Who: Gen & Kira event - summer music festival. He was fine. That was Emiliano's story and he was sticking to it, and the sunbaked effects of alcohol on him helped him feel it too. That, and, of course - his current company. Music was a constant as the day dwindled, floating through the air intermingled with the whoops and hollers of fans in the crowd and idle chatter. His arm was slung around Gen's shoulders swaying, and the trio was likely giving one another a run for their money in terms of who might be the most toasted. "Oh, no - I'm not allowed to sing along," Emil laughed "I have no idea who Tanner Adell even is." He admitted and openly cringed, waiting for both of his friends to potentially give him the side-eye. He swayed and bumped his hip with Gen's, and tossed Kira an over-confident wink, "-but that doesn't stop me from dancin' around like an idiot." ( @genortiz )

starter for: @genortiz location: one of the hallways in the middle school
Since the very second the hurricane warning had been issued, Cameron had had one thought nagging at the back of his head - Juliana. He'd tried to find Genesis in the crowd to see if she had managed to contact her mother yet, but in the frantic rush to get to the school it was impossible to track anyone. By the time he got through the front doors he was soaked to the bone and frantic, and he couldn't help the frustration that leaked out into his voice when he asked the first responders at the entrance if they'd by any chance seen someone matching Genesis' description and they responded with an incredulous look, as if they hadn't just witnessed hundreds of people enter this building all at once. With a groan, he began the arduous task of storming through the school halls, scanning every person he passed, desperation and fear - over not only Juliana but also Genesis - now making him clench his fists together.

CLOSED starter for @genortiz & @camercnbishop, late afternoon, at the briar ridge boardwalk.
When Emmy saw someone walking by with ice cream, she had to have it. She'd hit him with a 'please' that came out sounding more like 'peas' and it was all over. At just the same moment, someone recognized Farrah ( a fact that had Alex rolling his eyes ), and provided just enough of a distraction that their daughter was holding neither parent's hand and was able to slip off into the crowd. In his momentary panic, Alex didn't even think of alerting Farrah, he just took off in the direction of his kid; where he could see festival goers' gazes averting downward as they moved out of the way of what he could only imagine was his little terror.
"Emerie Jean, will you please — stop," the man heaved a sigh of relief, when he discovered his toddler had done just that. With his gaze fixed on her little form, moving through the crowds, the man almost hadn't noticed that she was clinging to a woman's legs — or rather whose legs she was clinging to — until it was far too late to avoid addressing it. Genesis. And, as an extra awkward treat, she was with Cam, and... Juliana.
"Sorry," Alex spat out, almost immediately, as if he needed to get ahead of the conversation to try to mitigate the inevitable awkwardness. They weren't exactly on speaking terms but they weren't not, either. It was all fucked up and complicated and had thus far been dealt with by avoiding one another, and... "Emmy just.. ran off and I guess she recognized Gen," he continued, "and Juliana."

LOCATION: Beauty & The Beach Salon WHEN: One afternoon FOR: @camercnbishop, @genortiz
"Okay I know it's been a while," Leyla begins, placing her bag on the little side table beside her. She rarely did much to her hair other than colour her greys and occasionally get a few highlights and lowlights to liven her hair up a little, but the sun had been doing so naturally as of late. Except, the sun, heat, paired with all the swimming she'd been doing at the beach meant that her hair was in serious need of some life. Who better to make her feel better than her trusty hairdresser, Gen. "But I am in serious need of some beautifying, and there's nobody I trust more than you of course. What do you think?" Leaning back in her chair now, she sips on the water she'd been graciously offered, peering at herself in the mirror before catching Genesis's reflection. "Also, I never got to ask you. Did you end up going to the masquerade? I don't think I saw you — then again, there were masks and I was absolutely, well and truly obliterated."

THE ORTIZ HOME ➟ @genortiz
There was an obvious tension in the air, and Callum sat across from Gen, mind racing and trying to figure it all out. Everything had been different since the drunken kiss. They laughed it off like it was nothing, but weeks passed, and they hadn't spoken. She had also tried to set him up with Kira out of nowhere. Not that Callum had an issue with that, but it felt forced. Something was for sure up, and now he was sitting there a little panicked that he had fucked a good friendship up.
He took the coffee from her with a smile and mumbled thank you, then wrapped his hands around it as a means of comfort. "So, uh -- yea... what's up?" He paused momentarily to glance at her, locking eyes with her before quickly looking away and down at his drink. "This Carter fella seems to have ruffled a few feathers." They had agreed to talk about Carter, so he respected that agreement and started there.

Starter for: @genortiz Location: Eve's apartment, Downtown, Briar Ridge
Even though Eve had moved to Briar Ridge two months ago, some of her things were still in boxes. More particular... The containment of the boxes were things of the past. Things that she should've left in New York City or should have brought to the dump right away. Things that reminded her of the life that she was trying to leave behind.
Splitting up with her ex was not for the lack of love, but the situation just had gotten out of hand and it was enough for her to leave the city and just want to start all over.
With two glasses of water in hand, Eve moved back to the living room where the boxes were scattered around now. "Thank you for helping me out with this today. I am happy I don't have to do this alone."

Location: A local costume place Starter for: @genortiz
"I'm genuinely just so shocked we convinced Emil to do the Aristocats, I thought for sure he'd want Scooby Doo or something where he won't have to wear a tail." Flicking through the racks of some of the costumes the store had available, Kira pulled out on white cat onesie. "I think if I want Lucifer from Cinderella, I could wear something like this but I don't think you're going to let me get away with a onesie, are you?"
Considering she hadn't even gone out that last few years for Halloween, unless she had gone trick or treating with her friends and their children, wearing any sort of costume that wasn't just something from her closet was going to be a true accomplishment for Kira. As she pulled the onesie on and stepped around to the aisle where Genesis was looking, Kira struck a pose. "What do you think? Do you think this says 'yes I am the girl from the dating apps, glad you swiped left now?'"

