Barring Reimu’s insanely lucky instincts because of her ability and tendency to decisively beat up anything that gets on her bad side, Youmu would probably be the most likely to act instinctively because of her intensive training and proficiency in twin swordplay

I’d make a case for Marisa, but her judgement is sometimes clouded by theft and obsession with stronger magic

♞ : Which do you prefer, shorter or longer roleplay posts?

✎ : What is your favorite genre to write for in roleplay?

I personally like to go for longer posts since they help produce flavor text that builds character lore and explain what said characters are thinking or feeling in that time. Of course, it doesn’t bar out shorter posts if I can’t really think of anything or just have writer’s block at that time.

My favorite genres to write include:

Character backstory - That gives me the chance to lore dump about my character(s) and the setting that they’re portrayed in. You know, just in case some of the other writers missed the muse profile, or if the other muses have never seen this character before for any reason.

Slice of life - It’s lighthearted, easy to write even under a block, and there’s usually not too much pressure from other characters to throw off their rhythm on a normal day in their hometown or on an adventure somewhere during a lull in the action.

Redemption arc - Sometimes, the villain or the (anti)hero is made out to be a fool, disillusioned, or thoroughly thrashed and/or humbled in an encounter that gave them a much-needed wakeup call that they messed up badly. Sometimes, there’s a chance for them to make things right and redeem themselves. That’s how perceived villains are portrayed when they’re revealed to just be antiheroes or misguided heroes from the start, right? You think they’re the bad guys, but later they get talked down and join the heroes. That’s how I wrote two characters (those being Strawberry Crepe Cookie, a canon character given a personalized take on their backstory and a fanfic redemption arc- and Yukari Kamimaru, an OC I vaguely posted about here as part of my personal MG story but haven’t posted their muse profile yet for lore reasons and an unfinished visual reference) in the five years I’ve been roleplaying on Tumblr and Discord (most of which was Discord). It doesn’t mean everyone falls into this trope, but that doesn’t stop people from rewriting the canon to make it happen.
