AU OC Introduction:
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to give my OC - Isla - a cursed ability or not since I designed her in way that she’d bring comfort to Jude. Then I thought why not make an AU version and give her one? So I did. I often imagine she and Jude as university students, and thought it’d be nice to have that version of herself as a cursed individual.
Much like my OG Isla, she is French and Scottish, with her parents moving to England just before she was born. Her parents run an extremely popular B&B in scenic England.
She is a second year university student that is majoring in Underwater Archaeology, with a minor business (in case she must take over her parent’s business one day). She has a younger sister Mara.
For years Isla has been a cursed user, however, she never knew exactly what to label it until she finally has her run in with Crown on campus. Even after, she meets Crown and learns what curses are, she never reveals to them that she herself is a curse user. This is for a couple of reasons:
She doesn’t want to form emotional connections she doesn’t need to. This can be a trigger to her curse ability.
Isla has never committed a serious sin as of yet (?) with her curse like the others have and she doesn’t want to.
The nature of her ability: When Isla is either hyper-emotional, or if someone she loves is in danger (sparking her emotions), she can open up a body of water and drown them or drive them to madness. Once the victim has fallen inside her abyss, her consciousness transfers to the water and takes the form of a water spirit that will either drive the victim to madness or drown them. However, this is a snare to her physical body since her consciousness is not present within it. Hence, she’s exposed to attacks.
A part from this, anytime she touches natural, fresh bodies of water, something happens which causes her to lose her cool. Thus, she hates freshwater. This doesn’t include treated bodies of water such as swimming pools, baths etc.
Isla wants more than anything to be normal and her journey to understanding her curse is bumpy. And meeting Jude…..doesn’t help. Eventually, everything gets exposed to Crown and eventually Jude, but by that time…..perhaps it’s too late.

how long can corbin be without mayberry?
i dont know if i explicitly stated it in that post but if i didnt im glad that the implication hell literally start rotting away if he spends too long away from mayberry came across :). im glad that aspect of their relash was conveyed properly im glad there are very clear parallels to rosa canina here
the answer is idk tho lol. i dont think hes ever tried to test it---he was always the avoidant type, didnt like pushing limits just to find them. and even less so now that the knowledge the only thing tying him to this mortal coil is his Evil Ass Wife. i do think they should be divorced but again. rosa canina parallels. sure they can be apart and theyd be happier apart in the long terms theyre bad for each other but could they survive it? literally or metaphorically? wouldnt the ache get under their skin? wouldnt they get fucking weird about it?
#my stuff#dove chirps#🦐#krillverse#krillverse is about middle aged people in terrible relationships and teenagers in terrible relationships#younger adults arent real . @ghost-hosts liked the thing! | closed starter
What a beautiful night for a song! The vampire had spent much of the evening exploring the hauntingly beautiful woodlands surrounding a peculiar part of the German countryside, roaming in the dark until he deigned to rest. Even while sat by a tree, he could not keep still. The forest itself was restless, which stirred his heart and hands. Rafael drew out his flute and began to play a cheery little tune, hoping it would bring himself and any lingering spirits some peace.
The castle he’d been trying to avoid loomed over the trees, more than twice his age, unsettling him further. Even a bard as well versed as he knew not what all had happened within those halls, but it was enough to both repel him and draw him in. Such a strange feeling to want to explore a place he dreaded so. As he continued to play, his song took on a mournful tone, reflecting his anxiety. Was he being watched, or was all of this simply in his head?

there was a small smirk that formed on his face when she mentioned not knowing what he was doing. she really didn't know who she was getting when she signed up for this. "sweetheart, there's no part of me that thinks i'm going to disappoint." he's fucked literal judges and attorneys before to get them to change their minds on a proceeding. maybe even some jury members when the time called for it. illegal, sure, but effective. so this wasn't going to be something that he was going to second guess himself on. he knew law and he knew sex better than anything else in his toolbox. those were his bread and butter.
rhea had lived recklessly for years and she has never been sorry about it. she even thrived on it because she knew she could get away with it or find away to but sitting across from corbin, she knew it would be another thing off her list. she didn't mind it, everyone wanted something from someone. she wanted free from this lawsuit and he wanted to get laid. now, that made her laugh. did he really think she never played this game before? that she haven't spread her legs to no go to jail? "is that so? well, just make sure you know what you're doing, wouldn't want to be disappointed with the out come."

