They ended up farming again throughout the whole ordeal, collecting hotdogs and fries as currency to exchange with Ishtar’s-former-consort-now-turned....golden sheep, Dumuzid.

 And it even felt... a little normal since it felt as if it was the current timeline’s New York, just with some more colorful additions- and okay, he nearly got his face bashed by Spartacus for just getting shoved in front of him before getting declared as an oppressor for “standing” in his way.

So, on second thought, he wasn’t going to get used to this.

Fujimaru asks him as she lightly kicks on the pool’s waters, watching it ebb and flow beneath them.

Kadoc sips on a cocktail Moriarty had given him, before pursing his lips shit, “What? The entire thing with Las Vegas? Jeanne d’Arc’s talking-shark? Wait, actually, that’s 42nd of the most weirdest things I’ve seen in my list.”

She rests her head on his shoulder, no doubt now sleepy as they spend the last few days of their vacation in the comfort of the hotel.

“...Something like that.” She says, after a few moments.

The question was...weird. Fun was a concept he was still becoming familiar with. After all, all he’s ever known was to become a mage to survive a world that could kill you at a moment’s notice.

Even with the near-death experiences, and things that could easily break a normal person’s mind (he had only gotten so far by being a mage who had a decent amount of spells with him that maintained his reason and sense of self. Fujimaru had none and yet she was still smiling despite the fuckery happening almost every moment of the day.), he supposes that...

Some Servants didn’t trust him, others were the opposite, many varied in their opinions on him but at least, all of them no longer deemed him hostile. As evidence by how he’s somehow alive and breathing right now. 

Fujimaru stirs, and they meet each others’ gazes. Her own was reflecting the stars above, a ghost of a smile spread across her lips, “Good crazy?”

He avoids her gaze and downs the last of his drink.

Her response was a chuckle. “I’ll take it that you don’t like the times whenever we rode on Drake’s ship or anything that involved motion sickness.”

Kadoc flicked her forehead, and while she yelped, there was no helping himself in pinching her cheek, “No shit Sherlock.”

“I am right behind you, Mr. Zemlupus.” 

The heart attack he got simultaneously made him scream before pushing him and Fujimaru to the pool to drown.

When they surfaced, they both glared at the laughing detective relaxing on the pool chaise. 

And seeing Ritsuka smirk deviously with a plan to prank the Holmes?

The heavy footfalls of Tomoe Gozen are not unusual within Chaldea. They're not very common at this time of day, since Tomoe is usually inside of the Rec Room at this hour, but they are still not unusual.

She is making her way to the summoning chambers, fully clad in her armor. It still fits well enough around her obese frame, and it feels more proper than her summer attire for what she assumes is an incredibly serious event. Many people have been talking about her this weekend, and she is VERY concerned that something bad will happen to her.

Thud. Thud. Thud....

"...Gh."

She has arrived. The summoning chambers are unassuming, but nonetheless intimidating. Especially since Master is busy preparing something for Mash, therefore leaving the one in charge...

"Hiiiii, Archer!~ Are you excited for some summoning?~"

BB is the one most experienced with Chaldea's summoning system after the Master themself, and thus has been granted this singular responsibility (only when the Master is gone, and only under the supervision of DX and Xiang Yu). She actually also volunteered this idea, so she was given the chance to oversee it herself in addition.

"Unfortunately, BB-dono...No. No, I am not. I am rather on edge, thanks to all this secrecy...Is Tomoe in trouble?"

Tomoe fidgets from side to side as she stares at the summoning circle, the inert Round Table, the Crossroads of Heroes...It's beautiful, in a way.

Terrifying, in another.

"Wh- No, you're not in trouble, who told you that?! I just want you to be here for our next Servant summoning! It's a special one! Jeez, people are fucking terrible at communication here...."

"A-Ah...! I can certainly do that! Yes, let us summon away!"

Tomoe's smile is gentle, as her nerves are assuaged. Surely it must not be so bad, if it is something as simple as that!

As BB fires up the Summoning Circle, she thinks on who could've warranted her being there. Maybe someone dangerous? One of those detestable Genji? No, if it were, they wouldn't have called someone so quick to rage to guard.

The lights swirl, and Tomoe shifts her weight from one hip to another in thought.

The lights flash a brilliant rainbow, and Tomoe shields her eyes with a gauntleted hand as the overwhelming birghtness subsumes the room.

SHWWWIING!

The telltale sound of a Servant's appearance blasts into the oni woman's ears, and she slowly lowers her hand to take a look at the new Servant.

"...Servant. Saber."

"....!"

Armored sandals, like those of a warlord. Of a man who fights alongside his men, for the sake of his ambitions.

"I have come in response to your summons."

