HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!!!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic new years (night or party)! Even tho it’s sad dbda got cancelled I’m glad 2024 gave us that tv show, it literally changed my life and I can’t imagine for it not existing :( I know it’s dumb to believe in miracles but I still HOPE that maybe next year some magic happens and we can get a dead boy detectives spin off, second season or at least something else.

I miss it so much :(

But anyway, I’m so happy I got to meet some amazing mutuals (you know who yall are!) and I hope next year I can continue meeting new people and hopefully be more active here and maybe work on dbda fanfics 👀 or other stuff dbda related. Just wanted to post a quick note saying today is the 5th anniversary of when I finally went to my first 5SOS show. Every year I think about how wildly different my fandom experience would've been if I'd been able to attend previous tours, how everything aligned just right for me to finally go to MYT, how I almost talked myself out of attending the night before, how completely unrecognizable my life would be today if I hadn't gone. I probably wouldn't have a blog to post this to. You wouldn't know me, I wouldn't know you. I never would've met so many of my friends. I wouldn't have ever met my best friend, the best friend I've ever known. I never would've rediscovered my love for writing. I genuinely don't know how I would be spending my days and I wonder if they would still be filled with the kind of joy I have found here in this community.

It feels fitting that this reflective day coincides with the last show of this tour, a tour that has been powered by appreciation for the bond we share and celebration of the time we've all spent together. Keeping up with this tour has been impossibly fun (and sometimes just plain impossible) and I can't think of a better way to have spent the past three months. I'm happy to have experienced it - and the past 5 years - with this band and with all of you. Thank you to this band, to my friends, to anyone who's ever interacted with me here and most of all, to Past Me for buying those tickets all those years ago. I wouldn't have a place to call home without you. 💙

Hush. Let me have this. I worked too hard for this beautiful art wall, and I don't want to think about when I'll have to take it down yet.

I'm going to go from the top left all the way to the bottom right, tag every artist who made all the art you see here, and give a little backstory to the art!!

--Starting at the top left, we have Gene as Cat Stevens, which is an adorable sketch that @koko-raccoon made for me for Halloween when I invaded their inbox for trick-or-treating.

--This is a mini-comic I just Commissioned from @drawthethingdoppelganger of Gene and my Bob's Burgers OC, Alexis. I gave her the roughest and most rushed reference sketch to work with, and she did an incredible job. I'm never getting over the fact that she put a Mickey Mouse on Alexis' shirt and a music note on Gene's overalls. It's so beautiful and perfect and adorable and precious and--

--Here's a sketch I requested from @jae-is-drawing of Bob and Linda in the rain and Linda giving Bob a lil' kiss on his cheek 🥺 They seriously went above and beyond for this sketch, it's so freaking gorgeous and sweet. I can't believe they laid down colors, and did some shading, and lighting too!! They're so talented.

--Then, below the Cat Stevens drawing, is another piece from @koko-raccoon that they surprised me with. They made an adorable piece of my Gravity Falls, OC, Maggie, and her younger, triplet siblings, Dipper and Mabel!! It's the cutest thing ever, I'm so obsessed.

--Then we've got a sketch request that I got from @devilh0rnsinc, and it's so freaking adorable!! I asked them to draw Gene and Alexis sharing a milkshake, and they delivered. I can't stop thinking about them going on a milkshake date now.

--Then, below the Mystery Triplets piece, we've got a Commission I got from @alyssaerin of my sister's and my Animal Crossing characters, who is an extremely sweet and talented artist. I have to thank her once again for being so patient with me throughout the process of when I Commissioned her because I had to cancel my first request, and then when I actually got a request moving, I was a bit picky about the details, pfffft. But it turned out amazing and wonderful.

--Next to that, we've got another @drawthethingdoppelganger piece, and this piece she completely surprised me with. She drew up this fantastic, gorgeous, and colorful piece of Gene (inspired by AJR) and dedicated it to me!! I'm still not over it. Look at his wonderful, flowy hair and his outfit!!

--Then, we've got a Gravity Falls piece I Commissioned from @itscalliebeanie (she's only on Instagram, she doesn't have a Tumblr), of my OCs Maggie and Sydney being adorable dorks together. It came out so sweet and it makes me so happy looking at it. I adore Sydney's guitar. She also did such a good job drawing the shoes!!

--Then we've got the first piece I Commissioned from DT, which yes, I am still not over. It's Bob and Linda based on my "Linda is deaf" AU, and takes place during the episode Something Old, Something New, Something Bob Caters For You, which explains the super cute outfits. But if you've seen my Tumblr at all, you already know all of this, as I've rambled about this piece way too much. But she just did the greatest job on it. Their expressions?? The way you can see Bob signing "yes" with his hand?? Perfect. No notes.

--Next to that, we've got a Boblin piece that DT sketched up and dedicated to me and it makes me so 🥺 Look at them being so happy together. I swear, I am so unwell about Boblin.

--And finally, at the very bottom, we've got a piece I Commissioned from @carnivaldemon of Gene and Alexis. It came out so cute I actually squealed, giggled, and kicked my legs when she sent it to me. The way Alexis is holding an ice cream cone and has a heart on their shirt?? The way Gene is wearing overalls and holding his keyboard and leaning over to kiss Alexis on the cheek?? I can't. Yes, all of those things are things I specifically requested, but still--

Just as he had passed under one of the many shrubs, a woman with the face and presence of a goddess stops by.

“And so I am freed from the fate of having to lock lips with bear-sized men, and am gifted with a lovely damsel instead.” The sigh that escaped him was of relief, the smallest smile blooming on his lips- just enough to wash away some of the gloominess from his fatigued face.

Holding the lady’s chin with one hand as one would cradle a gem, Rufus pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

With a special emphasis on soft, because before he could bask in the feeling a rather unpleasing chirp caused him to step back- and get pecked on the forehead. Not a returning kiss, not from a woman asking for more- but from a pissed off damn bird roaming the area. They were indoors! This was no place to have a nest! “This dreadful creature! This is no place to call home, it is not my fault you have failed to properly plan your livelihood!” Rufus cursed at the angry, swooping bird.

so... it's done. i finished yu gi oh. it was... definetly an experience, that's for sure but i can say with confidence nd love a very fun one! atem is...dead i guess. he already was but this timeit's like, official and that... is understandable. yugi also has the chance to grow into himself in a way he would never be able to if he kept relying on his other self. i hope atem's found peace in the afterlife and it was a great way to end the series! of course, according to the sopilers ive gotten, it won't stay that way for long...

reading/ watching this alongside arcane was... an experience to say the least and the dual brainrot i am recieving is confusing to say the least lol. i can't help but think of their themes side by side, how they directly conflict each other. arcane is about the destructive potential of love and the violence that breeds from it and yet how important that love is and how it is worth fighting for. it's also very morally grey and touches on themes of redemption. yu gi oh is about learning kindness (atem) and the eternal battle between love and hate, how it's better to love and search for revenge and find comfort in the darkness. in that way, it is a timeless tale. And of course it is about the constructive effects of love and friendship and the strength of community and others we can rely on. what we can see but remains unseen... it is a question with many answers. one's own heart and self. friendship. the next card you draw, everything. it's also very much a coming of age story, for both yugi and jounouchi who have fantastic character arcs. it's definetly simpler (and the quality can't really be compared) than arcane and quite straightforward but the ideas it brings to the table and communicates hold the same significance nad merit (well pre memory world and post s0) and while in different ways, both speak of empathy and love as some of the most important parts of the human experience. it's... fascinating and hopeful and the love for the project is clear in both and the themes carry over to the audience well. it's sweet <3
