some botw verse thoughts on dol’s combat style because reasons

in my initial verse post, i briefly mentioned that dol’s father passed on the yiga clan’s stealth and martial arts techniques to his children in hopes that if the clan ever sought revenge for his defection they’d be capable of defending themselves, and training likely started as soon as each kid reached an age they were able to effectively learn, and it went until... well, that first bloodmoon incident at age 15. so combat is not something he picked up late, he’s been doing this as far back as he can remember. and i’ve been thinking about how that affects other aspects of dol’s involvement in... things.

for one, when he starts “working with” the royal guard in the time before zelda returns, it’s likely that his fighting style/knowledge conflicts with that of knights. the swords are built different, handled different--the armor likely doesn’t allow for the nimble movements he grew up practicing--and, despite his best efforts, it never fully clicked with him. so on top of his lack of connections or lineage to the guard causing them to sneer at him, he’s now beefing a lot of their training, not meeting their standards, etc etc. when zelda does show up claiming to be the princess, and they don’t believe her, they hand off dol to be her body guard not only to get him out of their hair but also as a lowkey “haha take the worst of us” jab.

but now that he’s left to his own devices, it’s a helluva lot easier to shift back into what he knows. as in his normal verses, he’s strong, extremely fast, and uses his environment to his advantage (jumping off of things, hiding/ambushing, makeshift weapons, etc). early on, he probably steals a yiga member’s sword out of their hand during combat and that becomes his regular weapon going forward, as it’s a build he’s familiar with. broadswords? ew, pass. don’t even hand me a shield wtf. this sickle and windcleaver tho, don’t mind if i do. throwing knives?? YES, please.

and i guess that’s where shit would get interesting from, like... an outsider perspective. anyone who witnesses him fighting the way he’s most proficient might be able to make connections of where the style came from and potentially find it.. a lil SUS that someone using yiga clan arts is acting as the princess’s body guard (if that really is her... this probably just makes proving that it’s her a lot harder doesn’t it... aw, beans).

the yiga undoubtedly pick up on it after a few encounters, saying something like “wait, you fight like us??” and dol being the ass that he is just responds “nah, i fight better :)”.

i’m sure he’s also put two and two together that his dad at minimum mimicked the clan’s method of combat or at max was unwillingly involved with the clan at some point (he has no clue that his grandparents were high-ranking and that the bloodmoon curse was one of their making). if zelda asked him directly, it’s not something he’d hide because--again--he assumes his father was unwillingly involved and has no idea about his grandparents.

i have no idea how to wrap this up as it’s not a formal HC post and i’m just kind of spewing my thoughts into the void.

Thronebreaker homophobia headcanon?

Me: why would I add homophobia to my fantasy when I don’t have to? Also me: wow, there would be SO much angst potential in this!

As it says in the title, this headcanon has a LOT of homophobia, so don’t engage if that’s not something you can deal with rn. Also, to be clear: most of the continent is chill with homosexuality, and Rivia’s neighbors mostly view them as backwards. But like, this is feudalism. Human rights are pretty low on the agenda for any ruler, so they don’t much care.

Anyway uh... Rivia is now very historically homophobic and when King Reginald and Queen Meve married, it became law in Lyria too. Unlike Reginald, Meve isn’t actively homophobic - hell, she even encourages Reynard to bone Gascon - but she also isn’t aware enough of the impact of those laws to repeal them.

And then she gets betrayed and Nilfgaard takes over and they change the laws, because the Empire is fucking awful, but progressive in a few surface ways (you can marry anyone! And now you and your spouse can BOTH get drafted into the army and go die in the swamps of Velen!). 

After she gets Lyria back, Meve is gonna have to deal with that, but that’s a whole other story. For now, what I’m thinking is that Reynard has known since he was young that he had interest in other knights and that that interest was unacceptable. So he always hid part of himself, especially once he entered the King’s service (and really learned to keep his mouth shut). 

Problem is, Reginald himself has a LOT of internalized homophobia going on. And... okay, we don’t get a lot about him in canon beyond him being kinda dumb, but good at seeing cleverness in others and utilizing it. And also responding with overwhelming force when a threat emerges (like the Brossard family). 

So like, Reynard is in his early 20s and is serving as aide and advisor to the King. But King Reginald notices the way he watches other men and definitely projects some shit on Reynard. But he approaches it like he’s a concerned friend. Like, “you know you can never act on such things. Someone will find out and I will be forced to punish you.”

It’s always warnings - “oh, don’t do that, what if someone sees?” and “you fool, if you do that again, I will be forced to punish you” or some such. And Reynard doesn’t really understand what he’s done wrong, because he DOES try to follow the rules, but he always works to adjust his behavior anyway, because he knows his King doesn’t WANT to punish him. But if he’s forced to...

Not sure what drives things to a breaking point - maybe Reginald gets jealous at spotting Reynard “flirting” with some foreign knight or dignitary or something??? - but the lesson Reginald teaches is one Reynard will never forget. Because he doesn’t know what he did wrong, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve punishment, especially when it’s the King carrying it out, because his King is just... right? (wrong)

The official sentence for homosexuality is flogging, castration, and execution, but Reginald says something like that because it’s Reynard, he’s worked hard to lighten the sentence or some such. Like, he makes it clear that Reynard is getting off easy when Reginald simply has him whipped nearly to death. 

Reynard doesn’t die - but it’s a close call, especially when some of the wounds get infected and he doesn’t get them treated the way he should, because he deserved this punishment. His King had said so. So it’s important that he returns to work and serves his King as best as he can, even though he’s a disgusting deviant.

I think he probably collapses at some point and Reginald deigns to send him to the royal medics and they save his life, but he’s out of commission for a good while, because he got whipped extensively and then infection took hold.

But when he finally returns to work, Reginald is just kinda like, “where have you been!? Work has piled up without you, get to it!” and never talks about the punishment he metted out.

But as years go on, it becomes a warning. If Reginald’s skewed vision sees Reynard getting too close to other men, he’ll call Reynard to him and touch the small of his back as a reminder. Like ‘don’t make me do this again’.

So Reynard folds pieces of himself up tight and tucks them away where they can never emerge. And while other knights are going around wooing women and getting married, Reynard is focusing on his work. It gets him a reputation - that’s he’s too stuck up for romance, maybe that he’s deviant because he ISN’T girl crazy, etc. The rumors are too bad, but they also never die, even as decades pass.

And then King Reginald of Rivia and Queen Meve of Lyria are married and their realms are merged - which makes homophobia the law throughout Lyria (and believe you me, a LOT of people are unhappy about this. but they have enough sense not to speak out, because royals are scary and homicidal). 

When Reynard first starts developing feelings for Meve, he’s actually almost relieved. Because if he can feel this way for a woman, then maybe he isn’t broken, isn’t a complete deviant. He’d still never make a move, though, because in addition to being married, Meve is Queen. And his experience with Reginald has taught him that you should always keep your private life (what exists of it) out of view of royalty. 

