“My warrior.” Slinking over to Aiden to place a teasing kiss to his lips, Lust smirks, wrapping arms around his short angel love. “Do you like my blue suit? These clothes are very rich. Fabric is pleasing against my body. Also - it is what I’m donning for my brother’s wedding. I am best man!”  No, no! He prefers the other. “Make that man of honor. Would you like to come with me? As my date?”

‘And? How are the preparations coming along?’, Nines asked, leaning at the entrance of the breakroom as his brother rummaged through the cupboards trying to find the hidden decaf package. ‘Urgh, don’t ask me. I didn’t know it was so much work to plan a wedding.’ Nines smiled and casually opened one of the doors to show Connor what he was searching for. ‘At least we finally have a date set. You are coming, right?’ ‘Of course’, Nines answered. ‘Why shouldn’t I?’ ‘Oh, just… Would you mind leaving Gavin at home? It’s our wedding and you know how he can be… Please?’ Nines clenched his jaw. ‘Well, that you should rather ask the man himself. It’s ridiculous you can’t get over your damn argument. What was it again? A coffee?’ ‘It was a gun to my head, for god’s sake! And despite that it is his shitty attitude. I just don’t want him there when it’s such a special day. If you want we can have a… family dinner later, but…’ ‘I will talk with him about it. But let me tell you one thing, Connor, this won’t better your relationship.’

Nines walked back to his desk to continue with his work. He decided to talk with Gavin in private at home, so there was no chance of them starting a fight. ‘Hey, Gavin, Connor is planning his wedding’, He began, as he was finished doing the dishes and Gavin sat at the table thumbing at a tablet. ‘Okay?’, Gavin said, looking up and waiting for him to continue. ‘I am invited.’ ‘Obviously, you are brothers.’ ‘He asked me to… he doesn’t want you there.’

Gavin sighed, putting the tablet down. ‘Thank phck.’ ‘What?’ ‘Excuse me, darling, but I’m not that keen on going to the pricks wedding. I would have gone with you, if you wanted it, but it’s just… awkward.’ ‘And here I was ready to start a fight with Connor over this’, Nines sighed and sat next to him at the table. ‘Aw, hey. That would be sweet of you, but really. Go and have a fancy wedding party. I’m fine staying at home for some movie night with Tina. I will think of something. Just… You know it’s not my thing to play pretend.’ ‘Okay. I’m still angry with him that he excludes you on this, but if it’s mutual there is nothing I can do.’ Gavin leaned forwards, taking his hand. ‘Hey. I’m sorry this whole family thing isn’t as perfect as you’d like it to be. I… Okay, listen close cause this is commitment: I will try to better my relationship with your brother, deal? I will… I don’t know. I guess apologize? But that won’t happen tomorrow, so you have fun at your brother’s wedding. Embarrass him a bit for me, then I’m fine.’ ‘Okay.’

At that time Gavin didn’t know yet this whole wedding thing would blow up this large. Nines was often gone, helping Connor shopping or deciding on what colours to pick. Gavin frankly was bored by now, cleaning, cuddling with his cat or watching TV. But there was only so much to do until he ended up sprawled out on the sofa, waiting for Nines to return. It may have been one of the few occasions, he actually was glad he got a phone call. ‘Reed?’ ‘Oh, Chloe! How are you? Hell, that’s ages now we talked…’ ‘Yeah, sorry, you know I’m bad with staying in contact.’ ‘A wedding? You too? Hmm? Nah, nevermind, just a… colleague. Maybe it’s just the season for it.’ ‘Will I come? Hey, of course! Free food!’ He laughed as the woman on the other side began scolding him. ‘Hey, hey, calm down. Sure, I will come. Just send me the address, I will be there.’

