not caring about what other people need to say

What other people have to say about you is just straight nonsense. It's a perception and that's about it. It is not who you are because guess what! Only you can determine that! I used to care but honestly it did more damage than good. Whenever someone would say something negative about me, I'd start feeling negatively about myself, and that's what I would put out. I've taken back that power and now I put out what I am feeling : Good. I am at peace and I find that everything around me has become peaceful. Someone told me I was a bad person but how would he/she know that? They didn't know me. They didn't try to know me. And they most certainly weren't me. So the answer to that is no, I am not a bad person. I am not a good person either. I am simply a person and what people think of me shouldn't diminish or give fuel to a preexisting bias against me. I have done a lot of good things. If you sat there and upheld I am an objectively bad person, does that mean I will always be ruled by that? Will my years of charity work and support be diminished to nothing because I have done bad things? The answer to all that is still no. You do bad things; everyone does. That is just how life is.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I know it is a short list but these four things have helped me immensely to overcome my fears and get myself out of an extremely long depressive episode. Much love <3

13th Sept 2023 Progress Update

I hear you all. Your pleas are reaching me. Your cries are entering my ears. When I close my eyes at night, I can see you crying, Yes I am in your walls, no I'm not gonna pay rent. Unsurprisingly, uhm… I'm not done with the update yet. So I thought a progress update was my best shot before you all hunt me down. (Yes, I'm being overdramatic. No, nobody asked for a progress update.)

Stuff I've done:

6 out of the 10 branches are fully done.

Not including the end scene, where you all return to the same place so I can end the demo.

But that'll be quick

90% of the code is finished, aka all the base code is done, and only choices/options still need to be implemented (which will be done while writing)

I would say I'm about 70 - 75% done?

I also switched to a new app to code and write in, and it's been motivating me more

Stuff that needs doing:

Obviously the 4,5 scenes

Grammar and spell check

There is a lot of code in this chapter and I will manually playtest some of it since it wouldn't show up in quick tests as errors, but logically they are errors.

Set up more code and pray to the indentation gods to have mercy on my soul

How long do I think this will take to finish? If I don't get hit with a sudden energy boost and finish it tonight? (highly unlikely) Not this week. I won't be home during the weekend, so maybe next week? Or the week after. Somewhere around the end of September. Do not hold me accountable tho. Maybe I'll finish it tomorrow. I don't have control over me, my body finishes the update whenever it wants to.

Nerd stats: The current update is about 700 lines, 2.5k and added about 10 minutes of reading time.

Rambling under the cut

Realistically, when you play the update it's not going to seem like a lot because it will only be practically 4 branches you play, but depending on the order you chose to do these things, you can get up to 3 different scenes, and very likely will miss certain scenes that require you to do stuff in a certain order. I really hope this adds a ton of replayability to the update, it's been kicking my goddamn ass.

There are no consequences for missing scenes, dw. I just refused to only settle for one set possible scene per branch, like in Chapter 2, Don't get me wrong Chapter 2 is fine, but it's not what I wanted for this update. I wanted to include more dynamic movement of the characters, and I think I've done an okay job at it so far. I am not sure if this will be something I will do more often, esp it slows me down a lot, but now that I've almost finished it, there isn't as much dread about it as before. I genuinely laid in bed and didn't want to open my laptop and continue, BCS I was dreading the code and all the extra writing. I've done a good job at cutting a lot of the extra writing down with smart tempvars, ifs and gotos, it did add a bunch of code, but I think it has saved me a lot of headaches. Maybe once I get quicker at coding, this will be something I'll do more often.

I bit off a lot with the update and how I wanted it to work, and it has been a big challenge for me so far. I love the general option to go off and just explore, that's why I included it in the last two chapters. Having the replayability of all those different branches and scenes is something that I want to keep doing and adding to the game. But I am unsure of how much I can add before I feel like I am updating too slowly and start rushing the scenes, or not adding enough and making it feel too restricted in my opinion. But that will be something I will figure out over time.