But I think for a while, he has hope. And then Reginald dies and he HATES that he’s relieved, but he is. And there are people who hope that Meve will repeal Rivia’s homophobic laws, but in honesty, it’s not even on her radar as something to deal with. Meanwhile, there’s 10 billion other things to deal with - and so she never gets around to it. She probably doesn’t enforce it - but that doesn’t mean that garrison commanders under her army don’t.

So Reynard serves Meve for 8 years, always keeping part of himself hidden out of sight. And he has never trusted anyone enough to reveal this part of him, so aside from rumors, the knowledge of his deviance died with Reginald.

Except then Meve is betrayed. And she never doubts Reynard’s loyalty and she’s right not to. But now they’re traveling as fugitives to try to make it to the Aedirnian border with the assistance of the fucking Duke of Dogs and his Strays of Spalla - aka criminals. (Though, technically, Reynard has no room to talk - and maybe he knows that. Maybe that’s part of why he’s kinda chill about serving alongside “deserters and bandits and peasants” whereas Meve feels like they’ve fallen low)

At first, Reynard HATES Gascon. He’s an obnoxious little shit who openly flirts with the queen - and even with HIM! Mostly just to get a rise out of him, he’s sure, but like, the audacity!! 

Except, weirdly, whenever Gascon smiles or laughs, Reynard’s heart goes doki doki and he doesn’t understand why. In the current fic I’m writing, Meve clues him in, but also triggers a downward spiral, because if Meve KNOWS he’s a deviant, then obviously he deserves to be punished again. Plus like... Gascon is a fucking baby. Reynard (and Meve a little bit) would DEFINITELY have mixed feelings about wanting someone less than half of their age. (Meanwhile, Gascon is just like ‘oh sweet, sugar daddy. Can we go kill people now?’)

Anyway, I don’t really know where this would go in different fics. In the one I’m writing right now, Reynard is expecting them to hurt him, because that’s what Reginald would do. Meanwhile Meve and Gascon are very confused and trying to figure out wtf is going on. But there will DEFINITELY be lots of comfort for Reynard.

I also want stuff like... idk, scar worship for the whip marks on his back and Gascon and Meve trying to help him heal, but idk exactly what that will look like.

tl;dr: this is definitely the backstory for at least 1 fic. But I’m torn on if I want to make it my canon backstory for Reynard/Thronebreaker. Because I do like writing escapist fantasy without homophobia, but also, I think this offers a lot of interesting things to explore, especially on the angst side of things.

If it IS canon for my Thronebreaker fics, then I promise that it would only be such for fics where it’s relevant/explored as a concept and not like, included in a PWP or something out of nowhere. I’ll always tag appropriately so you can choose how to engage, but... idk. I’m very torn.

I really like/agree with the changes you’ve made so far to AoC. One thing I’d personally want to change is Impa’s intro cutscene. It seems very odd to me that the first thing we see is her crying out for help bc a small group of Bokoblins were after her, but then the game IMMEDIATELY turns around and shows that she’s a strong warrior, both through gameplay and the king’s dialogue about her being able to take care of herself. (1/2, sorry this is a little long!! I hope you don’t mind!)

Oh you’re absolutely right! I actually completely forgot about Impa’s introduction because of how forgettable it was...lmao. So yeah! Like you said that introduction completely contradicts how she’s characterized for the rest of the game...which is probably why I had nearly erased it from my memory, since it really serves no importance to her. 

I actually have some plans for Impa’s little “Advisor” title, although it’s nothing too major, I might rework something to make her a bit more important as I guess I’ve mainly been too focused on rewriting the Champs and counterparts but I think I can actually play with that title to give her a more memorable introduction for the game. 

So I’m just spitballing here, but only significant part of Impa’s intro that we need to keep intact is that she needs be in possession of the Sheikah Slate, and somehow lead into the activation of eggbot. We don’t want her to clumsily trip and drop it because Impa is supposed to be physically capable, with her flaws being in her slight hot-headedness, or I guess the better word is impulsiveness? She confident to a fault, absolutely loyal to Zelda as both a friend and an advisor who supports her, and she’s got that cute sister foil dynamic with Impa. She’s also got a bit of humoristic air to her. So! Let’s a go and introduce her.

Link is running through the garrisons, sword at the ready, he’s running around looking for monsters. He hears a commotion to his right, and spots a building. Inside, he can already see bokoblins making their way inside. He follows.

The building he walks into is a storage place for Guardians, because of course there is! Like this is a war they’re fighting, and the entire point of the Guardians was that they were part of their arsenal, so I’m surprised that their precesne is better established at these forts and stuff. Anyhow, Link kills a bokoblin and steps inside, following the sound of grunting. Turning the corner he see, Impa, by the backdoor. 

Currently, she’s trying to bash a bokoblin’s head with a Sheikah Slate. As she is standing on a table with the monster grabbing at her leg, a few other surrounding her. “Let! Go! You!” Her words in time with her bonking it on the head. She suddenly spots Link. “Hey you! Can you hold this for a sec?” She tosses the Slate, and Link fumbles a bit as he catches it.

“Don’t break it now! Princess’ orders.” Impa yells. With her hands less full, she does the little hand finger motion thing and summons her clones. She then unsheathes her sword, and along with her clones, she instantly kills off the group of bokoblins in the room. As they crumple to the ground, she bounces off the table and turns towards Link with a smile. 

Thanks for the hand, I’ll take that back now please. As the monsters behind her vanish into malice, and her clones do the hand thing and disappear, that’s when her title comes up. 

Before Link has a chance to react and give it back, the Guardians in the room suddenly buzz and whirr. Impa frowns a bit.

“Ummm, ok? I’m no expert but I don’t think that’s supposed to happen.” Link looks around, the room they’re in is littered in Guardian parts and Sheikah tech. Suddenly, under a table, he spots something white and shiny, much unlike the other stuff in the room. 

Impa is still staring curiously at the awakened Guardian, meanwhile Link crouches down under the table to look at the mysterious object. It’s eggbot. He reaches out to pick it up, Sheikah Slate still in hand. But as he does, the whole room suddenly lights up in blue light.

“What the?!” Impa and Link and both startled, and the ground begins to rumble. 

Impa gives a quick nod towards the back door. “Come on! We need to get out of here.”

Back outside, the ground is still rumbling, but similar to the actual cutscene, a group of bokoblins approach them. Impa steels herself and readies her weapon along with Link. But before they can fight, the Sheikah Tower rises up. 

Then that’s the same as the original scene, where they both look up in shock. Link then turns around, and back by the building they just came out of, he sees a little Terrako walking around. It patters around by the back doors entrance, but when it sees Link, it gives a cute little jump of excitement and runs towards him. Maybe it can knock him to the ground like a puppy or something. Impa can look at him weirdly like “wtf”

And that’s my change! Impa gets a badass moment, we got a few dialogue pieces that show her respect for Zelda and her lack of knowledge about Guardians. And ALSO, I give a more reasonable explanation for eggbots presence. You ever notice how eggbot is just randomly lying in the field deactivated? Even though his time teleport thing clearly took place at the Castle? Yeah well here, eggbot is in storage with other Guardian parts. So it’s a wordless explanation that you can just fill in the blank spots in your head. Like some research found it lying around, and just shoved it with the other Ancient Technology. 