Connor was more than just anxious. This would seal it and he wanted everything to be perfect. Chloe was getting dressed as she wanted to follow the ridiculous human tradition of surprising him with her dress. As if Connor wouldn’t be smitten no matter what she wore. He tried to calm his nerves by talking with the guests and welcoming them. A few groups had formed, his co-workers from the precinct talking to each other. Then there were the people Chloe had invited, mostly contacts from Cyberlife she made friends with. Elijah stood with them too. And at last there were the people from former Jericho. He spotted his brother standing with the police fraction. As soon as Nines saw him too, he excused himself and came towards him. With a honest smile the other RK hugged him. ‘I’m so happy for you Connor. Are you nervous?’ ‘You have no idea, brother.’ ‘It will be perfect. There is no need to be nervous.’ ‘I know, but I still am.’ ‘And there are still people who think of us as logical machines’, Nines joked. ‘Heh, yeah…’ Connor let his eyes wander and suddenly froze.

‘Nines! You told me you talked to him!’ ‘What are you talking about?’, the android asked clueless at the suddenly accusing words. ‘Gavin! Why the hell is he here?’ Nines followed his eyes and yes, there was Gavin. He just came out of the small building Chloe had went into to get dressed. He had been laughing with some of Chloe’s friends until he froze similarly to Connor. ‘Shit…’

‘I didn’t bring him, Connor, I swear’, Nines tried to keep the android from whatever he was planning. ‘Gavin said he had no interest in attending your wedding!’ But the older unit was already hurrying over and Nines decided to follow short. ‘Reed! What are you doing here?’, Connor shouted. ‘Connor? No way she marries a prick like you!’, Gavin began simultaneously. Nines could just watch. ‘What do you mean, she?’, Connor then asked, caught off guard. ‘Chloe! She invited me to her wedding, I didn’t know it was the same phcking wedding Nines told me you wanted me not to be at!’ ‘Wait’, Nines interrupted, hoping to deescalate the situation. ‘Where do you know Chloe from?’ ‘Because of Eli, idiot’, Gavin chuckled. ‘She was his assistant and companion for so long, why shouldn’t I know her?’ ‘Eli as in… Elijah Kamski?’, Connor asked. ‘For scanners on legs you sure don’t know much, huh? He’s my brother? Well, half-brother technically, but-‘ ‘You can’t be serious!’, Nines whispered in surprise. ‘Hey we can’t all get the genius genes, okay? Ask him, if you want. But I think it is more important for you to get ready’, Gavin told Connor. ‘Your future wife is nearly finished and if you don’t make this day perfect for her, I will kick your ass at your own wedding, tin-can.’

That made Connor recoil and look at his watch. ‘Shit…’ He looked towards the other guests, then back to Gavin, who sighed. ‘Listen, Connor. I am still here to start a fight with later. But I think we can push our differences aside for a day, can’t we?’ Reluctantly the android nodded. ‘For a day…’

Half an hour later, Nines stood in front of a small podium, watching Chloe come up to him lead by Elijah. She was beautiful. And the baby-blue dress just added even more to it. It was the happiest Connor had been by far in his life. Still, as they stood next to each other and listened to the wedding speech, he couldn’t help but send a short question over their interface. >Did you invite Gavin? Chloe looked at him in surprise, but then she smiled. >Ah, I forgot you two work together. Yes, he is Eli’s brother. A real sweetheart once you know him. Connor couldn’t help but lift his brows in despair. Sweetheart? Gavin? He shook his head. Well, this was his wedding. He really shouldn’t think of his brother’s unfortunate choice in partners. He just had to come to terms he would have to get to know the man after all. But if that was the prize for marrying Chloe, then it was an easy decision for Connor.

Ok so current state of things now.

Eli, Loke and Jelani's paternal grandmother, is a widow and prefers to stay single. She would just rather not date or what have you.

Subira and Jelani, Loke and Jelani's maternal grandparents, have probably been married for about as long as the sun has been setting and rising and still act like teenagers in love.

Sanaa and Ingvarr, Loke and Jelani's parents, have been married for a fuck ton of years and are blissfully happy and somehow still have a fairytale type of marriage. To this day he still worships the ground she walks on.