I hope that when I finish the update, you will enjoy all the new content, find the different branches and scenes, and see how they play out for your MC. I'm a bit scared that it might not be as fun to play as I hoped, but that's a bridge I'll cross when I get there.

Barley Calhoun Is The Human Daughter Of Barney Calhoun And Currently Unnamed Mother And Is From The Universe That The Original Half-Life Games Take Place. Barley Was Born Before The Suppression Field Was Put Into Place And Was Hid In Secret By Her Mother And Eventually A Scientist Known As Dr. Cohrt. She Sticks With Dr. Cohrt For A Long Time, Helping With The Work He Does, Seeing Him Somewhat As A Father Figure.

Eventually, Like Her Parents, She Goes Under Cover For The Resistance And Becomes A Metro Cop. Around The Same Time, Dr. Cohrt Gets In Contact With Eli Vance And Isaac Kliener. Working Together As Gordon Freeman Eventually Comes Back. They Make Their Move To City 17 To Help With The Uprising. Sadly, Due To Dr. Cohrt's Age, He's Unable To Fight Back And Eventually Dies.

Barley Continues To Fight Against The Combine And Finally Meets Up With The Other Scientist. Soon, She Finds Barney And Realises He Is Her Father. It's Not Easy For Her To Get Along With Him At The Start As It Is Right After She Loses What She Thought Was The Last Family She Had, But Soon She Does Start Seeing Him Properly As Her Father.

When She's In Her Mid 20s, She's Approached By The G-Man, Representing His Employers. She Tries To Avoid The Job She's Given That Would Hire Her But Eventually Does It By Accident Anyways. Therefore Putting Her In Similar Position To The G-Man. This Automatically Gives Her A Long Life, Technically Immortality But Barley Can Still Get Fatally Wounded But Still Won't Die. Eventually She Gets The Power To Travel Across Universes, Which Is How She Goes Into The HLVRAI Universe And Meets Benrey, Gordos And The Gang, As Well As The Kickstart For The Events That Led To Everett.

Speaking Of The Boy!

Everett Calhoun Is The (Unconfirmed Fanon) Son Of Barley Calhoun And Arden Ardven. Obviously, He Took His Mother's Last Name. He Was Born After His Mother Got Pregnant After Eating His Father Heart. After Barley Found Out That Arden Couldn't Regenerate Any Part Of Him If It Was Eaten, She Took It Upon Herself To End Arden And Took His Heart, Therefore Ate It. Everett Never Knew Who His Father Actually, He Understood That Benrey Was His Uncle Due To Being Related, He Knew Of Arden's Life As His Actions Greatly Affected Not Only His Biological Family But His Alien Species As A Whole. The Reason Why It Took So Long For Him To Find Out Was Because No One Didn't Know How To Break The News To Him Until Barley Rips Off The Bandaid For Him When He Was 13.

Everett Wasn't Much Of A People Person Growing Up, He Only Really Hung Out With People He Knew His Mother Trusted, So Most Of His Family, He Considers His Friends. The Only Person He Could Really Consider An Actual Friend That Isn't Family Is Joshua. He's Very Attached To His Uncle Benrey, As Benrey Felt A Father Figure To Him. Everett Is Very Expressive Both Physically And Emotionally, He Uses Sweet Voice A Lot, Especially Into Adulthood. When He Does Eventually Find Out Arden Is His Father, He Becomes More Noticeably Anxious About Stuff. Although Everett Is His Own Person, He Has Nightmares About Parts Of Arden Living On Inside Him.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been a meteoric success, which is significant because animated films typically don't do as well as live action ones, doubly so as a video game adaptation film. In this vein, do you hope that when Sonic one day have an animated feature film (obviously not the next one since it's a live-action sequel), it would have a similar success like the Mario movie? Not necessarily a billion-dollar one, but maybe more successful than the live-action ones?

