Hey admins~ while I like you guys give a lot of freedom I'm a bit stuck with all the choices 😂 I'm indecisive what can I say lol. Any way you guys can give us hints on your vision for the opens? I'm struggling 😭

hello, thank you for your inquiry! i understand where you are coming from, since we have more of a sandbox approach to character creation. i imagine that there would be doubts if a character would fit the verse, especially if you're hesitating on a muse you've put your heart into. :< rejections are never fun and i will stress that during our review process, what we mainly look for is team composition, not what a muse "should be" about.

i avoid prescribing roles because i've ran a "skeleton" rp before (truth be told, it was more of a "bio" rp with detailed backstories) and it was really successful! however, in the end, i felt disappointed in myself because while i was able to see my vision come to life, i did not feel i had done enough to elevate the creativity of my players. i always want to improve not only as a writer, but an admin too in facilitating a supportive writing community.

however, i see lately that people want a little more guidance! so i hope no one minds if i draw the curtains on how we came up with these skeletons below. please feel free to use these as a guideline, but if you have another idea for your muse, go with what calls out to you! i sincerely hope this motivates the writing process for those working away on their apps.

every skeleton is, in a way, tied to an exploration of ethics and morality. each raises a question on how can one enact the concept of justice, when all the parameters for justice and fairness is wholly a social pact with an idea of "good."

[𝐶𝑂𝑊𝐵𝑂𝑌 𝐺𝑅𝐸𝐸𝑇𝐼𝑁𝐺]; what happens to the victims of the choices the foundation makes to keep the peace? is it right for them not to know what happened? how does the foundation know they're not leaving ghosts of people by forcing them to forget?

[𝐻𝐼𝐺𝐻 𝐹𝐼𝐷𝐸𝐿𝐼𝑇𝑌]; science is rife with historical and current-day ethical conflicts, all for "the betterment of society." what research goal are they pursuing that they feel justifies the experiment? how far will someone go to "advance" science? what personal reasons come into the mix?

[𝐾𝐼𝑁𝐺'𝑆 𝐺𝐴𝑀𝐵𝐼𝑇]; how far is too far when pursuing revenge, even if it would be justified? who should atone, and in what way? how does one measure vindication? at what point does the pursuit of justice become tainted by wrath?

[№2 𝑃𝐸𝑁𝐶𝐼𝐿]; in the act of wanting forgiveness, the desire of exoneration usually does not come from the victim. what are the pressures on the innocent for providing "absolution" to the guilty? what are the consequences of turning the other cheek? how can those who were hurt heal during the process of forgiveness?

[𝑃𝐸𝑅𝐹𝐸𝐶𝑇 𝑆𝑇𝑅𝐴𝑁𝐺𝐸𝑅]; how do those in a lower standing of "power" deal with the inequality they often face in their lives? what causes apathy in those affected the most by these unjust circumstances? is there anyone who is allowed to "look away" to keep going?

[𝑅𝐸𝑉𝐸𝑅𝑆𝐸 𝐸𝑁𝐺𝐼𝑁𝐸𝐸𝑅]; how does a moral exemplar deal with a huge mistake? can a single misstep overturn all the goodwill they've created? additionally, what ethical issues arise in the field of academia? whose efforts are recognized, whose work go on uncredited? what biases do those in power have when creating a "canon" of academic work?

[𝑇𝑅𝐸𝐸 𝐻𝑈𝐺𝐺𝐸𝑅]; what code of ethics do we as humans abide by? is that line of justice skewed by our anthropomorphic lens? what are things that exist in nature that conflict the interests of people? can one advocate for something that may harm people if it protects "the other"?

[𝑉𝐸𝐿𝑉𝐸𝑇 𝐺𝐿𝑂𝑉𝐸]; when negotiating opposing sides, what constitutes a "right" compromise? who are the people making these promises, and how do they represent the people they're making deals on behalf of? additionally, is it right to judge someone's social climb when they came from nothing? is it morally wrong to want to serve one's self-interests if those actions also help others?

