While the demon-hog was often more happy than not to lend a hand on occasion to the local band of heroes, everything that he'd heard so far sounded like they were worrying over nothing.

"Sure, its not like any of you haven't just vanished in some trip somewhere mysterious previously." An air of sarcasm in tone, shrugging the notions of a potential danger aside given the insinuations. "Sonic practically sprints into those pathways all the time."

"And from the tales I've heard, he usually shows up again days later."

Of course, he could respect the fact they were just concerned over their friend, but it still made little sense right now that apparently he was the one required to help aid them, especially when they were far more familiar with them than he was!

"Look, I bet your Blaze has just gone away for a bit, like a timeout? We all need time to ourselves now and then. What makes you so certain she's remotely in danger?" If they'd come to him of all people instead of lending immediate aid, there must be some reason or evidence otherwise for it to suggest otherwise. Just what weren't they telling him?

"Even if we say she is in some unfriendly place, you know she can handle herself."

"Not to mention, why me? What's stopping you from just dashing off after her?"

Love, now that was a concept that held a very different position in his mind compared to most people’s. To him love was something that trapped people and led them down paths that led to nothing but pain and misery, it was ultimately a pointless emotion that made you weak. Growing up his parents had shown him no love, wanting nothing but to get rid of him. What had surprised him the most about that at such a young age was that he didn't care, their opinions meant nothing to him, no one’s did, the only opinion that mattered was his and perhaps someone else he had an interest in but even that usually disappeared once he was bored of them. Jim’s brother had distanced himself from him growing up, they were two completely different people and whilst he wished no harm to him, Jim thought he was tedious, his existence being noted by nothing other than a line on a family tree.

Circling Elliot he stopped in front of him and pulled him towards him, grabbing his collar tightly. “Did I get ya? I do have that effect on some people, they can't get enough of me. Tell me do you prefer Richard Brook the shy actor who just wanted attention” he said as his voice shook slightly, using the same tone he had used when they had first met and he had pretended to be ‘Richard Brook’. “Or do you like who I really am, come on tell me. Oh wait I nearly forgot, you have no choice” he said releasing him and turning around in a small circle, amused with glee. “You say the word love like you know it, tell me just what would you be willing to do for me. I could just make you do it, but that's no fun, I want you to want to do it” he said with a small smirk that soon disappeared into his cold and emotionless face. He tilted his head slightly from side to side in a reptilian fashion as he waited for his answer.

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

it is legit bizarre to me how hard video game creators and film directors and showrunners try to pretend that fat people don't exist. can you think of the last time you saw a fat person in a lead role? god forbid a fat woman? i can walk down the street or go into a shop or restaurant and see fat people everywhere but then i switch on the tv and suddenly it's like a glimpse into an alternate universe where no one has a bmi over 24. insidious and weird

I've had this little idea in my head for a while now, so I decided to sit down and plot it out.

Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be some sort of One-Worksheet-Fits-All situation. This is meant to be a visual representation of some type of story planning you could be doing in order to develop a plot!

Lay down groundwork! (Backstory integral to the beginning of your story.) Build hinges. (Events that hinge on other events and fall down like dominoes) Suspend structures. (Withhold just enough information to make the reader curious, and keep them guessing.)

And hey, is this helps... maybe sit down and write a story! :)

if you’re ever in the position to choose between giving up and accepting defeat, and actually trying to fight the ancient unkillable god that is about to peel apart reality like a string cheese, remember this: scientifically speaking, you might as well give it a shot!

1.there were trees at the beginning of the world! there were trees so long ago that they predate bacteria that causes wood to decay. when a tree fell, it would lie there in stasis and there wasn’t any way of breaking down wood xylem on a molecular level in that way.

2. it seems obvious to say, but wood eating bacteria are literally incapable of comprehending what they’re breaking down. It’s just not information conciously available to a microorganism. they don’t know what they’re deconstructing, where it came from, bacteria have no way to even fathom the existence of a tree as a concept.

3. Regardless of the facts above, the world we live in today is a world where wood inevitably decomposes

it is worth fighting the unkillable god no matter how pointless it seems. it is worth taking the risk even though youre trying to accomplish something impossible. the reality in which you live was also once reality in which trees didn’t rot. You live in a reality that allows for existence before the possibility of destruction. you live in a reality where uncomprehending microbes break down matter that is so far beyond the scope of their comprehension that it feels comical to specify something so obvious. you live in a reality that occasionally allows unshakeable physical truths to be altered with no warning.

It is worth fighting the unkillable god because trees are so old they predate the source of their destruction, and it still did not spare them. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because bacteria rots unthinkingly, because there is room in our cosmos for destruction without comprehension on the part of the destroyer. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because now and then reality retracts the promise of immortality without fanfare, and when that happens there is no mercy for the ancient. the unmaking is not softer for the desecrators ignorance. for all things, existence is endless until the exact point where it ends.

so you might as well try to kill the unkillable god. it doesn’t seem likely, but at the beginning of the world, trees didn’t rot. so you never know! you never know