That would be nice, yeah. In the back of my mind I wonder if they're watching how well Mario does being so pure and faithful to the source material. Because when you think about it, there isn't actually a lot in the Sonic movies that's actually directly from the games.

There's a lot of inspiration, sure. You'll catch something like Agent Stone working at a coffee shop called "The Mean Bean", but that's a small background thing. Or Sonic will grab a piece of trash and go snowboarding with it, stuff like that. But it's not like he's IN THE ACTUAL ICECAP ZONE, with the ICECAP ZONE MUSIC PLAYING while he does it, you know? Which Mario has. Cranky Kong tells Mario to "pick his kart" and he plops down in front of the interface from the game while a riff on the Mario Kart 8 selection music plays. And then, when they get out driving down Rainbow Road, you hear a brief, soaring orchestral version of the SNES Rainbow Road music.

And that's really nice, you know?* It's not making excuses for itself. For all the work they did redesigning Sonic to not be so creepy looking in those Paramount movies, Mario did the one thing that makes the Sonic movies look like they're still embarrassed of the video games. Sonic winks to people who know the games, whereas Mario makes it the whole subtext. Lumas and Koopa Troopas and Kongs all over the place.

Though, to be clear: the Mario movie also does go out of its way to make a "new version" of the Mario Universe specific to the movies. We get a lot of characters in this movie that have never ever been seen in the games. We get to see Mario's whole family, they suggest Peach might have a mysterious origin story, little elements like that which the movie "owns."

But regardless, it's more pure, you know? The Mario movie feels more like Mario than the Sonic movies feel like Sonic, or at least, I think so.

So I imagine, as pre-production of the third Sonic movie continues, they're looking closely at what Mario's doing right and discussing what lessons they would be willing to apply going forward. Though, certainly, if they're adapting Sonic Adventure 2 now, that lends itself more than anything else to Sonic being in a world of humans.

But hey, fingers crossed for Live & Learn over the final battle, right?

And maybe, just maybe, we'll get a Sonic movie some day that's all animation. As I left the theater, I was definitely wondering what a Sonic movie would look like if it was like that. Probably sort of like Night of the Werehog, but updated with more expensive rendering techniques, right? It would be pretty nice.

*To the person who complained to me months ago that the Sonic movies needed to include more game music, and I tried to find an excuse for that: I'm sorry for everything I said.

I was just wondering if the amount of lip reading you do has changed noticeably since you had your hearing aided?

not intrusive at all! at first I still instinctively lip read, but during the mandatory mask wearing I obviously stopped for a while (which was when I realised precisely how deaf I was, id always lip read as second nature so never really noticed it, but when that visual aid was taken away I realised how much I relied on it to have conversations), so I kinda got out of the habit anyway. for the first 2 weeks I think I instinctively kept lip reading though, but now I don't do it as much. I can hear people talking behind me so I don't need to. ive also noticed a reduction in my mental fatigue and migraines, which makes me wonder how much brainpower was being directed towards just trying to understand the world around me. so basically yeah I don't seem to instinctively look at peoples mouths when they talk to me as much anymore, although I did at first. it seems to have freed up a lot of mental energy for me to focus on other stuff now too!

and im really glad you and everyone else loves that post so much, I stopped updating it since I've been working so much and its pretty much the same sounds day in and day out, but if I find new sounds I enjoy I will keep adding to it. im still discovering this soundscape! im looking forward to a nice day off where I can go for a hike and then tell you all about the noises ive heard.

Happy STS! You described yourself as a pantsrer with a vague outline. How detailed do you tend to make those outlines?

OH BOY I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY OUTLINES!!!

So these are all the plot points that I go through:

Act 1: Setup

Status quo

Inciting Incident. 

Plot Point One: The protagonist decides to tackle the challenge head-on. She ‘crosses the threshold,’ and the story is now truly moving.

