jed tien ( @dehvils ) said to tyler lockwood ; all the what-ifs start to haunt you, you know?
when alaric saltzman had called him, he'd ignored it. all twelve times. when caroline had called him, he'd picked up immediately. apparently the salvatore alpha had died and came back, and he wasn't having the best time adjusting to being untriggered again. and of course, since tyler had been there . . . caroline wanted to connect the two. tyler had agreed instantly, and now he was meeting up with the former werewolf at the grill. they'd already gone through the introductions, and tyler couldn't help but frown at jed's words, ❝ you're not wrong. ❞ he says in what he hopes is a somewhat reassuring tone, ❝ but you can't let that stop you from living. anything could happen . . . but you have to embrace what you are now. ❞

JED TIEN ( @dehvils ) said “It was about surviving. So I learned how to fight… and kill.”
A quiet breath falls between them as Jed's words taper off slowly and Finch knows there's a defensiveness that has instinctively sprung up within her body, a natural reaction at hearing that he has killed before, but she forces that away because this is Jed, who's practically her best friend and the closest thing she has to a sibling and everything she knows about being a wolf is pretty much due to him. She tries to remember that instead of falling back into those hellish nights, once a month when she tried to lock herself up and keep the beast at bay. Finch knows intimately well how control is basically a folly when the full moon is in the sky, and they're only moderately better without it. So she just reaches out and places her hand on top of Jed's, a brief touch of comfort before she pulls away again.
"Well, based on what you've told me... we all do that, right?" Maybe not exactly like what Jed had been put through, but every single person in the pack had killed someone. It's why they were there in the first place. "I know a thing or two about surviving, and... I think we owe it to ourselves to forgive who we had to be in order to survive." It sounds like a mangled up version of some cliche superhero line but the sentiment is still there. "Until I came here, fighting was all I knew how to do. But that's what the pack is for, right?" she musters up a smile and nudges his side playfully. "We lean on each other. That includes you, chief."

from the rundown caroline had given, jed had spent the majority of his life as a triggered wolf. tyler obviously didn't know what that was like, but he knew what it was like to lose it all. it had to be devastating for jed. he'd grown up knowing about his werewolf side, he'd grown up embracing it and being prepared for what it took to become it . . . their situations were so different, but tyler could be there for him in this. ❝ you changed at a young age. ❞ tyler pointed out, ❝ of course you didn't know what your purpose was. ❞ he shrugged his shoulders, ❝ this is your chance to figure that out. from everything caroline . . . headmistress forbes . . . has told me? you're an amazing kid. all that stuff you had before is still in you. you just have to find it. ❞
before his curse had triggered, he had been weak. unable to protect himself and others from his father's wrath, unworthy of all he had come to gain. a mere glitch in the system, a question mark, a lonesome soul until he had found the school, found his pack. until he became the beast. faint smile etches upon pallid lips, burger clutched within an iron grip abnormally unappetizing. the switch had curbed his taste for red meat. magnificent. ❛ sure, but what if i'm NOTHING like this? ❜ festering fear unlocked, terrors that kept him up in the dead of night. who was he without it all? ❛ i was never . . . i was never good, y'know? i wasn't useful or talented or anything before this. the wolf changed me; i can't let it go. ❜

kaleb was still skeptical. he loved jed, at least, he did now, but this story seemed way out there, even for him. jed had definitely been off lately, but kaleb didn't know why. he just . . . didn't seem like himself, and kaleb's brow furrowed as he listened to the story, ❝ cerberus just happened to show up? come on, jed. even for the salvatore school that's fucking wild. ❞ kaleb frowns before speaking again, ❝ what's going on with you, dude? ❞ / @dehvils
𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍 … 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊, 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐀 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐏. onyx hues shift skyward, arms folding indignantly across a leather-clad chest. recite a single bluff during your first year and now no one takes you seriously. unbelievable.
❛ dude, i swear this huge fucking dog with three headscame right at me in the woods last night! like, why would i even lie about something like that?! I IMPRESS people just by being the phenomenal alpha that i am; i don’t need to make up lies! ❜ never mind he might not even be a werewolf anymore, let alone an alpha. some things were better left unsaid until copious amounts of cheap beer.