And that’s my take on her introduction! It serves multiple purposes besides just introducing her, as it more fleshes out some plot details and keeps some action and momentum. Plus it’s a bit light hearted and funny, but not as the cost of making her look weak and helpless. Hopefully you think it’s ok D:

Oh Anon, you done permitted me to unleash my Klance storm I’ve been brewing all evening let me tell you…

So here's the thing I back when the SDCC thing dropped. James looks like he has purple eyes. I thought he was going to be revealed as a Galra plant? But no, he just has violet-ish eyes and honestly to me? He looks like a Klance lovechild.

Which got me thinking. What if he was? (Through a combo of Alien science DNA-mixing and a surrogate).

Okay so basically the premise is like in Sailor Moon when Chibiusa shows up but KLANCE:

His parents sent him through a cosmic wormhole or whatever because it isn't safe for him in the future timeline but maybe something goes wrong and he lost part of his memory and was adopted by the Griffins but remembers his Dad (Lance) and Pops (Keith). Just not their names and their faces are fuzzy but he remembers them loving and protecting him and each other.

As a wee child he arbitrarily decided that his Pops is the only person in the world allowed to call him "Jim" or any variation thereof bc his Pops is so chill about it. 

(This made Future!Lance sad bc he named him James Tiberius Kogane-McClain for a REASON and wanted to be able to do “Damn it, Jim! I’m your father not a...” Dad jokes and JAMES SENSED THIS WAS COMING)

When he meets Keith at school he hates him. He doesn't know why. At the Garrison he's super fond of Lance and they both consider themselves Keith's rival and maybe bond a little over that? But also Lance is funny! Reminds him of his Dad’s sense of humor. Huh.

Keith gets so exasperated at one point he goes to Shiro:

"UGH WHY DOES JAMES HATE ME IS IT BECAUSE I'M GAY?"

And Shiro's like, "Well Keith, James was telling that Taylor kid that he has two dads, do you think it–"

"WHAT. WHAT THE, wait, omg he's friends with Taylor wtf I don't want to hate him he's so damn cute, I HATE HIM NOW AND HIS STUPID TWO DADS."

There's other clues like when Lance finds out James's full name is James Tiberius and he's like "ZOMG I always wanted to name my future kid that!! I never told anyone that before!! Why am I shouting? JAMES YOU'RE SO COOL!!"

*Keith overhearing this in the lunch room, snapping his spork in frustration*

"Why Taylor whyyyyyy... I can't tell if you have bad taste or if I do?!"

*Adam slowly slides him a Capri Sun and pats his shoulder*

(Future!Keith didn't fight Future!Lance on the name bc he got a "BABIES AND WOLVES DON'T NAME THEMSELVES, OKAY??" lecture and it makes Lance super happy. However the next kid has to be named Yoralivan they promised Krolia).

James and Keith are arguing and Keith is like "WHATEVER JIMBO!" and James just freezes because that's what his Pops and ONLY his Pops calls him and he cries because hearing Keith say that name in that tone causes his memories to come flooding back.

He runs away to his bunk and tries to rationalize it and realizes he must be in an alternate reality like Uncle Slav said! Because his dads can't really be the goofball who does random silly dances in the hallway and the annoying rebel show-off? RIGHT?

So that's the day Keith gets kicked out of the Garrison. James doesn't talk to Lance anymore, and Lance thinks he did something wrong but won't get an answer out of him but shrugs it off because he's a fighter pilot now!

Cut to the paladins returning to Earth. And Keith is back and so is Lance and wait… They're holding hands. Oh no. OHHHH NOOOOOOOOO. OH GOD NOT THIS REALITY TOO! I CANNOT WATCH MY PARENTS DO THIS WHAT IF I WALK IN ON THEM DOING SOMETHING THAT WILL SCAR ME.

James is now having a crisis because they have to save Earth but also he REALLY is getting weirded out watching his parents make goo-goo eyes at each other.

He also quickly realizes they both plan to propose to one another and starts conveniently interrupting and separating them.

But also? He oddly… supports them!? Like when they snipe at each other he tries to shut that noise down quickly and yells at Keith to go apologize to Lance because "He deserves so much better than YOU, but you make him happy so don't fuck that up, okay?"

(He’s secretly cheering inside because holy FUCK he’s allowed to yell and swear at his Pops and he’s not getting a “Language!” raised eyebrow of disapproval from his Dad or Uncle Shiro).

Actually it makes him pang a little inside because one of his favorite things is when his Dad would hear him swear and he and his Pops would make fun of his reaction:

“Language James! Keith, back me up here.”

“... Watch your fucking mouth, Jim”

“KEITH!”

“LKSDJHS I will father, I will.”

Keith has already realized his Taylor error from back in the day so he remembers James and Tay-Lance being buds and OH NO IS THIS FUCKER AFTER MY MAN. FFFF IM PROPOSING RIGHT NOW.

Keith has Cosmo (Kosmo?) zap them away to the cockpit of the Red Lion bc James can't interrupt them there and he proposes with a ring he forged during his two years on the space whale after smelting down a re-puposed dagger Krolia had from her family. Lance cries and takes his own ring out of his pocket that his mom gave him (was her father's ring) after she spent 3 minutes with Keith and Lance in the same room and realized her son needed to put a ring on that STAT.

James is. Very. Conflicted.

Because he loves his parents. He wants to go back to them.

But they're also right in front of him and he can't let it show. Because he's realized he is in his own timeline (damn it Slav!!) and he doesn't want to butterfly effect himself out of existence.

(Or he'll wake up and his middle name isn't Tiberius it's Kosmo-Yorak-Kolivan-Texas or whatever Keith would decide in revenge for all the crap he's put him through).

They do find out though. It's a little weird.

Shiro just blinks and is like. "I should be more surprised right? But I have a floaty robot-arm and Altean magic powers and I literally could not fathom how i'm supposed to be shocked anymore."

Adam buys Keith a lot of Capri Suns (in this universe James sabotaged his getting to the mission on time like his Pops told him to and Adam is perfectly awesomely ALIVE bc fuck why not I'm already writing a Klance lovechild Sailor Moon AU so Adam lives bitches).

Happy ending! James goes back to the future and Lance is hugging him like "Omg I am so PROUD YOU GREW UP SO GOOD UGH YOU ARE GONNA BE SUCH A HEARTBREAKER NO DATING UNTIL YOU ARE 22 PROMISE ME!!"

James rolls his eyes. "Da~aaad. You were how old when you two started–"

"NO DATING UNTIL YOU ARE TWENTY TWO!"

Keith's all soft, fond smile on his face, "Nice work, Jimbo," and ruffling his hair. "But did you have to be such a royal pain to your Pops like that?"

"Shut up Mullet!" James and Lance say while both crying and hugging.

"Yeah okay… Your name is Yorak now."

Uncle Adam and Uncle Takashi are crying into their Capri Suns. Uncle Slav has been tossed into the brig by Aunt Allura for almost interrupting the reunion.

