So I headcanon that after his love took his heart to sea, Ratoo was attacked by the Fox, either because he was easy prey or as final act of "mercy" on his lover's part. Ratau swooped in and saved his brother's body, but it was too late. Ratoo was dead.

Since Ratoo wasn't ever in the cult, Ratau couldn't bring him back. Just as he was about to give into despair, The Red Crown itself offered to help: in exchange for half of his virility (his red hearts, in game terms) and taking on half of his brother's non-gaping-chest-wound injuries, he could resurrect Ratoo.

He never told him what actually happened, since he didn't want his rambling man of a brother to feel indebted.

i am like... admittedly a big shipper for the most part but i still feel this so hard. especially hard maybe because my ship-related opinions tend to be so divisive that i wish i could talk to people without that being on the table...

aside from my hyperfixations (3-4 fandoms) i rarely ship anything, but every time i look up one of my other interests it's just endless ship posts and if i'm especially unlucky the algorithm will start feeding me certain ships just because they're popular. it sucks!!

i've been enjoying being explicitly nonship in aa because i really like a lot of the platonic relationships anyway, and i'll probably stick to this for the most part... there are certain ships that i enjoy but i'm not sure if i'll ever make art of them? i think sometimes it just overcomplicates things... idk

Tommy walked along the street, pointing out random boys and joking with his brothers. "Wonder what kind of lad Y/N will end up with..." Not that he'd accept just anyone in his daughter's life.

Arthur snorted, "any guy out here would have to go through me. John and you too, no doubt."

John and Thomas nodded with a hearty laugh. "They'd have to fight that friend of hers too, she never leaves her side."

The men continued to bicker and chortle on their walk to the house.

"Hello Mr. Shelby!" Sonia chimed. Sonia was always welcomed, Y/N's best friend. She never had to ask, simply walk through the front door. He greeted her back as she sped up the stairs to Y/N's room, closing the door behind her.

After a few hours, and after the rest of the company went out, Thomas decided he wanted to go to Garrison. As he was the only one home, aside from the two girls, he made his way up the stairs to notify them of his absence.

The courtesy of knocking escaped him as he pushed her door open, the payment for such action taking a gasp from his parted lips. Before him was the sight of his daughter and her best friend, lips upon each other's, quickly separating at the sound of the door.

"Dad-" Y/N's eyes welled with tears, crushing Tommy's heart, and seemingly Sonia's as she looked to her friend with concern.

"Mr. Shelby, I promise-"

"Don't." He looked down and leaned against the door frame. "Why do you feel the need to hide away? Why couldn't you tell me?"

"I'm sorry..." She sobbed quietly.

"Don't be. It's who you are, what is there to be sorry about?"

Sonia perked up, "you're not mad?"

Thomas let out a genuine chuckle. "Why would I be?"

"My parents...they weren't too fond of my attraction to Y/N. We feared that you'd feel the same." He felt empathy for the shaking girl, her gaze averted in shame.

"I take pity that your parents are ignorant. You cannot control who you love. In this case, it's my daughter. My only asks, are that you treat her well..."

The girls looked hopeful, staring at him anticipating his continuation. "And?"

"And that you keep the door open when you're in her room. I trust that you can respect these requests. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to go to the Garrison and have a drink."

i talked about this in the tags of a poll once but sammary intrigues me in the earlier supernatural intentional gothic horror incesthorror + later seasons supernatural wwird action/comedy/adventure thing kind of way. a best of both worlds kind of way. like i think of it as an extension/perpetuation of mary kissing azazel in her father's body while unknowingly selling her son's body and quite literally creating the space for what can be seen as sam's csa metaphor but in the most literal way because this is a sexual relationship between post-resurrection!mary and sam. even moreso if you consider all the sam-mary mirrorings and parallels + the similarly motherly overtones in the simularities between her & jack's and sam & jack's relationship as well as the same overtones in mary as a symbol for sam + mary as a matriarchal figure for jack (the sam-mary 4.22 panic room scene and the 14.17 mary and jack 'tell me it's okay' scene are sisters to me). like their sexual endevors would just be blurring that line further either in terms of what their relationship could become ORRR in terms of their characters (both literally in terms of what they would get up to sexually and what it would metaphorically mean). this ship is like What if you lapsed them as people + their narrative structural (patriarchal & winchester familial dynamic & hunter dichotomies) roles a little further.