A blade that is all-too-familiar to the woman, with a hilt that resembles the very sun. Wielded by him in many battles, where the blade blazed with the force of a million men.

"As your Servant, I pledge myself to your cause, so long as it is righteous."

Pure-white armor, with a large winged shoulder-piece. An insignia over the middle, exactly like her own. (They had them fashioned together.) A padded blue tunic with sun logos emblazoned along it, signifying his title. She suggested that to him. What a silly idea, but he, like always, took her seriously.

"I am the Warlord of the Rising Sun, and the Bearer of Infinite Faith."

"...!"

Tchk.

His mask and helmet are removed in a single motion, as those gloved hands reach for them simultaneously. Pulled away in moments, leaving Tomoe to gaze in awe at a sight she has not seen for centuries.

"My True Name is Kiso-no-Yoshinaka. As a member of the Minamoto Clan, I swear my allegiance to my new Master....and, of course."

"I am overjoyed to see you once more...My dearest Tomoe."

"A-A-Ahh...Y-Y-Y-Y...Y-Y-Yos...Yoshin....Yoshinaka-s-s-sama....?! I...I...Ohhhh....!"

WHUD, SLAM.

"T-Tomoe?! Are you alright?!"

Tomoe's body, currently face-first on the ground, is practically steaming with how overheated she's become, leaving a very amused BB and a very concerned Yoshinaka alone with her as the curtain falls.

An eventful first moment in Chaldea...but surely not the last of them.

Sure. I was more angry that the writers are conflict-avoidant when it comes to Kriemhild and passed over not one, but two large, potential character arcs that Siegfried could play a minor part in rather than the only, major part. Only one I easily understood because Byrnhildr is from Sigurd's legend, so she's not the Queen of Iceland and it would be silly to linger on Kriemhild's conflict with her.

Mind you, I'd still like to see an interlude on it, much as I'd like to go over Gudrun and Sigurd, but let's not kid ourselves here. The FGO writers nowadays don't seem like they ever want to bring it up given Sigurd's line on it.

Remember when I said I wanted a Enkidu-like interlude for Kriemhild? In that interlude, Enkidu spared nothing for Ishtar and went straight into catty dialogue with her. There was no delicately dancing around their hostile relationship nor any retcons regarding what was already said before in FGO regarding Ishtar and Enkidu.

Kriemhild, on the other hand, gets two lame excuses that cut off parts of the Nibelungelied she could possibly grow from: Brynhild's conflict with her and the long time she spent with Attila and the Huns.

I wasn't talking about the event entirely as it was a breath of fresh air from the last two events where she spent time with Siegfried. That's expected. No. I was talking about the small part between her and Altera where she said that she couldn't remember her time with Altera and the Huns - which contradicts Byrnhildr saying she smells Siegfried's scent on Altera. Which hints at Altera having spent time with Kriemhild. That little aside soured the rest of the event as it not only confirmed the writers don't want to dedicate time to fleshing out Kriemhild beyond her Fate-only conflict with Siegfried (thanks Higa), but that they're content in using any out to avoid going over Altera's time as Etzel/Attila. Want to know what I wanted when saving a pity for Kriemhild? Character expansions for both Siegfried and Altera on top of Kriemhild herself. Guess I wished on a monkey's paw. I'm now sure her kids with Altera are also retconned out of existence. Not too sure about Gunther II, though.

Oh yeah, want to know the best part? In the same cop-out dialogue, the writer of this event said there's another version of Kriemhild that remembers her time with Altera instead of casting away the memories as not important (even though Kriemhild's tactics in Traum say otherwise). I remember another servant version promised by the writers that never came out: rider Caesar. Yeah, it's been years and he still hasn't shown up. Sorry Cleo. Odds are, that version of Kriemhild won't show up either. And it's been nearly a year since the last batch of interludes too.

So yeah, that's what I meant about her being Siegfried's shipping attachment. It seems the writers only want to focus on their romance part of the Nibelungelied and not go over Kriemhild's personal development as a character herself. One issue I do have when it comes to couples in this game, regardless of who's being shipped.

But I suppose this comes with the territory of loving the character from the source material first before getting their Fate version. You start getting disappointed when the writing doesn't meet what you expect.

Anyways, I hope this explains it. And thanks for not immediately assuming I hate Kriemhild herself just because I have issues with how she's written.

OOOOOOOOOOHHHH, yeah that makes more sense now. As much as I would also love to see more focus on both Kriemhild and Siegfried (especially on the former), as well as possibly for Altera, the sad fact is that it will possibly never happen.