WHO — Closed starter for @genortiz WHERE — A road adjacent to Silver Creek Ranch WHEN — One afternoon
Wes rode along the fence line along his usual route around the ranch, ensuring the boundaries were all maintained, when he spotted a car pulled off to the side of the road adjacent to the ranch. His irritation flared as he noticed a woman and child standing there, seemingly feeding one of his horses. People always assumed they could just stroll up and feed their animals without a second thought, and it bugged him. As he got closer, he called out, "You mind telling me why you're feeding my horse?" His tone was more curious than confrontational, but it carried the edge of annoyance he felt nonetheless. But as the woman turned to face him, he recognised her — Genesis, and her daughter Juliana, his nephew's friend. The realisation instantly had him softening his expression, and he culdn't help but raise an eyebrow as the irritation slipped away. "Oh, hey.. you're Juliana, right?"

WHO — @genortiz WHEN — saturday, march 30th WHERE — paradise point’s ballroom
"Wow..." Toni began as she approached the masked brunette, "that dress is amazing. You look incredible." Never one to hold back a compliment, especially when due, even with a potential stranger. Which was likely most everyone in attendance for her. Toni was used to mingling and striking up random conversations. This was something that had been apart of her life thanks to her father since she was a child. "Hi, sorry, I promise I'm not hitting on you. You just look stunning and I had to say something. Where'd you get such an amazing dress?" As she asked, Toni was also aware that the dress looking so amazing might have a lot to do with the figure underneath it. Still, it was something to think about for possible future events.

closed starter for: @genortiz location: luther's rare & well done
It was a bittersweet feeling, walking around Luther's on the Luther's last day. Obviously, it wouldn't be the last time Luther stepped foot into the diner, the older man had already promised Cam he would make sure to come back to town to visit every once in a while, but the feeling of an era ending weighed heavy on Cameron's shoulders.
Which was exactly why when he'd moved back to Briar Ridge and seen that Luther was selling the diner, Cameron hadn't even stopped to think before offering to purchase the place. He couldn't let Luther's go, not when it held too many precious memories for him. Memories of all you can eat bbq ribs contests with his cousin, of sharing a milkshake with the prettiest girl in town, of eventually commandeering the fourth booth on the righthand side of the diner and making it 'their booth' with said prettiest girl in town, of spending all of his free time in said booth. Memories that as much reminded him of his failure as they did of the best times of his life. And there was no way he was going to let someone else buy this place and turn it into who knows what.
So on Luther's last day, as he spent time saying his goodbye's to a community who loved him, Cameron walked around the diner greeting familiar faces, introducing himself to people he didn't know, and mostly following Luther around, watching everything the older man did as Cam familiarised himself with how the diner worked.
He had been in the back, talking with one of the cooks about the way that Luther ordered supplies, when he caught sight of a familiar head of brown hair making its way into the diner. A pang of guilt that always came with being around Genesis tugged at his heart for a brief moment as he was reminded yet again of how he had failed her, failed their marriage, even failed their daughter. Letting out a breath, Cameron supposed it was time to face the music, and stepped out of the kitchen onto the main floor. He moved towards where Luther and Genesis were talking, just in time to overhear Luther say, "Well, this place isn't going anywhere after all. Cause Cameron bought it from me." Letting out a wince, Cameron closed the gap, offering Genesis what he hoped came across as an apologetic look. He had wanted to tell her himself, but it had all been such a whirlwind since he'd made the offer, that he hadn't really had time. Cameron moving back to Briar Ridge had to have been a big enough shock for his ex-wife, she didn't need another, but here he was... offering very little warning to his movements.
When he had told Genesis he was moving back, there really hadn't been much of a plan for Cameron. All he knew was that he had nothing to do but work on his relationship with Juliana. That was, and would remain, priority number one for him. Buying a diner had not been part of the plan and he only hoped that this out-of-character lack of planning didn't come back around to bite him in the ass. Once Luther had stepped away to greet another regular customer, Cameron closed the gap between him and his ex wife a bit. "Surprise." Letting out a guilty chuckle as he rubbed at the back of his neck, he wondered how angry she'd be at him. "I swear this wasn't part of the plan and I just didn't tell you when I got back here." he quickly explained. "Luther mentioned he was selling so he could move out west to be with his family and I just couldn't let this place go." Punctuating his explanation with a shrug of his shoulders, he hoped she'd understand.

closed starter for @genortiz, at the beauty & the beach salon, just after close.
It was stupid that Alex still felt so wound up and bitter over something that was nearly a lifetime ago, but he couldn't help it. Ever since he'd come to realize that Gen was... Gen, he'd been fucked up over it. Maybe what everyone said about your first love was true; you just never really forgot them. And it was probably harder to do so when you inadvertently move to their hometown.
Since he'd had to pay his babysitter for longer than normal, he'd stayed at the office much longer to read through more pages of his latest discovery for his newest case and, as a result, he'd turned up to the now darkened salon still donning his suit. He'd ditched his tie in his car before stepping out onto the curb, but he somehow still felt ridiculous as his knuckles rapped gently against the glass door of the salon.
"Gen, it's Alex," he said flatly. He didn't know what to expect from this conversation, but he was already dreading it, and ready to get it over with.