I really don't like Devin's birth parents >:(
do they (or the jerk who cursed a newborn) ever show up in story or get some kind of comeuppance?
i havent really fleshed them out or given them names. basically i crafted a bare bones version of the story than Sloane and Corbin Drake probably would have told Devin as a child, because Corbin strikes me as the kind of person who has a 'if they are old enough to ask they deserve an answer' policy for children
so here is The Gist - A cheated on B with C and C got pregnant, B cursed the subsequent lovechild ie Devin and A and C decided to give him up for adoption. This is an unfortunately not-uncommon kind of dilemma (though by no means are even most of them this callous) and there are special adoption agencies for it. They were coolly polite and accommodating but not friendly to Sloane and Corbin, and requested not to be contacted after Devin was born
the Drakes were called as soon as C went into labor, waited the duration, and A & C immediately signed over custody and sloane and corbin took him home.
so Devin (being. yknow, Janus .) at age... oh he's probably 4-5 i'd assume? when it would occur to him to press for details at least - and he absorbs this information and is like "actually. those people sound really annoying. and i met them really for like ten minutes when you think about it. so i think this is chill."
and thats about when tiny Janus starts referring to his birth parents as "his material components" no matter how much his fathers try to stop him XD

summary : growing up in the ‘middle of nowhere’ small town in lochcliff, colorado, stories were heard of multiple strange disappearances, murders, animal attacks, and more. when you were younger, you never paid attention to that stuff. now at the age of 17 it’s all you ever hear about. what happens when you realize those ‘stories’ you heard growing up, may not just be scary fairytales people tell their kids.
warning ⚠️ : contains mature themes, smut, gore (nothing insane), angst, etc. this warning is for all chapters.
(this does take some inspiration from tvd !)
chapter 3 : attacks
the rest of the school day didn’t amount to much. every class just explaining what we were going to do and learn for the first semester. i would see matthew out of the corner of my eye, occasionally with christopher and the other one but other than that, nothing.
the second i got home, i decided to take a shower. so i grabbed whatever looked the most comfortable from my closet and made a b-line for the bathroom.
as soon as i stepped into the warm water, i felt my muscles relaxing almost instantly. as if every little droplet was its own pair of tiny hands messaging every crook and tense area in my body.
i did my whole shower routine and after almost an hour, i stepped out and got dressed in a pair of wide leg sweatpants and a grey hoodie.
“y/n! you out of the shower yet?” corbin’s voice calls out. he ended up having a ‘first of the year’ football meeting and practice after school, which ended up causing me having to walk home from school. although i didn’t mind it one bit. the cool air of the colorado afternoon working as the fresh air i’ve been in need of for a long time, the sun hiding behind the cover of clouds causing a scenic landscape with the yellow and red leaves overspreading the ground.
“yeah!” i shout back, exiting the bathroom before making way to my bedroom.
i shut my bedroom door, the click of it indicating to me that it fully shut. i walk to my dresser, pulling out a vanilla scented candle and lighting it, creating a cozy orange luminescence to coat my room. the sound of rain beginning to fall pattering against my window.
i then slide into my bed, covering myself with the white fluffy comforter my mom got me for christmas last year, instantly bringing me to a sense of comfort and relaxation. i pull out my laptop from my nightstand, turning on netfix. after scrolling through the endless options of the app, i decide on putting on a random movie as background noise as i opt on just scrolling through various social media platforms on my phone.
my mind starts to wonder back to matthew and the conversation i had with jayde earlier that day.
“don’t you think it’s a little strange that these two guys - whom have the same last name that no one has even heard of anyone having in years, just..come out of nowhere?” i question her.
“not really. probably just moved away forever ago and just decided not to tell anyone, then move back.”
“yeah maybe.”
it just doesn’t make any sense to me. the last name ‘sturniolo’ hasn’t been talked about in years. let alone someone with the last name living here again. in my whole seventeen years of living on earth, i’ve only ever heard of the name, just making me think that it was a fun little tale to tell everyone to give the boring city of lochcliff a little more character.
could someone just coincidentally have the same last name? sure. but someone with the same last name, living in the same town? it’s all just so strange and confusing.
maybe i’m thinking too much on it and it’s really just nothing and perhaps they’re descendants of their ancestors who once used to live and roam the streets of lochcliff. but, the sturniolo’s were known for never wanting to leave the city they helped found.
which is where my thinking leads to now, my fingers quickly typing ‘carmilla sturniolo and the sturniolo family of lochcliff, colorado.” i click on the search button, the screen instantly bringing me to a page of a newsletter written in 1877.
