By the text, it seemed more like he knew he was going to take whatever deal they made him because he was eager to live. But goddamn, what do the Lights get out of this that's so worth it? Their own petri dish? Maybe they don't view his life as much of a cost. Maybe it's more of a "Aaaand we were just looking for someone to complete the set!" Situation. I don't imagine it's a severe cost to the lights to keep him alive, nor do they really care how much it's worth to him. Whatever my brain is tired.

Oh that isn’t an error, it’s a way to show Josiah’s mental decline, he’s walking and he’s walking and it’s just trees and trees it’s driving him insane he starts walking in circles, he doesn’t know if he’s moved from where he’s at it’s a way to feel his desperation