Grete and Jørgen (Ingvarr's younger brother), Loke and Jelani's aunt and uncle, have been married even longer than Ingvarr and Sanaa have been. They're super comfortable together and are very happy.

Nkosazana and Jaali (Sanaa's older brother), Loke and Jelani's aunt and uncle, married in December 31, 1999 because honestly they thought it would be fun.

Fae (Sanaa's younger sister) and Shawn, Loke and Jelani's aunt and uncle, married a year after their first daughter was born. Marriage was always the goal but Leah just made it come a lot faster than intended but otherwise they're super happy. And even happier later when they had the triplets.

Aleksey, Angelus' grandfather, is single as he doesn't care for marriage or even relationships. There was ONE exception but she declined. They had a kid together and the rest is history.

Mahmud has two partners, one of which is AJ! He's very devoted to both and are all three altogether happy.

Radek and Shaine have been married for over 30 years. Not the oldest marriage but not the most recent either.

Tre is kind of a wildcard. One minute he's dating a girl and the next he's moved on to another one. Not exactly the most stable. He just doesn't know what he wants at the moment.

Latoya is currently dating a woman (Jade) and she just wants things to go by smoothly and easy. No rushing anything. She hasn't had more than 3 relationships in her life so she's kinda shy about it.

Manami is currently single. She ain't looking but she isn't exactly opposed to it.

Mason is single. However, Mason is crushing hard on Jelani but that ain't gonna ever happen or go anywhere. The man's married and even if Jelani and Angelus do have threesomes sometimes Jela knows about Mason so she wants to put as much distance in that sense between 'em.

Ginger and Abigail are married. April 28th because Abby wanted a spring wedding and who was Ginger to deny her? So they had a goth spring wedding. I don't actually like setting dates for any event in the current era but for the sake of argument let's just say it was in 2016. Before Abby Ginger used to be with Jelani but they split amicably because she actually prefers women a bit more than men. Still good friends and she is his husband's best friend.

Loke is currently single. If he finds someone that's fantastic, if he doesn't that's fantastic too. They're happy either way.

Trevor is aromantic so he doesn't need or want relationships. Bit of a slut that one not gonna lie. Jela had actually fallen in love with him (obviously before he was with Angelus) and that kinda put a strain on their friendship but they worked it out and now they're back to being really good friends. Trevor also fucked Loke a couple of times and then everyone else found out. Despite all this Trevor will actually get together with a woman (he's pansexual btw) who is also aromantic but both end up having a child. They both have a constant hand in raising their kid and the kid ends up with a bunch of really weird aunts and uncles. Don't have a date for when this will happen yet though. I wrote the mom's name down somewhere but I freaking lost the note, probably buried in all the notes I got everywhere. Trevor names his son after his little brother who died centuries ago. Connor.

Jelani and Angelus are happily married since December 23, 2017. Ya know how they say marry your best friend? They did and it's been a dream since especially for Angelus 'cause he's been in love with him since he was a kid. They sometimes bring in a third person to fuck around with for the night. Only exceptions are Trevor and Loke because Trevor and Loke are kinda like big brothers to Angelus, Trevor also sees Angelus like a little brother and Loke and Jelani are siblings so absolutely the fuck not. Ew.

The sun shines on Elijah, but in such an unflattering way. When it came to anybody else that the sun seemed to catch, it was always a compliment from nature in the genius’s perspective. Hey, look at this human being, but also look at this beautiful person in the most gorgeous moment you could imagine! Yet, when the sun fell on the engineer, he would argue the flaming ball had different intentions for him. It never caught him in the perfect light, it was never a scenario, where--oops! The sun is in my eyes, but look how sexy I am despite that! -- Elijah blinks his eyes shut, offering a bitter frown in response to the source of natural light before he forces his attention elsewhere. 

Gray-blue eyes fall to the floor beneath him as he ponders to himself, though they’re quickly pulled away from where he’s looking once he hears the nearby shuffling of one of the giant house’s residents behind him. Pursed lips as his head tilts back, catching view of the person who has walked in and recognizing them instantly. 

