I absolutely agree with the value of Beauty and the Beast and ranking it as the objectively best Disney movie, but I would like to challenge you on it nonetheless. Specifically on the argument I've seen levied against it the most, or at least most ferociously: It's 'problematic!'
Whether people reduce it to Stockholm syndrome, Lima syndrome, both or even neither, I know many people who don't like B&tB because the circumstances that brought Belle and the Beast together are quite loaded. Everyone in the castle, Beast included, is aware that this girl is likely their one shot at breaking this curse, so there's always a kind of external pressure on their relationship, even if it isn't always seen.
What's your take on that argument and/or similar ones that dismiss or dislike the love story because both parties were literally trapped in one form or another?
No, it's not problematic. The basis of that argument is that love is somehow negated by circumstance. But love is not at all about circumstance. Love is about choice, because it's a action—regardless of circumstance. If your circumstance keeps you from choosing, or forces your choice, it's not choice at all., and so it's not love.
Belle doesn't choose to love the Beast until after she gets to know him and he sets her free from her circumstance of staying with him. He doesn't set her free from her circumstance until he's decided he loves her in spite of his own—if he were letting his circumstance (the curse) dictate his love for her, he wouldn't have let her go.
It's a silly argument.
She was his—WILLING—prisoner. Willing. Which is no prisoner at all. She was not held there by his force or his decree; she held herself there by her promise, because she was taking the place of her father, who trespassed and offended a Master on his own land. She chose to be there; she didn't choose to love him based on any kind of proximity to him.

Do you per chance have a list of seb//aciel shippers? I ask cuz no matter what I do or how many I block these damn pedos keep popping up and I am so tired. I think a list would make it easier so I don't keep getting jumpscared by "this post contains filtered tags"
(I am fully convinced every single seb//aciel shipper is just a pedophile trying to normalize it though their fucked up nasty ship tbqh)
Not really 😭 I instantly block all the shippers I come across so I don't bother remembering their users

"So what's you're problem? Why are you treating Dennis like a plaything?"
…”Why not?” Who says this is simply entertainment. “The little color that drained from his face was quite enjoyable.” What a dastardly crooked smile on her face. “Besides. Not like he was ever in any real danger.”

Do you think that briggsy and other torbek get along or is it just rivalry?? Or something
I mean for me at least this might change (or probably) change in the future considering how much and what we learn about the other in the future, but right now I don't really have any headcanons about how they would realistically interact
As I see them now, The Other doesn't really care about what Torbek thinks of Briggsy, and just enjoys it when he can annoy Briggsy.
But eh, I don't put much thought into The Other right now, since we don't know much about him yet

when did steven universe say anything about god?
Out loud? Never. But every story that is an actual story is offering you a worldview. Steven Universe has a pretty explicitly anti-God-of-the-Bible worldview. It's not just because of the pro LGBTQ+ stuff (that's nothing new.) It's mainly because of White Diamond, her specific characterization and powers, and how the antidote to her "bad" worldview is the phrase "if every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs."
Steven Universe doesn't say anything about God literally. But it has a strangely large amount of specific things to say about the God-of-the-Bible symbolically, thematically, metaphorically--whatever you want to call "the language of storytelling."
Just like Kung Fu Panda never says one word about self-empowerment, not literally. But it is impossible to ignore that it's about self-empowerment, and says so in everything but words.
I'm getting a lot of questions about the Steven Universe comment, so a more in-depth explanation is probably coming in a different post. Because I watched the show all the way through--because it's incredibly well-done (for the most part) and I understand why others enjoy it. But that's what's scary about it.

Do you regret teaching Naruto your secret jutsu "A Thousand Years of Death"?
Hmm...Should I? The point of that Jutsu is to stress the importance of 'not letting an enemy get behind you'. In the world of Shinobi this could prove fatal. I'd say this lesson was hard learned, but necessary. Though I didn't count on Naruto copying the technique, it just goes to show that no jutsu worth its salt is wasted. Knowledge is power and all that.

Do you know anything on how useful the marugoto textbooks are for studying japanese? I know some people who use it in a uni course but they say the books are difficult to study outside that setting. But they are the books made by the japan foundation so they shouldn't be too bad probably?
Thank you for your ask!
I do not have any personal experience with the Marugoto books, so I asked around.
The feedback is that they are good study materials even outside of a course. They have beginner to intermediate books and they seem to be reasonably priced (particularly with the current dollar-to-yen exchange rate).
For the book version, the romaji is prominent in the beginner books, but in the online version there is an option to turn off the romaji. There are also English explanations in the beginner materials.
The series blends visual and audio with reading, writing, speaking, and listening which allows you to grasp all aspects of Japanese. You can get online support if you want to pay to have someone check your work. The grammar explanations are nicely formatted, and the stories and themes are interesting.
There is also an online course using Marugoto called Minato, which is free and you get access to the online books and materials, but you have to complete it in 6 months and then you lose access.
Both recommendations said that it was good for beginners, so I think it sounds like an excellent source for learning Japanese! Best of luck!
And thank you to those who gave me their feedback! ^.^

“you’re not fine, you’re trembling. let me help you, please.” [From Nick Nelson]
Running outside into the English rain without a coat was probably not a good idea, but he was pissed ok? His mom just became President and yet, he was being shipped out here to get away from the political pundits who were already pissed that a brown kid was representing their country.
"I'm fine... I just.. I'm trying to cool off... that's all..."
