One second Tommy was unconscious, and then suddenly he wasn't. A gasp of air, his eyes abruptly opening, and the feeling of being shaken. A voice, muffled and far away before suddenly turning crystal clear as his brain suddenly catches up to the situation.

"You okay?" Tommy croaks out, his vision slowly adapting to the darkness. He can just barely make out Maddie's face even though she's right next to him.

"I'm not hurt, if that's what you're asking." It was, and it wasn't. But at least she wasn't hurt. "I need you to be honest with me, Tommy. Are you in any pain? You took the brunt of the fall and I need to know what we're dealing with." She sounded professional, a true first responder at her core. But he could hear the slight waver in her voice, the tinge of worry and fear.

Yeah, he wasn't going to tell the truth. "I'm fine, Maddie. I promise." She can be mad at him once he gets her out safe and sound. Back to Howie and Jee. And Evan.