[𝑄𝑈𝑂𝑇𝐸 𝑈𝑁𝑄𝑈𝑂𝑇𝐸]; where does liberty and freedom coincide and clash with the ideas of justice and equality? how does one navigate what to restrict and what to allow? who makes those choices for everyone? how does the dissemination and suppression of information influence public perception?

First of all, you can answer this ask publicly if you want. And secondly, you should know that when it comes to my favorite fanfiction writers ,which you are one of them, I trand to wait until the fic is completed because I know myself being impatient and putting my mind on it everyday all day long. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don't. And in your case, I managed to wait up until the chapter 7 of your recent fic "unless you ask me to " and I finally gave in and I read it.  And Jenwyn, you also should know that it's really rare for me to cry over fic or a book, hell it's really rare for me to cry in general. Part of it is because of my disability, cp which I know is something strange to understand. Anyway, like I know you would, your writing really got my heart and the way you bring the character study is incredibly beautiful and fascinating and amazing. It really touched me in places where I could see myself in Eddie's position. I found myself feeling the same feelings and having the same doubts as he had through the story. I can't stop thinking about this beautiful story and I'm really grateful for you to write more about ace/demi tropes. Because reading your fics helps me understand myself better. I knew recently that I'm demi and still was wondering how dating from the very beginning makes me so uncomfortable. Is that still a part of being demi? I even talked about it in my blog and understand that I'm not alone in this. I came in my mind that I perfer to fall in love with bast friend. Tumblr Fuckery (I figured it out)

If you use custom themes/pages and have been having issues with shadow-banning/soft-blocking (whether by not appearing on the dashboard, posts not appearing in tag searches or notifications not working) this might be for you. Hopefully, anyways.

Tumblr bugs have been an issue for a long time, but it came to a head 1-2 weeks ago when my posts stopped appearing in tag searches altogether. Friends mentioned that I wasn't appearing on their dashboard for a hot sec, so I'd gone fully ghost by this point, and thought it was just a case of being forever-cursed, as a lot of accounts on here are.

When I attempted to edit a page, I received this message:

...essentially saying I couldn't do anything to edit my blog. Couldn't even delete a character. And considering I'd edited a page about 1-2 weeks prior, things were adding up. So, I did some digging and found a reddit post of people sharing similar issues, with a link to this announcement post.

The Summary:

Tumblr no longer allows JavaScript by default.

Tumblr will automatically remove anything with JavaScript in it.

Previous pages aren't affected, but new changes from here on out will be.

Why:

Malicious use of Javascript is an ongoing issue, as we've seen by porn-bot spamming etc. and it's gotten worse. Tumblr are trying to combat that.

Because when people have nice things, they have to ruin it.

The Solution (hopefully):

Send support an email and ask them to enable JavaScript use on your blog.

Turnaround is quick for this one, and my boy Henry here had it up and running within five minutes of me sending a ticket:

Is this a definite fix for all tumblr fuckery?

I don't think so, but in the 24-48 hours since JavaScript has been enabled on my blog, I'm appearing on dashboards again, and tag searches are working. It may not fix everything that's wrong with this site, but it may slap a band-aid on a few issues if you're in a similar situation until the next issue appears to force us into going ghost. The immediate tell would be to attempt editing a custom page. If you receive that red message, get your tickets in.

I love this hellscape and I don't plan on moving out anytime soon, so every little helps to keep it functional. And if you like shiny blogs and fiddling with html/Java, get that script enabled, cause we're doing our part to keep it pretty round here.