“Ah, good afternoon Spec!” Elijah greets warmly, before using his index finger to push his glasses back up the bridge of his nose to their rightful position. His lips cast just as warm of a smile to the firewall-turned-android, his brilliant mind already beginning to forget what he’d previously been so upset about. “What can I do for you, my friend?” His question is followed up by a gentle gesture to the empty chair that was next to the engineer’s and he welcomes them to fully enter the room and relax with him.

Their curious question is certainly something that Kamski is surprised by, many android models were capable of discussing philosophy and the programmer would be lying if he tried to say he and his Chloes never took the time to discuss many of life’s difficult and un-answerable questions. His amazement is purely due to the fact that Spectr was not a product of Elijah’s -- at least not directly -- and the truth is he just isn’t fully aware of what this android is capable of. Cyberlife has turned into its own entity separate from Elijah Kamski and he is no longer privy to many of the projects the corporation has manufactured during their time apart. 

“I see you’ve discovered a few of my personal effects.” Eli responds, addressing their specification of Frankenstein’s Monster in a playful manner while he begins to gather his thoughts in order to best answer their question. It was no secret that the human was a fan of Mary Shelley’s classic story, though perhaps it was a secret that the engineer often found himself relating to Victor Frankenstein’s role from that tale. 

Very much unlike Frankenstein, it would be difficult to deny that Elijah is attached to and proud of the form of life he has created, but the two men definitely share a similar heaviness on their shoulders, a guilt felt towards the effort of what each man was responsible for creating, or more specifically for Eli, founding.

Idly brushing his thumb against his chin hairs, Elijah considers his words one last time before finally speaking, answering Spec’s question. “That depends on one’s interpretation of the book and one’s understanding of what the definition of monster is, I assert. Victor Frankenstein is an extremely smart man whose obsession results in the birth of the supposed monster. Frankenstein’s monster is essentially shaped and molded by his treatment of those that occupy his life and the environment that surrounds him.” 

“There is a duality between the creature and the Frankenstein family’s nanny and one of Victor’s adopted sisters, Justine, who is also someone that is rejected by those who she was born with. Her mother has little care for her, but the Frankenstein family--and Victor in particular--more than make up for her abandonment by providing her with love that she desperately requires. The creature, of course, receives none of this from neither Victor nor those he attempts to befriend and throughout the book grows resentful and violent; finding himself eventually capable of framing Justine for the murder of Victor’s younger brother, whom the creature himself had killed.”

“Frankenstein’s creature is an interesting example of a monster in design, but perhaps he might be one of the most human characters throughout the execution of his story. He begins his life with an intense desire to be loved and accepted, particularly after being instantly rejected by Frankenstein and soon after being chased away by the family of a blind man he befriended, regardless of the fact that he discreetly assisted them by collecting firewood. Like all things that are alive, the creature desires a partner to love and be loved by and eventually demands of Victor to create him a bride of his own, because of his unshakable belief that he deserves happiness like everyone else. When Victor destroys her out of his many rapid fears of the project, the fury and desire for revenge brings the creature to murder Victor’s wife on the night of their wedding.”

“Frankenstein himself, while he begins the story human, finishes it resembling a monster perhaps more than the creature itself. Growing up in a very functioning, loving family of three sons and two adopted daughters, the brilliant Victor even regards his best friend as more capable than himself. What makes Frankenstein relatable begins with how he deals with the death of his mother which is to bury himself in his work and force himself to continue his studies while he is still grieving. This coping mechanism is extremely weak and later on in the book it proves itself to be detrimental to the man’s mental health as the creature continues to terrorize him and rob him his loved ones’ lives. The further that the creature pushes for respect from man or happiness, the sicker Victor appears to become. The levels that the two are willing to send one another to are endless.  For example the creature’s cunning capability of incriminating other people for the crimes that he himself has committed not once, but twice! As well as the way that Frankenstein becomes so caught up with this creature that he neglects his brand new wife on the night of their wedding because of the pure fear of the creature that has been instilled into the scientist. It’s only when he discovers her lifeless body that he finally finds it within himself to do something about this mess.”