Act 2: Confrontation

Rising Action. The story's true stakes become clear; our hero grows familiar with her ‘new world’ and has her first encounters with some enemies and allies. (see Tests, Allies, Enemies)

Midpoint. An event that upends the protagonist’s mission. (Similar to the climax in Freytag’s pyramid)

Plot Point Two. In the wake of the disorienting midpoint, the protagonist is tested — and fails. Her ability to succeed is now in doubt.

Act 3: Resolution

Pre Climax. The night is darkest before dawn. The protagonist must pull herself together and choose between decisive action and failure.

Climax. She faces off against her antagonist one last time. Will she prevail?

Denouement. All loose ends are tied up. The reader discovers the consequences of the climax. A new status quo is established.

I copy and pasted it from an article I found on plotting. Each point gets a couple of bullet points at most, but nothing much. I have general notes for the books to come on general stuff that I want to happen. I find it hard to actually plot a book having the last one not finished, but I have a good idea of where I will be taking the books so I can foreshadow things in other books! Obviously when I am done with book one i will be free to completely draft book 2.

Here's an example of what's in status quo for book one of daycycle:

We see how Menodora has been living so far, going from town to town without much thought on her mind. Maybe she helps someone to establish that at heart she likes helping people? I think that will be nice, a good show of character too.

This does happen in the draft, but as you can see there's a lot of wiggle room for me to do. The bigger the plot area, like the rising action, the more paragraphs it gets, but I never have like a super ton of stuff since the rest I except myself to pants. It has been so helpful!! The outline isn't like 100% updated and I might tweak some stuff, but it's so vague that I almost don't need to? The things I wrote down are still true despite the fact that the wip has fleshed out sm.

This is better than when I'd write highly detailed outlines and get out of them easily and have to write them again. After that I tried no outline which gave me the room to wiggle and bullshit, but didn't give me foresight to know what I was bullshitting to. But ive added two important characters that weren't in the outline, and they still work in the outline because the things I said needed to get done are still getting done, just now through them.

Something really helpful when plotting is to go through a book that you really like and try to identify that plot points within it. I usually use books from the cruel prince series because i am obsessed with that LMFAO. Ofc this won't work for everyone. I think it really works for me since I'm so character focused, so the arcs that I need my characters to go through are so universal that the hows can easily be changed, uk?

🤲 what do YOU get out of writing?

I mentioned the personal and creative fulfillment in the previous ask but the other thing is the community and immediate gratification of fic writing. I do write original fiction too and I miss the feedback I get when I post a new chapter in a fic. It's hard finishing something up without getting to hear people's favourite silly little joke, you know? I'm weak!!!

💋 when you leave comments on a fic, do you want to hear back from the writer?

Hmm I don't feel especially strongly one way or another 🤔 If I've asked a question then I suppose I like getting an answer. And there have been a couple of times I've left an author multiple comments and not gotten responses and I do slightly worry that it's because they hate me and want me to stop commenting but I recognize that my reaction is ridiculous and entirely in my head. In general I'm fine either way and if an author isn't replying because they're busy and/or overwhelmed I get it and I would never want to add any pressure to them!

💫 what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

It's probably a cop-out but I really do like most of them! Yeah the in-depth comments with theories and notes on characterization and stuff are incredible (and I am hugging everyone who has ever sent one of those) but I do enjoy the simple heart emojis or "kudos!" comments too.

I guess the only things I don't like are impatient demands for an update (believe me, I promise I feel bad enough about my WIPs already) or when people are very critical of a character or call them stupid in a non-affectionate way. Most of the time the vibe is "they're stupid because the pining is so obviously mutual!!!" but in a fun way because we know we're reading an idiots to lovers fic so obviously the pining is mutual but sometimes the tone is off or something and it feels like a criticism of my characterization because Obi-Wan is not that stupid in canon so why am I writing him like that? Idk, even when my characters are doing something dumb I want their actions to seem rational to them and it makes me worry I'm not accomplishing that. I'm probably being too sensitive but those comments do make me overthink (even more than usual).