the lochcliff paddler
march 7, 1877
in the town of lochcliff, colorado, residents celebrate the 2-year anniversary of the founding of the city. james whitlock giving a speech
“yeah not interesting” i mumble to myself as i continue scrolling through the archives of the town.
i continue passing by multiple vintage newsletters, until one catches my eye. causing me to pause and read over it.
a death in lochcliff
october 21, 1898
police in the city of lochcliff warn locals to be aware of an ongoing investigation in the death of carmilla sturniolo. sturniolo was discovered in the home she shared with her husband, theodore, and her three sons. sturniolo was known as the first woman to be a member of the towns council, and her family’s help in founding the city. investigators haven’t shared any specific details with the public on how her death occurred. although, rumors speculate that the people whom stood outside the sturniolo residence as emergency personnel pulled her out of the home, say she looked as is if she had been “mauled by an enraged bear.” police suspect there may have been foul play that took place, their reasoning being the residence looking like, quote on quote : “a bomb went off. glass and bookshelves broken and shattered around the home. two windows completely destroyed.”
theodore hasn’t spoken out about his wife’s passing. the three sons they shared completely disappearing from the town. accusations of the three sons being the cause of death to carmilla sturniolo. others say that they think the sons were kidnapped.
i finish reading the newsletter and turn off my phone with a sigh after learning no new information i didn’t already know. i feel my stomach rumble with hunger, so i stand up and make my way downstairs to the kitchen.
“hi sweetie! how was your first day?” my moms voice chirps as i enter the kitchen. her already cooking as the aroma of spaghetti lingers in the air.
“same old same old. i only have a couple classes with jayde which is a bummer.” i say as i take a seat at at the kitchen island.
she hums as she nods understandingly. “i’m sorry kiddo. did you meet anyone new?”
“technically i didn’t meet him but there’s a new kid in my class. i think he’s a triplet.” i take a sip of my water.
“a triplet? how fun! what’s his or their names?”
“matthew and christopher sturniolo. i don’t know the other one’s name.” i respond, crossing my arms over the table as i watch her draining the water from the noodles.
“sturniolo? huh, haven’t heard that name in a while.” she says, mixing the sauce in with the droopy noodles.
“yeah, i thought it was weird too.”
“what’s weird?” corbin’s voice interrupting our conversation, sound of him now coming down the stairs into the kitchen.
“just this kid in my class. he’s new.” i sigh, as my mom hands me the plate of spaghetti she fixed for me.
he nods his head, taking his own plate of food and plopping down beside me. the next few minutes are filled with silence as corbin and i chow down on our dinner.
the sound of clicking of a remote cuts through the quietness as i see him turning the tv on, the local news being the first image to show up on the tv.
“breaking news, this just in. a teenage girl, seemed to be around the age of 16 to 18, found dead in the woods after a party thrown by high schoolers took place.” the tv anchor reports. “an animal attack being the reasoning of her death. more details will be shared shortly.”
a/n : the newsletter was so much fun to write tbh. anyways hello new part :) i have so many plans for ts im so excited

The life of an attorney wasn't a simple one, especially when he dealt with the level of cases that Corbin had on his plate. Therefore, the life of his intern wasn't going to be a walk in the park either. Even if he was cute.
Soon enough he was planning on letting the younger man in on interrogations, case preps, or contract developments. Everyone had to go up the totem pole though and earn their place in the firm. Even if there was a chance Adam was only going to be there for a limited time.
With the meeting ending early and him needing one of his other suits, Corbin decided to head straight home instead of asking Adam to bring him what he needed. That was when he found him there, walking around in his robe, briefs, and talking about him. Oh he was going to have to check his security footage later, wondering where it was that his intern decided to strip to get dressed.
He decided to stay quiet, leaning against the frame of the door, until he heard the topic of fucking coming up. "So this isn't worthwhile for you?" Corbin rose his brows as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Here I was thinking I was actually going to start liking you."
open to (m) tops; 20 +
older men are definitely preferred, especially taking on the role of his boss, but anyone could work, his bosses son, the gardener, the bosses actual assistant, a robber/home invader, his bosses husband. anything goes basically.
He wasn't getting the experience he wanted in his internship but it was still going to look good on his resume when he graduated; and his boss was attractive, even if he frustrated Adam with the tasks he was assigned.
Take tonight for example. Instead of sitting in on a meeting, learning about the in's and out's of the company he was technically working for, he had been tasked with bringing his bosses dry cleaning home and tidying things up before he returned; like a maid.
"I'm telling you, this job is not what I signed up for." He was complaining over the phone to one of his friends as he sauntered around his bosses bedroom; the real offense, though, was the fact he was wearing one of the man's robes, a pair of the man's calvin klein briefs, and nothing else.