Kriemhild forgetting why she politically married Altera is like as if Artoria forgot why she abandoned her humanity to be a good king, or Gilgamesh seeking out the herb of immortality, or why Yu Mei-ren/Akuta Hinako initially wanting to summon her beloved Xiang Yu. It makes no sense on any level for her to forget it. Perhaps this'll be ignored and actual focus on them if Kriemhild gets an interlude, but I sadly don't have high hopes (or even a medium level of hope).

And for Altera, none of the writers seem to be interested in fleshing her out in FGO. All of them seem content enough that everything interesting about her is just locked behind another game. Like, her second interlude is the only one that's actually about anything while her first and third interludes are more vague memories before and after she became the leader of the Huns. There's a small (and I mean small) possibility that there probably could be an Extella collab at some point in the future, with a guest writer who is really damn passionate about the character(s) similar to what happened with Samurai Remnant, but again I wouldn't hope for it.

TLDR the only way to deal with the giant, tangled, unfocused mess that is the situation between Siegfried, Kriemhild, Altera and potentially anyone else is to Cope™️.

Or write fix-it fics, either way.

What would you think if FGO had a friend zone option for the servants? Like different dialogue depending on certain factors that determines if the servant sees you as a friend or goes all in on the waifu/husbando stuff.

honestly i have no idea how to answer, cause there's way too many possible routes and FGO is so unfocused in regard to this stuff that I don't know what the intended direction should/would be.

Like on the one hand Gawain will specifically be more flirtatious with Gudako but (afaik) none of the other 'womanizer' servants are like that, and meanwhile you'd think if that warranted something then there'd DEFINITELY need to be something about Gudako being unaffected by Diarmuid's love spot but nope.

Then there's the mess of historically married figures. There's like at least 3 categories those fall into. Tomoe's husband is constantly mentioned but never actually appears, you have the ones where both parties are present and clearly in love like Sigurd-Bryn or Xiang-Yu-Mei-Ren, but then you also have shit like what they pulled with Cleopatra where despite both being present they blatantly expect you to waifu cleopatra, the list goes on.

You can't establish a system or rule on how to handle this if you never treat anything with consistency. Either make it so every is bi/pan/poly and romance is just expected, or do the persona 4 thing of focusing entirely on characterization until the very end where you can choose to take it in a more romantic direction for specific characters who clearly telegraph that possibility.

Here's what you need to know about Legend of Ruyi in order to read Pines and Cedars:

The empress in HZGG is called Ruyi in Legend of Ruyi. In this drama, Ruyi's strongest ally is Hailan = Yu Fei = Yongqi's mother. When Yongqi was born, Hailan's rank was too low to be allowed to raise a prince, so Ruyi raised Yongqi. Basically their relationship is the opposite of the relationship in HZGG. Here's a parallel comparison.

In Legend of Ruyi, Ruyi has a servant named Rong Pei who can be summed up as strict but kind. The name is just a total coincidence /s. Everyone in Legend of Ruyi calls her Rong Gugu, because Rong Momo is too on the nose probably.

The antagonist in Legend of Ruyi is Wei Yanwan = Ling Fei. Wei Yanwan is a nasty piece of work, but the one detail of her evil deeds you need to know is just that she planted a concubine in Yongqi's household who eventually sowed discord between Ruyi and Yongqi, indirectly led to Yongqi's death, which partially caused the final breakdown in the relationship between Ruyi and Qianlong. The concubine did Wei Yanwan's bidding because she believed Ruyi was responsible for her mother's death. (i.e. this entire subplot is to troll HZGG fans)

Han Xiang is called Han Xiangjian. Like Han Xiang, Xiangjian was given as a gift to Qianlong, and she has a lover who unlike Mengdan actually died. When she came into the palace, Xiangjian tried to kill Qianlong then herself, until Ruyi convinced her to live for the sake of her people. The Empress Dowager also forced Ruyi to give Han Xiangjian medicine to make her infertile so despite their friendship, Xiangjian's arrival starts to escalate the unravelling of Ruyi's relationship with Qianlong.

Qianlong in Legend of Ruyi is an asshole. But strangely, a lot of like the Qianlong in HZGG. Philandering, quick to anger, egotistical...Legend of Ruyi's Qianlong also a healthy dose of paranoia attached. He also would totally sleep with a woman and conveniently forget about her. Pretty sure he wouldn't have the decency to acknowledge his child 18 years later though, so HZGG's Qianlong wins on that.

I think when you start reading, just keep in mind that Ruyi is a good person, who raised Yongqi only to watch him die in an act of revenge from Ling Fei against her, and Ruyi has also suffered a lot of neglect and emotional cruelty from Qianlong. She was also dying, so she entirely expected to die, not wake up reincarnated/isekaied into a different version of her life. The fic will explain the Legend of Ruyi plot points relevant to the story when they come up.