Shingeki no Kyojin chapter 100 review (+ theories)

Paradis’ conflict against the world just began...

That’s the most impressive event of the chapter, and also a turning point from now on. After two chapters of festival, the cat’s out of the bag. And he just killed Marley’s most important diplomatic figure, alongside a bunch of Eldians from the building above him, thus turning the world against him, and his own nation.

Of course, Willy the martyr of his own blood was ready to die for the ultimate repentance of the Eldians against their own kind, the one wanting to make their nation great again. Such a sacrifice was necessary to convince the world the threat Paradis proposed was real. All parties consented for the highlight of the show to be... potentially explosive.

What happened minutes prior Eren showing up was Reiner breaking down in front of him, finally exposing what he bottled up for nine years. The man Falco believed in went away in front of his very own eyes. Or perhaps he never existed, considering Eren still went and transformed into a titan, disregarding both the boy’s fate and fate the man he despised for years.

Now that he reduced the patriarch of the Tybur family to some mushed piece of meat, what’s going to happen? Is it time for Marley’s counterattack? Find out in chapter 101!

P.S.: By the way, Isayama stayed true to his word: this chapter beat the record of double-pages in this arc at least. We have four double pages illustrating Eren turning into a titan and beginning his attack. That’s less pages than usual, but it’s quite the impressive show.

“Wood”, seriously? CR messed up on kanji, there. How do you mess up “水” (water) and “木” (wood)?

Anyway, there goes for the WTF CR minute. The chapter offered two perspectives: what happens on-stage and what happens in the basement.

Willy’s resolve and the final part

The Eldians are definitely the devils – Ch. 100

The chapter begins with a short private conversation between Magath and Willy. The point of the festival was to show to the face of the world how dangerous Paradis is, as Zeke planned to do so in chapter 95. The conversation implies enemies from the interior have been at Marley for a while. Naturally, it’s also the meeting point for all parties to collide: world diplomats, Marley warriors, even incompetent officers so Magath’s purge would be as quick and efficient as possible, and none of the higher-ups would’ve been the wiser.

And of course, hundreds of deaths are planned during the festival. Amusingly enough, it’s Magath, a Marlean, who is concerned about the death toll. As Willy puts it so bluntly, Magath shouldn’t hesitate to make a sacrifice when he watched too many Eldians under his command die or living a crappy lifestyle. The biggest loss in this operation is Willy’s life: as the key politician of Marley, he can’t sacrifice his life now. Despite that, it’s a risk he’s willing to take. For the sake of credibility and for the sake of instigating fear in the nations of the world so they would side against an island full of weapons of mass destruction.

The path of the martyrdom – Ch. 100

The Tybur family also just didn’t sit down and watch under Willy’s rule it seems, contrary to what Porco insinuated. Tare not only in charge of Mainland Eldia’s worldwide reputation, but also paid attention on Paradis. They know movements there are stirring but didn’t know their enemies walked hand-in-hand with inner conspirators inside Marley. After all, Eren had to contact accomplices who were posted in Marley well before he came. And here I thought Marley would’ve learned of their mistakes after deporting so many restorationists and knowing the cooperative doctor trick... Oh well…

After all, Paradis provide something absolutely precious: The Founder and thousands of wall titans to threaten Marley if necessary. The restorationists also hope one day, Eldia will return. These are the kind of people who would try to reach contact with Paradis. The question is, how and when. Did the army on Paradis retrieve a telegraph when the ships disappeared?

…Or does the Warhammer Titan has a special communication power?

Back to the present. After ratting Eren out, Willy describes the fate of the Tybur family to the public, about how they became the patricians of the Eldians while the rest of their own people was forced to live in internment zones. As he tries to shed himself away from the lie, he stares at the actors, at his family and at his bodyguard, apologizing for his sacrifice. It could be interpreted as a physical sacrifice, considering Eren won’t spare them no matter what they do, and as an immaterial sacrifice, as revealing the truth about the story behind the Great War would mean the Tybur family no longer stands as a dignified one.

The Founder can also create new class of titans. That’s how the Wall Titans were born. Now if it isn’t a frightening power to have… No doubt, if Eren ever uses the Founder in his own way, consequences are going to be a disaster. That’s why Zeke maintains distance with him as far as possible. Yikes… The other fact is us knowing what the three walls represented. Say hello to Maria Fritz, Rose Fritz and Sina Fritz, the daughters of Ymir! At the same time, the represented children in ending 3, devouring the remains of their mother. Next segment is about the threat of the wall titans, cementing the reason as to why Paradis is frightening.

Especially when a guy like this is the switch – Ch. 100

Willy also emphasizes the current technology isn’t on par with millions of Colossus titans with the possibility to flatten the Earth till nothing is left. Picture that as the stampede charge in the Lion King, but with more people and broader ways.

In the meantime, Magath indirectly reveals that part of the plan was indeed to bring the warriors on the rooftop for safety. Whoever that trapdoor guy was, he clearly didn’t want to have any interference from them when Eren kills Willy. According to Koslow, he scoffed away. I hope the message Pieck left to her panzer unit will make them take a second guess and make them look for the guy.

Speaking of Pieck, she and Porco fell in a well destined to trap the warriors: deep, small, narrow, a perfect cylinder… Still no idea if that trap was freshly prepared, or if it was there to entertain prisoners. Considering whoever is responsible left a potty, some food and a water bottle, they don’t want the two of them to feel uncomfortable till their business is done. What’s the point of dropping necessities when the soldiers are going to find them sooner or later and they’ll have some reserves to fight?

Who is this guy? – Ch. 100

Two important facts remain about this guy: Pieck has an impression of deja-vu and Porco mentions how tall he is. That soldier is closer to 190 cm and only Pieck gets vague mentions. As improbable as it seems to be, that guy might be from Paradis, because so far, I can’t see any candidate from the interior. It can be a new character as well, considering the traits don’t match with people from Paradis at 100%. The fact that he goofed on Zeke’s appellation and treating honorary Marleans like dirt says a lot: he isn’t familiar with Marley’s military at all.

Supposing he’s from Paradis: it’s natural for Pieck to have a blurry memory about it, since she rushed to take Reiner away. There’s the titans in the south, but they’ve all been guillotined or killed by the garrison and the SC. There’s only 9 survivors at the battle of Shiganshina: she would’ve remembered Levi, since his nightmarish face on top of the wall is something you clearly don’t forget (and the sizes don’t match), Eren and a quick glance of Hange, Jean and Connie. Hange has an eye missing and is too small to fit, leaving Jean and Connie as candidates. This guy has features closer to Connie aside from the eye and the size. I understand growth spurts, but we’re talking about 35cm. That’s the kind of growth spurt you witness between 13 and 16 years. Not 16 and19 years. Yet the mistakes, the extra care… Sounds like it’s been prepped by someone too stupid for his own good.

That person can be a lone wolf as Pieck says. Which would imply the existence of a third party who wanted to have a part to play at the festival. Considering Eren contacted his brethren as soon as he came inside Liberio and considering how this person wanted to fish out the warchief with royal blood from the rest of the group, this is highly unlikely.