“Up until this point, the man has failed absolutely every person he holds dear due to his fear of his creation, his shame of the creature’s unnatural state and the unhealthy obsession he bears with death and reanimation, his inability to act on their behalves in the wakes of their deaths and how he has been incapable of facing the reality of what he’s made and admit to those that supposedly matter in his life the secret he had been hiding. Now he chooses to put an end to the source of pain that has haunted both him and his creature for so long but only now that is too late, now that neither could possibly prosper in any form.”

“Throughout the text, both the supposed man and supposed monster seem to dance between both roles, both characters have it in them to be wonderful people and both prove themselves capable of committing acts that are so vile, shocking and sickening. They compliment one another quite well in this nightmare, despite the glaring differences that are established between the two; the line between each becomes so blurry by the end of it that it’s truly up to personal interpretation for one to distinguish which one is Frankenstein and which one is Frankenstein’s monster. Both are capable of being quite monstrous, but both of them have very human behaviors and hearts: the fear of facing responsibility and not holding oneself accountable in response, or crafting a comfortable coping mechanism from grief and being incapable of fixing a situation for your loved ones because of it, or having the desire to be desired, to need a friend, only to grow angrier and full of resentment the more you are rejected, or to find yourself so obsessed with the concept of revenge or getting back at someone that when you finally achieve it, you’re incapable of knowing what peace is.”

The engineer draws his eyes to the android, slightly turning his body in his seat to better face them. Fingernails combing through his own hair, which has been lazily pulled back into a sloppy ponytail after having spent the day doing laps in the pool. 

“...To actually answer your question, Spectr, I do not consider you monsters in the same vein as Frankenstein’s monster. I’ve spent a very large portion of my life with many individuals who have proven to me that they could be capable of allowing themselves to turn into such horrific things if they wanted to, but they instead resist and find healthier, smarter, and safer ways to earn respect, maintain their dignity, to teach us while being viewed as an equal and loved like a living person and I very much maintain the belief that people like Markus and Connor and -- even you -- will continue to show us that you guys are the furthest you possibly could be from being defined as the monster from that story.”

“You could borrow the book if you’d like. In my experience, these things are better to be interpreted in one’s own way -- you don’t need to be told how to view those characters or yourself.”

So lately I've been very much into Reed900 and I definitely need more, esspecially ones were no one knows Gavin is Elijah's brother (since Eli deleted all relations). So here are some ideas:

- Nines was shot and tho Gavin still pretends to hate him, he frantically calls Eli to fix him. ( there are some but not nearly enough fics)

-Their Dad is in town and is making trouble. Maybe Gavin sees it on the news and everyone is irritated why he suddenly bolts out of the precinct.

- Eli is hosting a Ball or gala. Gavin and Nines have to go as security, since they don't have a case at the moment. Eli doesn't know he is there up to the moment someone tries to attack him (Their dad) and Gavin protects him like he always did

-Eli visits the precinct to check on his favourite androids ... and to embarrass his brother

- Chloe comes in to give Connor and Hank their wedding inventation ..everyone is surprised, that Gavin (and Nines) gets one too... and even more, when he is so touched he almost cries

-an old friend of Gavins visits, one that so does not fit to the people he normally talks to. Someone very shy and sweet,to whom he talks in such a way no one has ever seen him. Nines is obviously jealous.

- an old friend of Gavins visits and sees him working with androids. "You're partnered with an android?",they asked in a sad and heavy voice. Neither of them notices how the precinct falls silent and everyone looks at them, waiting for the outburst. Gavin looks at the ground, eyes watering slightly. "Yes", he whispers. "Oh Gavin, I'm so sorry. Why did they..? Couldn't you..?" They both knew the answer. Gavin had to have the constant reminder of the betrayal of his so called brother as a partner. So they just fall into each other's arms for a while. Nines doesn't know how to adress the subject but tries anyway. (Could be one-sided (Nines) or both sides: the inner conflict of Gavin would be very interesting)

-on that note: everyone ( including Nines, since he got all memories from Connor) expects Gavin to lash out even worse than normally. Everyone prepares mentally to have a bad workplace atmosphere the next couple days if not weeks. Esspecially since he already comes in obviously not having had a good morning and yelling at everyone who is an inconvenience in his path.