"Dude, you do realize this is real life and not some porno right?" He questioned with a laugh as he continued his pacing; completely unaware that he wasn't alone. "No he's not fucking me, that would actually make this job worth it."

Hypnovember Day 10: Futurum
This is a sequel to The Conditioning Initiative
Corbin got a lot of tips for her crime blog, but few were as massive as the one about Futurum. For years, Futurum had been something of a Romero mystery. What exactly did applied science mean? If Corbin had to guess, the shady corporation was developing weapons for the government. They kept their projects secret and their employees silent with aggressive NDAs. Of the ones willing to talk to Corbin, none even knew what they were working on, admitting that Futurum delivered work orders to engineers with purposely stingy context.
That was too interesting not to chase before she received the email. And then one day Corbin opened her Outlook to find the message: an internal memo detailing The Conditioning Initiative—Futurum’s top secret research into mind control, real MKUltra stuff. Definitely the kind of thing the government would be interested in.
“Fuck,” Corbin whispered as she scrolled through pages of names and processes.
The Conditioning Initiative had started out small, recruiting from a pool of remote Carpenter State interns. After successful trials, the initiative was expanded to Grade E employees—people leaders who would in turn oversee further expansion of the initiative to Grades D, C, B, and A, moving down the chain until all of the working class associates at Futurum had been conditioned.
All of this was confirmed and detailed by Corbin’s source. Stephanie Mason was a manager at Futurum who had grown disgruntled when she discovered upper management’s plans to expand The Conditioning Initiative to every employee. She explained that she had reservations when she learned about the research, but had ultimately assumed that common sense and human rights would win out.
“But every day there was a new spreadsheet on my desk,” Stephanie recalled to Corbin. “Productivity numbers. That’s all they kept talking about: ‘Look at these productivity numbers!’”
“That’s all this is about?” Corbin asked.
“Time theft has been a concern in office spaces for years,” Stephanie replied. “My bosses believe they can transform the workforce into perfect laborers, singularly focused. It really is something. I mean, it’s spooky to see people work like that.”
“In my experience, mind control conspiracies tend to be a bit more…sexually motivated,” Corbin said, crossing her legs as she spoke.
“Not at Futurum,” Stephanie shook her head. “It’s all about the bottom line.”
Corbin recognized the bravery it took for Stephanie to come to her. Even having a coffee in public, she was taking an incredible risk. Corbin caught her mistake when she noticed Stephanie’s eyes darting back and forth around the cafe. She promised that next time they met she would choose a location that was a bit more suited to clandestine meetings.
But it was Stephanie who arranged the next meeting, texting Corbin the address to the anonymous motel in River City with a room number. The motel rented by the hour and was a popular spot for secret hookups and sex work. Corbin thought it was appropriately clandestine, but when Stephanie greeted her wearing nothing but a bath towel, she got the feeling that Stephanie had more than just new information to offer.
“Just caught me getting out of the shower,” Stephanie laughed.
Corbin tried not to ogle too much, but she was already crushing on Stephanie after their first meeting, and seeing her now like this was only making it worse.
“Make yourself a drink,” Stephanie pointed toward the little minibar. “I’m just going to change real quick.”
When Stephanie disappeared behind the bathroom door, Corbin opened the mini fridge to find it full of small bottles of alcohol which she assumed Stephanie had stocked herself. Planning for a fun night, she thought.
“I was surprised when you got back to me so quickly,” Corbin said, raising her voice to project through the bathroom door. She twisted the cap on a bottle of Smirnoff and took a swig. “I thought you’d want to play it safe and lay low for a bit before jumping back into…”
Stephanie had exited the bathroom, but she hadn’t changed her clothes. Instead, she dropped the towel before Corbin, exposing her nude body to her. Corbin exhaled. “Stephanie…” she said.
“Do you like what you see?” Stephanie asked.
It had occurred to Corbin that Stephanie was too good to be true. The inside woman with intimate knowledge of her company’s brainwashing conspiracy was the kind of trap that Corbin had learned to look for. No more mistakes, Corbin had resolved with herself after everything with the Alphas. But goddamn, she really did like what she saw.
Corbin set her bottle down on top of the fridge. “When did they get to you? Was it a trap all along? Futurum was hardly on my radar before you came to me.”
It was like Corbin could see Stephanie’s personality melt away in real time, the giggling Stephanie who had greeted her in a bath towel simply a facade that hid the fine-tuned automaton underneath. Stephanie was right: it was spooky. That vacant expression, her mouth hanging loose as she spoke slowly and deliberately to Corbin.