Yet Eren carefully hid the fact he needs to touch someone with royal blood to activate the Coordinate to everybody, for the sake of preserving Historia. If anybody on Paradis knows, it’ll be through deduction, but that also means Eren won’t be on their side 100% and they must take account of this fact. That soldier clearly knows Zeke was important. That’s why he was isolated from the rest of the warriors. The only people knowing Zeke is a royal blood are Eren, and the people who had contact with the restorationists.

Unless that soldier really was from Paradis and was lied to. Or it’s a plan to double-team Eren.

Eren drops the façade

That’s really a dick move for sure – Ch. 100

Feels weird to see Eren talk to Reiner that way after their conversation in the trees. The haven’t really had a face-off in Shiganshina. At least not one that doesn’t consist in punching each other in the face.

As we see Eren growing his foot back like it was a flower, Falco’s image of the humble war victim crumbled. What he has in front of him is the world’s enemy he unconsciously helped.

The careless mailman – Ch. 100

Eren’s wording here still holds a part of truth. I suspected his “family” was in fact his “companions” instead of his biological family. But with the existence of this trapdoor guy, and the implication Marley has too many enemies, what can we deduce from that?

In the previous chapters, Eren told Falco it was too hard to show himself to his “family”. He thanks him a month later for the “many letters he sent”. In this chapter, he reveals to who exactly they were destined. That can only imply his accomplices were posted there before he came inside Liberio. When exactly is a mystery, since Eren stalked Reiner at Fort Slava and was revealed to stand on both legs and see with both eyes, while wearing his armband the wrong way. Meaning he self-inflicted these wounds before hopping in the train back to Marley. I assume it was recently.

Eren had an idea of who was the receiver and what he planned to say, and who he was expecting to meet. The letter can’t go to Paradis since only Willy has a faint idea of what Paradis is supposed to do. Since Willy mentioned how they’ve been neglecting what’s under their nose, I assume there’s a new restorationist network going around. Eren, who has Kruger and Grisha’s memories, probably knows it wasn’t going extinct. Hell, maybe Kruger prepared some kind of testament in case the Owl should return.

And in fact, Eren contacting his accomplices is oddly reminiscent of Kruger sending letters and resources to the restorationists. He didn’t reveal his identity and wasn’t completely 100% honest with them either. In fact, Eren could even communicate simple words to them like “I have returned” and “Do X and Y. Only then I will reveal myself at the festival.”. After all, being in possession of the Founder was Grisha’s group initial plan.

Frankly, I’d rather look for more explanations in the next chapter, because an underlying network of conspirators is more favorable than Paradis being set in Marley during a short period of time. While it’s true they deduced Marley was busy with something else, did they really have a moment during the 4-year timeskip to dispatch someone else?

That and when Eren is talking about “returning to his hometown” … Did he talk about retrieving Zeke then activating the Wall Titans on Paradis… or making Liberio his new capital for him and his buddies? After all, he told Reiner he was here for the same reason he was on Paradis. That could mean making Marley lose their capital.

Speaking of Eren and Reiner…

“You were just a child. What could you have done to fight back against that? Your environment, your history.” – Ch. 100

Eren elaborates his point of view when Willy depicted him as a world menace. He knows he’s going to eradicate his enemies and pushes his sense of responsibility away by declaring he and Reiner are the same. He eventually proves his mindset right when Reiner answers his questions. Just before Reiner broke down, Eren explains Reiner fought against Paradis because he believed in a Good vs. Evil scenario, without trying to understand both sides. That’s pure projection on his part, assuming what Willy told onstage. He also brings up his short trip in the enemy territory as evidence he just feels the same, when the circumstances were completely different. That way, he feels like he’s on par with Reiner. At least it’ll be easier for him when he’s going to kill the Tybur patriarch.

There’s also him shrugging away his old promise.

None of his expressions reflect guilt. More like a way to justify his actions in the future. If Reiner destroyed his home under the pretense of fighting devils, he can too. Except Eren does that on an “enlightened” level, where he doesn’t acknowledge one side is better than the other. Really though, he doesn’t want to acknowledge his mistakes and turn back. From the day he learned titans were in fact humans, that didn’t prevent him to brag about retaking his hometown. In this case, he wants to repay Reiner’s actions while toying with his morality.

Part of the reason why I suspect Eren is more chill about it than in the past is because he kept his promises to some extent: not only the plans for his capture all failed, but he -with the help of the SC- took back Shiganshina and Wall Maria. Paradis is no longer inhabited by titans and cherry on the cake, he took Reiner’s party members away and made Bertolt pay. It’s easier to face Reiner now that they’re even. After all, he never cared that much for his motives when they met during the battle of Shiganshina, or how he feels about the mission in general. Why would he change his mind now?

I think Reiner interpreted Eren’s logic as if he wanted revenge against the ugly demons living on Paradis, leading to the next segment…

Reiner’s breakdown

Reiner wanting judgement on his actions – Ch. 100

The hanged man syndrome kicked in. It was foreshadowed since last chapter, where Bertolt guessed that old man’s intentions. And now Reiner is doing the same to Eren now: spilling the beans while waiting for him to finish him off.

Throughout these nine years, Reiner was plagued with guilt, alongside Bertolt and Annie. The way he breaks down in front of Eren reminds me of the way Bertolt broke down in front of Jean, Connie, Armin and Mikasa. The three are conscious of how unforgivable their actions are, yet they had to stain their blood with hands.

When Reiner acknowledged how stupid he was as a kid, it’s not because he finally realized not everybody on Paradis is a devil, but it’s because he heavily insisted for the mission to continue, even after Marcel’s death, leading him and his teammates for a long stay inside the walls. That also explains why he had a flashback of Karina before Annie and Bertolt turned back. Despite being rejected by his father, despite learning he was never meant to be chosen for the Armor and despite Marcel being eaten instead of him, he still clung on his will to become a hero and be respected. He himself didn’t understand that spark of motivation quite well at that time…

Him getting friendly with the 104th was also fueled by the same desire. He was a big brother figure to them and profited out of it, till it became his coping method after Marco’s death.

Reiner endorses the responsibility – Ch. 100

And most of all, he blames himself for everything, from Marcel’s death to the death of thousands of civilians. It got him going for nearly a decade, up to the point where he wants to die and be forgotten. Notice how he doesn’t try to justify himself contrary to what Eren tries to do. Reiner was extremely pushy sometimes, sure. But unlike Eren, he never fled responsibility, or try to mask it with excuses like “we don’t know what the right choice is”.

Regardless of what Eren thinks, his situation was, and is still different from Reiner’s: despite the propaganda, the warriors were still forced to do these things. They had to comply with Marley’s orders without question or else they had to “give the weapons away” (read: being devoured). Meanwhile, nobody forced Eren to join any military branch, or cross the sea to launch an offensive against the world. He chose that on his own and claimed he didn’t have a choice because he wanted to preserve himself.

He was more concerned about Willy’s last part.