🍭 why did you start writing?

It's a bit silly in retrospect but I started writing obikin specifically because I'd been reading fics for a couple months (and loving them!) but it seemed to me that a lot of fics were about how handsome and amazing Obi-Wan is and there were fewer talking up Anakin. Which I do get a) because Anakin goes on multiple killing sprees and helps run a fascist dictatorship for 20 years and b) it's harder to write Obi-Wan pining over Anakin because of the power imbalance between them. Even I struggled with it when I wrote my one master/padawan fic and I made it extremely clear that Anakin had been in love with Obi-Wan for ages already.

But the first obikin fic I ever wrote was a 5+1 that could be summarized as "everyone thinks Anakin is extremely charming and pretty" and honestly I've never really strayed from that. I like to think there's more going on but whenever I write from Obi-Wan's POV I tend to go a bit overboard with the immediate attraction. In my defence Anakin is very cute.

🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?

I'd say: not very poetic, lots of dialogue (I write dialogue first and fill in the gaps afterwards) and heavy on the POV character's internal monologue. I often struggle to describe what characters are doing and then I start making everyone shrug constantly to compensate. If I didn't find first person POV kind of annoying it would probably be a natural fit for my writing. I try to change things up occasionally especially if I'm writing in a different genre than usual but I feel like my style is still pretty consistent. But I could be wrong!

At first it may not make that much sense but if you find the hidden doc everything he says in No Name #3 makes sense

In the file we see Kohaku destroyed an au so HiMERU had to make another one. Judging from the wording and the moth mentioned, the new au HiMERU made is the one with Moth Kohaku

Btw. This moth Kohaku's story can be found in the author's Twitter! (@/Iambeegrape) Dw Kohaku according to HiMERU you're the mc. And so far there hasn't been any mention of like Aira and other people so..

If you’re too lazy to read the doc basically, Kohaku made a mess (destroyed some crystals) sooo he has to clean it up

Going back to the Kohaku being mad it's a love triangle..

Due to me having a short memory I can barely remember the earlier events of CHAU so everything that's left in there is jumbled up

CHAU from what I remember it obviously started with a Kohaku Oukawa x Reader x Aira Shiratori

Eichi decided that the candy MC makes is basically drugs so he sends MC away to the human world to collect red(?) crystal hearts

MC falls from the sky and ends up getting saved by Kohaku (We see this basically being predetermined bc Kohaku had a dream about saving someone falling from the sky and woww it happened..I think the dream thing happened in the Prequel?)

Blah blah blah..MC keeps everyone updated by using Twitter and goes M.I.A for a while bc the whole engagement thing happened (MC was passed out)

That's basically the main story (Or rather what I can really remember that is from the main story since I'm not sure which is which..If it's from the prequel, main story, or the distorted party)

I want someone to make a list of Kohaku's crimes bc..He committed a lot in this story

Sorry if everything is a mess. I tend to jump from one topic to another to also not forget what I have on my mind since when I don't write it out I completely forget what it is

We see a certain technique in the story..That is..To feed MC to get rid of/change the topic

They also seem to have a thing for drugging MC to sleep

There was one time in Eichi's office, Kohaku's sister, and Kohaku himself

Eichi put noir hearts in the sweets which acts as a sleeping drug to MC

Kohaku's sister put a trail of candies with sleeping drugs in it for MC to follow (Keep in mind that MC KNEW it's a classic kidnapping trap but still ate and followed the candies anyways bc yes)

And Kohaku in Prequel chapter 21. We see that there's a black dust on top of the sweets that makes MC fall asleep

He started to feed MC sweets only when MC started to talk about the end and all that stuff