“The correspondence was an aberration in No.33’s programming,” Stephanie said. “Appropriate measures were taken to recondition this subject. Do you like what you see?”
Ohhh fuck, referring to herself in the third person and everything. It was like Futurum had a dossier on Corbin and knew which buttons to push. Seeing Stephanie go full robot woman brought some serious flashbacks for Corbin. She still hadn’t fully recovered from the months she spent as one of Madison Wells’ brainwashed Alphas. She couldn’t help but see a bit of herself in Stephanie, that part of her that, no matter how hard she fought, would always want to submit.
Stephanie approached Corbin slowly, repeating, “Do you like what you see?”
Corbin nodded her head yes. When Stephanie reached her in the middle of the room, she pressed her lips to Corbin’s, and Corbin kissed back. Stephanie’s tongue was warm in her mouth. Corbin was already so wet. Futurum really couldn’t have pulled this shit at a worse time for her. It had been so long that she was completely folding to Stephanie’s advances.
“What’s the plan here?” Corbin asked as she pulled her shirt over her head. “Futurum gets me laid and I’m supposed to be so thankful that I don’t write about it?”
“I am bound by my NDA to refrain from discussing Futurum business with non-authorized individuals,” Stephanie said.
Corbin’s bra dropped to the floor. The pair moved to the bed, Stephanie flicking her tongue over Corbin’s nipples as her fingers rolled her clit. Corbin’s Alpha instincts took over, pleading and moaning like the horny slut Madison had trained her to be. It was bad. It was so fucking bad.
When Corbin reached what Stephanie determined was optimum arousal, Stephanie repositioned herself between Corbin’s legs.
“Fuck, that’s hot!” Corbin cried when Stephanie’s face sank into her soaking pussy. Corbin had cum to the tongues of a dozen Alphas, her own brainwashing being a days-long session under the visor as Madison’s best slaves took turns assaulting Corbin’s clit. But Corbin had never felt anything like Stephanie’s tongue. It was a tireless assault of pleasure, starting slow but strong and picking up speed as she went, building to the most efficient orgasm Corbin had ever felt.
She didn’t open her eyes again until she felt the small sting on her forehead.
No more mistakes.
“Oh,” Corbin said, recognition coming to her slowly and fading fast with the rest of her free will. The small device that Stephanie pressed to Corbin’s forehead would only subdue her, but by the time Corbin’s mind returned to the conscious world she would already be strapped to a chair in a Futurum conditioning room.

so you got me interested in reading the history of shit but feel slightly intimidated as i have very little experience in european history and basically none in french history at all, and none for history of health/disease/etc. i was wondering if you have any recommendations for readings to get at least a basis in this so i can appreciate and understand the read more? what do i need to know going into it?
[yes sickos voice] so i actually think 'history of shit' is relatively friendly to those without a huge base of historical knowledge, if only because it's less grounded in actual historical analysis than in theoretical and conceptual work. you should be aware of the french 'mission civilisatrice' as a guiding principle of imperial and colonial expansion, and its importance in hygienic rhetoric and reform projects in the french colonies (eg, the hanoi rat massacre or attempts at scientised architectural reform in algeria or morocco). you should also know that paris in particular has a recent history of taking a special kind of pride in its sewer system (which, to be clear, did exist prior to the second empire [1851-1870] but was certainly greatly expanded during this period) and using the fact of having a sewer system as evidence of its great 'modernity', 'cleanliness', &c. but, i don't think you need to delve deep into historical texts prior to reading 'history of shit'; if anything, it might be more enjoyable to read laporte first (it's a funny book on purpose!) and then do any further historical research that piques your interest. 'history of shit' is working largely within a lacanian and freudian framework, though certainly also with an awareness of principles of marxist analysis; again, though, i don't think you need to be an expert in psychoanalysis to read this book. maybe skim a summary of freud's 'civilisation and its discontents' if you're feeling very shaky on this aspect.
if you do want to read further into french history on this topic, some first places to go would be donald reid's 'paris sewers and sewermen' (kind of the go-to historical monograph on the parisian sewer system) or alain corbin's 'the foul and the fragrant'. david barnes has also written some great papers on parisian sanitary engineering, including the 'great stinks', and public health. 'history of shit' also bears certain foucauldian fingerprints and has a lot of literary and cultural analysis; you might have fun following some of those references. i read it without having read most of the literary works cited and still found it very engaging.