Attack on the World

Declaration of war – Ch. 100

Willy is well-conscious he might die in a few seconds when he’s wrapping his speech up. He doesn’t want to die but he chose to take that risk to advance. He hates his blood as well as his affiliation and wished for his kind to be extinct. But now that an opportunity has been presented, maybe there’s hope for them.

What triggered Eren is his own words from Willy’s mouth. More than Reiner’s speech. After all, he’s the one using the “I was born into this world” sentence to justify him going to the outside world. He deserves anything he wants, because he was born free. That’s an opposite with most characters of this manga who think they don’t deserve anything nice because of their upbringing and their responsibility. Two things Eren ignores in his motto.

Fuckin’ poser – Ch. 100

The moment where Eren really begins to be irked is when the crowd cheers for Willy’s emotional performance while he begs the world to fight against the devils of Paradis (read: himself). That’s where he stood up to deceive Reiner one last time before transforming.

I’ve also noticed Willy begged for world unity against Paradis in his last words. That too, parallels with Eren’s theory of the world uniting against a powerful threat before they capture Wall Maria back.

As I’ve noticed in another post, the way Eren talked to and helped Reiner is reminiscent of the way Bertolt helped him out. Way to spit on Reiner’s vulnerability.

Eren also straight up doesn’t care about who is in the way. He just offed Eldians in the building above and was ready to sacrifice Falco, since he was no longer useful. And finally, he crushed Willy’s spine instead of eating him. Well at least that strikes down the theory of him combining all the titan powers.

While I’m fairly confident Reiner is still alive, I can’t say the same for Falco. If he’s lucky, maybe he’ll survive. Meanwhile, Eren exploded in a basement at close range, before Reiner could bite his hand. If the explosion doesn’t kill Falco, the falling concrete will. The reason why I’m doubting that is because I’ve seen my share of bullshit survivals (*cough*Armin*cough*Mikasa being fine after firing a thunderspear*cough*) in this manga.

Looks like Eren’s going to stomp in the masses and probably target the people Reiner love, for sweet karma. Gabi and Karina may be the next targets. In the meantime, there’s no warrior around to stop him.

Zeke in the streets – Ch. 100

Speaking of Zeke, he only appeared in a single panel. Looks like he isn’t going next to the front gate. Or he is but he’s taking his time, since he knows fully well he’s heading straight to an ambush. In both cases he must not let Eren encounter him. Amusingly enough, his only panel was juxtaposed next to Willy’s sentence: “I wished for the extinction of all Eldians”. I think deep down, it’s what Zeke wanted, too.

Both Zeke and Willy share something in common due to their lineage: the burden of carrying the family’s sins. Willy felt bad for being born in a family whose fame and glory is made on lies, as he watched his fellow Eldians suffering in internment zones, their reputation being degraded each day passing. Zeke resents his lineage for being tied to an extremist who wanted to use him for his personal gain and a royal blood who thought the same. And he’s now tied to a younger brother with said extremist’s views and the power from the royal blood.

I can’t wait for 101 and how Liberio is transforming itself into a warzone. That’s going to be interesting to watch, despite the death count and Reiner’s angst-o-meter rising. Looks like Lady Kiyomi made the right decision by getting out.

Mostly set in the human capital city

Lance is an Elf mage but he hides those things because both Elves and mages are somewhat persecuted these days (elves are pretty rare anyway, especially out of their kingdom)

He lives with Hunk in his smithy shop, sometimes helping out

he’s better with helping with sales rather than the actual making but he also helps around the house

Hunk’s a pretty well known & liked weapons maker who learn from his father

His mother was a baker who also taught him how to cook (they live in a far away village where Hunk grew up)

Hunk met Lance on his journey when he first left his village to move to the city - they’ve been friends ever since

Pidge and her brother own and run a small, dodgy, but very lively & popular, tavern

just because she’s a small girl, do not think you can cheat her out of money, she can destroy a man

She sits behind the bar & tinkers or chats to Lance and/or Hunk when they come in, and sometimes serves drinks

The Tavern is the boys fave place to hang out

Broganes:

Shiro is known as The Black Prince - he’s a bit of a mysterious figure that was kind of adopted by the royal family of Altea (guess who they are lol)

He’s not a true prince, but he is given noble status and lives in the palace and is treated like family so it just became common practice to refer to him as a prince

Keith is known as The Dragon Knight - he’s even more mysterious

Next to no one knows his actual name or much else but they’re pretty sure he’s Prince Shiro’s brother or something??? Or squire??? apprentice??? bodyguard??????

Either way they’re pretty much never seen apart

They work together to do jobs for the Crown - secret and/or important jobs that need special attention (and fighting because, hell, they’re warriors, that’s what they’re trained to do)

They’re not true biological brothers - Shiro found Keith in a super bad state and pretty much adopted him

The age gap is a bit too small for father/son relationship though so... they’re very much like siblings

Keith isn’t human, either - He’s a Draconian, or Dragonkin - which is the kingdom’s enemy basically

nobody other than Shiro & the royal family know this about Keith - well, except for Lance, Hunk, & Pidge but nobody except Keith knows that they know.... if that makes sense?

Klance:

Lance and Hunk are working in the shop and some highborn dude and some lady friends are in there getting his weapon fixed or smth idk

and the ladies are gossiping

“Did you hear? The Black Prince and The Dragon Knight are finally back in the city! They’re holding a ball at the palace tonight to celebrate their return!” (they’ve been away for like, a month and a half at this point)

And Lance is all “what is this i hear??? a party?? for the returned heroes of the realm??? Where do I sign up??”

Except they kind of scoff because “you’re not a noble???” before going back to giggling about how maybe they’ll be the one to woo the Dragon Knight and get in his pants

And Lance is quietly snorting because man does he have info that you do not about your intended target

They leave and Hunk and Lance go to the tavern to see Pidge and Lance is immediately like “Pidge! You gotta get me into that party!!! I beg of you!! I desperately need to be there!!”

And Pidge of course is all “wtf kind of friend do you think I am?? I was already organising it from the moment I heard they were back in town. Because I’m amazing. You’ll be there.” And Lance thanks her profusely

Meanwhile, Keith is whining like a small child because “I don’t want to go to this stupid ball, Shiro! Why must I goooo???? I don’t do SOCIAL!” *flops dramatically onto the bed like a child throwing a tantrum*

Shiro is totally sick of this bullshit - some hero of the fucking realm this kid will be the end of me - you have to go keith because you’re p much treated like a prince same as me and you need to fucking represent the castle and also the whole damn party is for you and me and you need to be polite and also socialising is what nobles do and you are legit a noble like it or not ffs go get dressed properly no you can’t wear your armour to the party i love you but pls don’t test me i’m so fucking tired

So he goes to the party but partway through he sees something, or someone that shouldn’t be there and catches his interest and follow them out of the main hall - bye keef

And suddenly Shiro turns around and is all “He fucking snuck off??? The shit head! I’m gonna find him and drag him back to the party!!” And goes to find Keith

He barges into Keith’s room yelling for him only to find Keith with his tongue down some other boys throat (it’s Lance btw) and his response is a) wtf?????? and b) this random could be dangerous get tf away from my bro or i will slice you in half with my magic fake hand and don’t you dare use magic because my magic detection skills are through the roof and i’ve just noticed you’re a mage which is basically outlawed unless controlled by the government and who the hell are you?