I just read your message about your iron deficiency. If you haven’t already I’d look into herbs and supplements for some relief. As someone who has both anemia lupus and endometriosis I researched and was able to come up with a regimen that has helped me tremendously. I still have a bad day here or there but they aren’t nearly as frequently and when I do have them they are as hard on me as the use to be. I’d also investigate your diet. You don’t have to cut everything out or add everything just look into what foods help with your specific needs. Feel free to discard this if you’d prefer the professional help. it’s not that she’s scared to say it exactly, but she knows it means a lot and doesn’t want to overstep with her romantic feelings towards people, if that makes sense? she’s always fallen for people fairly easily but has rarely expressed those feelings because she didn’t want to jeapordise a friendship or come off as inappropriate (or do both in the case of jim).

she always makes sure to tell her friends and loved ones that she loves them! verbal affection is a big thing for thalia, since her dad in particular was always fairly gruff and emotionally-distant from her and at times made her question if he even loved her (he does, so much - he’s just bad at showing it and pushed a lot of his own flaws onto her growing up). she wants to make sure the people in her life know she cares for them.

by saying it, mostly! but she’ll also offer to spend time with the person or help them with a problem in return - she’d always treat uhura to a nice dinner if she helped with thalia’s study or assignments during their academy days.

with a kiss, usually. she can turn into a bit of an octopus in the morning and likes to pepper them all over jim’s face to give him something nice to wake up to.

she’s a very affectionate person if her partner is okay with that (which jim definitely is), so she can employ lots of different tactics if he’s feeling down. she’ll usually default to sitting him down and having a quiet conversation about what’s bothering him, to help get it off his chest, but she also isn’t against massaging out his sore muscles, running her fingers through his hair, or even cooking for him even if he berates her for putting in so much effort. 

if they’re not on the enterprise, she’ll suggest they go out somewhere maybe to a museum or a quiet bar, just the two of them, because she knows the quality time always makes him feel better. she’ll make sure to keep her hand in his the entire time until she wiggles a smile out of him.

she always sends him a little message every night asking how his day was, and if he’s up for it she’ll video call him. like i said, words are really important to thalia!

jim is a bit of an insomniac (she’s not much better, tbh), so she’ll usually have to drag him into bed. she’s given up getting him to put the data pad down, but at least he’s in the bed and not hunched over his desk or god forbid, on the bridge still.

she likes touching him, whether it be holding hands or when he puts his hand at the small of her back. the closeness in general is really nice for thalia! she also really likes sharing a space with jim, likes his smell and little quirks that she can surround herself with. also, she loves wearing his shirt to bed when they’re on shore leave, which drives him crazy.

yes, she loves hugs, although jim is definitely the bigger cuddler. she isn’t against it, and will happily let him wrap himself around her on the couch or in bed.

jim throwing his authority around always make her a little 😳, if only because she’s used to the almost-casual role he plays as captain on the enterprise, so whenever he has to go into Actual Captain mode (usually around outsiders) she’s whipped. also, she saw him with sulu’s daughter exactly one (1) time on a shore leave and almost combusted.

not really. she becomes a bit more affectionate and touchy, but she’s already like that a fair bit with her close friends, so there’s not too big of a change. she becomes a bit more sure of herself, if anything, which makes jim happy. he likes to see her confident.

again, not really. she’ll take him for a nice dinner on special occasions, or make him a nice dinner, but even then it’s more homely than anything.

his confidence, humour and loyalty to his friends and crew, definitely. she thought she disliked the confidence at first, because she was used to arrogant assholes at the academy, but it turned out to be one of the things she loves about him most. also, the hair.

she’s really affectionate and so ridiculously supportive. she’ll sit with you and let you vent about your day, or gently push you out of a rut if you’re stuck in one, or tell when you’re having a bad day and make sure your schedule is suspiciously clear for the evening. she’s really observant and loyal to her partner and just wants them to be comfortable and happy.

she’ll only message him things if one of them is away on business, and they’re usually little good night messages asking how his day was, how that ache in the left of his neck is fairing, and gently insisting he get a good night’s sleep and that she misses him.

she’s not a huge gift-giver, but she will get little novelty things from places she visits for her friends and loved ones, like magnets and mugs. she sends her brother leo key chains from all the crazy space stations she visits and jim always finds it adorable when she insists on going shopping whenever they get a shore leave. (she’s not sure if leo’s even receiving them, but then she visits him and he fails to hide the little display he has in his office of all of them 😊).