anyway, realistically, or in my head at least, they're less romantic and more sexual mostly from mary's side because there's a lot of friction between her and Making Sam This Way + Continuing It but also she thinks sam is fucking hot and she initially has a really hard time thinking of sam as the same son she doomed. she also thinks he's really sweet in that every time he goes out of his way to Understand ber and Forgive her or remember little things about her she kind of melts but again she struggles with it (i also like to think that her fear that sam won't forguve her perpetuates into her thinking sam's forgiveness is too good to be true, which adds to her emotional distance). sam, on the other hand, needs her to romantically acknowledge him so bad it's basically unrequited but he's also getting the weird motherly connection he needs from their sex life so it's enough to keep him hooked. their dynamic is like. they have nasty fucking sex (in a way that's not fun for the audience) and cuddle after then mary slips out of bed in the middle of the night and sam isn't surprised when he wakes up and she isn't there despite only them being in the bunker and not needing to hide it from dean but he buries his face in the sheets where she was laying and curls up real fetus position-like and his eyes water. there's a lot of emotional compartmentalisation on both their parts in a 'well at least we have a relationship we both want/are getting something out of' kind of way and this wraps around to the aspects in which they're similar in. their sex is a way to relate on their respective panic rooms and autonomy losses which are strikingly narratively similar lol but especially relating to azazel and the fissure it creates that's constantly cracking and repairing itself between them. i read a fic once where the only time sam and mary explicitly talk about it is in the impala in a kind of constipated way so my idea of this ship is like a Sure, And fix-it that's mutated into something else.

as for headcanons my favourite is that i think mary is jealous of (nonship) sam and dean and what they have and hates herself for it. when sam and dean stare at each other the whole time after sam's ressurection in 13.21 -> 13.22 and dean leads sam off to get cleaned up and they head off alone, she gets resentful about it (in a canon way i can't rightfully connect here so i'll leave it alone). it goes back to the not letting herself have anything super nonsexual w him thing. also. when mary dies sam doesn't mourn the sex.

honestlyyy this is one of those ships where you just really like both characters separately but specifically for mary and sam, it's actually crazy to me how much they mirror each other, especially when it comes to the reveal of mary's actual personality rather than her idolised version and how much That also mirrors sam's as well as how little anything was canonical done with it. it's like my brain made too much space for the sam and mary section but there was a shortage so i'm making up for it with this whole idea. i don't even want to smash them together like dolls. i'm cutting them open and connecting their intestines.

Rain world and all other fandoms that focus too heavily on shipping instead of the actual lore or story itself always end up really crappy places for genuine artists to be part of. Like I really can't get far in this fandom as a nonship artist because I want to focus on the beauty of the game itself, my only top posts in this fandom are guilty pleasure sketches of catboy pebbles with, and honestly its getting pretty old. All my asks are just requests for rw ships that I don't want to draw, nobody even asks about me or my art they just want content. I spend hours perfecting my rainworld art for people who just throw together something that mentions a ship to get more traction. It's honestly embarrassing and deeply upsetting to get 1 upped by a scribble of a popular ship kissing. I'm not some content cow you can milk for art of a crappy ship okay?

We really need to make a way of saying two characters as a duo because saying 'X/X friendship' just ain't cutting it.

I'm making this post because mcyt has '-duo' and 'trio' and it's very figured out so instead of saying 'grian and scar' you can just say 'desert duo' AND PEOPLE UNDERSTAND YOU

Modeling this after mcyt would give us a good starting point where we have X thing -duo or X thing -trio. obvs group names that don't fit this formula are good.