He also then notices that Keith’s glamour is down and his horns and shit are fully visible and he is wholly unconcerned by this - which he shouldn’t be???

And Keith is super protective of Lance and will fight his own brother to protect this boy and if you touch him Shiro you will pay I swear on my life

After everyone calms down a little, we find out the truth

Lance and Keith have been dating for like, 3 years or smth now.

The reason Lance wanted to go to the ball was cuz he missed Keith like hell while he was away - and Keith def missed him too. an insane amount

They’re hiding it for so many reasons firstly because Lance is an elf and oh man that would not go down well with the public and also just cuz they think right now it’s the safest option

Once he processes this, Shiro is super supportive

Idk where I’m going from there but it’s a lot of hijinks and adventure with the gang in various fantasy roles

hunk is tank or healer? Pidge like a rogue or support? Lance obvs powerful mage, Keith is dragon knight/dark knight kind of role, shiro... paladin??? i’m getting there

So, I was watching Disney’s Princess and the Frog again and I was thinking about a klance au.

Lance, obviously, is Naveen, the obnoxious and womanizer (and bankrupted) Prince (from Cuba). Keith is the hardworking hot headed pilot assistant at Garrison, that hates his current job and just want to fly across the world (but needs money to finish his airplane that he’s building himself). Sendak is Dr. Facilier (wait, I will come back for this) Hunk is Louis, and HE wants to be a chef (but people just won’t stop shooting him when he approches a kitchen, wtf) Coran is (sigh) Juju with a mustache. Yes. Allura have magical powers and is +10.000 years old soooo makes sense that she “”is”” Mama Odie in this. Pidge is Ray in here (BUT NO, SHE/THEY WILL NOT DIE IN THIS AU, FIGHT ME) and instedd of Pidge in love with a star, we have Pidge miss their/her brother Matt very much and talks with the star pretending that it is Matt, whom died a long time ago. (sorry Matt, but it’s you or Pidge) Shiro “”is”” Charlotte. He is Keith’s best friend and hella rich, ‘cause his dad owns the Garrison, the most famous and prestigious pilot school in the country.

Yes, Shiro falls in love with Lance. (well hello there shance, long time no see)

So, actually, Sendak wants the influence of the Takashi family (and Shiro’s body) and rule over Garrison (and the country), but Shiro really hates him, so he disguise himself as Lance (a supposedly wealthy prince must attract SOME attention, right?)

Okay, so, Lance was going there for business with the Garrison and the school throw a fancy party to welcome him, but Sendak catch him first and transform Lance into a frog. He’s pendant is a blue lion. Keith was only in that party because Shiro asked him to be there (and Shiro put a stupid crown on him, fuck you Shiro).

Lance finds Keith with the crown on and asks for the kiss (he thought at first that Keith was a girl, because of the mullet). He promised all the resources for Keith’s plane (lies, he’s broke, bad Lance, bad Lance.)

They later find Hunk, he was cooking and they were attracted to the smell of food. Hunk decided to help when Lance said that he would hire him as a royal cook when they all turn into humans. Keith is so done with Lance that doesn’t even say anything about this bullshit. Hunk is actually afraid of Princess Allura of the Swamp so he leads the frogs to the wrong way.. ooops.

Trouble comes (Sendak needs more of Lance’s blood) and Pidge arrives to save the night! They/She leads them to the right path and they find the Princess!

Lance tries to kiss her, but Princess of the Swamp isn’t a title strong enough, sorry. (Keith wants to murder Lance for even trying and does not understand why he is mad at the first plance). Allura then tells they that “a kiss from a princess/prince” is not needed. He only needs to take the blue lion back from Sendak.... Or a true love kiss, she’s not too certain about it. The boys ignores the second option “because is too cliché to be true”.

(Sendak dies without the blue lion because of the voodoo that drained all of his soul and body with the shape-shifting)

Keith is SHOOK when he finds out that Shiro is dating Sendak-Lance and kinda jealous. Shiro finds out the true and is SO SAD, MY POOR SHIRO!! He helps Lance to steal the blue lion back.

BUUUUUT that didn’t work, and Keith was sad but Lance was DEVASTATED because he missed his family so much and he was crying and Keith couldn’t take it anymore so he kissed Lance to make him feel better, and Lance was kissing him back and-- what? They’re humans again?!

Pidge reminds they about the second option of the true love kiss, AND THE LITTLE BASTARD IS SO SMUG ABOUT IT - She/they won’t stop snickering with Hunk.

Lance is with that shit-eating grin of his saying “Oh, so you love me, huh” and Keith deadpans “You have to love me too for this have worked, you know” and Lance starts stuttering and blushing and “oh my god, I DO??? I mean, you’re awesome and smart, of course I would love you too but you’re so mean and--”

Keith makes him shut the fuck up with another powerful kiss.

Lance is welcome back in the McClain family, they finish building Keith’s plane and travel around the world together after a long stay in Lance’s castle. 

Shiro supports they and is happy with their happiness. (Maybe he even go and meets the princess of the swamp, who knows?).

Hunk really ends up hired as a royal cook for Lance’s family.

Pidge visits Hunk sometimes, Allura other times, and she/they even stumble in Lance and Keith some other times.

Voltron: Legendary Defender were everything is the same except Shiro’s PTSD is actually fucking addressed in some way by the show. 

- the paladins recognize Shiro’s symptoms as PTSD and call them PTSD because the galaxy garrison is clearly a military organization so of course they’ve been taught how to recognize the symptoms. 

- Somebody actually fucking acknowledges that while shiro’s flashback did help them defeat that robeast he also had a PTSD flashback in the middle of a battle and wtf are you ok?

- also Shiro had a flashback during a battle while sharing headspace with everyone and also froze during training and we really need to talk about that because if it happens again it could literally kill us. 

- the pods notice that shiro’s brain chemistry is different from the others and asks shiro (and then the other paladins when shiro dodges the question) if this is normal and they come up with a way to make Shiro antidepressants. 

- the castle ship has other personality holograms stored on board (since one application of that technology, particularly on a ship that the royal family stayed on, would be to have advisers, councillors and experts in storage and always available to the royal family) and Allura and Coran turn one on to act as a therapist for Shiro. Or they turn on a hologram of someone who has had similar experiences to Shiro, such as a Altean warrior who was a POW so Shiro can have someone who understands what he has been through that he can talk to that isn’t in his chain of command. 

- hell, how about using some of those holograms (including, you know, the Alfor one since he’s fought against Zarkon before) to help Allura and Shiro with strategy and planning? Or some technology experts to help Pidge and Hunk with their projects and Coran with the upkeep and improvement of the ship? (because let’s be real, I’ve had drinks stronger than that ship’s particle barrier) How about some physical trainers or coaches to help with aspects of their training Shiro doesn’t have experience with (particularly for Lance and Hunk, since Shiro can’t train them to shoot?) How about someone who knows about Voltron, either a former paladin or someone who worked on the lions, since they know so little about Voltron in the first season and how it works? Even if your use of the holograms is limited due to power issues or the limitations of the technology that’s still an incredible resource that’s going unused. And of course, any kind of help Shiro can get to make is job less stressful is going to help his mental state. 