So yayyy! Want to distract MC? Feed them sweets! It's up to you if you want to make them fall asleep or not (And speaking of sleep, I am getting sleepy..fast)

After a few sentences we get to the part where HiMERU creates another Kohaku song promotion: Sweet sweet white song

Kohaku being the man he is tried to unalive his other self because that other Kohaku might steal MC away from him

Before what happened above though when Kohaku was destroying other au's he once again made it clear that he doesn't care for other MC's

Kohaku only loves one MC. His MC. The one he calls "Omae". It doesn't matter if in some other au, let's say Mayoi..Has a relationship with MC as long as the MC isn't his MC

At least, that's what I can understand. I'm not sure if he has different opinions depending on the character MC has a relationship with

Btw..There's something I'm curious about..

Since the story is an x reader the format is like "You do this and that"

The DayDream is in first person and there was this line (I also mentioned this in my previous part of Fanfic theory)

"are you... Are you the viewer? The fiend ? Or some bypassed stranger?" His golden eyes stared down at me.

Does that mean that the person there a.k.a the person HiMERU is talking to us? The reader themselves? Like actual actual reader. The irl one

And what does he mean by "trip"? What trip?

I never solved the code there. I was extremely sleepy during that time like rn..And honestly? I suck at math. Even basic math. I don't trust myself with those numbers and letters, I always gotta check if it's right

Fine print -> this is the one i've reread the most out of your works. i love glimpses of cake and their past relationship and how it affects present day luke and how in the end luke calls calum (out of respect i guess) to basically ask for his permission to date ash.

Coy Fish -> probably my favorite cashton fic (calum is all of us in this one :D), i also liked how you wrote muke here (their dynamics, and michael calling luke bambi)

Paint me -> i absolutely love the scene where they're all seeing ash for the first time in the painting class and the last scene where malum finds lashton in bed in the end

i love that you brought up cake in FP! when writing, I considered it being an act of respect, yeah! because it's, like, here's someone you've built your entire life around and also, in a lot of ways, torn your life apart for and even though you're not with them anymore, there's still that inherent need to feel like you're doing right by them. and i dont necessarily think that Luke was asking permission bc if Cal had said "no, im not ok with that" (which he kind of was implying) i dont think that would have stopped luke from pursuing ashton. I think it just would have made it harder for him. i think he just wanted Cal to know. bc he felt like he owed it to him. i have lots of thoughts on Fine Print cake obviously lol.

okay as a person thag hasn’t grown much since i was about 14, the majority of my clothes are from when i was a mid-teen and now i’m in my twenties!! how do i start dressing like an adult?! i hate to get rid of clothes when they still fit/aren’t ruined/some are still cute(but too young). ahh!!! i also feel bad getting rid of clothes when most of them were bought by my parents (because i was in middle school haha)

how did you find your style? do you feel you dress “your age”

where do you get your clothes?

Well lots of people compliment my outfits and I do really enjoy shopping so you've come to the right place. If you have room you should put away anything that's good quality but not currently in, as it will come back. But you really shouldn't be dressing like a teenager if you're in your 20s so donate anything that's too Young. A lot of it is probably fine if you get some more updated pieces to wear with. I found my style by dressing in stuff that suited me and that I liked and by popping into shops without my of an agenda and just getting stuff when it jumped out. This is obviously easier if you have some disposable income. But also how you dress is how you tell the world how to treat you, so though it can seem trivial it's actually very strategic and important. You define your style by asking how you want to be seen. When you can afford to go for quality over quantity - a nice blazer isn't going to go out of style ever - but I love Mango etc as well. Also TK Maxx in the UK has some really good stuff (I got an amazing italian yarn Ralph Lauren white roll neck jumper in there last week for like £45). I also like boutiquey little shops where they've done a lot of the work selecting stuff for you. ASOS is obviously amazing too. Finally just be confident in it, if you feel comfortable you'll always look better than if you're uncomfortable (but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try new styles)