But to everyone's surprise, when he is told the news he just stares at Fowler. He stares and everyone is holding their breath waiting for the bomb -for Gavin to explode.But he doesn't explode. NO he just nods, looks at the ground and than at Nines and introduced himself politely, professionally. It's as if he is suddenly drained from every emotion or as if he is far, far away from himself . He stays professional but distant. As if he just accepted his defeat.

NO one likes it. Everyone is uneasy and just want their opinionated but admittedly asshole-ish detective back. But no one dares to ask... until Nines does.

-Eli was attacked. Everyone is against Gavin taking the case but since everyone is too deep in another one, they have to give into him.

- one of the androids has a malfunction they can't repair,but going to cyberlife would take too long. Everyone is surprised, that Gavin knows how to fix it.

- Perkins ( who is also Gavins ex ..which almost no one knows) comes in about a case involving androids. They ask the 4 what to do But he ultimately already knew: Gavin has to call his brother. Gavin obviously is against that but Perkins ( having met Elijah) soothingly convinces him

- Kamsiks father (thus also Gavins which no one knows) comes in, trying to make a deal. Since he steps foot in, Gavin is oddly quite and focused. He eventually goes out to have a smoke and Hank and the androids tag along. But just a little later. Kamski father comes out and assaults Gavin for being a terrible son. For abandoning the family. For tearing them apart. For being such a fuck up

- halsey song 'strange love (or 'young god') seem very fitting to them. Everyone wondering why Nines settles for Gavin (There is a really good one about this but mooooore)

- more of Nines point out how good of a detective Gavin. Thus standing up for Gavin and comforting him !

- more of Gavin being good with animals and kids! Esspeically victims of abuse!

SKELETON FACTS

Dallas went to university of southern maine but, he originally took a couple years off after high school. He was 20 when he went back to college. 

Dallas played hockey and basketball throughout college. When it came to recruiting season Dallas was found with beer on campus and was kicked off both of his teams, and on probation of being thrown out. 

Dallas got back together with Vanessa and dated her for three years but, they realized that they still don’t work as a couple and being together for  their son is not a reason to be together. 

PERSONALITY

CONNECTIONS

luke baker & owen milligan - these three are the dream team.  Owen, mike and luke bonded over their love for hockey. they started playing together when they were in the junior leagues and when Dallas came to Toronto and joined the ice hounds the three of them were inseperable. Before high school Luke was a quiet little church boy but with the influence of dallas and owen he became one of the smoothest guys around. After graduation the three of them all kept in touch, all three of them staying local after graduation they were able to party together until the last few years when they all relocated.

alli bhandari- dallas cared about Vanessa but, the only girl that Dallas was ever in love with was Alli.  he helped her out in some of her hardest times and she truly believed they would be together forever. when the two broke up due to dallas caring more about basketball than their relationship it destroyed her, and as a result they haven’t talked since. His biggest regret is letting her go. 

connor delaurier- other than Owen and Luke Connor is the next closest friend he had in high school. At first Dallas did not like Connor but, it was mainly due to Luke’s disliking towards him. Connor was friends with Alli, and Alli ordered Dallas to be nice to Connor and had no idea how much he would end up caring for Connor. 

shay powers - when shay was a freshman at Degrassi she met Dallas and developed an attraction towards him right away, but the feelings was not mutual due to Dallas being in love with Alli. Shay quickly moved on, and they didn’t speak since their first interaction that was until she was in college. The two of them bonded over a broken heart, nothing has happened between them, Dallas wonders if Shay still likes him but, isn’t sure how he feels.