- Pidge and Hunk exhaustively scan and go over Shiro’s arm(and the rest of his body- just because the arm’s obvious doesn’t mean it the only modification Haggar made) and review the scans with Shiro so that everyone is absolutely sure that there’s no tracking devices or self-destruct programs (or at least, as sure as they can be- in season 1 they are working with tech that is 10,000 year out of date).

They also have a talk about maintenance of the arm and if Shiro wants to be sedated for that, and how much.

They also have a talk about what modifications, if any can be made, to make the arm less painful (ie surgery to reduce scar tissue in the stump, if the arm was lost in the arena and not amputated, making it removable so 1.) shiro doesn’t have to be there when they take apart his arm for maintenance, which is def going to trigger a flashback considering what we know of Shiro’s Fun Year 2.) for safety, so Shiro knows that if he is being tracked through the arm despite all their scans or if it’s damaged so badly its slowing him down or some nasty surprise of haggar’s they didn’t detect activates and puts shiro or the team at risk he can remove it.) 

Doing the same full body scan anytime Shiro disappears for any length of time, particularly if they know that he’s been in Galra custody. Like, this is such a obvious precaution and if they’d done that the second time Shiro reappeared we could have avoided the whole evil clone plot. At this point (season 2) they have access to Okari tech, which is more advanced than galra tech so it’s totally feasible either the paladins or the Okari would have been able to tell that Shiro’s arm is different that the one he had before, which should have been a major red flag.

giving shiro’s arm a tracking/rescue beacon because shiro gets lost more often than my car keys 5 minutes before I have to go to work. 

scanning shiro’s left arm and modifying the Altean holographic technology (or acquiring some kind of projecting tech) to project that scan over shiro’s right arm so that it looks like a regular arm when not in use.That way Shiro doesn’t have to be reminded of his Fun Year every time he uses his dominant hand. 

Eventually, replacing Shiro’s arm altogether so that he doesn’t have a reminder of his trauma bolted to his body at all times. 

using the altean’s mind-projecting tech we see the paladins use in season 1 to help shiro process his traumatic memories so he doesn’t have flashbacks in the middle of a fight (this is actually how PTSD treatment works- the memories are not forgotten, just not fully processed the way that normal memories are, so you have to dredge them back up and process them fully with the help of a therapist so they don’t jump up and bite you in the ass anytime something that slightly reminds you of them happens. Such as, oh, fighting for your life against the empire that caused your trauma in the first place.) 

Speaking of exposure therapy, Shiro spending time with the Blade. One of the ways that we help people with PTSD process those memories is exposing them to situations that remind them of their trauma (Like, being around Galra) in a safe environment. Also, I’m willing to be that a lot of the Blade have experience with PTSD and being traumatized by the Galra empire so again, someone Shiro can talk to that understands, at least partially, his experiences. 

Stop being a bunch of cowards and let Shiro acknowledge his PTSD in the show and seek help for it. It’s not some kind of moral failing if a character has to seek outside help to overcome a traumatic experience. As someone who has PTSD and has tried to both stoic-ing through it the way canon Shiro does and actually doing the work (through therapy, support groups, and medication) to deal with that trauma, doing the work is much harder and takes more courage than just trying to ignore it. There’s a lot of trial and error involved, and therefore a lot of failure and wasted effort. It takes a lot of work and resources, consistently over a period of time. it requires being out of your comfort zone and feeling lots of extreme and bad emotions, which is way more exhausting that you would think. You can’t do it on your own, so you have to give up control to other people, with the knowledge that even other survivors or people trained to deal with abuse victims will still accidentally hurt you when you are being vulnerable to them, because part of PTSD is being constantly hypersensitive to everything but especially anything related to your trauma. You have to process and remember your trauma over and over until your brain stops freaking out over it. Ignoring it is way easier than confronting it, especially if you have something to distract you like an interstellar war. But that shit does not go away on its own. And honestly, when you are leading other people who have a responsibility to them to address PTSD because it affects them too. And if you know one of your teammates and friends went through though something that traumatic and you can see that it is affecting them, wouldn’t you want to help them, both as a friend and as someone who you rely on to be mentally healthy enough to protect your life and make good leadership positions?

Alice: Timeline before the show

{{ This is a rough approximation of how Alice grew up in greater detail than on her muse page.

   Alice was born on Altea to parents who quickly moved onto one of the great Library ships*. She grew up with an informal education as the Libraries-great for learning but not for teaching- essentially had her learn everything on her own with what help the other librarians could give her

    She ended up spending alot of time in training simulations, and spent much of her time looking to learn about ships of all shapes and sizes. She learned about both how to fly and the maintenance of most ships. Which ended up being her job as a grease monkey for the Grand Libraries small fighter ships. 

    However she also found out about the abuse of the system set up by the Grand Librarians and helped a small resistance form and end the abuse of a system too old to be functional in their day and age.

    This garnered attention from the Altean royal family. Alice didn’t know Alfor knew of her existence as things settled.

Then the Galra attacked and Alfor needed a new Black Paladin. While there were quite a few candidates Alice was the easiest to obtain and didn’t have that much in the way of other responsibilities as she had returned to being the grease monkey of the Library’s small fleet of guards. 

   She also did fly one of those ships herself and was trained to be a part of the official Library’s guard before being recruited for Temp! Paladin duty.

    They officially fought once, but Alice did a few runs with the lion. While the Lion was willing to allow herself to be piloted Alice just wasn’t as compatible as Alfor would have hoped.

    Maybe if they’d had more time Alice would have broken some of that bond the Black lion and Zarkon had, but they were short on time.

     Instead Alfor sent the Lions into hiding, and Alice was tasked with hiding the libraries.

10,000 years pass and she wakes up on a very different Earth than what she arrived at. 

    Alice was found in a pod that had been jettisoned from the Library as it was failing and the damage to the pod was enough to give her a mild form of amnesia. She was found only 10 or so years ago.

    Alice was moved from the “WTF aliens are real” to “must keep close to make sure she can be monitored” to “Ok so we can’t really figure out what to do with you” stages rather quickly. Eventually using the Altean’s natural ability to camouflage to hide she joined the garrison, her knowledge of ships aiding in training cadets.

    She mainly handles physical conditioning, running the Gym classes for newer recruits and helping students where she can. She also is trying to revive the library ship so she can bring it to the surface of the ocean she left it in. In order to keep Earth safe. She’s about halfway to getting it powered enough to rise out of the water. 

    Earth is her first planetary home having been a baby when she was brought to the Library, as such she will protect it as much as she can.

(The Library is something of my own invention, an answer to what if something other than the Castle survived. And if the Altean’s royal Castle was a ship what if they had other stuff as ships?)
